One Piece Novel: Law — a short analysis

So, after a long time trying to get my hands on the Law light novel, I was finally able to read it recently! And, because I'm an obnoxiously intense person who can't just be normal about things, I found myself taking notes about everything I judged interesting.

And I thought I could share! So here's a mostly improvised essay about the Law novel, how it portrays Law and what it reveals about him as a character.

Some notes before I start:

The edition I've read of this novel is the official Spanish translation by Planeta. When quoting and mentioning numbered pages, I'm referencing that edition.

I originally posted this on Twitter as a thread! If it sounds familiar, that might be why.

For those who haven't read the novel and might want to: be mindful of some trigger warnings, including gruesome medical descriptions, suicidal thoughts, mentions of abuse, and violence in general (I won't be touching on these subjects here though).

These are just my personal impressions, I'm not trying to tell anyone how they should interpret the novel or Law's character. I'm just doing this for fun!

The story takes place right after Cora dies, following young Law's journey as he makes it to Swallow Island and desperately tries to survive. There, he will meet Bepo, Penguin and Shachi, as well as Wolf, a novel-exclusive character that welcomes Law and the boys into his home as a family.

Overall, it's a very short read, agile and straightforward. The style is very juvenile, but that was to be expected, and I'd say it does a pretty good job at capturing the feeling of watching a One Piece episode. The novel does kinda feel like a mini arc.

I'm unsure if light novels can be considered 100% canon in general, but since the contents don't contradict anything from what we've already seen in the manga/anime, I'm going to assume we can at least take the events described in this one as canon.

But I'll leave the plot aside a little bit to focus more on Law's psyche, analyzing everything in the novel as material that helps us further understand him.

The entire book (save from a few specific passages) is written from Law's point of view and in first person, so it offers a more in-depth look at his way of thinking, motivations and ideals.

What I find most interesting in this sense is that the whole story is very centered around Law's kindness. Though he does admit several times that he had wanted to see the world burn when he was under Doflamingo's care (as we already know from the source material), the novel makes it very obvious that Law's true nature is compassionate. His inner voice even explicitly states that he enjoys helping and making others happy. (Quotes roughly translated from Spanish):

P. 27: "And I felt very comfortable collaborating with the task of helping others."

P. 92: "Knowing that I was going to free a person from their pain [...] gave me a joy I had never experienced before."

P. 136: "Just imagining the surprised faces of the Old Man, Bepo and the others brought a smile to my face" [when planning on getting fresh fish for dinner as a surprise].

And, despite living under Wolf's motto of "give to take," Law never expects anything in return for any of his good actions. In fact, he gets furious at Wolf himself when, after saving his life, the old man insists on giving Law anything he demands as compensation.

P. 120: "I didn't save you because I wanted a reward!" [...] They [Bepo, Shachi and Penguin] burst into tears of happiness when they realized that you had survived. That's more than enough for me! [...]" I won't let you belittle their tears!"

But even then, Law keeps arguing that he only saved Wolf "on a whim," much like he would say years later when asked why he chose to save Luffy's life. This is a common theme throughout the whole book (which is also pretty obvious in the manga)—Law doesn't recognize his own kindness.

It's not modesty or shyness, his inner monologue makes it very clear that he doesn't see himself as good-natured, and is often confused at his own motivations.

In their first meeting, when Bepo asks him why he is so nice to him, Law doesn't know what to answer; and after that, when Law finds himself wondering why he's trying so hard to save Shachi and Penguin despite their past history, he blames it all on "doctor's pride."

P. 48: "I wasn't even a good person."

Still, regardless of what Law might think of himself, living in Swallow Island seems to be making him progressively gentler. He was wary and hostile towards Wolf at first, but eventually lets himself trust people again, trying to honor Cora's memory and what he taught Law.

In Swallow Island he builds his new found family little by little, though never letting go of Cora and what he meant to Law.

P. 39: "Cora and I were family, that's what I felt at heart, I had no doubts. We had loved each other without saying it out loud [...] Would I feel the same for the Old Man and Bepo eventually?"

Slowly, he starts finding comfort and joy in community. He lets himself be carefree around his new friends, treating them with open affection, laughing and being surprisingly enthusiastic (although he quickly starts taking his role as a leader very seriously, and sometimes avoids showing weakness around them so as not to worry them.)

Law even gets to become an active part of life in Pleasure Town, where he and the other boys are cherished after 3 years living and working there. He's comfortable with his role in the community and appreciates the people in town. His sense of duty towards them shines especially when the pirates arrive to attack the town.

Again, this contrasts with how Law sees himself even in the manga/anime, where he insists that he acts mostly out of selfishness and only seeking his own benefit (or, in the best of cases "on a whim.")

But the truth is that Law's decisions are almost always related to other people's desires.

In this sense, the concept of guilt is also key to understand Law's motivations and his relationship with the world as a whole. This is especially obvious when it comes to Cora—Law even briefly wishes that they had never met, so that Cora would still be alive (p. 128-129.)

In a way, guilt is what moves Law forward, and what slowly starts transforming into a thirst for revenge, into rage and hatred towards Doflamingo and possibly towards himself too. It's a kind of tragic guilt born out of love.

His love for Cora still haunts him, his last wish for Law is the big enigma that he tries to solve during his 3 years in Swallow Island: be free. What is freedom to Law? How can he fulfill Cora's request? This is the question that gives meaning to the novel.

We know that Law wouldn't feel free until finally taking down Doflamingo and avenging Cora's death many years later, but he hasn't reached that point of determination in the novel yet. Maybe that's what gives the narration that hopeful and optimistic tone, with a young Law that's still finding himself, experiencing wonder in loving again, and learning what it means for him to be true to his values. It's the start of an adventure, and its core theme is love.

The ending illustrates this very well; I especially like the moment where Law names the crew as they're setting sail:

P. 243: "Cora's love that he showed me, Wolf's affection, the trust I had in my companions. One word embodied it all: Heart."

It is love that gives Law a reason to keep going. And I'm so glad that the novel doesn't shy away from this fact and isn't afraid of sounding "sappy" or "corny," because I do believe emotion is a very important part of Law's character.

The epilogue closes with a very interesting quote in the last page:

"You hear that, Cora? This is my... This is our pirate crew."

It is unclear if by "our" he is referring to himself and Cora, as if dedicating this new beginning to him, or if he means him and his crew. I'd personally like to think he means it both ways. But in any case, it's interesting that he openly shares the honor of "owning" his crew with someone else. He is the captain, but not the owner. It's another little way in which his generosity is evidenced.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable read, and it left me wanting more. Obviously, it's not a literature masterpiece, but it gives a lot of interesting material for character analysis, which is super fun.

