The first few are my favorites (usually means they made me cry or emotionally impacted me 🧍) but I like all the others I linked here ofc as well! Absolutely one of my most favorite fics ever, I’m not gonna lie. Genuinely so good. I was clutching my phone the entire third act of the fic, absolutely ridden with anxiety. I read for 12 hours straight that third act, during exam season, eyes absolutely bloodshot and had a splitting headache by the end because I was staring at my phone for far too long. It’s so good.

I think my biggest qualm I have with this master class of a fic if I had to say, would probably be the characterization of Klavier? he feels too straight in this I don’t know how else to put it. But honestly it’s so minor I don’t really care and I’ve read this twice (which I never do)

So she was rather surprised to find herself immensely enjoying the steady, familiar relationship she saw between a defense attorney and a prosecutor. It wasn't loud or flashy or wild, but calm and reliable and quiet. Rather than a blazing fire that consumed everything, theirs was an affection like a candle flame, bringing forth light and warmth.

Well, except for when they were in court. Then they were rather more like two overzealous flamethrowers.

An excitable group of girls (and a reluctant Apollo) team up to make Phoenix and Miles realize they're crazy about each other. But are such measures really necessary?

Loved this one. Very good. I loved the side casefic it had and how it affected the main characters as well. I love the everyone ships wrightworth trope so much.

Soooo good! I love the mystery aspect of it all and everyone recounting and slowly piecing together what happened. It’s very sweet too and also kinda nsfw be warned…. also Maya x Rhoda was definitely not what I was expecting tbh

That said, they both probably should've known that Phoenix hadn't been named the Turnabout Terror for nothing.

(Or: what it means to judge solely based on first appearances and then have all of your expectations rocked off-balance, especially when they revolve around one of the most outstanding attorneys the criminal justice system has ever known).

Sooooo cute! This one helped inspire me for my last chapter of my own wrightworth fic actually! This author actually wrote a klapollo long fic I’ve been meaning to check out actually, called The Sound of Silence. I’ve been scared off by how heavy the warnings of the angst ahead are ngl. But this one shot in contrast is very fluffy and sweet!

Loved this one! I really like any fics with Trucy as a bigger character (wow who knew look at all my SNS accounts with trucy pfps) especially ones that delve deeper into her relationship between her and Edgeworth.

Or, an evolution of Wrightworth's relationship through Trucy's eyes. Trucy and co. sees Phoenix and Miles feel that special way that adults feel for each other and tries to matchmake them. It's mostly Trucy doing that, though.

God, is there a klapollo fic rec list without Hot for Justice on it? It’s such a classic, and rightfully so. This fic also inspired me as well to write my next fic! It’s just this good.

This fic is like. A need I go on? Moment. It’s so iconic and good. This along with Legal Partners probably permanently organized my brain chemistry, I think. Good god the angst. The fluff. this fic genuinely made me sob which. A book hasn’t done that to me in a very long time! there’s a scene where Apollo talks about grief and that was very relatable. This fic also does breach the subject of suicidal ideation, but it is brief. In general this is a lighthearted fic!

It’s been a hot minute since I read this one (one of the first klapollo fics I read) but this one was veryyy good. Very much inspired me. Honestly all of Seamint’s stuff is good.

As of writing this right now, I just finished this fic so it’s very fresh in my memory! I really liked it! The way they wrote what would most likely be a realistic depiction of Klapollo if it were to happen in real life. It has all the downs and lows and the highs that you’d expect in a realistic relationship.

I know you won’t post this because it goes against your narrative, but I hope you do.

It’s time for a serious conversation about what’s happening in this fandom. The people who genuinely believe Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton are together—known as “Lukola”—need to take a closer look at the history of fandoms like the Larry Shippers. These were fans who convinced themselves that Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson were secretly in a relationship, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. If you dive into the Larry conspiracies, babygate, and how fans clung to fabricated narratives, you’ll see the same patterns playing out here. It wasn’t healthy then, and it isn’t healthy now. The result? Harry and Louis haven’t been seen together in years. Larry wasn’t real, Freddie is, and that fandom destroyed what was once a visible friendship.

The same thing is happening with Nicola and Luke.

