I can't seem to get lucky enough to see that line again where sylus says "beasts don't belong in a cage" in destiny cafe, but besides that, I think that how sylus views himself is one of the most interesting parts of his character.

throughout our journey with sylus and in the anecdotes, we often see this reoccurring theme of beasts or "taming", like how sylus tamed his horse in no defense zone, and how he offered to take the man's dog out on a walk that had issues with people other than its owner in wander in wonder, and especially how he chose to tame the dragon instead of killing it in adventure above clouds. I personally think that sylus often finds himself sympathizing with these animals who are viewed as "troublesome" or "beastly" by other people, as he often also has to, or have taken in the past, the burden of being the "beast", whether it is others who label him as such, or if he purposefully takes on a terrifying demeanour as a means to an end.

^^ an example of this is when he frees the beasts from the overlords artificial garden, and during this anecdote, we can see some short details of what sylus is thinking during this time regarding the feelings of the caged beasts. when he frees them and recognises their need for vengeance against the people responsible for imprisoning them, it's like sylus is saying: "the ones who have been treated as monsters desire the blood of their wrongdoers. what did you think was going to happen after keeping them locked away for so long?" here, sylus is the beast, recognising his other fellow beasts, and his form of vengeance is granting them freedom from their isolation, and allowing them to take their own vengeance against their wrongdoers instead of doing it for them.

sylus is actually way more sympathetic than people give him credit for, especially towards animals, as he was also caged and treated as such, like how he was imprisoned in tartarus. I also think that when his myth drops we will also see this reoccurring narrative tool being used again, since the form that we vaguely see him take in the flashback to MCs previous life with him IS terrifying and beast-like. this appearance that he has took (which is sort of suggested to be his true form due to the multiple references there is of sylus directly saying that his current body isn't real) could possibly be what led him to alienate himself from everyone else, as people are naturally terrified by beast-like creatures and want to keep them locked away where they are isolated from everyone else.

and with the whole "taming" thing, I just think to myself how much he trusts MC?? like, it is also a reoccurring narrative tool in sylus' story where taming or some sort of bondage is involved, and I otherwise wouldve thought that sylus would hate the idea of being bound with how he desires control, but then here he is throwing himself at MC whenever a situation of him being bound by her or TO her is involved, as if she is the only one who can tug him by his leash and he'd willingly follow. honestly he's like a big guard dog..

overall, I think sylus has a tendency to objectify himself as a result of many things, such as his reputation as a beast, his lack of self-preservation due to his indestructible (as far as we know) body, and how he insists on how MC should use him to her advantage. I also love his relationship with animals and it is sometimes upsetting to see how MC thinks that sylus is incapable of extending kindness to others (though she does not think this anymore since she has developed a deeper relationship with sylus and has a better read on his character) and I hope MC can be beside him on his journey to hopefully put an end to his self objectification or at least find ways to get him in a healthier mindset and have a better attitude about himself 🥹

Star Crossed Myth - Review of Zyglavis, Hue and Scorpio

My current Star Crossed Myth career is at its peak - I wholly finished three routes (yes, that much, envious?) and now I need to unleash my brainrot. The finished routes: Zyglavis, Hue, Scorpio - in this order. 2:1 for Punishments but I suppose that is not surprise given that this game subverts the expectations of how gods should be and Punishments gods are mostly mewling kittens.

Zyglavis route as whole was, how to put it, felt like I dated a man who is older than me by 20 years. Comforting, reliable but also very lonesome and sometimes distant experience. His later parts of story were frustrating but this time the meme "my life is living hell and I have nobody but myself to blame" applies. The King shockingly is not the antagonist in this route, Zyglavis rigidity is. As much as I love strict meganes who are kind souls inside, I couldn't feel the real love and connection between him and his MC. Favorite scene in his route: The realization in his main story, where he finally acknowledged that he loves MC. The tenderness was palapable as he wiped her tears and whispered "you cry for others?" - it was very defining moment that rekindled his faith in humanity Favorite scene with Zyglavis overall: His infamous arrival in Hue's route where he breaks through window 😂 Route rating: 7,5/10

