I believe the secret in writing is that fiction never exceeds the reach of the writer’s courage. The best fiction comes from the place where the terror hides, the edge of our worst stuff. I believe, absolutely, that if you do not break out in that sweat of fear when you write, then you have not gone far enough. ... It seems to me the only way I have forgiven anything, understood anything, is through that process of opening up to my own terror and pain and re-examining it, recreating it in the story, and making is something different, making if meaningful – even if the meaning is only in the act of telling. ... That’s what I believe to be the important of telling the truth, each of us writing out of the unique vision our lives have given us.

Logged in to this message in a group chat after recommending the Shivadh books to another friend yesterday 😂 thought you might enjoy
Tumblr media
Awwww what a lovely thing to share, thank you! I hope she liked it. I always enjoy hearing about people loaning out or recommending the books, not even because it might mean sales but just because I like the idea of people reading them. I like it when people enjoy my personal blorbos :D
Also my apologies for the belatedness of this response, holy shit how is it already July 16th....
[ID: An image from a group chat of a message from "Little Dinosaur"; the text reads "Kristie, I saw you marked Fete For A King as currently-reading on Goodreads and I IMMEDIATELY knew that Allison had been here in the group chat doing the Lord's work. (This series is so good!)" There are a few laughing emojis appended to the message.]

Jonathan Bailey and Matt Bomer's Interview with The Hollywood Reporter (2023)
Tumblr media
“Johnny B! Johnny B!” Matt Bomer exclaims as he logs in to Zoom to join his Fellow Travelers co-star, Jonathan Bailey, to do press for their critically acclaimed Showtime limited series.
“Hey, Matty Mo,” Bailey replies.
The actors spent about six months filming the eight-episode series — so, of course, they’ve established a playful bond. On this particular day, they’ve even given each other nicknames.
“I don’t think I’ve ever called Matt ‘Matty Mo’ in my life,” a smiling Bailey says.
“I love Matty Mo,” Bomer replies. “Listen, I love Matty Mo. I appreciate it.”
Bomer and Bailey built a brotherhood and onscreen chemistry for the historical romantic drama about two male political staffers who fall in love at the height of the Lavender Scare, a time when homosexuals were banned from holding positions in the federal government. The series — based on Thomas Mallon’s 2007 novel of the same name — follows their intense affair into the ’80s, also visiting Vietnam War protests and the AIDS crisis.
Zoom, it turns out, is where the actors first met, reading lines together to see if there was magic. And there was.
Since debuting in late October, Fellow Travelers has had an overwhelming response from viewers — some connecting directly with Bomer’s Hawkins Fuller, a veteran and State Department official who carefully hides his homosexuality, or with Bailey’s Tim Laughlin, an eager and naive congressional staffer who falls hard for Hawk. Others have identified with some of the supporting cast, including Allison Williams in the role of Hawk’s wife, Lucy Smith, and breakout stars Jelani Alladin as reporter Marcus Hooks and Noah J. Ricketts as drag performer Frankie Hines, whose gay Black love story is one of the show’s many highlights.
“It’s so nice to be able to have discourse with people who are responding to the show. That’s been really refreshing and enlightening,” says Bomer, who is also an executive producer on the series.
Bailey, best known for Bridgerton and his theater work, says he was drawn to the show because “it felt new and it hadn’t been done in this way — in an elevated, eight-hour, rich aesthetic with gay actors.
“The queer experience is so different for so many people,” he adds, but the one thing that unites the queer experience is these moments in history.”
In an interview with THR, Bomer and Bailey talk about prepping for their roles and being gay while playing gay, while also breaking down those milk and toe-sucking scenes.
What has it been like to have people connect emotionally to the series?
MATT BOMER: I won’t name names or anything, but I’ve known people over the years who’ve made similar choices that Hawk made in order to survive. Not governmentally — I mean in a society that certainly didn’t want to see them succeed. But for me, the most refreshing thing has been the young people who are really engaged in the show and knew nothing about the Lavender Scare, and are speaking to the show and the characters, but also, aspects of our history that they were unaware of that the show has — I don’t want to say taught them about, because it’s not a teaching tool — but they’ve learned about through the show.
JONATHAN BAILEY: When people respond in that way and you hear their personal stories, it’s amazing that people feel that they want to share that. It’s the most grounding thing to tell a story and investigate a time or a period or a movement, that hopefully leaves an imprint on people, and/or catalyzes them to tell people and talk about their own stuff. That’s the dream, really.
Jonathan, it’s so heartbreaking to watch Tim hurting in various scenes. What were you pulling from to give such a strong emotional performance?
BAILEY: Thirty-five years on this earth. (Laughs.) Drawing it from the ground. Naturally, it’s totally parts of me and parts of people that I know, experiences that you think of. Tim’s character arc is so huge, and [I wanted] to capture his youth in those early moments and then expand into what breaks such a pure, optimistic, passionate soul and all the different ways in which that could show itself. There were moments on set that you couldn’t help but be incredibly moved by.
We found ourselves filming by coincidence on World Aids Day. It is really not hard to feel the importance, but also just the grief is palpable in the stories. And there is a lineage — you inherit this in your community. It just felt like an opportunity to learn as much as I possibly could, generally, about the queer experience. We are surrounded by amazing gay men, as well. And then, of course, I’ve lived my life trying to understand the gay experience, so it wasn’t a shallow pool to [pull from].There’s a well there.
Matt, your character is so cutthroat, but obviously there’s sympathy for him, as well. What was it like playing Hawk?
BOMER: Hawk does what he has to do to survive. He has his empathy and his allegiances, but anything that calls his survival into question, there are immediate and severe boundaries. But then enters Tim, who is so guileless and so full of love and all the things that Hawk wishes he could be at his core, or maybe once was before certain aspects of his life changed that or his point of view about that. You’re always looking for a shadow in your character, and it was so refreshing — he obviously has a public persona, a veneer that he presents to the world in order to maneuver in it, but he really leads with a lot of the more shadowy aspects of a typical character. It’s the love and the more open and vulnerable aspects that are his shadow in many ways. That was an interesting flip for me to get to sink my teeth into.
It’s profound to have two gay actors playing two gay characters on a TV show. Did you ever think something like this could exist?
BOMER: Honestly, no. My mind has been blown so many times over the past 20 years. I’m just so grateful that the gatekeepers gave us this opportunity. I was doubtful, almost up to the 25th hour on this, that they were really going to put the money and the opportunity into this series that they did. And I’m just so grateful that people who are in the position of calling the shots gave us the chance to tell the story — and the way we needed to.
BAILEY: It’s the Tims of the industry, who are searching for more, who are deconstructing, who are questioning. Because they’re all a similar peer group — [series creator] Ron [Nyswaner] knows Dante [Di Loreto, executive producer of Glee and P-Valley], who’s at Fremantle [which produced the show], and they’ve worked together for years. This isn’t something that just got commissioned overnight, because there’s a wave of progress. The people who are really doing it, as well as the actors, are the people in positions of power who have worked their way up with these questions.
And it’s funny, the one thing I have thought over the years is — I’ve just looked at gay characters, they’re such rich, brilliant, oppressed, complicated, joyous characters to play, so of course people want to play them. And this is a brilliant example of: What better way to do a character study of two polar-opposite gay characters than have gay people play them? But that’s what I felt growing up. I just thought, “Of course people want to play those parts,” which is great. It’s just, what happens if, just for a moment, gay people play them?
And I do think that everyone can play everything, and that’s what we should be headed toward. But I do think there’s a balance that needs, and needed, addressing. And there are a lot of people whose questioning and hard work have created a world in which this can fly.
BOMER: I agree with you wholeheartedly. And it is the Tims of the industry or maybe some Hawks, too, hoping for retribution.
BAILEY: That’s true. We stand on the shoulders of all the Hawks, as well.
BOMER: (Laughs.)
BAILEY: [The Hawks] did all the work at MGM, yes. (Laughs.)
Jonathan, your character drinking milk in the series got a lot of attention.
BAILEY: It was a brilliant way of showing such naiveté, and immediately you know that this is a character who’s completely outside the world Hawk inhabits, and he sees the world completely differently. He’s so open. It’s so interesting, isn’t it? Because, it’s funny that Tim leads with his heart and his openness and his childlike wonder, and his shadows are his compulsive nature of constantly needing something that he can’t fill. There’s a moment in episode six — they’re in Frankie’s flat, and I was like, “He’s got to be drinking milk.”
BOMER: There was a power shift in episode eight, too.
BAILEY: Exactly. The milk was on the call sheet. It’s a character in its own right. And also the milk’s character arc is more dramatic than everyone else. Give it a spinoff, I say. (Laughs.)
There was also that toe-sucking scene. Jonathan, did you get the script and it said “suck toe”?
BOMER: Just “suck toe.” (Laughs.)
BAILEY: It was very, very precisely written down — it was as precise as it needed to be. I saw that as an incredible way to dissect power. I got it when I read it, and I wasn’t intimidated by it. I was just like, “If in the first episode that’s what we are doing, it’s going to be worth five months moving to Toronto, and it’s going to be a series that I would want to watch.” Because not only is it incredibly complicated, not only is it really hot, it’s also something that masks as being provocative, but actually it’s really psychologically impactful and the people who get it get it.
BOMER: I think all those scenes were a really external representation of what was going on with these characters internally, emotionally. And for me, it was really refreshing to see the gay love scenes brought to light in a really unflinching way.
BAILEY: The shock and overwhelm and the tantalizing chemical combustion that happens seeing it — it’s a greater sensory experience because that’s exactly what it meant for Tim in that moment. It captures exactly what’s going on for Hawk and Tim, hopefully, allowing the viewer to experience a bodily reaction to it in the same way, whatever that may be.

