Jake Peralta and Spencer Reid are weirdly similar characters from my perspective - both detectives with boyish charm that appeals to their older male superior (Raymond Holt for Peralta, Jason Gideon for Reid), who have abandonment wounds caused by their fathers leaving at young ages (age six for Jake, age ten for Reid) and fans choose to write about those fathers as not only having abandoned their roles but also having possibly abused their sons.

Both Jake Peralta and Spencer Reid are prodigies in their fields of policework (and in Spencer's case, everything else as well) which allows them leeway when it comes to their social difficulties (Jacob's lack of organization as shown by his messy desk, mistrust in the initial dress-code, and lack of punctuality, Spencer's socially awkward nature leading to the show hinting at possible autism, which the fandom has taken and ran with).

The similarities don't end there - both detectives are shown to have two superior officers they have somewhat close friendships with (Captain Holt and Sargent Terry for Jake, Jason Gideon and Aaron Hotch for Reid) as well as cordial office relations (Charles Boyle is Jake's fanboy and best friend, while Derek acts as an older brother to Spencer, and Jake's bond of trust with Rosa can be paralleled to JJ making Reid the godfather to her baby.) Everyone in both workplaces makes work their life, to the point where Hotch gets divorced due to his loyalty to the job whereas Sarge takes on less responsibility on the job to keep himself safe for his twins.

Disventure Camp Trailer 2# came out today!

It honestly improved its animation and voice acting so much I can’t wait for January 18th!

Anyway here are my predictions after looking at some others:

This strongly reminds me of Total Drama World Tour, so maybe they might be going to different countries for challenges. Although someone said it was going to Mexico? (Where Lake and Rosa Maria went to) so they might just be picking them up back to camp.

Next, I reckon Fiore is trying to reconcile her relationship with Alec after what happened in Season 1. And if it works, it’s going to be hard to kick them off the game.

Ellie and Gabbyyyy!!! I love them so much, but they seem worried or something. We’ve also seen this background many times before with the different contestants, so it might be like a QnA of some sort? To start tension or to answer fan questions? I don’t know to be honest.

And Lake being a third wheel 😅, James and Aiden are so wholesome and cute though! I don’t really think we need to worry about here love birds.

And Ashley with Gabby and Ellie! I reckon she’s trying to make friends and alliances so she won’t be an early boot.

Also the bi icons in jail, and sad Derek. I think they escape jail tho.

I also think the first challenge will be jumping off, or it’s like Chris Mclean’s way to the camp. Like after like daughter.

And Yul being his typical self. He was funny though.

Also at this scene it’s either Jake and Miriam are mad at Ellie and Gabby, or Tom. But by the cut of the scene I can’t tell.

i’m glad you think, just like me, that they announced some of the cast as queer just for people to call them progressive and praise them. i’m fine with having a few characters not mention their queer identity and still be queer - i’m basically doing this with my own original story - because it can sometimes get exhausting to hear everyone outright stating their identity. it’s not in-character for everyone.

but when you have over half the cast never mention or show queerness then they just appear in the pride posts... red flag. trevek is a MAJOR example of fan service and stuff like this: they had zero chemistry, derek was always a dick to trevor, and now, somehow, for some reason, trevor is in love with derek AND we have a SECOND LOVE TRIANGLE. another few examples: huntessally never got together and never once mentioned queerness despite being set up to do both, and guess what? they’re portrayed in official art always together, with bi and pan flags respectively, despite never ever mentioning anything. karol was there for 0.2 seconds, but ONC realized they don’t have enough lesbians and forgot about trans and aspec people and decided to make her a lesbian. dan was probably made asexual just because his color scheme is purple, and emily is “part of the LGBT community” because the majority of fans hc-ed her that way so god forbid they are let down. they didn’t even tell us if she had a specific label, was unlabelled, or simply labelled herself as queer. what a slap in the face.

if you want to represent queer people, do it well. do your research. don’t make your characters gasp at the mention of a trans person (seriously what the FUCK). don’t include a kissing challenge because romance-repulsed/touch-repulsed people and/or aspec people simply could not do it. if you want to have a stereotypical queer character, that’s fine as long they have a personality outside of it and there is at least another character with the same label who does not adhere to the norm.

Top 5 favorite Disventure Camp episodes, what’s are your thoughts about them?

5. Disventure Camp Season 1 Episode 13: I was happy Miriam won the finale and the million dollars (Though I was upset Ellie lost, it was sadly karma getting to her. She had it coming.) Also seeing Gabby punching Derek was awesome and funny XD

4. Disventure Camp All-Stars Episode 11: It was literally the first episode I ever watched, and I loved it. Seeing everyone who got voted off getting another chance to return was awesome. The ending scene with everyone saying goodbye was touching (Gabellie and Jaiden parts were wholesome and sweet)

3. Disventure Camp Season 2 Episode 13: Seeing James win was awesome. I went from disliking him to loving the guy. And I especially loved him and Aiden making amends and becoming a couple. And no lie... the ending made me tear up since James wanted to use some of the money to help Sofia and Rosa Maria. (No lie, she was the mama bear of them all and she definitely deserved some of the money)

2. Disventure Camp All-Stars Episode 13: Seeing Gabby and Grett becoming friends was amazing and shocking to me (no pun intended) Yul getting voted off and dumped was the icing on the cake for me, hahahaha! The challenge was awesome too, seeing everyone becoming superheroes was badass (minus Alec XD)

Disventure Camp All-Stars Episode 19: Just seeing everyone in the Loser Motel and having a fun time was just... wholesome. Gabellie being the sweet couple I love, Hunter and Tess bonding, Alec and Fiore being the awesome Father/Daughter duo, Tom admitting he still loves Jakes and just... everything! I honestly loved that episode a lot!

