So the Joker finds the alternate universe Damian so JJ just- kills him right?? And then Damians bats come to get him and all that but WJAT IF instead of them going back to their dimension JJ sees these other people he vaguley recognizes and decides "fuck it. Im keeping them ALL."

So he does. And it doesnt matter that most of these guys are older than him, he treats them almost exactly like he does with Damian. (Except for bruce. Junior doesnt know what to do with bruce) JJ doesnt give two shits

And like- all the bats are weirded out because what????? Who is this mini joker??? And then they find out its a version of TIM. So they just...kidnap him back. Its bonus points because they dint have a Tim (anymore [i decided that because angst and yes. {id imagine their tim died from the widdower on Brucequest or smth along those lines but the evidence he collected still got sent back? Who knows. Deff not me}])

So its like a win-win for everyone involved!!! Tim JJ gets the bats back (even if he doent really recognize them) and the bats get a Tim back!!

TW: Major character death, dead body description, toxic obsessions

We'll refer to one Tim as Alt!Tim and the other as JJ!Tim (or JJ) for simplicity sake.

Alt!Tim was never caught by Dick when Ra's kicked him out of a window. Dick was right there, mere centimeters away, but Tim slipped right through his fingers.

Dick was forced to watch as another one of his family members fell to his death.

It's not the sound of bones impacting cement that haunts him so, nor the sight of his baby brother hitting the ground from over 80 stories tall.

No. It's the look of contentment, the small reassuring smile, the instant forgiveness, and the relief that poured from Tim's body when he noticed Dick was trying but would fail to catch him.

Tim dying at this time, when he still hasn't repaired any of his relationships with his family, absolutely obliterates the remaining Bats. They either feel guilt for how they treated him, for not being there for him, or for what he sacrificed for them.

[Whether or not Ra's scraped his body off of the ground and lugs his corpse to a Pit only to brainwash and hide him from the Bats is a separate storyline. In this case, Tim, who finally manages to escape, realizes that his Bats (and Tim is mentally not well. He's kind of obsessive post-Pit) are gone. Alt!Tim goes to track them down only to find them chumming it up with another version of him :) ]

JJ is also obsessive with the Bats. These newcomers are all his younger siblings (minus Bruce), and he will not let them go. The Bats, who miss Tim/feel guilty and desperately want him back, are also super obsessed with Tim. It kinds of works out for them.

Okay I know everyone is freaking out and I don’t want to add fuel to the fire or anything but this is not red or pink or blue, it’s purple. More magenta but purple nonetheless. I am going to repeat one more time, nobody freak out, this is only speculation and the fact this leak was so out in the open seems like a red herring so take my thoughts with a grain of salt.

Eleven likes purple. Purple is Eleven’s color. Now, I see four possibilities for this:

Eleven did, in fact, die and while in mourning or with her on his mind, Mike is wearing her color, purple. Doesn’t necessarily mean Mileven canon, but maybe Mike feels guilty that he wasn’t truly in love with her due to his love for Will if Byler canon. Maybe the scene with Hopper is him learning to accept it wasn’t his fault and he’s okay to move on with his life and be with Will. This would be a believable ending for Byler. They finally get together after this talk and Mike lets go of the guilt and trauma from feeling like whatever happened to Eleven was due to his dishonesty. He is free and he loves Will and he can’t waste the rest of his life feeling sorry about this. He has to love the boy he loves instead of pushing him away. Avoiding your love for someone hurts those around you and he just has to love.

Mileven endgame. There has been a rumor that she likely survived Season 5. I am unsure how true this is, but from a narrative standpoint, Eleven should not be forced to die for the plot. It would be so so unfair for her to die before she got to explore who she is and what she wants for her life. I would hate that for her, but even so with Mileven canon I see two other possibilities:

We unfortunately receive a comphet storyline, which would make sense for the era, but would be so heart-wrenchingly tragic. Mike looks very down in the pictures they’ve taken. He looks unhappy and he has admitted defeat to heteronormativity and conformity. Now, I want you to walk with me through this thought and line of thinking and I promise I have a point. Today I showed my boyfriend the “I know what Mike said to Eleven” joke video. His first response was Karen does not have a girlfriend. He then jokingly added that if Ted had a boyfriend it’d be way funnier and we’d like him more. However, as I’m typing this at nearly 2 AM, Ted is character who has been around since the beginning of the series and has had no real significance, so what is his purpose? What if Ted’s character is a comphet story? Nancy states in Season 1 that Karen and Ted ended up conforming by merely marrying to create their nuclear family. Ted seems to show zero interest in his wife sexually or in any way at all in any of the seasons. He also is the one who makes homophobic allusions and remarks in Season 1 & 2. Now, I know that homophobia doesn’t mean that a character is internalizing it and they are gay, but what I am saying is that Mike “looks” (Tyler, the Creator reference) like Ted. There has been a recurring theme of breaking the cycle especially when it comes to fathers or father figures. Mike is gay, but what if he continues the cycle? What if Mike is the one character that doesn’t break the cycle? He becomes a repeat of his father, unhappy with his marriage, but he does it to conform like Ted. This is a norm in the 80s, unfortunate but true. The scene with Hopper is him telling Mike he has his blessing and he knows Mike is a good kid and will take care of Eleven. We see Will end up happily married to another man and Mike is torn about what could have been. A tragic ending, but believable.

Mileven is just endgame. They survive Season 5 and without supernatural crap they are able to actually grow as a couple. Mike is wearing purple and somewhere Eleven is wearing blue. Byler doesn’t happen, who knows where that leaves Will?

The third possibility I see is a continuation of the first possibility of Mileven endgame except it’s not endgame. Instead, let’s take this idea and drag it a little further. Through the lens of Byler, this would be a nightmare for Mike. His greatest fear is being unable to confess to Will he loves him, being unable to live the life he actually wants. His fear is becoming his comphet father. I believe this could be an illusion of Vecna’s doing. Vecna taunts Mike with what will be if he isn’t truthful. He becomes Ted and that horrifies him. Maybe both Will and Mike are in this Vecna nightmare and the only way they make it out alive is through admitting their feelings for one another and not conforming to societal norms. This would make sense to me as the epilogue being a time jump to graduation just feels wrong. This has to be an illusion.

