So, I watched the first episode of “Those About To Die” on Peacock.

I enjoyed it, and Im willing to do write ups if folks would be interested…

Since I wana talk about details, and I dont wana spread spoilers, everything is below the readmore.

What I liked: 🔵 And what I disliked: 🟠

Total Ranking: 8/10 - very good, worth the watch 👍

🟠 It dove into the Intrigue right away, which made it hard to watch while doing other things, but I can appreciate a show that grabs you by the shoulders and shoves you down into the couch to pay attention.

🔵 It wasn’t boring, quite the contrary, I felt fully engaged throughout the episode. Theres a lot of small moving parts to the story, and it orchestrates together incredibly well so far, even for Episode One. The writing is very well done, which is a lynchpin for me on a show like this. You cant pretend to be an intrigue type series without a proper plot. And, in my opinion, they’ve set their plots well right away. Tenax getting those shares in Blue was a great con, which had clearly been going a while, but we only saw the tail end of it. I see this little setup as a great look at how the writers DO their work. Connections matter, money does more than talk, and if you play the game wrong, you die. Don’t trust anyone.

🔵 I REALLY enjoyed the historical aspects of the first episode. Like, yes, this plot happened, its a historical fiction and a number of these characters exist in history, but its not just that. Its the small details, the different knives in different cultures, the veterinary care of race horses, the deities from more than just the main roman pantheon, the drinkware, the VARIOUS clothes from various cultures and climates…. And yes, women often went topless when they were a sxwrkr. Gotta advert.

🔵 ON THAT SUBJECT: can we talk about “3 sesterce… and Im tighter than both of them.” MY BOY, YOU ARE RIZZIN TOO HARD AND I LOST IT. Please, please let him be in future episodes. Omfg….

🟠 I am forced to concede the accuracy isnt PERFECT, the horses wore modern driving bridles to go with their ancient styled chariots. However, Im realistic about how many horses are trained today to pull anything without blinders, and how much safer modern bridles are. I’ll also note: I absolutely saw the animal handler grab the horse differently (calmly) before the riot surrounded it, then direct the horse to dance in the crowd. Great training with the horse! Bad camera angle. Lol

🔵 I also really like this cast so far. Everyone fills their roles incredibly well.

Hopkins doesnt even need an introduction, the mans a legend and brings all his experience to the stage with him every time. -chefs kiss-

Rheon was great in GOT, he plays calculatingly unhinged exceptionally well. But I wont lie, seeing him in a more commanding, level headedly calculating person?

Hashim….. HASHIM!!! Im SO excited to see where his character goes. We haven’t seen much of him in Ep 1 just yet, but he’s clearly going to be one of the main players. Im not familiar with him as an actor, but I’ve enjoyed his performance so far, and I REALLY appreciate the story being told.

Martins is also incredible. She does a fantastic job of knowing the danger her characters children are facing, but also knowing she HAS to play her cards right to save them. She personifies the strength and determination of a mother perfectly.

🔵 Quite honestly, I have to give points to that whole plot-line in general. That point of view is something we’ve had hidden from us (in America) for so long, that I think a LOT of people have… become calloused. I hope seeing it will potentially help others come to an empathetic understanding. This isn’t glossing over what happened, or whats likely to happen to any of the three children.

🔵 I also want to gush over actually SHOWING the wider Roman Empire, we get to see the direct effect of their influence in both Africa and Spain so far. Egypt was their bread basket, and without that grain, youve got problems. The Berber Coast has animals, and people they want, and we see money exchanging hands for the purpose of those ends. We see how the locals were told they’d be treated fairly, paid properly, and even eventually become citizens, like the Spaniards, only to have those promises thrown aside as soon as the Romans have better money to make. These people gave the Empire everything it wanted, but the Empire is never satisfied.

We also get to appreciate how far west the empire went when the Spaniards are trying to sell their horses. (Plot-bunny: Andies are dancing horses, exceptionally athletic, and a prime choice for chariots, though, a standardbred is the usual choice for modern cart racers)

🟠 I will say the CGI isnt the best. You can tell exactly when they change from live action to CGI. But this is a minor issue for me tbh. Its passable CGI, and they use it to avoid putting animals or people in danger which, obviously, I appreciate. A chariot wreck was shown, annnnnd it was pretty darn accurate to how messy those would have been. Not good times y’all. Not good times. Also, the ramifications of a major concussion. Oof. At least the guy would have barely knew what was happening? Still.