Squared Away by Suaine

Alpha LT Derek Hale gets a promotion, a pack, and a mission. Stiles is a complication.
***
We Fight Monsters Together by scarlettletterr
(1/1 I 11,555 I Explicit I Sterek)
Derek Hale doesn't trust humans anymore and is determined to pilot his family’s mecha alone. Too bad he doesn't get a choice when he's paired up with the brightest most sarcastic human mind to ever come out of Beacon Hills in the form of Stiles Stilinski.
Second Galaxy to the Right and Straight On Til Morning by spurklie
(1/1 I 16,679 I Explicit I Sterek)
Stiles is reading reports on his tablet and drinking from a bottle of water in the base mess hall when he realises there is someone standing at his table. Dragging his eyes up from the calculations, he chokes on his water and then spits some all over Derek, who barely flinches.
Ultra Violet by ElisAttack
(3/3 I 16,836 I Teen I Sterek)
"There's no way he's a quarian. Least of all the quarian prince we're supposed to be escorting." Erica whines, and Derek wonders why he named her his staff lieutenant, she has no tact whatsoever.
"I'm sorry, but you must be a level 4 friend to unlock my tragic back-story." The prince jokes. "And call me Stiles, even I can't pronounce my actual name."
Or the one where Derek and his crew are assigned to be the glorified babysitter of an alien prince, and everything is not as it seems.
Triton's Folly by Kaye_Fraser, S3anchaidh
(8/8 I 46,185 I Teen I Sterek)
As an officer in the United Earth Alliance, Major Derek Hale understands the order of things and his place in the world. Yet, a decade of war and a lifetime of dedicated service have taken its toll. The only thing that has kept him sane all these years is the video logs of a scientist he’d found years ago, buried in the rubble of a research station on Callisto. He knows that the man in the videos – Stiles – is long gone, lost to the vastness of space, but to Derek, he’s alive. In fact, he thinks he has fallen half in love with the boundless energy and bright-eyed optimism of the image he sees on his screen. Then, everything changes when a fateful mission strands him on the surface of a desolate moon … and brings him face-to-face with a man he had only ever dreamed of meeting.
Relationships That Start Under Intense Circumstances by seraphina_snape
(1/1 I 59,448 I Explicit I Sterek)
In a world where werewolves are a normal part of life and the Argents have turned from being hunters into leading one of the biggest pro-wolf organizations in the US, Stiles is the newly promoted assistant head of the Argent Weapons International R&D department. When he uncovers a conspiracy and finds evidence of an anti-werewolf movement that spreads into the highest positions at AWI, he knows he must do what he can to stop Kate and Gerard Argent from destroying what the rest of the Argents (and the rest of the world) have worked for so hard.
Things get a little complicated when Kate and Gerard turn the tables on Stiles and accuse him of treason and espionage. On the run and with killers on his tail to shut him up, Stiles has to find a way to stop the release of a dangerous product, prove his innocence and find a way to implicate Kate and Gerard in the conspiracy. With his dad, Scott and Allison in danger from Kate and Gerard, Stiles is incredibly grateful when he meets Derek Hale who promptly saves his life. But it soon becomes clear that Derek is hiding something that could be the undoing of Stiles and everything he's trying to do.
Specialized Technical Intelligence and Logistics for Earth and Space (S.T.I.L.E.S) by Yiichi
(10/10 I 73,419 I Not Rated I Sterek)
“What the hell kind of a name is Stiles?” he asked.
“You know, a series of sounds spoken in a particular sequence that represent my identity, primarily, referring to me?“ the AI – Stiles – answered cheekily, crossing his own arms in front of his chest, mirroring Derek’s position.
“Ooh, this one’s feisty,” Peter smirked.
War Crimes by loserchic
(69/69 I 81,840 I Mature I Sterek)
In a fantastical military state, Stiles, an orphaned nobody, street smart omega was rescued as a child by war hero alpha, Commander Derek Hale. Six years later, Stiles still maintains an obsession with taking care of himself and a blatant mistrust of alphas. Stiles becomes the first omega to be accepted into elite training with the Black Wolves, the military's special operations force. Derek has always intended to mate with Stiles and is furious at the idea of him entering training. However, Stiles' guardians only agree to allow Derek to mate with Stiles if he allows Stiles to attempt Black Wolves' training. Derek becomes Stiles' commanding officer and the war between them begins. Also a lot of fraternization.

