Maybe he was kicked out for being an asshole. Shit wait. Iskalls crysalization and Cleos becoming rock are probably intertwined in some way- theyre mentioned by impulse as being fucked with by the watchers. Bdubs was cut off- which seems to be one of the watchers signature moves. so thats cool ya know. Grian mentions that the watchers want nothing to do with him- he has a watchers mask in his collection though, so im assuming that hes an ex watcher in some way. Hermits are also going /missing/. Which i think is what we saw happening with Ren there in the end. I was also wrong about the hermits you have medallions having significance. TLDR: So idea on what the story is. So i think the watchers released? are working with? The dragon to cause havoc on the hermits in some way. Hurting and attacking the people. For some reason the pc is called upon to stop the dragon. Alas the watchers are actively interfering to stop the pc from killing the dragon. (And maybe thus freeing the hermits?) I dont know why though. Hermits have some fucked shit going on. and people in this fandom can't envision this but after everything we know about her and Matty and how things went down, I cannot see how their fling only started after the breakup. I personally head canon almost everyone without explicitly stated sexualities as bi because that's what I am and that's what I relate with. I haven't seen the latest (I'm not sure what it is exactly, a book I think?) About Eddie and his past, but I was just confused about your post.

its not the headcanons themselves thats a red flag. like i dont give a fuck if you think characters are gay or lesbian thats not the issue. what triggers a red flag in my brain about those particular sexualities for those characters is the st*ddie of it all and how that side of the fandom cannot be normal about those (or any) characters. ESPECIALLY when when you have eddie and chrissy being flirty on screen, you have grace and joe confirming as much, eddie dedicates his big hero moment to chrissy...and people wanna claim theyre gay/lesbian. its suspicious. i think grace has even come out and said she headcanons chrissy as bi. and like obviously actors headcanons dont equate canon (unless they explicitly say thats how they were playing a certain scene, like i think joe said he played his scene with grace in the forest as more flirty than it was written? dont quote me on that im not keeping up with these people lmao)

I’ve seen some ppl say it’s good that she’s telling fans off abt trying to control what she can or cannot do, and I don’t necessarily disagree but I think there’s more nuance to it. When it comes to the Vienna incident, yes I totally get it, ppl shouldn’t have been pressuring her to speak up etc. My problem is when people lump things like her matty healy fling into this kind of take-no-shit attitude, or her private jet emissions (again, there’s nuances, im not saying she should auction her jet off or smth lmao).

I was a hardcore gaylor for six months and followed both kaylor and swiftgron blogs religiously but yeah - the more I looked into both the less likely they seem to have happened romantically. Liked the vibes of swiftgron best and hung in there longer with those blogs/podcasts, but Kevin mcH's denial was the final straw for me. I backed all the way away after that. Was surprised that it didn't cause more of a ripple in the swiftgron community tbh but they just got mad and said he should shut up.

I mean look - I was a soft Kaylor like from Rep until 2020 lmao. I heard Dress and it sounded SO FUCKING GAY and obvi I knew fuck all about this Joe Alwyn guy beyond how he was in an Ang Lee movie I had decided not to watch and that he was gonna be in the Yorgos so it actually didn’t really occur to me it would be about him like I was like “wait but which best friends did she fuck lmao?” and the internet was like “ED SHEERAN! I love them but after Reki, Cherry and Tadashi feel like the most infantilized characters in Sk8 fanon. Cherry's anxiety gets written like he's just a baby when it can make him kind of high strung and mean in canon, and Tadashi is written like a perfect nice guy when his own issues were part of why he misunderstood Adam too. He's either a battered wife or a saint instead of someone who also has issues, not just Adam.

Yeah usually I'm of the mindset that people can hc whatever they want but the infantilization of people with mental illnesses is honestly disgusting.

I see it more often if Cherry and Reki but I have seen Tadashi be taken from someone who is of the belief that his opinion doesn't matter and that what he says isn't relevant and instead give him the decision making capabilities of a child and it is annoying.