🔵 The sound effects were enough without being over the top. Often times when theres gore to show, theres all these extra squelching noises and gratuitous blood… not this time. It’s actually… pretty durn accurate. Don’t ask how I know. I don’t wana tell you, and you dont wana know.

Overall, it was a really solid first episode, and I plan on watching the rest.

MY ARGUMENT FOR WHY LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO BY TAYLOR SWIFT FITS OSWALD COBBLEPOT A LITTLE TOO WELL

So people seemed quite interested in my thoughts on this sooo here ya go! :p

Spoilers for Gotham (2014) obvs

For context the song fits with Oswald’s Season 3 Arc, where he becomes mayor of Gotham and is taken down and killed by Edward after Oswald kills Ed’s ‘weird ass totally-a-clone-of-his-dead-ex’ girlfriend, Isabella. Oswald survives because of course he does, and plots his revenge against Ed for the rest of the season. AND HE FUCKING GETS IT BECAUSE HES OSWALD FUCKING COBBLEPOT

Anyway lets get into the lyrics shall we?

First off, Riddler is known for his games and puzzles, and in particular his whole revenge plan might have been seen as a game to both of them, with Ed seeing it as a strategic game to destroy Oswald, and Oswald seeing it as a childish game played unfairly to Ed’s own agenda. The tilted stage also ties to Riddler’s showmanship and love of being in the spotlight, as well as how, to Oswald’s perspective, he’s putting himself up on a pedestal while criticising Oswald despite everything Oswald has done for him (I think Oswald definitely saw Isabella’s murder as an act of kindness or love, the latter might be canon too?) Oswald being forced to play the fool is pretty self-explanatory, he was thrown through the rings of Ed’s deception and tests none the wiser to Ed being the culprit.

I think even Oswald would have to admit that Ed outplayed him, using everything he knew about Oswald, all his weaknesses and vulnerabilities, to completely ruin his life and prove a point (even if that point got disproven because he accidentally proved Oswald WAS capable of real love lmao) And how Oswald, as paranoid and wary as he is, still did not believe for a second that Ed would betray him. (This is unrelated but Oswald’s trust issues is so sad to see because as the show goes on he gets increasingly more distrustful of others and by season 5 it doesn’t take much for him to go “YOUVE BETRAYED ME I FUCKING KNEW IT” poor lad). Anyway Ed is a pro at shit eating grins, and has no qualms lying to others, something I think hurts Oswald even more because he always believed that they’d be honest with one another (even though he went behind Ed’s back… hes a bit of a hypocrite guys) But Ed is also one to gloat and mock, perhaps even more than Oswald, and he definitely rubs it in Oswald’s face when he reveals that it was his plan all along, that he was behind everything. Stretching a bit with the gun here but I like to think that Oswald believed they were always on the same page, that Oswald would always call the shots so to speak, that he was the one in control. Ironically it was the shot that Oswald took that pushed Ed to take a shot of his own (i am NOT sorry for the wordplay >:] )

Speaking of wordplay. “Isn’t cool” Ahahah. Get it. Cuz. Cuz ed gets… anyway.

What does Oswald Cobblepot do best when wronged? Plan an elaborate revenge scheme of course! He learns from his mistakes, learns more about who Edward is as a person, and also learns not to let love weaken him :,). His revenge against him does what Ed initially did to him - use his flaws and characteristics to his advantage. And Oswald PLAYS HIM LIKE A FIDDLE by practically leading him to his doom, right until the reveal by the pier. Him escaping death is also surprisingly common for him, surviving from the pier not once, but TWICE by this point in the show. Not to mention all the other murder attempts on his life. The list of names would relate to Oswald’s growing enemies, his revenge hitlist so to speak, with Ed being at the very top for obvious reasons.

I think Oswald would definitely blame other people for his behaviour. Like “you made me this way, you provoked me, you forced my hand.” No dude you just love murder and vengeance get over urself. I MEAN he probably knows he’s ‘just like that’ but he’d still blame people anyway lmao.