Hue... I kind of regret that I did his second. I should definitely do him last. So if you plan to play, don't do the same stupid mistake like I did. His route is full of lore and background about MC. The background especially will cause you LOTS of pain if you do his route early and then proceed to other gods. Relationship with Hue felt just right. Like two halves of one soul united and in a sense, it's true. Two halves of stars reunited 😭 I mean how much more of "their love is destiny" vibes can this get? Their banter was entertaining and witty, ocassionaly MC really flipped the tables back on Hue and it was amusing to see his reaction. Hue is definitely the brain in this relationship but his MC is not stupid either - rather, she is jealous and insecure. If you read my previous post where I ranted about this, you will understand what I mean. The ending of whole route was very unsatisfactory and the jelaousy plot of MC's was dominant arc, which annoyed the hell out of me. You know what would be absolutely perfect ending for Hue? If he got Scorpio's ending. Here, I said it. Favorite scene in his route: When MC travels back in time and is Clotho. Then she dies and we can see the aftermath - Hue, standing in the darkness of his room and MC clinging to his lifeless, breathing body. He just pulled out his eye for her, effectively crippling himself in the name of love even if the result was uncertain. The sheer rawness of the moment, the despair and mourning - it all deeply resonated with me. Favorite scene with Hue overall: The sequel (?) ending where Hue and MC talk their feelings and MC admits that she thought the source of Hue's uneasiness was his dissatisfaction with their lovemaking. Hue is literally speechless for a moment because it would never ever occur to him that THIS was one of MC's concerns. The aftermath to this scene is 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Rating: 9,5/10 - I blame overused jelaousy plot. Once, it was nice. Using it all the time was rather tiresome.

Scorpio, the local tsundere god from Wish- ahem, Heavens. He definitely is the most rude LI that I had the honor to date 😂 I don't really like tsundere types and at first, I really couldn't warm up to Scorpio. But his scene with train tickets won me over - man was extremely cute 😂 However, in terms of relationship, his and MC's reminds me of italian couple - they argue, loudly and violently, and then they probably hate-fuck or make up. Not the most healthy dynamic on the market but hey, it's otome, red flags are welcome. Needless to say, that Scorpio became green flag in disguise. His explosive vocabulary and prickliness won't go ever away but he softens significantly and opens up to MC. It was very heartwarming to see the progress fromt he begining, where he couldn't read MC's emotions at all to the end, where one look at her face was enough for him to deduce what she is thinking. The constant source of comedy in this route was Scorpio's mind reading ability and his open defiance to the King. Yes, the King. If I thought that the King was extremely tame in Hue's route, in Scorpio's the King is main antagonist and the biggest dick in universe. "Sparkly bastard. Sorry excuse for a king. That bitch." - Scorpio, circa 2015 This route had absolutely the best ending of all three - literally the ideal outcome that I wished would happen in Hue's. The real promise of Infinity together. I don't know what I expected but it really was not the most romantic rendition of Sleeping Beauty. Favorite scene in this route: Rabbit. Apples. The first time when they come up, the scene is SO darn cute. Then the apples become the staple of the route and source of comfort between MC and Scorpio. CUTE. Favorite scene with Scorpio overall: My knees went weak from that CG and moment where Scorpio and MC couldn't touch each other. They were in MC's apartment and Scorpio was about to leave. The longing, the love, the passion when they touched and kissed as the glass window separated them... *slaps seal of forbbiden longing* This is how it should be done. Rating: 10/10, no regrets. They said fuck the King and really did it.

So I was thinking they’d be separate things, since everyone can get married, but not everyone will find their soulmate.

As a before-wedding tradition, they'd give each other a small task to complete as “proof” of love, something small that is within the power of both. It could be something simple like picking up a special flower, a pearl from the sea, or even forging something, ring, knife, whatever that person is into. But I was thinking it could also turn into a proper epic quest if one of the parties does not want to get married, or is unsure :)) Stay a dragon! Break a curse! Prove that devotion, baby!