Seeing Reki and Cherry be reduced down to people who cannot function due to their anxiety is annoying. Cherry needing Joe to take care of him at every waking moment is honestly exhausting to read. Reki needing to be coddled constantly by everyone around him is also a headache to read. Both characters are very largely independent. Reki appeared to be quite alone before Langa showed up and Cherry most likely wouldn't allow himself to be coddled. If he could have walked after getting hit by Adam I'm sure he would have and flipped Adam off before walking to the hospital since he would probably rather have that then Joe carry him to the car and Shadow take him to the hospital 😂

It is crazy how I see Cherry and Reki having to be coddled by others in fics when I would take their characters in the opposite direction. I am of the belief that both of them are self destructive to the point where they won't accept help (especially Cherry) until they are talked into it or it is forced upon him.

Cherry appears to have attachment issues. When I headcanon a Canon compliant Cherry I can see him able to explain all his mental illnesses down to a tee and explain where they stem from and as such believes he is capable of navigating things on his own. He built Carla so he is able to function on his own and he probably sees his over reliance on Joe’s company as a burden. When he is sent to the hospital his anxiety probably overrode his rational thinking and that is how he ended up at Sia La Luce. I think he is beginning to make progress after this though and finds himself able to properly rely on Joe without it feeling like he is being a burden and leave Carla behind for Shadow to use.

This is just a very quick explanation of how I see Cherry’s development. I could go into this because we all know how much I adore Cherry.

Then there is Reki.

Reki was alone before Langa shows up, and he is the oldest of his siblings. I didn't touch much on Cherry’s communication issues but Reki definitely has communication issues too. He wasnt able to communicate with Langa how he felt until he was overwhelmed and then after their fight he avoided him.

Instead of either character being coddled it is clear to me that both of them would rather be on their own then "burden" people with their problems.

Now let's talk about Tadashi.

Tadashi, as I have viewed him, is a victim of abuse. He worked at a young age and the only relationship we see him form is with Ainosuke who would also go on to become his boss. It is clear to me that something happened between his childhood and adulthood that resulted in him feeling/believing his opinions and what he has to say doesn't matter.

Regardless, Tadashi isn't perfect. None of the characters are! When I read fics that happen post ep 12 they often write him as being able to navigate not only his own issues but also Adam’s and to that I say: bullshit.

This guy does not know what he is doing with himself nevermind Adam.

I dont like Tadashi being used as a tool to progress Adam’s mental health. Not when they both clearly have some shit going on.

As for the "battered wife" comment. I dont read fics where Tadashi is being abused. They aren't fun for me to read because they are most often written by people who don't consider Adam’s mental health either. I think it is extremely out of character for Adam to ever hurt Tadashi if I'm being honest (especially post ep 12). Yes, Adam has a twisted vision of what love is but I just can't see him physically harming Tadashi.

This was all very quickly written out. I could delve deeper into any one of these characters, but this is getting long... so don't infantilize people with mental illnesses please lmao. (I dont think anything is Canon confirmed although it feels like it is very clearly implied through them, especially Cherry and Reki).

also it features some of those good ol’ disaster stories we love to gasp at

dude gets called in to consult on an issue where the solution was bog-obvious: “clear the fucking cache files.”  this issue had cost the company like months of their life.  and they thought they were ‘saving’ money by not hiring a senior engineer.  lmao

dude gets called in to fix a project that was taking too long.  he asks the engineers what’s up, and they tell him this one egomaniacal PM keeps assigning bugs to the wrong people, e.g. assigning networking issues to graphics programmers, graphics issues to gameplay programmers, etc, and the PM gets real mad whenever people... reassign issues... to the right people... so everyone just gave up and started working on shit outside their expertise.  guy points this issue out to management, and management responds with: “wait, who told you this?  rude insubordinate motherfuckers.  we want to crack down on the engineers who told you about the PM” (a month later the entire engineering team quit)

....as well as a truly breathtakingly awful story of just outright grifting in a manner i did not think possible:

A high-level engineer will often look outside the code to diagnose issues with it. This is especially true when many moving parts are involved in the development of a project. Knowing the background of all parties involved can be especially illuminating.