My final theory? It’s just a purple shirt.

Do you know of any good booster gold reading lists for a beginner to his comics? You're converting me

I've made a few videos about with reading lists for him on tiktok they're in my comic recommendations playlist but also like I fully understand not wanting to open that app

there's this thread on twitter that gives specific issues so you don't have to read decades of comics this is a good way to get an idea of the character quickly. It's a fast way of reading but I find the skipping between books tedious and not as much fun

there's also this very helpful very exhaustive spreadsheet of every appearance of Ted and Booster! Very helpful, but you don't have to read everything for sure

And then I'm going to put my own personal reading list under the cut and it's a lot so remember you don't have to read everything and there's no shame in skipping around!

Must reads

Booster Gold 1986— This is the first appearance of Booster Gold, obviously you've gotta read it. It's only 25 issues and is legitimately such a fun and interesting read. The way information about him is slowly revealed is good I wish I could have been there when these were releasing

Justice League International/America— some people read this as they read Booster Gold (refer to the twitter thread I linked if you want to do that) I didn't and I wasn't confused when reading it. I kinda like reading it all without switching to the other book. This is a huge stretch of comics and I'm not saying you should read it all... but I'm also saying it's a very good era of comics and I enjoyed it a lot. If you only want Booster related issue refer to the spreadsheet.

Countdown to Infinite Crisis— woah big skip in time! Let's just say after JLA ends Booster and the team have a... controversial stretch of appearances. Countdown is just one big long single issue and it's beautiful, gotta read it.

The OMAC Project— this is the fallout of countdown and I really enjoy Booster being angry and it helps set up Infinite Crisis which I guess you should also read but I'm really take it or leave it with that event.

52 weeks— (not to be confused with new 52 I made that mistake) This book works surprising well for having four authors and so many characters to juggle. Booster is a huge player in this event and it's very enjoyable to read as a fan of him. This event also leads directly to his second solo

Booster Gold 2007—this shit fucks so hard!! I love Booster as "the greatest hero you've never heard of" he has so much character growth, fun stories, and an amazing supporting cast! The numbers can be weird if you're read it on a certain pirating website so start with 1 through 6 then go to 0 back to 7 through 10 then issue one million then back to 11

Justice League Generation Lost—this is basically the new JLI but with Jaime Reyes as the Blue Beetle because Ted is gone. It's a very fun dynamic with this new old team and it works so so well especially Booster and Jaime's friendship. This one I do recommend reading with the Booster Gold solo so after issue 32 of Booster Gold, start Generation Lost and basically switch back and further every issue

Please Read Them For Me

Extreme Justice— this is an aggressively 90s run and is largely ignored by the comic community and canon BUT I SWEAR IT'S GOOD! Booster is essentially in an iron lung and he is not handling it well. Booster got flattened by JLI quite a bit and I really do think this run added some depth back to him

Time Masters 1990—Booster is barely in this, but trust me Rip Hunter is important and it's a very fun and interesting time travel adventure with a really cool group of characters

Time Masters: Vanishing Point—No connection to Time Masters 90 except that Rip is here. But Booster has a lot of really good moments in this. Ignore the Batman bits this is truly just a story about Rip and Booster

Origin Story revisited

(Both BG 86 and BG 07 establish and revisit the origin story so you'll get to them as you're reading)

Secret Origins 1986 #35—honestly a pretty standard origin story but I really like how this story highlights Booster's relationship to his mom and sister

Justice League Quarterly #10—I hope you're reading the quarterly and annual issues when reading JLI because they are some of the best stories but this one in particular is just beautiful

Action Comics 2016 #993-998 (Booster Shot)— Really this is more of a funny action packed and surprisingly heartfelt team-up time travel adventure with Superman and Booster, but this does provide additional context to Booster's origin story and I like it a lot. This story is really really so good

Just Plain Fun

Martian Manhunter #24— Booster and Ted steal all of J'onn's. oreos. this is an incredibly iconic issue, it's hilarious and just the kinda hijinks you want from the boys

Blue and Gold— I personally think this run is deeply out of character and a little too "lol memes" for me, but it does have some good like Trixie coming back and seeing Ted and Booster together again

Blue Beetle 2023—issue 7 is the main Booster story but he has other appearances in this run read the whole thing it's short and so good actually just read every blue beetle solo. It's a really visually beautiful time travel story and I love Booster and Jaime being friends even now that Ted is back

Batman Brave and the Bold #13-15— it's a fun time shenanigans story with the Jurassic Justice League what's not to love

DC's 'Twas the 'Mite Before Christmas— a cute christmas story with Booster and Rip and what I cling to in hopes that Rip will return to DC comics soone

Harley Quinn 2016 #70-74— this is a controversial take but I like Booster and Harley together, as a temporary couple at least and definitely as friends and partners in being silly. This story gives Booster an unexpected amount of emotional intelligence and it's nice

Stevie probably should have shut this all down weeks ago.

The kids have been calling her mom since before she even came out to them, so she’s admittedly kind of given up on stopping that one. The problem is now they’ve gotten Eddie in on it.

Well, Eddie’s not calling her mom. If he started doing that, she thinks she’d no longer be fit for public. She’d have to crawl in a hole and never come out, like how old cats sometimes wander away to die alone, except she’d be dying not of old age but of the mortification of an unrequited crush. So luckily, that isn’t happening.

But now, as she arrives at the Wheelers’ house to pick up the kids after a D&D session, she’s forced to confront the fact that Eddie calling her mom is not apparently the worst thing that could come of this whole thing.

It starts when she’s getting on Dustin’s case about leaving his shit all over the basement. These kids treat every space they’re in like they own it, but Stevie is very aware how hard Karen had to work to convince Ted to let Eddie host Hellfire here, and she’s not about to let that hard work go to waste just because the kids left the basement a bomb site.

Dustin rolls his eyes at her nagging, lets out a long-suffering sigh and a “Yes, mom,” and Stevie has barely finished giving him an obligatory sisterly noogie before things get out of hand.

“If Stevie’s our mom, does that make Eddie our dad?” Lucas says, casually, completely unaware that putting ‘Eddie’ and ‘dad’ in the same sentence has just completely broken Stevie’s brain.