Blackout
Andrew wakes to a storm and a chorus of voices arguing somewhere out in the hall. It takes looking at his phone to know that it was ten in the morning, the downpour was making it seem as though the sun never rose. Andrew stays in bed weighing his options, was it worth investigating? Looking over, Neil was missing from his nest of blankets and sheets. Andrew lets out a long sigh while heaving himself from the bed. The freezing air bites at his skin the moment his covers slip from over him. Before searching for a sweater to pull on, Andrew tries the light switch. To his annoyance, the room stays pitched in shadow. The muffled arguing seems to be between three distinct voices, every shout becoming a pulse in Andrew's developing headache. Tired of fumbling around for a sweater, Andrew navigates the dark rooms and finds the entrance. More roughly than he intends, the lock clicks loudly and the door swings open to shadowy figures illuminated by phone flashlights. The hall goes silent as he approaches Nicky, wordlessly. Snatching his phone, Andrew points the light at each face, never minding their squints and complaints.
"Ugh, seriously?" Allison put up a manicured hand to shield her eyes. Next to her is Dan, with a hand around Allison's other wrist.  Andrew Gathers it was Allison and Nicky who were fighting. Dan, always the optimist, was trying to get them to stop but had to hold Allison back from socking Nicky.
"Where are the others?"
The trio stare at him, hesitating, before Dan admits, "Matt and Aaron went to check up on the Vixens. Renee went to find someone who knew what was going on with the circuit breaker. Kevin's calling Wymack. And Neil... well he slipped away during the commotion without telling anyone where he was going and he isn't answering his phone." All three foxes wait for Andrew's reaction, trying to read his uninterested expression.
They thought they could find Neil before he woke up, Andrew deduces. With Nicky's phone, he unlocks it knowing the password is a combination of Erik and His' birth years. "Hey, privacy dude ever heard of it!" Nicky reached to reclaim his phone but Andrew was quicker, turning his back to the group.
Looking through the call logs, Neil's number was rung about seven times and all caps texts were sent with no response. Andrew shoves Nicky's phone at his chest, letting it go before Nicky could secure a grip on it. "Dickhead," Nicky fumbles to catch his phone while Andrew moves past the girls. They watch as he cracks the lock on the roof access door and disappears into it's shadows.
Neil hears the rooftop door open then shut through winds and rain. Footsteps approach from behind, splashing in the large puddles.
"How many times do I have to tell you to keep your phone charged?" The familiar voice jabbed from a few feet away.
"Watch the stars with me." Andrew stares at where Neil's voice came from. He has to be low to the ground, maybe on his back.
Andrew squints at the sky, there were no stars in sight, just the onslaught of rain that made it difficult to even open his eyes. "You finally lost it huh?"
"Stargazing, yes or no?"
"Can we get out of the fucking rain?"

Without further ado
FANFICS
First fic is of Allison's Incident with being a hidden Wendigo by @rosieofthyposie (my bestie/Sister)

"Hey! You guys should totally come over for camping in my backyard!"
It was just an innocent request from the young Tamarack. Not like Allison or Ivory knew what a camping trip entailed. Naivety still ran all around the group about the truth of the two. So Ivory was quick to agree and of course dragged Ally along. Not like Ally protested much. She had a liking for Tam and Qiu. They weren't going to be far from the Culdesac anyway.
Just as Ivory and Ally arrived, Qiu was just behind and Tam had set up a table and her sleeping bag next to a ring of rocks. Ally tilted her head slightly but didn't question the ring of rocks. Maybe she should have. Tam's face lit up with a bright smile that was contagious for the other three kids. Even Ally who didn't smile often. Qiu then placed the marshmallows he brought, Ally and Ivory placing the chocolate down that Tam requested they bring as well. Tam already had the gram crackers. A confusing name for Ally to comprehend. A gram is a weight, nor does it look like a normal cracker but she already asked Ama what it meant and she simply replied 'that's just what they're called'. How inconclusive. Seeing the ingredients on the table now, Tam clapped her hands together. "Now we just need sticks!"
Sticks? Ally already sees metal rods. Would those not work for sticking the food on? But again, Ally doesn't ask and just follows Ivory to pick up sticks of varying sizes as they saw Qiu and Tamarack picking up. Qiu of course brought the bigger sticks and logs it seems, placing them in the stone circle. Tam followed suit and Ivory and Ally were right behind. After adjusting the sticks and logs together, Tam threw on some dry leaves and stuffed them in the little stick tent before rummaging in her bag for something. Ally temporarily was distracted by a rabbit that she pointed out to Ivory so they were both distracted from the fact that Tam pulled out some matches. The bunny was checking out some berries near by and so the two little creatures stared at it for a while. That was until Ally felt her body growing warmer. Not just naturally but from 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨. She was confused for a second before looking back to what was a pile of sticks and leaves and is now a very 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜 fire. Her heart rate picked up and she let out a mix between a hiss and a growl. Without a thought in her head now, she raised a hand ready to attack the person who started the fire but Ivory as quick. She grabbed Ally by the hands and turned her away from the group, earning confused stares but she just smiled. "Ally isn't used to fires... She was just a little scared. We'll... Be right back."
Quickly she pushed Ally away and quickly to the house where Ama was reading a book. She glanced up as she heard the door open and frowned seeing Ally shaking so much. "What happened?"
Just hearing the softness of Ama's voice was enough to ease Ally's fear and she quickly ran up to Ama, clinging to her shirt. This would take a minute before she's ready to talk about it and Ivory returned to the other two just briefly to relay the news that Ally wasn't feeling well. 'I ruined another night...'

And here is the one I made about Falco!

Ivory was a Selkie, same with her En Mamma, while her sister, Allison, was not a Selkie but a Wendigo. Erikssons made it work with their new life, even away from any big body of water.
Right now the culdesac kids were hanging out in the Eriksson estate. Hanging out to avoid the cold of the change of Autumn to Winter, specifically, Ivorys room.
"I'm so happy it's Friday! And I Don't have Gymnastics tomorrow!" Ivory said triumphantly to her friends and sister. "Yaaaay!" Tamarack said as she jumped up and and down at the news of her friend being free tomorrow to play.
"Do you want to hang out? Maybe go into town?" her other neighbor piped in with his input. "Actually, I was thinking of playing dolls with Knapp! Maybe the day after AFTER my Gymnastics class! Is the rest of the club gonna go?" "hhmm maybe. I don't know"
"Oooo what's this?!" Tamarack said pulling something off Ivorys bed. "Isn't that the pelt you showed me a few weeks ago Ivy? Before Misses Eriksson told you not to take it out of the house?" Qiu chimed in. Ivory turned to see what the 2 were talking about just to freeze. 'MY SKIN!' she panicked. "N-No!" Allison shouted, shocking Tamarack and Qiu, as she rarely raised her voice.
"Don't touch that!" Ivory shouted in an obviously panicked voice as she jumped up to take it from Tamarack and clutched it to her body, slightly turning away from them.
"I'm sorry Ivory! I didn't mean to make you mad! " Tamarack said quickly, she really didn't mean to make Ivory upset. Both neighbors visibility startled from the normally hyper but also Level Headed girl sounding so panicked and... Scared... They had never seen this side of Ivory.
Allison moved quickly to get near Ivory. Allison was there after the incident with Qiu and her skin. Ivory wanted to show her friends her skin, but after their En Mamma saw Ivory showing her skin to Qiu and was about to let him hold it, she was quick to put an end to it, out of fear. She quickly scolded Ivory before bringing her inside to tell her why she shouldn't show off her skin to people.
After hearing a few stories of En Mamma's friends who had their skins taken and were forced to leave the ocean forever.
It filled Ivory with fear..... So much fear... She likes her neighbors... She LOVES her neighbors... But the thought of that happening to her scared her so deeply.
She knew her En Mamma never meant to scare her like that, but it was still scary to think that one day she could be forced to go with someone just cause they took her skin.
"I... I'm Sorry!" she said quickly before booking it out of her room and right to her En Mamma's room.