Over time you can start to see patterns with how certain companies work, and if a company says sub-contractor X is causing problem Y, and if you have previous experience with X's work, you're one step ahead of solving problem Y. While this information can be invaluable, unfortunately unless you have been doing this type of work for a while, you won't have a prior catalog of information to sift through. This can sometimes be solved by the simple act of buying another engineer a drink, as this article originally pointed out. Engineers usually will not break NDA but getting gossip about how a company operates is much easier than one might think. I cannot count the number of times I have solved large-scale problems by simply finding out from an ex-engineer, or a friend of a friend of a friend, that company X says they do one thing, but in-fact do another. It is hard to write about these types of problems though, as they tend to involve very specific people at very specific places with very specific problems; writing about them would go against the discreet aspect of my work. Sometimes background information can be used to solve issues ranging from who has the correct animation files to what happened to their millions of dollars.

Here is one example that might be hard to read with names, numbers, and minor specifics changed.

Company Moose was hired by Publisher Squirrel to make Game with a budget of $1,000,000 over a 2-year time span. Publisher Squirrel stipulated that Company Moose must use Contractor Rabbit to do their concept art, and Contractor Bird to do their animation work. Both Contractor Rabbit and Contractor Bird's fees were to be paid from this $1,000,000 budget. Company Moose accepted these terms, even though they were advised not to do so by Engineering Consultant Bob, who said that realistically they would need $2,000,000 to develop Game. Company Moose ended up taking 3 years and spending a budget of $2,500,000 to achieve an underwhelming and partially incomplete Game. I was brought in at the end of these 3 years by Company Moose, to see if there was anything that could be done to fully develop Game with minimal budget, and to figure out what went wrong. After digging up information about all parties involved, it was pretty trivial to prove that Publisher Squirrel had Board Member Joe, who had a hidden stake in both Contractor Rabbit and Contractor Bird, and who had maliciously told both Contractor Rabbit and Contractor Bird specs that required far less work than what was actually required, causing them to underdeliver, while knowing that the engineering team at Company Moose was not skilled enough to realize that the work coming in was not up to par. This information was gathered by asking the grunt engineers what they thought was going on, and by asking Engineering Consultant Bob for help at a local game company's open bar event. Because Company Moose signed off on the work that was given to them by Contractor Rabbit and Contractor Bird, legally it was Company Moose's fault that Company Moose ended up needing to pay overages to get more work done from Contractor Rabbit and Contractor Bird, inflating profits for Board Member Joe. This was a potential red flag that was correctly flagged by Engineering Consultant Bob, but Bob was merely a consultant and Company Moose did not have an engineering lead to confirm this with. If Company Moose had a high-level engineer, they may have backed out of this deal, or at least been able to identify the sub-par work coming in from Contractor Rabbit and Contractor Bird, and would have been able to dispute the issue with Publisher Squirrel based on Board Member Joe's forced stipulations. Instead, Company Moose ultimately ended up being royally fucked by Publisher Squirrel, and Company Moose now no longer exists, whereas Publisher Squirrel is continuing their bad practices to this day, except Publisher Squirrel is now Publisher Trash Panda.

News outlets fully agreed and reported Company Moose was solely at fault with zero details regarding Board Member Joe, Contractor Rabbit, or Contractor Bird. The whole truth regarding these situations never comes out and is usually skewed heavily towards whoever is responsible for the engineering effort, regardless of whether other malicious actors are at play.

I would like to state for the record before we begin that this is my personal reasons for not enjoying the format of television and not “why television is bad'' because im sure there's many people whose reasoning for liking TV is the same as my reasons for disliking them. please dont get mad at me if you disagree lmao

I feel like the short answer could be: “I have a degree in theatre and i prefer books” 

But really i hate the fact that the story is subject to change via outside forces.

