♡ Tips for being emo/scene!!! ♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🎀 Become familiar with the music
I don't think that if you're emo or scene that you have to listen to every single band and genre under those labels, but I would recommend at least being familiar with as many bands as you can as those subcultures are music based. While fashion is still important, it won't matter how good your outfit looks if you don't engage in what is the most important part of the scene.
🎀 Check the kids' sections of thrift stores
If you're on the shorter or thinner side, then you should definitely check the kids sections in thrift stores because you can find things like cartoon merch that you wouldn't find in the adults section. This is especially helpful for if you're scene since most stores aren't going to carry super colourful clothes in the adults section.
🎀 Don't worry too much about not looking emo or scene enough
I'm fairly active on r/scene, and one of the most frequent kinds of posts I see are people asking 'Am I scene enough?' or 'Is this scene?' I think those posts really highlight an issue in many alternative communities, which is that people will focus more on looking like they belong in their subculture rather than dressing how they want. This is an issue because focusing solely on fitting into a style won't help you find your personal style, but rather discourage your individuality. The point of being alternative is to express who you are and be unique, not to look like everyone else, so when you put together an outfit you should always focus on how much you like it, not how emo it looks.
🎀 You don't have to be pale, skinny, white, ect. to be alternative
I see a lot of people ask if they're allowed to be emo or scene while being coloured or plus sized, and the answer is that anyone can be part of any subculture. Just because the most popular emo and scene influencers like Eugenia or Johnnie were pale and thin doesn't mean everyone has to look like them. During the Myspace era, there were also plenty of people with the style who were Asian, black, plus-sized, and more. Plus I'm half Asian and I'm obviously emo. Additionally, black emos do not have to straighten their hair. There is nothing wrong with embracing your natural hair and if someone calls you a poser for that, their opinion doesn't matter.
🎀 You don't have to spend a lot of money
Obviously if you have the money and you want to wear Demonia and Tripp, you can do that. But I've seen a lot of people say that they don't have enough money to dress alternative, and while that definitely does limit your options a lot, you can still get cute clothes by thrifting or shopping on second hand apps. Stores like Romwe, while not the most ethical way to buy your clothes, also have cute stuff that's on the cheaper side.

i need more fashion rants from you bc i love looking at new jeans fashion or closet accounts on instagram and i always want to buy everything they show !! and more brand recommendations BC YESSS I LOVE IT!!
im actually going to yap so much but i will try my best not to yap TOO much i genuinely talk so much ab things that interest me anyways
okay so i always stalk newjeans fit igs and whatnot to find brands of pieces that stnad out to me, one being yuminha just because of its cute and colorful design. i think yuminha has rly good pieces that add details to outfits i mean i bought one of their belts and i always wear it with darker outfits and my low-rise jeans so ppl can see it and it just gives outfits pops of colors
and i don't think i can afford this anytime soon and neither would it be accessible to ppl that... aren't newjeans, but paolina russo has such amazing apparel for the same reasons i listed for yuminha. they're just sooo cute and so complex yet fun and lively which i like a lot (ex: in their supernatural dance break one i think they wore it, but fact check me idk i can't remember the exact one)
there's also brands that are more known that they happen to wear such as polar skate co, jaded london, and ofc designer brands. idk like i don't shop for their exact brand usually, however, i like to use their fits as references. initially, i actually bought the how sweet album just bc yk... dani... adn it was my birthday, but then i saw the little photobook adn time to time i just look at it to take inspiration for fits but its quite cold so i cant rn... i think their best outfits were def during how sweet and supernatural like there's nothign beating that because you can take their looks and tone it down a bit or completely take inspo which i really like.
^for example danielle's outfit with the orange zip up and baggy jeans is so simple yet sooo nice and i have an outfit so similar it's just a different colorway. i'm also a big fan of the accessories and the shoes they wear so i pay attention to those, but i def purchase and save things according to the style i like because they def dress more feminine from time to time in contrast to me who... who dresses futch idk. i take a lot of inspo from minji fs.
also not newjeans related but i own one popeye magazine and i'm planning to buy more, they have a tonnnn of fitspo on there and the one i have has a ton of outfits from diff ppl WITH the brand; the magazine showcases outfits on people from montreal, london, seoul, etc, a lot of cool cities that have ppl with wonderful style.
i can't even lie my style is soooo basic and i'm trying to level it up. when i say basic i mean think of an asian male who listens to wave to earth and take their style and that's me... i fear... im like every other bitch i swear... today i literally went out in a gray hoodie, a puffer over it, baggy jeans, and timbs. my frineds were like 'you look like a guy lowk' so i fear that is what i give... but usually i just wear loose baggy clothes bc idk i like that style
anyways brand recs idek bro im broke i usually shop at h&m for most of my basics but ive been lookign to get thermals from uniqlo. i also shop at old navy sometimes and get a ton of other basics off depop and when i thrift (once in a blue moon).
ummm brands ive been looking at are cfierce, yuminha, rhinodickpill LOLLL, ummm basics on asos, ssense brands, calvin klein (bc of newjeans and also their denim looks good), and idk i just wander around pinterset and look for unique brands soooo and also i def look at a lot of japanese brands just bc i rly like the style and ALSO a bunch of french and british ppl idk but yeah
thats it idk i just ranted and stuff i can't really think of anythign else :-p

I am trying to figure out what to get my bf for his birthday. And I am especially struggling because I feel like he got me something really nice for my birthday (a full purple stone dishware set that is like 135 dollars (I looked it up because I have no impulse control he did not leave the price tag on) which was sweet because I previously only had plastic plates and obviously everything I own needs to be purple). But the only things I can think of for him are like little cheap things. I want to get him something nice but like anything nice that he would enjoy I feel like he’d be better off getting himself. Like he knows more about nice cookware than me so I feel like I have no way to pick out something that he’d like and use. And than anything with clothes feels out because sizing is hard and I don’t understand mens fashion. I thought like maybe a nice a wallet? But he has one that seems fun and idk how to evaluate wallets anyway.
I am knitting him a hat that he’ll hopefully like because he does wear that style beanie while hiking and camping sometimes.
And then I am thinking of getting him the conjuring 2 dvd because we watched the first one together and the second is available for streaming. And I keep protesting that it’s too scary for me ( I would not watch it single but it’d be fine for his birthday)
And then I was thinking maybe some sort of Japanese cookbook since he likes to cook and is currently obsessed with japan since we’re going in three weeks. There’s a cookbook by jiro ono on sushi that we watched his documentary together, but I’m not sure if he’s already read it. And then there’s a studio ghibli book that would be cute since we watched a lot of the movies together and will probably go to museum in Japan. But I’m not sure how much he really likes them, or if it’s more he likes them fine and it’s the narrow overlap of movies we both like.
And even then it’s like I’m getting him a bunch of little things and it feels like I’m being cheap but I also just can’t think of anything better. He likes cooking and outdoor things and horror movies and currently Japan but generally all things Asian. He likes good art and books but none of those interests making for easy shopping ideas! He seem doesn’t have any horror based decor so I probably can’t even go that route
I also need to get my mom a birthday present but she is much less stressful to shop for. (I don’t know what to get her either but there’s zero danger of even worlds worst present damaging my relationship with my mom even the slightest)

Pronouns : She/they
Sexuality: Im not sure exactly??... still discovering but I know that I like both sexes
Infp 4w5 / Cancer sun Taurus moon n Scorpio rising (I saw some doing not just the sun sign so i think it would be fun if i include all 3 lol)
Appearance: Im South East Asian. Around 5'2. I hv shoulder length black hair, black eyes and olive toned skin. My hairstyle is akin to the jellyfish hair. I rarely wear makeup and would just hv my bare face out due to its sensitivity to breakouts. And my clothing, its mostly modest/covering for academic places or just comfy and quick with any cool baggy tees i hv. Its my current closet, since i dont hv much occasions to go grand and i just wanna blend in with everyone around me lookin like an npc. But id love to wear more self expressing stuff in the future, to my desire. More accessories, colorful makeups and fashions like dark couquette/gyaru or so!
Personality: My personality, id say its two sided. I guess hv an open mind and easy going (to some degree ofc). A dream chaser and a listener. Sometimes (just sometimes), i can get my mind through a problem and stay grounded. Im also empathic? I like consoling with people and I appreciate the smallest details. I feel for people's struggle and I hold hopes in them. However, i can get moody, its so unexpected and intense that even im scared of it. I can be very quiet then, and dissociative. Id just want to be alone by that time to figure out my situation. Ive been said to appear gloomy or hard to approach too  If im pissed, im venomous. And im actually an anxious person, of all sorts of things. Self deprecating too, i almost forgot abt that. But if i feel suitable, i get funky and enjoy myself hehe.
Likes/Dislikes : I like visual novels, rhythm games and those with good storytelling; a variety of music genres that focus on melody, instrument, composing; local asian food; sleeping with plushies; arts n crafts; esoteric things; philosophy study; my friends; solitude and continuation; aesthetic or hidden values and uhhh nice, mannered intriguing people.
I dont like smelly people doe. People who are narrow minded icks me oops. Pls dont tryna barge in on me when im busy unless it helps. I hate the sun... And not getting myself tented after a long day. I dislike my parents as well, yikes. Worst of all, being opressed.
Hobbies : doll, bracelet making; drawing, online shopping, rhythm game arcade, reading philosophy works, uhh getting invested in random medias...
Anyways, thats my submission! If u do reply, tysm for the matchup!!!
Hi Anon! Thank you for the request! I hope you like your matchup!
In Obey Me, I match you with...
Tumblr media
Asmo is the best person to hype you up about wearing more self-expressing things. He’s great at putting outfits together and will give you honest and genuine feedback.
Doesn’t mind your personality changes. He knows what mood swings are like so he’s very understanding.
Please go online shopping with him! But set a budget because you’re both liable to get caught up in the energy and spend too much. But online shopping with Asmo would be so much fun.
Not great at giving you alone time but if you say you need some space, he’ll respect your wishes. While you’re enjoying your alone time, he’ll do a spa day or hang out with some of his friends.
Asmo loves your plushies. He thinks they’re really cute and, if you’re okay with it, would love to borrow some of them to sleep with as well. He’ll take good care of them and swaps them out occasionally so you’ve got a constantly rotating roster of plushies in your room.

