Complaining abt Suicide Squad yet again but the fact that they have Waller exposing the alien community to space racist attacks and talking abt how she got to her position through deceit and being a terrible person and stuff is just. Ahsfiwueh JUST SAY YOU DONT KNOW WALLER.

Anyways literally the 3rd mission of the Squad ever (and the first framed as smth Waller picked and not orders from above) was the Squad discrediting and stopping a rogue vigilante who was only arresting POC and funneling white people into white supremacy groups (of which he was the most prominent member) in SUICIDE SQUAD #4. and it's explicitly framed as this mission being personal for Waller that she's hiding from the government bc its illegal like. Guys. Please why are we having her incite (space bc comics) racist attacks now

Also the whole "Amanda got her position through deceit and being a terrible person" NO. she KEPT her position through being shitty and playing complicated political games!!! She wasn't always that way like there is a difference and it is IMPORTANT ppl PLEASEEEE. In Secret Origins #14 we learn Amanda's backstory and she used to be a normal, caring person! Like even after she entered into working in government and politics she wasn't automatically morally bankrupt like please people. She was originally given control of the Squad by Reagan (*sigh* 80s comics...) to distract and get rid of her because she was so successful at pushing progressive social policy in Congress. Acting like she's this static pillar of evil is such a waste of her character and so fucking uninteresting and disrespectful to her arc it drives me MAD.

Like I am NOT saying Waller is all sunshine and rainbows, she fucking SUCKS (said w love <3) but like there's a human being there. It's a progression, she has a character arc like please, DC, please!!! They've fucked up Waller so bad and made her so opaque and uninteresting she can't even be the protagonist of her own story for fucks sake!

Like I don't know how many times I have to scream it until DC hears me or remembers but WALLER IS THE MAIN CHARACTER OF SUICIDE SQUAD. ITS HER BOOK. yet right now she's a cutout to be used as the villain wherever the writers please. Even in her book we get none of her perspective really displayed, no exploration of her thoughts with any kind of understanding of the role she traditionally has played and was made to play in the story.

Junicrane/Starstruck Ramble

I will not be brief, all under the cut

To clear some things right off the bat:

No corpse, no proof with Juniper. Obligatory this is set in a canon where he's alive and adjacent to the agency in some way.

Reggie & Juniper are just gay to me, but I don't mind any interpretation of their sexuality

The games are set in 1967/68 to me (based on a couple bits in game) which is before it was legal to be gay in America at least (1971), which is relevant to how I interpret canon as being somewhat grounded in reality, despite unrealistic elements.

This is just an insane amount of headcanons/elements of and AU all culminated into one post. I will talk about some headcanons like they're just facts because they are established in my head, and it saves me over explaining literally everything, however I will explain some parts a little bit for clarity.

Alright. Actual beginning of the ramble:

Juniper is a character to me who had gotten so lost in his job as an actor and a social presence that in the end his whole life revolved around that 'role'. Because of this, by the time he's put into the situation where he's around the Agency, he basically knows nothing about himself, though he doesn't realise at first. Furthermore, what little identity he had has changed in so many ways. He's no longer a beloved famous actor in the prominence of public light, he's legally dead and he tarnished his career just before he was supposed to die, with the bonus of that making him lose the majority of his estate. From that, he also has horrific facial scarring from the electrical burns from literally having his face fried. I believe a friend of mine made a post about this a while ago (I also think they were the first to think it up also), but, to me, Juniper has a permanent trimmer in his right arm (aka his dominant hand) from the electrical current and it is messing with his nervous system.

All in all, he's not doing great, but he's too proud to admit that he's not doing great, because if anything, what's left of his ego is all he has as a defense since he's deep in unfamiliar water.

Before ending up around the agency (I have multiple interpretations of this, so I'm just going to bring it up generally), he'd never actually seen Reggie, and his only impression of him is a single voicemail, which was his only reference he had to later impersonate him. Juniper probably has very little feelings other than the ones he projects onto him because of Phoenix and that, at the very least, he's physically attracted to Reggie to some degree (that's like the beginning of how everything else would tumble into place in this sort of interpretation at least).

