I was very prepared to read it as a topic one usually does read and read and read because we know how it is going to go. WHat took me by surprise was the sudden philosopy in the midst of the chapter. I am very proud of the healing arc for MC and how she LISTENS to what people tell her. Truth be told I’m more invested in Namjoon, Yena and Jimin and Tae but THAT IS JUST MY THING. These are my babies in this fic.

3) @venusiangguk - Recommeding “ idealizations concerning real life relations “ This fic...this fic just gutted me completely. Maybe because i relate both with the MC and Jungkook too in ways. I under the need to reomanticise the awful reality but I also realise where to cut it off, and thats by age, something I saw in JK.I reflected the pain both of them felt but man I can’t help but feel so bad for both of them by the ending. I wept after it was over and the tattoo part left me thinking of so many things.

thunderous - mmm, yeah at first i totally agreed, i think they suffer from too much good music syndrome, that all their other tracks are such fucking bops its hard to stay at that level of perfection. the choreo was beautiful tho and tbh, the track has grown on me since ive been watching all the vids abt it. its my brothers favourite track

domino - YES GODAMMIT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE TITLE TRACK. the raps, the vocals, the vibes, the fucking domino sound in the back? i would have streamed that shit on repeat. but tbh, as good as it is, it doesnt have that sort of grandness/oomph that skz seems to like in their title tracks so i can see why they chose thunderous (tho domino would have been so good) *sigh*

ssick - yeah same, not my fave track by a long mile, the crowd cheering was a ?strange? choice and the chorus was a bit bare/empty, plus like i mentioned earlier, it was kinda funny to me for some reason but ill still play it if im playing thru the whole album

the view - ahh one of those not like other girls (/j) i honestly think its just a good party song, just a bop to play in the background when nobodys rlly paying much attention. its pretty generic pop music but catchy

sorry, i love you - hehe yeah i thought it was going to be sadder as well, but i rlly loved the fact that they all just got to sing, which almost never happens, i dont think ive heard felix sing for a long time, so i enjoyed it. wasnt rlly a standout track but i just casually like it. looking forward to the fic haha

silent cry - this song i swear, some bits are rlly good and then others are just? why?? it does sound like a dance song tho idk. definitely not one of my faves either

secret secret - YES its so good! its such a chill song and i love their vocals in it. the combination of lo-fi/fake strings backup stuff and their heavenly vocals just makes it *chefs kiss* im listening to it rn and just... its so beautiful. it gives me pumped up another day vibes ya know? like my pace is edgy get cool, this one is energetic another day i feel like. overall i love it

STAR LOST - ah thats so cool! i didnt know that! on first listen this song had a similar vibe to secret secret but then the beat came in and ahh its such a good song. i can totally imagine them putting this song to a concert footage vid, this song is so sweet.

red lights - LMAO YES ITS SO AWKWARD WHY DOES IT GO ON FOR SO LONG ah thats good! yeah good point, its quite intense hehe. but that is my fave trope and this is lowkey my favourite track on the album so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just the combination of hyunjins and chans voices, the backing music, the lyrics ahh red lights my beloved

surfin’ - yes lmao its always a shock, i feel like they should have put gone away in between them, but its such a fun cute song, i cant get rlly mad. yeah, as an aussie i think im contractually obligated to like beaches lol. sand im not such a fan of, but my familys rlly into fishing and my brother loves bodyboarding so we stay at a beach house at least twice a year and we live like 5 mins from 3 different beaches (hehe all aussie cities are on the coast lol) so thats cool. do you like beaches?

gone away - ah gone away my beloved, i love this song sm, its just so pure and showcases their vocals and lyrics so well. yes the pitch change is very out of the blue, i feel liek they went directly from seungmins soft vocals to hans powerful ones which was an interesting choice, but hey, im not complaining

made by HUNEX.CO, the games about mc moving to a share house with a bunch of hot dudes. The DreamTM. no voice acting but the characters are bearable. ive played the meganes route because thats who i am as a person and mr moustache man. latters route was okay. the story does have smutty elements so that surprised me tbh hahahha. its okay imo and u can be f2p to finish each route :) 4/10