(previous anon) thank you for the detailed answer. my knees have no cushion either! and yeah, my body does not move the way i want it to in a few ways. standing still for more than a minute or so quickly gets very painful, and the only way to mitigate it temporarily is to walk slowly or shift my weight from one foot to the other if sitting isn't an option. i have to sit when i bathe/do dishes/laundry. i've mentioned this to doctors in the past, but they just tell me to exercise more, which unfortunately is not ideal because exertion makes my base level of fatigue worse to the point where i can't keep up with my day job. i'll put a pin on seeing a physical therapist some time, though; i have been planning to look into my mobility issues for a while.
about dieting- i've always been fat, since i was a child, and i felt completely neutral about my own body. when i was a small child, it was seen as cute and a sign that my parents fed me well, but by the time i was in high school, PE class involved everyone getting their BMI measured and i was classified as obese (32 or so). ever since then, my mother has been obsessed with my weight and mentioning how worried she is for my health and how i should definitely be on a diet because i was "ballooning" (said with terror and pleading).
but i was kinda never sold on it? i have relatives who're huge into dieting and would post their gym and progress photos on facebook, but some months later i'd see them at reunions and they had already gained it all back. i even had a distant aunt whose heart gave out because she gained and lost so much weight many times throughout her life. when it came to weight loss, my stance has always been: what's the point of all that effort and expensive products/services if it's so easy to gain it back anyway? i just want my weight to be stable, not to keep going down. unfortunately, i live in southeast asia, where being fat is seen as "you're gonna have a heart attack any minute if you don't drop everything and lose weight right fucking now!!!"
if anything, the only thing that annoys me about my weight and general size/shape is that it's hard to shop for clothes and shoes in my size lol. specialized plus size stores are always more expensive, economies of scale, etc. i always gotta rely on hunting for foreign overruns or secondhand stuff since everyone's so small in my country :p
Oh god, I can't imagine trying to shop for clothes at our size (I think my BMI is also in the lower half of the 30s... not that I pay attention bc that's not what BMI was designed for) in an Asian country. It's hard enough in the US and over here, Asian sizes are notorious for "plan on buying at least one size up from your US size, probably two." I hav e enough of an interest in Asian fashion that I go looking occasionally and immediately have to laugh in pain at "size: XL waist: 112cm" type size charts. (my waist for reference is 50in/127cm)
You should definitely see a physical therapist if you can find a decent one (I have no advice for this, on account of there being an ocean between us, and also I myself have never actually used one). I only had immediate pain from standing during the worst of my Bad Hip period, but I have permanent back problems and can't stand for long periods without an assistive device (which in my case means... a heavy backpack as a counterweight. Lmao.)
Also, as far as fatigue goes, if your body is running estrogen as your primary hormone, get checked for anemia! I had horrific anemia before getting on T, and it was a definite factor in my chronic fatigue.
And, well, yeah, none of what you described with your relatives is surprising to me, as someone who has followed actual weight health science all my life as a survival need. Humans tend to vary by 5 or so pounds in either direction depending on various factors, but any weight loss of more than 10-15 lbs (please don't ask me to convert to kilos I don't have that one memorized) is like... it's medically concerning... unless the person is dieting! then it's fine!
Yeah, bullshit.
Good luck out there anon.

yesterday was a day of festivities and carnivals and some friends and I bought squid hats (aka it was a friend’s [two friends’ actually] 24th birthday and I kinda wanna make doodles of it later though I spent most of it with my eyes closed and wallet tight)
still ready to pass out and my feet are killing me between that and standing at work all day (with my bad shoes because my usual ones are soaked) but it was a good time
also
apparently they’re planning my birthday already (it’s in October) and there are thoughts of NYC so I might be Ny in NY, NY
also uh people with experience, what are good places to go in NY when you’re a nerd who likes hipster mangas and cute things and Gamecube stuff, also what are other good places for people who like things like pokemans and are varying levels of anime trash and other nerd stuff (I know of like Nintendo World but that’s it)

Baby Robins and Tiny Ladybugs Ch. 1
Okay, it’s been years since I actually wrote fanfics so let’s see how things goes from here. I’ve been reading a lot of Daminette and I think it’s really cute. It’s one of my favorite crack ships. (Yes, I get that some characters are ooc but you know what, this is just for fun, so let’s just enjoy it guys xd)
I give credit to @ozmav and everyone else who wrote daminette fics before this cause I probably read it and got very inspired. Y’all are amazing.
With that said, let’s begin~
(Let’s hope the writing makes sense and isn’t too rushed cause I wrote this at 3 in the morning)