When Ed got shipped to Arkham for girlfriend strangling and cop killing Oswald eventually got him out so he could be by his side as he campaigned for mayor of gotham, and he was pretty dedicated to being there for Ed as Ed was for him, even including him in paintings and promoting him to chief of staff. He loved him so much, and would do anything for him (even if it meant doing what he thought was for his benefit. Like killing girlfriends.) So naturally Ed ruining his life and then going off and making a name for himself as the Riddler would absolutely piss Oswald off, because to Oswald he had been so generous and a good friend/potential life partner, and this was the thanks he gets? I could also see Riddler’s rise to prominence as something Oswald would be jealous of, because thats his crime spotlight he’s stealing dammit!

Also. Also Ed stole the keys to his heart ahahahAGUGHUGHUHGAHGHH

Gotham is full of drama all day everyday 24/7, I have to imagine even Oswald gets sick of it after a while lol. Anyway he’s very good at losing himself to his own plans and thoughts driven by his emotions, pushing the rest of the world aside so he can solely focus on his revenge. He never forgets a grudge, he always gets what’s “deserved” to him (and he’s actually really good at getting revenge too, using Ed’s eventual sentence as an example). Ironically that also fits with how Oswald got his punishment for Isabella’s death, but now he’s paid the price, its Ed’s turn (and anyone else who Oswald had a vendetta against at the time. Which was probably a lot of people idk Oswald makes a lot of enemies in the show)

Again, Oswald has MAJOR trust issues and this paranoid only grows as the show goes on and more people betray or leave him. He’s also pretty sly himself, and if his plans include completely screwing you over for whatever reason, you better bet he’s going to do it.

anyways. to me pop team epic is like. somethibg that essentially changed a bit of me. because remember when I said every pairing I like's dynamics circled back to them. so.. yeah its kind of. unironic. but anyways . i'll use a few sources for this,, and probably go insane mid ramble. but anyways. i feel like the most solid showing of how theyre always bound together in a way is the entirety of season 1.

right on the chorus part youll see like. im bad at describing visuals. but it's s bunch of Versions of pipimi and popuko in different whateverthefucks, still being. pipimi and popuko. it still is them no matter what. ehat makes me even more deranged is the lyrics to sumire uesaka's POP TEAM EPIC (the song used for the season 1 intro--) lemme get the first chorus. i used this video as the source for the english lyrics

REMAKE THE WORLD. remember that pop team epic was first a 4koma. so now that that remake the world part is there, I have a sort of belief; i believe that each time the 4komas change, it's a past world, the characters have their memories like, "erased", but still stay true to themselves (" we can meet once more / while journeying through a parallel world") with the wsih to. Meet again. like do you get me. AND still using the lyrics- this is proven with the 2nd pre chorus;

AUHHHHJGG. IT'S LIKE. THEY'LL HAVE FORGOTTEN EVERYTHING EXCEPT EACH OTHER. AND THEY KNOW THEY WILL. AND AAAAGH. this also means; there are multiple pipimis and popukos from several alternate timelines and universes.

uh now we're jumping to the END end (for now) - by that I mean the season 2 finale.

if you've watched it up to episode 12, youve seen aoi and nishikawa's fight, and Remember how I mentioned how there are several pipi&popu(s) from different timelines and universes? yeah that's the exact proof of it. because of the whole army of them that just. magically summons. showing LITERALLY ALL (presumably) of the different ones from this season- pipi/poputan, pipihara and popuoka, the pop memories to you vers, a bajillion others, I AM SAYINH. LITERALLY ALL. this does go in line with aoi's storyline a bit. but I'm gona spoil a bit too much if I start talking more

so, right, as I've said before, yes there are several pipimis and popukos on different timelines. the whole thing is, I think that's beautiful. i find that theyre bound together in a way no matter how many times the scenes change and no matter how many times their memory will get erased, they will seek out for each other no matter what world. and that's. beautiful. to me. BUT. do you wanna see me get more deranged, and make such a big stretch that it straightup defies toon force (haha please laugh that was an attempt at being funny)? ok yes you do.