Liliyan Danaus Info Dump Don't Mind Me (2/2) ;0

Making paintings is her favorite art form.

In different routes Liliyan would make a painting based off of the boy she ends up with, a kind of love language of hers. What makes it different from the other works she's done? These aren't just ordinary paintings, they are a collage of the feelings she wants to reciprocate to the person and a manifestation of all the memories she cherished. She'd overexert to capture those emotions. Rather than use art for the fame and all that she wants it to reach people and evoke emotion. Especially to the loved ones she holds dearly, she wants a piece of her heart to stay with them. (she's cheesy ik)

Cove's would be ocean themed of course with soft seafoam and blues like their home. It would also be inspired by the dolphin wind chimes she got him and it would have this melting effect while there are also some things that hint at their childhood growing up together. To top it all off she'd let him paint an empty space on the canvas if he wanted to, kind of like a way to say "you'd always be a part of my world" or smth like that. Cove would absolutely bawl his eyes out because out of everybody apart from her family would know how much art meant to her.

Derek oh sweet Derek would have a painting that themes around trophies and rewards cuz he deserves it so much. Like Cove's there are some references to the times they spent together. It would have some gold but I also think of adding some warm and comforting colors to remind Derek that he doesn't have to try so hard with her and that he's enough. Oh yeah she'd definitely practice face paint for him and his bros.

Liliyan was hesitant to even make Baxter one when he was only looking for a fling for the summer and really she knew nothing about him which makes it really hard. And Liliyan takes relationships seriously (platonic or not). Slowly but surely she'd think of a way to make a colorful painting out of this monochrome muse. Just learning about Baxter and seeing the layers of her initial thoughts on him unfold to something entirely different brought a new perspective on how she makes these kinds of paintings. After he left, the painting was left as an unfinished pencil drawn sketch and she couldn't even give it to him.

She loves hugs since it was the easiest way for her to show gratitude and appreciation to others when she was struggling to communicate as a little kid. The gesture then became a natural instinct of hers.

Favorite drink is root beer.

She is ambidextrous and gets double wrist paint from hours of drawing and painting oof.

Loves listening to 80s music

Has a biological aunt who took care of her temporarily when she was an infant until she had Pam and Noelani take custody over her. Her reason for this is because she was only 18 at the time with no parents and that she was a college student who could barely make any income. So she made the tough choice to hand Liliyan over to a more stable family. They reunite at some point and still keep in touch with a good relationship.

The walls in her room are literally her canvas, like she would paint flowers, animals, and landscapes Rapunzel style. Elizabeth's old room is no exception.

Celebrating Black Love

On this last week of Black History Month, and with February also being the month of love, I'd thought I'd highlight some YA romance that I've enjoyed the past year and some I'm looking forward to reading this spring. 

Love Times Infinity by Lane Clarke 

High school junior Michie is struggling to define who she is for her scholarship essays, her big shot at making it into Brown as a first-generation college student. Herbert Duncan "HD" Duck was born in San Antonio, Texas as the middle of five children. His father ran a steel company his older brother would eventually take over. Herbert however was more lurking towards the car industry. In middle school he already did everything that had to do with cars, and unlike his friends, he had no time to find a crush.

Then, in high school - 9th grade - his one year older sister Dana introduced him to her classmate Camilla, who was also a year older than him and whose parents came from Puerto Rico.

They quickly became a couple and got married even before finishing college. A few weeks afterwards, they moved to Bloomfield, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. Ten months later, their son Humperdink was born.

Herbert meanwhile put lots of work in the car company. He was wounded while fighting in the war, but recovered and only desired to get back to work. The company suffered (financial) loss in the war, including heavy damages on the main building, but Herbert worked even harder - up to 14 hours a day! - to remain in contention. This caused even his contenders to respect him.

Their second child would have to wait. When Humperdink was 13 - nearly 14, in 8th grade, and just like his old man, was the only one of his friends to still not have a girlfriend - Camilla was pregnant again, but shockingly, she fell sick. It became evident that the city life was too much to handle for the family. They decided to move to the countryside of Calisota - not far from Duckburg -, where Herbert was able to build some land. Humperdink helped his father, and a few months later, Camilla gave birth to a healthy son named Derek, their second and last child, born 14 years after their first.

Humperdink would still travel back and forth between the West Coast and Midwest for his job's sake, but it put lots of stress on him and after he got a heart attack from his 41th birthday, he finally took Camilla's advice and focused on farm life. Not too long afterwards, Humperdink's wife Elvira would give birth to Herbert and Camilla's first grandchild, Eider. Life was the best.