My Horse Prince

can you BELIEVE this game got better ranks than the previous two??? its about mc wooing a horse. with a mans head. horses body. i cannot simplify this enough. the reason it beating the 2 games before is because it made me lose my shit SO MUCH i remembered tears coming out of my eyes coz this game is a fcking ride. mc has 1 braincell and its for the sexy horse man. f2p and im thankful for that. no voice acting and honestly im glad it doesnt. 5/10

Hatoful Boyfriend

a classic game. no voice acting. there ARE gijinkas and drama cds however outside of the main game. in the main game u get to date pigeons. actual pigeons. i believe this game was unironically enjoyable like 10-15 years ago. dont be fooled by the pigeons. some of their routes can be EMOTIONALLY NASTY. i cried at one of the pigeons. i lost sleep but its what i deserve. 5/10

my first ever dating sim game!! hence the 3ds picture. full voice acting. it was p enjoyable and while i know the steam version covers most of what the 3ds lacks, i love playing the routes and this was the first game tht traumatized me at the sight of a bad end. sadly not a fan of the canon route despite me loving stoic emotionally guarded characters. i do enjoy the other routes and okita souji has my heart and soul i love and hate him. 6/10

another game by HUNEX.CO. compared to the share house game, i ADORE this one. its surprisingly a sweet mobile otome game! f2p friendly! no voice acting, but they make it up with the story and characters. basically u got tsundere wolf. baby invisible man. yandere mummy. bastard but then gets soft to you vampire. guess who i love in the end. also sidenote the reason this gets higher ranks is the vampires routes alone (they have dating route AND lovers route all in one game) and also the invisible mans route broke me as a person. i hate it. so much. oh my god. 7/10

Amnesia

my second otomate/aksys game! when i found it its sold in google store i legit bought it and left my assignments to play flksdnfjdbf. full voice acting. VERY interesting stories. v intense stories too so its not fun playing at night lol sometimes. all the characters are loveable to each players ref. some of the routes do irk me which sucks coz i have to finish all in order to unlock the canon route. i DO love the canon character so its fine. this game is the game that introduced me to fear in a form of a toma. 8/10

HONESTLY A GAME WHERE I LIKE ALL THE CHARACTERS LMAOOO!! all the routes are great and the full voice acting has me scream. a lot. also they have A LOT of post stories that are released internationally so it makes me love the characters (saint-germain) even more. i believe this is the game that actually made me love the yandere. so i gotta give kudos to that. the canon route is really lovable! the stories can be a mix of cute and angst so its a wild ride when i played it ;w;b 9/10

Ikemen Sengoku

honestly one of my fav and long-running mobile otome game!! the game is f2p but you need to be veeery patient to finish one route (in my case i sometimes am patient. other times im not). partially voiced. the best thing about this game is THERE IS A LOT OF CHOICES LMAOO n youre not obligated to do a route of a character youre not too keen. the characters are both lovable and stupid. the mc has 1 braincell and shes using it to helps these hot morons. sugitan is there. bfkdjbfdkj also the stories are smutty and its so goood i remembered screaming a lot. their stories range from funny to sad to angsty to romantic its a roller coaster ride. 9/10

Collar x Malice

i LOVE all the characters. i LOVE all the routes. i even love the villain of this series. which is why it gets number 2 in my book. the stories can get intense but when the cute romantic funny parts hit it hits you off guard and it just makes u laugh or scream or cry or all in 1. im a big kaji yuki fan so to finally get to play a game where kaji yukis character is in it just earns this game a top spot in my heart. a very special spot too considering his character is my fav character and route hehehhe! its sequel is coming out (n im getting it tmrrw eyy). love it so much! and the canon character is easily my 2nd fav character too! 10/10

this game easily ruined my sleep schedule. at one point my body automatically woke up at 3 am at the single sound of a beep EVERY TIME. just to text some fictional characters. i even got out of class once to respond to jumins call. i hate this game. the games gameplay is so unique and fun and all the characters are very VERY lovable. i love all the characters and their routes. while the voice acting happens during certain cgs (full voice in all scenes in vs and saerans routes) it redeems itself with the amazing voice calls. i laughed A LOT whole playing this game. its absolutely amazing. did you know that i bawled in saerans route? bawled? as in cried in absolute anguish and sobbed nonstop? and stared at the blank screen????????? once in front of my own mother and again alone in the darkness of my own room? my heart was shattered in pieces and it literally felt as if the love of my life is gone for good. 11/10

I figured it was only a matter of time before the “you are not a real fan because you like what I dislike so its bad!!!” crowd found this post. Its everyday business at this point, so lets just get into it. 

