Hiii. Breaking up my reblogs with a slightly older piece that will probably get very few likes because this pairing is rare. Rather than diamonds, probably. But yes I am a Hassel x Larry TRUTHER (obviously no hate towards other pairings, I for one am also a huge fan of @/OkeanosGraphics on Twitter's selfship and generally vibe with Hassel x Brassius) so I need to spread the good word. Even if this piece isn't obviously ship or anything. It's ship TO ME.

Anyways. This is just inkwork with the sketch layer not erased, I have no plans to finish this and fully render it. It's also a bit on the older side but who gaf. Peace and love on planet earth. You'll have to drag him away from his work otherwise he will just be hunched over painting the whole day instead of taking breaks to eat and hydrate. Is also a bit stubborn when it comes to taking a break, but if he sees that you're getting upset or frustrated then he'll put his paint brush down.

Constantly watching you. When you two are on dates or just doing something like grocery shopping together, his eyes are watching your every movement. You're his muse and he doesn't want to miss seeing something that can spark his inspiration.

Likes to go to museums with you. Museum dates are something he always likes. And when he travels due to Gym Leader business, he's sure to take you with (if you want to, it's fine if you don't), but he's going to show you other museums in other locations.

Grusha

Wants to go snowboarding with you a lot. He's unable to do it professionally due to his injury, but he's happy to go on a date where he snowboards with you. There're some bittersweet moments with him while snowboarding, but he assures you that he is very happy to have these moments with you.

Grusha tries to seem like he has things together when he's with you. He's actually rather stressed out, but he doesn't like you seeing that side of him. Pull aside and hug him and he'll give the deepest sigh of relief because he really needed the hug.

Not the most emotional person. His scarf hides his face, so you really only have his eyes to tell you how he's feeling. But even with his emotions not really on his sleeves, he always gives you the softest looks.

Hassel

Lots of soft music playing throughout his house. Or even when you visit his classroom at the school, there's some soft music in the background. Even though he didn't go into music, he still very much loves it still.

Remembers lots of things about you too. Knows exactly what drinks you like and how you like to eat certain foods. Anytime he notices you're a bit stress or anxious, he's there with a comfort item he remembers you mentioning.

You get to witness his grumbling when he's doing schoolwork and he ends up smearing ink or pencil on his hand because he's left-handed. Just little pouts on his face because he thought he was careful this time. It's very adorable.

Larry

He is so tired and overworked all the time. And he's not going to hide his tired appearance from you. He won't complain (too much) in front of you, but he's not going to try and seem like he has his crap together in front of you all the time.

Real big on staying home and hanging out. He doesn't mind if you want to go out and do something, but he prefers staying home and relaxing. Doesn't mind doing typical house husband stuff either. Yeah, he worked all day, but he doesn't mind male wife-ing it up for you.

Either falls asleep too easily or cannot sleep no matter what. If you two are watching TV or something, then he'll end up falling asleep halfway through. But when it comes to actually laying down in bed, he is awake. His body is tired, but his mind is awake as he just holds you close and let's his eyes rest at least.

He thinks he's very subtle, but it's quite obvious in all actuality. Clavell is a fool for you, doing his best to "casually" insert himself into your sphere for the chance to talk with you. He loves having you to himself, talking together as friends instead of coworkers (should you be a fellow teacher), so he tries to arrange such a thing as often as he can. What you don't know is that Hassel does all of this even when you're not around, alerting everyone to how deep he's fallen for you

Larry is the most subtle in his affections. It's hard to tell he's in love, but if you look close, you can see. His coworkers for sure can see the soft flush that lights his cheeks whenever you're around. His eyes never leave you when you talk to him, looking brighter than they have all week, though his face doesn't change. He listens carefully to you, and always invites you to spend lunch with him if you're free. He always buys your meals as well, having them put on his tab.

