Rubbermaid & Web-Boy | P.P.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You're the Black Cat, and you find out the face behind another masked vigilante is more familiar than you ever expected — peter x fem!reader sexual tension
warnings: some adult language
words: 0.9k
a/n: this is so self-indulgent omg I literally just wanted to experience some sexual tension with Andrew Garfield
Tumblr media
The cool night breeze swept through your neatly tied white hair as you walked carefully along the banister of a roof above an abandoned building.
Being a hero is boring, you thought to yourself as you pretended to topple on the railing, the tight material of your suit making a small noise.
Perfectly timed, you heard a police siren in the distance. Looking towards the sound, you located the source, seeing the bright red and blue coming from a cop car.
As you were running towards the sound of sirens, you heard a noise behind you, something like a thwip followed by a whoosh, but you elected to ignore it and focus on the criminal activity a few blocks over. You heard it again a few moments later. As much as you wanted to ignore it again, it was an odd noise you knew couldn't be normal.
You wanted to investigate those strange sounds, but before you could even turn around, you felt yourself being pulled against the wall, but it didn't feel like a person of any sort was doing it.
You looked down at your wrist and saw that it was stuck to a wall, being tied back by a web of some sort. You couldn't pull your hand off of the coarse brick wall, no matter how hard you tried. You looked up from your hand to find a sleek silhouette, dressed in blue and red spandex. You presumed that he was the one to do that to you, and you justifiably got angry.
"What the fuck?! Let me go!" You said, slightly louder than you had expected.
"(y/n)?" The masked figure said in shock.
You maintained the tone when you recognized the voice as one of your friends and asked "Peter?"
He froze in his tracks when he realized that he had just revealed his identity to you. "No." He said sheepishly.
It had taken a second, but you had just realized that he was the so-called 'masked menace' that you had seen pictures and videos of all over the internet and the news. That was your best friend, and he had never told you. But to be fair, you had never told him that you had adopted a vigilante alter ego that you had never told him about either.
"Peter, I know what your voice sounds like." You told him. "You're the Web-Boy?"
"Spider-Man, actually. And you're the, what, Rubbermaid?" He said, gesturing to your black suit that you had put together yourself.
You let out a sarcastic laugh. "Very funny, I know the suit's a little rubber-like, but I'm the Black Cat."
"I've never heard of you." He said. You wondered if he was jealous that there was another hero around Queens.
"Maybe because I'm just better at this and don't have pictures of me scattered across every news station in New York."
"Or maybe you're worse, and you just don't do anything newsworthy."
Now you knew he was jealous of you.
"Excuse you, Parker." You retorted. "Just this week, I've saved a life, stopped five crimes, and even tied a burglar up and left him on the steps of the police station!"
 "Impressive. I've done twice that."
"Asshole." You spat, attempting to move your hand off the wall again.
"I thought you were a criminal!" He defended. "You're the one wearing an all black outfit and a burglar mask!"
You were repulsed by the idea of being considered a villain, as you stood for justice and goodness. But if you were going to be honest, the idea intrigued you a little.
"No, but I might become one if you don't let me go."
He laughed and took off his costume mask. You saw his face and could confirm that it was in fact, your best friend Peter Parker behind the webslinger suit the whole time.
"You don't want to stay here and hang out with me?" He asked in a half-joke tone. “Wow, everything changes when you put on the superhero suit.”
You didn't laugh or say anything back. Instead, you responded by looking at him displeased and then gesturing with your head to your arm stuck being raised next to you.
"Alright, alright, I'll let you go."
He pulled out a small blade from the black spider on his chest and cut the white strings so to let your hand free.
"What? No, 'thank you'?" Peter asked after he let you go.
You started to walk away, then walked back to Peter just for a second, long enough for you to throw a quick punch.
"That's for gluing me to the wall with your webs." You said sassily, then calmed your tone. "Now, don't ever do that again, or I swear I'll do as I promised before and just become a villain to take you down."
He started rubbing his upper arm where you had hit him to soothe it.
You continued to walk away, but before you could even get off the roof, you heard him call you. "I'll see you in school, (y/n)!"

let’s talk about sophie devereaux for a minute.
it’s the cross my heart job (lev 4x09) and sophie undoes her ponytail, drops her blazer, shimmies down her slacks to reveal a short dress (or long tunic), and swaps her black flats for red heels. she has changed her entire look in a matter of moments.
and I just. i love this for her. she tells eliot I always travel with heels. when what she means is I’m always ready for a costume change.
her knoweldge of fashion and trends would have to be as extensive as her knowledge of art. and there’s psychology at work there to—the difference between the femme fatale or the girl friday or the nerdy scientist. when and how to use those personas. but most importantly—how to embody those personas. heels or a badge or a pair of glasses.
so my headcanon is that sophie carries a few essential accessories wherever she goes. a scarf—around her neck or in her hair or tied to her bag. a large hairpin or ponytail for easy updoes. the perfect shade of red lipstick. expensive makeup wipes.
and a pair of heels.
sometimes she rotates items. maybe some extra jewelry, instant dry nailpolish, a hat, tights. the trick is to pack light. have multiple uses per item. dresses can become shirts or tunics. a necklace can be wrapped as bracelets. lipstick can be worn as rouge. a scarf can become a belt.
but sophie also has class. she likes the finer things in life. so her spare earrings might be 24 carat or diamonds. her scarf silk. her handbag the latest designer. she also invests in custom pieces—blazers with hidden pockets. reversible coats. convertible heels.
and yet. the greatest of sophie’s costumes have always been on-the-fly. someone’s glasses, a swiped labcoat, a briefcase. hair up, down, or covered. sunglasses, glasses, or contacts. which means she constantly scoping out everyone else’s clothes. what’s easy to nab. what’s been left unattended. who can I be with those pieces?
she deserves more credit. it’s not like it’s easy work. because she’s not just creating a wardrobe for herself—she’s decking out the whole team. and that means knowing their measurements. what cuts and fabrics are best for their respective roles. eliot and parker need room to move. hardison needs pockets for his gadgets.
and then of course, there’s the question of what clothes the team can share. parker and eliot are around the same height so they often swap coveralls—a pair that’s slightly too small on eliot will be just slightly too big on parker. for when eliot needs to be noticed and parker does not.
on that same vein, hardison and eliot have similar upper body builds. hardison likes to make the fbi or csi or tech coats (it’s just iron-on letters on bulk supply jackets) but sophie’s the one that knows which jackets the two men can swap. which roles they can both play during a con.
even parker and hardison have some overlap. parker has an uncanny ability to blend in with a crowd. throw one of hardison’s caps or hoodies on her and she just disappears.
and then of course there’s parker with herself. despite being the only women on the team they don’t share that many clothes. parker can slip into one of her spare dresses when needed. but their roles are often on opposite ends of the spectrum—sophie is supposed to be noticed. parker is not.
all of these variables are turning in sophie’s head at any given point in the con. she finds clothes that fit with standard personas, clothes that can overlap, and specialized clothes for their many aliases. but also...clothes that fit them.
because there are some codes you can’t switch. eliot’s aways a bit country—regardless if he’s a construction worker or a millionaire. parker can do high femme, but androgyny suits her better. and tho parker’s comfortable showing skin, she’s not with showing cleavage. of being sexualized. and then there’s hardison and his shoes. sophie will admit she didn’t know much about sneakers, but hardison was all to happy to infodump about them. so now she has a special collection just for him.
and then there’s nate. the bane of her fashionable existence. she’s given up on dressing him. his repeated choice of cartoonish bufoons (with hat) inexplicably seems to work. don’t ask her how or why because it defies all logic. she’s just happy when he starts wearing his day-to-day suits pressed and his shirts laundered.
anyhow. just sophie being sophie. a badass chameleon. who knows the difference between buttons and cufflinks. who can tell you when it is and isn’t appropriate to wear a hat. who can tell how much money you make by what watch you wear. who can spot a fake purse a mile away. who’s just a bit more than scary good at what she does.
which is read you for filth the instant she lays eyes on you. and then becomes anyone she wants to be.

