These are my favorite facial expressions from this page.
I also really love the concept of Frisk initially feeling nothing for the monsters in the underground during their first run through but over time learned to love them. I hope I’m interpreting this correctly as I haven’t played Undertale in a while.
Also, on an unrelated note, how are you feeling today? I hope you’re doing alright, Akane. Here’s a mitosis cookie I made in biology a few days back. It reminded me of this AU, because um, MITOSIS. I think the top one’s supposed to be metaphase and the bottom is anaphase. I’ll let you decide what to do with this information :)
Getting these faces JUST right was extremely important for me. They are really what underline the whole backstory and exchange between Kris and Frisk so well. Now that I think about... it EVERYTHING about that page was extremely important to me. It is my favorite one so far.
The whole idea of Frisk not really caring, or rather learning how to care THROUGH the guidance of the Player and Chara ties back to the Pre-Runes mini comics (check the pinned masterpost.) There you can really see how... unusual Frisk used to act. Concussion or not, a lot of Frisk's behavior there is almost robotic. It's kinda like watching a 9-year-old baby figuring out what it means to be human. In a VERY weird way, through all these resets the Player and Chara raised Frisk into the person they are now.
Also holy crap, your Oreos mitoasted!

Transcript: It's kinda weird that sans remembering no-mercys is specifically so popular in fanon when those are the runs that NOBODY, flowey included, remembers. Its...it's a plot point that we can only 'true' reset at the end of no-mercys and pacifist. Scary angst idea for sans if he HAS to remember resets and reloads would be him remembering every reset except for no-mercys (and true pacifist if your brain is massive and swag).
The world literally gets erased and remade at the end of it. Unless the frisk/player/chara character Is only reloading/resetting after they kill sans I dont know why there's such a precedent that he would remember them.
Like... imagine an au where sans can remember resets so he knows to be wary of the kid, he remains friendly on pacifist but his only idea of how bad it can get is the queen alphys, aborted no-merycs and other endings and follows the script accordingly, except one day, and he has no clue why, they do a pacifist run and then just.. stop. Suddenly the kid is wary of him instead of the other way around, and suddenly he realizes their was a timeline that happened that he has NO clue what happened in. The exestional terror of knowing what he thinks are the worst endings could have been so much worse and he has zero clue what happens in them. Idk how to explain it I'm just rambling atp.
Flowey fans are the only ones who play around with the idea of flowey remembering everything except for no-mercys ie: they’re the only ones in this fandom having fun /jk /jk /jk. (Sans not remembering you're pacifist is also something I want to play around with in a fic. If he HAS to remember I'd like him to be in the dark about a few things, flowey can remember pacifist tho, he deserves the angst of getting to the surface only to have it ripped away from him much more + it'd fuck him up more than it would sans. Chewing on him)

There's a lot of interesting stuff about Deltarune.
Like, for starters, we know the mysterious voice is Dr. Gaster. Like, most of us who dived into the UT mysteries (against instruction no less), know who it is.
[ They're known as the Gonermaker in the game files. We know who the goners are associated with. ]
With some additional confirmations by information seen: ... Not just confirmed fourthwall breaker, but also, confirmed fourthwall hijacker. ... He's not the Narrator, he is One of the Narrators. More specifically, he's the overarching Game Mechanics. SAVEs, Profiles, Character Creation... That's overarching Game Mechanics. ... Unlike the other entity, the good doctor is optimistic that we'll make good choices and a positive future. A lot like some other skeletons we can name. ... Name you or your character creation / the vessel, Gaster, and the game kicks you. We see you there, Doctor.
The game is run like its an experiment. The good doctor makes comments, and wants to see what we'd do. Its not like it affects him at all, we can just reset, and nothing will happen to him.
He encourages good decisions, but he's not going to stop us if we decide to go... a Weird Route.
( Good chance that, like how Flowey and Chara can mess with our single save, Gaster can mess with all three of our Profiles. Maybe our decisions across three timelines will have a tying effect )
( I should also point out, that from UT's perspective of "One save per Soul", we're in control of Three Souls--. Who the other two are, beyond the Red Soul is unknown, because the other two heroes clearly don't have souls or profiles we control. Maybe there's a spiritual analog to Chara and Frisk, and maybe, Kris is actually been a separate entity? It would make sense... )
The Knight is associated with Hands, just like the "Man who speaks in hands". So we're looking at someone associated with Wingdings. Which means, the Knight is, or serves, our fair doctor. Since they clearly don't serve any of the kings or queens seen in game.