Let’s be honest: Nicola has been very loud without explicitly saying who she’s in a relationship with. And yet, if you’ve been paying attention, it’s obvious—she’s with JD, not Luke. She’s been putting that information out there through actions, pictures, and subtle hints. But instead of acknowledging the truth, some fans go to great lengths to ignore what’s right in front of them. You tell yourselves, “She’s just friends with JD,” “That doesn’t mean anything,” or even “JD is gay; his friends call him princess.” Meanwhile, you cling to tiny crumbs—brief moments with Luke that you inflate into something bigger. At this point, it’s not wishful thinking; it’s willful denial.

And here’s the uncomfortable truth: Nicola isn’t blameless in all this. She’s not the perfect, untouchable person you’ve made her out to be. She knows exactly what she’s doing. By staying vague, she lets fans run wild with their fantasies while carefully dropping just enough hints about her real relationship to maintain plausible deniability. This is gaslighting. She’s playing both sides, benefiting from the attention and adoration of fans who want her with Luke while still being public enough about her relationship with JD to avoid outright lying. This isn’t just frustrating—it’s damaging, both to the fandom and to the relationships you claim to support.

Look at what happened with Harry and Louis. The obsessive shipping culture made it impossible for people to appreciate their friendship for what it was. Fans pushed so hard that now they’re hardly ever seen together. The same thing could happen here. The more you push Nicola and Luke as a couple, the harder it will be to just enjoy their friendship—or anything they might share publicly in the future.

At some point, you have to ask yourselves: Why are you okay with this? Why are you settling for crumbs? Why inflate a ring or a fleeting moment into an entire narrative? And if Nicola were posting pictures with Luke or being photographed with him more often, would that be the confirmation you’re desperate for? What happens when Nicola gets engaged—or has a child? (She’s closer to 40 now; watch it happen.) Are you still going to cling to these crumbs and invent excuses to deny the obvious?

This fandom is starting to mirror an unhealthy, even abusive dynamic. You’re holding onto a fantasy while ignoring the reality Nicola is presenting. It’s time to step back and see this for what it is. Living in a world of denial isn’t good for you—or for the people you claim to support. Stop settling for crumbs. Stop ignoring the truth. Start expecting better—for yourselves, and for this fandom.

To be clear, I don't NOT post asks that go against my narrative but a lot of asks I get like this are half-assed uncooked, unseasoned chicken compared to a well planned out post like this.

But I absolutely disagree with everything you're saying.

It also depends on how YOU are personally perceiving the fandom and fandom spaces like this. It's likely this kind of speculation makes YOU personally uncomfortable, and if that's the case anon, maybe YOU shouldn't be going on to shipper's pages and dropping your opinion to let us know how bothered YOU are by these things.

If you really want to look at harmful behavior, let's talk about the Jakola shipper that showed up to the theatre in NYC and followed Nic and Jake down the street to get proof of their "relationship".

THAT is dangerous.

People like me on the internet, speculating about these things aren't harming anyone. We're talking and theorizing amongst ourselves in a relatively quiet part of the internet. We're not showing up at locations to prove their together.

We're not actively following these people around London or visiting their apartment buildings or homes to prove we're right.

She's definitely calling out the Wenclair and Jemmas.

She also frames her acknowledgement of Wenclair as a joke, meaning she never took the ship seriously, nor do I think the writer's ever meant for it to be.

She was surprised "that side" of the fandom got so big and intense because she never meant her characterization for Enid and Wednesday's relationship to come off as romantic.

She certainly wasn't prepared for people to mistake her onscreen, platonic chemistry with Jenna as romantic in real life, and just how much the "fans" would sexually harass her by shoving Wenclair and Jemma in her face.

I think the Wenclairs and Jemmas should take this a sign to start backing off. Keep it in fandom spaces and stop clogging up their social media of "where's Jenna/Emma?" and remarking about how they are definitely lesbians when they have said no such thing. Like let them have their moment outside of Wednesday and stop projecting fanfiction into real life people.

This article is a nice PR way of saying the fandom has gone too far, but eventually Jenna and Emma will get sick of it to the point of being snide and short with fans.

