-I just really really loved the fan animations were bro got to time travel to the older fnaf animations and fuck em up!!!! Causing them all to glitch out like hello PEAK!?!?!?! No im not biased to rabbit characters with whiskers shhhhh... SHHH...

-Because I know all those animations already and it's like omg omg OMG Glitchtrap kinda expanded my music taste imma be fr... Fnaf autism is so bad I omfg I only listened to fnaf songs and the only time I listened to other franchises songs is because someone animated fnaf over it... like yeah I was an animation meme kid but even then I only remember the lyrics and titles to songs if I saw fnaf on them (cringe!!!!) -I think Malhare is the cooler name but the Glitchtrap name is cool too because when the names end in trap like this it makes me think they're like warrior cats adjacent. So in this one they just fluctuate between either Malhare or Glitchtrap

-Also another reason he's my super fave is because my brain predicted it's gloop form!!!!

-Like no joke literally the same character I dreamt about during the early days before Princess Quest.

-Except mine was a shadow like the shadow animatronics. More wispy than gloopy. I think the reason I dreamt it was because Shadow Toy Chica and fan made shadow animatronics were getting popular!! But legit same character and colors!!!!!!!

-Just a big dark mass with purple eyes surrounding it like literally the same character my brain came up with and I'm just wow <3333 minus the fact my design had really big giant swirly white eyebrows

-However my Shadow Glitchtrap was kinda more wack to say the least. Like heheheh cuz Glitchtraps a fursuit there's no denying that I changed the dream design a bit. In my old Glitchtrap designs they'd have a zipper and so what would happen was they'd unzip and flip their insides into outsides to reveal the Shadow Glitchtrap thing which was hiding inside them.

-Like those plushies that you can unzip to reveal a different plushie design basically!!!!

-TBH I prefer Glooptrap because yeah!!!!! Amalgamation of hate let's go!!!!!! I think with how gloopy he is its just fun to draw I love the fact that the weird Glitchtrap blockers look like that it fits too much with my own preestablished AU lore.

-I feel like Glitchtrap turns into Glooptrap from like the seams of their suit. Like you see that each part the suit got stitched just turn black as black liquid pours out like ohhh that shit haunted!!!! Bursting outta the seams like oh this guy has no one inside they're all just black sludge!!!!

-In this AU specifically (The one with my millions of Vanny designs) is actually a spoof fnaf AU where everyone lives!!! Like I have 3 AUs technically one of them being the fnaf cast in my oc world where they become my ocs basically called Rabbit City. My other one which is my more serious canon adjacent fnaf AU where no silly stuff or shipping happens, and it's just more overall following my own formed understanding of the canonicity and the series of events with me trying to keep the animatronics more game accurate (I dont think ive posted any of that here due to me feeling like my style limits the nit and grit I wanna go with it). And this one I mainly post on here where everything is just silly and bends to my command and everyone lives because I love everyone <333333 Literally playing with my toys type AU where I do what I want which is why a million vanny designs are in this AU specifically. I usually tag it as this 🦭🩷🐇🐰🐇🐰🐇🐰🐯 because the original name of this au is self indulgent and I'm embarrassed but it's too iconic to change it.

-Glitchtrap in this AU is just much more goofy and silly infecting people like a zombie virus and possessing them for his own gain. Weird eldritch horror that came out of a fnaf fangame. Anything goes in this AU so if I wanna make Glitchtrap a mind controlling zombie warlock wizard so be it!!!! Sorry I love zombies soo much you will have to take this trope out of my cold dead hands!!!!! I love rot!!!

-That's why it's wrinkly because they too me are like a rotten banana (Even though his associated smell to me is lemongrass). Imagine squeezing a banana still with it's skin on. That's how I imagine bro turns into glooptrap if they didn't open the zipper in time. Also because I love the design trope of rotting and withering sue me. I love when the flesh sags across the body. Wrinkles are great bro theyre so real!!!!! Also because back then people kept drawing him as skinny as a twig??? Even though they have fat??? So I made them fatter mostly because like I love the gloop part of it hiding inside <3333

so, you wanna get into vocaloid?