The Knight, or perhaps another Knight, is associated with Eggs.
How do I know that? Because when you put Eggs in UT's Wingdings format, you get three hands who point in the direction a Chess Knight would move.
( I did not discover this on my own, other people found it first, and I take info from thems. )
Given that DR / UT runs on Homestuck rules of Symbolism, every pedantic stupid little detail counts. The Knight is associated with Eggs.
Eggs are treated akin to Homestuck's pumpkins, in that they are odd anomalies that, if you acknowledge, they vanish. Well... Temmies know eggs.
But it does sound like the Eggs act like Goners...
If the Knight isn't Gaster, they're certainly someone whom Gaster is acting through.
This could mean that the Knight has been following us out of sight, observing what we'd do. And uh... giving us an egg in our trying times.
( Gaster himself was treated as quite the Easter Egg in Undertale after all. But its rude to talk about someone who's listening. )
( Hm... Isn't a form of spaghetti noodles called Egg Noodles? )
( The wingdings translator doesn't seem to like that combination very well. )
( DON'T EAT THE NOODLES, THE TASTE IS UNDESCRIBABLE )
The phone calls sound like Entry 17. They also sound like the Memoryheads from the True Lab.
But given how Gaster, so far with what's seen, doesn't seem to be... well... overly malicious. He wants to see what happens, and might give an oddity (like an egg), and thinks that C and D are blood types, considers our party to be very very wonderful, and tends to particularly neutral about things (He'll give us choices like Love and Hope, but also Fear and Disgust, and seems to acknowledge that we can like something but we can also have a problem with it too, without much issue. )
And clearly isn't affected by anything we'd do, persay...
... So chances are low that he's the mysterious someone that's on the Phone Calls, either ours, or Spamton's. And while he'll give a tyrannical king a good thrashing, and maybe open up a world-ending-portals...
( The guy did make something that would shatter him across time and space, and his UT stats are in the hundreds to thousands, its in character. )
... He doesn't seem to be the kind that would willingly try to break someone's mind, cause Spamtom or Jevil.
( Otherwise, Alphys would've lost her own gourd just reading his notes. )
So that means, someone associated with him, but certainly not acting in his interests, is making phone calls.
Now this next bit, won't quite line up with the above, and is probably just total bullshitting on my part.
Because now I'm looking at metanarratives and breaking the FIFTH wall (IE, referencing prior works).
UT and DR take inspiration from Toby's Halloween Hack, yes... but they also take inspiration from Homestuck. UT's very areas have been pointed out to resemble Derse (Ruins), The Land of Frost and Frogs (Snowdin), The Land of Wind and Shade (Waterfall), the Land of Heat and Clockwork (Hotland) and Prospit (The judgement hallway). Leaving the Land of Light and Rain and New Home, as odd ones out.
We've got two royalty, a Queen and King, not unlike the Black and White Royals of SBURB.
In DR, the Queen of Chapter 2, definitely rings as being based on Roxy Lalonde of Homestuck.
And in UT, we've got a sweaty horse guy with muscles, who is enough of an Equius Zahhak ref, that Toby Fox joked bout being sued by Andrew Hussie.
In Homestuck's COLLIDE, we have an outright Undertale reference with Davepeta's battle against Lord English. Time and Heart mixing to have an Undertale feel. (and of course, Toby did work on COLLIDE's music. )
Even in Detalrune, the concept of becoming an more idealized self (going into the Darkworld to be a Hero) is not unlike godtiering, and Hometown isn't unlike John Egbert's old neighborhood.
So taking some metanarrative analysis isn't out of the question here. Its just, probably not going to be very exact.
... But its something to think on.
So.
In the line up of Papyrus and Sans, and knowing where DR / UT's metanarrative roots lie, they do, in fact, line up with another group of characters from Homestuck, and by extension, a much older work of Andrew Hussie.
And that work is Problem Sleuth.
( I would know, I actually got into both Homestuck and Problem Sleuth, because of Undertale and doing a metanarrative analysis like this... and ended up landing in that fandom so hard, I started doing classpect analysis and greater symbolisms there. )
So... Give you a hint.
I'm a member of the Midnight Crew~
If we make this fun little metanarrative symbolism and its snarky horseshit work...