Finally, here’s a few fun facts for those who can’t/don’t want to read the novel but enjoy the little trivia:

The Polar Tang was built and designed by Wolf.

Law’s first tattoo was "DEATH," and he got it at a local tattoo shop in Pleasure Town at around 15 years old.

Shachi and Penguin are childhood friends and likely met through their parents.

Shachi had always wanted to be a hair stylist.

Law is bad at cooking.

Both Shachi and Penguin are good at cooking, especially Penguin, who worked as a waiter in Pleasure Town.

The Hearts’ jolly roger was collectively designed by Law, Bepo, Shachi and Penguin days before leaving Swallow Island.

Law decided the name of their crew upon setting sail for the first time.

And I think that's all! ♥ I hope my rambling was enjoyable at least!

The In-Universe Implications of What Odysseus Says in My Goodbye

Okay so during My Goodbye Odysseus says a lot but one thing that as of recent has started sticking out to me is him saying "at least I know what I'm fighting for while you're fighting to be known" and when you actually think more about that line it doesn't really make sense that Odysseus would say this to Athena because back in Ancient Greece Athena was one of the most well known and well respected goddesses, I mean she had a whole city named after her and any warrior/soldier with half a brain would pray to her for strength and wisdom in battle (ofc they'd also pray to Ares for strength but this post isn't about him). So it wasn't like Athena was disrespected (no gods really ever were because that's like a huge no no) or not largely recognized by people which honestly leaves a pretty big question: WHY did Odysseus say that? It wasn't him just saying stuff to say stuff because that combined with him saying how Athena was alone actually upset her. This is where God Games comes in, yeah, God Games.

In the original Odyssey for anyone who doesn't know, nothing anything like God Games happened. That was all Jorge adding new points to the story (and I absolutely love it) but for the sake of digging into this I'll be going a little into the original source material. In Greek Mythology in general Athena was said to have been Zeus' favorite or at the least one of his most favored children, so in The Odyssey when Athena asks him to free Odysseus he actually just kind does it with very little hassle, he kinda mentions how "hey yk kiddo Poseidon's still pretty pissed at the guy but I'll still let him go". No multi-step debate, no getting beaten by lightning. In EPIC however, Athena goes to Zeus and he decides to make a game out of freeing Odysseus and when Athena wins that game Zeus feels like she's shaming him and he strikes her with lightning. Which is actually crazy work tbh, but anyways, the entire existence of God Games and Zeus making the game up to begin with at surface level just seems like Zeus wanting to mess with Athena but if you think about it along with Odysseus saying Athena is "fighting to be known" it can kinda be read more as Zeus not really taking her seriously and not thinking she can do it. I mean he had at least three people he was probably pretty solid wouldn't agree with her: Aphrodite (her and Athena don't get along), Ares (Ares and Athena are often at odds in many interpretations of the gods due to them being on opposites of the aspect of warfare), and Hera (who is famous for being the biggest hater of like 90% of Zeus bastard children). Hephaestus and Apollo agreeing or disagreeing was probably a toss up, but in the end all five gods agreed to have Odysseus released and Zeus was left for some reason: angry. Now ik a lot of people think its just because of the jab about the whole faithfulness thing and I mean it could be, but that would only answer the "to make me feel shame" part. not the whole "you dare to defy me" and "nobody beats me, nobody wins my game". Overall it sounds more like Zeus didn't want Athena to win, but why? Because despite her importance: he doesn't take her seriously, and possibly neither does... well, anyone.

Go back to Warrior of The Mind and Athena talks about how her life has one mission: to create the greatest warrior. Why though? Why is this her life's ONE mission? Because she wants to be recognized by her fellow gods maybe?

Because remember during WOTM she also says "Maybe one day they'll follow me and we'll make a greater tomorrow" which if I'm on the right brain track here could possibly mean "maybe one day they'll take me seriously/respect me" like maybe if she makes the greatest warrior other gods will actually recognize her for who she is. Because Athena also switches to saying "we'll" and "cause WE are the warriors of the mind"

Basically to summarize: Possibly, in EPIC, Athena isn't as well respected as she is in mythology (because remember Jorge takes creative liberties when he wants to) and her whole thing her entire life has been trying to gain that respect and have people take her seriously, because even despite her being the goddess of wisdom and a crucial deity to have on your side during warfare, outside of that nobody really cares. She's only respected when she's needed but like anyone would she hates that and wants to be known and respected all the time, not only during wars when soldiers want her good will and at some point in time Athena may have actually opened up to Odysseus about this or talked about it and THATS why she got upset at the end of My Goodbye, because not only did Odysseus legit just call her lonely after calling her selfish, prideful, vain, and a plague; He used something she'd told him in most likely confidence and maybe even in a moment of weakness against her.

I don't know if this rant makes much sense but yeah, have me spitting words onto Tumblr about the fact that Odysseus saying that Athena is "fighting to be known" has some interesting in-universe implications.

Headcanons for Mammon, Leviathan, Satan, and Asmodeus with touch starved gender neutral s/o?

Mammon.

he will deny it forever, would never admit to it unless in very rare tender moments, refuse to say it out loud, but the truth is that he is kind of glad that you feel that way because it‘s the same for him.

mammon tends to hide his feelings behind harsh words, but you can notice him putting in more effort to be close to you. holding your hand as you walk together, cuddling more often and hugging you more. when you mention it he will immediately deny doing it while blushing.

even his brothers notice how much more he tries to be consciously affectionate and they will tease him about it sooner or later. he‘s fine with it, but if they start teasing you, he will get defensive only to deny it.

you mean a lot to him and he‘s your first man. he‘s happy you came to him with this and not anyone else. even if they might be better at dealing with it, are better at showing affection, but he‘s getting there.

Leviathan.

with levi, it‘s kind of obvious that he‘s touch starved too. the thing with him is that he‘s horrible embarrassed about it too though

levi can‘t handle much physical touch. he heats up, needs time to cool off and get his energy back. his type of affection is more on the side of being in the same room, spending time together and listening to each other talk. he needs to get used to anything else after not having it for so long.

most of his experience with these type of things comes from anime and manga which isn‘t really..the best source, so feel free to tell him that. it would make things less awkward in the long run.

with levi it‘s a journey of healing together, getting used to touch again as you get to know each other. he‘s doing his best but he needs your guidance too, just so he doesn‘t feel to embarrassed about not really knowing what to do.