I think their friendship has cooled because of the Wenclair and Jemmas, and if they keep going then they'll totally ruin it like the Gaylors ruined Taylor and Karlie's friendship. Like the Larries ruined Louis and Harry's friendship.

If social media is the bellwether of relationships, then is Jenna and Emma's lack of content together since filming Wednesday S2 saying something?

"Ship who you want" includes Wyler, Wenvier, Enjax and all the potential combinations from Wednesday. Notice how she's not implying or outright accusing anyone who ships anything other than Wenclair as homophobic.

Hey i want to preface by saying that im a new army and therefore fairly new to the jikook community. It started from watching videos about the 'jimin effect' where I noticed that something was different about the way jk was compared to other members. Then it went to me watching jikook complete timelines and here I am now being absolutely in love with their bond :))

But since this is the very first time im shipping a gay celebrity couple i remembered another gay ship which was extremely popular years ago anf that is larry. Although i was never a directioner, i had watched these larry videos and analysis out of curiosity and found their excessive flirting just unrealistic and never found it romantic, especially considering how deranged the fandom was and later on how harry and louis both were in confirmed relationships.

This got me thinking. What is it about jikook that made me think it was romantic ? Cause a lot of larry moments are also very obviously gay and sexual if you watch it, even quite romantic and confusing but i still never thought of them in that way.....but with jikook i feel like a third wheel or get butterflies in my stomach on watching their moments which arent even all that obvious. So, with this essay (sorrryyy) my question is what is it about jikook/kookmin which makes it stand out from other possible popular gay ships like larry, taekook, etc ? Secondly, I think you've answered your own question. Jikook just feels different. When you see Jikook interacting or observe the dynamics between them, it evokes stronger and distinct feelings. It's a bit complicated to explain. I believe every Jikooker has a different explanation, a unique reason for why they think the relationship between Jimin and Jungkook goes beyond mere friendship. Overthinking: Welcome to Camp Nightmare

Welcome to Camp Nightmare is the 9th Goosebumps book in the classic series, released in the summer of 1993. It's also one of the first I read and an all-time favorite from my childhood. I remember seeing it at a grocery store (remember when grocery stores sold books?) and begging my mom to add it to the cart. I remember bringing it with me to read in the tent the first time I went to a sleepaway camp.

I also remember hating the ending.

Of all the books I've read so far for this Goosebumps re-read, this is one I was nervous about revisiting. What if it was disappointing after all this time? Well, I'm happy to report that I still really enjoyed this one...and maybe I'm warming up to the ending, after all.

First, the Plot:

We meet our narrator, Billy, on the bus to Camp Nightmoon, an all-boys summer camp (with a sister camp across the lake for the girls). The bus is filled with a bunch of rowdy, excited kids, including rough-housing Jay and Colin, the girls Dawn and Dory, and the nervous Mike.

The bus pulls off to a platform in the middle of nowhere and leaves the kids there, disembarking for parts unknown, and we're thrust immediately into action. A number of unusual, vicious-seeming weasel creatures approach the platform, and the kids are coming up with a plan to ward them off when help appears in the form of "Uncle Al," the camp leader, and his posse of counselors.

The girls are shipped away to their side of the lake, and the boys are assigned their bunks. Each cabin come with its own counselor, and Billy (who is bunking with Jay, Colin, and Mike) gets Larry, who's kind of a breezy disaffected douche from the moment we meet him.

Camp Nightmoon swiftly earns its name of Camp Nightmare, because bad things start happening as soon as they arrive. Mike's bed has snakes in it, which bite him before Billy is able to wrap them in a sheet and chuck them outside. Mike's hand swells, but he just has to put a bandaid on it and ignore it because there is no nurse on staff. There's a "forbidden bunk" that you're not supposed to approach, and some creature named Saber who lurks around outside. Kids are instructed what to do when a bear attacks, which apparently happens with alarming frequency.

During a game of "scratchball" (which is like baseball, but weird), Larry and Colin have a beef and Larry hits him with a hard pitch to the back of the head, which sends Colin reeling. Larry insists it was an accident, but Billy's not so sure.