And on Crane's side? His feelings towards Juniper are probably very intense and muddled. On the one hand, he adores musical theatre, and that's his now ex-favourite actor. The thought of just casually being around him blows the bit of fanboy in him away at first because THAT'S the GUY, plus the inklings of a celebrity crush which still poke at him. And then there's the rational side of him, which knows Juniper has committed absolute atrocities on the side of Zoraxis, and hates him for that. Then there's how much Juniper comes off as an asshole at first because he refuses to cooperate with anything the Agency tried to put in place. He finds Juniper endlessly frustrating, and yet he's stuck working with him since, afterall, he's the one who knows the Agency's history with Juniper the best. I imagine him acting a lot like how he does IEYTD 1 around Juniper.

At this point, I'm just describing the pitch for a romcom.

I think the start of their relationship with one another largely started with Juniper trying to wind Crane up. It was a way of getting his attention, and I don't think Juniper knows why he's so dead set on that at first, because I don't think he realises he has a crush on 'this grump' at first. (I think that's actually the fun part about these two, because it's almost like a role reversal of the celebrity crush dynamic. This ex-big name actor has a TERRIBLE crush on an average joe and it is KILLING HIM.) But of course the Agency keeps them together because Juniper is at least conversing with Crane, so it's a start.

Through one way or another, they actually get talking casually, at least mildly at first. It takes Juniper a long time to fully deconstruct the wall he's built, and the thing is, Crane isn't the one trying to deconstruct it, at least at first, because yeah, Juniper realises if he wants Reggie to actually like him in any way, he can't keep winding him up. So they talk. Small talk at first, something rhythmic and almost easy to keep to a script. And over time that turns into actual conversations. Genuine ones in which Reggie rips out the occasional one of his jokes which Juniper is endlessly endeared about. The way he smiles just before he makes them, like he wants to chuckle at what he's about to say before he says it. That's probably when Juniper realised that he does have some vague crush on him, and that it wasn't going away.

This is what kickstarts John I can't-buy-you-things-to-impress-you-so-acts-of-service-it-is Juniper to do little things for him. It mostly starts off as him trying to make Reggie his tea how he likes it. However, the nerve damage in his arm makes that hard, as the weight of the kettle and trying to pour is hard all of a sudden. And he refuses to accept that, so he tries for a very long while. Long enough that Crane would go to investigate what was going on. And when he does see Juniper leaning over a cup with the kettle as he uneasily tries to pour it, and when Crane asks Juniper responds so matter-of-fact that his intention is nothing but genuine. And it catches Reggie off guard because Juniper hadn't done anything like that up to that point, and his very apparent vulnerability is so clearly on show.

It shifts something between them.

From that point on, conversations are longer, more familiar. Both of their attitudes soften, and Reggie makes more jokes. Juniper learns how to better use his left hand while strengthening his right back to a point where it could be used again. Slowly, they're both spending time with one another not because they have to, but just because they can. Little bits at first, not too far outside what they already were doing, but those little bits turned into long bits to a point where the other person's company was genuinely desirable.

As time passes, Juniper probably realises that he doesn't genuinely know much about himself or what hobbies he's into, because he never really had the time when he got big, and his home life in his youth wasn't bad, but it wasn't picturesque. I think Reggie would pick up on it, and absolutely try to introduce him to some things he's into. Some things stick, other things don't (corn husking very much stays Reggie's passion, and John will go with him sometimes because it's him, but it's not something he strongly cares for). Crane introduces him to a lot of music, and it's something that becomes a staple between them, with tracks they listen to more than others (tragically, I know relatively little about 60s music so I couldn't really say what). Occasionally they dance, never anything intense, think slow dancing, but the closeness is nice.

Through all of it, Juniper is battling the worst crush of his life, and he can't stand it, because I think he struggles to read people since he doesn't have anything like a script or a director to refer back to, so he has no idea if Reggie likes him back or if he's just desperate for that to be true. I think because of that any sort of confession between them would be incredibly raw, not only because of the time they live in making it hard for them to be truthful about how they love, but because it's a complete show of Juniper who's worked to be this better person. I don't exactly know how that would go, mainly because I don't have one set version of their dynamic, this post is just a generalisation of main consistent points.

