You can only get the Dead End in Day 4 by staying at Ren's apartment — the rest of your choices before that don't matter. I'd also pay closer attention to the black smoke and Ren's reaction towards it!

Ren disappears from the home screen because he promised to help the player out (and stop them from getting the Dead End again). Try replaying the game again from the beginning for a surprise!

"Unsent Memories" was another visual novel (initially being written by @10chimes / @unsentmemory, though the project has since been dropped and handed back to me /pos) and is set in the same universe as 14 Days With You. Its storyline and characters are completely separate from 14DWY, so you don't have to worry about them while playing 14DWY.

But I love their dynamic, they're gay in their own special platonic way and I hope they never change<3 my stupid bickering hedgehogs who hate* each other

My "vision" for their dynamic is pretty close to canon I think? But I have fun<3 Sonic loves annoying Shadow, they're super competitive, have a level of respect for each other, usually play for the same team even if they aren't directly working together(though they can if the situation calls for it), and a "civil" conversation between them rarely ever ends without a race, fight, or at least some bickering- it's nourishment for them<3 They're equals on most fronts, but have contrasting personalities that make for really fun interactions and an amazing dynamic that never fails to be entertaining. I love the contrast with Shadow being created to be the ultimate lifeform, then meeting Sonic, who is just naturally his perfect equal- no experiments, no lab, no alien DNA, he's really just a guy who loves adventure and living fast and free as the wind. Also their shared bond with the chaos emeralds, being two of three people we know of that can use them to go super, chaos control, etc etc. and Shadow using chaos control, unintentionally teaching Sonic about it and inadvertently saving his life, is honestly something we should talk about more. It's cool<3

Idk, they're really interesting to think about. I think Sonic breaks into Team Dark's apartment sometimes and he and Shadow watch pirated movies on Shadow's laptop. And by "breaks in" I mean the window was open. Shadow vehemently denies that it was some sort of invitation, and in his defense, it wasn't at first

lune was a little shit, he's very rebellious now but he was even more rebellious when he was a teenager lmfao

he would CONSTANTLY get into fights, anyone that pissed him off he did not hesitate to attack

his relationship with his parents was already bad but it quickly deteriorated at this point in time

he was relatively popular in school but uh, everyone stayed away from him or tried to be on his good side because... well yk! didn't wanna get attacked..?

he didn't talk to you for a few days after you cut his hair for the first time, wasn't your fault... you accidentally cut off one of the front strands and had to cut the other off to make it even

fun fact about him, his eyes glow in the dark, it can be scary at times.

oh and his ears are expressive, dunno how that works but it does! and he also never goes a day without wearing earrings! he prefers the ones he came with but doesn't mind wearing whatever as long as he has earrings haha

CECILIA -> LUNE: dawg you’re like two minutes older than me (won’t deny the best buddies comment) he’s a really good brother though… but tough to deal with, he’s always causing some sort of trouble, but uh, well. anyway, we’re basically best friends… his words, not mine (she’s lying) he’s crazy but he’s not a bad person..? <- would defend him with her life. he’s an interesting fella that’s for sure, i’ve known him my whole life but there’s always something new with him lmfao. sometimes he comes into my room to knock something over and then he leaves, what an odd guy.

LUNE -> NOX: cocky asshole. so annoying. go to hell already. and stay away from my sister, i don't want you plaguing her with your presence.

CECILIA -> NOX: he’s pretty sweet (??????) we’re really great friends! i didn't think we would become such good friends tbh, he didn't seem to be the social type, and i'm not very social either haha... we're pretty similar i think! i can't remember who approached who first but that's fine. also, this guy has one of the worst damn sleep schedules known to man, i worry for that man. also, him and lune hate each other, no idea why.

NOX -> CECILIA: she's a close friend, i don't usually like making friends cause they end up thinking i'm weird, i don't really care about that but... i'll admit, it's nice to have a friend. she acts really differently in front of other people than she does with me, i don't think she's realized though? it's like having a cat open up to you haha, so i won't say anything. i hate her brother though, pretentious dickhead.

CASSIAN -> CECILIA: we were kids when i met her and her brother? she’s nice… and a lot like me… we still talk, she’s a good friend, thanks for keeping me company… and thanks for not asking me too many questions either

CECILIA -> CASSIAN: oh! cass is a childhood friend! we met at some event, he’s changed a lot since then, but i guess we’re more alike now? he doesn’t come out of his house much anymore, but we still text often. sometimes i see him online really late... bro... please get some sleep.... anyway, i never got to know what happened with him, and he doesn't like talking about it either, i won't pry though, because i understand.

CASSIAN -> LUNE: he’s scary, but i guess he’s not that bad..? i talk to him too, we’re not the closest, but he’s still a friend, i text him sometimes, he’s crazier than before, he was fun to hang out with when we were young, not that i don't like him anymore, he's definitely... special

And OHHH just like Loads and Loads of Concern, probably.

Picture Gwen, having teamed up with Peter B and Noir and Ham to convince Miguel to recruit another member of their old gang because "Peni's literally a genius. She's Perfect for the job." Gwen hops through a portal into a dimly lit lab littered with mechanical parts and equipment that's been thrown around. There's no music, just the sound of a blowtorch sparking on and off and the clinking of metal.

She finds Peni in a stained jumpsuit, her back to her as she hunches over part of a New SP//dr suit that is Menacing in a way the old one never was. Gwen watches as Peni puts down the blowtorch and lifts up her welding mask. Peni sighs and says in a hoarse whisper, "Okay, let's see if this works."

And Spider crawls from his perch in Peni's collar and into its new cradle inside the mech. SP//dr's eyes light up Yellow, no friendly HUD with silly expressions to be seen. Piloted in the moment solely by Spider, the mech stands, towering over her like a protector. At the seeming success, Peni makes no exuberant cheer. She just looks into SP//dr's eyes and then down at the scattered blueprints written in her late father's penmanship.

A whispered, "Thank you, Father." passes her lips.

And then Gwen finally, tentatively, reveals herself. She compliments the suit. Asks Peni how she's been. Starts telling her about the Spider Society.

Peni listens silently with wide eyes for a few moments. She interrupts Gwen with a tight hug that gets even tighter when Spider uses the mechs arms to lift them Both up and spin them.

Gwen finishes explaining, gives Peni a watch, and Peni gets a heartfelt reunion with the Gang (with a notable exception). And they all can immediately tell something's Wrong and oh no Kid what Happened??

The story comes out slowly. A new coworker turned friend. A potential partner turned rogue during their first mission together. A loss of an aunt, who'd been getting better at being a parent, and of her friend, who she'd begun to see as a Best Friend. SP//dr wrecked once again at the end of it all, and a miracle blueprint found in her late father's belongings.

And the Gang looks at Peni and remembers standing like this with Miles all those months ago. They Know they can't save everyone, but it'll always Hurt and it's definitely Not Fair for any of them, especially Peni who looks small and tired but still rebuilt SP//dr and is Still Going. At least they can be there for her now.

She's definitely happier to be with her friends, and she makes New Ones, too!

Then she's back down the spiral when she learns about Canon Events, about what happened to Miguel, about Miles' status as an Anomaly. A gloom that falls over her and obsesses over Fixing It.

The Gang can't do much other than be there, make sure she eats, talk to her even when she's not entirely listening. Offer hugs when it all gets to feeling like Too Much. And then just trust that she'll get it eventually. She'll understand why it has to be this way. (It doesn't.)