Jay and a kid named Roger go to investigate the forbidden bunk, and Jay comes back screaming that some kind of creature came and ripped Roger apart. But nobody else seems to have heard or seen anything, and the counselors insist that there's no record of anyone named Roger ever being here.

Later, Mike and Colin also go missing, replaced with two new bunkmates, and nobody can explain to Billy where they've gone. He tries to call home but the phone is a fake prop phone. He discovers that the letters he wrote home are all sitting unopened and undelivered in a sack. And he even gets a frightened message from Dawn and Dory, who have snuck across the lake to tell him that bad things are happening in the girl's camp, too.

Before Billy can act on that info, though, he's sent on a special canoe trip with his new bunkmates and Larry...who falls overboard and has to be rescued. Billy drags him back ashore and they find their way home, but there's no sign of the missing new bunkmates, and Uncle Al doesn't seem overly concerned about finding them, though he IS mad about the lost canoe.

He's ALSO big mad about escaped campers from the girl's camp. Dawn and Dory have escaped and are hiding in the woods, and Uncle Al seeks to solve this problem by handing out (tranquilizer) guns to every boy in camp and instructing them to go hunt them down. This is the last straw for Billy, who refuses and turns his gun on Uncle Al. Al threatens him, but he holds firm, even pulling the trigger...

...and then Al starts to laugh, and congratulates him for passing the test.

People step out of the woods - all the missing campers. Everyone is smiling and congratulatory. Even Billy's parents show up! They are all so proud of him. Dazed, Billy asks what is going on, and it's revealed that his parents (who we already knew were scientists) are going on a very dangerous mission and wanted him to come with them, but first he had to pass a test at a government facility. So everything that's happened at camp has been a simulation designed to test him, all the campers are actors, and he's passed with flying colors! Good job, Billy.

One last question, though. Where are they headed?

Oh, just a very dangerous little planet called "earth"...

Overthinking It:

As Goosebumps twists go, the ending of Welcome to Camp Nightmare is honestly better telegraphed than most. He plays fair all the way through. You know from the first chapter that Billy's parents are scientists who go exploring. There are ample hints that the story doesn't take place on earth - the "yellow sky and red earth" in the opening paragraph, the weird weasel creatures, the mention of cities that don't exist, the existence of scratchball. You hear about "prairie cats" and "prairie wolves" and see trees with gray bark and a purple sky and you think, sure, Stine is just being poetic here. But no.

And it's honestly also pretty clear that it's all a setup. It's a little too convenient that Billy is at the center of EVERYTHING that happens, isn't it? It really shouldn't be all that shocking that this whole thing was a test.

And yet.

I don't remember whether this was my first rug-pull ending I encountered in a book. But I remember finding it achingly unfair. This book was setting up some REALLY scary, dangerous stuff with real stakes! Here was a book where somebody was RIPPED APART BY A MONSTER! But, no, none of it was real, and the betrayal of that stung as a reader, much as I suspect it must sting for poor, traumatized Billy.

Incidentally, Billy is a great protagonist. A lot of Goosebumps narrators are kind of passive (like in Let's Get Invisible) or actively kind of shitty people (like in The Girl Who Cried Monster) but Billy is proactive, heroic, kind, and just all-around a good person.

Which is, of course, the point.

Time and again he's confronted with challenges and proves his mettle. He takes a leadership role, protects his fellow campers, even puts his life on the line to rescue Larry despite Larry being shitty to him throughout the entire book. And then, of course, he stands up to Uncle Al, because Billy knows right from wrong.

R.L. Stine once famously joked that he wrote Goosebumps specifically to write kid's books with no moral message. And I think that is actually broadly true. But Welcome to Camp Nightmare actually does have some instructional value, I think. It's a book that teaches kids about bravery -- when to follow orders, and when to disobey them. More than that, it is ultimately a book about authority, and the moral imperative to stand up to corruption.

John Wolfe is actually currently doing a Goosebumps reread, and I really liked his analysis of Welcome to Camp Nightmare so I'll link that here.

John makes a great case for Welcome to Camp Nightmare as a study of toxic masculinity and I think he does it really well so I won't restate that case. But it's worth a watch.

