being on tumblr during us elections is wild. my dash is always filled with posts about how if you don't vote to those democrats you're the scum of the earth, etc, and like... yes, i do understand harm mitigation, i really do, and i respect the logic behind the mindset, but the hostility towards even the faintest idea of someone expressing their political beliefs any other way is still wild.

Hello everyone. I’ve been seething these days because the medical school I go to is renaming a room after some transphobic, racist and misogynistic texas congresspeople that assisted our school with obtaining federal funding (basically making it so that student doctors don’t have to pay as much tuition, which really helps out low-income medical school students.) They are texas state senator Creighton and representative Metcalf.

HOWEVER as nice as this assistance was, I am vehemently against the naming of the room after these clowns.

1. Senator creighton supports legislation that is vehemently Anti-Healthcare.

these are some of the “certain treatments” prohibited for trans kids btw:

just purely hateful, knowing that gender confirming care SAVES THE LIVES OF TRANS CHILDREN. and we are training to be DOCTORS. with the goal of NOT ending lives. extending them even. there’s an oath about it and everything.

ALSO— NAMING A ROOM IN A MEDICAL SCHOOL AFTER A DUDE THAT OPPOSES CHILDRENS HEALTHCARE IS INSANE

2. BOTH creighton and metcalf are pro-israel

Again. We’re a medical school. training doctors to help people live longer, healthier lives. we do not support genocide.

I don’t even understand how making bills like this is even fucking allowed.

3. helping their representative community is their fucking job. We literally Voted Them Into Office For This Purpose. They are otherwise useless.

Honestly, their voting record gets worse. You can verify metcalf and creighton’s voting records at the links on their names.

some days ago, i made a post. that post sparked discussion, and a poll was suggested. so i made one. it lasted a week with over 1000 people participating, and here are the results!

the poll question was:

when a person you're sexually attracted to tells you they're not interested in sex, do your sexual thoughts / feelings about them stop?

final results:

i am now going to attempt to summarize these results. i will preface this by saying i have no formal training or education in statistics, so it's possible i fucked up somewhere, but i tried my best.

out of 1155 people surveyed:

23% chose one of the 4 allosexual options (approx. 266 people)

24.9% chose one of the 4 acespec options (approx. 288 people)

the majority - 44.1% - said they didn't feel sexual attraction at all (approx. 509 people)

7.9% weren't sure if they were acespec (approx. 91 people)

the latter two are quite useless information for the purposes of this survey: i only put them in because i know people like to press buttons and feel included. i will disregard them for the rest of this post.

since there was a bit more people in the acespec group than in the allo group overall, i will take each of the two groups as its own 100% so i can compare them proportionally instead of directly.

after fucking with the numbers a bit here's what i got:

no: 33.5% of allos, 17.7% of acespecs

i won't actively think about it, but feelings will persist: 35.2% of allos, 27.3% of acespecs

sometimes yes, sometimes no / it depends: 24.3% of allos, 35.3% of acespecs

yes: 6.9% of allos, 19.7% of acespecs

for a while, "no" was leading for the allos, but at the end "won't actively think about it" won out. those are their two top options, almost equal in popularity.

"yes" for allos was the least popular of all the options by far, so i think it's safe to assume the thing i shared in the post that started this was not, in fact, very allosexual of me.

the acespec half surprised me a little: while "no" was the least popular acespec response, "yes" was only barely above it, and the two biggest groups are the "on the fence" ones. for me this really emphasizes how diverse and complex acespec experiences are.

in general, the poll confirmed my hypothesis, which was that for allos sexual attraction doesn't "switch off" as often or as easily as it does for acespecs.

A Love Story (Trump Brackets Part 2)

So I was watching Trump Brackets! They are absolutely great by the way, if you guys haven’t heard about them. Basically all the people watching young Turks vote weekly on the worst things Trump has said, and they get discussed in a short YouTube video. One of the winners of Week 2 was Trump declaring his love for the communist dictator Kim Jong Un, and I felt the had to do a comic about it. If you guys watch these videos, they give a lot more insight about why Trump can’t be president and after watching it, I’m like wow, how is this guy allowed to run?? He’s a rapist, he’s been impeached twice, has bragged about raping people, put his dead wife’s grave in one of his golf courses for a TAX BENEFIT, says he’ll go against the entire constitution, is willing to have people who speak out against him/ his political opponents be locked up, wanted to have the police shoot protestors coming before his speech, only to use tear gas because they told him he couldn’t do that. He of course wants to greatly diminish the rights of Queer Trans people, further stop people from getting abortions, oh yeah, and he’s locking people up in cages at the border, who are coming to the us from war torn countries, conflicts that the US more often than not *caused*. And Trump has been speaking of having police forces be constant presence, who will come and lock people up I belive who have legally immigrated as well as far as I understand. The man is just disgusting. I cannot belive he’s not being locked in a prison cell *right* now. The man who told everyone to drink bleach in the Covid pandemic and brags about sexual assault. I highly recommend checking out Trump Brackets (also known as What’s the Worst Thing Donald Trump has Done?) and spreading the word anyway you can, wether that’s voting, reblogging this post, or telling your friends and neighbors just a handful of these reasons.