In the mid 60's, Herbert was heading towards retirement to spend more time with his wife. However, this phase began several family tragedies. It started with the death of their younger son Derek Duck - at age 30 - who was ran over by a bus, leaving behind a 3-year-old son called Derek Jr. And just a year later, Camilla became very sick - bladder cancer - and died short afterwards, making Herbert a widower. He moved in with his remaining son Humperdink, but a decade later, Humperdink himself died of a sudden through a heart attack. Having lost his wife and both children, Herbert, himself being in his mid 70's, was battling with depressions, but he knew God still wanted him to live. He moved to his favorite grandson Quackmore, however, Quackmore's tantrums caused him to move to his second grandchild Daphne. After Daphne's death through overeating, he moved to Eider, with whom he had a strong bond through his final years, which he spent with a really clear mind and joy in life. He generally refused to accept help and even helped his great-grandson Abner with his driver's license. On his 89th birthday, he got another blessing gift, when his first great-great-grandchildren, Huey, Dewey and Louie were hatched. He died two years later at the age of 91 and was buried next to Camilla, Humperdink, Derek and Daphne.

Y'know i will write down my headcanons for lines for the characters i like. Some might come from games, some just me imagining possible ideas not featured anywhere before. Bear with Ni.

Daisuke: V-mon → XV-mon → Wingdramon → UlforceV-dramon

I got this from CSHM actually. Seems a good match. Alternative idea was XV-mon → Grademon → Magnamon, but i don't like it much now… (also i love Ulforce V-dramon a lot…)

Ken: Wormmon → Stingmon → JewelBeemon → BanchoStingmon

This is the line i like the most. Alternative from CSHM: Stingmon → Okuwamon → GranKuwagamon

Miyako: Hawkmon → Aquilamon → Hippogriffomon → Valdurmon

Another possible in CSHM. I like this one, I adopted it from a friend!

Iori: Armadimon → Ankylomon → Groundramon → Cannondramon

This line is not possible in games, but i think it is in tcg but i don't remember now.

I'm stealing it from a friend. Also I suspect Shinkai Sara (from ReArise) was mirroring Maki in terms of role and partner. But I'm changing it to Chaosdramon to make it different from hers.

"Health Check!" sounds amazing. I'd like some of that.

Steve’s deskmate is ignoring him again, he’d thought they were getting along. He refills his water bottle at the station in the office hallway and tries to think of anything he’s done that would warrant it. It’s not a work issue, he’s pretty sure, because all of their evaluations have been almost glowing. He gets his part of the work done quickly, he doesn’t make that much noise when he’s in their shared office working on his other job, and he tries to get the dust off when he gets out of the vents. He’s jarred from the thought when Rosa tries to draw him into a conversation about a television show he’s never heard of. He extricates himself in his favorite way, by telling the absolute truth with a smile. “You know me, Rosa. I’m a 90 year old man.” She laughs and waves him off. He flips his water bottle in his hand with a showy toss and turns back to his office. Dirch is standing in his direct path and glaring. Steve winces. “Hey Derek,” Rosa calls, “Always good to see The Grants together.” His attention snaps to her for a moment and an insincere, closed mouthed smile before returning to Steve.

Ok, this makes no sense whatsoever without context, so have some bonus background info on The Grants below the cut

Old Grant POV. Poor, poor Analyst Derek "Dirch" Grant.

Dirch is a real archaic nickname for Derrick because I wanted Steve to call him something out of pocket. I regret nothing.

Agent Grant is pretty sure he pissed off Director Fury somehow. He doesn’t remember doing it, in fact, he’s only spoken to the man a couple of times, but Carter feels like a punishment for something. He showed up out of nowhere, said Fury hired him directly, and has been making his life complicated since. Grant Carter is a bizarre little mystery. This is not an opinion his other coworkers share for the simple reason that they’re not around him that often. Derek has to work with him directly, and thus gets a front row seat to the blue eyed boy wonder’s many idiosyncrasies. It wouldn’t be nearly as bad if the kid weren’t genuinely fantastic at his job, and also the at least two other jobs he’s invented in the footnotes and margins of his analysis, or if the two of them didn’t work well together. They’re referred to as a unit now, which bodes poorly for his chances to escape. They’re The Grants. He is, much to his chagrin, Old Grant, which everyone insists is because he was here first, and not because, outside of his jawline, New Grant looks like he should get carded at movie theaters. The thing is, that there’s something wrong with Carter. None of his pieces fit together. When they’re not assembling reports that, despite being the same length as everyone else’s, contain vastly more information, he’s drawing what looks like comics at his desk and trying to make the oddest small talk that Grant’s ever heard outside of Strike Team Delta debriefs. He should just write Carter off as a liar, considering how often his stories seem to directly contradict each other, but this is SHIELD, and Carter was hired by the Director personally. So he just has to put up with it when he drops really alarming anecdotes into normal conversation. Field agent anecdotes. Things that pint sized twenty somethings who say they had asthma as a kid should not have experienced, let alone survived.
