Note
if you had to choose the cdream's line you think it's funniest, which would be?
What?! You can't make me choose the funniest!... How am I supposed to decide?!... lol like my autistic ass cannot answer your question legitimately as I'd have to analyze all the lore to find the one that makes me laugh the most... and since 90% of the quotes and clips I have are angsty that isn't helpful XD. I guess I'll go with this one:
“Why are we letting Tommy get us into this battle where we’re like double outnumbered?”

A/N: omg i am sorry this took me years to finish, life has been busy but it should calm down soon. i got such a good request the other day and i haven't gotten it off my mind so i will start that tmrw if i have time. also i proofread this at 2am so please ignore any mistakes lol
“The Brutalization Chamber? You want to know what The Brutalization Chamber is?” The Irish man laughed out, his eyebrows raising once you turned your gaze towards him.
An expression of curiosity displayed on your face as you repeated the name of the supposed ‘chamber’. It was obvious to the man that you wanted to know more.
The man began making his way down the stairs, “No offense sweetheart…but I don’t really think this is the place for a girl li-” He tried to speak before being cut off.
What the hell is that supposed to mean?
“I don’t really care what you think sir, I want you to show me what's down there.” You chirped out, following the male down the flight of stairs, your hand hovering over your aching ribs.
“Well shit, if you insist,” The guy chuckled out, “Feisty, she’ll like you.” He muttered under his breath as he opened the door.
She’ll like you…was he talking about the same ‘she’ you had spent your night with? The same woman who just got done unleashing pure cruelty onto you? The same woman who disappeared into this exact building moments ago?
“Name’s Finn by the way,” He mentioned, “It’s just us, the big boss is probably around here somewhere as well.” Finn spoke as you scanned the room looking for ‘the big boss’.
Grimy was the only way to portray the room. Rope lights scattered across the ceiling, some were dim while others flickered. There were freezing concrete walls with cracks littered all over. A red neon sign displaying the letters ‘TBC’. A blood stained ring sat taking up a quarter of the room. Various pieces of gym equipment and punching bags were compressed into a room off to the side.
“So…just a gym?” You questioned the man, there was no sign of Rhea.
“Nah, it’s a little more than just a gym love…think of it as a fight club. A fight club with a fuck ton of money involved.” Finn stated leading into a room the size of a walk-in closet, the room seemingly being a pathetic excuse of a nurses office.
You leaned against the door frame while Finn babbled on as he started unpacking his bag, “People come to us in desperate need for money. They’re entered into our roster, put in the ring and bet on. If they win their match they get fifty percent of all bets placed. Bunch of sick wealthy men love wasting their fortune on this shit.”
“Don’t you think this is just a tad bit illegal?” You chuckled, sending a small wave of pain to your ribs.
“Eh I don’t worry about that too often,” Finn shrugged, digging around his duffle. “Rhea’s not too worried about the legalities when there's this much money involved, she can pay her way out of damn near anything.”
Rhea.
Despite your pain you perked up at the mention of Rhea’s name although you stayed silent.
“Rhea would like you, you’re quiet but there's just something about you, like there’s a fire inside you.” Finn mentioned, pointing at you. “I would introduce you to her but earlier this afternoon one of her top guys lost her like seven thousand. She stormed off to god knows where. Another one of her main guys has a big match in about half an hour. Going up against some new kid we’ve never seen so I’m sure she’s busy worrying her ass off.”
You heard a scoff echo from the main room as footsteps approached. “Jesus fucking christ Finn! Do you ever shut your goddamn mouth?” You heard Rhea sarcastically laugh trying to cover her anger.
You slowly turned to face Rhea, examining her tensed jaw and narrowed eyes. Reality had finally washed over you. The weight of Rhea’s actions flooded into your brain. You couldn’t figure out if you felt more betrayal or anger in the moment.
“Ah! Rhea mate!” Finn exclaimed, trying to divert from Rhea’s critiques. “I was just telling this young lady how much you’d like her…I never caught her name though.”
Your face turned to the ground as you tried to mutter out your name. “We’ve met.” Rhea butted in, her voice was fully flat-devoid of any sign of emotion. That’s when the regret hit you.
You shouldn't have come here.
“I should leave…it seems you guys have a busy night.” You muttered quietly. Rhea took a firm grasp on your forearm, “That can wait, let’s go have a chat.” Rhea said as her head motioned towards what you assumed to be her office.
“No, I-I can come back another time, I really don’t want to be a bother.” You barely managed to stutter out while Rhea’s middle and pointer finger of her opposite hand guided your chin up, forcing you to look at her. “I said let’s go have a chat.” Rhea commanded, her grip on your arm tightening.
You reluctantly followed the woman as she dragged you in the direction of her office. You knew you were in for it big time.
“You are a fucking insane bitch! What could have possibly made you think it was okay to fucking show up to this place?!” Rhea lashed out at you the moment the latches of her door clicked together. She dropped your arm before shoving you towards the other side of the room. You had been lucky enough to catch your balance as you were just inches away from barreling into the concrete walls.
“I just wanted to learn more! I wanted to figure you out Rhea! Can you blame me for wanting to figure out why you’re so angry and cruel every time I see you?” You said loudly, your voice filled with hurt.
“That doesn't give you the goddamn right to follow me to where I work! You don’t fucking get it, these people I work with are dangerous and I don’t want you getting caught up in this bullshit!” Rhea retorted out as her breaths began picking up speed.
“What makes you think I’m so incompetent that I’m incapable of being around danger?! You put me in danger nearly every fucking time I see you! ” Your hands flew around as you yelled at the woman, tears accumulating in your eyes.
Rhea began inching towards you, a look of irritation covering her face. “I don’t fucking put you in danger!”
“Yes you fucking do! You have no idea how many bruises you’ve left me with. The other month you choked me till I passed out, yet you didn’t stop fucking me to check if I was okay! For fucks sake Rhea, an hour ago you left me bleeding and collapsed to the floor!!” All hell had broken loose between the two of you as your tears started escaping from you.
“You told me you could take it! I don’t get why you’re bitching and moaning all of the sudden.” Rhea continued arguing.
Your fist crashed down onto Rhea’s nearby desk, “I can take it rough, but you can’t keep disappearing after being borderline torturous! You’re so damn immature!!” Your screaming matched showed no signs of stopping anytime soon.
“I’m immature? You’re the one that followed me to my job and is throwing a tantrum right now!” Rhea’s voice thundered around the room.
“You don’t get it Rhea! I’m a fucking person and you dont give a shit about me! Why don’t you fucking care?!” You yelled through broken sobs as you started unleashing your sadness and anger onto Rhea, pushing and beating on her chest.
Rhea made no attempt to stop you. She made no moves, just allowing you to inflict your pain onto her.
Once your hands had dropped to your sides in exhaustion and your breaths became heavier as you tried calming yourself down Rhea quietly mumbled, “I do care…”
“But you don’t…” You looked up at her with wide eyes, lifting your shirt. You exposed your aching torso displaying your cut up skin, dried blood pooled around your laceration and the letters of Rhea’s name carved into your skin. “Someone who cares doesn't do this and run away.” You quietly said, your voice strained from the screaming match.
The regret in her eyes was apparent as she darted her eyes away from you. The realization she had gone too far had hit her hard, feeling as if she was being crashed into by an eighteen-wheeler.
Her vulnerability was short lived, Rhea quickly repressed her display of emotion, replacing it with her regular cold and emotionless stare. She had to put on her tough guy attitude. It was her only safety blanket. Emotions are for the weak, Rhea could never be weak.
“You get worse every time I see you, something has to change Rhea…” You breathed out, trying to articulate your speech as you lowered your shirt back down. “If you can’t fix this behavior I’m done.”
“You know you don’t mean that.” Rhea sighed as she ran her hand through her black hair. She didn’t want to lose you but she could never admit that. “I need to think about…everything. Just give me a some t-”
Rhea was cut off by a deep voice from outside the door. “Ten minutes till the bell Rhea.” Rhea rolled her eyes and made her way to the door, “Just give me some fucking time Damian! And go get a roll of gauze from Finn. Quickly.” Rhea demanded after opening the door just a sliver.
You clenched your jaw as you sensed Rhea’s levels of anger were once again rising. The last thing you wanted was to end up back at square one with her. You couldn’t handle another argument with her. Not tonight at least.
The pair of you stood in silence as you waited for the man to return. Once he had arrived he opened the door, handing Rhea the roll of fabric. His eyes curiously examining you through the crack in the door.
“I’ll be out in a minute…” Rhea aggressively muttered before closing the door. She mumbled your name under her breath before walking to her desk.
 “You’re lucky Finn showed up early, only God knows what could have happened to you if one of the other guys showed up before him.” Rhea grunted as she unlocked a drawer and began rummaging through the mess inside.
What is it about her?
“Why such a dark line of work? What made you choose this of all things?” You questioned, you were terrified to set her off but on the other hand you wanted to push for answers from her. It was the only way to get your foot into the door of her life.
Rhea stumbled her way towards you avoiding eye contact, a tube of antibacterial gel in her hand as she shrugged. “Not something you choose. You’re born into it and can’t escape it, you just have to accept it and make the best out of it.” She mumbled while she lifted your shirt up.
Rhea applied a small glob of the antibacterial gel to her finger while she lowered herself to her knees, becoming face to face with your shredded skin. The woman began dabbing the gel onto your skin causing  you to let out a small hiss from the pain.
Once she finished applying all of the gel she wiped the residue from her fingers onto her pant leg and grabbed the roll of gauze. Rhea cleared her throat before speaking up, “Just stay in here for a while, I can take you home after this match.”
“I’m perfectly capable of walking home by myself, Rhea.” You stated, watching Rhea carefully wrap the gauze around your waist.
“I’m walking you home and that’s final.” Rhea stood her ground, “Seriously though, just stay in here. I’ll be back.”
You weren’t planning on fighting about this with her, deciding to keep your mouth shut you let her take the win. “Fine, whatever.” You gave in as Rhea tied a knot in the gauze to hold it in place.
“Shouldn’t be more than twenty minutes.” Was all Rhea had said as she stood up. Nothing else left her lips as she exited the room.
No apology?
You groaned as you sat down in Rhea’s large chair. You blankly stared at the wall for several minutes before your mind started to wander. Exploring anything that popped into your head. Places, things, people, Rhea.
If you were being honest with yourself you were doubting the woman's ability to change her ways. You assumed she would most likely be this way her whole life, although you prayed she had it in herself to change. She had the potential to be great if she would put her pride aside.
It wasn't long until the cheers of the crowd on the opposite side of the door had started drowning out your thoughts.
You wanted to catch a glimpse of the madness. You stood up from the large chair, your feet scuffing the ground as you strolled to the door
You cracked the door open, taking a peek of the ring surrounded by a flock of rowdy men that were yelling. The large man you made eye contact with earlier was in the ring brutalizing a much smaller guy who couldn’t even be older than twenty-five. He was putting on one hell of a fight but it was clear he stood no chance.
Rhea was the only woman there, she was stood right against the ring watching intensely. She had caught your image in the corner of her eyes. Her face turned in your direction, she tilted her head as if she was asking you what the hell you were doing.
You mouthed the word sorry to her before quickly closing the door.
Fifteen excruciatingly boring minutes had passed, the cheers had dispersed into muffled conversations. Rhea had finally arrived back in her office. She seemed content which you enjoyed.
“You ready to go?” Rhea asked, you answered with a simple nod.
As the two of you made your way out of the building Rhea exchanged goodbyes with some of the strange men.
The entire walk was silent, the both of you reflecting on the weird night you had been through together. The silence wasn’t uncomfortable, it was almost peaceful. Having Rhea in your presence when she was somewhat calm was pleasant. You wanted to hold onto this peacefulness for the rest of your life.
It took you by surprise when Rhea insisted on taking you directly to your door instead of just dropping you off in the front of the large building and ditching.
“You didn’t need to take me all the way up here.” You quietly mumbled as you unlocked the door to your apartment. “Lot’s of bad people around this time of night.” Rhea muttered as your door swung open.
You turned around to face the woman, her eyes peering over your head, scanning the entry of your apartment. “There’s bad people around all times of the day. I’m used to it.” You said quietly, her eyes returning to you.
An awkward silence filled the air as the both of you gazed upon each other. Rhea began rubbing her neck, “Uh…I should go. I’m gonna go.” She feebly stated before turning away from you, quickly walking down the hall. She had stormed off before you could even speak up.
Still no apology?
Multiple days had passed. Rhea had made no contact yet. You spent a concerning amount of time just staring at Rhea’s contact in your phone, debating if you should press the call button. Yet you couldn’t bring yourself to do it.
She’d call if she cared enough.
It felt as if life had paused, your days seemed empty. The busy streets of New York City felt devoid of any livelihood. The live music that took place at work sounded muffled. The flavor of your favorite foods had been stripped away. Once colorful flowers sold down at the street market now sat dull.
Days just painfully repeated.
Tonight you had the night off, your only plans were to stare out the window of your bedroom and pray for a text from Rhea.
You sat criss-cross at the edge of your bed twiddling your thumbs, your mind seemingly empty as you stared into the windows of the skyscraper across the street when the sound of a knock echoed down your short hall.
Groaning in annoyance as you got up you began making your way to the door, chewing the inside of your cheek as your feet shuffled below you.
You weren't sure who you were expecting to be in the hall but it completely caught you by surprise when you swung the door open to see the dark haired woman waiting for you.
Without a word Rhea launched herself onto your lips, the force causing you to be pushed back a few inches.
Jesus Christ.
This felt like more than just a kiss, it had an intense amount of passion intertwined into it. Rhea’s hands gripped onto your waist as you backed into the apartment, her foot kicking the door behind her closed.
She had never kissed you in this way before. Before tonight you had only received measly pecks while the two of you had sex. It was never emotional.
Rhea slowly pulled away from your lips, both of your breaths were heavy as she finally spoke, “Fuck, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”
Finally.
“God, I’ve treated you like shit and I have been such a dick. It’s been the only thing on my mind. You don’t deserve that, It’s not okay.” Rhea began rambling as you stared into each other's eyes. “I get it if you never want to see me again but please just give me a chance, I’ll do whatever it takes. I’ll get my temperament under control, I’ll go to therapy, whatever you say I will do it.”
“Rhea-” You whispered, trying to calm her down but she continued her rant.
“I want to know you, more than just your body. I wanna know everything, The good, the bad, the boring…I wanna know what pisses you off and what makes you cry. I don’t know why I kept you a stranger for so long and I’m sorry for that.”
You led Rhea into your small living room as you listened to her rambling. You took a seat in your chaiser lounge and ushered her to sit in front of you as her speech continued on. “I don’t know why I ran away…I think it's cause I didn't want to hurt you. But I did hurt you, so badly. I don’t want to run away anymore, I had no right to ever hurt you the way I did, just for me to leave you alone right after. It’s the worst thing I’ve ever done and I’ll never forgive myself for it. It’s just that I-”
“Rhea!” You slightly raised your voice causing Rhea to finally close her mouth. You leaned closer to her, placing a quick and gentle kiss on her lips. “You’re okay, don’t worry.” You comforted the woman, softly chuckling.
“I didn’t interrupt your night did I?” Rhea asked, slightly nervous as she scootched up closer to you. You shook your head no as a smile creeped on your face.
It didn’t take long for the two of you to end up in a heated makeout session, your hands roaming over one another's clothing. Rhea groaned your name against your lips before pulling back just a few centimeters.
“Please let me show you how sorry I am.” She practically pleaded, her eyes full of desperation, “Yes please” you quietly giggled, your eyes adoring the woman's face. The second Rhea heard the word yes echo from your mouth her lips went straight for your neck, causing a whimper to escape from you.
Rhea took her time as she kissed upon your neck, carefully leaving soft love bites every so often, marking the skin a flushed pink shade. Her lips only leaving your skin as she pulled off your sweater before she began peckering kisses against your collarbones.
Her hands crept behind your back, unclasping your bra and pulling it from your chest. Your fingers grazed upon Rhea’s tense shoulders as she left a path of kisses down your torso.
As Rhea’s face reached the base of your stomach, her eyes fixated on your face as if she was asking for your blessing. You gave her a nod before lifting your hips into the air, allowing her to slide your sweatpants off your legs.
 “Rhea, please,” You whined out while Rhea’s fingers toyed with the seam of your panties. Rhea grinned to herself as she slowly shed the final layer of clothing off your body.
The woman wasted no time connecting her mouth to your heat, causing you to let out a breathy moan. “So fucking beautiful…” Rhea praised against your skin.
Truthfully, her tongue felt like heaven as it worked its way around your wetness. Rhea didn't want to rush you. This wasn't for her, she just wanted to make sure you knew she had the ability in her to change for the better.
Your breaths picked up their pace as Rhea’s hand inched its way closer to your core. Her ring and middle finger traced a circle around the perimeter of your entrance before slowly being pushed into you.
“Shit,” You whined out, your back arching as both Rhea’s tongue and digits worked their magic on you. Although you enjoyed roughhousing with the woman, you undoubtedly appreciated the amount of care Rhea was putting into you.
You were a whimpering mess under Rhea’s touch, and she loved every small sound that escaped from your mouth.
“More! Please, I can take it!” You begged for more of her. Rhea obliged, sliding her pointer finger into your tightness causing you to roll your eyes back as her fingers filled your insides.
“That’s it baby,” Rhea preached quietly when your hips began to rock against her fingers, your moans filling the room. “Such a good girl for me.” She added on before her tongue got back to sailing over your clit, her fingers picking up their pace.
Your legs tightened around Rhea’s head as your orgasm quickly approached. “C’mon sweet girl, let go.” Rhea’s encouraging words were muffled, your walls clenched around her curling fingers.
“Fuck Rhea!” You squealed out as the knot that filled your stomach released onto Rhea’s fingers. Your hips twitched into the air as the fingers inside of you helped you ride out your climax.
Rhea was grinning ear-to-ear as she slowly pulled her fingers out of your hole. She groaned in pleasure, licking her fingers clean.
She soon brought her face to meet yours, her plumped lips giving your jaw a kiss before whispering in your ear.
“How’s that for an apology, hm?”

wc: 5.9K ❀ pairing for the series: professor!higuruma x student!reader
❀ summary.
after your roommate fails to replenish the coffee in your dorm room, you drag your insomniac ass towards the cafeteria before heading to your first criminal law class. unfortunately, things don't go as expected — it's so, so much worse than you could have anticipated. at least, your personal torturer is very good-looking, and has the most beautiful hooked nose you have ever seen.
❀ Tags and c/w.
non-curse au. college au. silly slow-burn rom-com between professor and college student (this is purely a work of fiction, okay guys?) reader is kind of a mess (like, literally). this is cliché with some twists. nobara is the best and worst roomie ever. nobamaki is a thing here. nobody likes cafeteria coffee. higuruma has a best friend, i'm so happy about that. second hand embarrassment. misunderstandings are talked through and resolved. higuruma is a little unhinged, and we love him for that.
thank you so much @redlikerozez for betaing this 🥺

Your morning was a clusterfuck.
Diving your face in ice cold water did absolutely nothing to wake you from your anxiety ridden all-nighter. The world felt like a half dazed hallucination by this point.
Your energy was running so low this morning that you wound up putting your jeans on top of your pajamas pants, throwing a coat over the rest of the mess, and twirling your hair into something that could barely be considered a bun, topping it all off with the ugliest scarf you had — a red polka-dot scarf.
It seemed to be a taunting from the Gods — this was, for some supernatural reason, the only scarf you ever found when you were running late, and you hated the thing, but feared that if you threw it away, some higher power would punish you, and you'd never find another scarf to wear.
You were also scared that if you tried taking a shower, you might end up sleeping under it.
"What are you doing?" your roommate asked, as you pulled your face from the bowl filled with water and ice cubes. "Jesus, you look like hell."
"Trying to crawl my way back to the world of the living. It's not working."
Nobara walked behind you and opened the mini-fridge, grabbing a single slice of cheese and rolling it up to eat it.
"Oh, a breakfast fit for the champions" you mocked, while patting your face with a tea towel.
She scoffed. "Get off my ass, I didn't have the time for groceries."
"Oh, you totally had the time, you just spent it all with your girlfriend in her room!"
Nobara grabbed a crumpled tissue that she found over the counter and threw it in your direction.
You dodged it because you weren’t sure what the fuck that tissue had been used for cleaning.
"Leave me the hell alone! I deserved it before classes started," she complained, pouting.
You laughed as you walked towards the coffee machine, to see if some liquid energy would be enough to pump you through the day.
"Aren't you supposed to be out there already? Weren't you going to head into criminal law today or whatever?" she asked.
And you were, actually.
"So, how is he?" you inquired, tapping around the coffee machine and behind it, looking for the coffee powder.
"Professor Higuruma, you mean?" Nobara got up and walked towards her bed, throwing herself over it like a rag doll. "I still haven't had class with him, but according to Maki, he's kinda weird."
"Your girlfriend's definition of weird for the male faculty members is too broad, Nobara. She said the same thing about at least four or five professors."
She shrugged. "According to gossip, professor Higuruma had to take some time off academia after his PhD because of a mental breakdown."
"Well, he is the guy that got two masters degrees simultaneously and one PhD right after. I guess that does things to a person" you mocked, opening the cabinet drawer. Where is the coffee?