Satan.

satan wouldn‘t say he‘s touch starved, he‘s just doesn‘t need as much attention and affection as some of his brothers. that‘s what he says if anyone asks at least. the truth is he‘s probably at least a bit touch starved as well, if only because people get nervous around him. he is the avatar of wrath after all, he‘s not seen as approachable by many people.

the point is, he doesn‘t see it as a problem for himself, however when it comes to you that‘s a different matter.

as a demon, there aren‘t really many side effects to not getting physical contact with other demons, so it comes as a surprise when humans are different in that regard. he didn‘t look into it when he read it when figuring out more about humans, but apparently it‘s more important than he thought.

the thing with satan is, he tries his best with it. but much like levi most of his idea of touch and romance comes from novels he read and not actual experience so it can get pretty awkward sometimes. but he does his best to make sure that you aren‘t touch starved anymore, no matter how awkward it might be.

Asmodeus.

asmo is probably the only one on this list that isn‘t touch starved. he‘s not shy to ask for affection or give it after all.

so you will never be touch starved again. asmo doesn’t really care for personal space and the second he decides he likes you he becomes affectionate. simple touches are a constant for him, holding hands, surprise hugs, back hugs. all of that and more are to expect with him.

he is surprisingly aware of how touch starved you are. he makes sure you’re comfortable every step of the way, wanting to show you that you don’t have to miss out on touch anymore, that he is there for you.

if you ever tell him it’s too much he will reign himself in a little. he doesn’t like making you uncomfortable so make sure to tell him if he goes overboard. he‘s hyper aware of his partner‘s reactions when it comes to these types of things and also the one with the most experience.

On that note: saw your smut posts. Here's an idea: Jamil celebrating his promotion to being a Housewarden.

It's Friday, there's an enormous party going on to celebrate Jamil and Kalim's new roles and the successes of the first month with this new dynamic. While Jamil is more accustomed to the spotlight, he still gets "tired out" and leaves it to Kalim to keep the party going and organize the clean up crew. After all, he's due for a more private celebration of his own.

Fun fact: for a good chunk of snake species, the male will bite the females neck to hold them down while mating.

Imagine Jamil relentlessly taking his beloved from behind, deciding they're wriggling a bit too much. Also worth mentioning that, as a healthy mature couple, all of Jamil's jealousy and possessiveness is addressed in a healthy manner so the relationship never turns toxic. This statement does not apply to the bedroom.

Yeah iirc I was thinking a bit if I should ask you about using that ask as a jumping off point for To Revel in You, but I figured I was using it more as inspiration rather than rewriting anything you wrote or anything like that. And that since you sent that ask in the first place, I did kinda assume it would be okay to build off it. But good to hear I wasn’t wrong in thinking so, and glad you liked it.

As for characterization & writing: it really is a matter of practice, I’d say. Plus, like, everyone is bound to interpret the characters in a different way, or focus on different aspects of them. Which can be freeing, in a way, knowing that you can bring to the table something that no one else can, certainly not in the same exact way you would.

Also I was actually thinking of asking for some writing prompts since the current wip seems to need a bit more time to marinate, and here you are with perfect timing.

So let’s see what I can do with this concept.

If it wasn’t obvious: smut ahead. Written with fem / afab reader in mind but I think this could be read gender neutral as well since the only specific body detail mentioned is that reader has hair long enough for Jamil to grab.

The day - and the week, and the month - had been such a whirlwind that even Jamil had had trouble keeping up with it all.

Tonight, Jamil had basked in the praises from his dormmates, their congratulations and glowing words - and noted the cautious looks of those who still had not forgotten the events of his overblot.

He had enjoyed food that was not made by him, watched others fuss over the preparations and the serving - well, as much as he had been able to keep himself from giving direction. Still, even he had not been able to oversee every single detail, as much as he wanted to.

After all, both you and Kalim had been quite insistent, in your own ways, that this celebration should be for him, not by him.

So Jamil had danced, eaten, drank, listened, talked, so much so that now when the night was beginning to turn towards morning, he had more than had his fill.

Besides, tired as he may be of the crowd, there was still something on his agenda that he was more than happy to indulge in.

You had been teasing him with promises of a more private celebration - starting from when the party was decided on all the way to when you had been dancing together earlier - and Jamil intended to finally collect his reward.

You were outside for a moment of fresh air and quiet when Jamil found you, wrapping his arms around you from behind and nipping your ear.

“I remember someone promising to be mine tonight,” he murmured, voice low and husky.

You shivered, feeling Jamil’s lips on your neck. You’d half expected him to be too tired to turn your teasing into action. Yet, you certainly welcomed this turn of events, your own tiredness washed away by Jamil’s eager touch and his tempting whispers.

“You know me. Always love - ahhh - spoiling you,” you said - your words turning into a gasp when Jamil licked the side of your neck.

In no time at all you found yourself in Jamil’s room - as easy as it was to be distracted by each other, you both still preferred the privacy over lingering in the common areas of the dorm.

Jamil’s mouth was hungry on yours, his hands working quickly to rid you of your clothes.

Sometimes you wondered just how much Jamil was holding back in the presence of others, for him to get so ravenous as soon as you two were alone.

Not that you were any different, pulling away that long belt from Jamil’s hips so that you could slip your hands under his shirt, your lips covering every available bit of his skin with kisses.

It was always delicious, your naked bodies tangled together. That heady feeling of each other, both of you grasping and kissing wherever you could, like you could never quite feel enough of the other.

“So what would mister housewarden ask of me tonight?” you asked with a playful grin, nuzzling your nose against Jamil’s.

There was undeniable hunger in the way Jamil looked at you, yet also the warmth and softness of your lover that always filled your heart to the brim.

“Just all of you, albi,” Jamil murmured, pushing you down onto the mattress.

You’d entertained ideas of a celebratory blowjob, of taking care of Jamil tonight. But if he’d rather help himself to you, you were certainly not going to say no.

A few orgasms later and Jamil was pounding into you, firmly holding onto your hips while your face was pressed onto the sheets. His cock was invading your insides so hard, so deep, leaving you nearly senseless. You jolted helplessly every time Jamil slammed his way all the way in, the pleasure bordering on pain as it shot through your nerves.

“Ahhh, Jamil…” you whimpered, barely aware of the spot of drool you’d left on the bed.

“Too much?” Jamil muttered, one of his hands leaving your side to instead trail a soothing path along your spine.

It was a lot, your senses nearly overtaken by the intensity of it all - yet you didn’t want anything less.

Still, you couldn’t help squirming, your body twitching with every thrust, yelps and moans pushed from your throat no matter how much you tried to hold them in.

“Hold still,” Jamil grunted. 