Standing, Asalun, & Associates
An AOM &c. AU that nobody asked for, so I'm delivering!
This is me taking Mystery Incorporated, Dead End: Paranormal Park, Hilda, Mob Psycho 100, and let's be honest, the whole ghost segment of The Sword Interval that lives rent-free in my mind into one vibeful concept: Horatio and Marcus run a paranormal investigation business.
Due to all of their proposed names being terrible puns or just not catchy, they gave up and called it Standing & Asalun. They run it out of what is Horatio's Flowers in AOM, and they do extremely lackluster business. However, Celia thinks it's the most delightful fucking thing and inserted herself into the investigation so much that they essentially hired her. She still has a day job, like Marcus, and unlike Horatio MyOwnBoss Standing. Eventually Allison joined in, and even if they would hire him he doesn't actually want the job, so he's technically a contractor. Still, the addition of another regular meant that they finally felt like they had to change the name to Standing, Asalun, & Associates.
Season One
Season one is the alternate story to AOM and begins with things going poorly as usual - they're not actually that bad at their job, but they have a hard time finding people who actually need paranormal things investigated, or even stuff they can put on their video channel - until Sid blows into town, with his parents not far behind. Horatio is instantly convinced that something is Off. No one else agrees - obviously Sid is just having a bad time and is also sixteen years older than when they last saw him. Horatio is ready to acknowledge that he was just too hungry for a lead when Sid starts having dreams that are very clearly not normal weird but paranormal weird. On an island that seems to have nothing paranormal going on, there's nowhere they could possibly be coming from...unless Sid's recently arrived parents have something to do with it. But they're not even witches, let alone known to be capable of whatever this is. So why do they seem to make the dreams worse but their muddy message clearer? SAA - but especially Horatio and the newest associate, Sid - will stop at nothing to find out.
Starring
Horatio Standing
keeps the books
makes the pepe silvia boards
lives above SAA
brings the Fred Jones energy
Marcus Asalun
makes most of the money that goes into the books with his art
designs the ghost science experiments
lives elsewhere but if he could fit his studio into Horatio's place he'd probably just live there. it would cost less
brings the Velma Dinkley energy
Celia Standing
manages the morale
gives the pep talks
lives with Allison
brings the Daphne Blake energy
Allison Hughes
keeps to his own schedule
bakes the snacks
lives with Celia, but it's his house
brings the Shaggy Rogers energy (or Scooby, because wolf)
Sid Reid
keeps a log of his strange nightmares
makes all the food that's not snacks
lives with Horatio and also in fear of his parents, paranormal influence or no
brings the Mr. E energy
with additional appearances by
Avis Peynon
is not your fucking chauffeur service damn it
Sorian Shank
inherited Fred Jones's legendary trapbuilding abilities
Phil Shank
will be your chauffeur service if you don't kill her vibe
Leon Standing
has a book on that but no he doesn't know what the text means either
Edith Standing
banned from contracting with SAA because she pranked them too much
Donovan Reid
is obviously a paranormal intensifier because he's clearly the coolest guy in the world
Emma Reid
read a book about this once and yes she's sure she knows what the text means

Book Review: The Binge code
Tumblr media
So I am mid read on this book, and I thought I would like to share a little because I am sick. I need a pleasant distraction from work today. But, I'm on my lunch break and so fear not, I am logged out.
The Binge Code by Allison C Kerr. " 7 unconventional keys to end and binge eating and lose excess weight."
Part 2 is where you break free from the binge traps so I am going to start there, although she didn't.
What are the binge traps? Although the book does go into detail, I will list them off here very quickly for you.
The diet trap
the yo yo blood sugar trap.
The nutritional deficiency trap
The habit trap
The food rules trap
The false friend trap
The inner critic trap.
So I am through about half of those and I would have to say that this book is worth a read, especially if you feel like this is an issue for you, or especially if you have been dieting for a while.
The one thing that has been most glaringly obvious to me is I've been on this weight loss journey for a couple of years now is the first 3:
The diet trap is that "diets" are short-term, restrictive things that we embark on when we feel like we need to lose weight. We ignore hunger pangs because we are trying to change our eating style, and that blunts our normal hunger cues.
The yoyo thing is where your blood sugar is all over the place.
The nutritional deficiency trap is where you aren't getting the proper nutrients, which makes your body keep asking for food, even if you have already eaten because it doesn't have the right combonation of stuff.
I can understand how these are traps. Yet, I also consider myself to be "dieting," so how do I do I make this congruent to myself?
I have read a lot at this point, and I am working on a full view perspective.
I know from my behavioral science class that your body is also going to ask for food whenever it sees food. Literally, it is how we are made because never ever has food and food like products been so abundant.
You have to know that is happening in your body to make a reasonable decision for where YOU are in your day, journey, etc. Ask yourself: When was the last time you ate? What was it? A junky snack or a real substantial meal? Do you need a meal? What is being offered?
This is a very nuanced topic, which is why a lot of people deal with it and why so many people are overweight.
Alright.
Why do we have such an obesity epidemic?
People are positing as scientific fact that dieting causes people to overeat. It does certainly cause certain psychological things that happen. Most diets use some kind of tool to cause a calorie deficit. One way or another a diets whole goal is to cause a deficit so that you lose weight.
If the diet is super restrictive in some way, it can cause us to have hangups or to hyperfocus on what we are missing. Basically, it is reverse psychology.
The real key is to develop a lifestyle that is balanced enough that we can avoid those traps.
Part of the key might be to just utilize your common sense. If you are getting serious binge urges, you may need to ask yourself if it is valid. Is your body just really asking for food/fuel?
If so, plan and prepare a well-balanced, reasonably protioned meal with proteins, carbs, veggies, and fats. Eat it and wait an hour. How do you feel now?
If you feel like you are hitting the blood sugar trap, up your protein and cut the junk in half, and add a veggie to everything.
Although I consider myself to be "dieting," I am working towards building a lifestyle that will be sustainable over time. I don't want to rebound and pack on the pounds after giving away all my fat clothes.
Ultimately, your lifestyle will be who you become. Which I think is why I am trying to focus on habits over time that are easy to remember and habituate. Mile Monday, 5k Friday, Sunday Bike club. Races & activities.
I am always focusing on overcoming my particular hurdles so that my lifestyle will be in balance. Activity and rest. Sports and Academic. Food and fasting, in balance.