That means that Sans is an analog to Clubs Deuce and Ace Dick, and Papyrus is an analog to Pickle Inspector and Diamonds Droog.
[ Papyrus' rough draft did have him with a fedora and being a rather nasty customer, not unlike our fedora wearing hooligans here. ]
If we take Hearts Boxcars / Hired Muscle as odd ones out, due to being the Heart (and thus, important to a different set of characters in UT / DR).
[ And let's face it, they weren't very important to Homestuck / Problem Sleuth either ]
( Unless anyone wants to say there's a super secret fourth skelebro. )
That leaves Gaster with Problem Sleuth and Spades Slick. One was the main hero of one adventure, and the other one of the main villains / antagonists / universe enders of the other; both are leaders of their subsequent groups. ... Slick himself was an Archagent and is considered a Royal of Derse, with a direct connection to the Queen.
That leaves Gaster with our Spadesy boys.
What a coincidence that the Spades are our focus cards in Deltarune, huh?
[ Wingdings a code, Aster is both a typeface and a Flower and a Star, and the Spades are associated with Knives and Swords. In game terms, Spades Players are associated with Easter Eggs, of which Gaster is one both meta and in-story... ]
[ How very, very interesting... ]
ADDENDUM:
Who is the one who disposes of the Vessel, the other Entity here? Well, while we can point the fingers at Chara, there is, in fact, another associated character who is capable of silencing their speech patterns and even changing their typing quirk, who is powerful, who is associated enough with Gaster to get away with pulling a fast one. ... And who knows, that "Nobody can choose who they are in this world". After all, everything is just, reset in the end, right? Its Sans. He might even be the one making the phone calls, and talking to dark crystal holders. After all, the characters he's talked to have an indirect connection to him. ... But its more than a little hard to think of him as a villain. I mean, the goofy pun guy who plays pranks? Who's vocal pattern is a cut and edited voice clip of Patrick Star from Spongebob? While the villain thing is an idea, I also doubt my own claim here. There's gotta be someone else we're not seeing...
If we translate Gaster's usual title, "HIM" into wingdings, we get a hand pointing down, an open hand, and then a Bomb.
"Down below, reaching out, Disaster awaits?" ...At least, that's the closest I could symbolically translate. For all I know it probably means "LOOK DOWN, HIGH FIVE, NO ITS A BOMB"
The man is associated with Giygas. Which is funny... Doesn't Papyrus have some design details that link him to Earthbound's Starmen?
I'm just sayin'...
Its something to think about.

How would every skeleton deal when Frisk/Chara asks them to come with them to spend a whole day at a Haunted pizza place like Chuck E Cheezes, or Showtime Pizza Place?
I only did the one that are comfortable with hanging out with their Frisk/Chara.
Undertale Sans - He's the one scaring the hell out of them. Sans didn't believe for one second that the place was really haunted and was a little bored until he noticed the kid jump when he dropped something on the floor. Now Sans keeps hiding and making scary noises just to watch them panic and flee from one room to another.
Undertale Papyrus - He's just sitting on the floor, not sure what the hell is happening or why Frisk wanted to come here exactly. It is clearly an abandoned building? Isn't it illegal or something to be there? Are you trying to drag him into trouble? Because he can tell when someone is trying to drag him into trouble. He's not even that scared. Well, maybe when Frisk said there were ghosts around but then the only thing you found was Mettaton in a closet??? Are you trying to set a date between the two of them? You know he can do that by himself right?
Underfell Sans - He's not too enthusiastic about that but the kid seemed really excited about that, and he's not a loser so he went anyway. Hated the experience. He swears one robot kept staring at him so he attacked the robot, then Frisk laughed at him for being scared so he got mad and teleported away, leaving them here. He then got destroyed by Toriel for abandoning the kid in the haunted restaurant and he had to go fetch them. He's pouting the rest of the day.
Underfell Papyrus - He went only because he felt bad leaving the kid on his own. And also because when they asked, Toriel gave him the "say no and I swear you're not going home with your two legs" kind of look, and that terrified him just a tiny bit. He's not sure what's going to happen. That's clearly a place for kids. They're running everywhere around the place and eat horrifying bad-quality pizzas, and there are these weird robots on stage. He's confused as to why it's supposed to be haunted. That's when, turning around, he found a robot right behind him, staring through his soul. Edge screams at the top of his lungs, making everyone stare at him. He's bright red after that and doesn't want to leave his table. He doesn't care if Frisk chokes on some random toy, he's embarrassed himself enough for one day.