The wedding ceremony itself would have some handfasting, where both would pick three cords and weave them together into a longer string that will then be used to tie their hands together - a physical representation of their love and commitment to one another. It was usually done by the Faerie Queen, but since the curse, the court lords have stepped in a few times. There'd be a 7 day revel after, of course. As for the mating bond, I imagine it would be something rather rare, and slightly terrifying for some :)) Questions of Fate and Destiny and "are these feelings even real" could come into play. Paired with the idea that another person would basically always feel you, always sense your mood changes and your feelings. Guilt, shame, fear, jealousy, every not so pretty emotion would be laid out bare to them.

So it would be something not very common, that not many people strive for, hence not that much ceremony to it. I was thinking that accepting the mating bond would be something very intimate, like telling each other their true names - which in itself would be a leap of faith from the person saying it first. The controlling aspect of knowing the true name would be negated in a way, since both parties know the other’s.

As a bit of a side note - I, personally, really, really like the idea of rejecting the mating bond :)))) But I don’t think it will fit with the tone of the story. If I had more time and coding skills, I would have loved there to be an option where the bond happens with one character, but MC can then choose another. I live for angst in other people’s stories, but generally in my own I go all lovey dovey…

i have north node/virgo exactly conjunct MC, both conjunct mars/virgo 1° ealier in my 9th house. this is *the one* placement i have the most trouble interpreting. it's almost like i can't see it the way i can see most everything else in my chart. i can only catch a glimpse now and then, but it seems pretty obvious to everyone who knows me. like a joke everybody's laughing at that i just don't get. I was wondering if you have any thoughts on this, and maybe some tips on how to better access this energy.

for more detail: this is all square my AC/sag; square venus/cancer (out of sign); trine mercury/taurus; trine neptune/capricorn. and idk if you also need to know but i have sun+moon/gemini (not making aspects to the angles).

north nodes tend to be like this. they are never things that come to us naturally. they are a destiny to fulfill during the course of the life (or over several lifetimes depending on whom you ask.)

but i think, to me, it is a clear life of service. you are meant to give to others. you start with the small things - give one starving person a sandwich, give one sad child a hug. the effects ripple and echo outwards. it may not make you famous exactly but it has a lasting effect on your community and the public at large, even into the future. the MC and the north node are both things that transcend our small human lives. it is just that small kindnesses turn into big positive consequences and this is how you are meant to live every day. of course this is true when anyone is kind - but for you it is a real vocation. your primary purpose. it is probably easier to be at home, among close people, and you can help them too, but this is meant to be quite public.

Even though it was my @missaddledmiss blog that was tagged, I'll be using my writing blog to tackle this one.

You've given me the prompting I needed to finally talk about the beast of a WIP I've only been hinting at thus far. I'm choosing the Festival of Shadows (tentative title) for this tag game.

What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it? I'm not sure there's a lesson per se. The story is a murder mystery that becomes a monster hunt, though the monster becomes harder to identify as more dark truths and conflicts of interest are uncovered. The story at its heart is a quest for truth which often requires a deeper examination of the darkness within each of the characters and the darkness they choose to tolerate. The story is about how ultimately, to get through a problem, you have to let other people help you. You don't have to do it alone. (Collective action for the win!) So I guess, that is a lesson though one that requires a lot of sacrifice and vulnerability for everyone involved.

What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)? The story takes place in the fictional American town of Hollow Grove. It's where strange things happen: where vampires, werewolves, zombies, and other mythical beings are tolerated, where the macabre is rather commonplace. For the longest time, I struggled to characterize the town beyond its eccentricities because I couldn't decide where it was. When I settled on the Midwest, a lot of things clicked into place. I drew a lot from that culture, horror media, and true crime. I also draw a lot upon history to inform the text, especially 19th-century trends like Manifest Destiny/ settler culture and progressive movements of the 1970s and how all that informs the present (circa 2017).

What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, help readers grow as a person? Mariela is trying to piece together how a dark magic ritual leads to the deaths of several members of a fringe cult within Hollow Grove and how that may tie back the Edelhaus Coalition (the main political and religious power brokers in Hollow Grove) and her own troubled family history. I simply want to tell her story, along with the stories of the rest of the cast. And I guess, how the past still influences the present, no matter how long ago it may seem. Certain things stick with you. Certain things shouldn't be brushed off because "it happened so long ago."

How many chapters is your story going to have? This monster is projected to be 65 chapters give or take a few. We'll see what survives the editing process.

Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it? This is an original work. As for posting, I haven't made my mind up about that yet. I'll cross that bridge when I finish it.

When and why did you start writing? I started the Festival of Shadows story back in 2017 as a fun weekly challenge to myself for the new year to flesh out all these new characters I created for Hollow Grove and to flesh out the world itself. The earliest draft ended up taking a whole ten months to complete. I then put the story on the shelf until about last year when I completely revised it from the ground up. I started a second (first) draft but was forced to put the story on pause again to flesh out certain plot threads neglected in that one. This has truly been a long labor of love.

Do you have any words of engagement for fellow writers of Writeblr? What other writers of Tumblr do you follow? I'm going to interpret engagement as encouragement so by that logic my advice would be to have fun with it and write the stories you want to read. As long as you start there, you'll go far. I know of a lot of lovely people in this space and can't wait to see what you all do and how we can help each other reach our goals.

The existentialism of Getter Robo Armageddon

The indifferent cruelty of the universe versus the indomitable human spirit. AND THE HUMAN SPIRIT IS INSIDE A COCKPIT PILOTING A GIANT WAR MACHINE

Getter Robo Armageddon, published throughout 1998 and 1999 as an OVA by studio Brain’s Base and Studio OX, is a loose interpretation of the original manga run, clearly posing as an original story with borrowed designs and concepts. Like half of all Mecha stories, we are introduced to a great war between enigmatic invading aliens and a “ultimate technology” army of mechas acting as the last stand of mankind. You have seen this stuff before. The story never greatly evolves from that, but there are some interesting themes that I think are interestingly developed. Most of it is also directly lifted from the manga, so the weird messy switching of directors mid production didn’t affect it much. Obvious spoilers here on out so if you want to watch Armageddon go do it now! It is PEAK, its animation goes RAW AF and is currently completely free and uploaded on youtube so go watch it now before it gets nuked.

So, if you’re still here and are one of the rebels that didn’t go watch GRA, let me explain some stuff real quick. The biggest plot device of the entire show is a type of energy called Getter Rays. GRays are your typical sci-fi magic juice capable of doing anything. Their discovery by humankind was the biggest revolution of all time. It is a type of super energy, the only source able to power up the iconic Getter robo itself. Throughout the show we learn, first, that GRays are a natural phenomenon beaming naturally across the universe, but it gets increasingly complex from that. GRays main effect on reality is that of forced evolution, anything that gets beamed with them evolving and mutating uncontrollably. It is alluded that not only do the GRays have some form of consciousness, deliberately seeking and choosing living beings to possess, but they are some form of weird divinity as well. If Getter Robo had a god, it would be it. The real twist comes when the invading aliens reveal to our protagonists that not only did humanity become a civilization thanks to early hominid exposure from stray GRays, but that the aliens themselves are also a product of rampant GRay induced evolution, accusing humanity of being as monstrous and animalistic as they themselves are and too arrogant to admit it. Humans and Invaders are the same exact lifeforms after all. And then something incredible happens.

The protagonists, in all their dramatic screaming, exclaim that although everything they said was true, it didn’t matter. It didn’t matter what GRays were, it didn’t matter that they were fighting what is basically the next step in evolution. Because humans have free will, and is by that free will that each and everyone has unshackled themselves from the whim of destiny. The anime literally ending in the protagonists travelling to the infinite future to fight forever against the invaders, as just the sheer will of humanity immortalized us and gave us a chance to exist. I found this to be mind-blowing, especially after simply enjoying the funny robot kill alien show up to that point. And it makes sense with the rest of the series too! By rewatching it one notices that one of the main themes is moral relativism. The MC is a literal criminal, without a “redeomption arc” and equally brutal and brutish in all episodes, yet he is still portrayed as a hero until the end. Multiple characters DO go from good to bad and then to good as well. GRays as a protrayal of god, specifically an ambivalent god that doesn’t judge and discriminate against anyone or any conduct, makes perfect sense then. The story screams in your face that GRays are not a moral force, both villains and heros utilize them to great effect, instead it is ones will that shapes what you do with them. The meaning of your life and all the reasons you have to do what you are doing, are no one else’s but yourself, and that is all your need, for that is enough to have a great existence in a world that is otherwise without meaning.