"Oh, that's why he's the head of two chairs?!"
"Yup, Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law."
"Well, from what Maki has told me, he likes to quiz his students on the spot randomly," Nobara stated as she pulled her phone from her night stand and began texting.
After looking all around and not finding the coffee powder, you were very much annoyed.
"Nobara, where is the coffee?"
"We don't have any," she answered nonchalantly, still with her eyes glued to her phone.
You whipped your head towards her so fast, you nearly hurt your neck.
"Nobara, I need coffee. This is not a drill! It's my first criminal law class!"
"Oh, future criminal defense attorney, you definitely need some coffee, no one in their good mind would be wearing whatever the hell that is," she noted, pointing at you. "Especially that ugly red thing around your neck. Why do you still have that?"
"Ugh, now I'll have to go into the cafeteria before class to drink their awful coffee, and it's entirely your fault. Wardrobe editing rights are officially revoked!"
You stepped towards the door grabbing your bag as you heard her ask, "Hhey, is that your pajamas top?"
"No!" you replied, pulling your coat over your hello kitty pajamas top, before going out.
***
I can't fucking believe this.
You got in line to buy an overpriced $2 coffee — overpriced because it basically tasted like dirty water flavored with the souls of the damned — as you looked at your watch nearly every twenty seconds or so.
This coffee was so bad you usually tried to cover it up with milk, syrup and whatever else they had at their clients' disposal, but the aftertaste was always — always — completely cursed.
While in line, you noticed the guy who stood in front of you, and got distracted from your hurry by his back, as silly as that might sound.
He was tall — not the tallest, but at least a head above you — and his black hair was neatly cut by the tail end where his neck met his black suit collar. His posture was a little crooked to the side, one shoulder hanging a little lower than the other, and it felt kind of… charming?
Realizing you were nearly burning a hole in the man's back with your eyes, you averted your gaze elsewhere.
This is pathetic. I'm pathetic.
You figured that you had to be really sleep-deprived — and, honestly, kinda lonely — to be simping over some random guy's back.
Not only that, but while waiting in line at the campus cafeteria, the less sexy place to ever exist.
Class. I need coffee. I need to get to class. I'm pathetic. I’m also almost late.
And almost late you were. Somehow, you managed to wait just until you'd be a little too fumbled on the clock in order to get your ass out of your dorm room's bed to do something about it, and never even bothered to check if there would be any coffee to be made.
Just one of the many minor self-sabotaging shit you pulled against yourself from time to time.
After grabbing the damned drink and tainting it with further things to mask its terrible taste, your sleepless and nearly-late ass, when running across the cafeteria, body slammed by accident the same guy that was in line right in front of you. He was then covered in your coffee — an unholy concoction of said beverage, cold water, milk, and pancake syrup for sweetening.
Not only that, but to top it all off, you chuckled right after you began apologizing, actually laughing at the poor man.
It wasn't because the situation was even remotely funny, or that you were cackling at his humiliation. You just had the laughter response to stressful or embarrassing situations.
At church, during the national anthem, at an accident, or in the middle of a very hard test — whenever you were really stressed, you found yourself having to hold your urge to cackle.
Unfortunately, even after twenty-seven years, this was something you hadn’t quite mastered yet.
As you tried to grab some napkins from the counter behind him, you slipped, ceasing the laughter immediately.
Instant karma. Seems fair.
Before you hit the ground, though, he held you by your waist and with a hand on your arm. You felt the taut muscles under the suit enveloping you and pulling you back on your feet in one dexterous, swift motion. His shoulders were not slouched anymore.
"Shit, shit, I'm so sorry!" you exclaimed, trying to shuffle yourself away from him. His grip was tight, clearly from someone that had just been startled, and his body felt warm — especially considering you had just covered the poor guy in hot liquid.
As you parted yourself from him, you finally took a good look at the man.
The best words to describe him right now were disheveled mess. His tie was crumpled, his white button shirt had a massive brown stain from the coffee spilled, his short black hair was messily pulled back leaving a few strands out to frame his forehead, and his ashy black eyes were clearly surprised as he tried to check if you were alright.
And that beautiful hooked nose.
He was definitely brooding and good-looking — the tired, overworked, insomniac, bags under his eyes and two steps away from sleeping on his feet kind of good-looking.
The front certainly matches the back.
Then, realizing your mind was doing whirls about his appearance, you shook your head for a moment, dispersing the thoughts away.
"It's fine, just let me-" he answered, taping his hands around his suit, seemingly looking for something.
You had nearly forgotten you were tight on time until you heard the bell ringing. He turned around startled when it rang, cussing something under his breath, which gave you the perfect opportunity to dash away.
"I'm very sorry! I'm really late for my next class, I need to run, but I'm so, so sorry!" you blurted as you took off running, feeling a tinge of guilt knowing full well you had left him alone to fend off for himself with that abominable coffee stain.
So, why clusterfuck?
When you arrived in class, having lost yourself on campus twice when running around like a dizzy duck in a fatigued haze trying to find the right classroom, you saw who was sitting at the professor's desk in front of the entire classroom.
That huge coffee spill was pretty visible, even if he had now closed his suit jacket on top of it.
Shit.
The man was fumbling around with some papers over his desk with one hand while he adjusted his glasses — that he wasn't wearing earlier — with the other.
You sat in the back of the classroom, which had an amphitheater architecture to it. If you were lucky enough, though, maybe he wouldn't notice you.
However, upon further inspection, you noticed that the back of the class was especially empty, and realized at that moment you were standing out like a sore thumb.
This couldn't get any worse, could it?
You wished for a hole to appear right under your feet and drag you down.
"So, good morning to you all. I apologize for my late arrival. As you can all tell, I had to face some unforeseen circumstances," he began, pulling on the edge of his jacket suit to reveal the brown-colored Rorschach of shame plastered over his white shirt.
Some students laughed, and you recoiled in your seat, praying this was all just a first-day-in-class-embarrassment type of dream.
It wasn't.
"Welcome to Criminal Law I. My name is Higuruma Hiromi, and I'll be your professor. I hope you all can learn a thing or two from me," he said, before stepping in front of his desk and sitting over it.
"So, I'd like to begin this class with the following question: what is fairness?"
Some hands jumped up, and you slid yourself under your seat even further, surely to hit the ground if you sunk any deeper.
Higuruma's eyes began darting around the classroom.
Something you'd learn in a second about him was that he liked to poke at the students who didn't seem keen in participating, just to create some stormy engagement and get truly unexpected answers.
The ones who lifted their hands, the classic know-it-alls, were the students he considered to be remarkably boring and utterly predictable.
"You," he stated, and it took you a few seconds — and multiple blinks — to realize his finger was pointing in your direction. "Girl with the red scarf, tell me what you think fairness is."
You were at a complete loss for words.
"I… I… Fairness…"
Then silence.
You couldn't muster up anything to say to save your life.
You really should have slept better.
He sighed, and tilted his head to the side.
"Guess I'll have to demonstrate it."
Nobody understood what the professor meant, and much to everyone's surprise, he began walking up towards you, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose as he did so.
Then, looking straight at you, he stood beside the exit door, and gestured towards it.
"Girl with the red scarf, please, leave this classroom."
Before you could actually be offended that he didn't even ask your name, you felt your stomach drop, and your face glow a warm, deeply uncomfortable red.
Out of everything you thought could happen, getting kicked out of the classroom within the first five minutes into a lecture wasn’t even listed as one of the top 10 alternatives.
What the fuck? Isn't that a little excessive?
Speechless, you grabbed your backpack from the ground, and lifted yourself up, standing there for a few seconds, completely dumbfounded. The classroom was silent enough that a needle falling on the ground could be heard.
And then, suddenly, the urge came upon you, raining down like a hailstorm.
Laughter bubbled up your throat, and you coughed a little, pursing your lips shut, scrunching your face all around, trying to avoid any sound from leaking out.
He looked at you a little puzzled, and seemed to be wondering if you were about to have a stroke.
You began walking towards the door, but as you were about to cross it, he extended his arm in front of you, blocking your passageway.
"Stay there for a second."
"What?" you asked, coughing a little to shy the laughter away, and his face was once again briefly puzzled when he heard your voice.
A few seconds later, he softly shook off whatever thought that was, and resumed speaking.
"Is this fair? Asking a student to leave a classroom because they failed to answer an open-ended question?" he inquired the other students, waiting for someone to answer.
"N-no, it's not," some guy answered from the front.
Higuruma gestured for you to seat back where you were, and you clumsily stepped your way back, face flustered in utter and absolute embarrassment. This was definitely how bad it all could get. Is he dunking on me for spilling coffee on him and running? That's petty.
 The man was certifiably insane. He was lucky to be so good-looking.
"And why it is not?" he proceeded with the questioning, slowly walking back towards the front of the class again.
"It would be excessive to do so," another student answered.
"Correct. Precisely that, it would be excessive," Higuruma chimed, sitting back over his desk, legs mildly spread as he opened his suit jacket and mindlessly smoothed out his tie with one of his hands. "Criminal Law isn't just about subsuming a person's actions to something the law has described as a crime, and then mechanically submitting said person to some randomly prescribed penalty. Fairness is the most vital and important theoretical foundation when studying criminal law. Not answering a question could be considered some type of in-class offense, sure, and expulsion from the classroom is one possible way to punish the deviant student, but it would be disproportionate and unreasonable to do so."
His gravely voice filled that classroom with no effort whatsoever, and it was an actually pretty good exposition.
It was one thing to describe what a sunset looks like, and another, very different, was to actually show one happening in real time. Words paled in comparison to the crimson, purplish sky engulfing the end of a day.
Most of your teachers, up until this point, had simply begun writing something on the white board at the start of each class, and made less than memorable remarks while spitting out the theory written in the recommended books list in the syllabus. So distant, so abstract, so… Detached from real life.
This was thought-provoking. This was enthralling. Well, this was the reason you enrolled in law school in the first place.
For a moment, you forgot this professor had just exercised his petty revenge on you, propping yourself up with trepidation. Your tiredness was completely forgotten as his monologue ensued.
He was the real deal.
"Fairness. It will be your guide to assess if a given penalty after a verdict is adequate or not, if someone who acted in self-defense should be found innocent or exceeded their rights in doing so… If the law itself is good enough as it is or should be subject to change, because a penalty might be too high for a seemingly innocuous offense that shouldn't even be a crime in the first place."
Higuruma paused for a moment to let his students simmer on his words.
"Fairness is the be-all and end-all of Criminal Law. I need everyone to understand this before we proceed, because fairness will be our primary lens in this classroom when studying the subject. So, can I trust that all of you understood what fairness looks like, rather than what it can be conceptualized as?"
He darted his eyes in your direction, and you saw yourself unconsciously nodding in acquiescence.
You were sure you caught a whiff of a smile on his face right before he resumed his introductory class of principles in criminal law.
***
“We are the only nerds that do this in the teacher’s lounge,” Higuruma stated, as he made his next move on the checkers board.
“You’re probably right,” Higuruma’s best friend replied in his pristine striped gray suit vest, as he thought for a second before making his own move and taking three consecutive pieces of Higuruma’s checkers as he did.
Higuruma groaned in response. Why does he always win on checkers? Goddammit.
“How are you so good at this, Kento? Let’s play chess, just so then I get to win” he complained, leaning back against his chair. “ I can see you winning this one in three moves.”
Nanami huffed. “Checkers was your idea. Besides, we both have our classes soon, there wouldn’t be enough time for a proper chess game.”
Higuruma removed his glasses and slid them inside one of his suit jacket’s inner pockets, brushing the tips of his fingers against his closed eyelids. He couldn’t catch a wink of rest the previous night, anxious to be back in a classroom after such a long time.
It all became very blurry, so he put his glasses back on.
Higuruma didn’t know if he was eager, nervous, happy or dreading this day.
Perhaps a mix of everything and then some.
“I needed something to wake me up. I’ve barely slept, and I’m in dire need of some coffee.”
“You could try drinking the coffee from the teacher’s lounge,” Nanami pointed out, gesturing his head in the direction of a creepy looking and unkempt thermal bottle. “I wouldn’t advise you on it, though. Only professor Ieiri has been brave enough to drink it so far.”
“I guess I’ll take my chances with the foul cafeteria coffee, I might survive that.”
Nanami smiled as he looked at his friend.
“You’re too overly dramatic.”
At that, Higuruma scoffed.
“And you’re too underly dramatic. That’s why I teach the passionate, great chair of Criminal Law, and you’re responsible for the boring, sleep-inducing chair of Commercial Law.”
“It pays the bills pretty well at my firm,” the other professor retorted.
Higuruma lifted an eyebrow, as if offended that Nanami thought that argument would dissuade him from his stance.
They were both silent for a moment before Nanami spoke again, noticing the deep eye bags on Higuruma's face.
“Are you having trouble sleeping?”
“No more than the usual,” Higuruma replied, shuffling on his chair, still focused on the checkers board.
Nanami lifted an inquisitive eyebrow, silent for a while, and Higuruma sighed.
“I mean it. I’m fine.”
Still a little unsure, Nanami nodded.
“Okay. Just reach out and come to my office if you need anything,” he offered, slight concern masked under the monotone of his voice.
“Aw, he likes me,” Higuruma playfully chanted. “So thoughtful of you, my dear.”
“Tsk, shut up,” Nanami scoffed as he got up, taking his neatly folded blazer on his bent arm, “and it’d take me two moves instead of three to have this victory over you.”
“Seriously?!” Higuruma exclaimed, glancing at the board. Upon further inspection, he realized his friend was right. “Shit.”
“Hiromi, go drink your coffee at once. You’re barely functional right now, there is absolutely no way you could teach a class in the state you’re in.”
“Kento, I could teach criminal law in my sleep,” Higuruma mused before lifting himself up. Nanami sighed as Higuruma exited the room.
***
This might be the worst coffee I’ve ever drank, Higuruma thought to himself as he put his cup over the counter and removed his glasses to pinch on his nose. It was all but a failed attempt to air out the foul taste of that watered down, sad excuse for a coffee.
He tried drinking it with nothing — no sugar, no milk, no sweetener, but this atrocity begged for anything to mask the old powder aftertaste.
After folding his glasses and throwing them in one of his suit’s inner pockets, Higuruma let out a heartfelt sigh, just hoping for things to go smoothly that day.
He'd have his hopes torn to shreds in seconds.
Some loud, hasty steps coming in his direction caught his attention, but as soon as he turned to face whoever that was, Higuruma was met with a hot splash all over his shirt and tie.
You have to be kidding me.
“Shit! I’m so sorry!”
He heard a female voice coming from the blurred face right in front of him. Her voice was what he’d call an unusually sweet — if worried — voice. It had a genuinely kind melodic quality to it.
Even if hasty, her words sounded like a heartfelt apology.
Then, she… chuckled?
Hm… What?
She seemed to lean over dramatically and grab something from behind his back.
However, on the way back with her arm, her body brushed against his in a worrying fashion, and Higuruma quickly realized she was about to fall. Even though he was over 24 hours sleepless, adrenaline and his reflexes kicked in, as he held her before she could hit the ground, pulling her against him to stand on her feet.
He was still somewhat disoriented from lack of sleep, and failed to realize his hand was still holding her arm intently before the woman squiggled away from his grip.
There was a red blurry thing under her also blurred face.
Only then did he realize he should probably see her face and talk to her properly about the debacle.
The professor said it was fine and began tapping around his suit, not remembering in which pocket exactly he threw his glasses in. However, before he found it, the bell that indicated the time for the first class rang, and Higuruma realized he had completely lost track of time.
"Fuck," first class and already running late.
The woman seemed to apologize and ran away, leaving him dumbfounded.
The professor finally managed to find his glasses, fishing them out of his pocket and putting them on, glad that his next class was at the building just around the corner.
He walked hastily towards it, and got there in less than a couple of minutes, seizing the opportunity to check on his state on the mirror as he entered the elevator.
The coffee stain was humongous and very evident on his white shirt, but he was glad that at least his black tie seemed to fend off fine from the beverage. As Higuruma passed his fingers over the fabric of both pieces, however, it was somewhat sticky.
He let out a disheartened sigh, stepping out on the corridor and into the classroom, placing his briefcase on the side of his desk.
Now, what will I teach these people today?
Hiromi began ruffling around his papers trying to find the course syllabus, and realized he hadn't brought it with him. These papers were nothing but useless administrative shenanigans, so he decided to wing it in any way he could to illustrate criminal law for the students.
The thing is, how can you effectively grab someone's attention when it's 7 o'clock in the morning, and most people are completely hungover?
With adrenaline, of course.
***
The rest of the class went on without a hiccup, and you had made much more notes than you anticipated you would. His voice had a weird calming and focusing effect on you, as much as you hated admitting it — also, it wasn't so hard accompanying him walking around making his exposition when his face looked like that.
However, you decided you'd talk to him, first off because it would be incredibly uncomfortable to keep going to both of his classes for six months without ever addressing the coffee faux pas, and second because you had just been victimized by the pettiest revenge known to mankind by a college professor.
You kind of deserved it, but still. It was pretty immature, even if he was Dr. Genius who just taught the best class you had ever seen in your life.
"So, students, we'll have a quick test this week," Higuruma stated, "the Dean has requested that all professors use these to assess your knowledge every month, and I'd like to get this over with as soon as possible."
Many sighs and displeased grunts could be heard around the classroom. He leaned over his desk as he sat, putting his papers away in his briefcase.
"I know, I don't like it either, but at least you'll only need to study a week's worth of content, not a month."
Some hm, fine, ugh, were uttered by the students as they left the classroom. You walked hesitantly behind them all, waiting for everyone to leave before you could speak to him alone.
You were already going to be remembered as the girl mock expelled from the classroom. No one needed to know you also had assaulted their professor with a desecrated cup of coffee before that.
As you stepped in front of his desk, he lifted his gaze to meet yours.
"Yes?"
Something you hadn't anticipated was that looking at him — and his hooked nose — up close like this would jumble your thoughts around.
Oh, shit. He's handsome.
Dumbified, you spat out the first thing you could think of.
"So, professor, I'm the student you fake expelled earlier," you stated, realizing he obviously already knew that.
Brilliant. Off to a great start.
Higuruma nodded, feeling something prickling at the back of his brain as he heard your voice for a second time.
"What did you think? Was it a good way to convey this class motif?" he asked, finally closing his briefcase and putting it on the ground, completely ignoring the fact that it was probably an uncomfortable experience for all of the people involved, especially you.
You were a little incredulous at how oblivious he seemed to be, and it annoyed you. Was this out of good heart, or was he playing dumb?
"It was a good exposition, professor, but I wanted to talk about something else," you answered.
“5000 yen.”
“... What?”
“That’s my law firm’s hourly fee.”
You stood silent. He chuckled a little, shrugging back.
“I’m joking. I don’t even have a practice. Tell me what you need.”
Is this guy for real?
You cleared your throat before continuing.
“It felt horrible to be on the spot like that out of nowhere, without any knowledge as to what was going on.”
After blurting it out, you braced yourself, knowing full well by now that professors were usually pretty big ego'd kind of people. Nonetheless, this had to be said, at least for the sake of the next student he decided to torture with one of his experiments.
He looked at you with wide eyes, and seemed to ponder for a moment.
“Oh, I see. My apologies,” Higuruma offered in earnest, while his face softened.
You were very surprised.
“Oh, okay," you mumbled as you scratched the back of your neck, "I accept your apology. But maybe you should really give the student a heads-up next time you intend to do that.”
“That would presume I consider that students are people, and not minions to torture.”
Uh?
“Also a joke.”
“You’re not very good with those.”
Did I say that out loud?
He simply stared surprised at you, seemingly a little shocked.
I did say it out loud.
"Fuck."
And that too.
After a few moments of uncomfortable silence, Higuruma suddenly chuckled, much to your surprise. Your eyes widened, and you stared at him, extremely confused as to what was up with this guy.
“You're a sincere person," he noted, and you shrugged hesitantly.
Higuruma was definitely amused at this exchange.
He then proceeded.
"Being sincere is good, but my best friend always warns me to try keeping it to myself most of the time. I don’t listen, of course, but maybe you should for now. People get offended easily.”
His exposition made you feel a little less out of place — and less alone, for what it was worth. You instantly remembered your parents used to chide you for blurting out things like that out of nowhere, instead of keeping them in your head like other people do, according to them.
You didn't realize you were smiling as you mindlessly opened your coat.
He took notice of your shirt, and began slowly realizing there was something off about it.
"Is that usual?" you asked, out of the blue.
He shook his head, being pulled out of his head. "What?"
"The mock expulsion?"
"Heavens, no."
"Then, why?" you inquired.
He rubbed his face with his hands.
"Because I needed something to wake mine and everybody else's brain up. Classes shouldn't be this early, and I didn't get a wink of sleep last night."
Higuruma was still out of sorts, spilling the tea of his insomniac state to one of his random students whom he had just met.
"Oh, me neither!" you told him, also absentmindedly, on a stream of consciousness rant towards a professor you were talking to for the first time. "Classes should start after noon, at the very least…"
"I know, right? Some things shouldn't be a crime, but making people wake up this early for class definitely ought to be."
You laughed softly, and you both kept silent for a moment, before you remembered what you thought was the reason for the mock punishment.
"Oh, professor… I'm sorry about the coffee."