But then what would Red Vs Blue look like as a Sword Art Online fusion?
Because, like, it's easy to just dump them in complete AU, but I mean actual story translation?
Cause obviously the Reds and Blues would be newbie player, or at least they'd be casuals who don't play very often or obsessed with a certain game/genre but not actually very good at it.
And Freelancers would be more pro-players, like Wash did e-sports but he's not really into it, he's good, but he'd rather be having fun with friends than games-as-work.
Carolina's still chasing her father's approval and her mother's shadow by being the top of the gamer world, (her mother Allison was an e-sports superstar, and a top ranker in twenty MMORPGs).
Meanwhile, Director Church has created one of the worlds first full dive Virtual Reality MMOs, and he did it all while trying to figure out a way to un-vegetable his wife, who suffered brain death years ago when trying out another company's first attempts at full dive technology.
Director is convinced if he can just learn enough about brains in simulations, he can use the data that was saved from his wife's dives and put her back to rights.
So he created the game, and it's supposed to be the best game ever, incorporating all Allison's favourite things.
But there's a catch, in order for Director to get the data he needs, the game has to be running non-stop for A While. Specifically, the players need to be playing non-stop for A While.
So he's trapped them in the game with the threat of death looming over them.
There's probably something hidden in the T&Cs of the user agreement so everyone who logs on legally agrees to this shit, but no one reads the T&Cs, so they have no idea. They all genuinely believe they'll die in real life if they die in the game, and the only way to get out is to clear it. Like, even Carolina doesn't know.
The AI overlord Operating System of the game is FILSS/Sheila.
I was thinking (alpha) Church as Carolina's IRL brother who followed their dad into computer programming, but then it (the Chex) would be weird when the Allison Data that Director puts into the game develops its own personality (Beta). So maybe he's just part of the operating systems, on of several AIs running around low key maintaining the game and adding/manifesting new missions and materials based on their interactions with the users to ensure the game is meeting everyone's skill level.
He just sort of joins the Blues and pretends to be a human player.
Man I hope Director is paying the players to be there. He'd probably only pay minimum wage. Has a hospital set up for long term monitoring of players, and Aiden is going to have a field day with the research into what this kind of shit does to people's minds.
Lopez as a Bot that gains sapience/sentience.
It takes Griff months to find out his sister is in the game. (she "just wanted to spend time with him, but holy shit bro have you seen-")
Tucker accidentally hatches some kind of demon creature and tames it, it thinks Tucker is its mother. He names it Junior.
The Freelancers are the Front Line players, making the push towards clearing the game (possibly all of them were beta players for the game?), but somehow the Reds and Blues are actually some of the most powerful players even though they mostly just stand around talking, and getting into side-quest shenanigans.
Sarge is actually Simmons and Griff's shop teacher who is determined to look out for his students in the most tsundere way possible. Donut doesn't take shop class, he does home ec, but he knows them from Simmons' brief attempts at being on the school baseball team.
The Reds and Blues (minus Sarge) are all teenagers now, probably seniors, who go to the same school. (Wash is supposed to be in collage getting ready to graduate but e-sports got in the way, Carolina is younger than him but older than the Reds and Blues.)
Butch Flowers is the home ec teacher, (or/alos a computer science teacher) he and Sarge have a one sided rivalry that got passed onto their teams.
Tucker used to be on the baseball team, but he's currently suspended for reasons that probably weren't actually his fault, but no one knows what it actually is because Tucker like encouraging the rumours, since they're hilarious.
Caboose just wanted to make friends and have fun, and now the cool kids are hanging out with him and he made a Best Friend called Church and he doesn't have to go home at all!
Doc is either a first year medical student who doesn't have time for this!!! or Donut's boyfriend the others have never met because he goes to a different school.
Is the game sci-fi guns blazing or high fantasy swords and sorcery?
I don't know, irrelevant.
The reason Church is still bad at shooting things though is because as an AI he can make himself as powerful as he wants to be, and no-selling his shots is FILSS's way of smacking him with a rolled up news paper.

AC: Cut the shit. I can’t do this anymore.
MC: Please explain yourself, Number One. Frivolous calls are what is going to ruin the mission, combined with your insistence on sharing unneeded facts during your log records.
AC: You don’t read those, Grace does. She probably made some comment about it to you when she was serving you dinner. And I just told you, I can’t do this. I need you to get me someone or I’m going to walk outside into space without my fucking helmet on.
MC: Number One! There is no need for such crass language, please refrain from speaking towards me that way again
AC: Can you just shut up for one second and actually listen to me? Maybe there’s a reason that I’ve been including stupid shit like that in my logs.
MC: And what reason would that be, Number One?
AC: I’m not going to talk to you, not if you’re going to be like this.
MC: You’re the one that called me, Number One. Outside of the usual parameters and with such crass language, no less!
AC: Let me talk to [Viktor].
MC: Absolutely not.
AC: If I don’t get to talk to [Viktor] then I’m going to follow through with my threat. It would be super shitty if the youngest person to ever go to space ended up killing himself under the great Reginald Hagreeves’ care. I’ve been trained with all the space shit. Maybe I should just not patch the next oxygen leak that the control center gets.
MC: How soon do you need to speak with [him]?
AC: As soon as you can get [him].