Eddie, though. Eddie smells blood in the water. He’s got that look on his face, that one Stevie usually loves, the one he always gets right before he commits to a bit with overdramatic vigour.

Sure enough, Eddie immediately prostrates himself over the couch, hand to his forehead, looking the picture of a lovelorn idiot. “Stevie,” he says, sounding genuinely heartbroken. “It’s just been so hard, raising our kids alone since the divorce.”

Stevie scoffs. “You’re raising our kids? You get them for a few hours once a week, pretty sure I’m the one shuttling their ungrateful asses to and from school every day.”

“Ungrateful?” Dustin splutters, as if he doesn’t show up at Stevie’s door at entirely random times of the day and demands she drive him to whatever nerd shit he’s got going on next.

“You’re right, that’s unfair,” she says, and then before anyone can get a word in: “You’re lovely, Will, always so polite. But the rest of you little shits. Ungrateful.”

Will smiles serenely as his friends immediately erupt into complaints, and Eddie ignores them all to prostrate himself at Stevie’s feet.

“I know I haven’t been around often, but baby, won’t you give me another chance?”

Stevie thinks she’d probably give Eddie anything he asked for, as long as he’s asking on his knees before her. It’s definitely a good look for him, and it’s only the clamour of the kids around her that keeps her face from going bright red.

She’s gotta play it cool here. Roll with the ridiculousness, always the best way to deal with Eddie, to keep him grinning at her like that, his whole face lit up like sunshine.

“Well…” she says, pretending to think it over, like she wouldn’t marry him in a heartbeat if he asked for real. That would be a bit much, given they’ve only known each other for a year and some change. “I suppose… although I’m not seeing a ring.”

Eddie grins like she’s fallen into some trap, and immediately slides the ring off his right hand- her favourite one with the big round stone in the middle that she likes to play with sometimes when they’re smoking together- and holds it up to her, a challenge in his eyes. Well. Only way out is through. She holds out her hand for him, the left one, and he slides the ring gently onto her ring finger. It fits perfectly.

“There you go,” he says, softly. His eyes are so warm, like pools of melted chocolate, and Stevie feels like she might drown in them. Her whole world has narrowed to the man on his knees before her- she’s distantly aware of the kids around them losing their minds (she’s pretty sure Mike is gagging, but that’s so far from her mind right now it might as well be happening on a different planet).

Eddie smiles up at her. “There’s my wife.”

“Your wife,” she whispers, unbearably fond. Stevie wants to hear him call her that for the rest of her life.

This really isn’t helping with her crush.

Sound filters in slowly, the world around them coming back in with the hushed whispers of the kids. Honestly, they’re quieter than she thought they’d be after this display, although the way Mike is rubbing his ribs suggests that this peace was hard won. They round the kids up pretty easily after that, with surprisingly little complaining as Stevie harangues them into cleaning up their shit. Eddie helps, occasionally glancing up at Stevie and looking quickly away with a fierce blush.

Later, after Stevie’s dropped off most of the kids and it’s only her and Will left in the car, riding home in silence as Stevie fiddles with the ring still on her finger, she tries not to read too much into everything that just happened. Will isn’t helping.

“So,” he says, in that sly, quiet way of his. “How long have you and Eddie been together?”

Stevie splutters. “That’s not- we’re not together. That was just- you know how Eddie is, he’s… theatrical.”

Will hums noncommittally. “He is. I don’t think that’s what that was, though. You like him, right?”

If this was any of the kids other than Will, Stevie thinks she’d deny it. God knows Dustin couldn’t be trusted with that information. But Will, quiet, sensitive Will- she thinks he’d get it.

“Yeah,” she says softly. “I really do. But it’s not- he doesn’t like me like that.”

She pulls up to the Byers’ house and parks the car in the drive. They both sit for a moment, basking in the silence. After a moment, Will suddenly leans over the gearshift, wrapping Stevie up in a weird, slightly uncomfortable hug. It feels nice.

“For what it’s worth,” he says as he pulls back and opens his door, “he looked really happy when he called you his wife. Even Eddie’s not that good of an actor.”

With that, he gently closes the car door behind him. Stevie watches as he runs up to his front door, and waves when Joyce comes out to greet him.

She drives most of the way home on autopilot, fiddling with the ring on her finger and thinking of Eddie’s face as he’d placed it on her hand. His gentle smile, his warm, chocolate eyes, full of something like love. His fingers had been rough with callouses as they’d brushed against hers, but still soft in a way that had nothing to do with his skin.

Maybe, she thinks, as she enters her quiet mausoleum of a house. Just maybe.

She goes to sleep that night, alone in her bed, with her last sight before unconsciousness being that of a gleaming ring on her left finger, and dreams of a husband who loves her.

oh more of sirius-bellatrix and regulus-narcissa parallels please! andromeda is also an interesting character for me sometimes i wonder as she was someone that grew up in such household what if she happened to fall in love with another pureblood would she be another ‘narcissa’? and a lot of people always automatically assume that before the marriage just like sirius that she was not a pureblood supremacist because she married a muggle-born but what if she was someone that somehow still aligned with the black family’ views but with ted tonks ‘he’s an exception’ but ‘rebellious’ enough to leave her privileges and then able to grow to changed her view after the 1st war and experiencing life with her family(tonks)

I honestly don’t think Andromeda was like Sirius. I also can’t really say how she was or how I imagine her because we know so little about her, but considering that she was in Slytherin, I’d say she probably didn’t have many issues with her family until she decided to marry Ted Tonks. Maybe she didn’t completely agree with her family’s ideas, or maybe she had never considered that blood supremacy was wrong until she started a relationship with Ted. Personally, I prefer this latter version, where she was probably a somewhat alienated person but without very strong convictions, therefore more open to other opinions, and that by meeting and falling in love with Ted, she made a decision. It fits much better with the role of the middle sister between two sisters with very strong personalities, while she had a softer one. But this is pure personal headcanon.