He gathered your hair in his hand, making you gasp when he tugged. You could feel the pull on your scalp, almost like Jamil wanted to rein you in - or pull your face away from the sheets so that he could hear your cries more clearly.

“You’re all mine tonight, aren’t you? Mine to have, mine to enjoy,” Jamil breathed to your ear.

“Yes, yes, yes…” you whined, aroused beyond belief.

Always his, just as he is yours - but you had no time to vocalize that thought before Jamil’s weight pushed you prone on the bed.

Your gasp was cut short, turned into a sharp cry when you felt moist pressure at the back of your neck - a bite, you realized, some instinct telling you to keep still.

Not that you had much of a choice in the matter. Jamil’s hand, still gripping your hair. His mouth, latched onto your skin. His body, holding you down.

The weight of him against your back was almost suffocating, yet in a delicious way. Like you could be closer to him like this, more connected than just skin to skin contact - or penetration - could provide.

You could feel the rolling of Jamil’s hips against your backside, the way his cock was dragging along your insides. Not as harshly as before, yet intense enough to keep you trembling and whining with the little breath you could take.

And Jamil’s mouth, his teeth, never letting go. His muffled groans such a delicious sound, making you clench around him.

Such sweet torture, and you never wanted it to end.

district 6 headcanons! 🚂

yeah, i'm a d6 fan too!!! sue me! here are my top hcs that i use for worldbuilding. if you've read my fic, "o children", then you'll recognize a lot of these things.

industry things

district 6 has many industries involving transportation. oil rigging companies, vehicle manufacturing factories (that they call 'manu-factories' for short), exporters and importers, etc..

exporters and importers get to travel outside of the district for a few weeks at a time, but their activity is monitored by peacekeepers quite heavily.

exporters and importers have the most access to morphling, and consume it more too. of course, there's rings that trade it and such, but people (and those in different districts) usually get their fixes through them.

i can imagine d6 being a work accident prone district. falling off trains, spilling oil, falling manufactured parts, etc..

as part of my fic, there's also an underground boxing ring ran by the peacekeepers to keep themselves entertained, but also to put money in the pockets of those who might not wanna end up in prison and need an... alternative to jail time. i hc that other districts have it too! maybe in d2?

^ OOH! speaking of which, what if career districts developed it into academies while others had it die down/kept more on the down low?

places

VERY polluted district. like, they have to have air purifiers in their homes and wear "outdoor masks" made out of cloth around their faces type of polluted. i also think districts that manufacture things -- like 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 12 -- also have a smilar problem.

i think the problem is concentrated more on the urban areas or people who live next to the factories/train stations.

apparently their population is larger than the average district, according to the fandom wiki, so i imagine that the poorer section of the district live near the factories in large apartment buildings. a neighborhood that i've created is called "farren heights".

meanwhile, the richer folks lived in townhouses/rowhouses. they have more of their own space, but the houses are still very, very squished together. another neighborhood i've created is called "peregrine court".

between the two is their marketplace/commercial area called "traveler's square". of course, they'll have their own shops in their respective neighborhoods, but it's not as plentiful as traveler's square. they need those spaces to create new apartment units or housing developments for the growing population. TS brings them together as it has all the fun pubs, shops, etc..

i think they travel within the district via a smaller metro/train system!

i also believe that due to their growing population, and because not everyone can afford the rent, they have a group of people they call "vagabonds". they build their own homes, but because of the expenses, they don't have their own purifiers. they are the most affected by the pollution.

cultural influences?!

german and indigenous algonquin are their dominant cultures. (hugest shout out to @pottershawkinswp and @wxstfulthoughts for helping me with the german stuff TM).

this is b/c there was a big migration of german people in this region some time ago. and the indigenous tribes that occupy these lands are algonquin!

the more minor cultures are black and latino! this is because of the fact that they have a very, very small portion of illinois/chicago according to the fandom wiki 😜

potatoes are their main source of carbs. and they have a lot of german-style foods like cheese soup, cold breakfast, etc..

along with travel/manufacture themed names, i also think some people have german influences in their names or surnames.

as for indigenous influence, i can see the youngsters referring to the older people as "elders". they also definitely pass down cultures through story-telling or word of mouth.

i also think they have a cryptid called the W. nothing else to the name, just the W. it's known today as the w*ndigo, but b/c i'm scared TM of the taboo that saying its name will bring it closer to you, i will not say it 😇 over time, the name was forgotten and just became known as the singular letter!

those of indigenous descent would keep their hair long in braids. i believe beading is implemented into their clothes too :)

these folks definitely line dance, a bit of jazz, bit of freestyling. very lively and very rowdy, free, etc.. they're there for a good time, not a long one!

Would you like to share your thoughts with the public about O’saAbella? Like anything, whether that would be the reason why you started shipping them, au's, scenarios that are running in your head 24/7 ect.

I was hoping for this day to come…

Alright so, it all started when I saw this happen in the confessional cutscene, when you tell O’saa you have a crush on someone from the train. First person he mentions is Abella :

Like, this is undoubtedly meant to be Abella, no doubt. So certainely he must at least perceive her as attractive for him to think of her literally above anyone else. (He does mention Karin instead of you play as Abella but like. Most likely cause it’s just that, you already are Abella so he would not ask you if you are into Abella lol.)

THEN FUNNILY ENOUGH the way I started to ship O’saa and Abella together was by wondering if they were any fics with…Ah, Abella tending to O’saa, if you catch my drift. Take care of him. In bed. Dominating him, gonna say things as they are. (There weren’t any at the time.)

So it lead me to think of them more and actually realize that their dynamic would be entertaining to see and how they would actually make a cute couple. I started to look for more things between them in game, and besides the Party Talks that are pretty fucking funny, I had figured out something.

In the Tunnel 1, exactly where you can recruit O’saa, the only way to get him in your party is having him ask you if you know anything of the tunnels you are in, you HAVE to reply to him in the affirmative.

(Source is on wiki gg, but feel free to go check that out of yourself, you will see that he won’t suggest to join you if you tell him you don’t understand what is happening in the tunnels.)

So, guess who amongst literally everyone in the Contestants that is well versed in machines and more importantly, tunnels ?

That’s right, Abella. The Mechanic.

What I am suggesting right here is that it’s highly likely that «canonically» (as in the intended storyline that happens during Termina), Abella is the person finding O’saa and helping him out. Not only because she knows how the tunnels works, but also she is most definitely one of the few characters that would be willing to take in a wounded person with her and help them get back to their feet in the cast.

Now there isn’t even this evidence we have in canon, but there is also the fact that their personalities are opposites, and even more than that, some of their themes too, all the while having actually quite important points in common. Let me explain.