He was confused for a few moments before broadening his eyes as he finally realized it.
No wonder Higuruma felt like he recognized your voice from somewhere, and now he took a good look at the red smudge he had seen earlier under what he figured was your face.
It was the ugliest scarf he had ever seen.
"I came here wanting to ask if you had done the fake expulsion thing as some sort of…" you sighed, a little ashamed. "Well, I'd like to apologize for staining your clothes, and offer to get you new ones, or at least pay for your laundry fee if needed."
He lifted one eyebrow at you before he resumed speaking.
"I didn't catch your face then. I mean, I didn't recognize you at all," Higuruma answered, "so no. But I'd never… Well, you barely know me, so you wouldn't know, but my opinion on the matter is that professors that exert selfish vendettas against students, for whatever reason, are absolute fools."
"You didn't recognize me? Say what now?"
He pointed at his glasses, and you finally understood completely how all of this petty revenge narrative was entirely in your head.
"I-I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"It's okay."
"But still…"
He sighed.
"It was a possibility, given how things in a college setting usually go, but that is why we investigate things further before prosecuting, right? A narrative might make a lot of sense, up until you confront it with the gathered evidence."
You joined your hands in front of you, embarrassed.
"Yes, I guess so," you answered, "but please, let me at least pay to get your clothes cleaned."
The professor shook his head.
"Absolutely not. You're an undergraduate student. I've been one, I'm quite aware of the financial hardships most of you endure as I've struggled with them myself not so long ago."
Even though you felt somewhat uncomfortable about not evening things out, he was right. This money would be fairly missed — you were already missing the $2 worth of coffee you didn't manage to drink.
"It was an accident, you didn't cover me with your beverage intentionally. Also, you had to leave because you were late for my class," he paused, "and I'm actually flattered you'd leave someone to fend off for themselves against that foul cafeteria coffee just to run to one of my classes."
You chuckled a little, and he proceeded.
"So, it's okay. You don't have to pay me for anything. This is fine."
You sighed, truly relieved, and he was glad you came to talk to him and properly apologize for the blunder.
"Thank you for your time and kindness, professor. I hope you have a good day."
He bowed his head slightly.
"Same to you."
However, something was still scratching at the back of his mind.
"Hm, hey… since we are on the topic of clothing and I just let you off the hook on paying for my dry cleaning…" Higuruma said, and you stopped midway towards the door, turning to face him.
"This might be an odd question, but I'm very curious."
"Hm… what is it?"
He pointed at your sleeping shirt, now evident under the open coat.
"Are those pajamas?"
You immediately pulled your coat over your hello kitty top, lifting one eyebrow in pathetic defiance.
"Of course… not?"
Higuruma thought to himself that you were turning into one of the most unique students he ever had.
"Do you intend to be an attorney?"
"... yes?" You answered, with some suspicion.
He huffed.
"Then improve your lying game for Court. You can do your crazy, but defend it as if it was the utmost truth in the universe, okay?"
Higuruma couldn't quite explain it, but this conversation with you was strangely amusing.
Maybe going back to the classroom wouldn't be so difficult after all, if even half of his students were a little out of sorts like this.
"... Okay," you replied, removing your hand and letting your pathetic sanrio pajamas shirt show once again.
"So, are those pajamas?" he inquired again, more incisively.
You straightened yourself and made a fake serious expression.
"Of course not."
"Much better," Higuruma answered with an actual smile.
The way his cheek creased around his mouth was weirdly charming, just as most things about him, it seemed.
Trying not to stare, you smiled back at Higuruma and turned around, leaving for your next class with heat prickling against your cheeks.

[CoD masterlist]
Tumblr media
“You hear about that new fella from KorTac we’re supposed to workin’ with?” Gaz asked as he took a seat beside you in the briefing room. Price stood at the head of the table, looking at paperwork.
“Yeah, I reckon that’s what this little meeting is all about. He’s a great sniper, supposedly,” you said, unconvinced.
“Listen up,” Price finally said. “I’m speaking to you two before König comes in because I know how you can be.”
“König? The man calls himself king?” You rolled your eyes. “Ugh, can’t wait to meet this one.”
“Sergeant,” the captain warned.
“Sorry,” you mumbled.
“You speak German?” Gaz asked you.
“Not much, but—”
“Would you two focus?” Price huffed. “You two will be nice to our guest, won’t you? Especially you.” He pointed at you. “You’ll be working with him the most.”
“What?” You sat up defiantly. “I’m a sniper. Why do I have to work with another?” you complained.
“You’ll do it because I’m telling you to,” the captain said, and you made a face as Gaz chuckled.
“Good luck with your king,” he teased. You were about to punch him on the arm when the door opened, and Price hushed you both.
A hulk of a man ducked his head to walk through the door, and you were stunned into silence.
“Bloody fuckin’ hell,” Gaz said beside you.
“Screaming Jesus,” you whispered.
“Gaz, Sergeant, this is König,” Price introduced. Now that you’ve seen his size, you can see why he called himself King.
“You’re a sniper?” you asked. His sheer size would give him away.
“Yes,” he said in accented English.
That was the only thing you could ask him right now. You surveyed him with your eyes. He seemed flustered by all the attention, wringing his hands nervously.
“That’ll be your partner.” The captain nodded to you, and you lifted your hand awkwardly. You were practically gawking at him. You stood slowly and walked over to him, feeling smaller with each step.
“Nice to meet you.” You held your hand out to him, and he took it in a gentle grip. You looked up into his eyes which were also soft.
“The pleasure is mine, ma’am.” He kept shaking your hand until you cleared your throat. “Entschuldige…”
“It’s okay,” you responded, and he looked at you with something akin to wonder in his eyes.
“Sprichst du Deutsch?” he asked.
“Ich spreche nur ein Wenig Deutsch,” you said, holding up your thumb and forefinger to show him how little German you could speak. That little bit of German you spoke seemed to put him at ease.
“I guess I’ll show you around, König,” you offered.
“Yes. Okay.” He waited for you to walk so he could follow.
Tumblr media
He was so silent beside you that it was almost scary.
“You don’t talk much, do you?” you asked.
“I don’t want to annoy you or anything, ma’am,” he said softly.
“You won’t, and you don’t have to call me ma’am. Same rank and all. So…have you always been a sniper?” you asked.
“No. Not many people believed I could be.”
“No offense, but it’s easy to see why. I don’t think I’ve seen a sniper as big as you. Hell, I don’t think I’ve seen a man as big as you. Ever.” You blinked up at him.
Could you not let your size kink peek through for just one second?
“My size intimidates people, so it comes in handy,” he told you.
“Well, I think you’re a gentle giant, my friend.”
Tumblr media
A gentle giant he was and had stayed—towards you and the others he worked with, at least. He was a beast of a man when it came to enemies and protecting you. You knew the glint in his eyes when you saw it. There were times when even you had to calm him down.
“König, look at me,” you’d say, and he’d focus only on you, his green gaze softening almost immediately. “There you are.”
Tumblr media
“You’re hurt,” he said, pointing at the blood dripping from your hand.
“Nothing a few bandages won’t fix.”
“I will fix it,” he offered.
“It’s not a big deal, re—”
“Sit,” he demanded in a gruff voice, and you sat. It was nice to have some quiet after all the shooting you had done earlier. You two were in one of the safe houses now.
“So bossy,” you joked.
“You should know me by now, meine Freundin. I do not like seeing you hurt.” He knelt in front of you. You only smiled and watched how efficiently he moved, his big hands gentler than any you had ever been touched by.
“It’s only a scra—AH!” you yelped as he cleaned the wound with antiseptic.
“Only a scratch, hm?” He tore the bandage open with his teeth, letting out a little growl. You shifted in the chair noticeably.
“Don’t move so much,” he scolded.
“Sorry.”
He was meticulous in his bandaging so that it was neat and kept the wound clean.
“There. You take it easy with that hand,” he told you.
“No promises.” You smiled. “Thanks.”
“Bitte.” He stayed kneeling in front of you.
“What do you look like under there?” you asked, tilting your head and looking into his eyes.
“I am hideous,” he joked.
You giggled. “Or perhaps it’s the opposite. You’re too handsome, so you must hide your face to stop everyone from going mad over your beauty.”
“If beauty made people go mad, you would certainly have to cover your face. For you would drive even the most emotionless of men insane,” he said, and you had never heard anything more romantic in your life.
“König…you’re a romantic,” you said.
“Don’t.” He stood up, and you knew you had made him blush.
“No, really. That was the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me.”
“Well, I meant it. You are…beautiful.” He walked away and sat down at the small table.
“Do I make you nervous?” you asked without looking at him.
“Nein…well, sometimes.” He was happy you weren’t looking at him. He felt as though he could speak his mind that way. “Only because I have come to like you so much, but I am afraid to act on it because if something happens, then….”
“I like you too, König,” you confessed.
“You’ve never seen my face,” he started.
“I don’t have to see your face to like you.”
“Who’s romantic now?” he joked, and you finally looked at him over your shoulder. “Come.” He beckoned you with his fingers.
“What’s up?”
“Sit here.” He tapped the table in front of him, and you looked at him, confused. “Just do it.”
“Fine.” You hopped up on the table.
“Now, close your eyes.” He waited until he was sure they were closed before taking your wrists and bringing your hands under his sniper hood to his face.
“Now you can see me,” he said, and you nearly cried. You used your fingers to see him—his brow, cheekbones, nose, lips, and a few scars.
“König…”
“What is the verdict? Am I hideous?” he asked.
“I think you’re beautiful,” you said, hoping that word didn’t offend him. His breath hitched, and you almost moved your hands away until he grabbed them and placed a kiss on both palms.
“Thank you for letting me do that,” you said. “For trusting me.”
“I trust you with my life.” You both stared at each other for a moment before he stood too quickly. “I am going to shower,” he told you.
“Um, okay. I’ll do the same. I mean…after you, of course!” You were all flustered over this man.
Tumblr media
Your body heated up just hearing the shower come on. You could hear him moving around and knew he was undressing.
“Stop,” you whispered to yourself.
You heard the shower turn off about ten minutes later, and König cleared his throat. Then he was whistling a tune you had never heard before.
You turned away from the hall as the bathroom door opened, but then your head turned slowly, and you were met with the hulking man in nothing but a towel hanging low on his hips.
“I’m finished,” he said.
From what you could see, his chest had only a speckling of hair. Then there was his stomach, which was toned but not exactly muscular. It had a happy trail that disappeared under the towel. You wet your lips quickly as you heard a door close and realized he had gone into one of the rooms to dress.

As you showered, you thought back to König and his sheer size—everything about him was big, and you loved that. You told yourself that your hand was only moving between your legs so you could wash yourself, but you still touched yourself there even after you did.
“Fuck,” you whimpered just as König was walking by the door. He knew he should keep walking, but he didn’t. He listened as you got off.
“Yes, König,” you moaned, and his eyes widened. He moved away from the door and walked back into one of the bedrooms.
A few moments later, he heard the shower turn off. He would try to act as normal as possible, but he knew it would be almost as hard as he was right now.
The door opened, and you stepped out with a towel wrapped around your body.
“H-How was it?” he asked.
“It was nice.” You noticed that he changed into a different sort of mask instead of the sniper hood. It looked more comfortable.
You smiled before slipping into the other bedroom. As soon as the door closed behind you, you leaned against it breathing heavily.
You quickly put on something comfortable and stepped back out of the room.
“I’m going to make some tea. Would you like some?” you asked.
“Yes, please.”
He followed you to the small kitchen. There was an awkward silence as you waited to pull the kettle off the stove before it whistled.
“Do you mind grabbing the cups? I think they’re in that cabinet,” you told him, and he stood quickly to help.
“Here?” he asked as he reached over and above you. His shirt pulled up, and you found yourself staring at his happy trail then you looked up at him. He was staring back.
“I-I’ve found them,” he told you.
“Yes.” You swallowed hard.
“Ich will dich,” he gasped.
“You can have me, König…my King.”
He pulled his mask up quickly and kissed you, taking the very breath you just took away. But that was okay because he was breathing life right back into you.
“Finally,” you moaned. “Fucking finally.” You pressed your lips to his, slipping your tongue into his mouth.
“Do you want me as much as I want you?” he asked, cupping your face. You nodded and tried to move in for another kiss, but he held you still. “Tell me.”
“I want you. I want you so bad. Please take me. Right here, right now.” You put your hands on his chest. “And I don’t want you to be gentle.”
“Fuck.” He kissed you hard. “Will you be loud for me?”
“Yes, as long as you’re loud for me.”
“I will shout your name to the high heavens,” he told you.
“Can I tell you something?” you asked as he sat you on the kitchen counter. “I touched myself in the shower thinking of you.”
“I know.”
You were about to ask how he knew, but he tore your shirt open at that moment, revealing your breasts.
“Impatient,” you teased.
“You wear the shirt…with no bra…I could see your nipples right through it.” He stared at your breasts before using his big hands to grab both and push them together. Then his mouth was on them—lips, tongue, teeth, he was using them all on your nipples.
You reached down and slid your hand under the waistband of his pants. You found him hard already, but you knew you could get him harder.
“How are you going to fit, my King?” you asked, and his hips bucked into your hand.
“We will find a way,” he promised. “I will spread you open…make a path just for me.” He pushed you back gently so that you were leaning on your elbows on the counter. He tapped your thigh, and you lifted your hips so he could get your bottoms off.
“I knew it was beautiful,” he said, staring hungrily at your cunt. “It will eat me alive, but not before I taste it.” He fell to his knees and wasted no time getting his tongue on you. He moaned loudly as he slurped and smacked his lips on you greedily, making the most obnoxious but delicious sounds ever.
He sucked your clit into his mouth and pulled until he released it with a pop. You were close already.
“Here.” He held his fingers up to you, and you took them into your mouth as he continued devouring you. “Get them wetter.”
You let your saliva drip down onto the digits, and he groaned against you before pulling them out of your mouth and slipping them into your pussy. He pulled away to watch the push and pull of your pussy on his fingers.
“She is greedy,” he murmured, resting his head on your thigh. “She doesn’t want to let me go.”
“You’re gonna make me cum, König,” you whined.
“I’ve dreamt of hearing those words. Please, let me feel you; let me hear you.”
You held onto his wrist as he pumped his fingers faster, as his thumb rubbed your clit.
“König, König, oh my fucking God!” Your toes curled as you came around his fingers. He grunted and groaned at the feeling. Slowly, he pulled his fingers from you, staring at the slick mess you left on him. He pulled his fingers apart to watch how your juices stretched between them, then reached down to stroke himself with them.
“I need you to spit on it,” he said.
You sat up and looked down. He stopped stroking for a moment, grabbing you by your hair as you gathered the spit in your mouth, then let it drip from your lips, sticking out your tongue to make sure it all came out.
“Braves Mädchen,” he said. Good girl. You leaned back again. “Spread yourself open for me.”
You slid a hand between your legs and used your pointer and middle fingers to spread your lips for him. He groaned before spitting on your pussy and pushing against your entrance.
You bit your lip and moaned, craning your neck to watch him make his way inside you.
“Oh, fuck! You’re stretching me so good.” Your mouth dropped open as he pushed in more and more, his cock disappearing inch by inch.
“I’m not sure I will last long inside of you,” he said through clenched teeth.
“Then fuck me now. Please, my King.”
With those words, he slammed the rest of his way in, and you cried out, one hand against his stomach.
“Don’t fucking stop,” you whimpered.
He let out a growl as he began fiercely pound away at you. He was surprised you were handling him so well. He looked down and nearly came at seeing your pussy taking every inch of him.
“You are mine!” he grunted loudly, pinching a nipple and twisting it.
“Yours!” you cried out. You started to worry that maybe you both were too loud and an enemy would find you. “König, are we too loud?”
“No,” he said before pulling out of you and turning you around. Then he slammed into you from behind. “And even if we are…” he began, stopping to fuck slam his hips against your ass a few times.
“Even if we are….” He turned you toward the door. “…if they come in here, I would still stay buried to the hilt in you as I killed every one of them. Bang! Bang! Bang!” His thrusts matched his words.
That turned you on more than you could imagine. Your back was arched as he held you up to stand as straight as possible while he fucked you from behind. He moved one hand up and around your neck while the other slipped between your legs, fingers finding your clit and pinching it.
It didn’t take long for you to fall over the edge again. Your knees gave out as you came, but he held you with strong arms.
He was getting closer. His thrusts became messier, and his hand tightened around your neck.
“Would you like me to cum inside you?” he asked. His thighs were trembling now as if he was holding himself from cumming.
“Yes!”
“Tell me!” he grunted. He punctuated each thrust with a groan that got louder and louder each time.
“Cum inside of me, König.”
“Again,” he growled. “Fuck, fuuuuuuuck…call me…call me your King.”
“Cum inside of me, my King.”
“I will. I will. Right now!” He turned you around quickly and let go of your neck so that you could brace yourself on the kitchen counter. He used both hands to grip your hips, and tears spilled from your eyes.
“Here it comes, Liebe…AHHHHHHHH!” he shouted as he began filling you. He threw his head back and screamed your name to the high heavens like he said he would. He filled you more with each hard thrust.
“Uh! Uh! Uhhhh!” he growled as he completely emptied himself inside you. “I can’t stop…it has been so long…”
“Give me…all of it.” You wiggled your ass on him and pushed back against him, making him hiss. “You’re already leaking out of me,” you said when you looked down at the floor.
He looked down and saw what you meant. It made him throb inside you.
“Not as shy as I thought you were, big boy,” you said, turning your head to kiss him.
Tumblr media
After a hot shower, you both were wrapped up in each other in bed. He somehow stayed hard against you but didn’t try anything.
“I want to go again,” he said with a sheepish laugh.
“I can tell.” You pushed him onto his back and straddled him. You licked your hand and stroked him a few times before lowering yourself onto him.
“Fuck! I hope you know you have the loveliest cock ever,” you told him, and he throbbed inside you. “Oh, you like that, huh?”
Someone had a praise kink.
“Is that why you like it when I call you my King?” you asked as you swirled your hips on him. “My King with the perfect cock. Stretching me so good.”
“I-I can’t…ah….”
“You’re so fucking good, König. You make me cum so hard.” You brought a hand up to his neck, and he whimpered. “Mmm.”
You bounced your ass on him, and he held your hips tightly.
“Fuck me,” he moaned. “Fuck your King.”
“You’re gonna get me addicted to fucking this cock,” you told him, and he squeezed his eyes shut. “Next time, I want it in my mouth….” You leaned in so that you could whisper in his ear. “Down my throat. I want you to make me gag.”
“Don’t stop,” he whined. You had never heard his voice at such a high pitch.
“My good boy. My handsome, beautiful boy.”
His mouth dropped open, and his eyes rolled back as he held you still and came inside you again.
“Mmm, atta boy. Fill my pussy. Make it yours. That’s it.”
Suddenly, he rolled you over, and you yelped before giggling.
“You are too much for me,” he said.
“Am I?”
“No. I didn’t mean it,” he corrected quickly. “You are just enough. I think I have met my match.”
“And I have met mine.”

‘Famous singer/songwriter and artist, Ellie Williams seen with famous actress and singer/songwriter Y/N’
‘Songwriter Ellie Williams, leaving the studio with Y/N? Is this the internet's new favorite couple?’
“So, as you know, we’ve seen some things about you and Y/N. Is there anything you’d like to share about the two of you with your fans?”
“I wish there was something to share. We’re just good friends. I’m just trying to see if I actually want to get into the acting industry. She’s my—, like… I don’t know, she’s my decoy. My practice, if you wanna put it like that.”
“Look, we know this isn’t a very appropriate question and it’s been asked a lot. Y’all are fuckin’?”
“Who?”
“C’mon, Ellie! You and Y/N, of course! We gotta know. Give us the scoop, man.”
“Jesus, no. I’ve got my eyes set on somebody else anyways, she’s just a good friend.”
“You two, Y/N and you, have been spotted together a whole bunch lately. Is there any reason or coincidence to it?”
“I mean, no. Other than just she brings me with her to check out what the acting industry is really like. It’s… It’s crazy, honestly. Props to her for having the courage for that, she’s a fucking… She’s super fucking strong.”
Blah, blah, fucking-blah. I hated all these stupid fucking articles and interviews with the same dumbass questions. Why did people have to know my relationship status with someone else? Why did they care so much? Why is it a problem for people who don’t know either of us? Just let us live our fucking lives, good-fucking-god. Can I just live my life the way that I want to without being harassed about my love life?
Y/N and I had met at an award ceremony, both fairly new to the respective careers we had gotten ourselves into. We were both assigned to open the show and also seated next to each other. She's such a lovely girl, super chill and respectful. She also minds her business when she's supposed to and never bothers anyone. But her fanbase? I don't know how or why she deals with any of the men she's attracted, but good on her.
I couldn't even be mad at the people asking such invasive questions because here I was, in a hotel room with her, burying my strap deep into her, face contorting into such a wonderful face that I needed to be engraved into my mind. She was so sweet and delicate, a wonderful view to just gaze upon. She sat on my lap as I used my hands to guide her hips down and push my hips up into her. The drool slipping from her lips, hanging from the corner let me know just how much she was really enjoying our time together.