Damian sighed. It’s been a few months since he had become Robin, a few months since his father had died and Grayson had taken on the role of Batman. However, that also meant guardianship over Damian.
It was not... a bad thing, so to speak. Under Grayson’s tutelage, Damian is learning a few new skills. However, his upbeat attitude and lack of firm resolve to end people will probably be the end of him. After all, Grandfather and Mother had taught him that lethal actions are faster and more efficient to end crime. If only Father and the fake heirs he had taken in could understand.
However, his heroic alter ego was not the reason for his annoyance. Currently, they were on a business trip in Paris. Grayson thought it would be beneficial for him to experience what it would be like, which Damian believe it would be. He was to inherit it (after he gets Drake’s name off from being heir to the company) once he was older. If only that was the case… No, he ended up being pushed aside, deemed “too young” by the business partner they were meeting. Now, he was stuck wandering around in the hotel.
Might as well explore, Damian tsked. Grayson wouldn’t mind. He knew Damian knew how to take care of himself. Turning around, he walked off, down the hallway. He passed by a huge room, seeing a short Asian woman and a huge French man set up baked goods. With no doubt this was the destination of the gala that will be held tonight. Before he could continue his thoughts, he soon felt a huge force rush into him and knock him onto the floor.
“S-sorry!” the girl in front of stammered. “Way to go Marinette, your clumsiness strikes again.”
“I would say,” Damian huffed. “Do refrain from knocking people over.”
“Here, lemme help you up,” the girl reached out with her hand. “I’m Marinette Dupain Cheng.”
“I don’t need help from elephants who cannot control themselves from running over others,” Damian pushed the hand away before picking himself up. “Your assistance is not needed.”
“You don’t have to be rude about it,” Marinette frowned. “It was an accident and no one got hurt. You should apologize for being mean.”
“I have no incentive to apolo-” Damian started before his ears was soon pinched and twisted. “What is the meaning of this?”
“Apologize,” Marinette demanded, earning a glare from Damian. “Maman says if you say something rude, you should apologize. So, until you apologize, I’m not letting go.”
Damian muttered a curse, trying to pull himself away, but damn this girl had a good grip on his ear and even tightened it.
“What was that?” she raised her eyebrow.
“...I apologize,” Damian muttered reluctantly after a few moments of failed escapes.
A minute or two passed before Marinette decided to let go, seemingly satisfied with his apology. Damain tsked before rubbing his ears, relieving it from pain.
“Anyways, you’re not from around here aren’t you?” Marinette asked, her expression no longer of annoyance, but of curiosity.
“I do not see the need to inform you of my status,” Damian huffed. “...but yes. My brother is currently negotiating a contract with a potential business partner and I was unfortunately seen as dead weight.”
“Well then,” Marinette grinned, swaying in place, “why not hang with me?”
“For what reason do I need to hang out with some hooligan I’ve never met,” Damian narrowed his eyes, “and someone that is not worth my time?”
“Well, it probably would be nice to have someone familiar with the city,” Marinette huffed in returned, crossing her arms. “and I so happen to be the perfect candidate, so not a waste of your time.”
Damian glared at the girl. She refused to budge from her offer to show him around. Sighing, he crossed his own arms and agreed.
“Perfect!” Marinette grinned, grabbing his arm. “Let’s go!”
-----
Damian had to admit. The girl was not as useless as he had thought. She did know her surroundings and gave him adequate info about each place. She showed him her school, the hotels, the Louve, the stores, the parks, anything that she knew, she ranted about in details.
And running around with her was surprisingly tolerable. Putting her first actions aside, she was not as rude or aggressive as he had thought. And she had even gotten him to open up a bit about himself as well.
“What’s your name?” She had asked him while giving him the tour. “Sorry, after all this, I forgot to ask.”
“Damian,” he replied. “Damian Wayne.”
“It’s nice to meet you,” Marinette smiled. “Bad first impressions aside. I hope you find Paris.”
Damian was a bit stunned. He wasn’t exactly polite either, but she still had put in some effort to ignore that and continue talking to him. She didn’t even have a big reaction after hearing his last name. Did she know about how influential his name is? Did she not care? She didn’t pry for a lot of information as well and left many things alone. Perhaps she was not that type of girl.
“What kind of places do you like to go to?” Damian’s mouth moved before he even realized what he was going to say.
Marinette looked a bit surprised, but took it in stride.
“I love going to the park or the museum to get inspiration,” Marinette grinned. “I love clothes, and I can’t draw well yet, but I want to be a fashion designer. There’s also a fabric shop I like going to cause of that.”
“Where’s the fabric shop?”
“Down the street over there! Would you like to come? It’ll be nice to have someone to go with.”
“Don’t you have friends who would accompany you?”
Marinette frowned and looked away.
“...I don’t exactly have friends,” she spoke quietly. “Chloe usually keeps everyone away from me that I can’t make friends.”
“Oh,” Damian simply said.
He inwardly cursed at himself. She says she’s being bullied, but all he can do is say ‘Oh’? He should probably do something. What did Grayson always do?
“You’re mistaken,” he fumbled a bit. “Since you’ve been gracious enough to spend some of your time to show me around the city, I guess you could say we’re more than acquaintances. You’re more tolerable than most I have met in my life.”
Damian felt his cheeks get a bit red before looking away. However, it didn’t take long for his attention to turn back when he felt her grab his hand.
“Thanks Damian,” Marinette smiled brightly.
He couldn’t help but notice her eyes were very vibrant and filled with life.
“It’s nothing to be grateful about, Marinette,” he replied, choosing to use her first name. “Now let’s head over to the shop. I only have a limited time before I must return.”
-----
“So, how do you like these crepes?” Marinette asked.
The two were at a small cafe, eating a bit of lunch. In an hour or so, they would have to return to the hotel they left. Damian, to return back to Grayson and Marinette, back to her parents.
“It’s adequate,” Damian shrugged.
“Are you sure it’s just okay, Damian?” Marinette smiled. “They’re one of my favorite!”
Staring at the food for a sec, he pushed his plate onto Marinette.
“You can have the rest,” Damian said nonchalantly. “I believe you would enjoy it more than I would.”
“If you’re sure,” Marinette pouted. “but you have to have my Chocolate Mousse.”
With that, they exchanged their food and ate them. Though at some point, they did steal the other’s food to take a bite once again.
-----
“That was good,” Marinette hummed. “Though I guess it’s time to head bac-”
Before she can say any more, she was interrupted by a shout. They both turned to the side to see someone running towards them. The stranger had dark baggy clothes and a hat covering his face. In his hand was a purse, the purse of the woman he just robbed.
“Stay back,” Damian started, but before he could continue any more or get into action, Marinette was already on the move.
She raced to the man and easily slipped under to trip him before wrapping her body around to restrain him. Her flexible and graceful act had Damian stumped and still, however the criminal’s grunt of surprised pain gave Damian a quick wake up call to get into action as well. As the man got up, Marinette slammed him down once again before grabbing his right arm and pulling it back. She then began leaning down to try to hold him there, but she was just 10 as well, too young and lightweight to keep him there. There, Damian went and kicked the guy in the head, knocking him unconscious.
“Angel, are you all right?” Damian asked, checking to see if there was any wounds.
“I’m okay..?” Marinette was a bit shocked. “Angel?”
“Ah,” Damian’s face grew red once again. “I apologize. Your behavior today, how kind you were after I was rude to you and how righteous and graceful you are reminded me of an angel. I won’t call you that if it bothers you.”
“N-no no!” Marinette stuttered. “It’s fine! I don’t mind! I’ll just find a nickname you’ll be okay with too.”
“That sounds fair,” Damian nodded before turning towards the woman rushing after them. “Mademoiselle, I believe this belongs to you.”
“Thank you,” the woman sighed in relief. “I wouldn’t know what I would do without this. Thank you both!”
-----
“I guess this is it,” Marinette smiled sadly. “Our only day we could ever speak or see each other?”
“Maybe not,” Damian smirked.
He pulled a napkin he took earlier and a pen he kept on him. Writing down his contact info, he gave it to Marinette.
“You can talk to me on this,” he told her. “Feel free to talk to me anytime about anything. Though if the talks end up being irrelevant or nonsense, I’d have half a mind to end it all.”
“Thanks for everything, Damian,” Marinette hugged him before walking off. “I’ll be sure to contact you soon!”
Damian nodded and watch as she disappeared from view. As the only person he had as company, she ended up not being as bad as he would believe her to be. And she had somehow managed to worm her way into his soft spot, certainly faster than how Grayson and Pennyworth were, albeit reluctantly so. Perhaps what Grayson was teaching him had a bit of meaning. There were more to life than just the legacy and what the League of Assassins had taught him.
“Little D!” Grayson grinned. “How was exploring Paris?”
“It’s none of your concern, Grayson,” Damian replied curtly. “Though it wasn’t intolerable.”