What strikes me about Goosebumps as we proceed through the series is how often these books are about gaslighting. Which does make sense. Part of being a kid is having your experiences dismissed and disbelieved. And these books, time and again, do a great job of capturing the horror of being completely at the mercy of adults -- adults who are clueless, who are malevolent, who are secretly monsters.

Stine may not have wanted a moral message in his books, but "Adults might want to harm you, and you'll need to stand up to them to protect others" is a pretty damn good lesson to take to heart, even (especially?) 30 years later.

If You Liked This, THESE Will Really Give You Goosebumps:

The "we're not actually on earth" twist ending is, of course, one familiar to Twilight Zone fans, specifically the episode "Third From the Sun" based on a Richard Matheson story. The actual plot is quite different - it's about a world destroying itself with nuclear war before fleeing to a new planet (ie, earth) - but it's a classic.

John Wolfe made this recommendation first and I think he's spot on: M. Night Shyamalan's The Village has a ton in common with Camp Nightmare, from the twist ending to the monster manufactured to demand compliance from people who don't know what's going on.

Summer camp is, of course, a frequent setting for horror movies, thanks to the Friday the 13th franchise and Sleepaway Camp, which has the added bonus of also being a study of masculinity and untrustworthy adults....sort of.

Repeatedly while reading, I was reminded of Child's Play 3, wherein a teenage Andy goes to a military camp and must face-off against toxic authority figures while protecting younger campers from Chucky. This time, when you go to hunt your fellow campers with guns, you do so with live ammunition!

I'm struggling to think of more examples, but I'm sure there are some. If any of y'all have recommendations for other stuff to watch to cash in on the excellent Welcome to Camp Nightmare vibe, hit me int he comments/reblogs!

Rating all Trent ships I've ever came across

Trent×Gwen - The only canon ship and for what it was, I liked it. It always felt like just a summer fling and them being each others manic pixie dream girl/boy is a detail I highly appreciate. It was the most artsy teen romance of all TD ships and should stay as only that 7.5/10 cause it does make me cringe nowadays

Trent×Justin - I don't know who was the first person to come up with this ship but holy shit their brain. And even if you're too good to fall for the trope of "two guys amicably standing next to each other", these two would be the Larry of the TDverse, which you have to at least admit it's funny as shit 10/10

Trent×Duncan - Listen. I've also been a 15 year old girl, I get it, but this is shit. They either forget about each others existence or actively hate each other. Even the fanfics I used to read back then had to jump through hoops or make them ooc to even get them to stay amicably in the same room 0/10

Trent×Geoff - The better version of Duntrent. They still ignore/hate eachother but there's literally no reason for it which is so funny. They're both pieces of shit and the only time it was justified was when Geoff was trying to protect Gwen over the breakup. Read the TDA bios, they're still trying to poke at some rivalry we never see on screen. AU writers I beg of you, write a enemys-to-enemys fic of their fighting backstage 3/10

Trent×Leshawna - I was really surprised when I first saw this ship cause I'd only ever seen them as sort of "friends-in-law"? But now that I sit down and think of it, it could work?? Leshawna is assertive but also laid back, kind and has a lot of goofy moments. And Trent is a certified wife guy™. I'd never thought of this ship myself but it could work 9.4/10

Trent×Noah - Once again, would have never thought of this if I hadn't read one of the best ship-centered fanfics this fandom has to offer. But I think it works better in that specific fanfic than realistically speaking. Trent isn't the exact type of pathetic (positive) Noah hangs out with and in the long run they'd both be too messy. If Gwent is the cuter side of teen romance, Trent×Noah would be the depressing side. I never watched the show, but from what I remember from "2015 grunge tumblr", it's giving Skins vibes 4.8/10

I get the suspicion around Larry sometimes, but at the same time, alot of stuff out there debunks alot of Larries theories they are hell bent on sticking too. Like the whole marriage thing on the 28th. Yes, I get Louis has an obsession with 28 and there was some twitter jokes from their friends and family on the 28th joking about marriage, but never once did they say it was about Larry specifically. They were also in Australia that day where same sex marriage was def not legal. Also seeing videos from that concert day, Louis was sick and lost his voice & that was also in them tweets, but he and harry barely interacted during those concerts. Not really a good way to spend a honeymoon/wedding day, pretending to not be friends. lol The other thing is the bandana theory. Why do they say its confirmed he wears the blue bandana for Louis or the peace ring for Louis? Where is the proof Louis bought him the peace ring (or Zayn for that matter cause Zarries use it as their proof too). Did I miss where Harry said Louis got him the peace ring? I'm genuinely curious. I know about the bandana project, but the two things could be totally unrelated, yet they tell it as if its confirmed. And if the peace ring meant that much to harry and was basically his wedding ring, why wear it once in a blue moon? Also Harry never acknowledges 28, so is it one sided marriage?