"Fuck, Ellie, I can't do this anymore, I can't take it," a rich whimper came from the gorgeous figure above me, hands gripping onto my shoulders like crazy. A smirk grazed my face as her teary eyes came to meet mine, begging for us to come to an end. I couldn't help but lift her ever-so-slightly so she would offer me yet another cry from those beautiful lips of hers.
I couldn't respond to her. No way, no how. I tilted my head to glance down at the mess she was making on my lap, chuckling at how crazy it was. One hand slid up to her slightly parted lips, thumb slipping in to press down on her tongue. Those lovely moans were now muffled, hips grinding on mine to create that friction she had loved so dearly, starting to now shake at the euphoric sensation she had been receiving for the past hour and a half.
"Oh, but you're taking me so well, princess. How many times have you finished, hm? It's a fucking disaster down there, y'know."
As much as she wanted to respond to me, we both knew she couldn't. She was sucking on my thumb at this point, those delicious sobs still detectable. Chuckling at her attempts, my arms wrapped around her waist as I shoved my face into her chest to lick from her sternum to just below her neck while my thumb had left her oral cavity.
"You're so cruel, Els."
"I'm cruel? You really think so?"
"Mhm. I can't take this. It's too much, I'm so shaky."
She was not kidding about that. She was shaking like a little chihuahua, holding onto me for dear life. I hummed at her situation, peeling away so sluggishly.
"My sweet girl," I whispered, "I'll let you lay down next time. I promise."
"You said that last time and had me against a wall for a full forty-five minutes."
"You looked so angelic. What was I supposed to do? Give you what you want?"
"Yes!" She pouted, though there was a slight smile in that pout she gave me. I shook my head at her, helping her up from my lap as she tried not to fall over and eat shit. I should really give her a break but... She's all good. I know she is.
“I wish we didn’t have to hide this shit anymore,” her face rose up only to hide in the crook of my neck, sighing softly as she ran her hands up and down my arm, “if only people could mind their own fucking business.”
“We could always just say fuck it and go public. I don’t care anymore, they already know.”
Y/N’s eyes popped up, all wide and happy, a lovely smile taking over the pout I knew she had set up just seconds ago. I nodded to her, sitting her in the chair I was in, grabbing her a damp rag and her clothes that had been dumped on the bed.
“But that’s only if you’re willing to answer some questions people ask.”
“I don’t care. As long as you’re okay with it then I am too.”
Shrugging, I cleaned her up, taking my time when I came to run the rag over her still hardened nipples and her cunt which still was glistening in the dim lights. Her chuckle brought me back to looking at her, speeding up the process before kissing her forehead.
“So,” I chuckled, “that song we recorded is getting released at midnight and you are going on tour with me. You think that’s enough confirmation from the both of us?”
“Oh definitely. If they need more, sucks to be them.”
“Okay, fair enough.”
“What are we gonna do? Put out a sex tape?”
“I mean…” I smirked softly, glancing at our phones on the bed, “we—,”
“Shut up, Ellie,” a giggle cut me off while her hand beckoned me over, “you get an hour and a half. Go crazy,” her legs spread open, the heaven’s calling my name as I stared down at her glistening core.
“You know me so well.”

"Hello?"
The person on the other end of the call tried to get her attention.
"Ms. Guy are you there?"
Louisa came back to herself and tightened her grip on the phone she held to her ear.
"Yeah, sorry could you repeat that?"
"Um, Yes." The lady on the phone said. "As I said, you are listed as the emergency contact for one River Cartwright. We regret to inform you that he is deceased."
Louisa couldn't wrap her head around this.
"I don't understand–"
"Thats quite normal, Ms. Guy. You are entitled to counseling through our health program–"
Louisa cut her off.
"No– I don't understand how he can be dead if he is literally in the same room as me right now."
Hearing that he was included on this phone call, River perked up at his desk. He shot Louisa a look that was as confused as she felt.
The voice on the phone crackled as Louisa put it on speaker. "Pardon?"
"River Cartwright is in the office with me right now. Not dead."
The phone was silent except for the sound of rapid typing on the other end. Louisa looked at River who had scooted over to her desk in his office chair. The woman came back,
"Um. Are you sure?" Her voice was at least an octave higher as the realization that this was a mistake dawned on her.
Louisa turned the phone to River who leaned closer.
"Yeah Hi, this is River. I'm very much not dead right now."
More frantic typing, this time with some worried muttering.
"Uh, hello Mr. Cartwright. Sorry I am just trying to figure out how this could have happened. Could you provide me some of your details for me to verify?"
Louisa handed off her phone to River who rattled off his service ID number and some personal data. Louisa rubbed a hand over her face at how ridiculous the situation was. She got lost in thought for a moment, thinking about the last time she had thought River was dead... jesus what a fuck up this was. She tuned back in when the phone-lady started talking again.
"Mr. Cartwright we are very sorry about this. You have indeed been marked deceased in our internal files. These can only be changed by high-clearance staff so I'm really not sure how this could have happened. I don't know why but someone must have changed something up in HR–"
Louisa's eyes snapped up to River's which were the the widest she'd ever seen them. They spoke in unison.
"It can't be." / "You have got to be fucking kidding me."
River sounded awed. Louisa groaned.
"I'm sorry did I say something wrong?" Phone lady asked.
Louisa shook her head in disbelief. She reached over and took the phone, taking over the conversation as River had been struck dumb. "No sorry. We know what went wrong now. Could you please just amend the profile?"
"Of course. I'll do that right away. Sincerest apologies for any distress, Ms. Guy... and Mr. Cartwright."
Louisa hung up the phone and let it clatter onto the desktop.
They both sat there in stunned silence for at least a few minutes until they heard footsteps skipping up the stairs.
Roddy came into view but stopped dead when he saw River.
"You're supposed to be dead!"
River turned to him, "Gee, thanks Roddy."
"How the fuck do you even know?" Louisa spat.
Roddy recovered his composure, "I know everything."
River rolled his eyes, "Clearly not as I am fully alive."
"What's all this about Cartwright being dead?" Lamb's greasy voice made them all jump as he appeared like a spectre in the doorway.
Louisa sighed. "I got a call from The Park saying that River was dead, which he is not." She nodded in his direction. "Also not dead? Spider apparently."
Even Lamb could hardly contain his surprise, trying to play it off with a "Like herpes, that one. Can never get rid of 'im."
She continued past the vile image Lamb had just put in her brain. "He clearly decided declaring River officially dead would be a charming way to let us know he was alive."
Roddy, who had lost interest in the situation once he realized that he once again couldn't pilfer River's belongings, had left. Lamb merely grunted at this information and also took his leave. Louisa and River were once again alone.
She scanned his face which was going through an expression journey between shell-shocked, angry, bursting with glee, back to anger again. She interrupted his thinking,
"Go."
She shook her head and rebooted her forgotten computer.
River looked up at her. "Wha–"
"Just go. You know you were going to. Go now and save me from watching you stew...or pine for the rest of the day."
River didn't say anything. But he did get up and go to the door. He turned back sheepishly.
"Don't." Louisa held up her hand to stop whatever pathetic thing he was about to say. "Just go and don't tell me anything about it ever. Just don't do anything that will have me telling you 'I told you so'."
River smiled and have her a thumbs up.
She yelled after him as he went down the stairs.
"Give him my hate!"

His lips were so delicate against mine as we kissed. His long pale arms were wrapped around me protectively as we sat in the booth of the night club. my hand rested on his thigh as he deepened the kiss but I moved away before we could get carried away and forget where we both where at.
The smell of alcohol, cigarettes , weed and sweat filled my nose. Yes ,not the most pleasant smell but my boyfriends scent of his cologne filled my nostrils making up for it. flashing disco lights bounced out everyone’s faces around me as the music boomed through the club
laughter , voices and people shouting we’re all mixed together into the music. Tonight I was with my high school sweetheart and his band just having a night out with them. I rarely drink anyways so I’m not planning on getting absolutely smashed like the rest of them were.
well the rest of the band were half way there already including Axl. My eyes never left him as he was speaking to our childhood best friend ,izzy stradlin ,who was also in the band with Axl. I’ve knew these two since I was 14 .
Axl now had his arm wrapped around my shoulder and my hand was in his hand that hung over my right shoulder. my other hand was still on his thigh under the round table in our booth. I watched as all the other guys were talking and taking in turns drinking while other one talked.
i looked around the club and it was packed. there was bodies everywhere. i don’t know how we’re all gonna get out of here by the end of the night. I have never seen so many people before in one room.
my eyes watched people dancing and talking at the bar until my eyes latched themselves onto a group of guys. their looked around the same age as us but there was one in particular who was already looking at me
He was leaning against the bar next to his friends I suppose because they all look alike. The leather jackets , leather pants and black boots.He had the same hair style as duff just that his hair was jet black with red dyed strips in it and he looked actually quite small for a man but I knew he was definitely taller than me and he was a slim build
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen him before while out partying. oh well
i turned back and Axl was still talking to izzy who was still beside just drinking away. I felt a hand on my shoulder making me jump but it was only Steven coming back with all the drinks . “Jesus Steven “ I chuckled and he giggled apologising
Around the table it went me , Axl , izzy , duff , slash then steven. we were all having a good time , talking , laughing , cracking jokes and drinking away but I still couldn’t shake off the feeling of eyes on me.
I shifted in my seat looking around again and there he was. The same dude looking at me once again. for some reason he gave me some weird vibes and I didn’t like it. To be honest I started to get a little uneasy and uncomfortable just by him staring at me with that creepy smirk on his face but I didn’t say anything to anyone . I just began to ignore it but Axl knew something was wrong
He knew something was wrong because my leg started to bounce that his hand was on my thigh and I started to move in my seat every few seconds
i felt a little light squeeze on thigh and I looked at Axl beside me. His beautiful blue eyes looked into mine and he gave me a little smile before going to my ear to talk to me.
“you okay baby doll ? “ Axl said loudly so I could hear him over the music and I nodded pulling away giving him a reassuring smile but he wasn’t stupid. He’s knew me long enough to know when something is wrong
My heart warmed when he called me that. It’s a little nickname he’s always had for me ever since I met him.
Axl gave me a little squint with his eyes and licked his lips. I smiled leaning forward grabbing his jaw and pecking his lips and he kissed me back. “you sure ? You seem a little uneasy “ he said and I shook my head lying
“I’m fine “ I told him as my hand stroked up his arm that his hand was on my bare thigh still until the tabke now giving it slow strokes up and down. From my knee to the bottom of my leather skirt and he just looked at me. I knew he didn’t believe it but he didn’t saw anything else but nodded
Axl gave me a peck on lips before going back now talking to duff who was sat across from us
A few minutes past and I realised that creepy guy as moved from that spot giving me some kind of comfort now that I know he’s not staring into my soul anymore but that’s until I heard a voice
“slash ? hey man “ I looked and it was him. he knows slash ?
“Jay! Hey dude ,what’s up ?” Slash smiled looking up at him .
For fuck sake. I turned away not even looking at him anymore and blocked him out. I moved closer to Axl .if that was even possible and he looked at me giving me a smile. I smiled back him.
A few minutes rolled by and this Jay guy was now sat with us with one of his friends. Apparently steven and slash know him and have done for about a year or two. From what I’ve heard he deals with slash and Steven. you know with drugs and all that shit.
“have you got any cigarettes more on you ?” Axl said in my ear and I nodded pulling some out of my purse and handed him one and his lighter. he lit it up and inhaled it while looking at me with those angel eyes
god I love him so much. He’s so beautiful
out of the corner of my eye I could see Jay staring at me. He was leaned forward with his elbows on the table . His brown eyes never left me. i gave him once glance and a big weird smirk came up on his lips. he licked his lips as his eyes snaked down from mine to my chest then my breasts.
I had on an off the shoulder shirt on . It was black and it showed a little bit of my cleavage but what didn’t help was I wasn’t wearing no bra so my nipples could be seen a little since it was pretty cold in here.
right then . That very moment I felt sick. Just by him looking at me like that . I didn’t feel right . I didn’t feel safe around him. I knew he was up to no good and I quickly looked away . I didn’t want him looking at me like that. The only man who is allowed to look at me like that in that certain way was my boyfriend , Axl rose
I turned to axl and he wasn’t talking to nobody . He was just listening into Izzy’s and duffs conversation about some new music they had written yesterday. I reached to Axl shirt pulling on it a little and turned to me
he didn’t have time to say anything before my lips smashed onto his. Axl was took by surprise and I knew he was but I pulled him in by his shirt more and he kissed harder. My hand went to neck to the back ,pulling him in deeper and our lips began to move in sync slowly
His lips tasted like jack Daniels and coke but the feeling of his lips against mine felt like heaven. I could sense Jay still looking at us and I wanted him to know I was taken
I moaned in the kiss and licked axl’s bottom lip and he let me in happily. Our tongues danced slowly and now how full body was turned to me. I smiled As we were kissing and sucked on his tongue. I knew he loved that and my hand squeezed the top of his thigh
I heard izzy giggle and say duffs name probably to look at us and tease us that we were making out now in front of all of them.
Axl groaned and I moaned quietly feeling his hand now snaking up around my thigh to my ass giving it a little squeeze. I smile pulling back from the sloppily but slow kiss we were having and he opened his eyes looking into me
Axl smirked at me going to my ear “what was that all that about ?” and I giggled shaking my head grabbing his jaw
“nothing, just wanted a kiss from you “ i said back and I heard duff whistle loudly. I rolled my eyes playfully at him and Axl have him the finger making me giggle
I noticed that Jay was still looking but with a kind of angry look now. He was staring at Axl but then he looked at me and that smirk came back. I frowned at him and turned away not looking at him
I genuinely can’t be bothered with him now. He’s irritating me
“I think she wants more than a kiss Axl “ Steven muttered and everyone laughed. Axl laughed looking at me then back at Steven. I shook my head giggling looking down
As the night carried on I could feel myself getting more tipsy and more tipsy. Axl was now drunk and so was everybody else but I knew Axl knew what he was doing , saying and where he was. He wasn’t drunk drunk yet.
Jay has now gone. Thank fuck. That’s dude was starting to get on my nerves
“ y/n “ Axl slurred my name into my neck and i hummed stroking his soft ginger hair back from his face and he mumbled something but I couldn’t hear
“huh baby ?” I asked putting my ear to his mouth lifting his head up a little. “wanna go “ Axl hiccupped ad I pulled back looking at him. His eyes looked glossy from all the alcohol and his body was slouched into mine.
“you wanna go home ?” I asked and he nodded leaning in and started pecking my cheek down to my neck with wet kisses .An hour later we all ended up home. Me and Axl were now in bed and he cannot keep his hands off me.
“Ax , go to sleep “ I giggle pushing him back lightly. His hands were roaming my body and his lips were all over my neck and my lips. Axl pulled back frowning and groaned.
“come on “ Axl whispered and he sounded so desperate. It was kind of funny hearing him like that. His hands tracked up my thigh to around my ass and gave it a squeeze once again and his lips smashed onto my neck. He’s already gave me a big hickey already
actually a few. some were at the top of my tits were he’d been sucking and kissing hungrily. my hands were in his fiery hair as he started to suck on my skin once again. I tugged a little and I moaned softly as he sucked more and more.
“let me make love to you “ Axl whispered in my ear and my eyes were closed taking in ever movement and word he said. i smiled at his words and it made me feel funny inside but the good kind
“please “ axl lifted up a little and rolled me onto my back gently now hovering over me. i looked up and he looked down at me with a warm smile
i nodded smiling back and he gave me a big half drunken smile. Axl softly stroked my hair from my forehead leaning down and pecking my forehead a couple of times before going to my lips giving me a long soft kiss .
No other man will ever compare to him

"I knew this wasn’t a good idea even before I touched you. From the second I looked into your eyes I saw it," he dejectedly said.
"Saw what?"
"How innocent you were. So fucking innocent," he spat as if the words burned his tongue.
"We shouldn't have ever done this. I shouldn't have done this," he added.
Your heart sank which made your bottom lip tremble. What did you say to that? What could you say? The silence in the room stretched on and on. You wanted to say sorry but sorry didn't feel right. Who apologized for telling someone they loved them? Who apologized for such a pure and selfless emotion?
The longer the silence stretched with his back still to you, the more you felt pathetic and stupid. You regretted telling him. You weren't supposed to fall for him. It made no logical sense why you would in the beginning so simple fucking seemed like an easy deal.
Then you got to know him. He lowered his walls inch by inch, allowing you to see more and more of himself. You saw the loyal and loving son he was, the supportive and helpful sibling, the kind and gentle uncle, the intelligent and diligent businessman, and the sweet, passionate, and attentive lover. With all of that, it had practically happened without you knowing until it was too late.
Then the words slipped from you at probably one of the worst times when Lewis was balls deep inside you, giving you the "fall in love with me" long and deep strokes. He heard them the moment you said them, and it was evident because his entire body tensed. You'd came but you were almost sure he hadn't. Seconds later, he'd pulled out and looked at you with horror.
"You said..."
"I know," you replied, not needing him to finish his sentence.
"Jesus," he pushed out just under his breath, but you heard it in the stark silent room.
"Look I’m sorry I couldn't control my feelings and remain cold and unfeeling like you."
Lewis spun around to face you so fast it was a wonder he didn’t get whiplash.
"Don’t. Don’t do that. It’s unfair."
You knew it but didn’t care. You were frustrated now.
"I didn’t plan this. Hell, I sure as fuck didn’t expect it and I definitely didn’t mean to tell you. I just...I--."
You didn’t know what else to say and the moment your eyes met his you could read him clear as a book. He didn't feel the same. It wasn’t something shocking. You hadn't ever expected him to feel what you did. In the sea of women he’d been with, you were so different.
Whereas they were drop-dead gorgeous and bodacious with lines of men chasing them and perfectly beaten faces at all hours of the day and a wardrobe to rival the queens of the monarchs you’d never fit that bill. You were labeled a tomboy, considered to be one of the guys because of your interest in sports, not anti-makeup but definitely inexperienced compared to your other friends. Hell, you were inexperienced in a lot of things.
You never felt like you could hold men captivated. It wasn’t until Lewis had you seen a flicker of that. He was right. You were innocent. He was the 2nd man you’d slept with in your life and even he’d had to teach you several things about pleasure. It was embarrassing in the beginning, and you were sure after a few months he’d tire of you, but 3 months passed then 6 then 9, and before you knew it a year had ticked by, and he was still steadily seeing you. You were confused, but who were you to look a gift horse in the mouth?
Lewis sighed again, a deep, heavy, woeful sigh and you knew what he was going to say.
"We can't...I can't--. "
Just as you were going to open your mouth to stop him, his phone rang. It was an interruption you were thankful for.  You didn’t think you could stomach the words.
"Hang on," Lewis said standing in his nakedness. He picked up the phone and you took a moment to look over his body.
It would be the last time you would see it. You didn’t think you were living some fairytale or a modern version of Pretty Woman, sans the sex worker trope. You knew not to expect happily ever afters. Those were things of fiction. This was the end of your time together. He was just about to say the words.
The tattoos that decorated his back held you mesmerized. You could still feel the muscles hidden under that beautiful golden bronzed flesh. The very muscles that spoke of how much power truly resided within him. Your fingertips remembered how they danced under them. It was etched to memory by now and you knew it would be hell to forget it.
When Lewis walked to the bathroom, you snapped back to the here and now. You sat there for a few moments, grabbed a pillow, and cried into it hoping it muffled any sound you might make. You didn’t want him to see this. Not only was it embarrassing but for some reason you felt shame. You’d never thought that when you agreed to no strings attached fun with Lewis that you’d feel shame about it. Now that shame burned within you.
After allowing yourself a minute or two to cry you dried your cheeks and got up to get dressed. You’d read the room and the writings on the wall, and you knew what you had to do. You had to walk away first. Seeing his back as it got further and further away would break you. At least this way, you could retain some of your dignity.
In under 3 minutes you’d gotten dressed and gathered your things. Lewis was still in the bathroom, and you took the opening. Hesitating at the door your tears returned.
"Get a grip, Y/N."
You walked over to the notepad beside the bed and scribbled what was under the hurt you were feeling.
Lewis,
Grateful for the blessings, memories, and time we spent together, and thankful for the lesson. I’ll keep your secrets and in that you can trust. I wish you endless success and luck.
-Y/N
With that, you walked out of the suite with your head held high and back straight as your tears streamed down your face.

-Two and ½ Years Later-
-Lewis-
"There she goes everyone. In the last 2 years, her skill have really gone into overdrive. She went from 18th in the league to 1st. Her stats rival some of the best in the sport. Here she goes setting up the goal. Her signature move is to pass it to the left while her team guards and blocks before McMullen will head butt it over for her to cut through the other team bringing it right up to the face of the goalie before she effortlessly beams it in."
"She has perfected this move and does not miss. If Chelsea has done their homework, hopefully, they have figured out a way to stop her."
"They would be the first. Somehow Y/N has made this move undefendable over the last 2 years. It really shows her grind to become this force of nature. Her teammates always say she’s first in training and the last to leave. She lives, eats, and breathes the sport and that dedication shows."
"Oh, oh here she goes! The pass! The defense by Arsenal here is incredible. This is one of their strong areas. No one is getting by which sets Y/N up to part the team on the left and here she goes!”
The stadium was so loud it was impossible to make out any understandable speech.
"She is so good at intimidation, and we see it here. There's the ball she really likes to bounce it off her chest then knees and--.”