Serving up some LOOKS! I love Mylene's Ivan sweatshirt! Would you be willing to talk about what sort of style elements you use for each character? (If you already have and I haven't found it, please ignore the question, that's on me)
I mostly did this for Mendeleiev’s class back when Punch was starting Leave for Mendeleiev, and I did a small run down for how the Main 5 fashion will change in Scarlet Lady, but not Bustier’s class sooooo:
Marinette -[I’m copy/pasting from an earlier ask]- When she likes a color, she sticks with it. She has a versatile wardrobe, but pink must always be present. She has the hardest to nail style because she experiments all the time, but no matter what she doesn’t feel comfortable unless she has an outer layer. Summer, Winter, Shorts, Pants, she needs to the comfort of a jacket - for Tikki to hide in when her purse isn’t appropriate.
Adrien -[Also C/P]- Basic B*tch. He thinks he’s fancier than he is. Oh sure, his clothes are well tailored to him and fit well, but they’re basic as hell. Gabriel isn’t as “innovative” as he thinks he is. Most of his clothes have the Gabriel logo and he sticks to the brand…because Adrien has no fashion sense whatsoever. Oh, he knows in theory what works and can put an outfit together, but he doesn’t want to. If it were up to him, he’d wear tshirts with physics puns and cat themed jackets. But alas, when one is an icon…
Alya -[C/P]- Mom Vibes. Fashion is not her priority. She knows enough to do good for her figure, but otherwise can’t really be bothered. Flannels and jeans in varying heights and a snappy tshirt are all she needs. But she is drawn to things that remind her at least of superheroes or superpowers. Her ridiculous high tops with the spiky tongue? She thinks it makes her look fast. She’s also the one who’s going to embarrass Marinette by wearing trendy but “garbage” fashion: fanny packs, Jellies, ugs with sweatpants. Dammit Alya, you’re a beautiful human being, do you mind NOT dressing like a hobo on vacation?! (Secretly her favorite outfits are from Martinique, but she saves them for special occasions).
Nino -[C/P]- Precious trash goblin. Wash your shirts and the neckline won’t be so worn out! He likes graphic tees with his favorite bands and DJs logos on them (he’s partial to ones without the name of the band or DJ so he can find other fans) and prefers things to be loose. He’s also drawn to colors and he’s super chill when his “garbage” girlfriend rolls up to a date looking like she’s going to an amusement part with her four kids, because it means she can’t dump on him for not looking “put together” (she would never!). He’ll try to dress up every now and then for a fancier date or when Adrien manages to snag him a spot at an event with him, but it’s pretty clear he’s uncomfortable without his hat and headphones. He has a few Moroccan outfits that he brings out in the Summer.
Chloe - Expensive Fashion Forward Chic. She made a staple out of shaming anyone else who dared to wear her favorite color yellow over the years. She was extremely smug about being the first in her grade to experiment with makeup that she never bothered to get good at it. Her clothes are expensive with just a smidge of impractical - only someone with cash to burn would constantly wear white pants! She’s also the kind of person to put off dressing for the cold as long as she can- if she puts on all these jackets and layers, how will these peasants see my brand name clothes underneath?! A lot of her fashion decisions are based on long forgotten advice from her mother - gold over silver jewelry, always have something on your head, brand or nothing. She’ll only abandon a well worn trend if her mother directly contradicts it.
Sabrina - Nerdy, geeky, almost like she’s wearing a uniform. She’s preparing to be Chloe’s assistant best friend for life so she has to look the part. She’s long abandoned any hope of shining next to Chloe, so being flashy and showy is out of the question. Luckily, Chloe isn’t drawn to patterns, so that’s a field of fashion that Sabrina can claim for her own. Doesn’t matter where it is, something she’s wearing needs to have a pattern. Leggings are her favorite accessory and she’s taken to collecting Chat Noir merch (though it’s less out of admiration for the hero himself and more for her “role” with Chloe. It reminds her of the rare times when Chloe acts like they’re friends.)
Mylene - Bohemian, and a touch artsy. Peace is important to her and her vibe reflects that. She’s not super up for showing a lot of skin, but neither are a lot of girls in her class. She leans towards a muted color palette so that her hair doesn’t clash, though she usually tries to match one piece of clothing to some color in her hair. Her accessories are a bit childish and kitchy, like her monster head bead, and she has a huge collection of hair accessories, like bandannas and headbands. She has a lot of different passions with various levels of seriousness, so she’ll come to Marinette for advice on how to use her wardrobe to fit the level of professionalism she wants.
Alix - Sporty but on the lazier side. Fashion is such an anti priority. She’s the one Marinette will go to for her more out there ideas because she has no recoil to pants made of buckles or shapeless over shirts, but that’s as far as it goes. Her clothes are made to be weather resistant and easy to slip on (and so that her dad won’t be pissed if she wipes out and rips something). If it were up to her, she’d just shop out of thrift stores and pick out all the color blocked 80s windbreakers, but when your whole squad is held together by a fashion designer, you can only get away with so much. Her nicest clothes are made by Marinette for her professional races and competitions and her favorites have nods to Egypt mythology and history.
Ivan - Punk but like…beginners guide to punk. Let’s be honest, when you’re built like a brick house, shopping is hard - or at least not that much fun. Ditto when you’re a dude that just…doesn’t particularly care. Ivan has a bunch of cargo pants because they fit, they’re grungy, and they’re practical. SO MANY POCKETS!!! Beyond that, like Nino, he prefers to wear band shirts of his favorite groups. His hiking boots are the nicest things he owns and he has a few bracelets that he only brings out when he’s “dressing up”. The most colorful thing he owns is a hoodie/pants set from the Cartoon Monster Show that Mylene’s hair bead is modeled after.
Kim - Sporty and Serious. Sweatpants and running shoes. That’s the make of his wardrobe. After all, you need to be able to challenge anyone to a race at ANY TIME!! Dressing up for him means putting on a pair of jeans, and he’s pretty much always under dressed but also completely oblivious to the fact. Red is his favorite color and he’s partial to that one brand of sports wear that’s on his hoodie-shirt and sweatband. If something is waterproof (and therefore, sweatproof) he’ll give it a try AS LONG AS IT’S REEEEED!!!
Max - Geek Fashion. Max dresses like he’s already 65 years old, and with his best friend being Kim? He might be. He has invested in some good walking shoes because when your bestie is running off at any and every moment, you gotta do SOMETHING to keep up. His pants are higher up than most guys and his shirts are always tucked in. He prefers sweaters over sweatshirts and cardigans to jackets. We are comfortable in this house, not trendy!
Juleka - Electro Goth. Black is the main attraction, but she likes that punch of something neon - purple, green, even blue (Rose can tell she’s feeling romantic when she puts on some pink). She’s tall and likes clothes that accentuate that and she’s a fan of the details - shoulder cuts, lace inserts, epaulets. And despite covering half her face, she’s really into makeup (and she’s way better than Chloe). Does she have colored contacts? She’ll never tell.
Rose - Decora Kei is probably the best shortcut to describing her look, followed by Kawaii Fashion. Doesn’t matter if she burns to look at, she IS the embodiment of soft and cute! Obviously pink is her favorite color, bu she also likes pairing it with some other bright colors. Rainbows. Are. EVERYTHING. And she’s a sucker for bunnies and strawberries and angel wings ^^! How else is she supposed to have an amazing day if she’s not decked out in sunshine?!
Nathaniel - Basic but like Colorful Basic. He definitely hopped the skinny jeans phase and will continue to do so until he finally grows a bit. He holds onto clothes pretty long because there’s only so many times you can buy new shirts after getting paint and charcoal on them before you just stop caring. He aims for durability instead of fashionable, but also collects clothes with the logo from the show he likes. (And no one knows about his secret Ladybug merch collection that he only wears around his house).
Lila - Gyaru was the search term I used. She’s one of the few with a not super saturated color palette, sticking to dark neutrals. She’s drawn to patterns, like polka dots and zebra prints, and tries to balance it with neutral colors. Plus anything that makes her seem “exotic” and foreign and more interesting, she’ll wear (as long as it’s stylish enough for her.) She cleverly toes the line between fashionable and trashy, showing just enough skin or using a just flashy enough pattern. Every piece she wears she’s crafted a whole story around how she got it, like her bracelets being a gift from street kids in Belize or her earrings being a prize she won when impressing an East Asian Prince.

4 Easy Ways To Look More Fashionable In Indian Western Wear.
Tumblr media
Pick the right clothes for your special occasion with our most attractive platform
On this day, the term Indian western is called Indowestern. It seems much more complicated than it is. Simply put, these are Indian clothing with western characteristics. Indians find a balance between the two, and sometimes both speak better in Indo-western format. Over the years, Indians have realized that Indian and western clothing has become important in their lives .On the other hand, Indian clothing always looks elegant and classic.
How to wear casual clothing?
Casual wear is a western clothing dress code, loose, it is suitable for daily wear. Casual wear became popular in the western world after the counterculture. Leisure is informal. Most people today wear Western clothing because it is a new trend that is practical and desirable for all body types. I think the worldwide acceptance of Western clothing is very encouraging.
1.Girls clothing :
We girls are fickle when it comes to clothes. Girls' party clothing and casual wear trends are also easy to change with the change of the times. You can look at the different colours and make a vibrant combination of T-Shirts on girls clothing for almost any Indian event.
2.Women's clothing :
Women's clothing in India is very different, closely related to local culture, religion and climate. Today's women's clothing is the greatest expression of confidence in the female body, which will make her more elegant & charming. Since the girls ' generation, women should try to be Fashionable.
3.Men's clothing :
Men's clothing is made up of Jeans and shirts. but it can still be divided into formal wear, casual wear and sportswear. Formal clothing is traditionally worn during formal social events. Casual clothing simply slips into jeans and shirts. Specialized sportswear is not difficult to find but to easily walk, run or go to the gym, you can easily wear sportswear or a T-shirt and simple lower.
4.Workout clothing:
When you go to the gym or outdoors, it is probably most important to dress for the event. When you choosing high-quality workout clothing, comfort and functionality should be the most important.
Will Clothing Ever Rule the World?
Clothing is a fusion of western and southeast Asian fashion. Most festivals in India can be considered incomplete unless you put on new clothes. Wearing clothes is also a social norm, which means modesty.
More kinds of clothing :
● Scarf
● Swimsuit
● Hat
● Gloves
● Jacket
● Long coat
● Boots