Fellswap Gold Sans - He accepted only because he knew that would piss off Toriel and Asgore to know their precious little human likes him. Wine doesn't really care what's going on other than that. The place looks abandoned and not safe, and Chara is telling him something about a yellow rabbit killing people or something like he cares. Well, until, you know, the yellow rabbit shows up and tries to kill him to have Chara. Wine kinda couldn't ignore this anymore and beat the rabbit to death, only to find it was already dead??? Uh. Oh well. With how bad Wine destroyed its legs, it's not getting up anyway.
Fellswap Gold Papyrus - Chara said it would be fun but he's really not having fun right now. There are weird noises and weird robots, and the kid won't stop telling him how a lot of people died there. The second something touches him, Coffee runs to the exit, screaming in terror at the top of his lungs. He's not a big fan.

hazbin + undertale thoughts
how many of you currently in the hazbin fandom also existed in the undertale fandom?? I feel like there's so much crossover potential. I feel like the characters would gel really well together, the undertale gang would blend into hell so well TIBIA HONEST
Some of my headcanons if they crossed over:
Mettaton (EX) dancing with Angel Dust and them being fab together
Sans chatting with Husk at the bar as if he's Grillby
Papyrus and Sir Pentious being aspirational goofy weirdos together, making contraptions and being adorable and lame
Undyne and Vaggie comparing spears and bonding over being badass lesbians
Frisk running around with Nifty and Keekee like chaos gremlins
Charlie being mothered by Toriel and healing from it
Alphys sitting awkwardly in a corner and being approached by Lucifer and then them geeking out about special interests together
Alastor watching all of this through narrowed eyes but then being like "hmm all these new sinners are interesting" and then he has like a weird rivalry with Gastor when he eventually shows up lmao
Sans being WAY more OP than Alastor and it being HILARIOUS cause Sans is so sloppy and unrefined and Al hates it but then they eventually team up together in a fight against smth else and it's SUPER FUCKING COOL
Napstablook just floating around the hotel and making Angel jump all the time
I could literally come up with these forever honestly. I wanna so much draw crossover art so bad PLEASE

Yknow, despite how it is impossible by all Ingame options, I wonder how a neutral route with *ONLY* Sans (and Asgore ig) killed would look? Would he count enough as a boss monster (NOT a Boss Monster) to push it from a Queen Toriel ending to an Empress Undyne ending? How would Alphys react (She lost one of her closest friends, but she still has MTT and Undyne around.)? How would Papyrus react (Would he go full angst mode and try close away his heart? Would he become even more of a people pleaser, trying to make sure he doesn't repeat whatever mistake he made with you again? Would he go into denial mode, trying to find Flowey to set things right with him either finding him or not based on what Frisk choses after the FloweyX fight? So many choises), especially with how he seems to Know Something he doesn't let on. I'd imagine that (provided it's a Queen Toriel Ending) Undyne wouldn't be thar affected, sad that Papyrus lost a brother rather than sad that Sans died (she never is close with Sans. She doesn't hate him, but she doesn't know him as more than "Papyrus weird brother" and "My sentry that works the ABSOLUTE bare minimum needed"). I don't think mettaton would appear or be affected, leaving the call pretty limited. So we have Papyrus and Maybe Undyne, with Papyrus probably being... kinda miffed that everything is going along the same, as if Everything hasn't changed. Bonus points if it's Post Dates, leaving a pretty aimless Undyne moving into Sans room, trying to fill a void that she never can. It isn't some threat she can suplex or teach to cook, it's the world being unfair.
(This also would give a pretty Unique Undyne state, being halfway between her "I don't like that you had to kill Asgore, but it's what you had to do" mindset and her more common "You betrayed me in such a soul crushing way it'll affect how I love forever" mindset in most Neutral Endings. I can imagine her actually trying to rationalise it, because the human only killed Asgore (sucks but she Gets It), and... Sans. The easiest enemy, one too weak to make it into the guard, and almost too weak to be a Sentry (Sans would have no reason to reveal Blasters, and his magic would barely scratch the TRUE HERO of the Underground when Karma is factored in. All she would see is surprisingly complex patterns that don't deal even a tenth of her hp). So surely, they had a reason, right? Why else would they do it?)