little hacker
avengers x fem!teen!reader
characters: brief clint barton, tony stark, steve rogers, natasha romanoff, peter parker
summary: you hacked into tony's systems and he, along with the team, track you down.
warnings: mentions of death and a car crash, hacking written by someone who has no idea how it works
word count: 3241
note: hi um this is my first oneshot on tumblr i hope you like it!!
you were 14 when you first met the avengers. your family had gotten into a tragic car accident and you were the only one who made it out alive, leaving you in excessive guilt and burden; guilt because you were the only one granted a second chance at life and burden because you had to live your life, barely scraping by as you were dropped the responsibility of taking care of your sick grandmother.
at 11, where all that the kids your age had to worry about was whether their pocket money was enough to get themselves an after-school snack, you worried whether or not the money left to your name was enough to survive.
at 11, where girls worried about their changing bodies and asked their mothers about it, you had to figure it all out yourself and with the help of your trusty laptop, the only gadget you had, one that your dad had gifted to you after you had gotten 100s for all your tests at age 8. he thought you were his little prodigy and figured a laptop would treat you well. you took care of it well because while you didn't want to spend the last of your money left, —that was specifically set aside for your grandmother's hospital bills— you wanted to hold on to the laptop for as long as you could, as a reminder of your loving father, as well as the memories the item held, after you've watched movies with pretty much all of your passed family members on that laptop at different points in your life. that was why whenever the thing lagged due to how much you've been using it, you almost always figure out how to fix it until it was good as new.
at 12, while your classmates had their parents to protect them when they were out at night, you feared for your life whenever you were out past dark. which led you to learning self defence from youtube videos. you learned them pretty quickly and with your sharp-wittedness, you no longer feared to be out at night. you even had the honours of trying out your skills when some men thought they could get you just because you were smaller than them.
at 12, where kids your age were having fun, enjoying their childhood, you had no choice but to be mature and think for the good of yourself and your sick grandmother. you were forced to grow up and you were probably more mature and intelligent than the rest of your classmates combined.
and at 13, you realised that money wasn't going to grow on trees and the money you were left with wasn't going to last forever. it had to last until you were old enough to work. but with your grandmother's condition getting worse and worse, you were forced to drop out of school. you were upset because you loved it. you loved knowledge. but family came first and the only thing that your knowledge increased on was on computers.
which led to you being able to hack into tony stark's bank account at only 14. you had no other choice than to steal money and who better to steal it from than a guy whose pocket change could probably last you another five years or so? you knew who tony stark was, the whole world knows who he is. and you thought that maybe he would be too preoccupied with his alter ego saving the whole world, along with his group of earth's mightiest heroes that he wouldn't notice the tiny bit of money you'd stolen from him.
of course the billionaire had been alerted immediately by his AI when you'd accessed into his systems. "security breach?" he exclaimed, immediately dropping the tool he was tinkering his suit with in his lab.
he spent about 3 minutes, that was how long you took touring around in his systems, observing what you did in it. he watched as you did nothing about the highly confidential information he had and instead, stole....5 grand from his bank account? that was barely a scratch to his account. what was going on?
he had requested FRIDAY to track down the hacker, mainly because he was perplexed that someone had hacked into his well protected system just to steal a tiny bit of money but it seems that even FRIDAY couldn't track down where it came from.
he told the team and it was then that everyone worried how dangerous the hacker could possibly be.
"who steals just 5 grand after hacking into a billionaire's bank account?" clint frowned after tony had explained the whole situation. "i mean, if i managed to hack into your systems, i'd do way more than just steal a couple bucks."
"exactly. and who knows? they might just be waiting for the right moment to install dangerous malware into the system and until we find the culprit, they're roaming somewhere out there with all our confidential information right at the tip of their fingers. if they decide to use it against us..." tony trailed off, for once having a worried expression on his otherwise nonchalant face. he's never been this clueless about what to do with any sort of technical issues concerning the avengers or himself.
you on the other hand, after getting complacent that you weren't caught, kept doing so for the next couple months or so. you had no ill intentions, just trying to scrape by. the whole situation puzzled tony. he didn't care how much you've taken from him in total now, you were right; it was merely pocket change to him. but you were still considered a threat since you had free access to his systems and he didn't even know who you were or where you were.
that was until you made a tiny mistake, one that if tony wasn't spending every waking moment trying to track you down he wouldn't have noticed. and though it was a small mistake, it certainly was going to change how things ran from then on.
that afternoon, after having just gotten back from visiting your grandmother at the hospital, you were planning to get more money from the billionaire's bank account at the comfort of your own home. god, hospital bills were expensive. once you had had a little snack, you settled down on the couch and opened your laptop. but being the quick-witted person you were, before the screen in front of you lit up, you saw movement from behind you.
your heart raced. you could handle fighting people but those usually happened in alleys at nighttime. this was in your home, your safe place. you made sure to lock the doors and there weren't fire escapes outside your windows so how did the intruder get in?
you could tell they were trying to be inconspicuous to get to you and so you let them. you let the person think that they were going to get you without a fight but when they were right behind you, you swiftly turned your body around and jumped over the couch. the masked intruder let out a surprised yelp and the two of you fought for a bit. before you knew it, you had them pinned under you in just ten seconds.
"wha– how– what?" it sounded like a boy. you looked down at him and noticed his red and blue spandex suit. you frowned. wasn't this the friendly neighbourhood spiderman guy or something? why was a superhero breaking into your home?
he was coughing from your knee pressing down onto his chest and you lifted it slightly, enough for him to breathe but not enough to escape. he seemed grateful though because he muttered a seemingly embarrassed 'thanks'.
"get off the kid or i'll blast you off of him myself."
you look up and saw the iron man repulsor aimed right at you, and obviously iron man himself was standing right there in the middle of your small apartment. behind him stood a redhead, who you knew as the black widow, aiming a pistol at you, and a man with a shield, captain america. the spiderboy must've come in through the window and unlocked the door for them.
when you made eye contact with steve, he frowned in confusion. you looked way too young to be the culprit they had expected. he muttered a quiet 'wait, what?' before tony stark revealed himself, his iron man faceplate opening.
"um...kid? where are your parents? or guardian? we need to see them because there's been some highly illegal activity coming from this address." the man in the suit spoke. you stayed still, knee still pressing against the boy under you, frowning at the adults in the room. they noticed your apprehensiveness and slowly lowered their weapons. "we're not here to hurt you, you can release the boy now," steve told you gently.
you usually weren't one to trust easily but since these people were known superheroes, you reluctantly stood up, still anxious of the possibilities of what they could do to you. the spiderboy got up too and dusted his back, before going to stand next to steve. you were confused as to why these heroes were breaking in your home until you remembered what you had been up to for the past weeks. how could you forget when that was the only reason you were still surviving?
your eyes widened with fear when they met tony's soft ones. he looked at you with such care and worry that you were reminded of your late dad. the man in front of you wasn't the arrogant man you've watched on youtube. you felt bad for stealing from him now. you used to think that he deserved it, despite how little you took compared to how much he had. the man knelt down before you so he didn't appear so big in front of you, seeing your frightened expression. little did he know you were frightened for a totally different reason.