Larry doesn't daydream about you, per se, but he does make plans in his head. He thinks about what he would need to do when taking you on a date, reservations to make and picking a time when the weather is hopefully nice. He imagines you living together, and debates to himself the pros and cons of either of your apartments, versus just buying a house. What would a house need? Insurance, of course, and furniture. He'll need to understand your tastes more, and look at what you have that could be conceivably kept from your place and his. . .

Larry x Kabu (AoKabu, Blueturnipshipping) headcanons/rambles who cheered!!

- the name 'blueturnipshipping' is being coined by me!!! If there is another wildly used name I would like to know, but my reason for choosing that ship name is because when combined, Ao and Kabu translates to 'blue turnip' (at least, when using machine translation. If it translates differently I would like to know!!!!)

- Kabu, especially in his youth, was seen as quite attractive due to his physical fitness and general attitude on the battlefield. Paired with being a celebrity he was likely sought after frequently. He mentions it very rarely in passing but isn't something he likes to bring up, both from general politeness/being humble and also because a good chunk of those pursuing him were parasocial due to his status. It happens a lot less now due to his age, since he doesn't use social media he doesn't see how there are some people online who make negative comments about him being past his prime. Even so he still has that latent feeling of having peaked, stemming from his previous stumbling in his career as a gym leader.

- Larry probably hasn't experienced being desired in the same capacity as Kabu. Being a gym leader and elite four member doesn't get you much prestige in Paldea due to having less money within the League and a lack of celebrity culture in Paldea for the league. The only exceptions to this are people who are famous for things outside of their position as a gym leader, like Iono with her streaming career. As this is something Larry doesn't have, he isn't on nearly as wide a stage. He's also not particularly 'handsome' in the sense that he isn't well built or looks like a model, so while he has had experience dating and being sought after it's generally not very common and definitely became rarer as he got older. Thats partially because of him being extremely busy as well, not just from his age/looks.

- Kabu is extremely outwardly passionate about battling, something that Larry admires and partially envies. Larry also has a passion for it- he wouldn't be a double member of the League otherwise- but due to working two positions and having an office job he's worn thin and has lost that 'spark' that made him really enjoy battling in the first place. Kabu reignites that in him.

- Kabu greatly appreciates Larry's ability to ignore how others think about him. Kabu isn't self conscious per se, but you do end up taking on some level of concern about your appearance/attitude/actions/etc when you're a celebrity and scrutinized 24/7.

- Kabu is canonically from Hoenn and I headcanon Larry as being from Johto due to his Dudunsparce + how heavily based on the Japanese salaryman stereotype he is. Because of this they both bond over a shared appreciation for the similarities in their cuisine (I headcanon that hoenn has a heavier focus on seafood due to having a lot of ocean nearby, and the Kanto/Johto areas are more agriculture focused. However they are both based on Japan so there is overlap)

- Kabu is more prone to grand gestures of love. Think impressive dinners, big bouquets, if he's making you a meal it's going to be a full course meal. That sort of thing. His 'always do your best' attitude carries over into his love life, though he does try to tone it down as Larry can sometimes be overwhelmed by it.

- Larry, conversely, shows his love in smaller ways. He sees something at the store while buying groceries he thinks Kabu would like and gets it, and doesn't really say much about it. Sending texts on his break that are just simple reminders that he loves Kabu. They balance each other out.

- both of them are a little surprised to learn they like each other back. Larry because he views Kabu as completely out of his league, and Kabu because he would have thought his more fiery personality wouldn't have meshed very well with Larry's more muted one. Kabu has had experience in the past with having lovers originally fully enjoy how passionate it is before they got tired of it and found it overbearing; Larry is just always a bit surprised people actually like him outside of him being a generally fine coworker since he's constantly hearing from others that he's boring and not very fun.