God, I'm torn on the MC's dad

It's nice that he wants to not burden us with being the Singularity, but he still sucks as a dad

And I get him having very little choice in the matter to begin with, but he's still a terrible dad

I think that both concept exist in a sense that, yeah, he's a terrible dad. It's undeniable that his absence ruined our lives. There's a horrible blow everytime you meet someone in the skies who tell you our father was like a real father to them, while he has been absent of our lives.

But he's trying to be a good person with the knowledge of our impact on the world, at the scale of the world, while also trying to figure out if there's a way to save us from it. He wants to do good, he wants to help us out as well, but he just can't unconditionally love us as long as we're a threat.

In most scenario, i'd say a parent who doesn't unconditionally love their child is a disgrace of a parent. But in a scenario where the fate of the world literally rests on this concept, it's difficult to fully hold him accountable.

Personally i blame everything on Bahamut because it's ultimately his fault that all of this ended up happening, that our destiny was wrapped this way, that our father was tasked with the burden of our destiny as well.

But as it is, i still think our father sucks, but he doesn't really have a choice not to suck in his situation. He's doomed before he even get a start at it.

I truly hope that once we find him we don't actually get all lovey dovey with him. The hurt of his absence has cut too deep for it to be solved even if he decides to be nice to us now.

But it's hard to fully hate him when he is doing the best he can with the cards he has been dealt with. and those cards fucking suck to start with.

The comic kind of sucked, honestly. If the play was similar it wasn’t very good.

Comic plot synopsis, as best I can remember:

Regular Earth guy with a standard 70s superhero body and a history of psychiatric problems (“David Carson”) discovers that his hallucinations of various weird things were all either real or memories, and he is actually the incarnation of a hero (“Lord Cumulus”) from a civilization in another dimension with both magic and sci-fi (“Fen-ra”). Sadly, his memories are only partial and his special hero powers don’t work very reliably so after being brought “home” he’s still a clueless, useless idiot who constantly needs to be rescued from peril by his sometimes-lover, strict-and-emotionless-but-secretly-vulnerable-soldier-woman (“Sargon, Mistress of War”). The villain (“Prince Chaos”), who is supposed to be utterly and completely evil but also charming and charismatic, is scheming to overthrow/take over everything, with the assistance of his faintly insectile sorceress/seductress girlfriend (“Valaria”) and her enormous brood of flat-out-insect children.

The MC is urgently needed because apparently the universe is falling apart and only he can find the god who created it (“He Who Dreams”), who is the only one who can save it. After lots of wasted time, it turns out that god lost a lot of his power when one of his three children — his daughter (“Ego”) — rebelled against him eons ago and is gradually aging and in danger of dying. As punishment for her rebellion, the daughter would have been killed, but instead only has a physical existence when her two brothers are touching each other, and when she exists they do not. In addition to never being able to see their sister again, the brothers also basically ceased to be gods and merely became reincarnating epic figures with no memory of their true identity, and are of course the MC and the villain. They find the rapidly-dying god, who yells at them for taking so long and makes them summon the sister, who kisses god on the lips, which rejuvenates and re-empowers him, and incidentally frees his children. The now-restored gods go off into seclusion, leaving the supporting characters at a loose end.

After some side stories, it is revealed that the ancient friendly wizard (“Lugulbanda”), who was the MC’s advisor/servant and stand-in while he was away being reincarnated without memories, had become corrupt and had been misdirecting the MC all through the first part on purpose (which is why god was angry that they were late), and was hoping to kill god and steal his powers. He attacks the secluded gods; the daughter is harmed but the others counterattack and wipe away the corruption from the wizard but spare him. In order to save the daughter, the three children have to go back into the former condition of no longer being gods and not existing all the time, so the hero-MC and the villain are returned to existence and the creator god goes off on his own.