Reggie does like him back, because he's gotten used to Juniper being just this guy, not a figure in the public eye, not a Zoraxis lackey, and not any sort of Agency operative (despite being under their care to some degree). He's someone he genuinely cares for, because they've given one another the time of day to learn one another, and I think because Reggie was a field agent, he was a lot better at reading Juniper than Juniper was at reading him. Eventually Juniper's company becomes something he could see around him for the rest of his life, and I think he accepts that he likes Juniper a lot more gracefully.

I think any affection directed at Juniper would at first be met with him feeling a little muddled. Reggie was a very physically affectionate person when he could be, and sure the initial flirting with one another came with the occasional little touches, but everything now was so deeply intentional. I also don't think Juniper would almost ever get over the novelty of being able to kiss him, or many other gestures, because it made the fact that they were together so very real, and it was great. I do think it comes easier to Reggie, and it's a big way of showing how much he cares, so it's important for Juniper to try and show it back because he knows how much it means to the other.

I like the idea of them eventually living with one another, too. I think Juniper would have always had a quiet little daydream of sorts where he does just live a domestic quiet life, and he can with Reggie (well, as close as they can get between the Agency and Zoraxis always being at odds), and he loves that, and he loves him, and it's immense.

I think they cook for one another a lot, it helps Juniper work on his dexterity in a controlled environment, which means a lot because it's a huge point of insecurity (that and his scars). He does improve, and Crane is proud of that and shows it and it's great. I also think they'd probably cook together too, because they can deal with being in the kitchen together and they work well with one another. It's probably a good way for them to unwind because over time they can do it in relative silence.

As I said before, I also think music is a staple in their household, and that Reggie listens to things on vinyl almost all of the time because he likes the background noise. Sometimes Juniper will catch him chuntering along to the music which he finds endlessly endearing. I wouldn't put it past his dramatic ass to also join in to fluster Reggie, but I also don't think Reggie would mind that terribly because Juniper has listened to the music enough to know the lyrics, and that's huge to him.

I don't think they are without rough patches, no relationship is, but I think the good part about them is that they're willing to talk about it (... eventually). They're used to long conversations, and while they're often less fun conversations, they're needed and they know that, and it works out.

Alright. I think I'm done for now. I haven't mentioned everything, but this definitely got the worst of it out of my system. If you ever want to hear any specific thoughts my ask box is open but other than that, behold my general dynamic for these two which has been festering in my head for years. I think they're great

After tears were finally dried up and their meltdowns eased off, it was time to get back to business.

Y/N and Shadow Milk picked each other up, dusting themselves off. Y/N attempted to wipe her face clean, dust off her dress. Shadow Milk equally smudged his hand over his face, causing the facepaint to smear and essentially be erased.

Shadow Milk and Y/N looked up at one another, quiet for a bit of a moment before they softly laughed a little together.

Shadow Milk's eyes narrowed a little as he took in her laughter. Watching the way her eyes crinkled, how her hair bounced. How, even after a full-blown meltdown, she managed to glow.

Subconsciously, he gently scratched at his chest as if trying to itch away the swelling of warmth in his heart. Yet, a surge of remembrance went through him, and he chastised himself, concluding to himself she'll leave too.

Y/N, a little oblivious to his turmoil, finally softened her laughter. She felt relieved..grateful they had this moment even though it wasn't even close to what she expected.

Offering her hand, Y/N held it out expectantly with a soft smile to Shadow Milk,

He snapped out of his daze and looked at her hand. His defenses flared, remembering the last time someone offered their hand in friendship,

Shadow Milk's fists balled in frustration, now guarding himself instinctively. Hypocritical, yes, but Shadow Milk despised being lied to—especially when it involved the false sense of security of friendship. Company.

Y/N's hand faltered a little, noticing the tension in Shadow Milk. Maybe she still had a little bit of fear after all. But she felt oddly determined not to shrink away,

" Are you okay..? " She finally asked,

" What are you wanting from me? " Shadow Milk snipped, " Why are you being so nice to me? "

Y/N flinched a little, her hand retracting as she watched him rant,

" Why are you lying to me!? " He hissed

Y/N stared at him, his silence signaling he wanted an answer,

" Because I want your company— " She sincerely whispered,

He blinked, completely taken aback by her response. His heart yearned to believe her. She sounded so convincing. Why was his mind whispering to him? Why were his thoughts hissing words of how he doesn't deserve her kindness?