In a well written play or book, there is a beginning, middle and end. It is a complete story that has been well thought out and woven together. Every detail is important and makes sense dramaturgically. You have your characters and your plot and nothing about that changes. We’re taught in Theatre School (TM) that the playwright is the first artist, and everything goes back to the playwright’s words. The story cannot change because of outside forces and it will not change over time. Once a book has been published, it is done. And yeah in theatre, a play can be done by many people with multiple interpretations of the story but it always goes back to the playwright’s words as they are the first artist and it is about honoring those words. Yada yada. you get it.

TV is always subject to change. Actors leave because there was drama on set or because they have other projects to work on. Writers change and the tone of the show changes. Or they go to a different network and the show changes. You never know how long the show is actually going to go so it could be cancelled in the middle of an important plot they never got to wrap up or the show could extend past the original plot idea and the seasons get more and more ridiculous as they’re just trying to come up with shit to do so they can keep the show running.

Like supernatural, which went on for far too fucking long and just kept spitting out nonsense when they could have wrapped up in season five.

Like the Vampire Diaries, where the main fucking character Elena Gilbert left the show (which was ridiculous!!) or when her little brother Jeremy was just like written out of the show and then never talked about again like what the hell

Like Timeless, which got cancelled after two seasons and left so many loose ends (they had to like, beg for a movie to wrap everything up) 

Like the Magicians, which just, like, sigh. Y’all know. I don’t want to get into it. Y’all know. 

Hell, even Parks and Rec, with Ann and Chris leaving the show. If Parks and Rec had been a book Ann would have never left!!! Never!!! 

Characters get pregnant because the actors who play them get pregnant and suddenly THAT’s the plot line of the season. (Wynonna Earp, Brooklyn 99, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Sex and The City, Bones, Friends, The Big Bang Theory, Once Upon A Time, Charmed, The Vampire Diaries, Parks and Rec, Grey’s Anatomy, The X-Files, Yes I Looked Up This List To Prove My Point)

If an actor breaks their foot then the writers have to change the plot. Everything about the story is subject to change due to outside forces and that might be a selling point for some people but i do not vibe with it!! 

And also, you’re watching the story unfold over the course of time and something could change halfway through the season and they abandon the really cool plot they were working on to suddenly set up a way for them to kill off the main character of the show. (okay apparently i do want to get into it with the magicians).

Like call me a snob but i like a concise arch! Something that the show is working towards, the story that they’re telling and the thesis of the show, and the end goal they’re working towards. I just honestly don’t like the “stories wrap up in one season and will we get another? Maybe? Okay yes we will so let’s come up with a new big bad for the characters to fight who’s got ideas” or like if you get seven seasons into a show and they’re like “And here’s my long lost sister that ive literally never mentioned before but we needed something exciting for the plot so here she is!” like i hate that shit. I know my old roommate loooooved when TV shows pulled twists like that so im not saying it’s bad writing im saying I personally hate this style of writing. 

I just keep throwing in these disclaimers so no one gets pissy at me lmao 

I think what caused me to realize and put a name to these feelings was watching the Schitt’s Creek Finale. I love Schitt’s Creek because it feels like one concise story. The characters all grow and develop and have an arch and at the natural conclusion of that arch, the story wrapped up. I loved that shit. It was a game changer for me. Any other show would have kept going and the tone of the show would have been totally different and frankly im glad they wrapped it up when they did and as they did. It was a perfect ending. 

I haven’t really watched the Good Place but I’m told similar things about it. 

Avatar the Last Airbender which we can all agree is the greatest show ever written had a clear plotline throughout the whole series and a goal they were working towards even if they did have side plots, it was all building up to one endgame. And it was stellar. 

I also recently rewatched parks and rec which is one of my favorite shows of all time and i do truly love it but like the whole point of the show originally was that they were gonna build a park and there were times in the show that they just totally forgot about that goal to work on other storylines until they were like ANN’S LEAVING WE GOTTA BREAK GROUND. That’s annoying! And once parks and rec started getting really popular and making more money they were able to be like “let’s send them to england! France! DC! Scotland! San Francisco! Let’s bring in Michelle Obama and Joe Biden and John McCain and Madeleine Albright! Which like all of that was really cool and some of the best parts of the series but also just another example of how the show changed over time as they got more name recognition and money.