I Shopped at YesStyle So You Don’t Have To: Lookbook no.10
Tumblr media
Hi to anyone reading,
And welcome to what I guess is my first “review” post of sorts! Which is basically an excuse for me to rave about Korean street style and ask why the fuck Seoul fashion week isn’t more of a big deal!? Though I’ve pretty much quit fast fashion over the last few months and have been getting my clothes from Depop, I did want to talk about the website YesStyle which I ordered from back in May (jfc, the fact that May was almost 4 months ago now is terrifying) and how impressed I was with their service and the clothes I received. It should go without saying from the fact that investing in someone with about 200 followers on here wouldn’t be a very good financial decision, but this isn’t a sponsored post-I just think that if you’re gonna order from anywhere, YesStyle is a good shout for those of you who, like myself, are inspired by East Asian street style. I have to give credit to the incredible Katie O, otherwise known as StealTheSpotlight on Youtube and Instagram; she’s the medium through which I’ve been introduced to the world of “k-fashion” and YesStyle in the first place. Yes, my current knowledge of k-pop doesn’t extend far past fan tendencies to flood every popular tweet with fancams of their favourite singers and girl groups (I admire the dedication), but through Katie’s content and Instagram accounts like TokyoFashion on Instagram,  I have come to the conclusion that the stylists behind these groups and Asian designers in general are owed a huge amount of credit by Western trend forecasters. If you have any Instagram account or blog recommendations with similar content please let me know! For now, I’m gonna give a run down of the pieces I ordered (most of which are still available), prices and sizing, and also a bit focussing on ethical concerns and what I could find out about their practices from my research.
DISCLAIMER: The photos used as backgrounds are mine. Yes, I’m in mourning over the fact that this time last year I was inter-railing, in case the ham-fisted insertion of touristy pics didn’t make that obvious. Remember when we could leave the country? When it didn’t feel like the world was ending? When everything didn’t seem to be going to absolute shit all at once? When there was a glimmer of hope that we wouldn’t spend the next 4 years being governed by the Conservatives here in Britain? Simpler times :-)
The Pieces
Tumblr media
1. The Alizio V-Neck Camisole Top in White: £4.97, Size M
So, what you’re gonna get from the off here is that YesStyle’s prices seem ridiculously cheap, which is something I’ll address in the ethics section at the end of the post. For £4.97, you’d expect an ill-fitting SheIn/Zaful style number but I was so impressed by how flattering this top actually is. I was a size 8 and 32C for reference and my only complaint is that because the neckline has a slight plunge, it was a little awkward to wear with a t-shirt bra. You know, unless you’re into that cups poking out of the top kinda vibe that was a rite of passage for all British teenage girls going through puberty back in, like, 2009 when you wanted everyone to know you’d been on your first bra shopping trip to M&Co with your mum at the weekend.
2. The Rhames High-Waist Plaid Mini Skirt in Purple: £9.12, Size M
Clueless being as iconic as it is, a plaid mini skirt is always going to be timeless and I know this is a piece I’m gonna be basing outfits around for a long time. It fit perfectly and is surprisingly good quality material; I was kind of expecting it to come in that super thin, semi-see through jersey that you get when you order from a lot of UK fast fashion sites, but a recurring feature of the clothes I picked out was that they were such good quality for the price and exactly as they appear online. I’ve found in the past that UK sites are deceptively canny with lighting and angles in that when the garment actually arrives (Boohoo in particular is a repeat offender in this regard) it’s a lot frumpier than it looks on the model. It seems to be common practice to pin back and temporarily alter the clothes during photoshoots to give the illusion that they’re a lot more fitted and structured than they actually are which ultimately just leads to disappointment when you try on the supposedly bodycon dress and resemble a sack of potatoes. Been there, done that. I worship the ground all carbs walk on but I don’t want to look like them. Should go without saying really. It’s nothing to do with size, but it’s just crappy tailoring and cutting corners on the brand’s part and that’s what irks me. I really appreciate that YesStyle has photos of “regular” people just wearing the clothes out rather than the outcomes of these overly edited, studio lit shoots that aren’t necessarily the most representative of how the garment is gonna look irl.
3. Nikiki Garter Belt: £5.59, One Size
As comfortable as garters come, I guess? I don’t have much experience with them tbh, lol. 2021 to do list, if we make it out of 2020 alive: try more garters.
4. Lucuna Floral Embroidered Cropped Cardigan in Almond: £15.61, One Size
Don’t get me wrong, this cardigan is adorable and there’s nothing misleading about the photo on the website. What I will say is that considering it only comes in one size, it’s pretty tight on the arms. I’m a size 6 right now and it’s really not like I’m ripped or anything (lol) so it’s safe to say that in terms of the Lucuna brand, their sizes come up very small. The cardigan wasn’t the only one size thing I purchased and whilst the others did fit, I think in general the fact that said “one size” is pretty much only suitable for UK sizes 4-8 is pretty shit. A few of the pieces had elasticated waistbands but in general in 2020, when we’ve come so far in the last few years with body positivity and being more inclusive of all sizes, to have a sample size that runs so small isn’t acceptable and this sizing issue is my biggest problem with the store. Though I recognise that YesStyle acts as an outlet for smaller East Asian brands (in this case Lucuna) and thus aren’t themselves responsible for the designs, more consideration should probably go into the harm that could potentially be done by stocking these supposedly “one size fits all” garments. Brandy Melville, I’m looking at you too. Your designs are cute but your lack of inclusivity is shitty.
5. Ohnana Ruffle Trim Strappy Cami Cropped Top in Purple: £5.01, Size M
I’m not as jazzed as I was about this top now it seems that everyone and their mother’s dog is selling it at an extortionate price on Depop but I will say that it’s also very flattering. Makes my strangely long torso look somewhat proportionate, which is nice. The material is pretty thin but it is for all intents and purposes a tank top and the price is reflective of that.
6. Sisyphi Plaid Shirt in Tangerine: £11.30, One Size
So the “one size” option strikes again, though this time with less vengeance-I would say this would be wearable up to size 12/14 so slightly better than with the cardigan.
7.  BBChic High-Waist Wide-Leg Jeans: £10.04, Size M
When it comes to these jeans, I only have good things to say. Like firstly, they make me feel like early 2000s Avril Lavigne AKA. my childhood icon/potential clone/queen of millennium grunge and an incarnation of Y2K fashion I can actually get behind. Secondly, they have an elasticated waistband, which is ALWAYS a good thing. Thirdly, they didn’t come up ridiculously long on me which I feared would be the case; I did wear the platform Filas with them but as you can see, it’s not like they’d be trailing over my feet even in flats. I’m somewhere between 5′3 and 5′4 for reference and usually go for petite in jeans  and trousers just to be on the safe side.
Tumblr media
8.  HERMITAKH Ring Detail Halter Crop Top in Black: £5.15, Size M
I have only recently become a member of the itty bitty titty committee but even back when I shot this lookbook this halter actually fit! When it came to tops that necessitate going braless, I always had issues with finding pieces I didn’t feel were going to cause an unintentional free the nipple moment, but the fact that you can tie this top up at the neck and back yourself allows you to work out a fit that’s supportive for you.
9. Puffie Lightning Print Straight-Cut Pants: £13.76, Size M
I’d wanted a pair of trousers like these for ages before I saw them on YesStyle but the ones I’d come across in the past were a bit extra for my hometown and typically cost more than they seemed to be worth. This pair lack the bulk that the original styles I came across had, which helps give them a more casual, laid back feel, though they are just as vibrant and substantial BUT there isn’t much give in them. They have the slightly baggy look I was going for however they aren’t elasticated on the waist so I recommend having a look at the guide that’s available next to the drop down box where you select the size you want.
Tumblr media
 10. Alfie Mesh Long-Sleeve Top in Pink: £7.71, One Size
No, the Jennifer’s Body top isn’t from YesStyle, I’m sorry to disappoint. Go to RedBubble for that one! The considerably less exciting mesh top underneath however, is, and in spite of its relative mundanity (you can’t top Megan Fox as a man-eating demon) it does the job as a versatile staple piece. It’s one size but it does have a lot of stretch in it so would probably go up to about size 14 (not to say that’s great).
11. Barrash Harness Bag: £17.10, One Size
The harness vest is one of my favourite trends to come out of k-fashion and I wanted SO badly to pull this piece off (especially because it was one of the most expensive pieces I purchased from the site) but it was far too big for me even when I adjusted it and TBH...I don’t even know if it’s just the sizing? I kinda felt like a paranoid tourist with their bag on back to front and yeah...I don’t think that’s the desired effect. Here’s an example of how cool they CAN look from Seoul fashion week, and with that another example of why NYFW should lose its place in the “big 4″ to make room for SFW:
Tumblr media
And just Blackpink just setting the standard for the utility wear trend in general:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
12. Mikiko Short-Sleeved Blouse in White: £8.79, One Size
I appreciate that the website notes that the “one size” here runs small, however it does also say that a “base layer” is needed for under the shirt which I didn’t find was necessary at all. The fabric is quite thick and it genuinely looks like the kind of shirt you’d find tucked away in a vintage shop, cute af and will go with anything.
13. Closette Sleeveless V-Neck Vest in Black: £11.87, One Size
Again, I was really impressed with the quality of this jumper; it definitely looks like something you’d pick up in a uniform shop (though this one is probably cheaper because those shops are daylight fucking ROBBERY) but I can never get enough of that grungy school girl look. Blame St.Trinians.
14. Niji Smile Pleated Plaid Skirt with Insert Shorts in Green: £9.12, Size M
This skirt might be my absolute favourite of the items I ordered on the sole basis that it comes with shorts built in underneath, like, WHY DON’T ALL MINI SKIRTS HAVE THIS!? Plus the shape and the bounce it has to it makes me feel ultra-feminine and effortlessly cute which I love. It didn’t even turn up crumpled! Which you’ve really got to admire considering half the clothes in my local H&M look like they’ve never got within 10 metres of an iron in their short lifespan.
15. LINSI Elbow-Sleeve Print T-Shirt: £10.92, One Size
If I had to pick one more favourite piece, it would be this graphic top that I wore underneath a pink chiffon Ebay dress. It looks and fits exactly like the photos on the website and I have to restrain myself wasting a wear of it just lounging around the house because it’s also ridiculously comfy.
16. LINSI Plaid Straight-Cut Pants in Orange: Size M
These trousers are currently out of stock, however I will say that of everything I’ve ordered they’re probably the least comfy and on that basis I’m not sure if I’d buy them again. They look great and I will push myself to wear them for that reason but they’re the kind of itchy fabric that I rush to take off and swap for some pyjamas the moment I get into the house. That being said, I don’t know if this is an issue everyone will have because I am someone that is overly sensitive to fabrics so you might not even notice it, plus-stretchy waistband! Which is a plus for sure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was also very impressed by the accessories I ordered, which once again completely surpassed my quality expectations. Pretty much everything pictured here was under £5 apart from the shoulder bag which was closer to 10, and when you consider that the price of these is inflated at the moment because of the resurgence of the Y2K trend, this is still ridiculously cheap.
The prices are definitely a concern of mine because unfortunately, when products are this cheap there’s usually somebody being exploited down the line. Since I made this order in May, I’ve had a small slip up with a Motel Rocks order, but other than that have cut out fast fashion completely. I want to be as ethical a consumer as I can, and that’s something I considered before making this post; that being said, YesStyle, actually a Hong-Kong based company in spite of it being touted as the destination for k-fashion, was recognised as a "Caring Company" between 2014 and 2019 (I don’t think this has been updated for 2020 yet given the circumstances) by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. From what I can find online, this award is given to Hong Kong companies that demonstrate good corporate citizenship and responsibility. Whilst this seems like reassuring information, like I said, I find it hard to believe that the production of clothes selling for these kinds of prices isn’t outsourced to low wage workers at some stage of the process. It’s a hard to know where to stand, because obviously the fast fashion industry DOES create jobs that people rely on to sustain themselves but at what point does the treatment of workers in developing countries negate the opportunities the industry provides here in the UK? “There is no ethical consumption under capitalism” and all that but shouldn’t we try to make a change where we can? I agree with the statement though at times it can come across like a deflection of individual responsibility. Plus there’s the environmental side of the debate-having to fly the garments over from the point of manufacture obviously takes a massive amount of fuel which it goes without saying is hugely detrimental to our planet. The sizing is also an issue; the average clothes size here in the UK is a 12, I believe, and yet a size medium seems to come up as about an 8. Asian sizes do tend to come up smaller in general but at the same time, if that’s the case, as an international retailer shouldn’t YesStyle at least address that somewhere on the site?
I don’t want to end on a negative note because compared to sites like Zaful, SheIn, and even UK based retailers such as Pretty Little Thing and Boohoo, YesStyle appears to be one of the better ones. The quality of their garments is incredible for the prices and I admire the transparency of having reviews for every product be so readily accessible. It’s also great to see that they have a section specifically addressing their response to the COVID-19 pandemic, AND  offer refunds to their customers for import fees. God, I don’t know why this isn’t something that more websites do? I will never forget being slapped with a £100+ invoice for a Dolls Kill (bleurgh) order I made once back in the more impulsive shopping days and all the Karen-y emails I sent back and forth. Import fees are understandable but international retailers should definitely make it clearer how these are calculated and give more of an indication of just how steep these fees might be if you’re making a large order. It almost seems disingenuous not to do so especially when said retailers most likely know that customers wouldn’t make these orders if they had an idea of what it would cost just to get access to the goods they’ve already paid for.
I won’t ramble on for much longer because there is so much important shit going on in the world right now and I don’t want to take up time that could be spent reading more valuable posts-with the shooting of Jacob Blake earlier this week, and the death of Chadwick Boseman earlier today (I can’t imagine the amount of mental and physical strength it takes to film all the movies he did back to back whilst dealing with colon cancer), the most important thing to do is listen to how black individuals are feeling and what they are thinking right now. I will keep an eye on my dashboard and retweet what I can. Thanks for reading. Even if you’re just here for the photos, I appreciate it! And I don’t know if I’ve said it before but please know that my messages are always open to anyone struggling, especially with everything that’s going on at the moment. I don’t claim to be a professional but I can always listen. Lots of love<3