After some more adventures, the MC gets tired of being screwed over by destiny and being a doormat for any- and everyone, and deliberately finds the villain and summons the daughter again, but then immediately pulls away to split back up, which permits him to exchange with the villain the parts of his personality which he perceives as being the cause of his being screwed over again and again, which makes MC into an imperious callous egomaniac, while the villain becomes more cautious and just a generally nicer person. MC causes all kinds of trouble, including eventually killing his sometimes-lover for not liking him any more because he’s such a jerk now, and eventually screws up so badly that god shows back up and yells at the pseudo-MC for throwing everything out of balance and nearly killing his sister by forcing her to split back up prematurely rather than voluntarily. As punishment, MC is sent back to Earth without his hero powers, comatose in a hospital. In the last panel, it is revealed that the nurse who intends to take care of him for the rest of his life is his revived sometimes-lover.

There were crossovers with some other First Comics titles, including Grimjack, which has the interesting consequence that the serial comic Girl Genius may technically take place in the same narrative universe as Warp!.

Unpopular opinion: Team Guy had the MOST protagonic vibes of them all.

Seriously, they would have been a much better main cast.

Lee has major MC vibes, he is one that truly stands up for hard work, it's not favoured by any external circunstances (the opposite, actually) and has real moral values (he doesn't justify bad actions if made by people he likes, unlike Naruto). Also, they involve a relationship of TRUE rivalry inside the team, being Neji a real, healthy rival and not a straight out antagonist/enemy.

Going on with Neji, he has a compelling and complex background story that credits his behaviour/mentality even if he was wrong on his interpretation of his clan and what destiny is, AND he is able to acknowledge his mistake and grow from it, which makes him a mature person and not just a boy making tantrums each time he's proven wrong. In fact, Neji is low-key wanting to be proven wrong, which means he partially might be aware of his misinterpretations, but is so fixated on the ideas he created as a copying mechanism since he was 4 YO he can't let go, until helped by others and mainly, told the truth for once in his life (he was just such a greatly constructed character in OG)... AND the resolution of his background story doesn't significantly changes his dynamics with his team and his rival because those are healthy, well constructed bonds and he is a proper individual on his own, not attached to someone else to validate himself. Besides, Neji is a TRUE genious, who made even someone as Kakashi (who was a prodigy himself, student of 4° hokage = genius and teammate of Itachi and probably Shisui = both geniouses) question how is that someone as incredible as Neji even exists (this is canon from his fight with Hinata, but was conveniently forgotten after that in order to nerf Neji so he wouldn't outshine Naruto and Sasuke... Kakashi also states Sasuke is no close to rival Neji's genious).

And we have Tenten who is, for once, not disminished by an obsessive infatuation with anyone, but an independent kunoichi that works hard and has goals of her own, she ambitions to be a legendary kunoichi all for herself, not to impress anyone. Also, she is not biased towards any of her teammates and doesn't relies on them (and this is a major point in this team, not any one of them rely on the others, but actually work TOGETHER).

This is a team were no inner pairing is needed, may be even would be damaging, because they are perfect as teammates, so they can leave the romance triangles and so on, they would find that with someone outside themselves.

And on top, we have a sensei that actually involves in his students training and growth, in every sense and unbiased. I know, he is closer to Lee, but that is out of Lee being naturally more emotional and therefore more fond of him, also Lee respects him the most and is constantly searching for his guidance because he is committed to his goals. It comes from Lee, not from Guy neglecting the other two.

This is a true healthy team that deserves their own reboot of the series, having them front enemies and interacting with other teams without the unnecessary drama and plot armour all the time. (And I mean, a reboot of a serious series. Their spin off is great, but is comedy, so I feel I doesn't makes them justice. And they deserve some justice).

Can I request head cannons of the Brothers and Undatables reacting to an MC that has Galaxy eyes? They’re a glossy purple-blue with white star flecks instead of pupils that change everytime they blink and shines brighter when they’re happy/excited. MC doesn’t blush red, but they get a purple dust across their face and ears with mini constellations scattered on it too. Should they cry, they have very sparkly tears, and finally they love to joke about being an alien (since humans normally don’t have such eyes) but they have baby pictures to prove their eyes are natural (even showing their family has similar eyes like them)

This is literally such a cool concept?? MC would be the talk of Devildom with eyes like that. It was a bit hard to get every detail in there so I mainly focused on the galactic eyes.

He had never met someone with such mesmerizing eyes before.

Your eyes were certainly something special, and he wasn’t even aware someone could have a whole universe hidden in their eyes.