Annihilation Control to Mission Control Correspondence - 6/6/18 13:00-14:06
AC: What do you want?
MC: Uh, hello?
AC: Oh. Hello.
MC: Is this Luther? I’m sorry, I don’t know how this works and no one will explain it to me.
AC: That’s okay [Viktor] I don’t expect you to know how this works. Truth be told, I thought that this was a call from Dad to see if I had actually followed through. I wasn’t expecting him to be able to get to you like I wanted him to.
MC: Well he did. It was kind of a surprise for me too. I mean, you had never shown an interest in wanting to talk to me before.
AC: Back when I was at home?
MC: Back when all of us were at home. It always seemed like you liked Allison better than the rest of us.
AC: How is she? Allison?
MC: What was the last thing that you heard about her?
AC: The last thing that I heard about her was when I was back on earth. I used to get newspapers so that I could keep up to date with current events, but they stopped coming after the first year up here.
MC: Wait, you haven’t had anything new to read in three years?
AC: Two, but yes.
MC: What have you been doing to keep yourself occupied, then?
AC: What do you care, [Viktor]?
MC: You’re the one that wanted to call me, Luther. If you didn’t really want to talk to me then you should have asked Dad for Allison. And if you just wanted someone to argue with then you should have asked for Diego. I don’t know why you chose me out of all of our siblings, but I have my own life and job that I am currently missing out on to talk to you. So if you’re not going to be nice to me then I’m not going to talk to you.
AC: Wait, [Viktor]. I’m sorry that I snapped at you. I think it’s harder for me to interact with people outside of the standard conversations that Dad and I have when he calls every week to make sure that I’m still handling the maintenance of the shuttle well enough. I just mentioned that I hadn’t had anything to do while up here, didn’t I?
MC: You did, but that doesn’t give you an excuse to be an asshole.
AC: You’re right, I’m sorry.
MC: It’s okay. But I do think that you owe me an explanation for why you picked me out of all of our siblings.
AC: Well, I knew that Klaus has probably gotten into something more than what he was into when we were teenagers so it didn’t feel particularly safe to call him. We still don’t know where Five is and he would end up arguing with me far faster than Diego would. When Diego left, a little while after dad sent you away to college, he said that he wouldn’t step back into the house until Dad was dead. I didn’t think that it was worth it to even ask for him when he was so against it like that, I guess.
MC: What about Allison?
AC: Can you tell me about her?
MC: Not until you tell me why you picked me instead of her. I think that if she knew that you had made that choice when she would skin me alive.
AC: She would never do that!
MC: She threatened to literally the entire year that we were fourteen. I think that she very much would.
AC: I forgot about that.
MC: It’s okay. I like hearing you laugh.
AC: Oh, thank you.
MC: Now tell me why you didn’t demand that Dad bring Allison to stave off your loneliness.
AC: Well, the last that I was able to hear about her was that she was dating somebody new. She’s been dating a lot of people since I last saw her and she moved out to LA. It kind of hurt. You know, I caught her before she left. I caught almost everyone before they left for the last time, other than you.
MC: Did you catch Five?
AC: I thought that you wanted to hear my story about Allison.
MC: Right, sorry.
AC: Anyway, as I was saying. I caught her before she had the chance to leave and she told me what she was doing. When we were younger, we used to sneak back to our secret greenhouse the same way that you and Five would sneak to the music room. We talked for hours sometimes, but then she would also bring the Shakespear books that Mom forced us to read when we were supposed to be studying the classics. She would pick a main character that she wanted to play and then make me read the other lines so that she could practice. I wasn’t that shocked when she said that she wanted to go and be an actress in LA. I was really sad to see her go, but I knew that I couldn’t hold her back if I really loved her.
MC: That’s what they say in all of the songs, isn’t it?
AC: Yeah, I guess so. I haven’t gotten a new record in a really long time.
MC: I’ll see if I can get Mom to convince Dad to send you some of my favorites, if you’d like.
AC: I would… I would like that [Viktor]. Do you want to hear the rest of the story?
MC: Yeah, sorry for interrupting so much.
AC: No, it’s fine. If I only wanted to talk to myself then I wouldn’t have demanded that Dad find me someone. But, um, anyway. I let Allison go after she promised that she was going to write me so that I could keep up to date with her. She landed a main role in the first movie that she auditioned for, which I’m guessing that she might have used her powers for. I don’t like doubting that she has the ability to get it on her own merit, but I know that she didn’t like to do the hard work that the rest of us had to do. After that, the letters just stopped coming. The only way that I could figure out what was happening to her was through the tabloids and articles written about her.
MC: Me too.
AC: I guess after that I just figured that she didn’t want anything to do with me so I didn’t even try to contact her. I sent a few letters here and there when something big happened to her or I was able to sneak one of her movies into the Academy, but I never got anything back.
MC: So you two grew apart? I’ve heard that can happen to people who grew up together.
AC: I guess that kind of happened with us too, didn’t it?
MC: The difference is, we thought that you two were in love with each other. No one liked me so there was no doubt in my mind that none of you would ever reach out to me. Not since Five left when we were thirteen.
AC: I’m sorry, [Viktor].
MC: It’s okay, it’s not like it was just you.
AC: I… I suppose that’s true. I didn’t want to pick Allison because I don’t think that she would have responded to Dad’s call, and I can’t go another week without having something to look forward to.
MC: I’ll come back every week and talk to you then.
AC: I don’t want you to feel like you have to. One time was enough to keep me going for a while longer. Hopefully I’ll be able to actually come home soon.
MC: I hope so too. I have to go now, I really can’t stop putting off my work.
AC: I’ll hear from you in a week then.
MC: Mm hmm. I’ll get Dad to send you some more things to keep your mind busy too. You’re too intelligent to just be left up there twiddling your thumbs, Luther.