As for the parallel between the cousins, I’ve always thought Sirius has a lot in common with Bellatrix. Both are characters with extremely strong temperaments who hate with a passion and love in an obsessive way. Their feelings blind them. Bellatrix develops a personality marked by quite evident mental instability, which I believe stems first from her fanaticism and later from her years in prison, but her absolute loyalty to Voldemort and that obsession to please and go to the end for the person she holds as her reference is very similar to Sirius’s behavior with James, although Sirius does it in a less corrosive way. Sirius (like his cousin) is completely blinded by the memory of the person to whom he swore loyalty and fidelity. He committed to James in a platonic way, with James being his moral compass and at the same time the person he identified as his new family. Just as Bellatrix sees the Death Eaters as part of herself, the place where she belongs, Sirius does the same with James and everything he represents (the Marauders, the Order, Harry), and he does it in a visceral and totally irrational way that doesn’t heed any kind of coherent reasoning. At the end of the day, Sirius is a dog, and as a dog, he will follow his master to the grave and bite anyone he sees as a threat. To me, Bellatrix represents that darker and corrupted side of the Blacks, that vision of themselves as aristocrats with rights over the rest of the mortals—not just from a social perspective, like Narcissa, but also from a militant one. She is willing to kill and be killed for her ideals, just as Sirius is willing to kill and be killed for his. Both are aggressive, violent, and display a resentful and quite volatile, uncontrollable character. Only Voldemort can control Bellatrix, just as probably only James could control Sirius. They only obey their masters because they don’t recognize any other figure of authority. After all, they are both the eldest siblings.

In the case of Narcissa and Regulus, both are the youngest, and both are on the same side. But they not only coincide ideologically, but also in how they approach their political tendencies. Narcissa embodies the aristocracy that lives in a bubble and simply moves to maintain that bubble of privilege. She has been taught certain values that she doesn’t question, but she also doesn’t have an actively militant or bellicose attitude. She opines from the comfort of her home and is fine with others doing the work to uphold those values. She has a passive attitude, which I also see in Regulus, who probably joined the Death Eaters simply because it was expected of him and because he hadn’t questioned too much the extent to which his decisions might have consequences. Just like Narcissa, both are nobles who feel untouchable and don’t expect the course of events to turn against them. But it does. The events lead them to feel threatened and realize that the game of politics has consequences for everyone, and they are no exception—they aren’t immune to the war. And it’s at that moment that they see that something precious to them could be taken away by those who represent the values they once believed were in their favor. They don’t question their beliefs; they simply oppose those who represent them for strictly personal reasons. Neither Narcissa nor Regulus stop being who they are; they’ve always advocated for an individualistic view of the world, and when things individually go against them, they choose to act to come out as unscathed as possible and preserve what matters to them.

I really enjoy thinking about the dynamics of dysfunctional families because there are always parallels between their members, no matter how much they hate, distance themselves from, or separate from each other. It’s inevitable because, in the end, blood calls to blood.

Poet George Mackay Brown was born in Stromness, Orkney, on 17th October 1921.

Hailed as one of the greatest Scottish writers of the twentieth century. A prolific poet, admired by such fellow poets as Ted Hughes and Seamus Heaney, he was also an accomplished novelist, dramatist and a master of the short story. Bar a brief period in Edinburgh, where he associated with the ‘Rose Street’ crowd including Hugh MacDiarmid, Norman MacCaig and others, Mackay Brown spent most of his life in Orkney, and his work is saturated with references to his native islands. As Seamus Heaney wrote, in Mackay Brown’s work everything was passed ‘through the eye of the needle of Orkney’.

George Mackay Brown was the youngest of six children of John Brown, tailor and postman, and Mhairi Mackay, a Gaelic speaker. He grew up in fairly straitened circumstances as his father was unable to work through illness. Mackay Brown himself suffered from tuberculosis as a young man. In his twenties he worked as a journalist on the Orkney Herald.

During his early years Stromness was a “dry island”, there was no licensed premises, in 1920, the temperance movement voted the town ‘dry’ and it remained that way until 1947. And so it was 1948 aged 27 he first taste alcohol of which he wrote 1948 Mackay Brown first tasted alcohol, which he found to be “a revelation; they flushed my veins with happiness; they washed away all cares and shyness and worries. I remember thinking to myself ‘If I could have two pints of beer every afternoon, life would be a great happiness’ Subsequently, alcohol played a considerable part in his life, although he says, "I never became an alcoholic, mainly because my guts quickly staled”

Now a lot of posts you here of famous Scots entering University at very young ages, Mackay Brown is the exception, the the age of 30 he left the Orkney Isles for the first time to continue his education.

He a mature student at Newbattle Abbey Collegewhere he met the poet Edwin Muir who encouraged his writing and wrote the introduction to Mackay Brown’s first full collection of poems. He went on to study English at Edinburgh University, graduating in 1960.

Now I touched upon the alcohol thing earlier and where else in Edinburgh at in those days would an aspiring poet go? Of course it was Milnes Bar and into the company of Hugh MacDiarmid, Norman MacCaig and the likes. He met and fell in love with Stella Cartwright described as the bars muse was she was lover to a number of Scottish poets, they were briefly engaged but kept in touch until she passed away in 1985.

After his graduation Mackay Brown, who was prone to sickness,due to having previously suffered from tuberculosis decided to return home, living with his mother until her paassing, Despite almost continual ill-health he continued to write and gained numerous prizes for his work as well as post graduate work. He has been dubbed the Orkney Bard. His weekly column which ran for more than 25 years in The Orcadian from 1971 is in print in book form and gives an insight into his Stromness routines and his observations on a changing Orkney.

Throughout his life he not only had the bronchial problems but also suffered depression, this seems to have been an affliction that beset his family, his Uncle’s body was fished out of Stromness harbour in 1935 and it is thought he committed suicide, he himself spent almost a decade fighting his demons, while also having physical health problems, in 1981 he was given the last rights by his priest.

George Mackay Brown wrote 15 collections of poetry, 9 short story collections, 6 novels, 2 plays, 9 collections of essays,biographies and journals, some published posthumously.

He survived his near death encounter in 1981, his 1994 novel, Beside the Ocean of Time, was shortlisted for Booker Prize and judged Scottish Book of the Year by the Saltire Society.

Mackay Brown passed away on 13 April 1996 aged 73 after a short illness. For a man who spent his life writing about Orkney it was rather fitting that his funeral on April 16th coincided with the Feast of St Magnus, patron saint of Orkney.