Shopping on AliExpress- A Guide (August 2019)
I’ve been shopping on AliExpress since 2014, and have ordered around 250 items from many different shops over that period of time. These are some tips I’ve learned from experience!
-China currently gets subsidized shipping, but that might change in the future. beware of high shipping costs- it’s often a way for sellers to get extra profit and it feels scummy, so the store may not be trustworthy if they do this.
-Keep an eye on store and seller ratings. Avoid stores below 85-87% ratings for the most part. The ratings are broken down by accuracy of item, shipping speed and seller communication. If the last two don’t bother you (I don’t mind too much) then as long as the accuracy score is good, you’re probably ok.
-The average shipping time for stuff is about a month. It can sometimes be 2 months. Don’t freak out, and plan ahead!
-However, if you look at the tracking info and it’s still “in customs,” it’s possible it was confiscated by customs. If this happens, you can usually talk to the seller and get your money back. It’s only happened to me about 2-3 times in the 5 years I’ve been shopping there (and the ~250 items I’ve purchased there) and I’ve gotten my money back each time.
-Read reviews; often, multiple sellers will be selling the same items, so if there’s no reviews on the item you’re looking at, look for the same photos on different stores and read those reviews, and consider buying the one with reviews.
-Chinese sizes run SMALL. Always read the size chart and know your measurements accurately. If the item doesn’t have a size chart, message the seller or buy from a different listing. Always lean toward the larger option if you’re between sizes, it’s possible that the item is actually a little smaller than the size chart. read reviews regarding size. You can usually message the seller for advice on size if you’re confused.
-On that note, “one size” items are usually equivalent to a Chinese medium, often leaning a little smaller. A Chinese medium is roughly equivalent to an American extra small.
-Use centimeters and kilograms for measurements and weight. I recommend buying a tape measure with centimeters on it for quickly measuring yourself or spaces in your home. You can also use Google to translate inches into centimeters, as well as pounds into kilograms.
-Items that have a more Western look or style/featuring Western or voluptuous models are often sized in a more western way, for some reason. They also fall prey to lower quality and less accurate photos than Asian style clothing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Be more vigilant if you’re buying a Western style item.
-Quite a few models are photoshopped to ridiculous lengths. be critical of all photos.
-Always leave detailed reviews of the items you get; it helps people out a lot. Try to use plain language and correct grammar/spelling, as the automatic translator isn’t perfect, and the more correct and simple phrasing you use, the more useful it will be to customers who don’t know your native language and depend on the translator. Try not to use slang.
-Avoid fancy or expensive items ($100+) unless the reviews are excellent. Often, these items are produced as cheaply as possible and you might be very disappointed.
-There is a freebies button on the homepage of the mobile app. Browse that daily. You get two chances to apply for something every day. I discovered this a few weeks ago and I already won a tee!
-Also on the mobile app, there is a button that allows you to search a photo. This is helpful for finding the same item if you need to read reviews, or find it at a lower price. It also brings up similar items which is nice. Sometimes, it’s really off though...you can find the button if you click on an item’s photo. The camera shaped button in the upper right corner will search for you.
-Use the site feedback feature often. They’re actually pretty receptive to feedback. I’ve noticed a couple of my suggestions implemented or bugs fixed after I told them about them.
-Never confirm receiving the item until you’ve inspected it- check that they sent the right size and color, check for damage like stains, holes, marks, poor stitching. If there is an issue, you can’t dispute and get your money back if you’ve already confirmed that you got the item.
-Personally, I avoid all makeup/skincare and food items on AliExpress, but I’m willing to bet that there are trustworthy stores out there that sell good quality skin stuff and food stuff. If you find them, message me with the store names!
-AliExpress is a fun place for crafters. It’s easy to find bulk listings of very cute items, at affordable prices. If you’re interested in starting a new type of craft, it’s a great place to get inexpensive starter supplies too.
-There are legitimate Taobao resellers on AliExpress, mostly of Lolita and Mori Girl fashions.
-Keep your expectations realistic. If a stiletto shoe is 15 dollars, it’s not going to be as well made as one that costs 50 dollars.
-Searching can often be frustrating, as Chinese sellers use different words for things than Westerners/English speakers do. I’ve found a few consistent ones:
Perspective=Transparent or see through
Hollow Out=Lace, often eyelet specifically
Shrimp Pink= Often a peach color or dusty pink color
Taro color=Often lavender, or dusty lavender
-If you’re having trouble finding something, look at wording that’s being used in similar items and search those terms. Adding stuff to your wishlist (even if it’s not exactly what you want) often helps the search algorithm suggest more accurate items.
-There are a lot of adult items available and currently no way to opt out of seeing them. If you think this will bother you, tread carefully. You’ve been warned!
That’s about all I have for now! Feel free to message me with questions and I’ll try to answer to the best of my ability. Hope this helps some of you out there!

Today, I’m sharing a cute androgynous look that pays tribute to the Harajuku fashion scene.
I’ve devoted a huge part of my life to clothes and fashion. Clothes is something many people may treat with contempt, as “rugs” or merely a way to cover their bodies. But I know for sure that clothing doesn’t only influence the way others look at you. It’s also a way for you to express yourself. And this gives you ample opportunities to be creative and present yourself each time you go out. You can use your looks to tell others about your mood, your interests, values and attitudes.
I love Asian culture, as my regular readers might have noticed already. I love Hello Kitty and collect Hello Kitty merchandise. I often get into that sweet, cat-like mood when I want someone to pick me up, stroke me, take care of me. And this is a great way to signal the world about my inner emotions, while not going too far into cosplay or any extremes bound to a certain subculture. That is, of course, if you aren’t a cosplayer or a fan of some edgy fashions. That way you might as well get in character and make older people’s heads spin almost every day)))
Now, let’s throw together our affordable and cute androgynous look. Unisex style is meant to suit people of all genders. Anyone can love cats. There are many Hello Kitty fans on across the gender spectrum. The lines of ‘cuteness’ between the pink and blue factions have long been blurred. Being cute is not a bad thing for anyone, especially with genderless fashion trends in countries like Japan and South Korea. Anyway, it might not be a good idea to overdo it with “girlish” attributes like pretty bows and ruffles.
Here’s a tip for sticking to a low-budget with your looks. Try not to throw away any unique or basic pieces of clothing. I never get rid of such items. They wait in the wings until it’s time they become trendy again with their old-school feel, or until I manage to team them up with some newer items. In this look, I’m using a denim overall I’ve had since school — this way, I didn’t have to buy a new similar model at a rather high price. A casual basic white sweater with a collar in a warmer shade was bought in some dime-store. I’ve had these Timberland boots for years, they’re indestructible. I’ve been vegan for several years now, but I think it’s wasteful and not eco-friendly to throw away things that can still be used. Both the old-school quilted velvet jacket with a leopard collar and a fluffy Hello Kitty beanie were bought in a second-hand store for a total price of about $4. These socks were knitted by my auntie. As for wire-wrapped rings, you can even make them yourself like many Harajuku people do.
And that’s it, nyan. You’re such a cute little star. Especially if you have big eyes and a sweet-looking face.
This is how you can express so many things with a single look. Here I am, sweet, cute, a lover of Japan/Hello Kitty/cats/what else. You can tell at first glance that I might identify as nonbinary or simply like cute unisex clothes. Such a kidult. Lechers go away. That’s how much you can say with your looks if you want to.