Also lmao quite honestly i just recently came to these conclusions and put words to these feelings during the quarantine so after 23 years of being pissy at tv shows all the time i honestly probably will watch less of it. I probably wont stop completely tho. Ive already said that im not gonna watch tv shows with queer characters until the show is over and its been confirmed for me that the show treats its queer characters and viewers with respect and dignity and i stand by that. (It’s the only reason why ive started to watch black sails.) im for sure never watching another cw show again. I have literally never finished a CW show because something has happened in it halfway through that pissed me off so much i never finished the series

beginners guide to the members of led zeppelin (kind of)

a disclaimer before anyone starts reading: we all know led zeppelin is shady as hell and we hardly ever get anything confirmed or denied around here. so some stuff is up for speculation. everything in this post are things i've read in books, heard in interviews, or got from some other source. when it comes to “facts about led zeppelin” sometimes you gotta take it with a grain of salt. but honestly it’s led zeppelin we’re talking about, anything is possible. also this is all in good fun and giggles. with that being said, let’s get started with introductions to the members themselves.

PS i wont be reblogging tri spoilers (besides MINOR stuff like, digivolutions of already confirmed digivolution lines or non-spoilery shitposts, but I’ll try to tag shitposts as #tri spoilers anyways [digivolutions specific to tri ill tag as well but not ones that were already basically confirmed]) for a while so ur safe here!  I’m just gonna like everything/most things because then I can rb em to hisyaryumon lmao (also u should check out hisyaryumon....its me n charlie’s digimon blog)

EP 1:

- ok. alright. ok. good. they’re dealing with kari’s emotions now instead of just. nothing.  ok. alright. cool.  Still dont like how obscure/”artsy” they’re being with it, this is digimon not kagerou project, but ok.

- Also. I stand by tk and kari being one of the few good straight ships in digimon.  just saying.

- kari: this is my fault... me: god damn it shut up you little brat also me: god relatable ALSO me: ill take whatever display of emotions i can get

- I love how nobody believes tai is dead like.  They’re upset and worried but they’re also like “nah. he cant be. that fucking asshole just left us in our time of need” (actually only matt is the last one)

EP 2:

- I had thoughts but then the 02 kids happened and I entered another plane of reality.  I don’t feel real right now

- the only one I can remember is evil!gennai being a dumbass and being like “SUFFER AND SQUIRM YOU PATHETIC HUMANS AS YOU FIGHT OVER THE LAST SEAT” 1. humans are KNOWN for their ability to care for others you dumb obvious fuck and 2. is. is the entire tube going? because that tube can fit too people if they squish.  This isn’t a joke I’m serious it can.

- oh yeah also when i saw whomstever the fuck his name is (adult guy who i love but fuck names) and he was all bloodied i was like “its a cold day in hell when i see blood in digimon” (I think there was blood in an earlier ep but shh idc)

EP 3:

- didn’t nishijima start off as a fucking life coach to these kids.  What the fuck he was supposed to help them find a career not emotionally scar them by bloodily dying in front of one of them

- im realizing that the reason hackmon was always in his cloak, in the shadows, standing still is that they cannot animate him in any normal position for the life of him.  I drew him with better anatomy when i was 14 and didn’t have a tablet.  No seriously, look:

I didn’t say it wasn’t bad, you guys are just underestimating how bad the anatomy on this poor creature is.  Why cant ppl draw dracomon or hackmon correctly imma cry

- ordinemon has the best reaction faces

the best part about these two screenshots is that they literally cut one to the other, first the first one to the second one and then it cuts back to the first one.  They were really proud of these stupid ass expressions.