so a thing I see often is people drawing their blorbos as pipimi and popuko, like for example panel redraws, I've done that too, and here's where the Big Reach starts; what if even these artworks, are an example of them finding each other no matter what?

i'll be using my own comic redraw as the example- here I redrew one of the comics from pte (the cutesy sleeves one,), as the rockers. and while those are not directly pipimi and popuko, they. Kinda are indirectly, like going back to the "there are multiple pipimis and popukos and they will find each other no matter what universe" thing. they're not exactly pipimi and popuko, hell they aren't even pipimi and popuko- at least not in this universe. but still, pipimi and popuko have found each other again, even if that means- through some poorly drawn rhythm heaven fanart. because. it still connects them in that fictional universe, this one being rhythm heaven, yes. basically pipimi and popuko are a state of mind, too. their bond, and, love if you wanna see it as that- it's transcendental. it's beyond any 4th wall. it's a sort of yuri being told through absurdist loose jokes.

ausmp = area unknown smp! it’s guqqie’s server, i don’t know too much about it beyond au!scott bc i got into it just for him like a week ago and haven’t gotten around to watching much else but the vibe i get is a sort of dsmp level vibe of “friends fucking around but also heavy lore”. nobody is fully human on this server and if you think you are? think again apparently :D <- soupforeloise didn’t like that one! scott isn’t in the server from the start and when he does join he takes the role of the main villain.

au!scott is, in cc scott’s own words, what alsmp vampire scott would have been if alsmp had been more lore heavy. he’s a demon, the ruler of hell, and also aimsey’s brother. aimsey is also a demon, but was never as good (evil) at being a demon as scott. they had too much love in their heart, they were too human in nature, so they ran away to escape both hell itself and scott - until scott shows up and finds them :) scott is just. yeah. pure evil here. he’s manipulative and specifically delights in making aimsey’s life miserable. he refuses to do manual labour and everything that he owns is stolen from another player. he’s smug and awful and violent to aimsey’s face (and later eloise’s) but to everyone else he��s the new guy :) he’s lovely and friendly and everyone loves him. nobody would ever believe aimsey - a demon who already has a reputation for causing trouble - over him, right? :) he’s here to take aimsey back to hell, but he wants to stick around a bit first. for funsies. he’s smug, manipulative, lies in every sentence he says and is entirely used to getting his own way. he’s continually learning that very few things - and people - in the overworld are fireproof. he’s immortal and, unlike aimsey, is not afraid of water… no spoilers but let’s just say there is a reason au!aimsey doesn’t like water and it is not because it’s innate to demons. so no fucking wonder he’s smug he’s basically invincible for now (in lore this will change. Outside of lore owen is really fucking mad about this and keeps insisting au!scott is actually also allergic to water)

other than lying his hobbies include manipulation, twisting other people’s words to get what he wants, redecorating other people’s homes with nether items when they’re not in and more lying and making aimsey’s life miserable and more lying. the redecorating usually involves hiding corruption in their walls. incidentally he does canonically know xornoth and has said that this is similar to what xornoth used - he doesn’t personally usually use corruption, he prefers manipulation and outright brute force, but he’s curious about its effects on overworlders. however as i said he puts it in their walls rather than like massive tentacles lol.

he has a rlly fun dynamic with owen too imo. owen is a ghost with a very inconsistent memory, and scott is very interested in him because he senses something darker in him. he keeps pushing to corrupt owen by trying to get him to steal etc but they’re both playing mind games with each other because owen is also extremely sharp and is beginning to cotton on that scott is perhaps not the honest, kind and generous man he appears to be. If youve seen the axolotl thing you know exactly what i mean i watched that at like 6am because i couldn’t sleep and my heart was in my mouth.

in conclusion i love minecraft guys that are just the worst guys imaginable and au!scott is so so very up there.

okay i finished the show and i actually really liked it!!! i think that goes to top 3 for me in the flanaverse (hill house, midnight mass, house of usher) and tbh it was gory in part but i dont think overly so, and quite often the lighting was in such a way that it didnt feel soooo.. im not sure, it just did have moments that were like 'ew omg' but it didnt feel like a slasher or like it was trying to be really over gratuitous with the gore

ooh good question! i am so indecisive and so full of love for so many series that it's always been a bit of a struggle to pick out just a few absolute faves, but here are the first few that come to mind