Oah an ask I receive about this au :,], I'll gladly answer what I understood was asked! This au is still a wip, thus why I keep mentioning everything as a 'concept' , so thing's may change later.

First off, this AU is based off the ending where both all the original survivors (except Ted as he gets slugged) and the two other allied mastercomputers die. It's basically a continuation of what will happen with the Luna colony and AM in his considerable solitude, BUT with the addition of my Ocs.

The eggman post made reference to a route where AM slowly gets convinced by BE's survivors to reconcile with her, as the story itself is divided into a prologue (that explains the background of the moon colony, how BE escaped to Earth, met AM and eventually kinda had a relationship going on with him before their eventual separation), and the main story (where the humans arrive, this route OR the others happen, each leading to a different ending).

AM feels jealous towards BE's survivors because of two reasons: they resemble his just like you said, and they are being treated just like he once was by BE. So AM basically has a mindset of: "oh these humans that look just like the survivors I spent 109 years torturing are living in paradise AND being treated nicely by my ex (that a part of me still loves), how can this hell possibly get worse".

I'm not sure if this explanation was clear enough, as there's SO MANY details I didn't mention for this to make complete sense, but that's the idea the au follows so far.

In conclusion: evil computer fumbles his only possibility of a romantic interest ever, gets replaced by 5 young humans (ALL WITH MOM/DAD ISSUES) that help their new mom get thru grief + are given the chance to live their biggest dreams and be free in return. After a few years the evil computer reaches out to them, n they are given the chance to either help him with his evil plan, help him get his 'wife' back or act against him.

Okay, preliminary thoughts, after first time watching season 3 of Heartstopper.

(Some of these are just me screaming and probably lack context, i just wrote this really fast whilst watching, and then forgot what else was happening.)

MY BABIES ARE BACK!

- Not me doing a happy dance and squeeing with joy when Isaac says “I’m not in the mood to give my friends a vocab lesson.” SAME!

- Crying already.

- Nellie, like a good doggo, waiting for her dad outside the bathroom, really got me. That look!!!!!

- I loved Hailey Atwell as aunt Diane, but I still missed Olivia Colman so much… she made too much of an impact as Sarah, and you can really feel her absence.

- Screaming at the fact that they got Annette Badland (from Ted Lasso and Big Boys) to be Darcy’s gran!!! I love her, she’s perfect.

- OMG The Teachers ™

- If episode 3 was already getting to me and then episode 4 was super sad, I was still unprepared for the scene where Nick cries in Tao’s arms. (Something something Nick in his superhero outfit trying to be Charlie’s superhero, but also needing to cry, will delve more into that in my full episode analysis…)

- I weep every time I reread the comic when Charlie goes to talk to his parents, but hearing everything out of Charlie’s mouth made it even worse. I’m a mess…

- I honestly looooooved how they did episode 4, with the quick catch-up flashback structure and two perspectives. I didn’t think it would work, but it was great.

- It took me a whole 5 seconds to realize that when Nick said “vintage camera” he was referring to the HANDYCAM that Will’s dad used, and I honestly never thought I would feel the urge to punch Nick Nelson but I did…

- “I hope that when you get back you don’t feel like you have to lie to us anymore.” LOOOOOOOVED that whole home video they did for Charlie, perfect vibe, it was so nicely done. But that line really got me… Isaac was perfect this season.

- More crying…

- OMG the Charlie painting!!! All of Elle’s paintings! I wonder who made those really? Whose style is it? Have they ever talked about it??? I need to know!

- “I hope I get a soul”, “I hope I get mental health”. I didn’t know I could ask for these things for Christmas…

- Imogen was hilarious and so beautifully developed this season. Much like Nick, she’s going through a whole self-discovery phase, but hers is not as perfect.

- HENRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

- “Is this the boyfriend?” I need to talk soooo hard about the contrast between the two families. Nick has a whole family that loved him, except that he doesn’t get along with his brother and he has an absent dad, whilst Charlie has a difficult relationship with his family, but his sister really seems to get him. You can see the contrasting environment at Christmas, with the disjointed vibes at the Spring household, and the very warm and welcoming vibes at the Nelson household…

- Every time Tori pops us out of nowhere, it’s perfect. Love the spooked look on David’s face.

- Dysphoria talk!

- “Spare us the details”, “No! I want all the details!” I am Isaac and Isaac is me.

- I watched the trailer… I watched the clips… but I NEVER expected that Michael would be so FUCKING PERFECT. I need more of him. “Beautiful chaos.” I was in tears.

- “I don’t want to keep hurting you.” IMOGEEEEEEEN. Love this whole storyline. Can’t wait for more of them.

- Drunk Charlie!!! He’s so horny. Whilst drunk Nick is a little sad. And drunk Imogen is a bit of both. I’m more of a drunk Tara: extra anxious.

- As someone who just experienced a major meltdown at work, over which I’m still embarrassed, I love how Tara also went from “I want to die” to “IDGAF about anything” because that is the right response.

- The radio show scene proves that Yasmin Finney’s voice should be on everything. I could listen to her read scientific papers to me. Does anyone know if I can make her my satnav voice?

- Sincerely disappointed that Elle’s mum did not kick down the door and barge in and slap the interviewer, whilst Mr Argent tried to hold her back and Tao filmed the whole thing.

- But I wrote down everything that Elle said, because that’s going into my arsenal. “Trans people are not a debate”. PERIODT.

- Love how we see Nick hanging out with other people more, especially Tara, and how encouraging Tara is. Their friendship is so lovely.

- I honestly thought that Tao would say “I’m improving, I might even become the next… Elle Argent.”

- I never thought I would identify so hard with a fictional bisexual teen boy, but in the comic, and now here, when Nick talks about how much of his true self he was repressing before he figured out he was bi… I feel that.

- The whole uni road trip was perfect, but it felt too short. Also I wish we would have gotten the scene in which Nick and Charlie facetime and Nick gets a preview of Naked Charlie ™. *Was not prepared

- A little disappointed in Charlie’s rock band outfit, it looked nothing like the one in the comic… also, after seeing Joe Locke as Teen in “Agatha All Along”, I would have killed to see him in all black tight clothes. Nick’s head would have exploded, though…

- Although this season was definitely hornier, it wasn’t quite horny enough. Here’s hoping that season 4 (which will definitely happen) will be the horniest ever.