The referee blew his whistle, stopping play because of an offense by a Chelsea player. Then it happened out of nowhere.
"Ooooooh!”
The stadium echoed the sound then it all went silent. Now even a referee's yellow card could be heard dropping to the grass.
He leaped to his feet from his location in the box seats he'd bought years ago to ensure he always had a spot to watch your home games when he was home. He couldn’t see you through the huddle most of your teammates had around you while a few others brawled with the other team.
Even he knows that was a foul move. The game wasn’t even in play. It was clearly a move to take you out of the game. Everything in him wanted to run from his box down to the field but he remained there. His legs planted unable to move them. He had no right. It had been almost 3 years since you truly interacted rather than seeing each other across a room or in the audience of an award ceremony. 3 years since that night.
Long minutes passed as everyone tried to get some control over the field. Team owners tried to wrangle brawling players and medics rushed the field pushing through the huddle of your team, even some media managed to get on the field to snap pictures and capture up-close footage. It was like hell had broken loose.
With every minute that passed, he felt even more on edge. Then the ref blew his whistle and made his call.
"Serious Foul Play, number 76, Brewer. Expulsion. 2 free kicks Arsenal"
The stadium echoed with claps, cheers, and admonishment for the call. It was a good call. He watched the offender exit the field talking a lot of shit but focused on you. You were lying on your back with your head angled backward and a grimace on your face.
"Fuck! Is she okay?"
"I can't tell," Miles replied.
"Shit."
After another minute or two, you got hoisted onto the board and carried off the field. That only made him worry more. Unable to stay where he was any longer, he left the box and made his way toward the team areas. You’d had scares before in your games, but this had to be the worst one in the nearly three years he’d been watching by far.
When he got close, he watched one of your teammates take the second free kick, making nothing but net. Chelsea’s only hope was to bring it into extra time and even that would take impeccable athleticism for the remaining 8 minutes. He doubted they had it.
The clock winded down 4 minutes and still no goal had been scored by Chelsea. That was when he caught the eye of the assistant coach, a good friend of his. He waved him over and watched as he approached.
"How you doing Lewis. We didn't know you were in the house tonight."
"I'm always here, you know that. How is she?"
He sighed then shook his head.
"A few bruised ribs, mild to moderate left hamstring strain, left shoulder popped out we had to reset it and she’s complaining her chest hurts. Could be muscle strain, or tenderness or more serious pretaining to her heart.”
"Fuck!”
"Yeah. She’s playing tough but she’s gotta be in a lot of pain."
"That player should never play again!"
"Yeah. Measures will be taken. Do you want to see her? I'm sure she'd like to see you. All the times you've been here asking about her."
"No. I...I don't think that's a good idea. Like always don't tell her I was here."
He nodded then shook his hand.
"Hang out in the associate box instead of going all the way back up."
He took the offer and called his team down. Against all the odds Chelsea managed to tie the game leaving 2 minutes of gameplay for possible extra time.
"Wild. It's clear their goal was to get Y/N out of the game. They knew she was the key."
It was more than obvious, and it pissed him off more. Suddenly a whistle blew, and he watched you slow jog onto the field. Half the stadium was cheering and the others murmuring amongst each other trying to understand what was happening. He was one of the latter.
"Isn't she hurt."
"She is. What is she doing?"
He zeroed in on your face and saw you grimace. You were definitely hurt. The list of injuries he’d just been told was serious and could be made worse with you aggravating them. You huddled with your team, and he noticed the Chelsea players looking at each other clearly panicking. You broke the huddle with a combined warrior's war cry that had become a ritual and signature of your team.
You broke out in formation, and he watched as play began again. The opponents made no attempt to hide their intention--keeping you held down. They tried everything they could to intercept the balls while heavily guarding you, but the ball never touched your feet. Instead, you took all the heat of them over guarding you, testing your strength and injuries while your team scored 2 goals in one minute.
"It’s a wrap,” Miles said while fanning off toward the field.
"Pack it up!”
He couldn’t help but laugh at the commentary of Miles and Daniel together. While Chelsea had a plan, you came with your own plan, and they played right into it. Within the 15 second reprieve, he saw the pain on your face. You bent over and rested your hands on your knees and dipped your head down. He hated this.
The whistle sounded again, and play resumed. He watched the formation change on your team and the other team went back to equal guard leaving only 2 players on you. He snorted because he knew what was going to happen.
"Big mistake!”
You stood there inactive, which made the players on you watch you in confusion. They looked around unsure what to do as play continued around them. He did a quick glance at the clock noting there was under 40 seconds of play time. Your team made a run for the goal which made the players on you scramble to try to stop the goal by any means. That left you wide open. In a misdirection move the ball flew to you and you took off from midfield at top speed.
He watched your ball control in awe. By the time the other team realized their error it was too late. You were in the zone. You faked to the left breaking one of your opponents, making them slip into what must have been a painful split. You faked right and your second opponent dived for you missing completely.
You booked it to the goal as the rest of their team chased after you. When you were about 10 feet from the goal you kicked it to the right, then your teammate kneed it up and front kicked it back to you.
Everyone in the stadium was on their feet and it looked like it all moved in slow motion. You high jumped up getting major air then instead of your signature move you stuck your leg out and went for a flying bicycle side-kick. Looking tighter than the Nike check logo. Once your foot made contact he knew you had it and sure enough, the ball zipped through the air like a bullet and collided into the net signaling the end of the game and Arsenal's win clinching yet another title.
The stadium went absolutely wild. You remained laid on the field as your teammates jumped on you, cheering and celebrating another victory.
"She's a beast!"
They hoisted you up and put you on top as they passed you in the air. Though he could tell you were in pain you were all smiles. He couldn't help but smile too. He’d always loved your smile. It was the reason he always tried to make you happy just to see you smile. His heart thudded painfully and as strong as it ever had when he watched or thought of you. This had been going on for 3 years now and he was still hopelessly and painfully in love with you.
The field filled with press, the rest of the team, managers, and other personnel, and they all were in celebration mode. Your teammates let you down in front of a tall man who was smiling just as widely. He wrapped his arms around you and rested them just at your hip. It was an intimate move and just like that his hackles were up.
When he bent to your ear he watched your interaction while he wondered who he was and what he was to you. Over the years while you’d become a sensation and top player for Arsenal, you'd been able to keep your privacy and stay away from the paps. There was little to no info on you out there which meant he had no idea if there was someone in your life.
The thought that there was, made him clench his jaws though he probably had no right to the reaction. Not after he’d let you walk out and away from him nearly 3 years ago.
"Let's go."
Without waiting any longer, he turned, and a few people started pointing at him and shouting his name. Soon everyone near him was waving and cheering and calling to him. He smiled and waved back as he tried to slip out before you saw him. He shouldn’t have ever come no matter how much he missed you, no matter how much he craved having you near, and no matter how much he regretted what happened those years ago. Nothing had changed. He wasn’t any good for you.
~~~~~~~~~~~
-Y/N-
Even now as you were sitting in your gown for the celebratory dinner hopped up on some superior pain medication you could have sworn you saw Lewis. Or the back of his hooded head. Was it really him? You didn’t know. It could have been anyone similar to his height and build wearing a hood. While your ears had picked up some murmurs in the crowd shouting his name, it could have been any Lewis.
You sighed and closed your eyes. You were being ridiculous right now. It had been almost 3 years and you were still thinking about him and looking for his face in the crowd and him in every man you encountered.
“How pathetic, Y/N. How much more do you want to suffer? Haven’t these years been enough?”
Just then, a pang of pain rippled through you that took your breath away. You threw your head back and held your breath as you tried to push through it. Perhaps the quick look-over you’d gotten during the ending part of the match wasn’t enough. Everyone had insisted that you be admitted but you knew you had to make an appearance at this dinner.
“I’ll do it after,” you groaned out to yourself.
“Y/N.”
You straightened and put on a brave face. “Ready. Let’s go.”
You stood on shaky legs and shook off the lingering pain while pleading with your body to give you a few more hours. Your job didn’t end after a win. The show must go on.
Thirty minutes later you were walking the gold carpet with the rest of your teammates smiling and being interviewed by reporters.
“Y/N!”
You approached a tall woman with gorgeous curly 4B hair that had subtle auburn streaks. The look complimented her nutmeg tone and striking features.
“Hi.”
“Hi to you. First of all, I stan you so hard! Today’s game was incredible. You were incredible. How are you? Should you be here tonight?”
You giggled. “Thank you. I uh—I appreciate you saying that. It was truly a team effort today and I’m just happy we could bring it home.”
“Can we talk about that hit?”
You shuddered remembering it and the immediate shock and pain you felt. “Uh, sure.”
“Did you see it coming?”
“No. I was focused on the goal and the plan.”
“Do you feel it was deliberate? A lot of fans and spectators are saying she had a plan to take you out of the game so it could make it easier for them to win.”
You’d heard the rumbles too. You’d had problems with Cadence Brewer for years. She’d tried taunting you for your entire career and when you’d surpassed her and any rankings she could have ever held the taunting became worse. You didn’t know what you’d done to her, but it was clear she didn’t want to be friends or even sportsman like.
“Um, I don’t know. I—I try not to go down those thought pathways. I go out there, play the sport I love with one goal in mind, to win. I really don’t focus on anyone else or their feelings toward me.”
“Well said and your skill sure speaks for itself. Are you doing okay tonight?”
“I’m doing all right, feeling not my best, sore but I’m dealing.”
“You look spectacular. Give us a spin.”
You did but it was a rather slow one. Anything more you would give away just how not your best you were feeling.
“Wow. You clean up well.”
You laughed then fanned her off.
“Thank you.”
You heard your name across the way and found your team waving you over.
“Looks like I’m needed. Thank you.”
You walked over to your team and posed for some pictures. It took another fifteen or so minutes before you made it inside and when you did, your hamstring was throbbing uncontrollably.
“If it isn’t the MVP of the night.”
You looked beside you and found Tyrone’s smiling face. You returned his smile the best you could and looked over him. He always did clean up nicely. His locks looked freshly tightened and skin glistened. He was a fine man indeed.
“You clean up nice,” you both said at the same time.
“How are you holding up?”
You bobbed your head from side to side indicating you were not great but not terrible.
“That could change in an hour though,” you added.
Tyrone held his arm out for you, and you looped it. He’d been hanging around for about 8 months now. Ever since a charity game between Aston Villa’s WFC and Arsenal’s where he’d cheered you on rather than the women’s side of his club you’d struck up a friendship. Truth be told, you couldn’t shake him. He showed up to your games when he didn’t have one, commented on your socials, constantly asked you to hang out, and even accompanied you to football events both of you needed to be at. It was nice, he was fun, and you now considered him a good friend.
Everyone on your team believed he was doing everything he could to woo you. While you couldn’t believe it, you did see some small signs he might be into you. You’d never reciprocated any of his advances because you didn’t think you could. You truly believed something inside of you was broken.
You had no interest in a repeat of what had happened to you a few years ago. You could call it once bitten, twice shy, or whatever. The facts were simple, ever since that night you’d pushed pause on anything that wasn’t football. You dedicated yourself to your training and becoming indomitable. You’d learned your lesson then and didn’t want any others.
Instead, you trained like a beast and put in all the work necessary to step your game up. In truth, you’d probably used football as a crutch and a means to forget Lewis and what your heart still felt for him. You’d even done your best to stay away from everything related to him but that had proved to be impossible. You lived in the same country, ran in the same circles and he was everywhere. You could barely walk down the street without seeing a magazine that didn’t have some coverage of him. It also didn’t help that F1 was one of two national sports of England and people truly lost their shit over him.
In the last near 3 years, his image had only gotten bigger, his fame more blinding and his alleged conquests more gorgeous. You had all the evidence needed that he didn’t give a shit about you. Within two weeks of you, he was rumored to have someone else he was giving his attention to. That was probably the worst part. You couldn’t escape the rumors.
The rumors were everywhere, and those rumors triggered some of the worst nights for you. For a long time, you couldn’t sleep because your imagination ran wild. You couldn’t do much of anything without thinking of him. Your only escape was football. At least for that you probably should thank him. You’d used him to become the monster you were today.
Arsenal management introduced you and the team to tens of people. You shook hands, smiled, posed for pictures, and mingled. Barely anyone stuck out because all the faces and names blended together after an hour. You knew this win was bolstering Arsenal’s image but when someone approached you and proposed you play during the offseason for a major off-season league it hit you that this win had catapulted you into a whole different layer in the atmosphere. You’d become bankable.
“Y/N, let me introduce you to some major players,” your assistant coach said to you just as Tyrone came up on your right side with two glasses of champagne.
“Uh, sure.”
Tyrone held his arm out to you again and you looped it. As you walked across the room you took the flute of champagne he offered and downed it.
“I love watching you work a room,” Tyrone whispered against your ear.
His lips brushed against you making you glance up at him. “I had no idea.”
“There’s a lot you have no idea about,” he replied, voice still tipped lower than ever before.
“Like what?”
His lip quirked up and he leaned closer again. “Like how irresistible I find you and how badly I’m trying to not pull you into a corner to kiss you senseless.”
Your eyes bugged. He’d finally shown his hand. Long gone were his flirty innuendos and could be, couldn’t be hints. You didn’t know what to say, all you could do was stare at him.
“Eh-em.”
You tore your eyes from Tyrone’s and looked at your assistant coach who nudged his head forward. Looking in front of you, you got the wind knocked out of your lungs for the second time in 30 seconds. Your eyes locked with Lewis’ burnt honey ones and instantly your heart thudded painfully in your chest.
“Ah!”
You gripped your chest and five men lurched forward in an attempt to console you. Before anyone could touch you, Tyrone took your hand and wrapped his arm around your waist, keeping you close.
“Are you alright?”
You rubbed at your chest and took a few breaths before you nodded.
“You should have been admitted,” your assistant coach muttered.
You waved off his concern and smiled. “I’m fine.”
“Are you sure?”
Tyrone cupped your cheek, bringing your face closer so he could really assess you. The gentleness in his touch and the tenderness in his eyes took you by surprise. Yeah, he’d been flirtatious before, but this was different. He’d declared intentions moments ago and suddenly these touches felt different. Your heart should have been touched, warmed at least but nothing. That wall you’d built around your heart steadfastly remained.
“Yeah, I’m sure.”
You lowered Tyrone’s hand and looped yours with his before looking in front of you again. Though you tried to keep your gaze from his, your eyes still met Lewis’. His jaw was tightly clenched, eyes blazing with intensity and coldness. He looked like he was on the verge of decking someone. You were introduced to the two men flanking his left and right and then him. You had two ways to play this and decided on the path that would keep your promise from those years ago.
You smiled and held out your hand to him, “It’s nice to meet you.”
Lewis didn’t budge. He stared into your eyes as if he too were making his own decision of how to handle this moment. It felt like an eternity passed before he took your hand and shook it. Once he touched you, a static electric shock coursed through you and though it was slightly painful, it felt good though. Too good.
As you slowly shook hands, your eyes remained locked on one another as if no one else existed in this room and neither of you had anywhere else to be. Again, your heart thumped painfully against your chest cavity making you flinch. Yanking your hand away, you flexed your digits trying to shake off the feeling.
“Em, sorry. I dislocated this earlier it’s a little sore,” you appeased.
Why? You didn't know. You didn't have to explain why you wanted to keep your parts from his. You looped your arm with Tyrone's again and held tighter to him. You caught Lewis's eyes moving to your joined arms and yet again the tight clench of his jaw couldn't be missed.
How odd, you thought before you were distracted by one of the men with him addressing you.
“Amazing match, Y/N. Lewis has not been able to stop gushing about your skill and how coolly you handled yourself.”
You looked at Lewis who was still looking at yours and Tyrone's interlocked arms.
“Uh, thank you…I guess.”
“Still haven't learned how to take a compliment, huh.”
Lewis's comment caught you off guard and it must have been the case for Tyrone as well because you could feel his eyes on you. Not bothering to reply you smiled and simply shrugged.
The conversation continued with you having no way to escape. You'd often thought about the first time you spoke after the way things ended and you'd done your best to convince yourself that you were long past it and him. You were certain that you would be able to talk to him without feeling a thing.
Two and a half years had passed, but that was not the case. Being near him now made every injury you had thrice worse. The pain medication had taken 95 percent of the pain but the 5 that remained was persistent. Your body ached worse being in front of him and that one touch triggered some innate response.
So, not only were you trying to keep a brave face on so no one knew the extent of your injuries, but you were also trying to pretend like seeing Lewis again up close wasn’t affecting you. You had to pretend you'd never known what it felt like to intimately touch his flesh, or press your lips to his, or have him deep inside of you. You had to pretend like you hadn't fallen in love with an emotionally unavailable man who’d shown what he thought your worth was by letting you walk away. You had to pretend like you hadn’t made a complete fool of yourself in front of him and that he hadn't seen you at your most vulnerable and turned way.
When Tyrone came up with an excuse to get to the table, you were thankful. Visibly weaker, Tyrone held tightly to you as he led you away and as you walked away you could feel Lewis' eyes boring holes into your back. Tyrone sat you in your seat then pointed out his seat at the next table then kissed your cheek before he went to his seat.
With a little time to yourself you recalled what the man with Lewis had said.
“…Lewis has not been able to stop gushing about your skill and how coolly you handled yourself.”
How did he know how you handled yourself? You were sure that commercials would have been on during the chaos after the tackle. The only way for him to know that was if he was in the stadium. The realization hit you so hard that another strong stab of pain surged through you making you squeeze the edge of the table.
With white spots dancing behind your eyes, you counted through it and focused on keeping your breathing leveled as you tried to push any other thoughts out. When the pain subsided, you looked up and glanced around to see if anyone had noticed. Barely making it halfway around the room, you locked eyes with Lewis who was seated so close but so far. Story of your entire entanglement you thought to yourself. From where you sat it was easy to mistake the intense look in his eyes for concern.
Scoffing to yourself, you shrugged the thought off, deeming it ridiculous. You wouldn’t fall for that twice. Straightening your back, you played it off and finished the glass of champagne before you in one rise to your head.
The dinner progressed with conversation on all topics mainly toasts of congratulations and a plethora of photo ops. If you were feeling better perhaps you would have enjoyed yourself more but after 2 hours you were so ready to leave. Your decline had been steady.
Every time your eyes accidentally met Lewis', your heart beat painfully. Each time you had to stand and pose for a picture your hamstring furiously rebelled making you feel its wrath. Every hand you shook you instinctively reached with your right hand which aggravated your shoulder that had become increasingly tighter and tighter as time elapsed. You kept telling yourself to get through to the MVP announcement and then leave but there was too much working against you tonight.
“Everyone, thank you for taking the time to celebrate with us tonight. Here at Arsenal, we consider ourselves a family and as a family, we are always proud of each member. Strong ties, loyalty, and devotion are the principles of Arsenal.”
The room erupted into applause that took several moments to quiet.
“As we do every year we are presenting our MVP selection for this season of very high, highs and few to no lows. This team is filled with valuable players. We've been lucky to recruit the best and those bests have only gotten more and more exceptional. Although I can only give this to one woman tonight I wish I could give it to all of them.”
Again everyone applauded. A few of your teammates patted your shoulder and pointed at you. It only made you more anxious. While this award wasn’t a huge deal, it was a big one. It said a lot within the sport, and it also would open you up to so many more opportunities. Not to mention anyone who got the MVP award was definitely getting a contract extension and with that extension a raise.
“So, without further ado, this woman has really gone above and beyond. She has not only enhanced her skill but has shown every football club why she deserves to be considered one of the brightest rising stars in the sport. Her stats speak for themselves and so do her moves. If you ask anyone on the team not only is she talented but she's humble. Not only a shark but a team player. Not only fierce but kind. So let me introduce this season's MVP. Y/F/N & Y/L/N!”
Shock flooded you and soon disbelief set in. As everyone around you stood and clapped, you remained seated unable to believe your name had been called. Your teammates all released a warrior's war cry as they surrounded you trying to coax you into action.
You hugged them all and smiled at others at your table then hugged Tyrone who was all smiles.
“You deserve it,” he whispered to you before he kissed your cheek.
You then made your way to the stage. You were so happy that your table was close but that happiness was short-lived when you clocked the 4 steps onto the stage. Before you could panic, you saw Lewis approach the side of the steps holding his hand out to you.
Internally, you panicked but externally you were as cool as a cucumber. You'd worked hard to cut yourself off from useless emotions and while his effect still had a relentless hold on you, you could rise above it. So, you did just that –raised above it. You slid your hand into his and ignored the electricity passing through your hand, and the way your belly flipped from the tightness of his hold, and his scent that was so familiar but so different bombarding you, and even the pain in your chest that intensified thanks to his proximity.
Each step up was slow and with each step, he was mindful of not only your dress but also your body. You noticed how he took most of your body weight on the right side as if he knew your hamstring was shredded. He also used a second hand to secure your shoulder which you'd mentioned was dislocated a few hours before so there was no added strain. When you suddenly leaned back thanks to a spasm of pain in your ribs, his arm was there bracing your back holding you in a way that brought memories to the forefront of your mind.
How did he know to do these things? Did he know the specifics of your injuries? How? Had he really been in the stadium?