"anyone else living here, kid? because i tracked down this address and someone has been stealing money from me. i might need to have a little talk with them." he explained, looking around the house. you fiddled with the hem of your shirt nervously, scared of what would come once you came clean about your actions. you were scared you were going to be taken in for juvenile crime but you were also scared of the consequences of lying straight to their faces. so you took a deep breath before deciding to just tell the truth.
"t–that would be me, sir." you admitted in a small voice, avoiding eye contact with the billionaire you had been stealing from. a few shocked looks from the team and an incredulous 'what?' from tony had you biting the inside of your cheeks in fear.
"i'm truly sorry about that, sir. i..." you trailed off, debating whether or not to justify your actions because you thought that he might not even want to listen to it. "i had to pay off my grandmother's hospital bills because she is very sick. my family died a few years ago in a car crash and i was the only one who made it. i was left some money to my name but having to survive on that along with paying off nana's bills, it was bound to run out. i...i thought that since you were a billionaire, stealing a few thousands wouldn't matter to you...i'm so sorry, sir. i– i'll start working to pay you back.." you stuttered out, holding your hands together so it would minimise the shaking.
tony's mouth opened and closed, like fish out of water, not knowing what to say to you. he stood up and you were on the verge of breaking down right then and there, feeling as small as you did before he knelt before you. "p–please don't report me, sir. i– i don't know what would happen to my nana if you do.. i swear to you that i didn't mess with your other files. i only accessed the system for your bank account and that was it. i have no ill intentions, please don't report me.." you were now the one kneeling down in front of him, begging.
the team were flabbergasted at the scene unfolding before them and tony was quick to get you off your knees, which scared you even more because the death grip of his metal hands on your forearms had your mind running wild at the millions of possibilities of what he would do to you. was he going to kill you and leave you somewhere that people were never going to find your body? or was he going to dispose of you and use his power to remove you permanently from the system so no one came looking for you? he had the power to ruin your life and you feared that.
snapping you out of your mental breakdown, he spoke softly. "hey, it's okay." and that was when you realised the 'death grip' he had on your forearms had only been your paranoia getting the best of you. he was barely even touching you. your teary eyes looked up at his soft, brown ones in fear.
then he smiled at you.
"it's okay. i understand the reason why you did what you did. you're a good kid, your nana is so lucky to have you. what's your name?" he knelt down before you once again, knowing that him standing tall in his iron man suit terrified you. "y/n." you responded timidly.
"how old are you, y/n?" this time, it was steve who asked. you had forgotten that there were other people in the room, too consumed by your fear for your life a few moments ago. "i'm fourteen, mr america, sir." you whispered out, the sight of captain america in person intimidating you until you saw a kind smile on his face.
"you're pretty young to be doing what you've been doing, y/n. are you aware that you're the first person to be able to hack into my heavily protected, supposedly impenetrable network? many have tried to do so and failed, and they were really smart people too. have you been doing this for a while?" tony asked.
"um...my father gifted me this laptop when i was 8 because i did exceptionally well in school. he believed i was a child prodigy and let me have a laptop since he knew my studies wouldn't be affected by the distraction of entertainment. i used to only hack into games to cheat my way up the ranks but only recently i tried something else since i had nothing better to do and i've been out of school for a while now. i knew you were a billionaire so i tried just for the heck of it and surprised myself when i got in on the first try. and then i saw your bank account details and i really needed money so i stole some... again, i'm so sorry about that." you apologised, looking down at your feet.
he couldn't believe it. you were just messing around and you managed to get into his system? you, a mere fourteen year old who was out of school, managed to single handedly do what geniuses around the world had failed to do?
he was initially just going to have a talk with the hacker, and in case they were dangerous and had backup, he brought his own. but bringing steve, natasha and peter proved to be unnecessary when the culprit turned out to be you.
"where did you learn those moves?" natasha stepped closer towards you. you looked up at the redhead, noticing the glare she had on you when she aimed her pistols at you was replaced with curiosity.
you fiddled with the hem of your shirt even more, embarrassed to tell her that you learned to fight from a couple of youtube videos when she had gotten years of actual training. you were pathetic compared to her. "i, um, i learned them from some youtube videos."
her eyebrows raised in surprise at the revelation. you hadn't gotten professional training yet you moved like you had. peter had superhuman strength, agility and endurance yet you took him down in under ten seconds. sure it may have been a disadvantage to peter because he was caught off guard but he should've been able to take you down still.
now was tony going to let the chance of a lifetime slip by? no, of course he was immediately thinking of recruiting you. your dad had been right about you being a prodigy. you adapted to new skills quickly and you were perfect for recruitment.
"hey kid, wanna be an avenger?"
your eyes widened and your jaw dropped in shock. steve immediately turned to him, an incredulous look on his face as he glared dangerously at the billionaire. "stark, you wanna think about this for a minute?"
"thank about what, cap? you saw what she did to the spiderling. and she successfully hacked into my system on her first try and we took weeks to trace her. romanoff back me up here," he saw how impressed natasha was by you and he knew the redhead wasn't going to disagree. "stark's right, steve. she's only fourteen and she's capable of so much already. we need someone like her."
"exactly! she's only fourteen! this life is dangerous for her!" steve argued. peter then tapped his shoulder to get his attention. "hey, mr rogers, i'm a sixteen-year-old avenger and she took me down easily. not gonna lie, it hurt my pride, also my back when you flipped me over your shoulder," he turned to you but you didn't say anything because you couldn't see his facial expression. "but i think she's going to be okay, sir."
steve sighed before turning to you, the defeated expression on his face softening when you looked up at him with your doe eyes and a small smile. you didn't answer to tony just yet since it seemed that steve had a say in it as well but you were dying to say yes. not only were you not going to be reported for your crimes but to be recruited by iron man himself to be an avenger? who could say no to that? not you, at least, since you had nothing better to do with your life at the moment.
"well, what do you say, kid?"
your smile grew and you nodded happily. the team couldn't help but crack a smile at how happy you looked for the first time since they've encountered you.
"well, you should go pack your important stuff so we can go back to the tower. you're going to be moving in if you're an official member of the avengers." tony told you and you nodded, walking towards your room to start packing while the team sat on the couch to wait for you.
"wait, what's going to happen to my nana?" you turned back towards them, worry etched onto you face. "don't worry about it, kid. you can give me the details later and i'll settle it. she'll be in good hands." he assured. "okay." you mumbled in response.
you were actually going to be an avenger. "awesome.." you grinned to yourself as you packed.

Nightwing #81 Review
i swear i actually thought no one was interested so i didn’t write one but a grand total of two (2) people said they wanted to read it, so here it is. honestly, my opinion’s been going a bit downhill, but the art is really cool and there are some decent parts so. holding out i guess? i really hope taylor has an end goal or at least a cohesive plan, otherwise i don’t see this series going anywhere i’ll particularly enjoy
Tumblr media
the cover is very straightforward in its imagery, this villain has nightwing in the palm of his hand, easily manipulated, easily controlled no matter the action dick thinks he’ll take.
what i find interesting is the colour: both previously and heavily in this issue, the colourist has chosen to make pink this villain’s main colour, with different shades of pink as accents. so why the red in the cover? possibly to just make it more eye-grabbing, though one could argue that pink is even more eye-catching than red. maybe to convey a sense of dread or fear that pink won’t fully get across. either way, it’s definitely a decision i’m curious about.