I could imagine either Kieran or Juliana singing "Holding Out for a Hero" from Shrek. Juliana, possibly referring to Kieran, or Kieran himself, for pure irony. (Also referring to Juliana) Also I made backstory on why Kieran would be a good singer because that's just how I am.

I can imagine Kieran's grandparents not being too keen on technology, so they didn't get to listen to actual songs (except for the traditional music at the Kitakami festivals). So you can imagine how stoked they would be when their grandparents find an old radio in the garbage. Their grandparents don't use it often, but Carmine and Kieran used it ALL THE TIME. Carmine is more interested in just listening to the songs, but Kieran started memorizing the lyrics and singing the songs that would play most often. To the point where mean girl Carmine would tell him to shut up sometimes. That didn't stop him from singing though, as he would go out into the most secluded place in Kitakami and sing. (sometimes taking the radio with him, which would make Carmine angry)

He stopped singing post "incident" to focus more on getting stronger. After making up with Juliana though, he started singing more often. Juliana absolutely loves it when he sings to her, like old love songs and such.

on media literacy, shipping, and Ted Lasso...

This post was helpful to learn Hannah's more nuanced thoughts about Ted & Rebecca. I put the quotes in a word doc for people who can't see the words.

The T&R discourse is all over the place and I'm realizing that there needs to be a hard distinction between:

1) Ted & Rebecca as endgame (profess mutual romantic love, live happily ever after), and

2) Ted feeling romantic love for Rebecca and that truth is made clear to the audience through the writing, Rebecca's feelings are ambiguous-soulmate, and the characters are not necessarily endgame.

I had hoped for option 1. I reasonably thought the red bottom shoes were the clearest sign that Rebecca was going to Kansas, and I think the writers intended for me to think that. But the show also has a clear thread of melancholy and I wouldn't have been surprised if endgame was not in the cards. (I was also haunted by the reference to Once in the Christmas episode...)

So, as co-creator, Brendan Hunt, says, there was no enthusiasm in the writers' room for option 1. But option 2 is right there. Instead of the ambiguous ending that created feelings of confusion and being baited, I wish they had let the reasons for the heartbreak be clearer. Let the audience inside a little more so that the signs could maintain their narrative power and promise. In any other show that wasn't organized like a tight three-season arc that's filled with callbacks and parallels and signs, then ambiguity could be fine. But the way Ted Lasso is uniquely written, clear payoff on the central romantic arc was always going to be crucial and total ambiguity was always going to feel like a set up.

The anti-shippers who argue that there were no narrative signs towards a possible romance are dead wrong, but I agree with them that there was very little explicit romantic heat between Ted and Rebecca throughout the show. (I can't think of any except maybe Ted's "body language" during the gala and apology embraces.) I was hoping the story would get there given the signs and the narrative arc, but it never happened. So we're arguing about "media literacy" using different evidence, and I believe that signs are the stronger evidence given their specificity. We can all see that Ted Lasso is baking cookies so he can give them to Rebecca Welton every damn day, and I think most people can agree that that's at least peculiar. These signs of peculiar behavior and symbols piled up over three years, defining a clear likelihood of a romance in the works. But the case about heat is more subjective, a feel.

I have a friend who is a very respectful anti lolol. I encouraged her to watch the show and, when Ted found the matchbook in his pocket, she texted me "👀", even though she still didn't want it to happen. We had different hopes for the story outcome, but having "media literacy" is literally our jobs 😂 and she absolutely agrees the signs for romance were there and affirms the reasons the shippers are upset. The only difference between us was that, as a devotee to the TL writing approach, I became invested in the signs, and figured the heat would come when it came.

So when it ended, I had two distinct feelings. As a shipper, I was disappointed that option 1 did not come to pass. (ETA: Here's a great article breaking down the reasons for that.) But as a lover of the art of television, I felt a legitimate sense of loss that option 2 also did not come to pass, meaning the narrative signs were never acknowledged, they were just dropped like they didn't mean anything. Signs sometimes not being signs after all is life, sure, but tv shows aren't a realistic representation of life, they are an art form. The abrupt abandonment of their unique approach to writing created unnecessary turmoil in the fandom. This would have been bad enough, but then Brendan (and Hannah a bit as well) unhelpfully poured gas over it 🙄 by refusing to seriously contend with the show's narrative method and, instead, implied shippers (largely women) were making things up. But turns out that shippers are fucking smart and we took that shit seriously, look no further than the detailed gif sets on the tumblr tedbecca tag. Their comments broke trust between the storytellers and their very captive audience (including some media literate non-shippers). Their repeated "soulmates can be platonic" explanation was never in debate, it was always what we were seeing on the screen, the storytelling itself.

So, I'm sad that the project of it all played out the way it did. There's still a part of me that thinks maybe it will come back around someday so that the story can pay off the narrative debts it created, "thunder and lightening," daily homemade biscuits, etc. But it's hard for me to imagine I'd want to come back to the story whether or not that happens. Re-watches have also lost something special.

I love how most people in the sp fandom have just collectively decided that Kyle is a devoted basketball kid until the day he dies, but we need to come together and put forward a new idea. I need more people to be talking about one thing and one thing only…

Kyle the Lacrosse Kid.

Now, before you come after me, hear me out. Because I can already hear your angry shouts and the mobs with their pitchforks so let’s back it up.

In Phone Destroyer and the SOT game (I won’t mention the SOT episodes because I don’t remember so correct me on that one if Elf King Kyle appears in the trilogy)

Kyle is shown as a the Elf King or Kyle of the Drow Elves. His weapon? A fucking lacrosse stick. He plays lacrosse, because if you have ever played lacrosse before you know damn well that it is hard to throw with a lacrosse stick and he is fucking amazing at it. Also, you want me to believe he just has a bunch of lacrosse balls lying around? Plus, in his mythical player card, his staff literally looks like a lacrosse stick which is honestly just such an amazing detail.

Of course, to all the skeptics out there, is there a possibility that he just borrowed the equipment from another kid? Yes. Is it also possible he’s just weirdly good with a lacrosse stick? Also yes. Will I acknowledge those possibilities ever again? No. Why? Because of his player card.