Starting from the first one, a timeless classic: 

“Jon Kent tells Clark to never use his powers to save people”

Unsurprisingly, this never happens. 

“What was I supposed to do, just let them die?”

“... Maybe... (and hold on to your butts for the part where people like you conveniently turned their brains off) Theres more at stake than just our lives Clark, or the lives of those around us. When the world finds out what you can do its gonna change everything, our beliefs, our notions of what it means to be human, everything.”

At no point is Pa teaching Clark to not save people. Above everything else he wants Clark to have time to find himself and determine the kind of man he wants to be, and he cannot do that if he exposes himself to the world too early. His point was that, while kids drowning would be absolutely terrible, it wouldnt change the world (or Clark himself) the same way discovering a godlike alien being among us would. He doesnt want his son to be taken away from him or rejected by the entire planet, but he also doesnt want kids to die, therefore he says what us humans traditionally say when we arent certain of what to say: “Maybe”, as in “I dont know the right answer” (and not “yes muhahaha let them die Clark” or whatever the fuck some people took it as). His own body language and tone indicate he didnt buy his own words, all he knew was that Clark needed (and deserved) a semi-normal childhood, with the proper time to understand who he was and why was he sent here. Not a kid tasked with saving others. 

Even the hypothetical “should I have saved them” is completely irrelevant because CLARK SAVED THEM ANYWAY. Even if it costs him personal peril, discovery, rejection and misinterpretation, Clark does not care and will always save others. This has remained consistent from the start of MoS and all the way to BvS, but we’ll go back to that.

“Superman’s colors are muted of all color because they thought bright colors are childish”

Would you look at that, Superman’s character has had various shades of blue and red in his 80+ years history. Each and every artist choosing the ones he deemed the most fit for what he visualized for the character. Is it possible that Zack Snyder simply did.. that exact same thing too, and went for the shades of blue red and yellow that he thought fit better the story he wanted to tell? Or that he had in mind a character arc that involved Superman’s suit getting brighter and brighter the closer he gets to being the “traditional” Superman?

Nah, hes just an edgy hack that hates sunshine and happiness and drinks baby tears for breakfast as he revels in stripping Superman of all his colors, because obviously every single time Superman has darker colors that must mean the artist hates bright ones. This mentality is one of the most idiotic ones in the history of fandoms. “W-well they’re doing X instead of Y, therefore they MUST HATE Y!!!!” No. When Sam Raimi decided to give Spider-Man organic webs it wasnt because "hE hAtEs WeBsHoOterS!!" but because that was the choice that better fit the story he wanted to tell. This fan extremism is seemingly based on a almost Yandere obsession such as "You CANNOT love x as much as I do, TRAITOR!! If you do things EXACTLY how I want them, then you MUST HATE THEM!!".

“Superman is supposed to be a symbol of hope yet he murders Zod by snapping his neck because thats the only way to save the (nuked..?) city"

Hope, by his literal definition, is a desire for something combined with an expectation of it happening.  That’s literally it. When you hope for something, you believe (rightly or wrongly) that the probability of it happening, though less than one, is greater than zero. When the character of Superman started becoming “a symbol of hope” it wasn’t because of how much he smiled, how bright his suit was or how much he manages to solve all problems with zero repercussions or dilemmas. But because no matter what the odds are, no matter what goes against him, he will help. He will be there when humanity needs him. 

Thats the hope Superman represents.

An enormous mistake that a lot of “fans” make is the absolute refusal to draw the line between killing and murder. While both indicate the act of ending a life, the latter is defined by doing so not out of protection for oneself or others. If I kill an animal thats about to crush me, or a man that’s shooting at random people, neither of those are murder. HOWEVER, killing animals for sport and killing a man that’s already beaten and arrested absolutely count as murder. Zod was about to burn a family to ashes, and that was after he swore to make every single human suffer as an act of revenge. There’s no way to contain or restrain him, and Superman is the only one that stands between Zod and his adopted planet. What if Superman manages to save that family? Do you seriously think Zod wont try again? Even if he fails, he’ll fly to the next humans he’ll encounter. And the next, and the next, and the next, putting more and more people in danger, and no version of Clark that I like would just be okay with it. Killing Zod is not murdering someone, it’s saving the planet. It’s helping people. Its reaffirming that he will do ANYTHING to protect the Earth and be there for it, no matter the odds. Its narratively not different from Superman destroying the World Engine despite knowing full well that it could weaken if not outright kill him.