Lewis walked you to the podium then stepped back so he was in the darkened part of the stage clearly trying to not steal your shine. The room continued and it took a while to quiet down still wanting to clap, cheer and warrior cry to their heart's content.
You felt a rush of pride swell through you. It had paid off. The road here hadn't been easy. You'd pushed yourself to the max and then some, sacrificed a lot, and even went through a time of depression because of everything. Now it all seemed worth it.
Once the room quieted, you gave your acceptance speech thanking everyone by name, mentioning any and everyone who had a part in making this possible today. You didn't leave anyone out and made sure they each knew how grateful you were to and for them.
When you recounted how much work you'd done in the last nearly 3 years, your emotions caught up with you. It was then the memories of you and Lewis came back, memories of the heartbreak, memories of how hard healing was, and how much you struggled to even get out of bed and make it to practice. It was also then another bite of pain hit you, this one worse than all the others. You gripped your chest and hunched over the podium as the microphone feedback rang through the room.
Your vision blurred and all sound disappeared as you struggled to catch a breath. In the blink of an eye, all you saw was light being shut off all around you until only one remained as you felt yourself falling. Rather than the pain of a hard floor, you felt strong arms. Over you, you peered into a blurry face that went in and out of focus but brought with those strong arms, a familiar feeling washed over you. One you'd felt all night. Lewis.
As the last light shuttered, you made out one final word.
“Babygirl.”
~~~~~~~~
Everything ached but also felt numb. It was a strange combination. Fluttering your eyes open you heard loud voices just a breath below a shout.
“I've got it from here. You can go.”
“Excuse you? I'm not going anywhere. You can go. Like what is your purpose here anyway? She doesn't even know you.”
A snort sounded in the room. “Trust she knows me more than she knows you.”
“How? You just met a week and a half ago.”
“Don’t worry about other people's business. Mind yours.”
“She is my business. Look just because you’re Lewis Hamilton doesn’t mean anything here.”
“And who are you mate? Some rookie footballer on a come up?”
Clatter followed then several voices.
“You both need to leave! There is no fighting in here.”
“Take it outside!”
Panic and confusion welled within you, and it only intensified when you realized you couldn’t speak. It was then you realized the long tube over your head. The machines then went insane and seconds later you were surrounded by people. To the back of the huddle, you caught a glimpse of Tyrone and Lewis but in seconds they were gone.
“Calm down, Y/N. It’s all right. You’re safe, and currently admitted to the hospital. You’ve been here for a little over a week and we had to intubate you.”
The more she spoke the more you panicked until you were struggling against them trying to get out of the bed.
“She’s panicking. Sedative.”
That was the last thing you heard before it went black all over again.
~~~~~~~~~
When your eyes opened again the room was bright—too bright. Squinting you groaned but it came out sounding more like a toad’s croak. in seconds you were flanked by the faces of your family.
“Y/N?”
Your mother gently cupped your cheeks as tears streamed down her cheeks. You opened your mouth to reply but nothing came out. You tried again and again but still, there was no sound.
“It’s okay calm down. You were intubated. It’s normal to not be able to talk for a few hours,” your father informed.
Slowly, you calmed yourself but then wondered why you were intubated. Seeing the question in your eyes, your mother responded.
“You had a collapsed lung. You should have gone straight to the hospital so they could treat it but the delay in treatment made it worse. You’re so stubborn.”
You smirked and raised your hand to wipe your mother’s cheek hoping she took it as your apology. She held your hand to her cheek and stared lovingly into your eyes. Soon the doctors came in to check you over to gauge your healing progress. As they examined you, they filled you in on every medical measure that had been taken. They seemed to know the questions you had so as they went they answered them. Thankfully, you’d make a full recovery with time and physical therapy. They didn’t see any reason why your ability to play the sport should be hindered.
An hour later, your teammates all rolled through with flowers, stuffed animals, and get-well banners and cards. They teased you about your dramatic antics with fainting while you had everyone’s attention ensuring you’d be the talk of the town for weeks if not months. You laughed but with every chuckle, your ribs fought you. When they left the doctors ordered no more visits for the day so you could get some needed rest.
You were grateful because you were downright exhausted.
The next day you woke feeling a little more like yourself, especially since you woke up with the raspy version of your voice. While it sounded like you smoked 3 packs a day it was better than nothing. By noon after your first PT appointment for your hamstring, you were in good spirits. That was when Tyrone’s face popped around the threshold holding an embarrassing bouquet of flowers.
“Hey there gorgeous.”
You snorted and rolled your eyes. He approached you and then bent to kiss your cheek.
“You must have taken a bicycle kick to the face recently cause you’re blind.”
He chuckled and placed the flowers on your bedside table.
“For you.”
“Thank you.”
“How are you feeling?”
“Better than bad, worse than great.”
He nodded then rubbed the back of his neck. “You scared the shit out of me.”
“I’m sorry.”
Tyrone sat in the chair beside the bed staring at you as if he had so much to say to you.
“What?”
He sighed then leaned forward. “I have feelings for you, Y/N.”
You froze.
“You had to know.”
You remained silent.
“I’ve been debating with myself for months, 8 to be specific on if I should continue pursuing you or move on. I wasn’t sure if it was me you weren’t feeling or if I wasn’t being direct enough so—I have feelings for you. I like you—a lot.”
“I love you, Lewis.”
Your words from three years ago echoed in your head. You saw the scene playing before you again and coupled with Tyrone’s confession you remained frozen in panic. It felt like you were in the same situation again.
“Y/N?”
Your eyes focused on him again and you fought to push the memories away.
“You had to know.”
“I—I didn’t. not really.”
“And now that you know? Do you—do you feel the same?”
The long stretch of your silence must have been answer enough. Tyrone blew a breath out.
“Do you feel anything for me?”
Again you couldn’t speak. Pinching the bridge of your nose you sighed.
“Wow,” Tyrone said.
“Ty, I think you’re great.”
“Aw man.”
“No. Let me finish. You’re great. You’re fun, funny, sweet, kind, giving, chivalrous and so many other things. You’re a good guy and I wish I felt the same way as you. I wish I felt. I just—I can’t.”
“Wish you felt? What does that mean? Were you just toying with me?”
“I never toyed with you and I’m sorry if that’s what you think. I’m—I’m not in any mind frame to reciprocate what you feel.”
He looked genuinely confused and just as you were going to open your mouth to say more there was a knock. Both of you turned around to see Lewis standing there holding a bouquet of your favorite flowers. A slew of emotions filled you, annoyance, relief, awe, hope, anger, and something that resembled happiness.
He smiled while keeping his eyes on you.
“Jasmine and Gardenias still your favorite flowers?”
“You know each other?”
“I tried to tell you, mate, now your feelings hurt.”
You watched Tyrone look between you and Lewis a few times each time his eyes got bigger and bigger.
“Wow. Wow, woooow. I see.”
“Ty, it’s not like that.”
He stood and raised his hand. “It’s all right, Y/N. I get it. I’m gonna get out of here. I hope you’re well soon Arsenal needs you.”
You stared at each other and read what he wasn’t saying with words. He was giving you an out, releasing you from any sort of obligation to reciprocate his feelings. You recognized the look in his eyes. It was the same look you had those years ago.
“Thank you, Ty.”
He nodded. “I’ll call you.”
With that he walked to the door and shoulder checked Lewis in an aggressive confrontational move. Lewis scoffed but didn’t retaliate.
“Bye Ty,” Lewis taunted.
When it was just the two of you, you registered the change in the air. Before it was filled with such high testosterone. The testosterone of a man trying to mark his territory and now it only got more pungent. Lewis approached you and with every step he took toward you, you inched backward as if he were poison itself.
Lewis placed his bouquet of flowers down in front of the one Tyrone had just brought and the heady scent of gardenias and jasmine circled you. He’d often brought you them in the past. Why did he remember your favorite flowers? With cautious eyes you watched him sit in the seat.
“How do you feel?”
You almost laughed. You hadn’t expected the first words he’d say directly to you one on one would be these. You didn’t know what you’d expected but this wasn’t it.
“Fine,” you lied.
“With a shredded hamstring, a dislocated shoulder, bruised ribs, a collapsed lung you’re fine?”
There it was. Confirmation.
“Why do you know that?”
Lewis didn’t answer right away. Instead, he stared at you for such a long time it made you uncomfortable. When you realized he wasn’t going to answer you looked away.
“Thanks for the flowers, you should go.”
“Why don’t want to see me?”
“Why would I want to see you? There’s no reason for you to be here. We don’t know each other.”
“Oh come on Y/N. We know each other better than most.”
“I disagree, you know 90% of the female population just as well.”
His brow flicked up as his mouth screwed.
“Wait that was 2 years ago. What is it now 95 percent? No? 98?”
Lewis scoffed and shook his head.
“I might deserve that.”
You rolled your eyes. “I’m not doing this. There really is no reason to. Let’s go back to staying away from each other and ignoring the other’s existence. Please leave.”
“I just want to make sure you’re okay,” Lewis began.
“Okay you’ve done that. I’m fine. On the mend will make a full recovery.”
“Y/N—.”
“Thanks for stopping by. Have a good one.”
You turned away from him looking to the left where the entire side was taken up with flowers, cards, and balloons. Lewis sighed, stood then walked to the door. You didn’t know where the anger was coming from. You thought you’d moved past that. Unable to, you looked at his back. Those years ago you didn’t think you were strong enough to watch his back as he got further and further away from you and sitting here now you remembered every feeling you had that night. You also remembered the repercussions of those feelings.
"We shouldn't have ever done this. I shouldn't have done this.”
The tears pricked your eyes, and the overwhelming feeling of loss and heartbreak consumed you. His back for further and further but before he walked through the door he paused. you pressed your palm to your mouth hoping to stifle any sound from passing. After a few moments, Lewis walked out of the room, turning right down the hall before the door closed behind him.
Once alone you waited a few moments before you allowed yourself to cry. Though you tried you couldn’t stop. The tears just kept coming until you were so worked up that your entire body felt as if it were going haywire. Suddenly, you couldn’t control yourself, you couldn’t seal yourself off from all the things you thought you’d dealt with but were now bombarding you.
You grabbed your pillow, buried your face in it and screamed until your throat burned. Then you bawled. Suddenly your door flung open and in walked Lewis.
“You’ve got me fucked up; you walked out. You left!”
You were so far down your spiral that you couldn’t stop your tears. Lewis hurried across the room to you asking a series of questions to gauge what was wrong.
“Don’t—Don’t touch—me!”
Lewis stopped right beside you respecting your wishes. “What’s wrong?”
“G—g—ge—get out!”
“No. Talk to me, Y/N.”
“Get out!”
The last thing you wanted was for him to see you like this—not again. He’d seen you fall apart those years ago and you couldn’t do it again. Two nurses rushed in asking questions about what happened but when they didn’t get any response one of them escorted Lewis out as the other tried to console you. However, nothing worked which led them to sending you into the oblivion of darkness yet again.
~~~~~~~~~
-Two Weeks Later-
The moral of the story for you had always been that while love was a pure emotion it was a weakness, and it was a weakness you couldn’t afford. The solution was to block it with everything in you. However, that was no solution at all. You pushing down your feelings, ignoring them, and practically running from the pain only ended up catching up to you. You saw that now.
The last two weeks of recovery were tough. While the pain was manageable with heavy meds you were cooped up in your house with nothing but your head as company. That meant you thought about everything all over again. You had to come to terms with the pain and face everything you’d buried from shame and embarrassment.
When the doorbell rang, you expected it to be food, so you hobbled on your crutches to the door but when you opened it, there stood Lewis.
“No.”
You attempted to slam the door, but he caught it. “Can we talk?”
“No. How did you find out where I lived?”
“Reese.”
Everything clicked then. He had been at the match and Reese was his informant. Sighing, you dipped your head and mumbled a curse.
“Please, Y/N. I think it’s 3 years overdue.”
You scoffed and the urge to smack him with your crutch filled you. He must have seen it before he raised his hands in defeat. For the first time, you saw the two bags he held.
“The unconscionable mix of Thai and sushi still your favorite?”
Just then your belly rumbled giving him the answer.
“You should consider moving, the attendant downstairs let me take your food up just because I was Lewis Hamilton.”
Rolling your eyes, you hobbled away giving him a few seconds to catch the door. If he did he did if not oh well. When you got to the living room you dropped into the seat and elevated your leg with a groan.
“You’re the only person who will eat Thai and sushi together,” Lewis said as he laid out the containers from the bags across your center table.
Slowly, you slid down to the floor then began building a bed for your thigh. Lewis approached and took over stuffing couch pillows under and around your thigh until your leg was properly elevated. Your eyes briefly met but it only lasted a few seconds. Silently, you dug into the containers and focused on piling your plate with food.
“I only bought for me. Your plant-based ass will just have to starve.”
Lewis snorted then chuckled. “It’s all good.”
“How are you feeling?”
“Fine.”
Your answer was short, and voice clipped and it was enough for him to get that you didn’t want to talk. You ate in silence for several minutes but soon you turned on the tv. Lewis reached for the remote and turned it off making you sigh.
“Come on. Haven’t you taken enough? Now you want to take my tv?”
“I’ve taken? Y/N. I’m lost here. You walked out. You left me in that hotel room in Mauritius. You did that.”
“Was I supposed to stay to hear words that were pointless in saying? Was I supposed to stay so you could have the upper hand? Fuck out of here Lewis.”
“The upper hand? Y/N this wasn’t a game.”
“Wasn’t it? From the beginning it was a game, and you know it. The only thing is I was the one who lost.”
“I never--.”
“Stop Lewis. What do you want?”
He groaned, rubbed his forehead as he shook his head. He looked distressed as if you were aggravating him, but he had no right.
“For the last 3 years I’ve carried so many regrets.”
“Same here.”
“Do you regret meeting me? Regret being with me?”
Looking at him you paused your chopsticks in their air. It wasn’t a hard question. You knew the answer. Was it the truth though? Was it your bitterness speaking? You broke eye contact and went back to your food.
Lewis sighed then spoke, “I regret letting you walk out that door. I regret not going after you. I regret not showing up at your place to clarify things. I regret these 3 years apart. I regret staying away. I regret not telling you the truth of matters. I regret—making you cry. I regret hurting you.”
With every bomb dropped your heart pounded louder and louder. Soon it felt like there was a herd of horses in your chest wildin' out. Keeping your eyes planted on your plate, you fought the urge to look at him. You didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of seeing the uncertainty and hope in your eyes. You wanted to kick yourself for feeling hope.
“Well what’s done is done,” you tightly said.
“Aren’t you going to ask what I mean?”
“What’s the purpose? The answer holds no authority to me. No one can change the past and talking about it is pointless.”
“Come on Y/N,” Lewis pleaded.
“What Lewis! What! What do you want to talk about? Hm? You wanna talk about how many regrets you have? Fine. Why does it matter?”
Your explosion was from your aggravation. You knew the longer you talked about this the more pain it would cause. So what if after 3 years he was having regrets and now felt like talking. So what if he was trying to appease his conscience so he could sleep better. So what if the consequences of his bad decisions were finally catching up to him.
“It matters because I’m here and I want to make things right. I want to do right by you.”
“After 3 years?”
You laughed manically then. It sounded bitter, hell it tasted bitter.
“Hear me out—please.”
You struggled to stand and grimaced the entire time. Lewis lunged over to assist but you lurched away.
“I can manage.”
Once up, you hobbled to the kitchen on the hunt for one of the bottles of Umeshu that you stored for nights you ate Thai and Sushi. It didn’t take you long to find the gorgeous bottle that had paintings of Japanese cherry blossoms all over it. You grabbed a glass from your overhead cupboard then hobbled back to your seat. Not bothering to build a fort for your leg you filled the cordial glass you had.
“Should you be drinking if you’re on meds?”
You side-eyed him sending every bit of annoyance to him. Nodding, he backed down. Knocking the tart but sweet liquor back, you slurped and hit your hand on the table as it burned your tastebuds.
“Mmm.”
You poured another and repeated your action, then 2 more followed. You moaned again. “Mm, if I hear you out will you leave and drop this?”
Your eyes met.
“If you still want that then yes.”
You poured and knocked back one more glass then slammed it on the table. “All right. Go ahead.”
Lewis slid down to the floor with you then took your glass and poured his own drink and gulped it.
“Thought you gave it up.”
“A bit of liquid courage is needed,” he said before he took another glass full.
Lewis held the bottle with one hand and the glass with the other as the silence filled the room. With the lights dimmed only enough to give the room a very soft glow it felt like an intentional romantic setting. You almost wanted to get up and turn the lights on full glare but the hassle of getting up stopped you and you deemed it best to have whatever conversation he wanted in as little light as possible.
“When we met I wasn’t—a great guy. I had good qualities I know that, and those qualities maybe made it seem like I was a good guy, but I was about 3 things. Racing, having fun, and no attachments. I didn’t want anyone hanging onto me wanting something other than fun, laughs, and sex. It was too much. So I played around and was fully about that life. I didn’t care to keep one woman, the more the better, the more the merrier.”
You snatched your glass back and poured yourself another drink. He felt like being real, real. You drank it down and let him continue.
“I saw you across the club and I instantly thought you were gorgeous. You were the only woman there not showing an excessive amount of skin who looked like they wanted to be anywhere else. I found it—you to be such a conundrum and the longer I watched you, the more I wanted to figure you out. But as I watched you I knew I should have walked away and left you alone, but I couldn’t. I tried; God knows I did.”
He sighed then took the glass and bottle back. You nearly snorted. This was a first between you. You’d never sat and drank together. You’d done so many things together but sat and drank and bared your personal truths were not among them.
“Ah,” he hissed before he continued, “When I said that I knew this wasn’t a good idea even before I touched you, from the second I looked into your eyes I meant I always knew I’d ruin you. I knew I’d break you because apparently, that is what I do with women in my world. That is what my world does to the women around me.”
You glanced at him at that confession. All this time you thought he meant something else, something more against you, but this was against himself.
“You were so innocent, and truth be told I was drawn to that, and it was probably because I liked new things and to claim things, so I did what I knew best though I warred with myself the entire time. Somewhere deep down I didn’t want to ruin you, but I couldn’t stay away. So, things escalated and escalated. Tried as I did to keep you like all the rest, slowly you ended up being like none at all.”
You swirled your finger around the rim of the glass allowing his words to settle. Your entire interaction played in your head. The things you did together outside the bedroom, the fun you had, the conversations, the cuddling, and the soft whispers. Those memories coupled with the Umeshu had you feeling soft. Groaning, you poured another glass. You were still too sober for this.
“You ended up being someone I could talk to about more than superficial shit, someone I could unload my frustrations with the sport, annoyance with my day, someone I could open up to and share pieces of myself. I didn’t even intentionally do it, it all just—happened. it was effortless. All of a sudden I stopped seeing you as this pass time, someone to distract me from everything, someone to sate my desires and have some fun with. I saw you as more.”
As he spoke you recalled when you’d gone through those very same sentiments. It was sudden for you too. So sudden that you didn’t believe it when you recognized it. After all, he was the first man you’d fallen in love with. Even thinking it you felt silly. Lewis Hamilton was your first love. And your first heartbreak, a voice inside your head reminded.
“More and more I wanted to spend time with you, more and more I kept thinking about you, and more and more I found myself breaking my rules and going out of character. The night you—told me how you felt it resonated with me and I knew I couldn’t keep you around me anymore.”
You abandoned the glass and brought the bottle to your head.
“My world isn’t as great as everyone thinks. I knew if you were part of it you’d get eaten, chewed, and spit out. I know how ugly it gets and I wanted to save you from that. I wanted to do whatever I could to not break you. So—I let you go.”
That confession hit you in the face like it were a low hanging tree branch. Looking at him you scrunched your face.
“What?”
You scoffed but that turned to a chuckle then an alcohol-induced guffaw. The irony was too good to not laugh. Long moments passed with you laughing not only at the situation but him and yourself.
“Let me get this straight. You wanted to not break me but ended up doing that very thing?”
Again you laughed.
“Y/N,” Lewis began but you cut him off.
“How completely ridiculous. Did you think ignoring me for years and pretending I didn’t exist wouldn’t break me? Did you think that after I sat there and confessed something so personal something that made me the most vaulnerable I’ve ever been in my life only to have it be met with horror and annoyance wouldn’t break me? Did you think that after I’d fallen in love for the first time, with the world’s most unavailable man, to have that man shoot me down wouldn’t break me?”
You laughed some more as you took another swig from the plum wine bottle.
“I’m sorry,” Lewis whispered. “I made a mistake. I fucked up.”
You rolled your eyes then took another mouthful ignoring the burn on your tongue and the puckering of your glands.
“I should have gone after you. I wanted to but I couldn’t--I. I wanted to tell you--,” Lewis sighed again.
You’d never seen him like this before. He always knew the right thing to say. He always said the right thing. Lewis Hamilton was eloquent and thought quickly on his feet and gave no evidence that he’d made something up on the fly. When he spoke he always held people captivated. The man sitting adjacent to you was not that man.
“I’m sorry,” he said again.
You scoffed again. There was a time when you thought hearing him apologize was what you wanted. You thought hearing those words would make you feel better but hearing them now and seeing the condition of him across from you didn’t feel any better.