“Oh but he plays baseball in the spring, just like the rest of the boys!”

IN ONE EPISODE. But also, a lot of people play lacrosse in the summer. I feel like he’d play lacrosse during the spring in like middle school, but he doesn’t have the haircut because his hair won’t cooperate. Also Sheila is such a soccer mom, like, tell me otherwise.

Kyle plays basketball in the winter and lacrosse in the spring and Sheila is a totally overprotective and aggressive soccer mom. Like the soccer mom equivalent to Randy in ‘The Losing Edge’ except she mostly fights the refs over things like calling “false penalties”. But when she does fight parents, it’s just the parent of whatever kid decided to body check Kyle. But it’s weirdly endearing because it’s just cause she cares, and the team loves her because she brings them snacks and I will die on this hill. You can snatch lacrosse player Kyle and aggressive soccer mom Sheila from my cold, dead hands.

Synopsis

Ted Williams (テッド・ウィリアムズ)

Ted Williams is Bubble's friend on Goiky and the main hero. He was a typical student, not less strong and smart but still unmissable in many trials. He is also the president of the SF (Science Fiction) Club. He has a crush on the club's vice president Zoey.

Bubble Buddy (バブルバディ)

Bubble Buddy (named Bubble in anime) is an anthropomorphic bubble from the Goiky planet and the title deuteragonist. She has many tools hidden in her mouth and can inflate herself by inhaling too much air, which she uses to lift herself or as a mode of transportation for others. She can also stretch her tongue for many miles. Her full name is Bubbly Bubble Buddy Bubba Boba Pop Speech Bubble Poppy Popster, which she usually uses to introduce herself, causing everyone to almost fall asleep. She also likes boys like Snowball and sometimes flirts with them. She is also scared when someone pops her when she gets popped, her body will come back to her recovery, which is normal for her species.

Kirby (カービー)

Kirby is a robot accompanied by Bubble Buddy who helps to solve problems for both Ted Williams and Bubble Buddy. Whenever he consumes too much sweets, he becomes drunk in the same way humans become drunk when consuming too much alcohol. His name references to the video game character of the same name

Zoey Zoe (ゾーイ・ゾーイ)

Zoey Zoe is Ted's childhood friend and also his love interest. The vice president of the SF Club, she is very bold and very reliable, unlike Ted. She is also the cause of the rivalry between both Pokey and Ted.

Pokey (ポーキー)

The class bully, Pokey is Ted's rival in school when it comes to clubs and Zoey. He is the leader of the ESP club and believes that he can do Psychokinesis, which others find confusing, except for his two lackeys. His real name is Lloyd Liam, but this is only mentioned in the Anime.

Fanny Hater (ファニー嫌い)

Fanny is Bubble Buddy's anthropomorphic blue fan friend. She can be stern, angry, sassy, and serious to Bubble Buddy, sometimes scolding her for what she's doing wrong or just being stupid. She even says, "I hate you!" and hates everything. She also displays some motherly instincts in taking care of their friend, Bubble Buddy.

Ruby Rube (ルビー・ルーブ)

Ruby is Bubble Buddy's friend. Despite being a jewel, and can be shattered, Ruby is quite talented and also very good at technical stuff such as creating weird gadgets or fixing things. She sometimes cannot speak properly.

Snowball Snowy (スノーボールスノーウィー) Snowball (Also known as "SB" for short) is one of Bubble's friends and is an anthropomorphic snowball, he is known to be rude and grouchy. But he is intelligent and can be friendly to Bubble, Ruby, and the rest of the gang sometimes (especially Kirby). Snowball has a running gag in the series, whenever someone mistakes him for a yin in the yin-yang symbol, due to his color. He gets super irritated.

Also i asked him for you (but for my own curiosity as well) why 2x02 and 2x09 and his reply was ‘because it shows Brian’s both sides, duuuh’ basically the way he explained it was ‘in the second episode you see him caring and loving towards Blondie and helpful and protective and you see that ending where they make looooooveeeee (yes this part was sang) and he is so careful with him and you see the scarf! and then in the other episode you see the hurt, the pain and the bitch of a mother he had and you are forced to imagine the life he lived. You also get the fun and dont give a fuck Brian but more importantly you get a tiny glimpse behind the curtain of Brian Kinney. Basically you see both sides of the coin and it was the easiest way to show and explain my man with the options I had.’ and i would like you to know that this was said very insightfully and nicely almost like a Ted talk and then afterwards, since he sent this to me through voice memo (his latest way of communication bc of his cast which has only backfired twice) he sent another one that just said ‘seriously i thought you were supposed to be a long time fan? How do you not know this’ so I officially got shamed and bullied by a new fan.

Also he now knows Gale’s real name and it’s kinda funny because he is clearly used of calling him Brian. So he keeps messing up and just refers to him as ‘the dude i like’ so, there’s that. With Randy he didn’t have that much problem but he also learned it through the podcast and still refers to him as Blondie. But it is funny because he will be talking to our parents about Gale and switch between Gale/Brian and they now all play this fun little game called ‘is he talking about the cat or the guy?’ You’d be surprised how many times they got the answer wrong. Also he was forced to socialize with humans while sick and spending all day watching qaf and he was talking to someone about it and they once again thought he was talking about his ex. So he explained it’s a tv show and then tried to sell it to one of the (straight) guys by saying ‘hot dude fucking hot dudes (that was his opening pitch). Killer soundtrack. Funny jokes from my man Brian. Seriously the soundtrack is dope. Watch it you wont regret it’ and the guy asked him if it was good and my brother went ‘it was the worst and best thing that’s ever happened to me’..