Abella has grown up a caregiver, having helped her parents take care of her younger siblings since she is a child. She has an actually quite peppy personality beyond that frown on her portrait, she enjoys romance books and literature. She expresses sadness or disgust at death, if not straight up distress when she sees people actively suffering (the people hanging at the ceiling yelling at the shopping district of Prehevil). Abella suffers for others, as she Moonscorches literally while she is trying to find pieces for the train, doing a thing she always did : helping other people.

O’saa has grown up most of his life away from his family, and since really young has adopted a «fend for yourself and only yourself» kind of mentality. He does not care for the homeless, if not immediately mocking them, he is completely unphased at violence and the suffering of others, he even threatens to hurt YOU if you come too close to him for his liking. O’saa suffers for himself, as we can see his Moonscorch reveals his struggle with wishing for his autonomy and escaping the control of higher powers.

That being said, the points in common they have is that they are both very very dependant and self reliant, both very much the kind of character to take matters into their own hands and get their own hands dirty to get what they want. And if they want something, they WILL get it by all means necessary (see Abella’s Ending B of her learning astrophysics and building a whole ass spaceship to get in contact with the Moon, while O’saa’s Ending B is him BECOMING the higher power, aka a cult leader, to not be controlled anymore and instead BE the one in control, which in my opinion is tragic in its own right but I won’t elaborate on O’saa on his own here.)

All that being said, as a couple I would imagine that most of it would happen outside of Prehevil, in a canon divergent ending of Termina.

Abella, knowing O’saa is erudite about magic and the surnatural, would ask to stay in contact with him because she feels the need to know more about what happened during the festival. O’saa would accept, happy to have an occasion to have his ego being stroked while he teaches someone else about what he knows.

The pair would travel the world to learn new things, spend a lot of time together, and Abella would even teach O’saa a thing or two about mechanics as a trade off for him teaching her about the occult.

Eventually both would have feelings about eachother…On Abella’s side it feels natural for it to happen, as they do spend a lot of time with eachother and enjoy eachother’s companies and hobbies. On O’saa’s side though…needless to say he is having an existential crisis because he did not even know having simple, romantic feelings for someone was even possible for him. I think sexual feelings he views as not shameful, because it’s what his body would need and not his feelings, but there he is having a proof that he’s not as dead inside as he tried to be for years.

Abella is aware of this, as O’saa grows visibly more hesitant and dare I even say coy with showing affection to her that goes a bit too uncomfortably close to the line between simple friendship and romantic attentions. She decides to let him figure it out by himself, but that does not mean she doesn’t enjoy seeing him very subtly avoid her gaze when their eyes meet.

I also have. A whole thing with me and associating them with Gro-Goroth and Sylvian imagery. This bit is not a theory or trying to prove anything being canon, but it’s more about symbolism and narratives that I like to associate with them cause I do like some religious imagery. I can most definitely get into detail about it, but the post is already too long as it is by itself LOL

re the palestinian bird thing: different anon here, idk what they meant but it’s worth noting that, in addition to political fuckery, that the campaign to remove the word “palestine” from the bird's name might have partially been an attempt to correct a bit of historical revisionism. the only reason that region of the world is commonly known as palestine today in the first place is because the roman empire renamed the area to “syria palaestina” after the roman-jewish wars. they had previously allowed the province to be called judea/judaea, as in jews and the jewish kingdoms that existed there before being conquered. and it wasn't until much later that the arabs now known as palestinians came to be. (disclaimer: I don't speak hebrew and can't be bothered to track down hebrew articles from a decade ago to translate by hand to fact check how much this played into the bird thing but it is a reasonable possibility and an understandable one, as jewish heritage has been so often destroyed and erased. regardless, the palestinian response to make the bird a symbol is equally understandable.) relatedly, be careful about the phrase “from the river to the sea”, because while it's sometimes about palestinian liberation, it's also often used as a dogwhistle that means “kill all jews in the levant”; and the dogwhistle version has become increasingly common as of late. look into the organization called standing together for antisemitism-free activism and jewish/palestinian solidarity.

I see what you mean, the history you mentioned seems to check out and it's unquestionably been a tumultuous part of the world that's been given a lot of different names over time. However I don't really feel comfortable in agreeing it was combating revisionism because it happened during what I understand to be a violent occupation. Without a source or truly knowing the intentions it's just kind of speculation.

"From the river to the sea" was used in that post in the context of Palestinian freedom and peace. Related to that point, I also received another ask concerned with my use of the word "zionist" as it has historically described a very wide range of ideas, and has also been used as an antisemitic dogwhistle. That was not my intent, it's the word I was most familiar with to get across my point that I don't support violence against or the erasure of Palestinian culture. Those using violence and calls for peace to excuse antisemitism are despicable. One can and should be an ally of both Palestinians and Jewish people.

I looked up Standing Together, I can certainly get behind their message of peace and cooperation, and people in Israel who are working to end the genocide deserve so much respect and admiration. It seems like reception to the movement has been mostly positive, but I feel it'd be irresponsible not to mention that the PACBI wing of the BDS movement has taken issue with it in the past week. I don't feel qualified to take a definitive stance either way, especially as I also can't read Hebrew or Arabic to get more direct contex. I encourage anyone interested to learn more and come to your own conclusions.

My overall point is that I do not support the genocide the Israeli miltary is enacting on the Palestinian people. I want to share more posts about Palestinian culture, art, and joy in a time where there is effort being made to erase it.

like i already /knew/ I was before this moment, but i was thinkin about what i used to do as a kid and wow i am so autistic how the fuck did i not realise sooner. It straight up wasn't until I was already well into my 20's that I started to meet other autistic people online and learned about their experiences and difficulties from talking with them that I realised a lot of things they described matched for me too.

I live in assfuck nowhere so most of my life the only few times that I had met autistic people were like, folks who were nonverbal or whatever, just generally needing direct assistive care, and I never bothered to look things up on my own because I was already inundated with the pressures of growing up, school, mental health, etc. I remember one of the first times I had built up the courage to ask anyone about it, I was in the hospital because of mental health issues. This was in my second year uni, and when one of the doctors assessing me was asking me questions, I said I thought maybe I was autistic. He promptly and with a fair amount of snark told me that if I was autistic I wouldn't have gotten into university.

Thinking back, he was probably just an exhausted, fresh outta school resident with no special interest in psychiatric care (and also just seemed to suck in general), but it was enough that I shelved the idea for another 5 years.

Lo and behold, now I am lying here in bed, just absolutely gobsmacked by the VERY REAL idea that im autistic and like holy shit I feel so vindicated.

