Poor William is tired of people making oaths and deals without a second thought of the consequences. Real bummer he's also surrounded by people who barely seem to think once most of the time. 😔😔😔

learning to draw sonic characters for. reasons
they're so hard for me to draw their proportions are so different from how i draw anthros so i have to fight my own muscle memory ;-; this is my first somewhat successful attempt out of... a few (read: too many)
#the reasons may or may not be an au sonics mass attack i'm planning??? we'll see how things work out#new special interest alert. this has gotten to yugioh levels that's how you know i have The Brainrot#the way i draw sonic characters will definitely change as i find a happy medium between my style and the sonic style#but for Practice Reasons (i.e. i bad at drawing mobians) i tried to emulate the official style here#which is why it looks a little stiff lol#most of my drawing attempts were of scourge actually#what can i say. i'm a big fan of his transmasc swag and deviantart recolour energy#(scourge might sorta kinda maybe be my favourite sonic character and also one of my favourites of all time now)#(he rivals kaiba with how much i psychoanalyze him it's nuts)#toonagi art#digital art#artists on tumblr#sonic#sonic the hedgehog#sonic fanart#heehee funny blue hedgehog :]#unfortunately the new brush i've started using is very sensitive so yall get to see my shaky ass lineart#i'm just too awesome and swagful for straight lines i guess (<- has constant hand tremors)

I’ve been really thinking of reopening my art shop soon… I’ve been taking some practice doodles (hence all the posting lately) while I shake off my rust and I’m finding things I enjoy working on again. I miss trying my hand at more dragons/OCs and colors. my shop’s so broken rn lmao but that’s a problem for a later date it’s just nice getting back into art
#my mental health is starting to improve a bit#took a couple years but I found some meds that finally work better for me#ofc things aren’t 100% but I was really in a pit for a while#like ‘did not leave my house in months and slept 14 hours a day’ kind of pit#so. any improvement is better lol. but nah I’ve been making real improvement and im doing better. a lil shaky sometimes but that’s expected#diagnosed with chronic fatigue too. which is unfortunate but not unexpected. i am indeed god’s sleepiest soldier#i feel like a raisin slowly rehydrating but considering i was in a desert before any hydration is welcome#just learning how to enjoy things again overall#one thing I just couldn’t get myself to do (and enjoy) was art. doodles here and there but nothing to post#and it’s kind of funny because I feel like that downtime actually gave me a chance to think about what I wanted to work on#even when I wasn’t actively practicing#just paying attention to things I guess. enjoying art styles#i genuinely think my experimenting with stained is helping me learn colors#i spend hours in the scryshop im glad it’s paying off lmao#i want to tackle bigger things but i just gotta ease myself into the hang of things again#for now im having fun and that’s coooool. thank you all for your nice comments#i read all tags while kicking my feet and giggling. thank u all#that’s the update on Me tho. more to come hopefully#starting next month/julyish I will have a significant amount of time to dedicate to drawing which i intend on doing#so who knooowwwsss#rambles#funny enough coloring has become my favorite part of the process now. it used to be lineart. now lineart annoys me LOL#i also feel like i kinda lost my ability to write which has been frustrating but im focusing on art first#anyways that’s a whole different tangent rant over

Man im in a very weird state of artblock where i keep sketching everyday but also feel dissatisfied w them what kind of mental illness is this
#me rambles#i guess its bc i tend to not upload them. bc its mixed stuff and kinda messy#and also bc im mostly doing quick sketches as opposed to long term illustrations and such#maybe i jusr need to fixate on lineart n colouring for hours on end without blinking to fix the neurons yea#oh and in terms of writing im jusr. a brick rn lol#but thats normal i just dont have enough practice there i will bounce back#(ignore that im procrastinating on uploading to ao3 shhhh)#oh and also i've been sleeping poorly so yea that affects me too hmmm#delete later#i guess?

the nice thing about drawing 'lineless' art is that I don't have to do lineart but I'd probably benefit from practicing drawing lineart
ah well
#my main issue I think is that my lineart always looks so stiff#aside from it also being kinda janky overall#learning to use line weight better would prob help#I mean I know the concepts it's a matter of applying them consistently#anyway ah well just gotta keep practicing I guess#really want to push myself to improve my art more bc I'm at the stage where I see the jankiness but my skill hasn't caught up yet haha#anyway it's fine I'm fine I just also love 2 complain#inverse problem.txt

#i call any piece where i shade too much a study.#buff woman study!#one day ill be free and can do simplistic shading...#cries#also obviously nothings wrong w shading#it just takes so much time for ME personally#even tho its kinda my style#something ive learned is blending or shading digitally is soo different from traditional#w graphite and w painting like#ill try blending thinking 'so if i did this on paper itd look like this'#it never looks like that#so im like learning how to paint and blend digitally for the first time#hence my. momoi paining practice#also my linearts a diff color from usual and its making me cry it looks so harsh#ill fix it when i finish coloring#dies