Shadow Milk grabbed his head, his hair becoming more disarray as he ruffled his hands through his mess of hair. A scream-like groan left Shadow Milk before he hunched over into a ball,

Maybe the whispers were right. He didn't deserve her kindness. He didn't deserve that letter she sent him. The letter that put him here in the first place. Her invitation.

Shadow Milk seemed to be on a fervent panic attack. It seemed to spike a migraine, and it caused him to try and curl in on himself again,

Y/N was panicking herself, not knowing what to do. She glanced around, firstly hoping no one else heard the scream. Things seemed clear before she finally hunkered down on her knees,

" Hey- hey— " She gently put her hands on his shoulders in an attempt to coax him to look at her,

It seemed like he was going through something far worse than she really expected, and she was pretty lost at what to really do..

Shadow Milk's nails seemed to be digging into his scalp, but when he felt a slight push on his shoulder–he relented and peeked his eye up at Y/N

He was met with a soft gaze, one also filled with utter worry. Shadow Milk felt Y/N squeeze his shoulder, which enabled him to slowly calm down..

" Let me prove to you.. that I'm not going anywhere.. " She started, hoping her words were enough, " Let me show you that I don't want you to be lonely anymore... "

He finally lifted his head enough to get a full look at Y/N. Shadow Milk scrunched his face, shaking some of the whispers in his mind out, glancing away. He felt a bit embarrassed for the outburst..

Y/N smiled, happy it seemed to have calmed him down. She stood up straight and offered her hand again,

Shadow Milk stared at her hand, slowly reaching out. He hesitated, his body seemingly to actively fight him from accepting Y/N's hand. Eventually, his hand finally found hers, and he looked up at Y/N's face,

Y/N carefully pulled Shadow Milk to his feet, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze once more,

Shadow Milk kept his tired eyes on her face,

" Promise..? " He murmured, desperate

" I promise, " Y/N spoke, conviction palpable in her tone,

The whispers that infested Shadow Milk's mind softened, or at least were nulled a little as him and Y/N began to, finally, finish their walk to Y/N's castle.

As they approached the castle gates, the guards on patrol seemed to tense at the sight of Shadow Milk, but they kept their comments to themselves; yet their following gazes gave way to their concerns.

Y/N would glance back at Shadow Milk occasionally as she led them both to the back gardens away from everything. From prying eyes. From prying ears. From the walls that would listen..

Shadow Milk's head had been tilted downward, simply watching Y/N's feet as a guide. He felt a bit too much shame to look at her after his outburst. But when the tiles turned into concrete, Shadow Milk finally looked up.

The sound of blue birds chirping.. the fresh scent of crisp air. His eyes roamed, taking in the well crafted and beautiful foliage; but then his eyes landed on the beds of flowers.

Blue hyacinths. Forget-me-nots.

Just an array of blue. It took him by surprise, to say the least,

" I've always loved the color blue.. " Y/N finally whispered

Shadow Milk felt her hand slowly leave his to walk over to the beds of flowers. This time, though.. he didn't seem to panic when she let go. Yet he still found himself following her, still quiet,

Shadow Milk watched Y/N gently touch the hyacinths. The delicate movements not lost on him, despite his rampant thirst for chaos, but he realized something, causing him to pause,

His mind was quiet. At least it felt quiet. The daunting and festering whispers seemed to have been tuned out..

All that filled his senses was the sound of birds. The scent of fresh flowers... the feel of the warm sun beaming through and warming up his cold body. It caused a gentle shiver, as if the warmth was foreign,

A yawn managed to leave Shadow Milk, but he tried to fight the fact that he felt physically tired. He tried to fight the fact that he felt safe. He tried to keep his guard up.. to ask himself, "What if it isn't safe?". But he caved.

Slowly, Shadow Milk lowered down, dipping himself down into the bed of hyacinths and lavender.

Y/N looked surprised as she watched him slowly submerge into the flowers. His body seemingly disappeared amongst the flowers; she went to speak, but words failed..