Makes sketches of you when he gets the chance

He keeps talking about you to Brassius

He wants to give you an Applin but honestly he can't decide if he wants you to understand it or not

I think there would be 2 scenarios of his confession (if you were to not figure it out yourself)

The first one is he one day just can't handle it and blurbs it out

Second one is Brassius gets tired of watching him struggle and just walks up to you and tells you about it

Pretty much no one was shocked it was pretty visible

I think he'd be pretty straight forward about it

Also takes it very calmly it you reject him

Definitely gives you and Applin of you're Galarian

He winds up making a few statues that make him think of you

Some of them might actually he of you but most of them are just things and abstractions that make him think of you

- As the very emotional art teacher of the academy it’s not a surprise he’s quite affectionate towards his lover.

- Hassel understands the feeling of how it can be to not receive forms of affection with running away from his own family and taking over his own path instead of being guided by others.

- Though that doesn’t really stop him though from being a tad bit more on the touchy side. Be it for his dear love it starts out with gently little headpats.

- The second you even hold his hand or brush against him even if it’s a piece of clothing he’s full on sobbing. I mean this man doesn’t cry pretty - what could be a real mess. Tissues are a need.

- Very gentle forms of affection and it starts with flower crown making! He holds your hands in his own showing you how to entwine them together.

- First Anniversary Gift: a Applin!

- The art teacher took forever to find one that was very special. This Applin does have a sweet apple so if one day when or if it wants to evolve it’ll be there.

- As a busy man unfortunately time with you can be a bit short. Though he’s always shown his affection in different ways. Be it wrapping an arm around his dear lover’s waist or hooking your arms and hands together.

- He may be a bit way to forward at first along with the way he kisses- it’s heavy and deep with little sense of shyness.

- The gym leader couldn’t help it the first time you brought up evening getting into a relationship, his hugs are rather strong and yet all the same warm.

- Seeing his new love get shocked though and almost on the verge of tears from the sudden show of affection he’s quite on the edge.

- “My sweet Rose what’s wrong? Oh- you want to keep hugging me. Heh. That’s fine with me..how about we sit down and I can show you how to spin clay tonight..”

- Brassius knows how it is to feel not recognized in the sea of people that exist so he’ll be your new dark knight.

- Taking care of the surrounding area of the gym and the garden is one of those. The surrounding Pokémon are very loving but his Sudowoodo also seems to have the same touch starved problem it took years before it even evolved from a Bonsly!

First Anniversary Gift: a Deerling!

- The gym leader knows this Pokémon looks quite sweet and adorable but it’s strong on its own or in a herd.

- Knows how to take time and won’t push you, his kisses mostly start with butterfly kisses only but a tad surprised when you’re the one to start the display of affection.

- Absolutely loves this though means you’re taking your own steps forward.

- Will take off his jacket and he’s done some research with his lover’s condition. If you ask why? He’s just going to say that he’s working with clay.

“Sweet Rose, shall we head to the gardens? Ah my change of clothes- it’s not much I know you’re used to seeing me in my work clothes but the sun is quite warm today. - This man also has quite the problem when it comes to being touch starved but rather that he considers himself to be either to busy with little down time to be spending it with another person.

- Meeting him had to happen at Treasure Eatery or you were introduced too him by Hassel. Hassel knows to many people for his own good.

- Conversations and Food seem to be the surrounding light- but the second you even mention something about normal types seems to be his passion.

- Going on for hours over the kinds of Pokémon and how strong they really are even if they aren’t to popular amongst more elite trainers.

- Pinkie Finger holding. Holds your finger in his own and it’s a very brave step coming from him of all people.

- Encourages though for the both of you to take those steps forward and will get tickets for events. Dances but much more relaxed ones.

- Man looks like he could be a really good ballroom dancer very much by the book.

- ��Yes um oh..well how about this we will hold each other’s shoulders. Your..outfit looks really nice” if you wear something with clouds on it means a lot too him since it matches his tie.

First Anniversary Gift: a Tandemaus!

- “I found these little ones and they remind me of us. So here- for you..I love you Gerbera. How about we go out and eat I’m sure we can find something new tonight”

- Going to a different restaurant is his way of showing how comfortable he is with you! So that’s a really good thing.