As for the Gag Reels? He absolutely loved them especially Gale’s blooper from S1 where he says smoking pussy instead of cigars but he absolutely lost it at the S3 wall push blooper. I’m talking pointing to the tv and going ‘huh? They? Kissy kiss after a fuck up! Imagine if the wall push happened’ and that cute blooper with Randy and Gale at the bar when they tried to catch the cop made him love both of them even more, if that’s even possible. However he was so annoyed that there is such little amount of gag reel and bts content, especially of Gale and Randy. He is demanding to know why the hell there’s so little bts content to begin with but especially when it comes to Gale and Randy. He wants to know why the fuck they were missing half of the time. He was also a little annoyed that there was more Hal than Gale because to him, Gale is the moment. And ngl, I fully agree with him on this one even tho I did explain that they kept to themselves more and didn’t like to be in the public eye much or in front of the camera unless filming, to which he replied ‘well they should’ve thought about ME before they acted so selfish’

I ALMOST FORGOT! Tomorrow I’m showing him ATX and Gale’s Interview. The plan was to do it a week ago but he got sick and acted all dramatic like he was dying (it was a bad cold) so cause of that the man spent the entire week watching……QAF/Britin fan edits (my cousins are betting that he will discover fanfic by himself which I really hope doesn’t happen, especially with his luck). Most of the edits obviously made him sad. So he watched more edits to feel better, which made him sad again. It was a vicious cycle that he refused to break. There’s this one video he found of Michael and Britin to the song Jealousy and he sent it to everyone he knows so that they’d see why he can’t stand him. He sent A LOT of us videos he found (I randomly would get texts from him while working saying stuff like ‘omg this one almost killed me’ and itd be a Brian edit to the song Heat Wave) and he’d send that to our parents and his friends too. First two he sent were videos of Brian Kinney (shocker). One was to Call Me By Your Name which made me immediately remember Randy’s love for lil nas x (I need their podcast to make a comeback) and the second one was titled ‘100% reason to remember the name’ in case you wanted to see what he sent to our parents and then acted shocked that they ignored him. But yeah he sent those videos to our family group chat and to his friend group chat and it was captioned ‘*heart emojis* I know right?’ So basically somehow him finishing the show made his obsession even stronger.

Listen, I’ve had a filmy weekend, okay? First my friends got engaged and threw a party, then my other friend and I had a sleepover and binged The Romantics, and on top of that, I think I’ve watched five other different Bollywood movies this weekend and I need to channel this energy somehow so please enjoy my explanations for casting BTS in these 2010s Bollywood rom-coms which I hope one day me (or anyone else) can turn into fics thank you very much

Ok, let’s begin:

Kim Namjoon - Baar Baar Dekho

Listen, I know this movie was critically panned? Do I fucking care? No. I love this movie, I would go to war for this movie because Sidharth and Katrina induce massive amounts of bi panic within me. I love Jai and Diya, I love their love, I love the time travel, I love Kala Chashma. So that’s why I’m choosing none other than Bangtan’s resident intellectual Mr. Namjoon to fill those shoes, okay? Namjoon’s expressed his own profound thoughts about marriage, just like Mr. Jai, and him as a genius mathematician who gets caught in a time loop. Drooling

Kim Seokjin - Hasee Toh Phasee

Again, I would d word for this movie bc it’s just so??!!! My crush on Sidharth Malhotra non-withstanding, this movie is chaotic and beautiful in the best way. It doesn’t try to be flashy or suave, and instead embraces its inner dork. Who does that remind you of, huh? Mr. Kim Seokjin, that’s fuckin who. Nikhil and Meeta just give major OTP vibes, him being a through and through himbo and her being a neurodivergent genius who he can’t help simping over!! Give me Seokjin and OC causing major chaos I beg! And put Zehnaseeb on in the background while you’re at it!

Min Yoongi - Khoobsurat

Am I biased bc I’m Pakistani? Am I biased bc it’s Fawad? Maybe, maybe not! But to quote Lizzie McGuire, this is what dreams are made of!! An off-beat physiotherapist meets a tsundere prince?? And he gradually warms up to her while they get into their own royal shenanigans? You can’t tell me this role wasn’t written for Yoongi, and long haired Yoongi specifically. The grumpy x sunshine trope is super strong with this one, and I love the brightness that Milli brings to the entire family, not just the prince. The Disney movie of everyone’s dreams <3

Jung Hoseok - Mere Brother Ki Dulhan

Listen, this movie doesn’t get enough credit for just being fun the entire way through!! The comedy is top-tier and the characters are just so likeable and wholesome!! And just this big, amazing hare-brained matchmaking effort that is so Bollywood!! And Imran Khan’s Kush being in love with Katrina’s Dimple, who is definitely bisexual (Dhunki, anyone?!). It’s giving King Hobi vibes, not only because he would go out of his way to do anything for someone he loved, but also because Choomantar is definitely siblings with Daydream and I need to see him bust it down to Do Dhaari Talwar thank you for coming to my TED Talk

Park Jimin - Aisha

Let’s all agree that Gal Mitthi Mitthi Bol is a banger, and then let’s all swoon over Jimin in this adaptation which is based on Emma!! I literally can’t decide if I want Jimin in Aisha or Arjun’s role, but it’d be so fun either way!! I kinda like the idea of him trying to set up all his guy friends and them just being such a fun group who all have their own individual love stories sighhhh. And OC being Arjun who’s all no nonsense and the grounding presence in Jimin/Aisha’s life!! Also the style in this movie was inspired by Clueless, and our mans models for Dior so that’s enough for me to want to make it happen

Kim Taehyung - I Hate Luv Storys

Fun fact - I once watched this movie instead of studying for an exam that was happening at the end of the weekend and had so much fun I passed out on my friend’s couch until 3pm the next day!! This is another one of those nostalgic movies that pays homage to all the fun romantic Bollywood tropes!! And all the DDLJ references made me totally think Taehyung! Except he’s not Jay, he’s Simran, and OC will be Jay, and Taehyung has to convince her to believe in romance!! I think that’s a fitting task for the man I consider to be the most romantic member of Bangtan (he’s SRK’s Korean incarnation imo)

Jeon Jungkook - Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania

If there’s one himbo I stan, it’s Humpty Sharma. If there’s another himbo I stan, it’s Jungkook. I literally have a severe emotional attachment to this movie and could probably quote most of the lines to you. What I love about this is how Humpty literally shatters all the stereotypes about toxic masculinity - he cries, he’s vulnerable, he believes in love. It just screams bby boi Jungkook vibes. Also pls him doing the most to get Kavya her wedding lehenga - that’s some of the cutest shit Bollywood has pulled in a while and I’m 10000% here for it (pls bring in Jimin and Tae as Shonty and Poplu too)