Hiii. Breaking up my reblogs with a slightly older piece that will probably get very few likes because this pairing is rare. Rather than diamonds, probably. But yes I am a Hassel x Larry TRUTHER (obviously no hate towards other pairings, I for one am also a huge fan of @/OkeanosGraphics on Twitter's selfship and generally vibe with Hassel x Brassius) so I need to spread the good word. Even if this piece isn't obviously ship or anything. It's ship TO ME.

Anyways. This is just inkwork with the sketch layer not erased, I have no plans to finish this and fully render it. It's also a bit on the older side but who gaf. Peace and love on planet earth. Lawriecolt headcanons pls? 👀

•Lawrie’s the type of guy to deny that he likes Colt and even admit that he hates him but cannot spend a single day and every second where he doesn’t think of that pretty man and kissing his lips. Lawrie beats himself up for this.

•Lawrie gets easily nervous just by the slightest mention of Colt so everytime he sees Colt, he turns red. And Colt finds that really funny not like ‘aww he’s adorable!! ^^ teehee!’ no, it’s more like ‘hah he looks really goofy’. Bonus Lawrie tries to play it cool and it may or may not work BECUASE he doesn’t want Colt to tease him.

•Lawrie STARES like I truly mean it, whenever he sees that man. He will be quick to look and relish his beauty even though he despises it.

•Colt’s good luck, charisma, and gun tricks definitely caught Lawrie’s attention and that was probably how this rabbit hole started. It was probably a small encounter but he fell in love at first sight.

•Could I confess that Lawrie first probably brushed the thought of Colt before he started to think of him almost everyday and that turned into hatred before falling in love? UGHH HES SUCH A LOSER!!!!!!! LOSER ALERT!!!!!

•COLT IS SUCH A BABY UGHHHH!!! CAN YOU IMAGINE LIKE WHEN LAWRIE WAS REALLY ANGRY AND WAS ABOUT TO LIKE SNAP COLT IN HALF BUT THEN SEE HOW PATHETIC HE IS, LAWRIE STOPS ENTIRELY AND HE LIKE GETS SO FLUSTERED BECAUSE HE NEVER SAW COLT LIKE VULNERABLE AND WHINY OR SOMETHING LIKE THOSE!! •Colt is an absolute drama queen when he gets one small cut on his face, Lawrie is annoyed by it everytime whenever he hears Colt complain but that small cut doesn’t change his perspective on him.

•Lawrie may never admit but he respects Colt, I mean their jobs are similar. Colts a sheriff and he’s a cop and they basically get bad guys. I do think Colt takes his job somewhat seriously and doesn’t goof off. So Lawrie may regard him for his job but not his personality.

•IMAGINE IF LIKE ONE DAY COLT CONCENTRATES ON HIS JOB LIKE FULL ON SERIOUS MODE AND IT FEELS LIKE THOSE ACTION MOVIES WHERE THE PROTAGONIST PARTNER UP TOGETHER AND ITS SUPER ROMANTIC FOR LAWRIE!!! LAWRIE WOULD STARE AT COLT AND WOULD LIKE HATEFULLY ADMIRE HIM!!

•Oh Lawrie hates Colt’s personality but at the same time, he gets butterflies from him! That charming smile, that little laugh whenever he’s proud of himself, that makes Lawrie go crazy!!!

•I could see like Colt teasing Lawrie whenever he does something better and that causes Lawrie to immediately go angry and red. He wants to rip that man to shreds in a loving way!!! But also in a non loving way.. Colt is definitely the one to push Lawrie’s buttons.