“I thought I wanted your sorries, that I deserved them for how you made me feel but now—it doesn’t matter. You got your freedom that night, your days, nights, weeks, months, years. You got freedom and peace, but I got trapped and tormented. You were okay all these years. You went on with your life, went on with your conquests and party lifestyle. You went on and had great days, you slept well. I didn’t get that. I didn’t get my days or nights, or weeks or months, all this time I was trapped in this loop of heartache and shame. My world stopped and yours spun on. I wasn’t okay, I didn’t have great days or slept well, I’ve had trouble sleeping for 3 years,” you absentmindly listed.
You sighed then shook your head, “When a heart breaks it’s never an even break. You got the better end.”
You raised the bottle to your head again and managed two gulps before Lewis pulled it from you and took a few gulps of his own.
“You have no idea how wrong you are. I got freedom? Ha! I got peace? I wish! You’ve haunted me for every single day of the last 3 years. Your face, your smile, Christ almighty your smile, your voice, your touch, your scent, your laugh. Fuckin’ “ell!”
Lewis grabbed his head then slid closer to you. In your head, you moved back but in reality, you remained where you were.
“I was not okay. Yeah to everyone looking in I looked fine but what was I supposed to do? Was I supposed to go out looking how I felt inside? Was I supposed to look like I was on death’s door as I felt?”
“Yes!”
Your words slammed against all the walls in the living room giving him the first definite indication of the rage you felt deep down.
“Yes! Yes, you were supposed to do all of that. You didn’t and made me feel so small, so insignificant in your life, like the last year we’d spent together truly meant nothing at all. You moved on within 2 weeks. 2 weeks! Had me feeling like I deserved that shit, like it was my fault that I couldn’t stay in the fucked-up parameters we’d established.”
“I never said it meant nothing that you meant nothing, Y/N.”
“You never said anything. Your actions did it all. Your actions. This is just about hooking up Y/N, then you look at me so deeply so intensely that you steal my breath. I can only give you this, Y/N, then you cuddle with me for hours whispering how sweet and amazing I am. What the fuck Lewis! You played with me like a toy then had the nerve to be horrified.”
“I love you!”
Everything stopped then. Time, light, space, the universe, your heart. Everything. You snapped your head to him. His eyes were already on you, those dewy pots of melted molasses that promised so much more than forever, the eyes that looked so tortured now.
“I love you, Y/N. I’ve loved you since you showed up at my house drunk out of your mind ready to dance for me. The night you gave the worst striptease in the world, the night I saw the goofy, hidden seductress you keep buried. The night you allowed yourself to be completely out of your box and just be. I fell in love with you that night, I fell so hard that I didn’t bother using a condom that night. I fell so completely that I risked it all and left it up to whatever powers that be. I let go of control that night and fell in love with you.”
Your eyes were wider than saucers at that confession. There was no way that was true. He’s lying, you kept telling yourself.
“Bullshit.”
“Hand to God. The night you told me how you felt I wanted to risk it all again, I wanted to tell you how I felt, I wanted to make every promise under the sun to you and vow you’d have me completely and openly. I wanted so fucking much that night and I almost took it all, but I couldn’t. I was—scared. I didn’t know how any of it had happened, I didn’t expect it and I sure as hell didn’t know how to accept it. I was scared I’d ruin you, scared my life, my world would ruin you, and have you hate me in the end like it had to others.”
You stared into his eyes reading him, trying to gauge the level of truth in his words. You hated that more than half of you wanted to believe him, hated that you wanted to throw everything away and wrap yourself into him and those 3 words. Tearing your eyes from his, you looked down at the bottle. A heavy tear rolled down your cheek and that was how the floodgates opened.
You sobbed silently at first then let it all out. As you cried not only did the tears fall freely, but so did all the emotions you’d bottled up. You cried your anger, fears, shame, and pain out. You couldn’t hold it anymore. It was all too much.
“I can—can—can’t do this anymore. It’s too much!”
“I’m sorry. I tried to stay away from you. I tried to keep my distance, but it’s been impossible. My heart wants you; I want you. I need you in my life, Y/N. I need to be able to look into your eyes every morning, I need to hear your voice beside me, I need to feel your skin against mine, I need to hold you close, I need to love you.”
When you felt his hand on yours you wailed louder. Everything you’d wanted to hear you’d heard tonight. Everything you’d wanted to see, you saw tonight. You’d gotten it all and you didn’t know what to do next.
“Do you still love me, Y/N?”
What a stupid question you thought but you shook your head. “I can’t.”
“Y/N--,” Lewis croaked.
“Nothing has changed.”
“Everything has changed,” Lewis countered pulling you into him so there was barely any space between your bodies. “Everything has changed.”
You scrunched your face and tried to push him away, but he relented.
“3 years too late.”
“I don’t believe that. You don’t either. You can’t. This entire time I can feel the struggle in you, I can hear it and see it. You don’t mean that.”
“Lewis--.”
“It’s never too late. I’m here. I know I was wrong; I know I fucked up. I know I hurt you and I have to put the work in for your forgiveness and to show you that you can trust me. I can do that. I want to. Your world stopped that night but mine didn’t spin on, it stopped too. All these years I’ve been trapped in this loop of regret and self-hatred, all because I wasn’t strong enough—brave enough.”
With every word, you found yourself allowing him closer and closer despite your head warring within you. It was telling you to run. When Lewis tilted your chin up your eyes met and that’s where they remained.
“Do you love me?”
More tears welled in your eyes just as you shook your head.
“You’re lying. I can see it.”
You pulled away from him and it felt like forcing superglued skin apart. When you’d managed to create some space between you, you groaned from the pain that his absence brought. Not again, you thought.
“You have to leave. Go.”
“Y/N.”
“I told you I’d let you explain, and I did, and you said you’d leave when you were done if I still wanted it.”
“You want me to leave?”
“Yes.”
Silence stretched between you again. The pain on Lewis’ face was clear but you steeled your heart that somehow had turned to melted ice.
“Please, Y/N. Don’t do this. Put me out of my misery, put yourself out of this misery.”
He held out his hand to you. “Take my hand. Take my hand and show me the way to fix this. Let me back into your arms, into your life--in your heart.”
Ooof, you thought just before you rubbed your chest. He’d found his stride; his eloquence was returning, and you would never survive it.
“Lewis--.”
You stared at his hand and what was keeping you from taking it was fear. He’d broken you before, he could easily do it again. Holding that fear you knew it would only lead you to more misery. You knew fear would never make you happy. You also know you still loved him as much as you ever did. You’d never stopped. But was it enough? Could you be happy together?
His eyes said yes, your bruised heart said yes, your head said no. Your gut and instincts had left the group chat.
Heart or head, Y/N?
~~~~~~~~~~
-Two Years Later-
“Y/N. Y/N, Y/N!”
You jogged across the field to the reporter waving your down from the middle of the field while accepting pats on the back from those you passed.
“There she is. The woman of the game. The reason Arsenal brought home another title. How does it feel?”
Your smile was wide. “It feels—incredible. I’m really happy we could pull this off. Of course it’s all thanks to these women who have my back and are so incredibly skilled.”
“Of course. What a welcome back season. Arsenal’s WFC has become the most enviable WFC thanks to the relationship you all have with one another.”
“These are my besties. We really do like each other and spend so much time together. It makes working seem like play every day.”
“So you took a year off to get yourself back into beast shape but that didn’t stop these women from bringing home the title. And We had the same results 2 years ago but under different circumstances. You stand here today without injury.”
You chuckled. “Thank God. That wasn’t fun at all.”
“You worked really hard to come back from your hamstring injury and that collapsed lung. Would you say you’re in the same shape as you were two years ago?”
“No. Absolutely not. I feel like I’m in better shape this year than last year and definitely than the last before. I’ve gone through a lot of changes within that time physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually everything, and I think it all compounded to make such a profound difference.”
“Yes, you have gone through many changes, mainly a status change. You’re no longer Y/F/N & Y/L/N. You’re now Y/F/N & Y/L/N Hamilton. Or what everyone in the club likes to tease you with, Lady Hamilton.”
You snorted and shook your head. “They sure do love to tease me.”
“Would you credit your new marriage and new husband with helping you get into what you call the best shape?”
“Umm, yeah. With every life change, there will be changes that ricochet from it and everything has been positive. A better mental and emotional state helps with a clearer mind and heart which allows you to put in the work where needed.”
“So Lewis has been helping you?”
“Absolutely. I get in the training with the team, and he helps when we’re home we do jogs, we work out in the gym. He’s been great.”
“Is he here now?”
“He’s here somewhere.”
Just then you felt arms wrap around your midsection and you couldn’t help but smile widely.
“There he is.”
Lewis peppered kisses behind your ear and along your jaw clearly ignoring the sweaty mess you currently were. He released you then turned you to him and lifted you into his arms.
“Congratulations, princess.”
“Thank you.”
His hands splayed across your ass holding you there as he spun. Before he put you down he pressed his lips to yours once, twice then a third time before he dipped his tongue into your mouth to swirl around yours.
“Mmm.”
“Eh-Em.”
You pulled from him and hid your face as the women behind you let out a warrior cry in response to your nearly NC-17 display.
“Sorry,” you said.
“I’m not. She’s my wife, I’ll kiss her whenever I want.”
The reporter giggled. “No complaints here. Tell us Lewis how proud of your wife are you?”
“So incredibly proud. She worked hard for this; they all did. I am proud of all of them.”
“Congratulations on the wedding by the way.”
“Thank you. We’re very happy,” he replied.
“Very!”
“Ever since it was revealed you were engaged everyone had one thing they kept repeating, that your kids would be sports legends with both of your genes. Any comment?”
Lewis chuckled then shrugged. “Love?”
“Guess we’ll have to wait the 7 months to find out.”
Lewis’ eyes bugged then he turned you to him. “What!?”
You smiled wide and nodded.
“You’re messing with me.”
“No.”
“Y/N. Are you serious? You’re--.”
You nodded and within seconds Lewis had you in his arms spinning around.
“Oh my god. Wow!”
Lewis laughed and walked away carrying you away from anyone who wanted a moment of your time. He couldn’t care less that the interviews were part of your job.
“For real, for real?”
“Yes. I was going to tell you tonight,” you said.
Lewis cupped your cheeks and peered so deeply into your eyes that you could feel his love in your soul.
“I love you so fucking much.”
“You better remember those words when I’ve gained 50 pounds, a double chin, a humongous ass, canckles, and an insatiable sex drive because of you and your spawn.”
Lewis snorted then pulled you closer. “50 pounds, double chin, gigantic ass, and canckles doesn’t matter you will always be the most beautiful woman I see. Hands down.”
“Oh sweet talker.
“As for that insatiable sex drive…I think I am more than capable of helping out with that.”
His smirk was filled with mischief. You shook your head.
“Babes I think that’s how we ended up here, your helping out.”
The two of you laughed as he hugged you again. Lewis’ lips pressed along your neck before he began nipping at your skin.
“You’re not so innocent anymore, huh.”
“You tell me, Sir Hamilton.”
Again he smirked before bringing his lips back to your neck. You felt his hands slide down the small of your back to your ass just before he squeezed it.
“Naw, Lady Hamilton is a pro at taking this dick.”
A soft moan escaped you before you brought his hands from your ass to his side. You tipped onto your toes and went to his ear.
“And Lady Hamilton will take all that dick and then some tonight.”
You kissed his ear then jogged off. When you’d made it a few feet away you turned back to him and blew him a kiss. Lewis smiled wide and winked at you. That one simple act turned your insides into molten lava. You made your way back to your teammates completely pumped to get through all the interviews so you could go home to your man, your first love.
Alternate Instincts Ch.20
Tumblr media
Stephanie sighed again in boredom, kicking her legs as she sat on the examination table in the sterile white room that resembled every other examination room she's been in. They didn't let all five of them to be in the room with her so only Geralt was leaning against the wall, arms folding over his chest. He worked for the Council, the others didn't, so she supposed they trusted him to not do anything shady. Although she did catch a couple surprised, even fearful, looks in August's direction as they had walked inside the nondescript high rise downtown. Something she would ask him about later, if she remembered.
“We request your presence,” She said, mimicking Solo's voice and making Geralt perk a small smile, “But we're going to have your strip down to your smalls, put on a paper thin gown, and sit in a cold room for fucking forever.”
“Don't know what they expect to find.” Geralt said.
“I'm going to pop negative on a test. Every time I go for a check-up since you guys went public, they've tested me for lycanthropy along with other routine things and it came back negative every time.” She said, “And it's a feeling you guys have, not exactly something you can find a scan. Unless they hooked diodes to your head or something and had you gaze longingly into my eyes again.” He snorted at that.
“They're probably listening.” He said, “Don't give them ideas.”
“Come here.” She said, opening her arms and he arched a brow at her, pushing away from the wall. “I'm cold and you're a space heater. Get over here and cuddle me.” He snorted again, walking over to her and standing in front of her on the exam table, wrapping her in his arms and holding her against his chest.
“You are cold.” He remarked and she hummed happily as she sank into him.
“Warm.” She said wistfully and he smiled, pressing his lips to her hair as his hands moved over her back. “I'm worried.”
“About this?”
“No.” She said, shaking her head, “We haven't heard or seen anything of Jordan in a while and I—I want to believe that he's gone, that he gave up, but I don't...”
“I've felt him.” Geralt said, “Well, I've felt a Feral when I walk the territory at night. He hasn't tried anything and I haven't seen him, but he's there.”
“I don't like that.” She said, “That he's hiding out in the woods like some bogeyman, waiting for an opportunity.”
“He's never going to hurt you,” Geralt said, his arms tightening just a little bit. “Ever again.”
“Are you alone when you walk around at night?” She asked and he nodded against her hair. “Well, that's going to stop. Take one of the others with you. Buddy system, Mister.”
“I don't—”
“Geralt, for my peace of mind,” She said, “Take one of the others with you.”
“You're not going to ask me to stop altogether?”
“Would you if I did?”
“No.”
“So I'm not going to ask.” Stephanie said, “It may be Sy's territory on paper, but it's all of yours in truth. Also, please don't tell me you unzip on trees while you're doing your walk around.” He was quiet. “Oh sweet Jesus.”
“I don't always patrol on two legs.” He said in his defense and she thumped her forehead against his chest a few times in exasperation. The door to the room cracked open and he pulled away so they could look over at it.
“Is it safe to come in?” Asked the gentle female voice.
“Come on in.” Stephanie said and the door opened wider, the woman wearing a white physicians coat over mint green scrubs walking into the room.
“They told me your Mate was in here with you, and the last time I didn't ask when Mates were together, I walked in on them in flagrante delicto. Better safe than sorry.” She explained briefly, “Ms. Daniels, I'm Dr. Evelyn Mercer with the Pack Council, and this must be Geralt Rivian?” He nodded, “How are you both today?”
“Kinda wondering what you all expect to find, actually.” Stephanie said.
“Same, actually.” She admitted, “I've looked over your medical records and I contacted your GP to get current records and there are no biological signs of lycanthropy, but now that I'm in the same room as you, I can understand why they wanted me to check.”
“I don't feel entirely human, apparently.” She said with a shrug.
“We can't feel humans, exactly, they don't feel like anything in the same way that another person would feel like to you. It's more you don't feel entirely like a wolf. It's there, albeit faintly.”
“Sy said I have the “idea” of a wolf inside me.” Stephanie said and the doctor shrugged.
“Sounds about right.” She said, “Have you noticed any differences in the way other wolves acted around you after your accident versus before?”
“You guys weren't out when I had my accident so I wouldn't know who was a wolf and who wasn't.” She said, “But now that you mention it...”
“Steph?” Geralt asked.
“There was a jock asshole who used to make my life a living hell in high school, my entire friend group actually, a real walking cliche. We were kind of the social outcasts, didn't really fit in with the other groups, even though I was on the school rugby team. One day, a couple weeks after I got back, he was picking on the freshman in our group, being a raging douchebag, pushing him around. I got in his face and told him to back off. He looked like he was going to start in on me too, wouldn't have been the first time, but he suddenly backed down and apologized. He avoided us after that, wouldn't even look at us, or me.” Stephanie said.
“Dollars to doughnuts he was a wolf.” The doctor said, “He felt your “idea” of a wolf and it outranked his.”
“We have a theory that she'd be a female Alpha.” Geralt said.
“Multiple Mates, makes sense.”
“She claimed our Beta as her own.” Geralt said.
“She was able to do that?” Evelyn asked, her brows jumping in surprise.
“That's what Mike, the Beta, told me.” Stephanie said.
“Do you mind if I talk to him?” Evelyn asked and Stephanie shrugged.
“Fine by me.”
Obey me MC timetravels to when Solomon was still ruling King Solomon.
(: AFAB MC although it can be read as Gender neutral for now? I will change this if ever. I have always tried to stick to gender neutral pronouns for MC so If I slip up I'm sorry and kindly tell me. Part 1 probably and will be very short. I just need to gather my thoughts maybe make an outline Uh as much as I would like to make this more inclusive the MC here grew up in a religious household as it is needed for the plot.... so sorry. NB spoiler free yay. Also sorry for the wrong grammar and the typos. I did this on my phone :)
Time travel is not something new to MC. In fact they have already done so multiples times. This however comes as a surprise as instead of anywhere in the devildom. They seem to be in an unfamiliar land instead. somewhere ancient. MC couldn't explain it however the description seems to fit.
Determined to at least find a general location of where they were. Walking along the road near the river which should lead to somewhere with people right? At the very least they hope it will. It wasn't long before they were stopped by a kind lady who looks concerned about MC's modern clothing.
"Oh poor dear! Have you been attacked by bandits on the way here?" MC looks confused but before they were able to refute the old lady's claims they were drag to the home of the lady. "No need to worry I will help you" The old lady assured them before they are able to speak a word. Privately however they thank whatever has put them there that they can understand the language that the lady speaks. Must be some kind of magic or atleast a way to appease them on whatever this is and why does this always happen to them anyways... Waking up in unfamiliar places.
MC was made to sit down as the old lady went to another room. This time carrying a bunch of clothing that MC only has ever seen worn during things such as historical plays or those Movies about the stories from the bible that plays every month of March back where they grew up. As popularized by the holy week. Not wanting to offend the kindness of the stranger they gratefully accepted the clothing. As they were ushered to an empty room to change into the clothes. They suppose it was a good thing so that they can blend in even better while thinking of a way to get back to their timeline. Now to know where in the past they are.
"Um.. Thank you for your kindness..." MC spoke meekly to the older woman in front of them. The older woman just smiled at them.
"You look very out of sorts poor dear. A long way from home I presume?" She asked MC kindly as she folded the clothes MC was wearing earlier.
"Ah you don't need to do that..." MC flushed. This lady remind her of her grandmother.
"It's fine I assure you. So what led you here to Jerusalem?" MC hoped to have kept their facial expressions clear from their shock. Alright that is one problem solved. They are in Jerusalem. But *WHEN* in Jerusalem. Will they be seeing Jesus or something? Does Jesus even exist? MC lowkey wanted to ask the brothers or even Solomon but considering the circumstances they privately kept it to themself.
"Uh... I was actually hoping to visit the temple for... uh worship..." that's a safe answer right? There shpuld be many temples for God here since it's the holy land right? Damn if MC knew thsi would happen they should've paid more attention to theology classes back in their school days. Thankfully it seems that MC has hit the nail on its head somewhat as the woman nodded her head.
"How unfortunate that you arrived here during the Sabbath." Sabbath MC knows that day of rest. Yeah ok they got this. Totally not internally panicking. God they feel like Levi.
"Uh.. yeah how unfortunate..." they trailed off.
"You came at a great time however since the temple that King Solomon has been building has been finished." King Solomon...
Well shit. Well at least now they know for sure when they are in the last but at the same time. Why does this always happen to them really...
"you know plagg, i think what makes this super scary— okay, no, hold on, it's not actually that scary; i'd say that you're 'pretty scary'— why am i bothering to use quotation marks there? it's not like you can even see me—"
"—i can see you."
huh. okay. "you can?"
"well, yeah." same old plagg, even if this isn't his same old form. "that's the whole point of this. it's just that you can't see me."
yeah, no kidding! instead of a ceiling in her room, there's a giant black void, and in this void comes out fog. it's the world's most strangest augmented reality, perfectly suited for the exact space of her room— the void is flush, right up to where the ceiling meets the walls, black-ink fog slowly drifting down and meeting her peachy-pink walls like there is cotton falling from the sky. light refuses to permeate from there, black and dark and horrid, and if it weren't for her hanging plants still hanging from where she'd hooked a long rope from, she'd assumed that her roof had completely been torn off by a black hole.
"actually, what is the point of this?"
"to help you in fights."
"up there?"
"i'm containing myself in your room so that i don't scare the citizens of paris. but yes."
"huh," she says, rather simply, climbing onto her chaise and looking up, up, up. "so you're seeing a birds-eye view."
"correct, princess." his voice is the deepest thing known to mankind. it rumbles like a cinema theatre would, fitting for what must be the biggest entity in the entire universe, hiding on the other side of the portal, but she doesn't expect to hear a: "you forgot to make your bed today," out of him when she continues to pace around the room, trying to spot anything in the void. he sounds like an old man. deep chested. but also very loud.
"it's like the sims," she tells him, ignoring the quip about her bed. he can see that? but that's above her... so he's telling the truth. "or like a dollhouse."
"essentially."
