Flor

Another day in the thriving planet of pandora. Meaning, another day with their good friend flor! A nice, loving human that the sully kids love to see as their teacher and friend. Spider enjoys spending time with flor as she gives him some insight of what planet earth was like many years ago. Spider loved flor, she was like a mother figure to him. The closes thing he has to a parent.

To the sully kids, she was the best. Teaches them some English but other languages that she knows. Of course in secret as to not let neytiri know her children are learning other demon languages.

What makes flor more outstanding compared to the other humans was because of her accent. Sounded very odd yet very interesting. As young as the kids remember, Flor would try her best to speak in na'vi rather than english, according to flor, "na'vi is easier to speak than english because of the dialects". Whenever flor would speak in English, its comes out....a bit funny. Of course the kids wouldn't point it out as means to be nice and respectful but it was so odd how english comes out of her mouth compared to neytiri or other na'vi.

Spider woke up feeling excited for a new day. Getting 'dressed', he waits in the main area of the lab for flor. And as always on the clock, Flor walks to the main room exactly at 7:00 am. On the dot.

"good morning flor!" spider says with a wide happy grin. Flor smiles and hugs in, giving him a soft kiss on the head. "Good morning araña" flor replies with a kind smile.

Putting on their masks and doing the needed procedure, they both left the lab and into the world of pandora. Making their way to the village, spider cant help but spike a conversation with flor.

"ok ok, so how about, 'I went to get some water'?" spider asks. Flor took a moment and replies "I whuent to get some whater". Spider grins, its not like he is making fun of her and should flor feel uncomfortable he will stop.

That is a game they play, spider or any of the sully kids say a sentence, flor would repeat it but with her heavy accent.

Arriving at the village, the sully kids were quick to see flor and spider and ran to greet the two. Tuk, abusing her cuteness power, jumps into the arms of flor, snuggling into her embrace and just enjoy to be with flor again.

"good morning flor!" tuk says cheerfully. Flor chuckles and boops tuk's nose, "good morning mi niña pequeña". Tuk doesn't 100% know the meaning but from how flor is saying it, it must be a good thing.

"move tuk! I wanna hug her too!" lo'ak tries to nudge tuk but the little one has a good grip on flor. "ok ok, you two, plrease colm down. Lo'ak, you are a beeg boy" flor says in english. Most of the time she does it on purpose since the children like to hear her accent.

Lo'ak pouted cutely, his tail swinging low and ears pinned down. Reminds her of a toddler not getting what he wants. "lo'ak, its ok, we can hug later as much as you want" flor says kindly. Lo'ak liked the idea and returned to smiling happily again.

Kiri looked a bit imaptient, ready to have the full day with flor and her siblings. "can we go now?" she asks. Flor laughs inwardly.

"now we cahn go. Be shur to be close and together pleez. Neteyam, you can leed the way tooday" flor says, which neteyam happily complies.

There, spider and the sully kids surround flor as they go on another day full of adventure and learning new words.

Credit goes to my mom since she has a heavy accent so I took some words from her. I hope this is what you asked, I don't mind re-writing it! Tell me what ya'll think! until next time! see ya!

First impression Seems cute. I wasn't rotted by the mindset of the Internet during my introduction to Star Force, so I easily accepted Geo as "oh look another new Mega Man". I can't even remember how we came across him. One day my brother got SF1, and that was about it.

I was also thrown off to see that he can smile so big once my brother got to SF2, but y'know, it is good for him.

Impression now I may not have as much of a deep and personal connection with Geo as I do for Hub, but I am still quite fond of him.

A word I find myself using a lot with him is "soft". I think about it a lot whenever drawing or when brainstorming concepts with him.

I'm sure a big part of why I see him like that is because Geo is a pure human. That deviates so far from any previous Mega Man but I think that's actually very interesting. It adds a sort of vulnerability compared to the others that makes me think, "What will do you, soft human, in this tougher world?", "How much will you change?".

Favorite moment Whenever Geo's visor is obscured it looks so cool. I also think in doing so, it hides a part of him being human, perhaps I am overthinking it but something about that is kinda cool.

Idea for a story There is a theme going on here. Obviously. I'm usually able to find key concepts to work around when I invest that much into a character.

This would have occurred early into Geo's entry into OSS, so he's only just met the twins-- not knowing they are twins just yet. One night, while Lan is asleep, Hub decides to ask Geo a sudden question, "What's it like to be human?".

I actually drew something that was meant to start this comic off but gave up afterwards because my energy vanished. Gee, I wonder which one that was.

Unpopular opinion I like his SF1 form more. Seeing Omega-Xis clearly reminds me they're both one part of the same whole. The two-headed Mega Man.

Random Note: I never realized how neat it is to play as Geo in VRChat. Just having Omega-Xis chilling there as my other arm makes me feel less lonely.

Favorite relationship It's a super basic crossover, but I love the interactions shown between Geo and the Hikari twins in OSS. He fits right in. :>

Favorite headcanon Those boots of his are like weighted gear in DBZ. If Geo can't get beeg and stronge like his dad, those will have to do.