Tumblr media
so melinda zucco is in a high enough political position within bludhaven that she is next in line to become the mayor after the previous mayor died and dick just,,,,didn’t have any idea she existed? dick didn’t know anything about her? forget dick’s own brilliant detective skills, forget his doggedness at anything zucco related, you’re telling me bruce never found her and told dick about her? maybe he wouldn’t have now, but back when dick was a young kid, he definitely would have at least made dick aware of her existence, to let dick know and ask if he wanted to interfere with her life or anything.
Tumblr media
i have a thought about zucco’s facial expressions. she is very much stone-cold poker face throughout the entire issue. the only time i see her pull a different expression is near the end when dick corners her against a wall with an arm around her throat.
this is most certainly intentional, what with the varied and intense expressions we see on other characters, dick most prominently. i’m wondering what exactly is the creative team’s reasoning behind this. in these panels, zucco is meeting with the most dangerous, powerful, near-bloodthirsty man in all of bludhaven and becoming the mayor of the city respectfully. in both of these panels, there is barely a hint of emotion in her face: no fear, no determination, no satisfaction. it’s just odd, considering the circumstances she’s in, regardless of any training recieved.
Tumblr media
just spitballing here but. like. from what i’ve read so far, dick doesn’t really seem like bludhaven’s guardian angel. more like when peter parker first put on spandex and blindly stepped out into new york.
Tumblr media
dick, how exactly can you underestimate someone from one move. so he caught your escrima. anyone with enhanced reflexes can do that. you still don’t know how he can actually fight, and this is shown in the next set of panels.
i just don’t like the wording here. dick’s “underestimated” him, but beats him up easy in the next page. in addition, i don’t know much about combat, but i would assume it would take more than one move to determine exactly what an opponent’s skill level is, made even more complex when you add physical enhancements and metahumans and aliens into the mixture.
idk my first thought when i saw that he caught the stick was “ah ok he’s enhanced” because obviously he couldn’t have reacted fast enough if he wasn’t (as there are few people trained enough to catch it on human reflexes alone.) then the wording in the next panel, i’ve underestimated him, made me think “oh no ok so he’s not enhanced, he’s just a really good fighter and can give dick a run for his money in a fight.” then, it turns out my first assumption was proven correct in the next panel. it just comes across as misleading to me.
(also sidenote but his curls are cute.)
Tumblr media
have i praised the art enough in this series? no, i have not.
i adore the way this is laid out and illustrated. without even having to read the text, the action sequence is visually engaging and intense, and easily followable from one panel to the next. dick’s physical expertise comes through quite efficiently, and i love the special attention shown to draw our attention to dick’s escrima in the bottom right corner.
also that move in the middle row leftmost panel that’s the mcu black widow move to get up off the ground it was the first thing i noticed and it made me laugh; thought it was worth noting
Tumblr media
i’m really loving dick’s escrima sticks in this run. they’re just so multipurpose, it’s hilarious and exhilarating. kinda reminds me of bruce’s belt, the way the button in the middle does eevveeerrryyytthhiinngg.
got a problem? don’t worry! dick’s installed a feature into his escrima that can fix that! (i like thinking dick helped make them it makes me happy and makes my engineer!dick side satisfied)
Tumblr media
yawn. your big heart is your one true weakness yadda yadda the fact that you care will be used against you blah blah we get it. jesus can the villains please find a different weakness to exploit, this is getting old.
i need dick’s capacity to empathize and care and love to stop being a weakness that villains sneer about. bonus points if dick saves everyone anyway, either because of or despite his great big heart and the villain is surprised by the goodness of mankind or some shit like that.
i need it to be a strength, right from the get-go. the fact that he cares so incredibly much should be an asset that dick has and will use. he’s a very complex character with years of background, it can’t possibly be that hard to find another weakness of his.
Tumblr media
ooooh this is cool, gosh i absolutely love this.
because what exactly is the reader doing? we are seeing the fear in dick’s face, just as this villain intended. even better, we’re seeing the reflection of it from the villain’s glossy mask, telling us exactly what we’re seeing and exactly what he likes so much about it.
dick’s standing up straight, shoulders drawn back, looking up at this villain’s face with determination and resolve, but his suit is tattered. one eye looks to be swollen. his hair is falling limply around his eyes, as opposed to the curls from earlier. his escrima aren’t even part of the main focus, instead blending into the side of the mask in the outer corners of the mask’s eyes, which tells you exactly how big of a threat they are to this villain.

poor bitewing’s quite alarmed.
also on second thought why would you bring your puppy out like this, when you know you’re gonna end up fighting someone in the suit. a) how many grey three-legged adorable little puppies live in the bludhaven area dick? and how easy will it be to connect the doggo running around with nightwing with the doggo that dick grayson owns? and 2) is this puppers trained? does she have fighting experience? how exactly can you ensure she will survive this highly stressful situation?
dick take better care of your dog
Tumblr media
you know what? i was with tim on this one. why exactly is dick so optimistic and trusting about the people of bludhaven? bludhaven, which has been described as gotham’s smaller, smellier, more corrupt sister city once or twice. it’s not just the corrupt people in power, the entire system needs to change and people need to have faith and hope in order for them to come together, espcially if they’ve been living in conditions like how bludhaven has been described. from how clueless dick is about his own goddamn city, i can tell he hasn’t been here long.
it was a nice moment of hope, i’ll admit. but it was a tad unrealistic for me.
also it was in a weird place in the comic. this sort of confrontation and big get-together of the people to rejuvenate hope in each other feels like it should come near the end of a run, if not the end of an issue. certainly not in the first third of an issue. the pacing’s a bit off to me.
Tumblr media
loyal little puppy patiently waiting for her human to wake up. i love her so much.
Tumblr media
no it’s not. it’s bitewing.
Tumblr media
living for this t-shirt honestly. do comics of dc characters exist in the dc universe? they must if the mug and the shirt are any indication
(now i’m imagining the first batman movie that came out in the dc universe and bruce just. being so offended at who they chose to play him.)
Tumblr media
well, yes. but when a group of people are put through hellish conditions over and over again, they soon become desensitized to the pain and terror of their everyday lives in order to both stay sane and keep their life relatively stable, and part of that becomes ignoring or blocking out anything that isn’t directly important to you or your loved ones. having a bleeding heart will most likely get you killed in a city like bludhaven if you don’t have the same skills that vigilantes have.
and of course, people are more than capable of coming together and rallying under their city’s vigilante after seeing the good they’ve done and how they’ve helped the people, but that sort of trust takes time and effort to build. dick also had the whole ric arc and was gone for a while, which has been referenced several times in this particular issue in fact. that’s not going to make bludhaven’s citizens any more likely to trust him.
maybe i’m being a bit harsh but this comic is comic off as a bit too idealistic for the amount of change nightwing can do in a city given the present and past circumstances as well as nightwing’s own abilities. even dick grayson can’t pull off everything.
Tumblr media
ok seriously this needs to stop this needs to stop.
right now, dick reminds me of oliver queen in the few episodes of the cw’s arrow i watched. he does the punchy-kicky-fighty and occasionally has smart insights due to the skills he gained from his past that he certainly definitely totally has but only ever exhibits once, while his team does all of the background research and information gathering and actual work.
this is dick’s city. if he has the same intelligence, worth ethic, and stubbornness in this run that he’s been shown to possess all his life, then he knows this city inside out. he’ll have meticulous notes organized in a ridiculously efficient system, he’ll have scouted out zucco long before this started, he’ll have known when anything big happened in the bludhaven political landscape in an instant.
i’m really not liking exactly how much dick’s relying on babs and tim in this series. sure, he loves them and cares for them and likes working cases with them. but he always pulls his own weight, has always been a mentor figure to tim instead of what’s weirdly becoming the other way around, and takes point on the cases in his own damn city.