Lucifer would certainly tease you about the whole not being human thing, and despite your pleas that it was true, somewhere deep down he was skeptical.

You could often find him distracted by his work, just watching the glimmer in your eyes.

Mammon

Honestly? He was absolutely terrified of you at first.

Levi has made him watch way too many scary alien movies.

He would 100% avoid you for the first week or so, then probably follow you around to really assure himself that you weren’t going to magically sprout like, tentacles and kill him to take over the world.

When he came around, he would get lost in your eyes, almost literally. He would forget how to speak, or he would lose all focus and stop speaking mid sentence. 

He also totally tried to sell pictures of your eyes online.

Levi

Similar to Mammon, he had his anxiety that you were alien at first, but he wasn’t as bad.

He was more dazed by how beautiful your eyes were.

Having only seen this type of thing in anime, he was completely overwhelmed by the fact that you were very much real and in front of him. 

Levi was so keen on getting you to cosplay as his favorite characters.

Most of the time you could find him secretly staring at you, admiring your special appearance.

He certainly refrained from calling you normie, as that definitely did not apply to you, looking the way you did.

Satan

Oh boy. 

He had only ever heard of the whole ��stars in your eyes” as an expression before.

Never once did he think it was actually based on truth. 

Once he had met you, seen your galactic appearance, he would go into full detective mode. He spent the night awake, searching through books to find any information on how this could be real. 

He was in complete denial and disbelief.

But eventually he just accepted it. 

He would purposely try to make you smile and blush to admire the way you reacted. 

Satan was simply amazed in every way.

Asmo

He was in love with how unique you were. 

Never had he seen someone quite as intriguing as you before. Aside from himself of course.

He would stare into your eyes all day if you let him. 

Expect a ton of devilgram pictures with you both.

Asmo would beg you to let him do galaxy makeup on you to compliment your eyes even more. 

Who would’ve thought a human could charm the Avatar of Lust like the way you did?

He didn’t even notice at first.

He thought you were just an average ordinary human actually. 

It wasn’t until the other brothers were drawn to you that he really understood. 

When he first saw the dazzling sparkle of stars in your eyes he was just as mesmerized as his brothers.

Beel couldn’t help but smile when he saw you, the small galaxy behind your eyes always reminded him of Belphie.

Did someone say love at first sight? 

With as much as Belphie loves the stars, he would cling to you. 

Always finding himself lost just watching your eyes.

Belphie always had a smile on his face when he looked at you. 

He would ramble to you about different constellations he spotted within the glimmering speckles in your eyes. 

You are by far the greatest human he could’ve ever met. It was like destiny. Like all of the stars had magically aligned.~

love's arrows

a study on love at first sight and how it relates to vyn's character

first things first, we have to get a major misconception out of the way. yes, vyn believes in love at first sight, he says so himself, right in the first level of the second episode of his personal story. one of his students asks him about it, and vyn spells out his exact thoughts on it. i will quote precisely what he says:

context - vyn explains love at first sight from a psychologist's point of view to his student, making it sound akin to an illusion

student: falling for an illusion... is love real then?

vyn: love is an emotion that cannot be quantified and measured. what matters is what you truly feel. when passion fades away, you will know true love if you still want to be with that person.

student: professor, do you believe in love at first sight?

vyn: personally? yes, i do believe in love at first sight.

student: really? i thought someone as rational as you wouldn't believe in such an... illusion.

vyn: being an illusion or not does not mean it should be discredited and dismissed. also, feelings of love are not rational to begin with. i am only human as well. however... when it happens to me, i would step back to make assessments instead of jumping at the chance. it is worth the wait to see if everything is really just a mirage, or is indeed real.

student: there's a way to find out? can you tell me how?

vyn: it is nothing hard. all you need to do is take the time to observe. observe their attitude and views regarding certain things, especially life-concerning matters. one's reactions more or less tell of their true character.