Used to be a brighter color but age/stress/exploding darkened it. also pretty big, floof makes her look a bit bigger.

To adhere to the rules I will first provide FOUR and ONLY FOUR of my fictional crushes! And to make it easier on us all I've narrowed it down to games only, so here we go!

I'm starting off from the very beginning of my journey into crushing on non-existent people, and people who have read my tags before might know this one already!

Malik Al Sayf from Assassins Creed 1 - 2007

A man whom you've wrong by being arrogant and then spends the next few hours of the game being yelled at by him, and rightfully so. Not only do you cost him his arm and place as an assassin in the brotherhood, but his younger brother as well.

Eventually Altaïr stops begin a prick and apologizes and Malik, bless his heart forgives him.

Still... not me rolling into Jerusalem hoping, wishing, to get yelled at because Malik's Voice Actor goes HARD <3 I love him and his 7 whole polygons! NEXT!!

The Yu translation calls the King of Havoc's weapon as a scimitar, which I can only assume means a dao. There are many types of dao, and at the period this chapter should happen, that means that curved blades are only just starting to become a more common sight. They range from 84 to 114 centimeters, but for the sake of convenience, I'll pick a length that matches the human arm from wrist to shoulder.

The King of Havoc is described as "thirty feet" tall which is a hecking lot!! By average proportions, just his head is 3ft tall!

Also by average proportions, that means that the length of his arms is somewhere around 340cm or 10'11''. Meaning that the dao that Wukong takes from him has a blade of about that size, and we can eyeball the handle as somewhere in the ballpark of 3ft or 92cm.

In academic terms, that's a beeg sword!

I spent a lot if time planning her design and this is what I ended up with, I love her design and I'm happy to be in the SMG4 community. 🙂

Parent: smg3 (she was found at her USB pod by him)

Name inspiration: the SMG is obvious but the number 24 was supposed to be the day of Luke's birthday the 24th.(fun fact my birthday is 2 days after his)

Personality: "villain", she's rude to everyone except SMG3, egg dog, beeg smg4 and mario (a little), SHE HATES SMG4 (because as he feels like smg4 will take smg3 away from her)

LORE: when she landed in the Mushroom Kingdom (I like to say almost the middle of 2019 when she was 11) SMG3 found her and took her in but just to be his minion but over the years he saw her as a daughter, that's also why SMG24 hates smg4 because smg3 stopped being a villain and hung out with smg4 more.

Color: I just chose random colors but teal is now my 2nd fav color. 😃

Outfit: the hat, overalls, shirt, and gloves are obvious too but the stars is because I love stars but the patches I'll explain later.

Tail: when people drew smg4 and smg3 with a wire tail with a USB on the end I thought it would be a good idea to put it.

Lore of her tail: when she was a villain with smg3 before wotfi 2020 she made it and stabbed it into herself and then she could control it

Power: (this was scrapped lol she's just getting meme energy lol)

Scars: her scars come from IGBP instead of SMG3 being dragged by the old design of SMG4, SMG24 pushed smg3 away and got grabbed instead and became the monster, she became blind in one eye bc when she was possessed meggy shot her in the eye with the ink gun trying to get her back, the pink cracks on her face was because she got possessed (inspired by smg4 fanart), and this is not visible but her arm is burnt bc of wotfi 2023 when the place exploded.

Patches: because of IGBP her overalls got ripped and the colors represent SMG3 and Mario.

Save unlike in rabbits, both female and male mountain dorceans have the dewlap. It evolved as a means of keeping their first pair of arms warm (the little arms on their necks) so it's basically the evolutionary version of this:

They also use it to hold their babies sometimes. When the babies are too big, the adult pushes them out with the arms.

So you want to write about swords…

I’ve been reading Tamora Pierce books with my boyfriend, and it’s got me in my trap card again about what different swords are.

Despite what some sword nerds will say there really is no absolute / concrete taxonomy of swords. Especially in history, different styles of swords were highly contextual to different cultures and didn’t often need to be described super specifically or told apart. But when we’re writing, especially writing western fantasy, and we have a wealth of cool swords that we want to describe to an audience so that they sound distinct… then we need to have a ballpark idea what we’re talking about at least with the more commonly appearing ones. So.

Arming Sword / Shortsword

What the overwhelming majority of white people think of when you say “sword.” Also, unfortunately, what most white people (and tabletop systems) think of when you say “longsword,” which is just not correct.

These are one handed double edged blades with a cruciform guard, what an archetypical knight wields alongside a shield. Good for thrusts and cuts, very versatile. A good length for them is one where you can swing the sword straight down without hitting the ground.

For more specific swords that basically also fit in this category see: gladius, spatha, viking swords.

Bastard Sword

What most people who don’t think an arming sword is a longsword think is a longsword… and they’re still mostly wrong. Some people will even use this to mean something bigger than a longsword… which is even less correct.