Shadow Milk let out a quiet sigh, the scent of hyacinths and lavender easing his nerves. His eyes grew heavy, feeling his muscles relax.

Y/N carefully began to lower herself down beside him, her own body disappearing into the flowers again,

The silence was comfortable. Both knowing the other was just across a few flowers. Although Shadow Milk's hand still managed to find Y/N's, this time his pinky hooked her own,

Y/N jumped a little but gave his pinky a small squeeze with her own..

Both found themselves dozing off, Shadow Milk getting genuine rest he's needed in eons..

i like the headcanon he knows humans, knows some of their quirks, and how they were the first ppl the other hylian villagers called on to help stuck cows or downed wagons, lots of heavy lifting stuff

but he really hasnt seen the extent of real humans, bc the humans who were in Ordon, well, they lived in hylian society,

why would they need the adrenaline to lift a car when hylians have set up whole tools and systems in all their towns to help lift just a full bucket of water out of the well??

not to mention, i think all the humans in his village were older adults? like at least not the age theyd be doing things like parkour or going to any trampoline parks type of age,

id imagine its more like stories talked about amongst hylians how hard humans can go, and even the humans themselves talked abt things like,

the thing i love about silas and stone is that they feel both really similar and like opposites at the same time. silas is not great at combat at all but stone is incredibly skilled. theyre both head over heels for their respective guys and super goofy. stone has his judgy and rude moments while silas is just a sweetheart every time we see him. idk if this makes any sense, they just feel so different to me but they've also got their similarities that cant be overlooked. i love lee majdoub.

My idea for the little doodle comic im makin(Noble really took me out at the knees with that stray thought SMDH) was like Wendimoor is a distant planet (like the mushroom planet) and somehow Silas gets warped too Earth. Unlike Wendimoor its not this fun fanciful magic world its just baseline Earth even without the warping space hedgehog nonsense yet so theres nothing Silas can do but adapt so he tries to apply himself into bein the brave warrior his mother would have wanted him to be and uses all the knowledge and skills Wygar had tried to instill on him to do it! and eventually ends up with GUN.

After a couple of long trying years Silas just gives up on his hope that Panto will save him and doesnt expect his mother to go out of her way... shes got his little brother who'll be a better leader anyways. They wont miss him.

Silas isnt as whimsical and open anymore just due to the crushing environment hes in for years. Then he gets assigned to Ivo... and Ivo is just a silly whimsical mess and it makes Silas feel like home for the first time in a LONG time. Even though Ivo is kinda mean to him... its not like hes not used to someone being cruel to him even though he loves them (like his mom).

Although Ivo saying 'I wont miss you when your gone' would probably cut a little deeper in this AU.

Anyways Panto has been searching for Silas the entire time. Getting to different planets any way he can.

AND LIKE.... Panto wants to bring Silas back home away from this bleak ass planet but Stone is reluctant because whos gonna protect the Doctor is hes gone? Pantos like babe he said he doesnt even care if youre here... and Silas is like you dont know him like I do...

And Ivo doesnt care and hes not even mad that Stone drew hearts on another mans latte at all. And hes not upset that Stone might leave and like why would he even care? He already let Stone know he wasnt gonna miss him. So hes not upset at all.

Little rant and probably a controversial opinion, please don't burn me at the stake for that If i asked you to guess how many dazai anon accounts have i blocked here till now, what number would u think of? Bc i just checked - i currently have 9 of their accounts blocked. 2 from this week alone. And it's not like i go around hunting for them. I just randomly open tumblr to check what silly things did ppl say about my art, and then i see 50 different reblogs, comments or asks from dazai anon alone, being no longer only mean to Chuuya or skk, but bashing my art or telling me to off myself!!! Yay!! And u know, it wasn't a problem in the beginning. The stuff they write is comedic with how stupid it is. I could also interact with em smh (ngl, they left me for a good while after i drew them and chuuya making out that one time). And as i said, before they didn't attack me personally. But then i started getting comments that i shouldn't interact with dazai anon bc something something they're mentally unstable? Like im sorry, but how is this my problem. They come to me and regularly tell me to hurt myself, but i can't even reply to them bc "sab, it's no use, they're sick smth smth smth, just block them"?? Like bruh aight, it's just that sitting silently actually starts to affect me. Bc no matter how many accounts i block, they come back with a new one the moment they realize they're blocked. And the whole carousel of "block, dont interact" starts again. I just think it's not really alright to tell ppl that they can't in any way stand up for themselves? Why do i have to care about personal wellbeing or a sad backstory of someone who doesn't respect mine? Why should i even know about their problems? They're a complete stranger to me and i don't really go around reading random people's biographies on the internet. Like aughhh it's seriously starting to annoy me now,,,, i'm not saying ppl ACCEPT what dazai anon does, but using the excuse that they're not okay mentally just doesn't sit right with me, idk. Mental health problems should never be an excuse for hurting others, imo.