Forgive any bad writing it's literally 2 AM rn where I am
can't not confess I've thought about it too, but it IS really hard to extend as a concept because there's just... really no way for sans to die outside of the NM run. and I don't mean logistically, i mean character-wise he is so defined by his survival. by his Being There as everything falls apart. the final girl last man standing in the story. so the whole concept immediately falls apart.
undyne wouldn't personally grieve him, seeing as they didn't really know each other, but she WOULD still feel his death on her conscience as she does with every other monster killed in neutral runs. plus, there's her friendship with papyrus to emotionally aggravate things.
papyrus would definitely go into denial. he would be annoyed about him vanishing all of a sudden, then it'd turn to worry, then as his worries become more and more plausible, he'd shut out all rational thought about the subject and pretend everything is alright. i like the idea of him reaching out to flowey, but he'd try to explain his plan while also comtradicting himself all the time in order to never say outloud "sans is dead. we need to fix this"
betrayed undyne... yeah this is where it falls apart again, since you'd have to reason why sans would die (or even instigate a fight at all) in the final corridor during what has so far been a flawless pacifist run.
buuut pushing past the visceral resistance to the concept. i can easily see a scene where the betrayal pushes her to lose it and seek revenge like it does in normal neutral runs, and her looking to papyrus for training help/human destroying plans. and just... meeting a Wall of denial. that would be a harrowing talk. something people don't mention enough is that papyrus sees himself as sans' caretaker as much if not even more than sans does towards him. a world where sans is dead is a world where he failed his brother. it would devastate him. so he clings to anything not to think about it/delude himself. and here comes undyne ready to shatter that fragile hope. it would be a horrible moment between them
but yeah. everything aside, sans would straight up just not die lol.

Been sick these past few days so just continuing to replay Undertale and got greatly amused at the knowledge difference between a blind pacifist Frisk and a blind genocide Frisk.
Pacifist Frisk wakes up with a voice in their head and an evil flower calling them the wrong name. Which is also the name they hear in memories that aren't theirs whenever they fall unconscious or almost die. So, weird situation to start with, but whatever. They move through the underground making friends and at the end of it all the monsters helpfully explain the whole story of Asriel and the first human. Then they go to the true lab and see the tapes and at this point even if they haven't realised who the voice in their head is they know Chara's entire backstory and who Flowey is and why they keep calling Frisk the name of a dead kid.
Meanwhile genocide run Frisk with no prior resets wakes up mad as hell and decides to make it everyone's problem. Like pacifist they get a voice in their head, an evil flower calling them Chara and some of Chara's memories whenever they almost die. Unlike pacifist the semi possession doesn't just remain verbal this time. Chara takes control to walk through puzzles or attack enemies from time to time. As this is Frisk's first run they would still have no idea who the hell is semi possessing them, but the evil flower is convinced they're Chara and judging by the voice in Frisk's head, evil flower might be right.
They reach the old royal house and Chara straight up says Hi hello its me Chara and shows Frisk around their old house. So Frisk now knows who's semi possessing them and that they used to live in this house, but that's kind of... It? No monsters to explain the Asriel backstory but instead this damn evil flower pops up AGAIN and begins trauma dumping on Frisk because he still thinks they're Chara. Which you kind of are at this point but you're also Frisk so. Rude. This flower is talking a whole lot about how he and Chara used to be partners in crime in the past and how you're best friends so now Frisk now knows that a) ghost kid aka Chara lived with monsters and b) Chara was friends with an evil flower.
Then they kill the evil flower, ghost kid becomes not so chained to the inside of your head, Chara turns out to be a ridiculously powerful demon and kills Frisk.
And in this situation Frisk still doesn't know a single damn thing about Asriel, Flowey, or what their whole deal was with Chara. But this demon kid is demanding their soul in exchange for the world back so that's that I guess.
I'd love to see a fic where genocide Frisk and pacifist Frisk got a chance to talk and genocide just sits there slowly realising they convinced Chara to murder their brother who also happened to be the prince of monsters. Which also explains why Chara is the teeniest tiniest bit mad at Frisk if Frisk chooses to wimp out on destroying the world after Chara just killed their own strongest tie to it. Genocide Frisk would get their mind blown by all the lore they missed out on and pacifist Frisk would just be like sucks to suck. That's what you get for skipping out on dialogue you filthy stat maxxer.