- I started overcoming my dissociation shock from the second episode and my hypercritical mind was analyzing the shit out of everything that happened (it is Not happy) but then evil!gennai called kari and evil goddess and idk if he’s exaggerating to make her feel bad or if she’s literally a fucking god of chaos and destruction and either way im like

she did kinda like.  Watch wizardmon die, watch tai die, watch gatomon get absorbed.  The dark ocean is just a metaphor for depression and honestly if 02 wasn’t all over the fucking place I think Kari would’ve had some pretty decent development in it.  Actually you know what, I’m using that as an angle to approach Tri at now, wish me luck bc i might actually give it more leeway now

- I’m not dissociating but I forgot to say anything again and I already forgot what happened

- I like to imagine that Tai got there like a few minutes ago, but he was like “well damn guess yall figured it out without me.  alright ill just. see if I need to do anything” and then meicoomon was Still Bad so he waited for when she struck just to make the most badass entrance possible.  Fucking extra ass bitch

- I forgot to write anything again but uhhh I wasn’t satisfied so anyways lets just get into the Juicy Details

Originally I was actually planning to be kinder to Tri than I expected.  Was very invested during it.  ‘Round the end of the last ep I realized hmmm no this isn’t working out.  Where are the 02 kids.  You should’ve brought them in to save the day.  That would’ve been SO cool and SO fun.  Fucking cowards.

god I’m kinda tired so I’m going to address a couple things I still had problems with, note that this isn’t everything it’s just everything I felt comfortable yelling about without rewatching past eps.  Like I forgot nishijima was all bloodied and presumably died in the last part until they brought it up and I was like “????” ALSO DID THE LADY WHO WAS HIS PARTNER OR W/E KILL HERSELF WITH THE GUN SHE FOUND, I JUST REALIZED LITERALLY AS I WAS TYPING THIS THAT SHE FOUND A GUN AND THEN I THINK IT CUT TO BLACK AND I’M

DID SHE FUCKING KILL HERSELF WHAT THE FUCK

anyways my problems:

1. They did joe. really dirty.  I’ll write a more proper rant on this sometime later (mostly bc charlie is MUCH better at talking about joe than I am) but basically I can tell you that his character development in the movies squandered his OG character development.  He’s basically an entirely different person.  Like Tri joe isn’t bad, besides being largely neglected (yes he has a whole half a movie to himself, no that doesn’t make up for it all), its just...not OG joe.  He’s a fine character just not the same character, and its NOT fine when you put the two together.

2. THEY DID THE 02 KIDS EVEN DIRTIER IM SO BITTER sorry you nostalgia-blind, money-hungry fucks at bandai, but the 02 cast is PART OF THE ADVENTURES UNIVERSE.  The only people who hate 02 are ones who like the characters but hate the mess of the storyline at the end, or are completely irrational and elitist about their love of the digimon series and would greatly re-evaluate their opinions if they watched the original series and 02 back to back.  They couldn’t even show them in some kind of group montage at the end??? Standing in the background when they call Mei???  Why couldn’t they call mei from a home phone also, but that’s a less important problem idc that much.  It was a cute scene besides the lack of 02 characters.  Whatever.  AND THE PROBLEM IS LIKE kari and tk?  This entire time???  Were like “oh they disappeared. oops” instead of being frantically searching for their lost friends???  Like i get tk and kari probably have fucking ptsd and can’t express any emotions because they watched important people die in front of their eyes at an incredibly young age but also 1. they didn’t address the ramifications of ptsd, so fuck that theory/excuse and 2. THAT??? WOULD ONLY MAKE THEM LOOK HARDER??? and put on a brave face as they look, but inside they’re so scared and so worried.  Not just “oh sweet, they were found/saved, theyre in the hospital but that’s fine” like WHAT theyre fucking assholes if that’s what they’d canonically do lmao.  God I am SO bitter over the ENTIRE thing with the 02 kids, it would’ve been BETTER if they were deleted from the fucking canon entirely.  Would I have still been bitter?  Yes.  But at least I wouldn’t be madder at TK and Kari too.

3. I stand 100% by the notion that Digimon is not and will never be cut out to be an adults’ franchise.  It wasn’t designed for adults, and it can’t be skewered towards adults.  These particular characters were designed for kids to relate to and find entertaining.  They do not work when placed into an adult setting.  Like, can you imagine a character like Ed from FMA going to the Digimon world?  I guess in a way that’s just Marcus but like.  Just imagine the FMA cast in Digimon Adventure.  It doesn’t work.  Digimon Tri is basically that except real.  Also Data Squad was darker than Adventure so my joke doesn’t even work.