(i'll try to keep to shorter series here)

and standard disclaimer that everything here is my opinion and my opinion only

best anime of all time: shouwa genroku rakugo shinjuu, and for me nothing even comes close

the story is told over the course of two seasons (the second being shouwa genroku rakugo shinjuu: sukeroku futabi-hen; 25 episodes total) and it is imo just an absolute masterpiece. it's a somber tale, but executed in such a masterful way. the show is centered around rakugo and rakugo performers, and felt to me like not only an incredible story but an incredible performance of the art of storytelling

i don't rewatch this one very often because it makes me so sad, but i think it's a beautiful and worthwhile sort of sadness to experience

best sports anime of all time: kaze ga tsuyoku fuiteiru (23 episodes), and once again nothing even comes close. which means a lot coming from me because i love sports anime i will watch any sports anime i love good ones i love bad ones i love them unconditionally i'm like sports anime georg so 'best sports anime' is maybe even a more significant crown than 'best anime' coming from me lmao

ahem anyway in terms of objective quality there's just nothing that beats kazetsuyo, and i highly recommend it even as a character-centric piece for people who aren't generally into sports anime. it's just that good

side note 1: while i would call kazetsuyo the 'best' sports anime, my personal favorite is eternally kurobas (though it is on the longer side)

side note 2: honorary mention to megalo box, another of my all-time favorites. it's sports + sci-fi so i typically don't count it solely as a sports anime, but i love it to bits. there is a second season that i haven't even seen yet! i've always heard the second season is even better than the first, so i've been saving it for a special day (also i'm a bit scared of it because i was so happy with the ending of the first season that i'm kinda like resistant to change lol)

best anime i can't tell you anything about: so generally i'm of the belief that spoilers don't ruin much for me, if something is done well then it's done well even if i know it's coming. that said, there are a handful of series where i am so glad i went in knowing nothing, so that every twist and turn caught me completely unawares

and the top two i would recommend in this category are samurai flamenco (22 episodes) and sarazanmai (11 episodes)

definitely do look up trigger warnings if you've a need for them! but otherwise, going in knowing nothing really heightened the experience of these for me

they are... strange, and amazing

this is getting long so i'll just dump a bunch of favorites in a list below (some are Great, some are decidedly Not Great but Very Fun and beloved to me lol, and all are 25 episodes or less)

If you're referring to Wolfwood's age, then from what I hear it's similar as to in the manga yeah. I don't know his exact chronological age but I do understand it's 18+.

[TRISTAMP SPOILERS] Except Wolfwood was aged up from, like, twelve. The fact that so many people are a) shipping Tristamp Vashwood and b) without insane levels of discourse is nuts to me. It's probably there, somewhere, in some insane Discord server that I am not a member of. Disclaimer that I don't care what you do and don't ship, these are not real people and this is a fantasy problem, don't ask me to die on this hill. [/TRISTAMP SPOILERS]

But you see why Vashwood doesn't help the 'Vash is unshippable' allegations haha. Vash is just so deeply unfuckable to me for mostly botany reasons, but of course so much of that is just the vibe of Trigun itself.

This is more personal, but Trigun stood out against all other 90s anime on the Toonami block because it was a) utterly unapologetically fucking bizarre and confusing, and b) utterly sexless. All anime for women had big romantic plotlines and all anime for men had a lot of fan service. Even Cowboy Bebop, its next-door neighbor, had serious fanservice. Trigun was the only anime for adults I had ever seen that never sexualized its female characters, that had absolutely no romantic plotline, and that pretty much only cared about moral questions and how weird can this new gun get. Vash flirted all over the place, but it was so obviously a bit and just made the unfuckability allegations worse.

You spend the majority of the anime assuming that this is because Vash has a dead girlfriend he is not over, which is why he never once seriously romantically engages with a woman and never once physically engages at all. This feels very blatant. Halfway through you realize that the dead girlfriend is his Mom, which is the final nail in the coffin for me of sucking out anything remotely romantic from the series. Turned Vash downright unfuckable, because there's nothing less sexy than Vash's insane mother complex. It was just the most sexless anime I'd seen in my life.