Still wild that I was in this fandom since 2015 only to be called a proshipper over liking Charisk some months ago because apparently they are considered adopted siblings
(ignoring the fact that, if you believe in the narrator theory, Chara and Frisk interacted for a while before Frisk was potentially adopted at the end of the pacifist run, that the player and thus Frisk can choose not to go with Toriel and thus not be adopted and that Frisk can flirt with Toriel ... which would be weird if they already sw her as a mother)
While Chasriel was popular all these years, even tho Chara was adopted nearly directly, that Chara and Asriel canonically see each others as siblings
Frans was also popular despite the fact Sans is older then Frisk, while we don't have a canon age, he is probably an adult since he used to work at the lab (he also calls Frisk kiddo but that's a thing a teen could do)

*Responding to the Frisk ask*
Oh, it's a wonder that Frisk didn't do a geno run, or reset the one they did before it was too late. It's a wonder that they decided to return after escaping the barrier and freeing their siblings souls. What made want to forgive monsterkind? What made them think monsterkind was worth saving?
Well... Being haunted by someone that hates humans but loves monsters can change someone view of things...
It also helps that Chara does see a bit of themself in Frisk...
But Frisk didn't come back to free the monsters… They just wanted to go back to Toriel… But a certain fish wanted some help first with a letter…
Side note: They don't consider themselves has siblings. More like really close friends or distant family members. Because if they did... A thing that I hinted in 2 posts would be weird...

Undertale/Deltarune FanComics
I put out a post for some UTDR comic recs, and I've decided to compile them all here, both so that I can easily access them as I make my way through, and also so that anyone else who is interested in it can also check it out :D I've provided brief descriptions next the ones I could uh quickly find descriptions for or knew personally, so if you notice one you know that's lacking a descriptions, tell me and I'll add it.
Also if you think this list would benefit from further categorization in some way, let me know! Right now it's a bit of a mess and overwhelming lol.
I'll also be updating this with new (or old lol) comics if anyone has more suggestions!
Edit: I’m making a collection blog, @utdrlibrary, that way one can go through the posts for which comic sounds interesting, instead of scrolling through a messy list lol. I’m still working getting the comics from this post up on the blog

Someone needs to do an Hollow Knight and Undertale crossover. More under cut:
Both Frisk and Ghost end up falling down a hole into the deep dark of a mountain.
They look at each other and have a silent agreement that they need to work together to find their way out.
Flowery doesn't know what to do with Ghost and gets blasted with a Shade Soul before Toriel needed to save them. Flowery actually curses as he runs and Toriel doesn't know how to react other than to say that Ghost shouldn't hurt others.
When met with the dummy Frisk hugs it and Ghost just stares until the dummy decides to leave its body because of how much it unnerved it.
Ghost rather have the snail pie, but butterscotch cinnamon doesn't seem to bad.
Ghost doesn't need to hide for Papyrus so is introduced as Sans new bug buddy.
Ghost didn't attack Toriel because she had no intent to harm, but everyone else is fair game and Frisk has to keep Loading to get him to stop attacking on sight.
He doesn't attack Papyrus either because he thinks he is similar to his brother for some reason. Just give off that aura.
Undyne is the only monster that can kill Ghost, and Frisk has to Load to bring him back, but HE WON'T STOP ATTACKING HER! RUN AWAY DAMN YOU!
Ghost also accidentally finds Alphys nsfw art of Undyne and her anime waifus when he destroys the bed. Frisk covers his eyes and their own in an attempt to get away from it.
Ghost doesn't understand why they are being friends with Undyne now. Wasn't she trying to kill them before? And did? Multiple times? Wait... How did the house catch fire?
Ghost is confused when he dream blades Napstablook all he sees is space and the ghost just laying there. He also can't absorb him.
Ghost is also confused by Mettaton. What is with these strange bugs without masks and cooking badly? What is that device that exploded on him? Did they put exploding jellies in them?
Why does Sans just show up in random locations? Why did he put hotdogs on their heads? What is even a hotdog? Why did he take the pair of them to a fancy restaurant place?
Ghost thinks the King looks too polite to kill or stab. Not like the one that fathered him. There is no cliff to punt him off anyway.
Finally! He can beat that flower all he wants! Wait?! Why is he a weird furry bug now? Wait?! Frisk why are you hugging the weird furry bug?!
He sees the sun for the first time in his life and he just wants to stab it. It must be the Radiance"s power on this world! Frisk tells him the sun is too far away. And its a planet filled with gas? What is a planet? And why is the flower in a pot now? Why can't he stab the flower now? He can't stab the squishy bugs either?!