I've been on tumblr for just a bit, but I see a lot of folks talking in various neurodivergent circles about their experiences and that's been so wonderful for me. I also have a few good friend groups w/ a lot of neurodivergent folks, and that's been really exciting too.

Like, I'm still processing this cognitively as I'm writing, so please pardon this ill patterned post, but this feels like such a beneficial thing for me. Over time I've adapted a few strategies here and there to help myself accomplish various tasks, but now I feel so empowered to, like... actually figure stuff out.

Even after feeling confident I was autistic, it was this nebulous, floating concept in my head for so long of, "oh yeah im autistic or something idk," that I never really dedicated much effort to finding healthier ways to do things that didn't irk me or whatever. I don't feel like the label /itself/ is what is important to me here, but rather the awareness around why I do so many things in the ways that I do and that it's /okay/ that I do.

I don't want this post to go on too much longer, but I feel it's worth noting that I've fought for years with my family because they didn't understand why I was going about things the way I did. Again, remember, they all grew up in this cloistered hellhole too. But, surprise surprise, the times in my life that I have been doing better than any other are when I felt confident enough to ignore what everyone was trying to get me to go along with and instead just fashioned my own best methods (which also sometimes included informing said overbearing individual(s) to go fuck themselves cause I'm busy doing shit. It's hard for them to argue with me telling them as much when I would be completing X objective well, which is what they wanted in the first place).

I don't want to make this sound like I'm trying to be overconfident, but I mention as much instead as a sign of support for other neurodivergent folks to feel similarly empowered to drum to their own beat. Thinking back, I went from almost failing high school and ultimately retaking a grade to excelling in all my classes. Every single one. I know that's a relative assessment, you got variable difficulty levels, etc., and the grade score isn't important in and of itself, least of all because the school systems here (Canada) are a mess it seems, but just that alone as an idea, within the parameters of a particular system, I went from initial abject failure to thorough and lauded success.

Just think of what so many people could do if they weren't being pigeonholed into formats that absolutely aren't working for them.

I already have a boatload of (genuinely helpful by way of enabling access to proper education and treatment) diagnoses from my history of working with my (very wonderful and genuinely caring and helpful) psychiatrist that match with what I know about the neurodivergence term umbrella like ADHD, OCD, and bipolar, so it seems |autism| will feel quite at home in the group ^w^. I'll ask her about it at my next appointment to see if an official diagnosis has any value versus me just continuing to figure things out on my own.

I'm not new to deity worship and deity work because I worship and work with two deities, but for a couple of weeks I've been really into reading about Lucifer. Honestly I had a fascination with him since I was little but through the Christian lenses (I would read and watch videos about his fall from Heaven and get into debates with friends about it lol). I wasn't raised as an avid Christian so I never really perceived him as all evil and scary as he is depicted.

Anyway, after stumbling my mind around him again I asked someone for a reading. I asked if he was trying to reach me, they said that it's another deity and that Lucifer said everything will be fine. That deity doesn't want to stick for long and doesn't want to have a place on the altar, so that's not the point here. The point is that I have some questions regarding Lucifer.

1. Do you have some sources about him? Idk if I'll be able to get into them but I'll try.

2. Does he send you any signs that he's reaching out to you or did you reach out to him? If you did, can I ask how?

3. How's your relationship with him and what divination tools you usually use to communicate with him?

I think these are the questions I have for now. I know that you can reach out to deities but I feel shy about it ig? I think I'm a bit intimidated by the idea of doing so and I have a lot of doubts about his reasons why he would reach out to me. I don't practice daily and I don't speak with my deities as much as I want to.

Hello! I'm happy you feel curious towards him. I felt the same for a long time. I always felt some kind of fascination for him and demons in general since I was a kid. But now, regarding your questions:

1) I myself am currently still learning about him. In my opinion, his Wikipedia is a really good place to start. It talks about the history behind him, as well as how he's related to Roman/Greek deities and planet Venus. I would also suggest looking into the etymology of his name and where his name is mentioned in the Bible, just to understand his background. If you want to focus your practice on Demonolatry, I'm reading "The complete book of Demonolatry" by S. Connolly and for now it is very interesting. It talks about demons in general, obviously, but to worship him as a demon, or any demon, I think it's important to read about the topic as a whole and then focus your practice on whatever feels right. I'd also suggest looking into depictions of him and the symbolism of the works. If anyone wants to, feel free to recommend any sources you find interesting about him (that'll help me too ;) ).

2) The story is interesting. I was not practicing anything at the moment, but for a small assignment I had to write a short story/poem/something nice. I really wanted to write something related to religion because I, obviously, find it really interesting. My idea was to write something about the resentment of Lucifer towards God, but it was late and the ideas weren't flowing. So my inexperienced silly head decided to call upon a literal demon to help me write it, and there was Lucifer. Nothing bad happened, but he was extremely scary. His energy in the environment was just very heavy, idk. The thing is I talked to him (I stuttered the whole time) and he helped me write one of the best things I've written, imo it was very good work, and I got a really good grade. After that I just thanked him and we never talked again, but I felt such fascination for him after our conversation that I had to reach out to him again months later, because the idea of worshipping him wouldn't leave my mind. I reached out and he told me "alright, do whatever you want but I don't think you'll last much, you'll get bored and walk away" (this is related to personal experiences that i won't get in depth with here), so I'm here out of spite (and love), but I think that's what he wanted. As for how I reached out, I just got tired of being obsessed with him and told him "Hey I really wanna work with you in [thing] and it's been like this for months can we please do that I think I'm going insane", a bit dramatic but he got the message. I have a small theory that he just wanted me to have initiative and talk to him, so thinking about him was The Big Sign.

3) I personally prefer to keep some details to myself, but he is very fatherly towards me. Usually if I don't know what to do in a situation I just ask him and he gives pretty good advice. Sometimes I start thinking and light his candle to talk about that though out loud to him. Sometimes he just listens, sometimes he gives counter points. Generally he just likes to hear what I think. For long answers I use tarot, for short ones I use a pendulum, but I usually get certain stuff through clairsenses. Small stuff, though. I can't have a full conversation through clairsenses.

Small piece of advice: Maybe you don't get why he wants to reach out, but he has his own reasons to do so. Maybe he likes your jam, maybe he can help you with something... Whatever it is, he is interested, and that's what matters. You don't have to be an exceptionally special human for a deity to be interested in you. It's like having a cat: maybe they're a bit ugly, a bit silly, a bit stupid, but you like them, with those quirks included.