It was nice. Incredibly rare in those days. It felt pretty comfortably for people like me: who loved action and who loved complex characters, and who enjoyed visiting a world where we're all more focused on Meryl's 50 derringers than her feelings for Vash.

That's not Tristamp, which had an incredibly different vibe in general, which is fine. It a) babygirl'd Vash and made him very attractive, which I'm chill with because it feels 100% congruent with how he hasn't refined his persona yet, and b) places Vash in the feminine narrative role of a love interest and object of desire. But considering who that dynamic is with and the nature of that dynamic, the level of eroticism and fuckability of Tristamp drops down to -1000 for me! So!!

And now the fandom seems to be like 90% Vashwood content! So!!!! TL;DR: I agree VERY MUCH and my experience of Trigun seemed to be extremely different from most people's haha.

Any thoughts on ace Vash? I know it's not a popular headcanon, but ever since that scene of him just faking falling asleep to get out of anything more with those ladies it's been on my mind.

SUPER interesting note about that scene: in the 98 anime, he says "could I be regretting it just a little?". In the manga, this is the scene:

It's very interestingly ambiguous, but the manga scene implies it's more typical Vash self-hatred! Regardless, the utter unfuckability of Vash remains.

I sincerely cannot imagine Vash being sexually interested in humans, and probably romantically too. There's that scene of him escaping sex, every time he flirts with women it's a complete bit, and the thing with Meryl always felt really one sided. Beyond that, we see utterly nothing from him indicating any interest in women or men.

I think Vash is an alien space hydrangea, of a species that's either extradimensional/inorganic/????, and it frankly makes no sense for him to be sexually attracted to people. I don't really even HC him as ace/aro, because that's an orientation and Vash is botany.

Unfortunately we've also seen Knives naked, so we canonically know that they are Ken dolls down there. There's no genitalia. There's no reason for him to be attracted to people or have an innate sense of human gender.

Hey, how the fuck did Rem even know they were boys? They were Ken dolls! She really did just spin a fucking wheel on that one! Even as children they were super androgynous! *i am an anime-only but i read spoilers so i have only approximate knowledge of whats going on manga-wise lol i havent read everything tho so my opinion is not as well-rounded as id like yet but i made an attempt with what i know thus far (which is enough tbh). i have spoiler warnings wherever i deem necessary but please tell me if i need to add something!! what i included from the mp100 fanbook doesnt contain any spoilers, most of them are related to what we've seen from season 3

Reigen seeing Serizawa for the first time is a moment ingrained in me because the very first thing that Seri did was protect him using his umbrella aka his only source of comfort and security???? while he went against the one person who he thought understood him??? i dont know if it was meant to be read as an exchange of sorts or as a metaphor or as foreshadowing or all three but it's so incredible..

(spoilers, probably? --->) i think in the manga at some point Serizawa got an umbrella and it was clear instead of white or any other color, so when he was using it he was visible and so many fans were saying that this is a metaphor for him not being afraid anymore and standing on his own two feet as a person :'( anyway this is sort of irrelevant but it's kinda related to Reigen too (i think the umbrella was a gift from him??) And the fact that in the anime he uses the cards Reigen gave him as a weapon opposed to the umbrella Touichirou gave him....... (<----end of spoilers)

the farting chair..... i cant like a pairing without them being absolutely ridiculous. Reigen doing whatever ridiculous thing he's doing and Serizawa being either "hm. sure." or "??????" is so funny to me. them going to the bar and getting drunk together and Reigen showing him a trick with Seri responding "i have a test tomorrow Reigen-san.." in contrast to what we've seen in the anime so far with Reigen being dramatic and actually impressing Serizawa is so good....... what do you mean this is more than one moment.......