Tumblr media
what kind of weak-ass oracle is this?? redacted fbi files are child’s play. babs used to hack into the fbi for fun. this one particular picture is so out of character i want to laugh.
Tumblr media
reading this series has unfortunately made me confront that, despite the tiny fluid acrobat dick that lives in my head 24/7, canon dick is impossibly 5′10 and muscular at that.
Tumblr media
mmm. titties.
Tumblr media
tim said hydrate or die-drate bitch
Tumblr media
love how dick’s doing all this intense brooding and stuff meanwhile bitewing is curled up in a soft comfy post having the time of her life.
Tumblr media
you don’t understand i would legitimately kill myself for her.
also the lighting in this one scene is cool. the blue tones come off so well.
Tumblr media
they’re just. so multipurpose!! they can become a bo staff. they can cut glass. they can become a grapple hook/line. they can electrify someone. they’re a funky colour. i’m becoming really attached to these things. absolute solid choice in weaponry.
Tumblr media
if you’re gonna write up every rookie mistake dick has made during this series to head trauma, then dick shouldn’t be out and about at all, much less in costume.
Tumblr media
see this? this is just straight up wrong. dick most definitely should have spotted her, and would have immediately moved to take her down.
scratch that, dick would have done a full check of the building, because he knows not to break into places uninformed, especially if the owner of the apartment was raised by the maroni family. someone as highly trained, experienced, and competent as dick wouldn’t have done this.
and if you chalk it up to head injury, (which is probably true), than his ~love interest~ and his little brother should have done a much better job making sure he stays in his house.
Tumblr media
zucco looks so awkward it’s fucking hilarious
Tumblr media
are those shadows that mimic a domino mask, to both reflect and hide the fact that his mask is missing? are those bruises around his eyes, to show how, despite what good he’s doing, being nightwing is hurting dick right now?
(isn’t his domino mask supposed to have an electrifying feature that keeps people from removing them?)
Tumblr media
it’s a little odd how the three known villains of this series are all coloured in warm shades, more specifically pink. meanwhile, in earlier issues, dick’s fondest memories were in pink, memories of him and alfred in particular. why has the colour pink changed from signifying something benevolent to something malicious? idk i hope this gets explained later.
Tumblr media
this i did like. either it’s just a display of brute force in anger, or dick slipped the ties and pulled them off once untied. both ways, it’s an unintentional display of power, and i think that’s kinda cool.
Tumblr media
again. dick is,,,tall? sort of? weirdddd
Tumblr media
i’m so glad most readers are unified in the notion that this was the absolute dumbest fucking thing.
i’m hoping this gets disproved or something soon. and i hope dick doesn’t fall for it, because he definitely knows better than to take something as important as this at face value.
what exactly is taylor trying to accomplish here? why is he trying to go back on what we all knew was a happy, loving childhood and throw strife and disharmony and (what i’m assuming will be) infidelity? this will not end well at all.
---
,,,,,this review got way longer than expected lol. and i realize most of it just became me ranting. i guess i didn’t realize how ticked off i was originally. fingers crossed it gets better.

Black and white P.P
Soulmate AU
a/n: I have no idea what I have written, this is my first time writing a soulmate AU. Feedback is appreciated :) A big thank you to @perspectiveparker for helping me with this fic😊🥰
In a world full of chaos and crime there was only one thing most of the people looked forward to and that was finding their true love or better known as their soulmates. As for you, you've always loved the story of how your parents found each other which was better than any fairy tale. And now you waited for your own.
Everyone was born with a black wrist band and when it turns white it means you've found your true love and soulmate.
You're 18 years and almost half of your school had found their soulmates, trying to hide your emotions was one of your greatest strengths. And here you were again, trying to hide the fact that your depressed that you still haven't found the one. Your parents always reassured you that it will happen soon or at unexpected time, and you listened to them like it was gospel.
"She's so gorgeous Ned!" Peter said dreamily and he leaned on his locker looking at you laughing with your friends. "Yeah, Peter you've said that for the 58th time now, in the past hour!" Ned yelled in frustration, making Peter mutter a soft 'sorry'.
The day went by quickly and now you were on your way walking home. Peter too was busy patrolling after school, everyday when you used to walk home Peter used to keep an eye on you; not stalking you like a creep but making sure your reached home safely.
But today when he was patrolling he noticed two shady guys following you.
"Karen can you pull up the database of those two guys?" he asked the AI system. "On it Peter!" Reading the  information  in front of him his spidey senses heightened, he swooped down from the building ledge he was squatting on and  webbed the bad guys up. All the chaos caught your attention but also startled you at the same time.
"Are you okay?" he breathed through the spandex suit. You were absolutely speechless, you couldn't believe that The Spiderman who just saved your life was standing in front of you. "Yeah, I-I'm fine." You gulped. "T-thank you." Peter could see how scared you were, "Could I maybe walk you home?"
"Oh, you don't have to." You hesitated.
"Please I insist." It was not everyday that you'd get a superhero to walk you home so you took agreed, but that the last moment he decided to change the way of  "walking" you home; instead his swung you across the city. First time for everything right?
On reaching your apartment building, you carefully unwrapped your arms from around his neck, sending a small thank you. As you enter the elevator, you notice something; your black wrist band was now white. At first you thought you were hallucinating, could it be possible? Your soulmate was spiderman?
Meanwhile Peter was in some alley freaking out and dancing that you were his soulmate, after all these years finally. But you were wondering if you'd ever meet him again. The next week you distanced yourself from everyone, this is the one thing that you've been waiting for all this time and now you have no idea how to deal with it. Peter too was anxious and worried about you, he wanted to tell you but he didn't want to put you in danger.
--
One day while you were walking back home from school, passing an alleyway when you heard a noise. Walking towards it you saw what you'd been waiting for, spiderman all alone. All you wanted was a conversation with him to sort out the situation.
"Hey." You stuttered, being nervous was an understatement, this guy is supposed to be your soulmate; there must be a reason the universe put you two together. Thanks to Peter's spidey sense he knew you were there, turning around he looks at your shy and nervous demeanor, and falls in love with you all over again.
"Hey." he says though his spandex mask.
"I actually wanted to talk about the other day," you inform as you rolled up your sleeve to show the now white band, "but you know it's alright if you don't want to." You stutter. Peter just wanted to hug you and comfort you but he something else in mind. "Do you trust me?"he asked as he stepped closer to you. Confused and scared you didn't know what to say, but you felt some sort of connection with him, it was like you've known him forever. "Yes." You gulped.
Peter wrapped his one around your waist and shot a web with the other and he pulled you up, you kept your eyes closed the entire time and tightened your grip around him. Feeling the ground below your feet, you carefully opened your eyes and quickly noticed the surrounding. He had taken you on the roof of some building which had an extremely charming view of Queens.
"Y/n.." He whispered. You were confused, how did spiderman know your name? And then he slowly started to lift his mask; right now you were terrified, what if it was some older man trying to fake being spiderman to kidnap you. But the all your doubts were cleared when your eyes met a beautiful pair of hazel ones, giving you a sense of relief. "Peter?" You asked timidly.
"You must be pretty disappointed."
"What? No I'm not! I'm glad actually."
"What?"
"Yeah, I mean, I've always had a crush on you and now," you bit you lip, making Peter blush," I'm so so happy that you're my soulmate."