The fact that you're interested in him is very much a sign that, in my humble opinion, you should reach out to him. He is scary, he is intimidating, but he can also be the sweetest. He won't get mad at you for wanting to worship him, if that concerns you.

He is very, very patient with me. So if you're respectful and a bit more organised than I am, I don't think you'll have any trouble lol. I hope I helped you in any way with my experience, even though it is very limited. We're all learning here and I make mistakes all the time, Lucifer knows that very well. 🙆🏻‍♀️

I feel like this captures her dichotomy of how she wants to be catered to very well.

This song also showcases how lazy she can be when it comes to things she's asked to do. In conjunction with how she expects people to work around her, instead of the other way round.

Hi! I had a fic question and I don't know where to ask it? Feel free to ignore this if you'd like. But I was wondering if my fic would count as an AU if I had a konoha resident character living in a house, and the weather was snowing? I'm still new to naruto and I'm not perfectly acquainted with the different villages. It doesn't snow in konoha right so would that mean my canon character would need to be in the land of snow? I don't really have a reason to put them there. Would anyone read my fic if I wrote it snowed in konoha or nearby? Or should I label my fic as an AU? 

Okay, I'm going to explain a little bit what AU/canon divergence/canon compliant fics are. So depending on that you can probably identify where your fic would fit better.

Alternate Universe (AU): The only things AUs are compelled to take from the source material are the names of the characters, and the rest you can decide on your own. You can keep the basic traits of the characters as it is or change them a little bit, because a character in canon went through the things to become what we know of them. In your AU it's not necessary. So, it would work either way.

Canon Divergence: You take the characters, their canon dynamic, and equations, the world as they are, without deviating from it, but change one major plot point and that consecutively changes their future from how things happened in canon.

For example, if Sasuke learns Itachi's truth before their battle - it would change everything that goes on in canon after Itachi's death. It Naruto isn't taken care of by Iruka, it would change everything with Naruto not being able to handle the hate he received from the village. If, upon Orochimaru's suggestion, the Ame orphans are killed, it would affect the entire future story of Naruto. Fics like this are canon divergent.

Canon Compliant: These fics don't contradict canon too much. There will be minor changes here and there, but unlike an AU or a canon divergent fic these fics take place within the restrains of the source material.

If you're writing a fic with modern setting, are the characters in your story also something other than ninja? Do Shinobi exist? If not, you can tag it as Modern AU. If yes, it could easily fall into canon divergent or canon compliant, depending on whatever you want to convey.

Personally, I take inspiration from not only manga, but also filler episode and novels. Manga doesn't say anything about snowing, but in the Itachi Shinden arc there's a scene with pregnant Mikoto where it starts snowing. I've used that to show it sometimes snows in Konoha.

Some briefing on the village and nation in Naruto.

There are Five Great Nations in Naruto - Land of Fire, Land of Water, Land of Lightning, Land of Wind, and Land of Earth. These lands were the defined by the chakra nature of the Shinobi... As explained by Kakashi

Naruto is set in the Feudal era of Japan in terms of its politics where these countries have a leader they call Daimyō. And all these countries have a powerful village.

Land of Fire has Konohagakure. Land of Water has Kirigakure. Land of Wind has Sunagakure. Land of Lightning has Kumogakure. Land of Earth has Iwagakure.

They have their respective leaders - Hokage, Mizukage, Kazekage, Tsuchikage, Raikage.

There is Land of Iron, but it's not run by the Shinobi forces but Samurai, and it's meant to be neutral. So no other nation can attack it. According to most maps, it lies to the north of Land of Fire.

There are some other villages/lands mentioned like Amegakure, which is situated in an unnamed nation. Land of Waves has no strong military, which is why they needed Konoha's help. There are mentions of the villages scattered here and there but they're insignificant. The major confict in the world happened because of the Five nations.

That's it about the villages (that I know of).

As to the readers not reading your work, I'll say readers are a lot gentler than you give them the credit for. To grab the readers' attention you need to write a proper summary, tag your posts properly, focus on your writing and give proper paragraph breaks. Include the characters in the story only if they are recurring characters. Don't clutter your 'character' and 'relationship' section or even tags. Keep things up that are relevant to you as a writer. I'm assuming you're going to write on AO3 and not on FFN or Wattpad.

We readers don't care about trivial things that are bothering you, although I can understand your feelings. If you can utilise the modern setting and make the readers feel, that would be a win. Don't shy away from taking creative liberties. Fics are meant to explore the uncharted aspects of canon. And writers do this all the time.

Misaki’s Cancer: CW for mentions of cancer, scars, and treatments - BD E10 SPOILERS!

I wanted to look a bit more into Misaki’s cancer. I am not an expert on this topic at all, just going off of info I find online, so anyone who is more informed, please feel free to add your thoughts, more info, etc.

The only thing we really have to go off of in regards to it is the scar, which looks similar to a scar after thyroid cancer removal:

Most of the thyroid cancer scars you find online are post-two weeks, so I’m going to assume that is the same for Misaki’s scar or, at the very least, that that is the youngest the scar is. She could have had the surgery a bit further back as well. How prominent/dark and how faded a scar looks can also very a lot from person to person for a variety of reasons.

We also have Misaki saying, “The cancer spread to here.” Now, I’m not sure if this means that she has had cancer in other parts of her body, and has had it removed, and then it has spread up to her throat, or if this is talking more about how some types of thyroid cancer can spread to other tissues in the throat, such as the lymph nodes.

When Rei asks Misaki if she is going to die, she doesn’t give a direct answer, instead saying:

“God’s so cruel.” And:

“After everything I’ve been through already,”

“he throws this on the pile.”

To me, that isn’t her confirming a death sentence, but more so just implying that her life has gotten more complicated and the cancer caused a lot of general upheaval in her life that wasn’t present before (though before there were a lot of other issues as well, but that’s a different story). 

After all, even though she has had the thyroid cancer removed, there are still other things she would have to worry about. Such as:

“taking lifelong thyroid hormone replacements,” possibly “supplements to balance your calcium levels,” and other treatments to ensure that the cancer has not returned or spread elsewhere. 

When looking into thyroid cancer, however, it seems that this cancer isn’t generally a super fatal one, especially for Misaki’s age:

70% of all thyroid cancer deaths occur in patients who are 65 years and older, with an average age of 73 years. Most forms of thyroid cancer aren’t fatal as well:

As the text in the image above notes: Most thyroid cancers can be cured, especially if they have not spread to distant parts of the body. If the cancer can’t be cured, the goal of treatment may be to remove or destroy as much of the cancer as possible and to keep it from growing, spreading, or returning for as long as possible. 