•Larry, sigh… he’s the victim of Lawrie’s rants.. he tries to reassure Lawrie that he’s going to be fine and such but he just has to witness his brother go in a love and hate relationship with the sheriff.

•Lawrie grits his teeth and it looks like he’s mad but he’s not. He’s just mad flustered because the very thought of Colt had appeared in his mind.

•Whenever Lawrie blurts out a compliment by accident, Colt will look at him and says something along the lines “hehe, I know right?” with a smirk.

•It will be both interesting and sad if their love is one sided. Like Lawrie is obsessed with Colt and truly loves him but Colt doesn’t mind or notice and just say that he’s a silly guy. UGHHHHH like Colt probably think Lawrie is just a somewhat decent guy to hang out with instead of having an actual crush on him…. GRRRR

Adding onto the point you made about rpf and I just wanna mention the video that Mercedes released of George reacting to his 'meme' scenes and imo you can clearly tell that at one point he was just so uncomfortable? And how that is not okay because at the end of the day thay are the ones providing the content and if they all are made to feel like that, than i wouldn't be suprised if they just stopped sharing personal stuff?

i checked this video out after seeing this ask and it was certainly just... a choice to have him react to one girl's extended tiktok that was just thirsting over his photoshoot. like it wasn't actually a "meme" there was no real humour to it there was nothing for him to really say about it (which i think at least partially contributes to his awkwardness in that section)... like the person who made that tiktok is in the comments and she's chill about it seemingly but it's such a weird decision. i know "celebrities read thirst tweets" has been a thing for years but that's normally quick, snappy, slightly absurd statements that actually are funny enough to get a reaction, plus they usually blur out the author's handle & photo and often their display name too. to just make you look at one young woman's actual face and listen to her actual voice for a minute straight as she talks (fairly blandly, no offence to this woman, she was just trying to generically thirst in peace i presume) about how good you look in a photoshoot is just... so strange and i can't figure out what the person who planned that video thought the appeal of that section would be or what george would possibly have to say about it?

imo that definitely comes into the same category as admins using ship names etc in that they're taking things that are definitely intended for intra-community conversation and, because in the current age of social media (and especially on hyper-algorithmic platforms like tiktok) fan spaces and official spaces are exactly the same thing, decide that they can get more attention from the younger fangirl [theoretically gender neutral, though i'd guarantee marketing teams aren't viewing it that way] demographic by acknowledging them and leaning into the lack of separation between church and state (blorbocedes, 2023).

then people who are new to fandom & don't know the etiquette, especially in rpf fandoms, think - quite understandably, if this is the way admins are acting - oh cool, well in that case it's okay and normal for me to talk about ships/thirst/my y/n fantasies to the drivers and teams, and if that gets engagement the admins will continue blurring those lines and pandering to the shipper demographic as far as they can without actually getting into inappropriate territory, and this will make the existence of the rpf side of f1 fandom even more noticeable & something of a curiosity attraction to other types of fan. and as has already been discussed all this almost certainly won't lead to a "George and Lewis Read Your Fanfictions" video posted by mercedes-amg petronas f1 team's official youtube channel. but it could more realistically lead to one of like lando or max's mates namedropping everything changes or whatever in a twitch stream as a gag. which, i must stress, we also do not want

really tl;dr i guess it's. as people have been saying, a lot of the drivers are probably aware that rpf (slash fics or x reader) exists. we live in a post-larry world after all. but that does not mean they need to be privy to the details or have it shoved in their faces or have open discussion around it encouraged by their own social media teams

How Suzaku ended up being very validated at the end of season one

Today it's time to break a spear for Suzaku. The truth is, I feel safe talking about Suzaku in this space, despite the considerable number of haters he has; but I see that most publications about him focus on his ship with Lelouch and I think they lose sight of his role in the story and his narrative arc, which is a shame since I sincerely think he is one of the best characters in the series and anime in general.

What will we talk about today specifically? We are going to elucidate Suzaku's mentality and in the process we will discover that, contrary to what most fanboys think, he has his fair share of points in his arguments. Even the series grants it.