"Yo-you've had a crush on me?" You nodded in response. Peter pulled you in a tight hug and completely underestimated his strength. "Peter!" You gasped.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!"
"It's okay." You reassured him as you pulled him onto your lips; it took Peter a while to comprehend what was happening but eventually melted into it.
"I'm so happy I've finally found you." You admit pulling away.
"Me too." Peter once again pulled you in his embrace.
"Peter!" You gasped once again.
"I'm sorry." He winced.
"It's okay, we can work on that." You smiled at him.

Word Count: 5974
Pairing: Peter Parker x Stark!Reader
Summary: Peter and Y/N have revealed their secrets and tried to talk things out. But in an effort to be honest, it may have gotten worse. Is there hope for this couple or should they find the good in goodbye?
“You got blood on your hands.” Your dad stands over you, Captain America on one side and Black Widow on the other. “How do you plead?”
“I didn’t mean to hurt him.” You say weakly. “I made a mistake. Just-”
“You seem to do a lot of that.” Captain America’s voice bounces through the room.
“Please, I love him. Let me make it right!”
“Doesn’t look like you loved him enough, did you?” Black Widow’s voice offers you a challenge.
-
“Y/N?” MJ said from your side, shaking you lightly.
You jumped slightly, sitting up quickly from leaning against the table. You looked around, seeing no one left in your class room but you, MJ, and your teacher. You sighed slightly, wiping your face and trying to clear your head of your latest dream. You gathered your school supplies and noted that you hadn’t written anything on your papers.
“I slept the whole class period, didn’t I?” You asked regretfully as you and MJ left the room, waving a goodbye to your teacher.
“Mhmm.” She nodded simply. “I’ll send you my notes later.”
“Thanks.” You muttered, pulling out your phone to see nothing from Peter.
“Wanna tell me what happened last night?” MJ offered as you two headed to the main door. “You look terrible.”
“I couldn’t sleep.” You shrugged.
“Does that have any correlation to Peter not being here today?”
“Probably, I don’t know.” You mumbled, turning away from your normal walk home.
“Where are you going? Your apartment is this way.”
“I’m going to my dad’s.” You replied, stopping to turn and face your friend. “I can’t be home, not right now. I could barely stomach to be in my own room last night. I stayed on my fire escape all night because I just couldn’t take it. It’s just all bitter, no sweet.”
“So you two broke up then?”
“We’re not on speaking terms.”
“You broke up.”
“No, I don’t think so… Just not talking right now.”
“Well, what happened?”
“I made a mistake.” You answered carefully. “And I’m having a problem trying to make things right. Last night, I probably made things worse.”
“What are you going to do about Liz’s party this weekend?”
“Not go?” You shrugged with a nervous laugh. “I don’t know, MJ. Right now, I’m just trying to get through the day. And I had a fight with my mom last night about getting in trouble over the Flash thing so I’m really not in the mood for anything today. Sorry.”
“I get it.” She nodded slightly. “Just- Don’t beat yourself up too much, alright? Peter’s just an idiot. You two will figure it out.”
“Thanks, MJ… I’ll text you later.”
You rode in silence through the city to your dad’s tower. You showed the badge Tony had sent to your apartment, security ushering you in easily. You conversated with the head of security after he introduced himself. He said his name was Happy, and that he had known your dad for a long time. Happy took you to the floor where your dad was, saying that Tony’s lab and most of the Avengers were found on that floor.
You wandered around the massive space, soon finding a training room. There was a dumbbell rack against the far wall, a wall lined with full length mirrors. A weight bench was near it, next to a squat rack. There was a row of punching bags, an area on the floor set aside for partnered work. Various pads were piled by the ring, along with pairs of boxing gloves.
“I didn’t know you were coming.” A familiar voice said from behind you as you were kneeling to pick a pair of gloves.
“My mom is working late and I didn’t want to be home. She’s gonna pick me up when she gets off.” You answered, not wanting to turn and face him. You knew if you did, some sort of emotion would take over. But you were scared of which emotion it would be. Desperation? Anger? Fear? Pain? Loneliness?
“Are we okay?” He asked carefully, dropping his bag by the door and coming into the room. You watched his movements through the wall of mirrors, refusing to turn and face him.
That was always the thing with Peter. You two didn’t fight often. The Spiderman feud was probably the only real fight you two had ever had. But you had petty arguments every now and then. And once those arguments got to the silent treatment, one look from him and his big soft puppy dog brown eyes and you were melting back into him.
“There’s so much I want to say… So much I still haven’t said yet.” You replied slowly, picking your words intently. You knew you had to be careful with what you said. You were afraid that you would blow up and lose Peter. “But I’m lost, Peter. Things are different between us, and you can’t tell me it isn’t.”
“Not everything is different.” He offered a small, sincere smile. “I still love you.”
“The worst part about this is that it isn’t affecting you the same way it’s affecting me.” You laughed in disbelief. The words you had been holding in, hiding from everyone around you were bubbling over. The locked up feelings that you couldn’t verbalize were beginning to change into actions. You could feel the familiar twitch in your muscles, begging to release itself as quick and decisive blows. You turned to face Peter, dropping the gloves in your hands.
You let your feet move themselves, guiding your body closer to Peter. It felt like a magnet, pulling you to him. You knew you should’ve stopped. You should’ve planted yourself like a tree and refused to move. But it felt like it’d be right to be close to him, to trap yourself within the painted lines on the floor with him.
You realized you weren’t trying to just be close to Peter. You were closing in on Spiderman, the way you used to slowly stride closer to him before launching an offensive. You wanted to start a fight.
“Y/N, every night that I’m out, I swing by your apartment.” Peter explained, stepping closer to you. He was giving in to your movements, following your lead to close the distance, fully unaware of your subconscious intentions. “I haven’t been able to stop thinking about what last night.”
Once he was close enough, you threw a quick punch. Peter dodged it easily, catching your right hand with his left. His eyebrows were furrowed in confusion while you squinted your eyes in determination. You urged yourself to forget, to bring yourself back to before you knew the identity of the bug-themed boy in spandex. You urged yourself to let your mind slip fully into Heretic’s mindset, the girl who knew how to release her pent up frustration. The girl who wasn’t dating a superhero.
“What are you doing?” Peter asked in surprise.
With a quiet tilt of your head, you reacted. You spun your wrist out of Peter’s grip, grabbing his arm and pulling him to you. While he was thrown off balance, you dropped to a knee and brought your elbow against the back of his knees. He groaned, falling to his knees. You kicked out to the side, knocking Peter flat on the ground.
Peter tried to process what was happening, but his brain kept telling him that he couldn’t hurt you. But the way you were moving, the intent you were moving with, it wasn’t a fight between Y/N and Peter. He recognized your movement pattern as a fight between Spiderman and Heretic. He took a second to compose himself, to allow himself to believe it was Heretic he was against.
He quickly jumped to his feet, trying to decide if he should fight back. Before he could make up his mind, you were coming at him with a calculated series of blows. Peter quickly blocked most of your hits. You ducked under his arm, connecting your elbow to the ghost of the bruise from where you had stabbed him previously.
He wobbled on his feet as he held his side, allowing you to charge again. Your mind was fuzzy, your muscles acting on their own. Soon, Peter was redirecting all of your attacks. He wasn’t blocking or fighting back, just sidestepping and avoiding. You dropped to sweep his legs, but he easily jumped over your foot. He landed in a low crouch, reaching over to push you. You quickly leaned into your palms, kicking your feet out.