Think of these as the shortstop between arming swords and actual longswords. They’re often also called hand-and-a-half swords, the idea being that they’re meant to be a flexible weapon that can be wielded effectively in one hand or two. The funny thing is, while most people use these to signify that a character is big and strong and edgy they are specifically a smaller and lighter cousin of the longsword.

Longsword / Claymore

Yes these are basically the same thing. This is by far the most flexible category of sword, though, so nailing down what one is can honestly be kinda tricky.

The crux is this: longswords are generally meant to be two handed weapons. Don’t listen to D&D, it lies to you. If you want the best picture look up “German longsword” or “Italian longsword” or “HEMA.” You’ll get the idea of how they were fought with. Disambiguate them from arming swords in your mind. If it’s paired with a shield (or really anything) it’s an arming sword. Longswords are bigger than you think and every guard I’ve learned with them has needed both hands.

And seriously if you remember nothing else here remember that a Claymore is just a longsword in Scottish font.

Greatsword / Zweihander

Get the image of Cloud Strife out of your head. These were not, and I can’t stress this enough, meant for dueling. They’re what you come at a pike formation with. They were handled more like polearms than swords. Generally speaking they just exist much harder in fiction than they ever did in history… but also the concept is really cool so who cares. Beeg chonk sword. Yaaaaay.

Broadsword

These. Are not. Longswords. Or bastard swords. Literally they’re “rapier but thicc.” They have a basket hilt, they’re made for fencing, they’re just chonkier than other fencing swords. This one is easily the one I see misused the most because people use it to mean “lorge sword” when in actuality they are relatively small. They’re just heavyweights for a fighting style which is still geared around being light, fast, and virtually unarmored.

Rapier

We all pretty much know this one. Skinny double edged blade with a fancy hilt meant to be wielded in one hand. Good for cutting, better for stabbing. While almost no one gets confused on what it is though, there’s one common misconception about what it does.

I’ll put it this way: if seeing someone with a longsword is like seeing someone with a hunting rifle slung over their shoulder, seeing someone with a rapier is like seeing someone with a beretta tucked into their waistband.

Too many stories have big chunky dumb dumbs seeing a rapier and going “haw haw look at that little toad sticker.” No. A rapier means you definitely have money and most likely a lot of training. There is no chance you are a working stiff like a soldier, a mercenary, or a guard. Rapiers are for killing people in the street or on a dueling ground. This is one of the most intimidating weapons someone can be carrying.

Saber / Cutlass

Basically everyone knows sabers: curved fencing swords, occasionally with a fancy hilt. Mostly these were for soldiers, especially cavalry where their cutting capability has a great advantage.

The cutlass is pretty much that moved down a tax bracket. They’re relatively cheap, single edged, useful for things like cutting rope and thus often seen on ships. Often these were self defense weapons.

Falchion

An elegant weapon for elves and stuff, right?

Well… no. Try a self defense weapon for the lower class, not unlike a cutlass. Single edged, not usually curved or especially interesting, really. Though fantasy authors love handing these to graceful fighters and the name sounds rad as heck they’re basically just a big cleaver. See also the messer and the seax / langseax.

Very, very often confused with the falcata or the falx to the point that all three sort of get mixed together when they’re actually very distinct. (Personally, I think the falcata is the coolest.)

For writing purposes… think hard about how you want to use these. Curved swords that don’t mean “pirates” or “elves” are often handed off to non-white people when in fact all of these three are weapons from western civ, ranging from Rome to middle Europe. They’re not fancy, they’re not that far off from a machete except that their primary use is as a weapon rather than a tool, and if anything they curve forward not back.

A curved sword that odds are you are too white to be writing about. See also the kilij, the talwar, the saif.

If you don’t immediately know what these swords are then odds are the best thing they can do by popping up in your story is alert you that you need to do more research to write the culture you’re trying to write without being accidentally racist.

Katana

A single edged Japanese sword that was neither folded a thousand times nor was it made of special super awesome steel. The optional groove in the back is called a fuller and it has nothing to do with blood, it just makes the blade lighter and sturdier. It’s not inherently master crafted, just historically the forging technique was unique and interesting and involved differential hardening. It’s great at cutting. If one shows up in your story and you aren’t Asian, you’re probably a weeb. Take it from someone who was a teenage weeb, and see my previous note about cultural research.

Bonus Round: Weight

If you made it this far I have one last gripe and I want you to spread the word: swords are not heavy. Every time I read about a noodle-armed protag struggling to lift a sword I want to scream. The average weight of a historical zweihander—the swords so big they’re used as polearms—is about 5lbs. There are books heavier than that. Unless the sword in your story is made of tungsten for some reason there is no reason it should be hard to heft. Tiring to fight with? Sure. But swords aren’t made to be cumbersome and acting like one can’t wield them at all without doing a whole montage about it first looks really silly to anyone with even a passing familiarity with fencing… which will be a sizable chunk of your audience.