now that we are all on the same page, we can clearly tell the meaning of vyn's words. what he declares in this dialogue is his entire love philosophy - it describes the way in which he relates to love and to mc in very direct and bold terms, laid out for the player to see. not only does vyn believe in love at first sight, but he also has a plan in regards to how he is going to handle his newfound feelings of adoration. the reason why he keeps questioning mc's principles and beliefs, why he is interested in her hobbies and opinions, why he invites her to spend time with him, be it at art galleries, polo matches or merely in the comfort of his own home; it is all because he wants to get to know her, and he wants her to know him as well, in order to establish whether a relationship would be beneficial to both of them.

vyn richter is an analytical and rational man, that much is true. he is a perfectionist, seeking knowledge and reassurance in the world of facts. he appreciates when things are certain, and he lives his life with the need to be aware of every possible outcome, at any given time. however, this does not mean that he is not in touch with his feelings, or that he does not believe in love - i believe that a bunch of players do not notice this about him, believing instead that he only relies on science and reason. truthfully, vyn is perhaps the most introspective out of the entire cast of characters - he conducts psychological reports on himself in order to be aware of his current state and feelings, after all.

the next question would be "what made vyn fall for mc?", which has a quite simple answer. after the conversation with his student, vyn has a flashback to his first meeting with mc, back when he challenged her to remove a card from the house of cards, without having it collapse. after she expectedly fails, he asks a simple question: whether she would have still tried to remove a card, after having known the outcome. much to his surprise (or delight, rather), mc responds like so:

mc: the only constant in the world is change. and so, so what if i knew that the cards would collapse? i could always pick a different card. maybe the outcome would change. even if i drew the same card again, the outcome might be different depending on how i remove the card, right? i believe that we shape our own fates.

mc's words moved vyn at the time, and they still do, especially her last remark. this paragraph will contain spoilers for vyn's backstory, so in case you are not aware of his origins, and do not wish to know before finding out yourself, i suggest skipping this section. the ability to shape one's own destiny is something vyn longs for. having been born in a royal family, his life had been laid out in front of him before he even had the chance to choose for himself. although he left the Kingdom of Svart, and supposedly cut ties with his family, vyn is still plagued by the thought that he has no control over his fate. when mc reassures him that she believes in change, she believes in the power of choice, vyn is awestruck. it is all he has ever longed for: a person who would understand his stance and his hardships.

the wish to be known is what starts burning under vyn's ribs that day - the possibility that someone might be able to grasp all of his intricacies and beliefs is laid out right in front of him, materialised in the form of mc. and so, he falls. hard.

then why is he so hesitant? another question with a fairly simple answer. vyn believes in love at first sight, and even has an optimistic and idealistic view on love:

vyn: love brings light and hope into your life. love lifts you up. true love can come at any time, even without you knowing.

the next paragraph will contain slight spoilers for vyn's relationship with his father. they are not as grand as the previous ones, but if you still do not wish to know before experiencing the story yourself, i suggest skipping. if vyn has such sweet and bright perspectives on love, and if he has such a well-crafted plan for approaching mc, why is he so uncertain sometimes? because he is scared, and it has to do with his family. his father had gone through the same thing - he fell in love at first sight with a woman, and yet their relationship fell apart. vyn observed this, and he kept witnessing his father's regret and shame throughout the years. he does not wish to go through the same tragedy, so he desperately fights against following his father's steps. when he falls for mc, the fear of losing her, of ending up alone, scarred and sorrowful, makes him reluctant. even so, her words of encouragement, her belief that one can craft their own fate, push him forward.

he becomes more confident over time, wishing to make her fall for him. his possessiveness has roots in those same feelings: vyn does not want to lose mc when he barely started gaining a grasp on her. so he becomes jealous whenever a threat, as small or irrelevant, appears. he becomes grumpy, angry, cold whenever another man shows the slightest hint of interest, not because he thinks that he owns mc, but because he wishes to be with her, to be the only one she sees, in the same way she is the only one he cares about. so he fights - he fearlessly fights for his chances with her, he defends her in front of everybody, he learns new things and skills just for her, for a sliver of her affection and attention.

in conclusion, vyn loves mc carefully, with studied steps. he never takes reckless decisions when it comes to her, because since the first moment he saw her, she became the light in his eyes, the only one worth all the effort. it is either her or nothing, and vyn is not going to risk his chances - not after witnessing his father's destiny. vyn will be different; he will be better. all for mc.