the way you draw the dsmp characters makes me so very deeply emotional /vpos like. forgive me for the rant incoming but its exactly a perfect mix of how i imagined them to look when i was younger and how i imagine them now and ohh my god ur cbeeduo art and ur animationsss.. it makes me tear up with joy and i just aaagh. im really sorry if this comes across odd but man ive been struggling lately (to put it lightly) and seeing the stuff u make is so eye opening if that makes sense? like it has so much whimsy and love put into it, it makes me go "oh so these are the feelings that make life worth living. this is why im here"

I miss the feeling I had when I first joined this fandom, I knew virtually nothing so everything was correct and I loved everything, even if that stuff just isn’t true, i was like

Mm. I do find it a little exhausting trying to navigate the lines of what's canon, what shouldn't be canon (but is due to racism/sexism/homophobia/etc.), and just having fun.

I'm also trying to cultivate the mindset of what I've seen on Tumblr about not policing other people's ships/ideas. I am highly uncomfortable with some (particularly underaged people and adults dating), but I'm also not leaving hate comments. Like you said, the backspace exists for a reason.

Idk. There's a toooon of takes/ideas about the batfam that are inherently false, but as long as they aren't racist/sexist/etc takes, I don't see the harm in them. So what if someone wants a coffee obsessed Tim? So what if Jason's kill code is very strict? As long as they don't claim it's canon, let them be

But yeah. I have a mile long exclude list for fics on AO3. I used to use it only for triggers (I can not do stockhold syndrome, my lords), but now it's got other weird ass shit I've stumbled upon (I saw a fic where the batkids were spanked as punishment??? Like I said, not gonna leave hate comments or single anyone out. Just not my cup of tea).

I also am usually not a fan of romance/sex. It's why the batfam intrigued me so much (found families usually don't have that in it). I like exploring dynamics outside of romance and thus love the batfam. They've got so much going on that romance/sex is not needed. They are such a mess without that dynamic being added (talking about the Bats getting with a third party, but, again, trying not to yuck anyone's yum).

However, I agree. There's a ton of misinformation within fandom. I like how complex canon gets with the characters, but there's also widely different takes with them (mostly talking about Bruce here. He can either be trying or just a straight up horrible dad).

I HAVE A BONE TO PICK WITH NINTENDO ABOUT THE COLORS THEY PUT PEARL IN. I SWEAR TO GOD THEYRE DOING THIS SHIT INTENTIONALLY AND IT UPSETS ME CAUSE I LOVE PEARL SO FUCIKIGN MUCH.

ANYWAY, THEY ALMOST ALWAYS PUT HER IN COLORS THAT WASH HER OUT. LIKE HER MAIN THREE OUTFITS ARE MOSTLY *WHITE* OR LIGHT PINK. (The pink of her hoodie actually is pretty nice, so no real hate to it). BUT SHES JUST TOO PALE FOR THE WHITE. IM SORRY ITS JUST THE TRUTH.

Anyways, Pearl wearing darker colours is so peak and she needs to wear more ASAP! Like idk how she does it but when she wears darker clothes, it suddenly clicks in my brain on why Pearl is beloved.

Also, not relating to her clothing but her skin, but sometimes she's literally just pure white in some art. They be out here not only making their dark skin idols less dark in art, but also making their most pale idol even more pale! They sucked the blood and melanin out of her bro i cannot believe this /hj