Hey, a person who is baffled by lineless styles here. You have a more lineless style and I noticed you do still use darker lines to separate overlap stuff so the cats don’t become amorphous blobs. Is there a certain amount you tend to make the lines darker? Or is it like black at a lower opacity? Also when drawing darker cats (or anything else too), do you have any tips for not making them so dark you can’t see the lines or is it just kinda trial and error? Also sorry if this is a lot of questions, just one more, is there any technique or tool or something you use to make the lines stop exactly where the overlap stops, or do you just do it by hand and kinda get better at it with practice?
(Thank you if you answer this. Stuff like this has confused me for a long time and I’ve just now realized I can just ask, hahah)
HELLO BAFFLED ANON. i hope this helps..
IF YOUR SCREEN IS DARK, our girl still looks pretty ... Dark.. BUT you can always make contrast more extreme! AS FOR THEEEEE LINE TECHNIQUE.. ogh i don't think i know what you mean. MAYBE I DO?? the 'shading' lines are pretty much just done how you'd do lineart lines! if you overshoot and they cross where they shouldn't, erase :3 ALSO GUYS WORKING WITH BINARY BRUSHES IS SOOO SMOOTH JSYK. i accidentally drew shine's face on his head layer and i just had to select and copypaste it onto a new layer to fix that. bc there's no aliasing, the lines can perfectly transfer without needing a touchup for jagged edges

I've been really admiring your ava art; I REALLY REALLY ADORE THEM SO MUCH!!!❤️😭💕💕 and I’m kinda interested in your ava art style. Could you do tutorials with tips or techniques on how to draw in your “ava art style”? I'm really inspired by your work and would love to incorporate some elements of your style into my own art style practice. I don’t want to force you to do this. It’s fine if this is something you prefer to keep to yourself. Btw, Love your work! ❤
AAAAA HIHIII Here's my art process of how i render stuff^^^
Entire explanation and process here:
I make a sketch first and then do base colors underneath
(occasionally I might skip the sketch entirely and go straight into colors, but thats a bit more complicated)
I then merge the layers and start painting on top of it (on the same layer), using the lineart of that sketch as a guide
The reason why I am doing this all on one layer is so that the colors mix and blend together in the way seperate layers just won't do.
I paint two layers of shadows, each with a slightly different hue (usually shifted towards the cooler tones)
After that, I paint the lighting. This time the hue I will use is to a warmer one, painting over the shadows with a warmer tone for the reflective lighting as well
I also do fixing and cleaning up (which is what I really like about coloring on one layer since its easier than doing it with multiple)
Then I do shading again, this time with another layer clipped with 'multiply' on
as well as add another layer for the 'overlay' and edge the shadows
I clip two more layers, one for 'multiply' and one for 'add' for lighting using the gradient tool
Occasionally I will also add an extra 'add' layer and put a color gradient on the shadow for that extra oomph on the lighting
Final result :33
Hopefully this isn't too confusing and fast FJDKSLFLSD Im pretty bad at explaining stuff 😭

i remember you mentioning before that you don't really do sketches- just get straight to the lineart. the sketching/lineart process takes way more time than everything else, for me, and i was wondering if you have any tips for doing it your way?
Here's a visual example of what the asker means ^
The answer to how I do this might not be what you want to hear: A lot of practice. I've put a frick ton of time into learning to draw fast, because it is a skill like any other with art.
I can share some quick tips on how I practised and my thinking process though, if people still are curious and may wanna give it a shot!
One of the main ways I practiced this was by using permanent pens and markers while doodling in school. I always disliked how pencil smudged so that came kinda naturally to me, but it was a huge help anyway!
When you work directly onto a pristine white canvas with no guideline you're forced to really think about where you put each line, and get over the fear of mistakes. By doing this you can grow a natural understanding of where the next thing you're going to draw should be.
(Sorry if the picture is not a good explanation, I've never been much a teacher. (Also for full disclosure I did use ctrl+z when drawing this example.)) Here I tried to picture how by having the face shape lined, I can use knowledge of anatomy and what looks good to place the eye of the character in. Then with the eye in I can "Unlock" more feature locations!
It also helps being familiar with the character... I've drawn the cast of this comic so many times that these boys just show up when I ask lol.
This approach has a lot of issues, like it can be very hard to keep a character design consistent. Another is that if u get too bogged down on doing the same thing that works you're going to start making some really stale looking art-- It's so important to not just draw what works but to go for ugly perspectives and weird experiments.
Still, I hope this can help someone! It's not a method that works for everyone, but it's a fun one to explore :)