('vocaloid' is a subculture at this point, so i will be referring to it as such.)

just like any subculture, getting into vocaloid is the most difficult part. so, in order to help newcomers (and maybe a few returning folk!) i have a few things you can do in order to expand your horizons and find some new producers and songs!

go on your preferred music app and listen to random playlists! everyone has different tastes, and chances are, you'll hear something that you like and can add to your own playlist! in my experience, most playlists are actually pretty different, so you'll have some fun for sure.

if you like rhythm games, there are quite a few with vocaloid songs/covers. bandori has a dedicated section, and project sekai is literally called 'Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage!' on EN. project diva costs money, but you could always pira- i mean save up!! yup!! there's also a demo!! who am i kidding you can pirate it

speaking of playlists and pjsk, have you seen those 'guess the vocaloid song' or 'songs i want in project sekai' videos? it may seem a bit weird, but those are also an option if you don't want to look at playlists for whatever reason. surely something will catch your eye (ear?)

and remember, the 'culture' part of subculture matters! a culture relies on community! so if you have mutuals into vocaloid, ask them for recs. that goes for irl friends, too, and they can gush about their favorite producers in person! it's delightful! personally, my asks are always open for anyone wanting recs.

eventually, there will be a point where you don't need to search that much for new songs thanks to the absolute depths of fandom you're in. when that happens, remember to always give new songs you come across a try! worst thing that can happen is you don't like it and click the back button!

Every Record I Own - Day 814: Nomeansno You Kill Me

Nomeansno's debut album was a tightly coiled amalgam of art punk and jazz fusion, but it didn't wield the power of their later records. Between 1982's Mama and their 1985 EP You Kill Me, the band would expand beyond the sibling rhythm section of Rob and John Wright to include guitarist / vocalist Andy Kerr. The addition of guitar added the layer of grit and distortion that had been missing from earlier Nomeansno records, and the band fully embraced that newfound abrasion with an EP that demonstrated their full sonic menace while also establishing their stylistic and aesthetic stamp.

The EP opens with "Body Bag," a long-form, tension-baiting, quiet-loud-quiet rocker that harkens back to the bass-and-drum interplay of Mama, but adds jagged spikes of guitar in the chorus, giving the song an amplified sense of resolve and potency. From there the band launches into "Stop It," arguably the band's first foray into a sonic territory that could be deemed "hardcore." Set against a rock shuffle, the band sneers and spits its way through a Black Flag-style rage anthem. It's here that we get the first taste of Rob Wright's burgeoning distorted bass tone. With the gain knob cranked for maximum crunch, you can hear Rob dig into the strings to the point where they growl with aggression.

Side 2 opens with "Some Bodies," a song that harnesses the band's newfound vitriol with their signature off-kilter rhythmic configurations. There weren't a lot of punk bands playing with polyrhythms back in the 1985, but for Nomeansno it almost seemed second nature. There's even a riff in the song that is eerily similar to the main riff in Botch's "Vietmam."

This EP and a few of the other Nomeansno records in my collection were given to me by a college friend the year after I graduated. He was a year or two younger than me, and he had a radio show at our campus station KUPS (90.1 FM, if you happen to find yourself in the North End of Tacoma). I was a Nomeansno fan only so far as I owned the Jello Biafra collab album and a cassette copy of The Day Everything Became Nothing / Small Parts Isolated And Destroyed, but I was excited by the gift. This means I wouldn't have heard You Kill Me (or Sex Mad or Wrong, but we'll get to those at a later date) until at least 2001. But there are more than a few little musical moments across those records that parallel parts of my own songs. There's the aforementioned "Vietmam" riff, which we would have written right around the time this EP came into my collection. But there's the "womb / tomb" rhyme in "Body Bag" that I'd also used in Botch's "I Wanna Be A Sex Symbol On My Own Terms" at least two years prior. There's another inadvertent parallel to a Botch song on Sex Mad's "Self Pity," but we'll discuss that later. And a bunch of Nomeansno-isms would later appear in These Arms Are Snakes material, like the descending chromatic guitar solo in "Body Bag" being deliberately swiped for the pitch-shifted bass solo in These Arms Are Snakes' "Mescaline Eyes" (sorry, Andy).

I won't lie, Nomeansno's aesthetics sometimes leave a lot to be desired. I don't love the cartoony album cover. But Nomeansno rubbed off on me in other ways. There are moments across their records that seem a little silly, especially given their musically and lyrically heavy moments. But that irreverent and sardonic twist contained its own kind of malice---taking something child-like or frivolous and setting against something dire and dripping with existential dread somehow gave Nomeansno an added layer of human dimension. They could be theatrical, but they weren't cosplaying as total misanthropes. The humor almost made the serious material even heavier. The band also had a fascination with human sexuality and confronting sexual mores (see: the band's name, "Some Bodies," "Body Bag," etc.) that would continue to pop up in their music. And you could see the parallels in Botch's often absurd and/or salacious song titles (see again: "I Wanna Be A Sex Symbol On My Own Terms," "Frequency Ass Bandit," "Saint Matthew Returns To The Womb").

I wouldn't have cited Nomeansno as a primary influence back in 2001, but I already appeared to be walking a parallel path, and I would deliberately tread into their territories in the following years.