Your feet connected with Peter’s chest, sending him rolling across the mat. You used the opportunity to jump to your feet. Peter turned to face you before shooting a web at your ankle and yanking your foot out from under you. You fell to your back, Peter quickly moving to pin your body down. He had his legs on either side of your hips and folded your arms against your chest.
“What the hell has gotten into you?” Peter panted, slightly winded.
You stared at him for a moment, noting the way the sweat made his curls stick to his forehead. His cheeks were slightly tinted pink and his chest noticeably rose and fell with his heavy breaths, both effects quickly fading back to a normal level. You chuckled lightly, pushing Peter off of you. He moved easily, not fighting to keep you pinned. You sat up on your elbows, tilting your head to look at him.
“You should’ve told me sooner.” You said plainly, working through the thick lump in your throat. “Maybe if you had told me before Tony came back into my life, this would’ve been different.”
You knew you had to have this conversation with Peter if you wanted to be able to move on. You wanted things to go back to normal with him, to be able to hang out and laugh and enjoy each other’s company. But now, it just felt like there was an elephant in the room. A big, fat elephant in the room wearing red and blue spandex. And even though you had tried this conversation last night, it didn’t work out well for you.
“I knew how you felt about superheroes.” He replied, his head hanging low. He was upset that he didn’t tell you sooner, but he also knew that you would react in a similar way. He didn’t know that you’d physically fight him over it, but he knew you’d lash out. “And the way you always talked about Mr. Stark and the Avengers… I didn’t want you to hate me too.”
“Peter, you know that I love you.” You sighed, crawling to sit across from him. You considered reaching out for his hand, but you decided against it. You had sent enough mixed messages when you put up the facade for school in the previous days. “Whether you’re a superhero or not, I still love you.”
“Then why did you just attack me?” He asked in shock, gesturing to the mat you two had just been fighting on.
“I don’t know!” You replied in the same tone. “I just- I’m trying to cope with everything still. I’m trying to pretend like everything is okay but it’s not. And this is the only way that I’ve figured out how to deal with things.”
“I didn’t want this to come between us.”
“That’s why I never told you about Heretic…” You explained slowly. You thought that maybe - just maybe - if you had confessed everything, put it all on the line, things could stabilize between you two. “I didn’t want the idea of me being the bad guy to drive you away. I didn’t think you’d understand what I was doing and why I was doing it.”
“I still don’t understand. You’re not the bad guy, Y/N, but...” He shook his head in silent frustration. “These tantrums been old. I can’t keep doing this.”
“You’re killing my vibe in ways words cannot describe. But I’ll try.” You paused, trying to plan your words before you said them. Last night, you let your words flow freely and you caused a rift between you and Peter. So now, you sat before him, silently pleading for him to forgive you. Maybe then you could forgive yourself. “I would take a bullet for you just to prove my love.”
“Only to find out you were the one holding the gun.” Peter scoffed. “Y/N, do you honestly think this hasn’t been bothering me?”
“How would I know?” You challenged simply. “You didn’t come to school today, so was I supposed to just know?”
“It's eight Mondays in a row, nine days of the week.” He replied, punctuating his words with a purposeful point to the ground. “Ever since you started ignoring me the first time, I haven’t been able to actually sleep, o-or focus. Everything reminds me of you, but you don’t even care.”
“I do care, Peter.”
“No, you don’t.” He chuckled in annoyance. Peter wanted to let the whole thing go, to forget that you were at odds and go back to the blissful ignorance of your relationship- back to a time when neither of you knew the other’s secrets. But he knew that wasn’t possible. Your relationship was changed forever, and now you two were faced with a challenge. Adapt or lose everything you two built. “If you actually cared, you’d come with me tonight. As Spiderman.”
You sat in front of your boyfriend, dumbstruck with his request. It seemed so simple. Spend time with Peter as Spiderman, learn to see them as the same entity instead of separate beings. How could you not see it before?
“And if I can’t do it?” You asked tightly, knowing that if you could barely stand the thought of Peter in the suit, it’d be even harder to spend the night with Peter in the suit.
“I saw something earlier, about how there’s good in the bad and bad in the good.” Peter explained, seemingly off topic.
“Yin and Yang.”
“They said there’s an ‘over’ in lover, ‘ex’ in next. But I think what hit hardest was the g-o-o-d in goodbye.”
“We’d break up, then…” You nodded slowly, realizing you were backed into a corner. “Looks like I don’t have a choice, do I?”
“I need you to need both, baby.” He said softly, consoling almost. He leaned over and took your hand, tugging it slightly in an effort to ask you to come closer. You gave in almost instantly. You crawled to sit beside him, to lean your head on his shoulder. His arm came around you as he held you close, as close as he could keep you. “I don’t want to lose you.”
“You won’t, Peter.” You confirmed. The moment felt so normal, it made your head swim. “You won’t lose me.”
“Y/N?” You heard your dad calling from down the hall. “Where you at, kid? There’s someone I want you to meet.”
“In here.” You replied, lifting your head from Peter’s shoulder to turn and look towards the door. You watched as your dad entered with Captain America and Black Widow.
Doesn’t look like you loved him enough, did you?
You jumped up in a panic, remembering your dream from your last class. A fresh, new wave of pain and regret coursed through your body. Regret flowed in your veins instead of blood, the desire to flee causing tension in your muscles. Your eyes darted around the room as you looked for another exit, any way to escape the suffocating pressure you felt closing in. Part of you knew that they weren’t going to lecture you - they wouldn’t turn against you - because they didn’t know you. They didn’t know anything about the situation, let alone know anything about you. But the irrational idea that your dream was some sort of prediction was hard to rid yourself of.
“Y/N, this is Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff.” Your dad introduced them.
“Uh, hi.” You said awkwardly.
“Not much for words, are you?” Natasha teased lightly.
“Yeah, guess not.” You chuckled nervously.
“Well, you don’t have to worry about it.” Steve offered kindly. “You’re Tony’s kid, which means your welcome here with open arms.”
“That’s really good to hear, Captain.” You nodded, the tight knot wound in your stomach gently unravelling. “And considering I’m on the outs with my mom, that’s really comforting.”
“What’s this about you and your mom?” Tony cut in, sliding in front of Steve and Natasha.
“Huh?” You played dumb.
“Don’t play dumb with me, Y/N.”
“She got mad that I wasn’t home when she got home.” You waved your hand to dismiss his concern. You saw Natasha motion for Steve to follow her, not thinking they needed to be in the room for that conversation. She pointed at Peter for him to follow, but then shot a look of annoyance before the two left. You assumed Peter refused to leave. “She wasn’t happy that I got into a fight and then ran off like nothing happened.”
“Yeah, but nothing happened.”
“I know that. But she doesn’t. I don’t even care anyways.”
“Y/N-” Peter tried.
“No, I don’t.” You laughed. “She wants to blame me for getting in trouble when A) I didn’t start the fight. B) I didn’t actually hurt Flash, just his ego. And C) Morita was sending me home anyways. What does it matter where I actually went?”
“I get where you’re coming from.” Tony offered, continuing to speak even though you were gathering your stuff to leave the room. “Hey, don’t walk away when I’m talking to you, alright? You’re pissed at your mom? Fine. But you’re not gonna take it out on me.”
“It’s more than just Mom.” You shook your head. “Ask him.” You nodded towards Peter before leaving the room.
You were about halfway out the doorway when you felt a thread-like material wrap wound your wrist. You let your backpack fall from your shoulder on the opposite side while you turned on your heel. You wrapped some of the excess webbing around your hand as you faced Peter, his arm extended and his hand gripping his end of the webs. You glared at him in challenge, trying to gauge if he actually wanted to do it. When his gaze didn’t waver, you acted quickly.