New Focus in the Bag Market - Reusable Bag
Tumblr media
Anya Hindmarch's trendy "I am Not A Plastic Bag" design makes enormous gains in popularity, which sold out of London stores just hours after being released. The aim of the design is simple - to encourage people not to use plastic carrier bags. The simple bag has become a symbol of ethical intent - and a very fashionable one at that. The popularity of this bag should be proof that consumers are willing and excited to have some non-plastic reusable alternatives. Hindmarch told the media: "I hate the idea of making the environment trendy, but you need to make it cool and then it becomes a habit."Reusable Fabric Options - No More Plastic Bag String bag: This bag is completely lightweight yet able to carry a lot of groceries. The best thing about it is its ability to stretch, so just when you think you've fit all that, you can still throw in that last stuff. Meanwhile, the problem with the string bag is its lack of structure when loading and also the perception that it could be unsanitary, especially when it comes to food. Lightweight Nylon: The cool thing about this alternative is that it fits in with the current system for bagging groceries at the check-out counter. It is a more durable but still lightweight material compared to the plastic bag. But again it lacks structure when loading.Heavy Duty Nylon: This bag is made to last a lifetime. Tote bag often made of this heavy nylon. It resembles a traditional paper grocery bag with some added handles; it stands nicely on its own for easy packing. However with that durability and quality of materials come a not-so-compact package. It folds similarly to a paper grocery bag.
Each of them has its advantages and disadvantages. The thing is, they all have the potential to save thousands of throw away PGBs from plastic bags.Supplementary to Typical Leather Handbag or Designer Bag At first blush, the trend of reusable shopping bags would seem at odds with the explosive growth of high-end handbags. But it turns out that some consumers are eager to walk around with a $1,000 Coach purse on one arm and the Coach shopping bag it came in on the other. Until recently, high-priced, top-of-the-line imported handbags were a status symbol. But today, designer goods have flooded the market, are no longer as exclusive as they once were. Every woman needs a leather handbag or a designer bag, but they also need a practical bag, such as a tote bag or shopping bag for holding many stuff that their leather bag can't handle, such as A4 document, a cup of coffee, lunch box, some big accessories... For example, last summer in 2007, many women in china are choosing straw bags for their reasonable price, their suitability for the summer season, and the possibility of matching them up with many different styles. The best of all, it is nature and reusable.Pattern and Style Choice
Environmental friendly people want to be associated and seen with natural fabric bags. Available in soft and natural hues, some bags ooze class and concern. Multicolored patchwork bags, printed bags, embroidered and embossed bags are everyone's favorite. In bag related trade shows, lots of design elements and latest fashion trend is revealed. Certain bags are cute, featuring a corsage, embroidered beads, or braided ribbons as decoration, while others are more flashy, featuring rhinestones, of are inspired by classic Asian styles, with wooden beads or sea shells. There are bags for all outfits and occasions. Some women at fireworks festivals and other summer events this year prefer carrying straw bags. Some bags can be paired with dresses for a softer, more feminine look, but they also go will with slightly mannish short-sleeved jackets and pants sets and suits. Anyway, versatility is an appeal. We are now pleased to see all kinds of reusable bags step into the market and become a focus. Bag manufacturers have sensed this trend and making actions.Popular Items - Straw Bag, Tote Bag in Green Design Tote Shopping Bag - Big and Practical Big is the fashion. Bags get bigger with cooler weather because you have more to carry (umbrellas, wraps, hats). Nearly every woman has at least one tote bag, whether it's for a day at the beach, a picnic, browsing at the flea market or just a day at the mall. After all, a good tote bag is very popular - an absolutely indispensable item. Because canvas tote bags come in a variety of designs and styles, you can match them with coordinating sandals, a t-shirt, gym clothes, or your favorite dress. You can make a bold fashion statement with these versatile bags. Tote bags can replace traditional plastic and paper shopping bags. After you use the tote bags for groceries, fold them and place them near the door so you can pick them up next time on your way.Straw Fashion Straw handbags combine colorful and funky designs with the latest trends for natural looks and environment-friendly statements, carrying a unique appeal to consumers. Compared to the conventional leather and fabric handbags, they are much lighter. The use of natural grass also fits in with the trend for environmental protection, while many handbags even come as "natural" straw to accentuate their appeal - and probably even enhance health requirements for the product. Trend or Demand for Future Reusable Bag Industry The reusable bag is still the bag of choice for most occasions under the prevailing theme about environment protection. So people would strive to make it better, and the solution should be a bag that is, (I mean many kinds of bag suited to different occasions):
1 Easily folded flat, both for storage at the checkout counter and for refolding for the return journey;
2 Relatively inexpensive to produce, so the supermarket and grocery stores would use it in greater amount not worrying about their cost control.
3 Made of durable, sustainable materials that give the bag structure but also keep it lightweight;
4 Easy to carry, possibly in different configurations (traditional handles, over the shoulder, etc);
5 Has an appropriate strategy for end-of-life disposal when it is finally properly disposed of after a lifetime of good use.
6 Not only durable and long lasting, but also attractive, comfortable and classy. The last point means that the reusable bags can also be connected to "fashion". When you think of the "I'm not a plastic bag" craze though many western countries recently. Alluring Business Potential for Reusable Bags in this Eco-friendly Market Atmosphere Use of recyclable and reusable bags has now been promoted as a lifestyle. In cities like New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, customers have begun treating eco-friendly bags such as nylon bag as an indispensable accessory that can be reused for weeks, even messenger bags for women  months, to carry laundry to the cleaners, books to the beach or lunch to the office.

Everyone, please welcome Sarah Kuhn to Rich in Color! Sarah’s first YA novel, I LOVE YOU SO MOCHI, is out today, and we’re thrilled to have Sarah here to talk about it. If you’re looking to add a cute contemporary romance to your summer TBR list, start here!
Kimi Nakamura loves a good fashion statement. She’s obsessed with transforming everyday ephemera into Kimi Originals: bold outfits that make her and her friends feel brave, fabulous, and like the Ultimate versions of themselves. But her mother sees this as a distraction from working on her portfolio paintings for the prestigious fine art academy where she’s been accepted for college. So when a surprise letter comes in the mail from Kimi’s estranged grandparents, inviting her to Kyoto for spring break, she seizes the opportunity to get away from the disaster of her life.
When she arrives in Japan, she loses herself in Kyoto’s outdoor markets, art installations, and cherry blossom festival–and meets Akira, a cute med student who moonlights as a costumed mochi mascot. What begins as a trip to escape her problems quickly becomes a way for Kimi to learn more about the mother she left behind, and to figure out where her own heart lies.
I LOVE YOU SO MOCHI is your first YA novel. What were you most excited about writing for teens?
I love writing characters experiencing firsts, those amazing moments that give you that tingly sense of possibility, that feeling of your whole world opening up — first kisses, first trips to another country, first time facing a total existential crisis about your life. To be fair, a lot of my adult characters experience many firsts as well (as do I as an actual supposedly adult person)! But Kimi in particular gets to have maybe the most firsts of any character I’ve ever written — she’s someone who’s initially kind of scared of big new experiences, so writing her having all of those experiences and realizing that so much excitement and wonder can come out of them was a total joy. And maybe a good lesson/reminder for my adult self.
Kimi sounds like fun! Tell us more about her fashionista ways and her friends.
She is fun! In my totally unbiased opinion. It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with clothes and fashion — I love bright colors and patterns and experimenting with putting different outfit combinations together. Basically, I still worship at the shrine of my original idol, Claudia Kishi from The Baby-Sitters Club. But I’m really bad at sewing, mending, or anything that requires patience, so I thought it would be fun to create a character who shares my love of fashion but is also really excellent at sewing and makes all her own outfits. She’s kind of like a fantasy version of myself, with an added sewing superpower. And then of course she has her own Girl Gang, because all my books have Girl Gangs — her best friends are Atsuko, who writes a dating advice column (even though Atsuko is actually very cynical about love in all its forms), and Bex, who is dreamy and idealistic and wears cute dresses with mermaids on them. They’re a fun trio.
It sounds like Kimi and her (extended) family are having some difficulties in I LOVE YOU SO MOCHI. Can you tell us more about Kimi and her relationships with her mom and grandparents?
Kimi is extremely close with her mom, who came to the States from Japan for college and ended up staying there when she fell in love with Kimi’s dad, who is fourth generation Japanese American. Her relationship with her mom mirrors the one I had with mine — her mom knows her better than anyone and they kind of love each other more than anyone…but that also means they have the potential to hurt each other more than anyone. The grandparents in the book are Kimi’s mom’s parents — Kimi’s never met them because they disapproved of Mom’s choice to stay in the States. But they invite Kimi to visit them in Kyoto over Spring Break and after a huge fight with Mom, Kimi accepts. And as she gets to know her grandparents, she realizes there’s a lot more to her mother’s story than she realized. I really loved writing about three generations of powerful Japanese/Japanese American women. I wanted their relationships with each other to be prickly and not always perfect, but with so much love underneath.
I went to Kyoto a few years ago and loved it. Why did you decide to set I LOVE YOU SO MOCHI there?
Kyoto contains so many beautiful sights I wanted to write about: Fushimi Inari Taisha, the amazing shrine with those bright red-orange torii gates; the Arashiyama bamboo grove; Maruyama Park with all those glorious cherry blossoms. All of these were things I thought would inspire Kimi as an artist and budding fashion designer. I’d also read somewhere that Kyoto is a place for people who are passionate about making things, and that seemed perfect for Kimi and her grandmother, who also loves sewing and creating clothes. I loved including more obscure locations that got to the heart of that “making things” idea, like Misuyabari, this tiny, family-run needle shop that’s like 400 years old and sells these incredible handmade needles and sewing supplies. Oh, and finally, Kyoto has a pug cafe — which ended up being a very necessary location.
Can you introduce us to Akira and tell us a little bit about what draws Kimi to him?
Akira is an aspiring med student who moonlights as a costumed mochi mascot at his uncle’s mochi stand. Kimi meets him because he’s doing this ridiculous dance, trying to attract customers, and she laughs too loud and he gets distracted and falls over. It’s probably the cutest meet-cute I’ve written. At first, let’s be honest, she’s drawn to him because he’s hot. But he also has this interesting quality about him that’s very attractive to her — he’s a weird combination of seriousness and goofiness, like he never gives anything less than 100 percent, but he also has a tendency toward dorky jokes that surprise her and make her laugh. Also, he takes her to Japanese McDonald’s, which is very romantic.
What 2019 YA books by or about people of color or people from First/Native Nations are you looking forward to reading?
So many! At the moment, I’m super stoked for OUR WAYWARD FATE by Gloria Chao — AMERICAN PANDA made me die both laughing and crying, so I can’t wait to read her new one. And WICKED FOX by Kat Cho — I’m always hungry for contemporary fantasy/romance starring women of color and this sounds absolutely perfect.
Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about I LOVE YOU SO MOCHI?
I already mentioned the pug cafe, right? I mean, there are a lot of cute animals and delicious food. Be prepared for that going in!
Thank you for stopping by, Sarah! We’re looking forward to your book.