He gets adopted as a sibling by Frisk and is taken in with Toriel. Chaos ensures even more.
#undertale#undertale au#hollow knight#frisk#ghost hollow knight#chaos#why is this longer than I intended?#yes ghost goes stabby stab and frisk has to keep stopping him#he doesnt learn his lesson till undyne#but tries with asriel again anyway#he also wants to fight sans but the skeleton eludes him

Normally, I'm not the type to send an ask (I'm not particularly active on Tumblr, so it feels a little weird sending a msg over), but the comic has been an inspiration for me for months now (and this week's one has really hit the feels! xD) and I figured it wouldn't hurt, especially when I've been through the ringer a couple of times recently myself.
I hope you heal well on your hiatus, I've had a good relationship with taking walks in [personally significant location] whenever I need to cool off, or if I'm at home I just listen to the same music on loop until I fall asleep. (Not that all stressors have those as good counters, but still, whatever works.)
I don't want to ramble too much (a bit late for that, I know), so my point is: well wishes your way and all that!
On a lighter note, I also hope Chara's doing alright because they clearly were also impacted by the abort-geno run if that expression is any indication...
Thank you so very much guys. It's kinda hard for me to properly express all my gratitude, but I really mean it when I say it means a lot to me.
I will definitely use that break wisely. Also because I didn't completely recover from my cold and now it's back with a vengance.
EDIT: was at the doctor's today, turns out I got a FUCKING BRONCHITIS
Little fun fact about that panel with Chara specifically:
In the first draft of the script Chara was supposed to look back over their shoulder at Frisk with an angry and disappointed expression. And Frisk used to say "Chara has become a lot angrier since then. I don't blame them".
But after thinking more deeply into it, with the whole counter thing that Chara does for the Player, it made more sense for Chara to be disturbed by themself going along with it and even encouraging it. It ties into their change of mind regarding their own plan way back when.)

Transcript: The fact that toriel is often made out to be quicker to anger than asgore annoys me so much. Her anger is the slow burn disappointed type . Which One of them declared a war and couldn't take it back when they regretted it? Not toriel!
I also think it takes away one of the most interesting parts of them both where asgore is the more guilty and remorseful party because he regrets his anger and how quick he is to lose his temper, where toriel is the opposite when she's mad it doesn't consume her the way it does him and it simmers In the back of her mind. She's not over what happened and is still mad about it because she's still mad at what happend. Asgore regrets his anger and where it led him while toriel lives with it. This adds to their dynamic where she is still (rightfully) mad at him and he let's her because he knows she's right and that he deserves her scorn. They only start to make up in post pacifist when they look back on their time with chara and asriel she's not actively harassing him or avoiding him she just doesn't love or like him very much anymore and the Fandom often erases this part of their dynamic to make her out to he the aggressor in their divorce and it's like..no they are basically strangers to each other post pacifist and after she says her speech to him they move on.
Fics where asgore 'stand up' to her are weird to me for this reason because her arc in undertale is her standing up to him! And calling him out! And asgore in the game both knows she's right and accepts it as he's so much more empathetic to her than the Fandom understands since he does still love her and he knows he wronged her in a way he'll never be able to make up. Undyne also knows asgore is wrong at the end of pacifist so she's very much also on toriels side she only disagrees with her on neutral runs where frisk killed people since undyne cares very much about every monster and even one of them dying (toriel included) is enough for her to hate us even more. Undyne is more than just asgores loyal lap dog and treating her like she needs to constantly defend him when he's a grown ass man is so icky to me like she's smart enough to come to her own decision about toriel and while she respects asgore she also trust his judgment! She's not going to come to his defense when he both doesn't need it and she's on the lady criticizing hims side!

Entirely inconsequential and very likely improbable undertale theory time!
Chara, given the Narrator!Chara theory is true, was the one to run away during the Undyne fight.
Evidence:
In a neutral run, Sans' Judgment Speech includes the following line of dialog ...
... even if you never run away from a single fight during random encounters.
The only character you HAVE to flee from is Undyne in order to get her to Hotland. It's also one of the few fights where Sans is physically present to witness (with the others being Gryftrot and Shyren, both of which can be ended through sparing). With no other examples, this has to be the running away Sans is referring to.
But, why in the world would Frisk be smiling?