Hii! Apologies for the later reply, I've been taking care of my sick partner but thank you for the recommendations. And I'm nowhere near sick of song suggestions, I love finding new music so thank you for letting me expand.

Stockholm Syndrome had such straight to the point lyrics which most of the time I'm not a fan of in song writing but it very much reminded me of Stalkers Tango by Autoheart or Masochism Tango by Tom Lehrer. Cause right at the beginning it does talk about hostage situation but the lyrics. "How can you take whats been given? There is no one who's been stolen." Very much Para being like "yeah you did take me however, I'm cool with it. I don't wanna leave." (And like a little kick of Guns + Ammunition by July Talk but idk why)

You really said "I'm gonna give this hoe a run for her money" I cannot find any lyrics for A Hex so I had to listen very carefully to it. This song is reminiscent of ABA's trailer to me. "A consuming flame of jealousy" I can very much see it as her inner mantra, wanting to be positive and healthy yet "feelings of inability clash inside of me" aka still having those pesky envious and rageful thoughts. "Violent and hateful, I'm jealous and spiteful. A feign of cruelty runs through my core."

When I read this title, I missed old PATD so fast. However, unlike PATD the title actually correlates to the song. This is Testament in the embodiment of song form in ABA's character arcade. Couples therapy song.

Okay Gomez Addams. If I had a character playlist for him, this would definitely go on it. Which leads me to now realize. Honestly, when/if Para does become human. ABA and him would be a very much toned Morticia and Gomez couple. This is a Para song to me. Because ABA is very much the leader in the relationship (cause he's a key) and the song very much encapsulates the singer as the follower. Doing as his lover wishes, and even the scars or other hearts don't matter. "My heart, my liege, my second birth." Ties into how Para speaks about how before he met ABA he was very blood hungry and manipulate and as we see. He seems very different from that, he changed since being with ABA.

If this was on my playlist. I would definitely put it near the top. Before the couple went through their changes as people and as partners. Because it's very unhealthy. "Make you fight for me and pray I pay the bills. Make you die for me and watch your body spill." In all honesty though, this is absolutely how their partnership started when ABA found Para.

Anon, Saber. You very much have a taste of music that I kinda avoid. Not cause I think its bad or anything, I just don't normally click with it. I kinda call it banjo music, where its whimsical yet serious toned. And it was kinda fun to think of ABA that way.

Do you have any favorite fish themed songs?

Fun question! One of my favourite songs at the moment is Hauki by Ultra Bra (means Ultra Good), it’s a song about pikes and I listen to it on repeat a lot because it’s so good!! It also happens to be a Finnish song, so I’m not sure how much non-Finnish speakers will like it, but I can provide you with translated lyrics if anyone wants to give it a listen.

Another fishy-related, or perhaps biology-related song I like, is These Hallowed Wings by The Stupendium! It’s a really fun song about Blathers from Animal Crossing and the museum he has and it has nice biology references, including fish! The music video has a plenty so if you’re a biology fan I also recommend that one :)

Not truly fish-related but moreso fish-adjacent is many of Cosmo Sheldrake’s songs, he features this cool old biology illustration-looking fish imagery in some music videos and that makes me think about fish when I listen to some songs by him!

hello !!! i created a playlist for you and for anybody else who would be interested! I made it in spotify and then transferred it into a youtube playlist as well (I need to go through it and make sure everything transferred correctly, so the youtube playlist might be a little wonky right now) so that it'd be available on both platforms :]

there's a good mix of music genres and eras I think, and a decent-ish mix of popular artists and some relatively unknown ones. these are all songs that I've (me or others in the system) listened to and enjoyed at some point - I went through my(/our) playlists and compiled as many songs as I could!

I actually don't listen to musicians and albums very much lately; I mainly hop around to different songs or listen through other people's playlists, so it's always kind of difficult for me to choose any favourite artists LOL, but I do really love Genesis Owusu and would consider him to be a favourite of mine! Celeste was a more recent find and I love what I've heard of her so far. I find myself listening to a lot of Eazy E and enjoy the sound of his stuff but I don't know if I'd say he's a FavouriteTM of mine. I also enjoy The 5th Dimension a lot when I'm in the mood for 60s/70s music!

Obey Me cast relationship with MC songs (2023 edition)

Found this post when scrolling through my old posts from 2020 and decided it would be fun to give it another crack now that 1) we have a LOT more canon material to go off and B) my taste in music has expanded past just grandma songs (not that I don't still enjoy grandma songs ofc) Also adding Diavolo, Barbatos, and Solomon since I have a better grasp on their personalities now. (Well, only barely with Barbatos, but we'll get to that lol)

Warnings: mild spoilers for lesson 16 of the original game in Belphie's, some of these songs use gendered language when talking about the significant other (implied female: Mammon; implied male: Levi, Asmo) *this doesn't mean MC must be that gender in those scenarios*

Lucifer: Honey Moon by Birds in the Airport. Okay, starting off on a somewhat angsty note lol. But look me in the eye and tell me I'm wrong. "...tear open every exit from the maze inside my mind" like come ON that's literally what MC does with Lucifer. Whether he'd verbalize any of this is another question entirely, but also isn't the point here.