The survival rate is also quite high:

Text: “In the United States, the 5-year survival rate for people with thyroid cancer is 98%. However, survival rates are based on many factors, including the specific type of thyroid cancer and stage of the disease.

Of course, the above information is United States based. Japan’s thyroid cancer survival and death rate are a bit different (survival is lower and death rates higher), though this may be due to having a larger elderly demographic (as noted above, with most deaths occurring in those 65 years and over).

Now, based on what Misaki said, we know that there has been “spreading.” But does that mean that the cancer spread into the thyroids or does that mean that cancer from elsewhere spread into her thyroid? If it’s the former, then her survival rate is still rather high:

It would be Stage 2 Regional Cancer which, according to this graphic above, has a 97.6% survival rate. Though, it should be noted that she may have anaplastic thyroid cancer, which is a very aggressive form of thyroid cancer and often results in death (and not much time to live afterwards).

Also, if the cancer’s source isn’t the thyroids and it spread there from somewhere else, then that means she has Stage 3 Cancer, can vary or range depending on the kind, but is generally a lot lower. 

We still don’t have a 100% clear picture on this aspect, but Misaki’s cancer isn’t necessarily a death sentence. It might have just been a very painful and life altering wake-up call. Hopefully that life-altering wake-up call will ultimately be a good one and that she will end up with a good survival rate. But, I’m not going to rule out more aggressive types, other cancers, and so forth, which may lower her overall survival rate/length of time as well.

Especially since I’m not a doctor or nurse or anyone with actual medical knowledge and experience with cancers (outside of family members who have had cancer, some of whom are still very much alive). So, once again, if you have more knowledge in this area, please feel free to add to this!

Weapon that everyone wants

John and Ares waited outside of the convergence room, where Santino was having a conversation with some clans from Germany. A business talk, Santino asked for a little bit more of territory than he was allowed to have because these representatives claim to be more powerful than him. Which in his eyes is not true. And it isn't.

They are just more cocky than they seem.

They asked for more weapons and some of his men in exchange. Even mentioning some of his best bodyguards, Ares and John. How dare they ask from them?

"I'm sorry. I won't give my best people." Santino said with a fake, restrained smile. "Then I'm afraid we don't have the deal." One of them said, having a bit more thick German accent. "You asked for weapons, too. I have grenade launchers-" Santino started but was cut off by another.

"Mr. D'Antonio. Your best weapon is John Wick. How did you even manage to get Mr. Wick? He worked for the Tarasovs, didn't he?"

Ah, so they wanted that weapon. Not actual weapons?

"He did. Let's just say he changed his mind after a while." Santino replied, trying not to show just how annoyed he was getting. Their looks. How they mocked him with those smiles and eye rolls of arrogance.

The one that asked him hummed in response, fidgeting with a pen he was holding. "A bigger territory for you, Mr. D'Antonio... for the Camorra, isn't necessary. Not now." They were ready to end the meeting, but Santino wasn't done, yet.

"It is necessary. We can have both clans work together again." Now, Santino seemed more nervous. Shit. He let them hear it in his voice. "Then give us your people. Give us John Wick."

He is absolutely not doing that. "No." Santino sighed, slightly shaking his head, "I won't do that." He glared at them. "Don't you have enough men?" He asked, fixing his tie out of habit. "We do." Another simply answered. "Then how about something else?" Santino suggested. However, they didn't want to listen.

"We're sorry. We don't have enough time for this." They literally stood up to leave, and Santino knew he couldn't do much. "Oh and Mr. D'Antonio, we hope everything stays well with your people. Especially with Wick."

Santino didn't like the sound of that. Didn't like anything about it. The fucking disrespect.

The fact they shaked hands and tapped his shoulder to disrespect him even more. Oh, it made Santino's blood boil.

John and Ares watched and nodded at them when they walked out of the room, Santino walked out last, and they both could see how he was not pleased at all.

'No?' Ares signed with an empathic expression. Santino looked at them both and just shaked his head "no".

"We're done here." Santino said, putting on his jacket that John gave him. John had a bad feeling, these people were up to no good, and he knows that. John was ready to grab his gun, but Santino called for him.

As they walked towards the car, Santino had already made few calls and was cursing in Italian, which was nothing new to Ares and John. "We're going back to New York this evening. They can't be trusted." Santino said as he got to the back seat.

Ares is the one driving one of his big cars, John next to her, looking at Santino on the rearview mirror. "What did they want?" John asked softly, the car started.

Santino sighed and rubbed his eyes before answering, "Something I can't give them." And John nodded.

During the whole car ride, Santino was quiet and looked pissed off, looking through the window, however making eye contact from time to time with John through the rearview mirror.

John had a worried look in his eyes, and Santino definitely knew that look. He looks at him like that every time something like this happens. One part of Santino wanted John to be next to him so he could calm him down. He's gonna be this moody the whole day, and he doesn't like that about himself.

John is the only one who manages to calm him down.

It didn't take them long to realize they are being followed with another car. "Cazzo. Are they seriously following us?" That made him even more angrier.

What was even their point? Just out of spite? Probably.

John already had a grip on his gun, "Do we stop and take care of them?" John asked, looking back. "Please do." Santino said. It would be nice to watch them die to a weapon they want.

Ares smiled at him through the rearview mirror in agreement. They need to blow some steam off.

Stopping the car next to an alley, John and Ares already got outside and started shooting. Santino watched them. Watched the way John put bullets in their heads like it was nothing. He could watch him in action every day.

And he does. Every chance he gets, he does.

Surprisingly, this was only one squad that was sent after them. Well, they were sent to their deaths.

"Good job." Santino told them as they returned. "Just one squad." John said, "And amateurs. This didn't take long." Yeah, it was done quickly. "I could tell." Santino looked a bit less pissed off, and John was glad.

"I'm not giving them my best weapon." Santino said quietly as John walked by. "That's what they wanted?" John whispered. "Yeah." Santino replied, fixing John's tie that got loosened.

"I wouldn't work for anyone else." John said, giving him a small smile. "That's what I want to hear." Santino was ready to pull his tie, to get him closer.

But got interrupted with Ares clearing her throat. 'Seriously?' She signed and rolled her eyes. Santino huffed a chuckle, letting go of John's tie. "Don't look if you don't like it." He also just wanted to see her reaction. "I like you, too. Don't worry." Santino laughed a little, patting her shoulder.

The rest of the car ride seemed to finally be a bit more relaxed. Yet, Santino seemed to be lost in his thoughts, again. He looked worried at some point. John wondered if it was still about this meeting today or something else. Or both.

Santino doesn't seem to catch a break.