Annihilation Control to Mission Control Correspondence - 8/14/18 22:00-22:54
MC: Hello? Is someone there?
AC: I’m here, like I always am. Though apparently you’re not.
MC: I’m sorry, Luther. I really did try to make it on time. I’ve been having some trouble getting to and from the concerts that I’ve been doing in the past month and I missed the bus. When I actually got here, Dad said that you would be busy doing whatever mission he sent you up there for and that I couldn’t call you. I’m so sorry.
AC: [Viktor], I didn’t mean that. I’m sorry that I was so snappish. I should have figured that it had something to do with Dad.
MC: Is he still being as difficult as he was before?
AC: You’re actually dealing with him in person, you tell me.
MC: I was kind of hoping that he was going to be nicer to you when he called you. Mom said that he was sending you the records and books that I brought last month.
AC: He did, but the conversations that we have whenever I call back for my checks are awful. I guess I was kind of scared that he wasn’t going to let you call me anymore because you’re changing me.
MC: I’m changing you? According to you or according to him?
AC: According to us both. He mentioned it last week when I was asking where you were after you didn’t call me. I had some time to think about it while doing my missions because of how fucking monotonous they are. And he was right.
MC: Oh? Do tell.
AC: Well, you’ve made me actually think about the way that I treated you back when we were kids. It wasn’t right, and it was all his fault. That was the reason that I treated Diego like shit too.
MC: What do you mean?
AC: Do you remember back when we were training together, before Dad made you stop watching us and spend more time with Mom?
MC: Of course I do.
AC: Well after you left he started doing a lot more of what he had been doing before. He would tell Diego that he needed to try harder if he even wanted to be my shadow. It made me have this idea that Diego and the rest of the team was so far beneath me that none of them were ever going to have any kind of right to lead. I think that it might have been the reason that Ben died.
MC: What… what do you mean by that?
AC: I’m sorry, I know that’s a lot for you to handle. We never did tell you what happened during the Jennifer Incident, did we?
MC: You didn’t. I asked over and over again and no one would ever tell me.
AC: Well… It was kind of hard for us to think about because part of it was our fault. Ben wasn’t good at controlling the Horror because he was scared of it. That only got worse as we got older, probably because he had been seeing what kind of things it could do at that point, and we understood the permanence of death. Dad made sure that we didn’t think too hard about what we did on missions when we were younger than that. Uh, anyway. We were on a mission for Dad, like we almost always were. Then things started going south, I don’t remember all of the details. We were trying to save someone, I know that. I think that Ben had been sneaking out with Klaus to try and watch him but had ended up meeting someone named Jennifer.
MC: How do you know that?
AC: We were able to drag some of it out of Klaus when we brought his body back to the house. But anyway, she turned out to be at the building that the hostages were in. Ben went totally out of control, the Horror was feeding on his fear and using it to control him entirely. It turned on him and ripped him to shreds.
MC: I guess I can understand why you all never told me that. I’m not sure that I would have been able to handle it on the little bit of meds that I was on. I can kind of process anything on the higher dose that Dad put me on when I went to college.
AC: I was meaning to ask you about those. When I was thinking about all of the horrible decisions that Dad made for the team, I kept thinking about why he kept you around.
MC: Wow, thank you, Luther.
AC: I mean, it’s not like he cared for any of us. He didn’t keep you around because he loved you, there has to be some other reason. Then I kept thinking about the meds. Why would Dad want to have a sickly child with no powers? You wouldn’t have shared any secrets about him if he had sent you away because he was very open about his training methods. At least, the ones that you were around to see.
MC: I guess he did always kind of treat me like an in between of the outside world and the inside one that he made.
AC: Exactly. So why does he have you on the medication? Viktor? Are you still there?
MC: Yeah, sorry, I think I just remembered something. Do you remember when I was four and Dad took me away?
AC: He said that you were sick. The only person that got to see you was Allison and she got in trouble for talking about it when you came back.
MC: I’m beginning to think that I wasn’t really sick. I think I’m going to start looking for another doctor so that they can wean me off of these meds healthily. Then we’ll see what’s really going on.
---
Annihilation Control to Mission Control Correspondence - 10/10/18 7:34-8:21
MC: Hello? Luther?
AC: [Viktor]? This isn’t the time that you usually call. Is everything okay?
MC: It’s more than okay! I have so much to tell you, so I need you to promise to wait until I tell you that I’ve finished before you start talking to me.
AC: Okay, I will.
MC: Promise?
AC: Promise.
MC: So I found another doctor, one that was outside of my insurance. It ended up being more okay than I thought it would be, doctor’s appointments without tests are inexpensive enough that I was able to manage it with the savings from my book deal. I convinced them that I didn’t want to be on the medication anymore and they helped wean me off. I started to notice some really interesting things after I stopped taking it, though.
AC: What kind of things?
MC: Luther!
AC: Right, shit, sorry.
MC: Anyways! As I was saying, I started noticing things. I thought that it was just a coincidence at first because my entire life I have thought that there was nothing special about me and never could be, but there is! At first it was things like raining when I was feeling upset about something, but then glass started breaking when I would get scared or have a panic attack. And Luther, I can hear way better than I did before. There are all these extra sounds that I had no idea existed before today. I was able to use it to sneak into the house and I found that little red book that Dad used to keep all of our training missions in. It turns out that I did have powers but they were really volatile, so Dad decided that he as going to lock them away instead of just manning up so that he could train me better. He also had Allison trick me into thinking that I was ordinary, which I think that we can both tell has had no lasting effects on my psyche at all.
AC: Is that sarcasm?
MC: Yes, Luther, it’s sarcasm.
AC: I like the way that your laugh sounds now. Not that it didn’t sound good before, but you actually sound happy now. Before it sounded like you were just kind of going through the motions.
MC: That’s because I was. The medication that I was on was a sedative because my powers are linked to my emotions. But I’m an adult now, so I can watch and handle them.
AC: Wow. It’s kind of hard to wrap my head around the fact that this is all real. I mean, that’s probably what Dad wanted in the first place, which was why he cemented the idea of you being different and ordinary in us throughout our entire childhood. What are you going to do now that you know you have powers?
MC: I’m going to get Dad to bring you home.
AC: You… you are?
MC: Of course, Luther. I want you to be able to be here to teach me how to shave when I get on hormones.
AC: Shave? [Viktor], I think you skipped a detail or two.
MC: Shit. Right. I was so excited to tell you about the fact that I had powers that I forgot to tell you about the other thing. It turns out that I’m a boy. I never had the chance to think about the things that would make me happy or who I was because of the Rumor and the medication. But now both have been broken over me and I know who I am. Is that okay?
AC: Screw shaving! I mean, I will still do that for you if you want me to, but I want to throw you a fucking party! This is amazing, you’re actually discovering things about yourself, just like me! We’ve officially broken the hold that the stupid old man had on us.
MC: I guess we have. Do you want to know the name that I picked out for myself?
AC: Of course I do. I want all of the details that you’re willing to give me.
MC: Viktor. My new name is Viktor.
---
Annihilation Control to Mission Control Correspondence - 12/1/18 7:00-8:16
MC: Luther? Come in, Luther.
AC: You don’t have to talk like you’re actually Mission Control, Viktor. We’ve never done that with each other before.
MC: I thought that I would try it out, since I’m in charge of your mission now.
AC: You are? When did that happen?
MC: Pretty much immediately after I finished my last call with you. I know that I haven’t contacted you in a while, it took me a lot of time to figure out how to do what I wanted to.
AC: And what do you want to do with me?
MC: I’m bringing you home. The return rocket has left earth’s orbit and is going to be picking you up when it gets to the moon.
AC: Are you serious?
MC: I wouldn’t joke about something like this, Luther. I know everything that Dad did to you and it was so wrong. He had no right to turn your body into something that you didn’t recognize and then hide you in a base on the moon. I’m bringing you home and then you and I are going to figure out how we can have a real life, the kind that you wanted with Allison and I wanted with Five. Luther? You still there?
AC: If Five comes back will you leave me for him?
MC: I don’t see why I can’t have you both.
AC: I guess I should wait until I’m back on earth so that I can talk to you about this, but I’m worried that I’ll chicken out if I have to do it to your face. God, I don’t even know what you look like anymore.
MC: About the same as when my book came out, but my hair is short now. What is this about, Luther?
AC: When we had our first call, you asked me why I picked you out of all of our siblings. I never answered your question properly. The reason that I picked you out of all of our siblings was because you were the most kind. You also know what it’s like to be completely isolated from everything. I’m so, so sorry that we did that to you, Viktor. We were supposed to be your siblings, your family. More importantly, back then we were also supposed to be heroes. We were supposed to take care of people, that was quite literally in our job descriptions. But I think that the only thing that we actually ended up doing was killing whoever our father pointed us towards. We didn’t protect you, we didn’t protect other people, we didn’t protect Ben. You’re kind and wonderful and so heartfelt. I love you, Viktor.
MC: I love you too. Get home to me safe, okay?
AC: Okay.