"how is this supposed to help me in a fight other than scare someone shitless?" she brings a finger up to her chin. "you can see me, so you have a physical form, i'm assuming. unless you are just like, a ceiling rug."
"are you scared shitless?"
wow, it's really funny to hear that voice say a curse word. it's got her giggling. in fact, it breaks tension; she can tell, because she knows plagg really well, that he's nervous— he'd mentioned something about this numerous times throughout her life, saying things about protecting her at whatever cost, including using his form that he doesn't enjoy using— so here they are now, acclimating her to this, so that if there's ever a need for it, she won't panic. but tension still bleeds into the room, because plagg is no longer a cute little tiny kitten that fits in both of her palms, but rather something else entirely. and plagg, poor plagg, is terrified. probably because he’s scared of her reaction? that seems the most logical explanation.
"not really," she replies, rather simply. "it's you, plagg. you've seen me when i'm PMSing. that's pretty scary."
he laughs. “i guess you’re right.”
“now, explain to me what i’ll be looking at.”
“i’m not going to show you my face, or any of that stuff. let’s take this slow.”
“like a new fish acclimating to a new fish tank.”
“your metaphors need some work,” he drawls, a laugh curved into the end. “but sure. anyway, i’m a giant cat god. which is why i don’t want to alarm you with my face, or anything. or my body.”
“like the great sphinx?”
“not exactly. but i’m pretty big, just like it.”
“do you have a tail?”
“i do.”
“awh. and cat ears, too?”
“and cat eyes.”
“you sound cute. like a giant cat? why is that so scary?”
“because i am scary. when i want to, i’ve got six paws.”
six? jesus. ah. oh. hm.
“what do you need all those paws for?” she teases, even though her heart is racing and she’s doing her best not to make a face.
“to deal with you,” he replies, right back, and she imagines that he’s leaning on his folded palms with his chin, just like he always does, whenever he’s fascinated with something. “i’m gonna reach out with one of my hands. don’t freak out. i’ll go slow.”
“you got it, little chef.” then, she stops, before finding herself blurting out: “wait!”
“yeah?”
“i wanna see your left hand.”
“why?”
“i want to have at least some choice.”
he snorts. “will that actually make you feel safer? or are you just pulling my ear?”
“i don’t know. i’m just trying to make you feel better.”
“okay. left one it is, then. let me scoot a bit because i’ve been leaning this entire time on it.”
the two of them go quiet; her, waiting, anticipation stringing her up like a puppet, baited breath stuck in her throat. him, apprehensive, no doubt worried about her reaction because she knows that he has a soft spot for her, try as he might even attempt to deny it. the two of them love each other for a reason. and maybe she feels a bit of pride every time she recalls that he’s told the other kwamis that she’s the best holder he’s ever had, no questions asked.
the void starts to move. she blinks up at her ceiling golden pothos, the vining thing that shifts on her ceiling every time there’s a slight breeze from her humidifier. from the darkness, something emerges, reasonably far away from her and where she stays next to her desk, falling from the void like a puff of the fog.
it’s massive.
it’s massive.
the thing about it is that it’s not even a paw. a giant, almost-barely-translucent, fog-like hand reaches out and rests against her chaise. the arm is thicker than a tree. almost as wide as a car. it— him— he wouldn’t be able to fit through her door. he dwarfs the poor chaise like he’s playing with a miniature dollhouse. oh, oh oh oh— and the fingers— the fingers are that of a human, broad-palmed and kinda proportionately thick fingers? at the ends are claws. just like hers whenever she’s in her hexleather, plagg has talons.
“holy shit!” she eeps, jumping in surprise. giddiness bubbles out of her like carbonation, eyes wide and lips peeled in a grin. “whoa,” she exclaims. and then: “whoa. whoa, whoa whoa!”
“you’re freaking out.”
“you are so much bigger than i thought!”
“princess, you’re freaking out.”
“why do you have human hands?” she blurts out. “you’re a cat god. why human hands?”
“i’ve always had them.”
“but not in your kwami form?”
“i don’t really need fingers at that size.”
“i thought i was going to see a giant cat paw.” even though instinct is telling her to flee, flee, flee, she’s hotwired her brain to deal with whatever is giving her heart palpitations head on. the beauty of fighting akumas every week for the past ten years, of course, and yet even plagg himself seems tense— or as tense she can possibly tell based on a single left hand and strong forearm— when she walks close. “i was ready to see some cute toe beans! toe beans of a cat god! how cute would that have been? but you’re telling me you actually have a hand?”
his thumb is bigger than her. just his thumb. it’s about the same size and stature of mister bug— christ, no, she’s completely wrong, mister bug is the size of plagg’s pinky finger, claw not included— she touches him on instinct, and plagg doesn’t tell her no, so it must be safe. she knows it is. plagg loves her. plagg cares about her. he’d never hurt her. she can feel it.
she faceplants into the webbing between his thumb and forefinger before she starts screaming bloody murder.
“you’re a god,” she mumbles. his skin is cold. physically there, even though he’s slightly transparent. she can sort of see the chaise. the floor. the other side of her room from this angle. she screws her eyes shut before she panics about seeing right through his skin.
“yeah.”
“oh my god,” she wheezes. “this is… wow. plagg, you’re incredible! i always forget that you’re not actually my cat kitten thing but an actual god!”
“i can show up like this even when i’m inside the ring,” he murmurs, or at least tries to, because he’s a massive cat god hiding inside a portal that occupies the entire real estate of her ceiling. “if there’s a sentimonster giving you an actual issue, we can open this gate.”
he says nothing about how she’s purring, nuzzling into his finger, replying with a: “it’s a gate?”
“it’s a portal. gate. whatever. i’m just saying that i’m here for you, okay? always. even during a fight. hey, are you even listening?” he lifts her chin up with the very middle of his finger pad, knowing better than to use the actual talon that adorns the tip. she has the ridiculous sensation of being a polly pocket. “hey. pay attention. the ring takes me to another dimension whenever you power up— it’s a long story, it’s not necessary to explain that— but that means i’m able to come into this dimension whenever there’s a fight, too. i’m pretty fast at grabbing things. maybe i can grab a sentimonster and hold him for you, or something.”
“we’ll work something out, i’ve definitely got some ideas. hey, are you hungry? do you wanna, uh, shrink back a bit to come eat food? i don’t know if you’ll get through the trapdoor like that. i don’t think you even want to get through the trapdoor like that.”
“okay. sure.” and then, just as his hand slowly retreats, still scared to make her scared, she hears him say: “thanks for not relinquishing the ring right then and there, princess. i was… pretty nervous.”
quick lil randall x gn!reader (finale spoilers)
i don't even know what this is. i felt compelled to dump these thoughts somewhere because that last randall scene well. i know a perfect fic setup when i see one okay? now the thoughts are on the post so i am free of them amen 🙏 please let me be above writing for this man again
so you know the deal. after the whole thing with the cicadas randall wakes up alone in the colony house room. so many questions. first of all what the fuck. second of all: ???????
then he sees you walk in with a jar and glass of water in your hand. you go "oh shit you're awake? does that mean marielle is also okay??"
he tries to place you, he thinks he's seen you around colony house but that's it. he's not even sure who marielle is supposed to be so he gives you a really tired "i guess?" while rubbing his eyes
he starts to realise that someone had to bring him here. was it you? was it... donna? oh, fuck. it's becoming clear that mistakes were probably made
you pour yourself some water to drink, then refill the glass back up to rhe top and hand it to randall. you don't know all the details of what he did but you know enough not to have a lot of sympathy for him. you were tasked with keeping an eye on him, though. easier said than done after taking all the guns out of the house
"you know, you were incredibly lucky to make it through the night out there. literally. no one believed it when they brought you here still breathing."
yeah, that was quite the shocker to him as well. the last thing he remembered was a literal swarm of bugs entering his body. and after that... had that been a nightmare? it felt so real. jesus
"so what were you doing here? just watching me sleep?"
you remembered his glassy eyes and ocassional screams and laughed. "sleep is an overstatement"
"that's creepy" he replied anyway
you stared at him for a bit, mulling over your thoughts. you let him drink his water.
"you know..." you started, getting serious "people here are nice. they're kind. they're understanding. everyone freaks out when they've just arrived. and you got here at a really difficult time."
randall started thinking to himself. why were you trying to encourage him? if, and that was a big if, he had really been wrong—well, he was pretty sure none of the other passengers from the bus had ended up tying the leader of the community to a fucking tree
of course, he didn't mention any of that out loud. instead, he looked directly at you. he still had it in him to be defiant
"you actually like it here, don't you?"
you looked away for a moment, feeling embarrassed and ashamed. even in this state he managed to score a point somehow
you took the empty glass from his hand and set it on the table. "i liked it a lot better before it all went to hell. you should've seen the place then."
you and randall kept talking for a bit. it was surprisingly easy to talk to him. and dangerously easy to forget what he did.
eventually, you left to go ask kristi to check on him. on your way out you got a shiver. you wondered if he would heed your advice. you hoped that he would. this place had seen enough death
at the same time, though, you thought how you'd feel perfectly content to never have to speak to him again
but nothing is ever that easy. of course, as soon as he's feeling well, he's first in line volunteering for physical labor and trying to help. he seems to be on his best behavior—but what is really going on inside his head?
you can tell both boyd and donna feel the same way as you. enough fighting, enough deaths. they compromise. whatever tasks he's able to perform in handcuffs, he's free to collaborate
and you're, of course, the one assigned to keep a constant eye on him while you work. so you can bet that you're the one that he'll keep trying to impress
Brother, you are going to be the best King this Universe has ever seen. It's quite evident in almost everything you do, actually.
Are you aware of that? I do hope you're aware of that.
Thank You! I'm going to try My best.
If I succeed, well... I think that's the point of Me? i can't really take credit for My own self just doing stuff I was supposed to do in the first place.
And if I don't... :/ I hope I don't disappoint everyone. They all have a lot of faith in Me.
Even You.
Um. It's. Yeah. It's really, really nice to know that even the former Severity of Judgement is, um. Has. Faith? In. Me???
Because. Nobody is certain. Really certain. How it's all. Gonna.
Well. If I'm ruling Hell. Um. And I'm also ruling 1/3 of Heaven like I am now...
That's 2/3 of Heaven I am not ruling. Mother kept those parts for Herself.
So, Christian Heaven (this is a VERY broad definition of Christian here, folks, we take a lot of "I guess I believe in something" people because their understanding of "something" is still "Heaven/Hell/monogamy/forgiveness/Santa Claus Is Important Somehow." I can't sue him for breach of contract because technically he fulfills his part of the bargain that way -- and I'll tell that story, it just pisses Me off so much it'll take a minute) is not warring with Hell for, like... The first time ever.
Yeah. It'll take a while to sort it out, but as of now they're both under My leadership, so a fight would be a huge conflict of interest for everyone involved.
Jewish Heaven is... They're not fighting anyone. It's like a luxury cruise liner. There's an endless buffet, there are gaming rooms where you can play whatever games you want with your friends and family, there's even talent shows and beauty pageants (we had to keep it to participation trophies for the kinder, because the kids don't care if they win first place as long as they all get the same amount of candy for participating, but grandparents would turn it into fucking Valhalla for their bubbeleh if you let them).
The angelic presence there is minimal. They're basically Janets, if you know from The Good Place. Occasionally one of the big names will drop by for a meet 'n' greet day and to crown a winner for something, but I think it's just when they need a break anyway.
The Muslims who get into Heaven are all pretty chill people, fortunately. The murderous zealots do get into Hell, like every other faith beneath our tent, but it's kinda pleasing how fast a lot of them catch on once they realize they're not getting what they thought they would. I guess when your afterlife is that concretely described, you have a pretty solid metric of whether you did the right thing or not.
Don't get Me wrong, the angels who serve their Heaven are willing to throw down. Some of their humans might, reluctantly. But the majority of them up there are going to remember that the jihad of a well-reasoned and well-stated argument is always the first resort, before defensive violence. They will try to explain to the demons why they should stop fighting. And their angels will be backing them up going, "You better agree with my homie or my sword is in your brain before you can finish saying the 'O' in 'No'."
But. My slice of Heaven is full of some of the worst shitheads in the world who repented right before they died, but... Didn't fully understand why they were repenting. Their brains just went, "If I make myself feel 'bad' about my 'serial ritual murders' and tell Jesus that I feel that way, I can get into a Better Place."
I agreed to let a lot of real shitbags into My slice of Heaven, is what I'm saying.
And a lot of them do not understand why killing and horrible violence is wrong to do to people, and have only recently managed to come around to "They might have been nice to you one day if you hadn't killed them."
It's a work in progress, and I try to keep them away from the people I'm providing permanent positions as "consultants and entertainment" to (so they don't get pushed into the veal lots once they're done perfecting themselves) so they don't, like... Decide to torture George Frideric Handel for fun. They just practice on each other.
But yeah there's a whole fuckin holding area of deeply pious sociopaths who love Me more than anything else Up There.
*sigh*
Look what happened with the zombies, man. I'm really worried this is gonna blow up in My face spectacularly and something terrible will happen again because I was a naïve idiot.
That happens to Me a lot.
I mean, look what happened with...
*gestures at all of Christianity from Paul's conversion on the road to Damascus to the present moment, in which hardcore Christians pray that Donald Trump will nuke Iran to bring Me back once I get him back in office, which I'm actively trying to make not happen as hard as I can*
Yeahhhhh.
Good intentions, but I'm. I'm wearing a cheerful hand-knitted sweater to My reception as Ruler of Hell, at which I will gently suggest that it might be fun to build safe dwellings for tiny, vulnerable little birds that are known to eat harmful things.
I'll be relieved if I'm not immediately murdered in fifteen hundred ways simultaneously, because I can take it but it's still painful.
Most likely scenario is I am laughed at until everyone pees their pants, and then they leave, and Muriel is there to offer some kind of cheerful encouragement and Saraqael says something wry about how I was a dumbass.
I'm emotionally prepared for either of these two scenarios.
I just have no other good ideas for introducing Myself.
Note
leave the dining hall, and stick together hehehehe -iris
Maeda, narrating - Y'know, I wonder if the pots and pans that we have are the actual ones used by the Hopes Peak cooking staff, or if the mastermind got new ones.
Maeda - It doesn't matter- like, at all- just interesting to think about.
Maeda - Maybe we should think a bit more about how the mastermind set all of this up.
Maeda - I don't really have any thoughts on that right now, though...
~*~
//Maeda and Taira left the dining hall in silence, and continued their silence while they walked. All that can be heard is their footsteps-
Maeda - !
//Until Maeda realizes something is off.
Maeda - …It sounds like someone's coming down the stairs.
//Maeda stops, with Taira following suit- she seems confused, but that quickly changes as she hears the footsteps as well. Only a second after, it’s completely quiet; the third person has also stopped walking.
Maeda - ...
Taira - ...
//Taira sighs, quietly.
Maeda - ?- !
//Maeda looks up the stairwell, and sees… Tsurugi. At least, he sees the upper half of Tsurugi’s head, and the tips of his fingers. There’s a wall which divides the stairwell into two halves, one before the landing, one after. Tsurugi seems to have heard Taira and Maeda as they heard him, as he’s now making a show of peeking around the wall.
Maeda - ...Oh my God…
//Maeda watches as Tsurugi continues to shift around the wall, slowly moving until eventually, his whole body can be seen.
Taira - …Jesus-
Tsurugi - Howdy.
//Tsurugi is crouched on the railing.
Taira - …This is why you're advised against touching railings, Maeda. You can never know what germs have gotten on them.
Tsurugi - Wait, that isn't what I was told?
Tsurugi - I thought you aren't supposed to put your hands on railings because railings aren't for touching, they're for me to climb on.
Tsurugi - Every railing. All around the world. All for me, and no one else should use them ever, because you never know when I'll show up and want to use it to climb on.
Tsuurgi - Who knows where I'll pop up!
Tsurugi - The wooden railing in your church, that only exists for two or three stairs? The metal railing, for your apartment complex, the one with all the weird bars as siding?
Tsurugi - Plastic, rubber railings are usually safe though- those ones are weird to climb on, so...
Maeda - What are you doing, Tsurugi?
Tsurugi - Having a great time!
Tsurugi - Uh, for reals though, I'm going to my room.
Taira - ...
Maeda - ...Wait.
Maeda - Tsurugi, hold on. What about cleaning up the rec room?
Tsurugi - ...The rec room is in the exact same state as it was last night…
Tsurugi - Everyone’s just been organizing- like, everyone was taking stock of everything!
Tsurugi - And, also, we were fucking around. Just a bit.
Tsurugi - But, anyways…
Tsurugi - We realized that there really isn’t a whole ton of stuff to clean up? It’s just that it felt like a lot, because when we were grabbing everything, it was only Tomori, Uehara, and I, but now there’s like…
Tsurugi - Three times the amount of people, so it’s only a third of the horrors, which is a manageable amount of horrors.
Tsurugi - So, I got kicked out, to go and look at my room, and start taking care of things there!
//As he explained, Tsurugi moved from crouching on the railing, to moreso sitting on it. One of his legs is visibly stretched out along the part of the railing that Maeda can see, leading Maeda to assume the other leg is on the railing which Maeda can’t see. Trying to keep track of Tsurugi, and all of his limbs, has proven itself to be too much for Maeda- he has entirely lost track of the conversation.
Taira - ...
Taira - And you're just... going by yourself?
Tsurugi - ...
Tsurugi - Right?
Tsurugi - I think...
Tsurugi - I don't know! It all feels a bit weird right now, you know?
Tsurugi - ...The conversation in the dining hall took a weird turn, didn't it? I don't know. My head feels a bit-
Tsurugi - ...
Tsurugi - Sorry, I started thinking about helium balloons. Uh...
Tsurugi - I don't know, I think it's fine. I really think...
Tsurugi - Coming up with rules, analyzing things, and making predictions based off that... it's a good tactic, but not here, because there's so many variables...
Tsurugi - We really can't create an accurate projection, because we don't know all of what's impacting the outcome.
Tsurugi - Uhm... but, it's good that everyone else is comforted. It makes them feel better, so...
Maeda - ...
Maeda - What... are they going on about?
Maeda - ...Actually...
//Tsurugi shifts once again- he keeps moving, unable to settle down. For a moment, Maeda wonders why he doesn’t simply get down from the railing, since Tsurugi seems to be uncomfortable. But, just as he decides to say something- Tsurugi “falls” backwards, and proceeds to dangle off the railing, using his legs to balance as he hangs.
Tsurugi - ...Ugh.
Tsurugi - Oh!
//Tsurugi turns to look at Maeda and Taira.
Tsurugi - What are you two up to, though?
Maeda - We're going to the rec room, we figured we'd see if everyone could use a hand.
Taira - ...
Taira - Would you like for one of us to go with you to your room, Tsurugi?
Tsurugi - ...!
Tsurugi - No, no, I'm good~
Maeda - I mean, everyone expects you to walk to your room by yourself, so, isn’t it best to follow along with that?
//Tsurugi is currently struggling to get down from the railing without injuring himself.
Taira, watching Tsurugi - …
//Taira quietly sighs, then turns to look at Maeda.
Taira - I’m surprised you have any thoughts on the whole-
//She narrows her eyes.
Taira - …No, that makes sense, actually. I just didn’t expect you to be so vocal about it.
Taira - Anyways, I really don’t think things like that apply right now…
Tsurugi - …This is just such a strange subject, yeah?
Tsurugi - Everyone’s gonna be okay, whether we go along with the analysis of death patterns or not.
Tsurugi - So, let’s just drop it…
Maeda - …Yeah, that’s true.
Taira - …
Taira - Tsurugi, are you sure you don’t wish to be walked to your room?
Taira - …Phrasing it like that makes it sound like it’s a matter of safety- but wouldn’t you like some companionship?
Tsurugi - Mm… it’s so sweet of you to think of that, Taira…
Tsurugi - But, I don’t mind spending some time by myself! I wouldn’t want anyone to feel obligated to accompany me, then obligated to stay…
Tsurugi - Oh the obligations! Oh, the humanity!
//Tsurugi is standing on the lowest step on the stairs- he’s looking at Taira and Maeda. Taira is distracted, but Maeda looks over at just the right moment, and catches Tsurugi. For just a moment, so brief it’s more defined by the fact Tsurugi’s expression changed than its actual existence, something is off.
//Tsurugi looks genuinely terrified.
Maeda - !
//Tsurugi hops down from the step he was on, literally-speaking- rather than step off, he jumps with both feet.
Tsurugi - You can come with me if you want! I don’t really have a preference.
Taira - Maeda?
Maeda - Oh! Uh…
~*~
Maeda, narrating - I… honestly think I tapped out for some part of this conversation.
Maeda - It’s all the talk about who goes where, when, with who, and why, and all of that…
Maeda - I grasp the concept of buddy systems, but- honestly, I think it’s like Tsurugi said.
Maeda - So much theorizing on it, and going “if, then”, just gets to be a bit much…
Maeda - I don’t think it’s a big deal right now… personally, I really don’t think anyone is going to try anything.
Maeda - No one has reason to! We’re all in good moods after last night…
Maeda - But, anyways… do I want to go straight to the rec room, or do I want to walk Tsurugi back to his dorm?
Maeda - I don’t think either Taira or Tsurugi have much of an opinion on it.
{Go Straight to the Rec Room}
[Walk Tsurugi to his Dorm]