Mammon: Fair by The Amazing Devil. I hemmed and hawed over this for a while, tbh. Wasn't sure if it was a lil too soft for his outwardly prickly ass, but I eventually settled on "this is him but he sure as hell isn't admitting it any time soon". The trouble with tsundere characters ig. But anyway he's a dork and the trying to make his partner laugh when they're mad at him felt very on-brand.

Leviathan: A Shitty Gay Song About You by Ezra Williams. I've associated Levi with this song for quite a while now. It has it all. Goldfish, self-deprication, pining, it's great. Oh, for Levi to lend me his sweatshirt tbh.

Satan: Cat Serenade by Beetlebug. Absolutely adorable song. It has cat metaphors, it has pining, it has the whole "I used to never open up to anyone but here we are", it's just super Satan in a lot of ways.

Asmodeus: Freckles by Kevin Atwater. I mean it's just adorable, first of all. But second of all, the theme of actually falling in love with someone for real when you're used to more casual relationships is pretty fundamental to Asmo's relationship with MC.

Beelzebub: Strawberry Mentos by Leanna Firestone. Idk maybe this is a bit too straightforward but even outside of any food references, it's such a sappy, sacchirine love song that it really does feel Right for Beel, big babey that he is.

Belphegor: Grace, Anatomy by Homemade Haircuts. Okay, while this isn't really addressed in-game, if he ends up in a relationship with MC, the shit that happened in the attic is gonna be weighing pretty heavy on his mind for a long time. Between that and his general abandonment issues, this song is an excellent reflection of his feelings about MC (at least early on in the relationship), even if most of it is stuff he would never actually say out loud.

Simeon: Chai Tea by audrey. Yeah, yeah, I know the title sounds more Barbatos, but the song itself is just so cozy and easygoing. (Of all the possible words to describe Barbatos, I think "easygoing" is about the last thing that would come to mind). All the other love interests are a bit more... uh... intense. Whereas this song is literally just being incredibly sappy and drawing a quiet comfort from the other person's presence even without talking about anything in particular.

Diavolo: Touch Starved by BB Bean. This doesn't require much elaboration, I don't think. The title says it all. Like honestly. "I'm just tired of the bubble, I just wanna hand to hold" is deadass how he acts in every surprise guest (at least in the og game, less so in nightbringer lol). Just wants to feel normal smh

Barbatos: A Wistful Waltz by Teddy Hyde. Okay, I need to apologize to Barbatos stans bc I struggle so much to figure this guy out (which I suspect is the point, but it makes it damn hard to come up with headcanons for him). But based on my tenuous grasp on his personality and... odd dynamic with MC, I think this should fit the bill. It's subdued but with that underlying intensity that I always seem to pick up on with him.

Solomon: Painting Roses by Dresses. I actually don't have much explanation for this, but Solomon in Nightbringer especially is just. He's such a fuckin disaster, man. (I actually was torn between giving this song to Solomon or Satan, but I ended up going with Sol in the end)

Since the JackieShauna songs post, I have to ask what artists you think the girls would listen to. Shauna fs likes Folk and indie music, that is my only firm stance lmao.

honestly I don't really think that you can judge someone's music tastes from their personality all that well. i can make guesses but it probably wouldn't be all that accurate?

shauna's def the alt/indie/folk type. we know for sure she likes Liz Phair and nirvana, and Jackie says she has a bad taste in music at one point so shauna gotta listen to stuff that isn't what Jackie considers mainstream. Shauna listens to sad girl music all the time for sure. feel like she'd love the smiths and noah kahan for sure.

Jackie is a pop girlie i feel. i think she'd expand her horizons in college but I think her parents put a lot of pressure on her to be someone she's not and she feels like that's the only kind of music she can like. she also just genuinely likes it. modern au Jackie has her name as like Jackie (Taylor's Version) on social media for sure.

nat seems like she would claim to only listen to like nirvana, smashing pumpkins, the smiths, radiohead type music. secretly she'd enjoy like pop or something but wouldn't admit it even if you had a gun to her head.

lottie listens to like everything I feel. idk if this is canon or fanon but she loves mazzy star for sure. it's become a part of her character for me. i can't explain this one but I feel like she listens to like "manipulator" music or whatever for sureeeee. (i think that's bs but yall know the kinda artists I'm talking about?? didn't wanna list them all)