How tall are you? 5′2
What color and style is your hair? lots of people say my hair’s a light brown, but hair stylists say it’s a dark blonde so I’ll trust their judgement // my hair’s curly
What color are your eyes? blue (with these little flecks of gold right around the irises, you can only see them if you look real close)
Do you wear glasses? I have glasses, don’t necessarily wear them all the time
Do you wear braces? I used to, but I developed root resorption and had to get them off early (spring of 2017) so now none of my teeth toouch except for in the very back :( makes it really hard to eat samiches (yes that’s how I like to spell sandwiches fight me)
What’s your fashion sense? so I don’t count most days as my fashion sense bc I wear athleisure ish allllllll the time out of laziness, but when I do make an effort I have two ends of things bc I’m androgynous. so on a day when I’m feeling more masculine you’re gonna see me in a sporty-type-look (spandex, just barely sagging joggers, a graphic tee, my gold chain and jordans, I usually pull my hair into a ponytail and lay my edges), but on a day when I feel more feminine you’re gonna see me in some tried-and-true type of clothes (cute shirt, leggings, heels, jewelry, makeup did, hair down and [hopefully] acting right), but on a day when I’m feeling in-between I’ll try to experiment or be “edgy” (basically mixing and matching or trying something I saw a celebrity do and thought was cute). regardless of any style I’m in, though, you’re always gonna see me with my nails done, whether that means I got acrylics on or that I painted them myself... just know. that’s how we do. and by we I mean me.
Full name? I won’t share my last name, but Eden Amaris (fun fact: amaris can be pronounced two ways!) Is my first and middle
When were you born? December 18, 1999
Where are you from and where do you live now? was born in Federal Way, WA but I consider myself to be from Tacoma, WA as I’ve spent all of my most important years there (early childhood + hs + uni). I now live in Tacoma.
What school do you go to? University of Washington
What kind of student are you? a fucking mess I’m quiet at first, but once I’m comfortable I’m rly talkative and answer so many questions that my teachers will literally stop calling on me unless if there’s no one else lmaooo, I’ve also had several classmates and teachers tell me I should be a teacher and surprise, surprise, I do want to be a teacher for some time
Do you like school? f-f-f-FUCK YEA I LIKE SCHOOL how is that even a question??? to take it down a couple notches, yes, I love school, whether it’s for sports or for learning, I’m always excited to come to school everyday wow what a frickin nerd amirite, frickin loser
Favorite subject? depends on my professor. at this point, I highkey hate all of my classes rn bc I don’t feel like I’m learning anything. that miiight also have something to do with depression and anxiety though so idk what to tell ya man
Favorite tv shows? not a super TV person, but I’m a thot for Steven Universe
Favorite movie? I love tf out of movies, my all time would have to be Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (I just pretend that WftPotA didn’t happen atm bc I hate sm of what happened in it), but in the last few days I’ve watched War Horse (I cried like a bitch lemme tell ya), Secretariat (didn’t cry like a bitch but got teary-eyed) and 42 (I did cry at certain parts but it’s kinda uplifting so ya know, wasn’t super sad) and they were all lovely so if you haven’t seen them yet, go watch them! They’re all free on Netflix
Favorite book? When I was little it was this book called Junket (that thing is older than my grandparents, good lordte), I think some of my favorites rn tho are Heartless by Marissa Meyer and Tales from the Perilous Realm by J.R.R. Tolkien
Favorite past time? a couple months ago you would’ve thought it was crying from how much I did that, but tbh it’s probably drawing, writing, reading, watching movies, listening to music, sewing, spending time/going on adventures with my friends and helping my friends with their lives. I KNOW THAT’S EVERYTHING BUT I CAN’T HELP IT REEEE my most favorite past time atm is helping my friend Charlie clean and organize his room and designing things for his business, also spending time with my favorite little niecey-poo in the WHOLE WORLD OMGOODNESS HERE IS A PICTURE OF HER BEAUTIFUL SELF I LOVE HER SM SHE IS THE SWEETEST MOST CUTEST AND FUNNIEST AND SMARTEST WITTO GIRL EVER AND I LOVE HER <3
Tumblr media
Do you have regrets? boy oh boy, do I: taking so long to forgive my abuser (thx for destroying my childhood @ my biological father), procrastinating, not having enough self-love/worth/confidence, being complacent with so many of the friends I used to have, focusing so much on socializing in hs rather than my sports and my schoolwork, being so afraid to just be myself bc I knew most people don’t want to be friends with a weirdo, the list goes on, all I can do now is move past it though so... ohwell.
Dream job? oh SIS get ready for this: sooo I want to own my own business, known as LEAD Revitalization (L for Love, E for Equity, A for Advocacy, D for Diplomacy - these are the core values of my business), which aims to help revitalize underdeveloped and underserved ethnic communities in the US and around the world and fight against gentrification through implementing art of all mediums in or near historic locations in that community that is representative of the demographic living there (so if the area is a primarily black neighborhood, you’re gonna see art depicting black history and culture, and if the area is primarily Asian you’d see Asian history and culture). I won’t get too into it just bc that would make this post way too long, but if anyone’s interested or wants to hear more you can bml ;) like literally bc I’m passionate af about it so I will talk your head off for days on end if given the chance
Would you ever like to be married? yes
Would you like kids? yes
How many? two or three of my own (I’m hoping for a girl and a boy) just so I can have the experience of having kids, but once they’re grown and out of the house I would like to adopt more if I have the resources to. my cousin’s adopted, so like, idk. I think that if you can adopt a kid, you should, bc there’s so many of them just stuck in the foster system and that’s complete bs
Do you like shopping? yes but I usually don’t like getting myself things (unless if we’re talking groceries or something I actually need), I love to buy things for other ppl tho if I can
What countries have you visited? canada for like 3 days technically, I just went to Mt. Whistler for spring snowboarding (that shit hurted) with my aunt bc she paid for the whole thing and my passport
Scariest nightmare you have ever had? TRIGGER WARNING: DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE - I had a nightmare awhile ago that this guy I used to be involved with raped me, I also used to have recurring nightmares after I stopped going to my biological father’s house for visitation where he would come searching for me trying to kill me and my older brother (he’s tried to kill me 3+ times sooo... it makes sense). so like. fun.
Any enemies? S A T A N and myself, or.... my brain, I guess. idk.
Self-doubt? you betcha
Any significant other? kinda? I’m currently fwb with my ex and still have feelings for him (oopsies), we split bc he was going through shit and needed to figure himself out, I’ve been close to him for a phat minute so I’m not really trippin about it. I also have crushes on other people, but nothing’s presented itself as something worth pursuing yet so. yakno.
Do you believe in miracles? lmao I would fuckin hope so, the very fact that I’m alive rn is a gd miracle so yea
How are you? I am so-so. If we’re just talking about today, I’m prolly fine, but if we’re talking long term, I’ve been going through it. I’m just trying to figure myself out atm, and it’s rough, but I’ll probably get there. My friends think I will, at least.
i tag: @crookedly-rainy @secretpatrolpiespy hi I don’t have any other friends on Tumblr so I tagged my friends from Amino Y E E T