This is the most dangerous, difficult battle Frisk has been in so far. It's the only boss fight, to that point anyway, where the attacker has genuine desire to see you dead. On top of that, Undyne comments on your actions throughout the battle - your sparing, your pleas, your determination. There's no way that she WOULDN'T comment on a smile unless she somehow missed it (say, you had your back to her).
On top of this, Frisk has never been described smiling except in reference to Chara during the genocide route, where both Monster Kid and Flowey comment on their "sick" and "creepy" expression, repeatedly telling you that the situation isn't funny- implying the iconic smile.
It's also been suggested that Chara tends towards smiling in stressful situations, so perhaps they realized that sticking around was bad news and tried getting Frisk to bolt by opening the FLEE option.
But getting past speculation, here's the slight bit of evidence I took and ran with:
The narration only speaks in the first person when Chara is the subject, sometimes in white text.
The ESCAPE dialog, though typically basic, will occasionally read:
...entirely in the first person.
This is also the only time the RED soul does anything interesting, unlike the others, who each have special properties in battle. (BLUE has gravity, GREEN heals and keeps you in a closed space, YELLOW shoots, PURPLE traps, ORANGE punches and moves, CYAN is still until its safe to move). It's possible that DETERMINATION, or RED, has the ability to use MERCY in battle or, at the very least, FLEE, given that the soul changes to have legs.
With all this put together, there's at least some chance that Chara stepped in during the Undyne fight to allow the option to flee. Perhaps the soul resists Undynes' magic in some way? After all, she has no reason at all to turn Frisks soul from Green to Red, especially after the first time they escape. Maybe it's just too difficult to keep a constant hold on them, so she relents for brief periods until she can gather her strength again? This would explain her frustration with Frisk running away, but her apparent inability to do anything about that as the fight progresses. It would also explain why Sans mentions Frisk smiling when fleeing her.
While this is mostly just a fun idea that adds to Frisk and Chara's dynamic and makes a funny scene, it could have further implications. For example, it might imply that Frisk's choices are given to them by Chara. This might explain the repaired MERCY button during Asgore's fight. It would also suggest that Chara is constantly supplying Frisk with helpful information on the underground and the monsters, including peaceful pathways to resolve conflict (because honestly, most people encountering a weird alien creature trying to steal you soul would not immediately think that Flirting with or being cleaned by them would lead to success).
What do you think? I personally highly doubt this was intentional and was just a throw-away line for dramatics on Sans' part, but I also like to think that the dialog and set designs are very literal and reflect a wider world/ story. Please let me know your interpretation!

realized i should possibly make a pinned post at some point only 5 years into running this blog. i'm so good at bios
hi! my name is risk (but i'm fine with krisp), i'm 34 and white and use any pronouns but she. this is my deltarune sideblog; my main is at @arceusbeta .
things you'll find here include my fics (check the krisp fic tag), my theories and ideas, various headcanons, and me just saying "kris dreemurr" repeatedly for some reason. i also reblog fanart i see and like, and sometimes i report on fandom news sporadically and badly.
i have a few general rules and guidelines under the cut, plus a sense of what you can expect here!
so let's get the big things out of the way. do not interact with me if:
you misgender any of the they/them users in utdr
you ship minors and adults, or ship family members (asriel and chara are family)
i would prefer to not receive asks about, discuss, or post:
kris/ralsei
kris/berdly
king spades (especially 'king spades is a good person' stuff)
artwork where kris and frisk are bright yellow (i will sometimes reblog things w the official sprites)
anything abt romantic attraction from players to the teen characters (or really any selfshipping but like. i'm 33.) this one isn't really problematic i just am the last person to go to for it
you'll note if you stick around that my general theory slant is towards kris being the most important character in deltarune and i tend to speculate in that direction. accordingly, i tend to think kris is the primary knight, kris is the narrator, and there is no third entity. this isn't really like stopping me from reconsidering (i now have weird music-based theories on chapter 2's fountain) just "what if it's chara" usually won't get much of a reply from me
i take player theory as the default and will post about it pretty regularly
i post a fair mix of angst and humor, especially kris-focused angst. i do tag all snowgrave related stuff with #snowgrave if that bothers you any!
i reserve the right to block, delete asks, not answer asks, etc but will mostly only do so if you like really violate good sense
my icon was commissioned from my partner and is for personal use only. my banner is just an edited in game screenshot
