Hey Indie! How ya doing :)

So I was scrolling through tumblr and saw this post about martial arts and it raised a lot of questions in my mind about your tmnt series. This is gonna be long so bear with me 😅

So to start things off I know that Splinter and Shredder were close friends in the past so I’m guessing they did martial arts together so I was wondering what kind of belt did they have. Like color ex. Black belt brown belt etc.

For the turtles I see them wearing belts to so if my assumption is right they also have colored belts of so what level/color and if it does end up changing in the series which color do they end up with at the end of the series. And if you can I’d also want the same questions answered for Karai too.

Lastly for April. I saw in an earlier post she was training with Splinter in what I think was the Farmhouse Arc and I was wondering if she ever gets a belt and if so what does she end up with at the end of series and if she doesn’t get a belt hypothetically what level/color would she get.

(P.S. sorry i don’t know the technical terms for these stuff and I understand if it doesn’t make much sense)

Hi! I’m doing good! I actually do have some martial arts experience so I think I can answer this.

Yes, Splinter and Shredder were best friends, and did indeed practice together. I’m not super well versed with Okinawan Karate or any of the subsets of it, but at least from what I’ve researched, Splinter and Shredder are both probably high degree black belts. Here’s a chart I found:

I’m not super sure with the turtles? I haven’t been in a dojo of this type of martial arts so I’m not incredibly familiar with how the mastery to belt curve is.

At least based on the descriptions I’ve read, they’re probably somewhere between a green belt and a Sankyu brown belt skill wise. However, I did make their gear brown, so maybe they’re Sankyu rank. Guess I’ll have to decide if that’s related or not. 🤔

I think I’ll probably have them rank up since the series lasts about 4-5 years in universe. I’m not super sure what the average time between belts is with Shorin Ryu, since in BJJ (the martial art I do) it’s many years when you get to higher belts. I’m sure I can look it up though.

I think Karai would be a similar rank to the turtles. Kenji is probably a low degree black belt.

I have plans for April to begin requesting training from Splinter during the farmhouse arc. I don’t think she’d really get a belt, though maybe when they get home he’ll give one to her, in which case she’d be a solid white belt.

Hopefully that all made sense. I had to do a bit of research for this one cause Karate’s ranking system is pretty different from BJJ (and even just within the different factions of Karate).

If you’re wondering why I chose Okinawan Karate, it’s because that’s the type that incorporates the weapons the turtles have (or at least the biggest one anyway). Splinter’s probably from more like the Kyoto/Osaka area.

Hi guys! I thought I’d make a post to let you guys know what the state of the game is currently!

I want to say it’s currently in the draft phase. The plot as of now is very simple but I want to improve it and give it a real story over time! I have quite a few locations finished, but there isn’t really much to do yet. There’s NPCs but a lot of what they say will probably be changed in the future.

There’s a battle system but I don’t have the art skills to make unique enemies, so I had to use free assets. I don’t know much about how to make balanced battles so the fights are either pretty easy to win or difficult depending on the enemy. 😅

I’ve also added shopkeepers! I wanted the ARK to feel like a place people really live in. So it should have businesses and things like that! So far there isn’t really a use for much of the items sold in the stores, but I still think it’s nice! Though I’m planning on the gift/toy store to have an actual impact on things! Like maybe Shadow can buy presents for Maria, and if you get to a certain number it could unlock scenes! (But I don’t know how to do that. I’m sure it’s possible to achieve this in RPG Maker though! I’m just not sure how yet. 😅)

I’m not sure how to make certain scenes happen yet, so until I figure that out, I’ve decided to make it so that if you interact with Maria after she leaves the party, you’ll have options for Shadow to spend time with her! So far there’s a tea party option, and a makeover option, but I have more planned soon! 😄

I hope I worded all of this okay. My new anxiety meds are still making me drowsy, and the summer heat right now where I live is intense so I’m sorry if this little update is completely incoherent. I want to be honest about where the game’s at right now in development! 😅

Things I make for myself when insomnia kicks in

Just a chart about what I wanna change up and keep consistent in my art - I mainly wanna draw Raph with a tail because he deserves one, it fits too well. Donnie gets a long tail too because I didn’t realize how dino-like he looks until I gave him one, and now it’s a must for me haha.

So uh, I drew this tonight

It was just based on me seeing this post on Twitter about how these two characters from Godzilla x Kong are basically Orion Pax and D-16 in another universe, and then me saying someone should redraw the characters in the screenshot as them

And you know, since I can draw, I might as well do it myself

But then I immediately forgot that it was specifically dpax I was meant to be drawing, and drew their final Optimus and Megatron forms instead. Oh well

I haven’t seen Godzilla x Kong, so I have no clue who these original characters are or how much they fit. But I do know Brian Tyree Henry plays one of them and this is the movie that his quote “I’M GONNA KISS YOU ON THE MOUTH” comes from, so I have to assume it works. I also have no context on this scene I’m redrawing itself

I’m mixed on how the art turned out honestly. On one hand, I think someone absolutely could have done a better job, and probably a better version would have the two more closely resemble the original characters, like wearing similar clothes and/or making them human. I’m aware I’m only decent at drawing Transformers at best (outside of when I try really hard, which is rare) and I’m aware I probably misinterpreted the vision, I just did it because I thought someone should, even though I don’t think I got it

But like, I still kind of enjoy how the final product came out, I think it was pretty good by my standards. I still don’t know how to draw the TF One bots very well and I think yet again, Megatron ended up looking the worse, but I still think it turned out reasonably well. I also liked giving them those bright colors in the Overlay, Screen and Multiply layers; I wanted it to be colorful and it was (even if the colors are I think wrong, they’re supposed to be more orange/red)

It also wasn’t all that bad having a canvas size and having to draw a lot bigger than I usually do, I feel like the lineart in particular got to shine because of that. I also used my Marker Pen here, for no real reason other than I haven’t used it in a fair bit

But uh yeah, this thing I made. Hopefully in this universe they are not doomed

Edit: I did a little bit of modification on the art, namely fixing a bit more of the background (best I could), and changing the blending of the pupils to make them brighter, since I remembered they’re supposed to be lights, so they should shine

If it wasn’t for cheetahs being so submissive (it’s like an actual problem lol) then I feel like the Lamborghini Twins would be cheetahs. In every other way they are to me (idk I also feel like they would be bulkier but like….let me dream)

I was cosplaying infinite at momocon this year! it was a whole lot of fun meeting so many other sonic fans

also, I can’t believe there was a second infinite!! if anybody knows who they are– I forgot to ask their name! please let me know!!

the tail was made with leftover memory foam and faux fur I had from when I made my fursuit tail, and a whole lot of hot glue. I felt lazy and didn’t sew anything. I got the shape to look like that by using foam underneath and referencing neffertity’s supermotion tail videos. (using foam for the entire tail also makes it a little more durable afaik and waggy)

the mask was made with pretty thin eva foam and contact cement. I actually opened infinite’s model in blender to look at the mask from all angles (and still managed to get the ears too small- oh well!)

and the outfit was just closet cosplay- the only thing new I bought for this cosplay were the gloves. everything else I already had!

that’s what it takes to be infinite 🎵