"Passive and apathetic as people die around him, constant bored expression as he saves people, Worship him as a godlike figure"

Ah yes, the other timeless classic.

Lets refresh what "apathetic" actually mean, shall we? 

Superman in MoS or BvS was never apathetic. MoS states that Clark can't stop helping people, which is why he has to keep changing jobs and burning identities. The source of Superman's internal conflict in BvS is about how he wants to help people but in the modern world that isn't black and white, as every action has a reaction. He's trying to find a way to help the most people. If Superman was apathetic towards humanity, he wouldn't give a shit about what was happening. If he didn’t care, he wouldn’t let events like the death of his father, his killing of Zod or the Capitol explosion affect him in the way they do. His perceived "broodiness" (which literally means nothing but worry about something) doesnt come from not caring, but from how much he cares.

Every protest, every act of violence, every action against his loved ones but also every tragedy that he fails to prevent, they hit him right in the heart. We see that throughout the movie and we should empathize with him, even though he keeps most of it internal rather than talking about it at length. He is wondering if his attempts to help this world are actually for the ultimate good, because people are telling him to stop and there always seem to be unintended consequences.

Lets describe what (again) ACTUALLY happens in the scene you picked as an example. Look at Superman’s body language and reaction to his saving of the girl from the fire. He floats down from the burning building holding the girl gently and he has a slight smile on his face as he walks across to what seems to be her mother and possibly other family members. Things are going the way Superman wanted. He was happy to be there to save the girl and return her safely to her family. 

But just as soon as Superman hands off the girl, he is swarmed by an adoring crowd and we see on Superman’s face that he is not thrilled about being the center of this attention. He just wanted to save the girl, basically being a guy who’s trying to do the right thing. But the people around are turning him into a figure of worship. These people  are, of course, happy that Superman came, but this type of response is still negative to Superman because he doesn’t want the hero worship or the idolatry. He doesnt want to be seen as a "superior kind" that should be revered, he wants to be a friend that just wants to help, but people wont allow him to be that: hes either a god to be worshipped or a demon to be destroyed. His sacrifice at the end makes people realize that he wasnt either of those things, its the PEOPLE that were wrong.

The entire criticism that hes "bored" or sees being a hero as some kind of chore doesn't make any sense, if he didn't want to help people why would he do it? Why wouldn't he just stay on his farm in Kansas?  MOS clearly shows that Clark has always had an altruistic streak and always does his best to do what he thinks it’s right. He’s not begrudging about saving people, the montage of him saving lives was not meant to be a in depth scene of him interacting with civilians and there’s very little room for him to be smiling and comforting civilians when hes dragging a wrecked ship or saving a shuttle from an explosion. In BvS, one of the factor's that contributes to Superman's conflict with Batman is the death of a human trafficker whom Superman thought Batman had marked for death. The deceased was one of thee worst of humanity, the kind of person that many in the real world would have dismissed as worthy of death. But Superman saw the wife and child he left behind and thought that his death was a great injustice. Superman even saves Lex Luthor from Doomday's fist, the man who nearly killed the woman he loved and the woman he thought of as a mother and who is responsible for so much of Superman's pain in BvS. Yet he saves him. He doesn't doubt the worth of saving people. He doubts that he is able to change how the world works. 

No wonder Justice League turned out the way it did, WB started listening to people that think anything you said even remotely counts as good and criticism of these versions of the characters. Everyone is entitled to their preferences of course, but honestly, the DCEU deserves a vastly better class of critic. And its currently an extremely easy standard to surpass, just start by commenting on what actually happens in these movies, that'd be a nice change.

There’s something both sad and hilarious about BvS/MoS haters talking about their ideal Superman movie… only to indirectly describe BvS/MoS.