this and the way they framed Reigen's wait-youve-never-liked-a-girl meltdown and then moments later showing him googling "how to ask girls out" must be an indicator for something (🤨🏳️‍🌈⁉)..... Also the way Reigen lets himself be a little vulnerable in front of Serizawa shows that he trusts him and that's weird since he is so guarded all the time while trying to show how great he is.. I like that he has someone he can share things with and maybe even be himself with

when i first saw this i was so sure there was something going on canonically that will slowly unravel. i have only seen bits and pieces of the manga but i still feel there is something here. its a small moment and then it changes scene back to mob. considering this being a little later from no3 it makes you wonder if its building up to something or not?? (the answer is its not but still. behind the scenes maybe?) Moreover Reigen's desire to be a good partner makes me??? I cannot explain correctly what this makes me feel because writing this made me both want to cry AND want to make that one meme with timmy's dad (since it couldn't make it into the anime)

i have A LOT of thoughts on how hair works, some i forgot to cover, in the world of riptide! for this, im gonna have to go character by character (it also will be following the idea in the post i referenced also by you lol, idk what the hell to call you so for now just fellow fan fiction? sure). as always spoilers ahead and ill try to keep my writings within the eps youve seen so far lol

addition thoughts for jay: i know she removes the pin when under cover because shes going in disguise but like. i have to talk about that. she wears it while sailing on the open seas. and she also carries her sisters badge. like shes so connected to the navy, yet she chose to be a pirate. at first it felt like the pin wasnt holding any hair out the way, but like in the more recent design she has, it holds back her bangs (which must be better for her vision and aim j bet), like she can put those ties behind her. shes still connected to them, but not as much as before. i also wanna bring up jays connections to failure! she probably is seen somewhat as a failure, by her family and by herself (also friends idfk). she failed to help ava. she failed to be a true pirate at first. she failed to stick to plan and keep being a spy. shes failed several times before, and im not even talking just in battle or to save or whatever! shes failed in inventions, talking to people, lying, you name it! yet, her hair is messy and down and long, and thats because she survived it. she survived the failures and its her way of winning. her wins outnumber her failures and she knows it, so she lets it down fully because shes more proud, and more free to fuck up things that arent shit.

thoughts with gill himself: gillions hair has never really changed. one may argue nobodys really has, but thats where your wrong! when in disguise, its only really later on that gillion does shit to his hair. YEAH TYING IT UP ISNT MUCH (jay) BUT LIKE. HE JUST DIDNT TOUCH THAT SHIT. including that disguise detail though, his disguises and shit are like very similar (we do not count jort storm here, he can go kiss chip again). villian, emo gillion, killion, all of them are very similar. hes also the only one to have used hair dye btw. yeah it was for emo gillion, and i think it wad like dripping out, but he still used it. would dying your hair be like showing some representing to how baytles were won or how they fell on it? interesting on how gillion chose black...OH ALSO THE CORALS WR GOTTA TALK ABOUT THEM! im thinking about how hats would mayter to hair in this jdea, and ik gills corals arent like a hat but like. its described like a crown. would some who didnt know treat it like hes some royal fuy? idk lol, just thinking. curious on why hed change his hair then...

thoughts with edyn: following the theory, edyns hair is very short. yeah, its absolutely from gillion, but he hadnt seen her for YEARS. hair grows after tike unless you cut it yourself. i wonder if edyn just kept cutting it everyday because she was so sorrowful over that failure.

thoughts with finn: the thing with fin is he has a pretty long beard. i bet you he may have been a damn god researcher, but he must have disappointed people when he left to go above. yet, he has such long hair, and its because he didnt regret it. and maybe gillion is confused by that, but we do have to note something: finn would know more undersea culture then gillion because gillion was sheltered badly by the elders. finn also knows more oversea wise because hes been there longer. yet, comparing the two, it looks like gillion has failed so many more times then the man who willingly left home and disobeyed their religious ideals.

thoughts with chip: chips new hair has a lot of similarites to people hes met. its wild and free like jays, he has a little braid like lizzie and/or ollie, its like how he changes with eceone he meets. this is also how hes choosing his hair to look, what with the undead thing now. SPEAKING OF THAT, THE BANDANA MUST BE SO INTERESTING FOR THIS! like, chip can make his hair any length with this, so its not off the list that he wouldnt make it longer or shorter. he can change how it looks, and with this it must mean it changes around meanings. if he chooses to have it shorter, its more meaningful because hes acknowledging that he fucked the hell up. theres also how like the hat is kinda big enough to hide some of his hair so its like hiding his failures and victories, hoorayyy!!!