To start, keep in mind that Japan is one of the areas that has shown the greatest resistance against Britannia since Suzaku forced his country's surrender by murdering his father (which is partly why he in the present doubt whether he did the right thing at the time). That's why Britannia is tougher on Japan than any other area, from Suzaku's point of view.

Suzaku believes that resisting and fighting for freedom is not worth it because it will only cause more innocents to die and Britannia to increase its retaliation against Japan and make life more difficult for them. And the series has been responsible for proving Suzaku right in that regard. At first, the terrorists stole "poisonous gas" and the viceroy ordered an entire ghetto to be exterminated in response. Then the leader of the terrorists defeated an incompetent general and killed the viceroy, who was one of the emperor's many sons, and Britannia responded by sending its best general accompanied by its most advanced military unit (excluding the Knights of the Round) to to resolve the matter, thus drawing a huge target on Japan. If Britannia gets this far after a small-time terrorist achieved a simple victory, what will he do next if he actually starts winning? Annihilate every last Japanese? That's what Suzaku fears and knows will happen.

He lived through Britain's invasion of Japan, saw what the empire did to his country, and realized that Britain has only gotten stronger since the war and that Japan has only gotten weaker. Hence Suzaku works within the system. He wants a free Japan. But he believes that Japan will never defeat Britannia militarily (it doesn't matter if he fights on the side of the empire or not: the enemy is a very advanced military and technological superpower), so he looks for another alternative in Britannia, one that involves less spillage of blood, and finds it in Euphemia. Larry, you can judge Suzaku as a coward who gives up before fighting, just like Kallen and Lelouch do. But, if you ask me, this is the mentality of a victim of abuse and therefore a person traumatized by war (someone who lives in fear).

It's for this reason that Suzaku has no faith in Zero. His entire rebellion is based on the fact that he will win. We, the viewers, know that he will do it eventually because he is the f*cking protagonist, but Suzaku doesn't know that. No one in the Code Geass universe knows.

The thing is, Zero's existence, his overflowing charisma, and his eloquent speeches inspire rebellion. Zero is the reason why Britannia has an iron fist in Japan and why there are many Japanese who continue to fight. And Suzaku can't see how dying pointlessly in a fruitless battle and letting innocent civilians get caught up in Britannia's wrath will win freedom for Japan.

In the end, all Japanese people, whether pro-Zero or not, will pay the price for the terrorists, who are not only wasting their own lives, but are also actively getting the people they are trying to protect killed, and herein lies Suzaku's biggest problem with Zero. He doesn't seem to care about anyone or anything other than his own goals and the battle of Narita proved Suzaku right (again). The entire city was wiped out by Zero and the Guren Mk II. Zero had no regard for the lives of civilians because he was only focused on who he was fighting. Even as Lelouch became aware of his actions, he reaffirmed his determination by blowing up the ship with the remaining members of the Japanese Liberation Front, people who were supposedly allies of Zero and his Black Knights. The subsequent Black Rebellion, which was a consequence of the massacre of the Administrative Zone of Japan, ends up completely validating Suzaku:

Ultimately, Zero caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people on both sides, Area 11 was demoted to a "correctional area", and oppression against the Japanese became much worse than it already was.

Zero's return only heralded new problems for Japan. For Zero was already the reason why Japan's bloodless path to peace is no longer possible (from Suzaku's point of view). That's why Zero needed to die. With him dead, the resistance would be crushed and his people, although oppressed, would finally stop being decimated by Britannia around the clock. The ghettos would be quiet and military units would stop shooting in those places. It wouldn't be perfect, but at least they would be alive and there we extract another of Suzaku's beliefs: "it is better to live suffering than to die in vain." Either way, Suzaku was working to ascend to Knight of One to ask for the release of his people.

Do I mean then that Japan should have bowed its head and accepted tyranny? No and the series doesn't tell you that either. Suzaku was wrong about certain things too, just as Lelouch was. The point of the post is to take Suzaku seriously, understand why he fights Zero, and reevaluate his arguments to shed light on the positive points (because yes, he has them). The series is not about who is right and who is wrong (and if you believed that, you got it all wrong). It's about two characters who challenge each other's perspectives, learn from each other, recognize their mistakes and find a solution together for a common goal. And they grow from it.