I guess my primary point is that Tri isn’t mature enough of a setup for an adult audience.  It puts a focus on being “complex” and “philosophical” instead of working within Digimon’s constraints and making something good and adult out of that.  Like!  Digimon is a fucking TOY COMMERCIAL.  Don’t give me messages about the futility of human life.  I want bad puns and emotional characters.  That’s what Digimon has ALWAYS been, and ideally always will be.  Tri could’ve made itself more mature by dealing with the ramifications of the Digital World’s events, how it affected the kids psychologically and dealing with healing old scars.  It would’ve been a more mature take on a story we loved and would use things we loved about the story already - the fact that it took so much time exploring characters’ emotions and was surprisingly mature for the time - to make itself better.  You need to take the aspects that drew adults to the show and amplify them, not just slap on a complex story and unfunny dialogue and be like “oh this is fine, right?”

It’s not that Digimon can’t exist as an adult property, its just that if it repeats what Tri did, it’s got no merit and in my eyes the franchise is dead.  If it survives I guess I’ll be happy that people can still enjoy it but I find it unsustainable and unsatisfying to fans of the older series.  Tri is just a fuckfest of highly specific nostalgia that tries too hard to appeal to old fans without capturing what made the original series so magical, and in part thats because the original series WASN’T FOR ADULTS.  I don’t know about the Digimon Story games, bc they’re T-rated so perhaps they’re a better take on an adult Digimon story than Tri?  But you either need to make your own characters and lore specifically for an adult-oriented Digimon season, or perish.  Also, please make it a series and not a group of movies.  Getting four eps every 6-9 months was hell.

I stand by saying Appmon is a more faithful Digimon season than Tri to Digimon’s original spirit.  I believe it holds more potential for success than Tri and better embodies the spirit of the older Digimon seasons.  It’s dumb, its corny, it has horrible puns, but I LOVE it because it also has a deep dark story and emotional moments.  If you dislike Tri and you agree with things I said that make it unlikeable, I highly recommend giving Appmon a chance - if you watch a few episodes and think “oh yeah, I guess this is decent” you’re going to like it.  It’s everything Digimon has always been and hopefully always will be, just with a different concept.  And hopefully the end of the series doesn’t leave a sour taste in my mouth and I have to redact this statement haha since I’m not done with it yet, but I’ve heard good things about it so I’m hoping not so.

Overall, if you watch Tri, don’t get your hopes up.  It resolves everything okay-ish but it’s a pretty forgettable anime on its own and simply doesn’t work as part of the Digimon franchise.

I am, however, pretty interested in what evil!gennai said at the end about Diaboromon and Daemon.  It raises interesting questions about the timeline too.  We know Daemon is in the dark ocean, so perhaps that’s a hint at a future project?  (They did confirm a future project btw, in conjunction with tri being over)  But what about Diaboromon?  I dont believe that Our War Game (I think thats what its called?) took place after Tri, based on the outfits and ages and stuff, but I also don’t remember the movies that well.  Could Diaboromon still be out there too?  It’s interesting.

However, because of the lackluster performance of Tri, I don’t have my hopes up and I really hope that this “next project” goes in a different direction.  Although I guess if they include the 02 kids, I’ll be somewhat less salty...

Side note, did they ever explain why the gennais went evil?  Like ?  That’s a pretty important thing.  The gennais helped SAVE the human world in 02.  And I get that apparently Tri is ignoring 02′s ending but still.  It’s shitty, because Gennai was still a good guy in the original too (and also they cant just keep is younger look and act like 02 never happened)  MAYBE its something I missed but I dont think so.  God there’s just.  So much wrong with Tri.  I’m very displeased and very bitter and I wanna get back to Appmon asap.

It’s got good moments, its got bad moments, I dont know, I don’t care.  There’s nothing wrong with you if you like it, there’s nothing wrong with you if you don’t, and there’s nothing wrong with you if you flip flop and are split like me.  I just wish Tri fulfilled its potential instead of becoming a boring mess.