This has probably already been talked about but uh...did Joey enable Sammy's addiction/start it/use him as his hit man?
The canonocity (is that a word idek) of the books is in question but these two passages after re-reads are fucking with my head
First.
Tumblr media
*to please Joey drew* the guy was obviously several crayons short of a box but the intonation sounds *pissed*.
Then you apply this
Tumblr media
Joey wtf if you knew Sammy was going bananas in pajamas why didn't you say anything? GENT implies active experimentation but they were collecting subjects and presumably running test groups based on the 'I get paid to be here' log from BATDR.
So either Joey saw an opportunity (likely) or given that intonation and very specific focus on Joey and not Bendy, he used Sammy to fish for victims.
Again the book canon is sus thanks to BATDR and the books also seem to hint at it with Buddy saying *not all of it is true*. It doesn't excuse Sammy remotely. If Joey knew tho and the guy went to him even as a last resort Holy shit the man supervised his music director turning into a gooey mess and his religion and tried to use him as a hit man.
This makes me wonder about Susie too because it's very clear she believed Joey. Susie and Sammy are - at least to me - foils for Tom and Allison. They chose work as opposed to Tom and Allison who chose each other.
There's another note (was it in the paper?) Where Sammy's like 'Some people just can't cut it in this business. They're sheep." And I'm going ok did he have something to do with Susie going poof? What happened to him was clearly an accident but did he know the shit was bad...go to Joey when he realized he couldn't handle it and Joey used him to collect people?
Interested to hear thoughts.

Hey hey!
I'm sorry for this weird question but can you please say how you'd describe Henry Stein (Batim) personality wise? /gen
I have hard time understanding personalities
And because of this,i don't know what to say about him outside of him being animator/Joey's ex business partner and Linda's husband.
I know about all bendy content (read and played by myself)
I can note that Buddy has strong sense of justice and i can note that Audrey is disorganized based on her desk from prologue being a total mess.
But i struggle with Henry really badly. It's feels like a huge shame
oh my gosh dont feel bad at all!! henry, despite being who we play as, doesn't really have that strong of a personality.
based on the games, he seems like a very resolute man. i mean, walking around the same studio for endless loops has got to be tiring. he just seems like a guy who when he has a job will get it done however long it takes. probably patient as well, going off of that.
he also seems very friendly, not in a particularly outgoing way, but just that he seems like he gets along with people easily. like with buddy, and allison and tom, even though they held him prisoner for a while. easygoing, i guess.
i'd also say he's full of hope. maybe not as much as some of the other characters, but enough to not completely give up when hes captured by the keepers. he keeps on thinking about the end reel, and even tells audrey about it when she talks to him
he's creative, we can see that through his love of drawing, and intuitive, shown throughout BatIM's gameplay. he's got a bit of humor, a little dry, but its there in some of his dialogue/golden ink messages. and of course, he's resentful towards joey (but he doesnt seem to show much anger, at least outwardly), with some of his golden ink messages and especially his audio log from BatIM. he's frustrated, but he seems to be keeping it to himself.
i haven't read the books so im probably missing a few things from there, my bad.
overall, i'd say hes a mildly boring, pretty average guy in most aspects. and boring isnt a bad thing! he just doesn't have a very strong personality, which is perfectly ok. he just doesnt really show much emotion or what he's thinking.
i love henry, he's one of my favorite old men.

Want You Bad - Day 7
This is part of a series for #sterekvalentineweek - I would suggest reading them in order.
What you can generally expect - hilarity, chaos, mishaps, slow burn, strong language, and vague descriptions of some minor criminal activity.
I hope you have as much fun on this adventure as I did!
Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4 Day 5 Day 6
As was usual, Stiles and Kira were having lunch at the station with Stiles’ father. It had been a relatively calm week, and the Friday lunch seemed like a good way to celebrate the lack of dumpster fires, disasters, general chaos, or major arrests or accidents. Stiles was especially proud of the last part, considering the previous week’s rosebush debacle. He still hadn’t quite forgiven Jackson for that one.
Of course, just as Stiles was thinking that things were going well, Derek and Jordan came into the station, both of them carting a person with them. By the way the people - a man and a woman - were stumbling, it looked like they were both heavily intoxicated. Which was impressive for 11:30 in the morning on a Friday.
“Deputy Hale?” Noah called, getting up from his office chair and walking towards Derek’s desk.
“We got a call from Chris down at Arrowhead. Allison was having some issues with a couple of customers who didn’t take kindly to being cut off. At eleven in the morning.”
“Dude, you’re ruining the honeymoon!” the man lamented as he was being forcibly sat in the chair beside Derek’s desk.
“Yeah! We were - hic - celebrating!” the woman chimed in from Jordan’s desk.
Stiles took a closer look at the man, and then frantically grabbed for his phone from the front pocket of his jeans. With quick fingers, he logged into the encrypted cloud that kept his casefiles and pertinent business documents, scrolling until he found what he was looking for.
“Kira. Kira, it’s him,” he said, flailing his hand out to get her attention. When she finally looked, he showed her his phone.
“Oh. Oh my god,” she exclaimed, grabbing onto Stiles’ arm with sheer excitement.
“Son?” Noah gave him a quizzical glance.
“Remember that case I was telling you about? The one I was working on with a few other investigators up north?”
“Yes. What does that have to do with this?”
“Well. Deputy Hale here just arrested the guy.”
“Did he now.” Stiles grinned, watching the guy look between them all, confusion written all over his face.
“Oh yeah. This is gonna be my major payday!”
“You want to start explaining what the hell you’re taling about, Stiles?” Derke asked testily.
“Gladly! This dickhead is currently married to six other women - oh yeah buddy, we are absolutely bringing you back to Oregon to face that down - and I was asked by some connections of mine to keep an eye out, as they heard he might have been headed this way. And what do you know! He choose our sweet little town to marry wife number seven!”
Stiles was on a roll. Which was the only explanation for what came out of his mouth next. “And actually, if this guy can get away with being married to seven women - which you so did not, ya dickhead - then I can absolutely ask Derek Hale out on a date!” The resulting silence was when Stiles realized what he’d said out loud.
Derek shrugged, looking pleased. “Sure. I’ll pick you up at seven.”
“Oh my god, I did not mean- wait. What?”
“Stiles. You have not been subtle. At all. I’ve been waiting for you to just grow a pair and ask me out.”
“I. You. Huh?” Stiles blinked a few times. This could not be happening.
“Wait. Does this mean Erica wins the pot?” Kira piped up, still clutching at Stiles.
“What pot?” he asked her, turning his head towards her so abruptly even Jordan could hear his neck crack from across the station.
“Oh, we had a bet on how long it would take you to ask Derek out.”
“Peter actually bet that Derek would have to make the first move,” Noah said, smirking slightly.
“What the fuck,” Stiles muttered.
“Language!” Kira, Noah, Jordan, and Derek said in unison.
“Okay! First of all, betting on my love life was low!” Stiles shot everyone in the room a small glare. “Second of all, if there was ever a situation in which I could use strong fucking language, this is fucking it.” Then he turned to Derek, and flailed a hand at him. “And third! You! You knew, this whole time, that I have wanted you, and you let me make a fool of myself?” Derek shrugged again.
“I knew you’d get your shit together eventually.”
“Okay, one, rude. Two, get over here and kiss me right now before I reconsider.” Derek did not need to be told twice before doing exactly as Stiles told him to.