You yanked Peter forward. You aided yourself by moving in close, spinning towards Peter with your left arm locked out, in essence clotheslining the boy. Peter fell to the floor on his back while you stood triumphantly, gently placing your foot on Peter’s chest.
“Seriously?” You mocked. “What were you trying to accomplish?”
“Quit it.” Your dad said, cutting Peter’s web. “Leave him alone, Y/N. He’s trying to help.”
“Yeah, everyone’s trynna do what’s best for me, right?” You scoffed, picking up your backpack on your way out.
You took the long walk home by yourself. You declined Happy’s offer to drive you home. You declined Steve’s offer to pay for a cab. You knew the walk would be about half an hour, maybe more. But it would give you time to think.
You knew Peter would show up on your fire escape tonight, covered head to toe in his suit. You knew that you would have to dig out your gear and if you had the time, repair the neurotransmitters for your knives. A small part deep in the back of your brain was excited, itching to wear the familiar spandex as you silently wandered your neighborhood. But a bigger part, a louder and more prominent part was smarter. It was telling you to call off the meet-up, to find an excuse to not go out.
Maybe you had to catch up on the notes you missed. Maybe your mom was cracking down on you since you were M.I.A. two days in a row. Maybe you were feeling sick. No, Peter wouldn’t believe any of it.
For what felt like the first time in your life, you felt truly afraid. You were scared that you wouldn’t be able to see Peter and Spiderman as the same person. It wasn’t an option to keep them segregated, to have such a deep love for Peter but turn around and despise Spiderman. You kept telling yourself that they were one and the same.
You had seen it with your own eyes. You saw Peter come to your room the night before, red and blue suit fitting snugly against his body. You watched him peel away the mask and let loose a bed of messy brown curls and wide, loving eyes. You saw Peter, in a simple pair of jeans and a nerdy t-shirt, move with the same specific agility and precision that Spiderman moved with. You saw the same moves, the same defensive strategies at play less than an hour ago.
You had ample evidence and memories etched into your brain to support the notion - to prove the notion - that Peter Parker, the boy you loved with your whole existence, the boy who you had given your heart to without hesitation, was the beloved local hero. Peter was Iron Man’s newest prodigy. He was Queens’ protector. Peter was Spiderman…
But could you be Heretic again? It seemed like the fiasco of alter egos kept unravelling new issues every day. It felt as if a mountain of issues was piling up in front of you, and if you pulled on the one you felt was the heaviest to deal with, the entire collection would topple over on top of you and suffocate you.
As you finally approached your apartment door, the sun was slipping behind the nearby buildings. Night was coming quickly, swallowing the time you had left as Y/N. Pushing the time you had to become Heretic upon you. You set your intentions on your bedroom as you entered your home. You quickly reheated your dinner and took it to your room, refusing to utter a word to your mom.
“How was school?” She tried, to which you huffed in response. “Did you go to your dad’s after school or were you at Peter’s?”
The only response was the microwave beeping.
“I know you’re upset about last night, but I don’t think it was right for you to run off with Tony when you were sent home from school… But I do have to admit, I am glad you two are getting along so well.”
“Mhmm.” You acknowledged, a lift to your eyebrows displaying your disbelief in the subject. You carried the hot plate to your room and locked the door behind you.
You knew it wasn’t fair to be so angry with your mother. But with everything going on at that moment, you felt like you wanted to be mad at everyone. You couldn’t even let yourself be - admittedly - starstruck by meeting Captain America because you were upset about what your own mind produced. You hesitated by your door, considering heading back out and apologizing. But the dimming sunlight outside your window and the heat spreading from your dinner to your fingers reminded you of what you were intended to be doing.
You picked at your dinner while you worked to repair the neurotransmitters. You didn’t know what Peter had in mind when he asked you to meet with him, but you knew what the streets of New York could hold, the danger that she kept tucked in alleyways and prowled on dimly lit avenues. You knew you had to be prepared for anything, and since you wouldn’t have your serums to give yourself added protection, you needed to have your knives at the ready.
It was a few hours before you had completed the repairs with the stashed parts in one of your desk drawers. You unlocked your window before changing into your familiar spandex suit. You tugged on your boots, treading silently across your room. You pulled your hair up into a tight ponytail, pulling a couple strands to frame your face. You tossed your mask on your messy bed while you busied yourself at your desk, copying the notes that MJ had sent you.
meech🤔🙄: hey loser. heres the notes you missed. meech🤔🙄: quit screwing around and handle your issues with the other loser. i dont want to see you spiral cause a scrawny nerd
You hadn’t heard Peter crawl through your window, being that you had your music playing on your computer. His light tap on your shoulder caused you to jump and turn aggressively in the chair. Luckily, he was there to catch you so you didn’t tumble to the floor.
“Hey.” He said simply. Even though he had his mask on, you knew he was smiling. You heard it in his voice.
“Wow, guess I fell for you again.” You joked instantly, patting his chest lightly as you hauled yourself to your feet. “So, what’s the plan for tonight, Spiderman?”
“You’re really gonna come with me tonight?” He wanted to confirm. One thing you could always count on was Peter’s double-checking.
“No, these are my new skin-tight spandex pajamas.” You laughed lightly, side-stepping him to collect your knives from your bed, along with your mask. “Peter, I know these past couple days have been terrible. And I know it’s mostly been my fault.”
“Baby, no.” He said softly, reaching for your glove covered hand with his own. You couldn’t physically feel his fingers around yours, but you felt the pressure of a gentle squeeze and the slight texture of his suit against your exposed fingertips. “I’m as much at fault as you are.” Your eyebrows raised in amusement as you paused placing your mask on your face. “I didn’t mean it like that!” Peter immediately backtracked.
“We’ve been together for a long time, hon. I know what you meant.” You shook your head in amusement before hiding behind your mask. “You can keep going, by the way. I like where that was headed.”
“All I’m saying is that I could’ve done a little more. I don’t want to lose you, Y/N.” Peter admitted, headed towards the window with a gentle grip on your hand still. “You are… everything to me.”
A huge smile broke across your face. You had never thought that hearing words Peter had told you a million times over would give you such butterflies, such a tingling feeling across your body. Hearing it come from Peter, but seeing it come from Spiderman, it helped you bridge the gap between the boy you adored and the persona that you despised.
“So, what’s the plan tonight?” You asked again as you two climbed out of your window to your fire escape. “Usually I just kinda wander around until I run into you.”
“You ever wondered what it’s like to swing?” He offered, the sound of a smirk dancing in his voice.
“You’re kidding.” You smiled nervously.
“Do you trust me?”
“What?”
“Do you trust me?” He asked, climbing to stand on the railing of your fire escape and holding his hand out for you. The entire scene reminded you of the Disney movie, Aladdin.
“Yes?” You replied carefully, reaching for his hand. You climbed to the railing, wrapping your arms around his shoulders tightly. “If I die-”
“You’re not gonna die.” Peter laughed.
“If I die-” You continued pointedly. “-don’t let Flash come to my funeral.”
You closed your eyes tightly, burying your face into the crook of Peter’s neck. You locked your hands together, clinging desperately to Peter. Once you felt your feet leave the railing, a small squeal left your lips. You considered wrapping your legs around Peter’s waist for bonus security, but you abstained, worried it would interfere with Peter’s swinging.
You wanted to take a peek and see where you two were headed, but the wind burn on your face kept your eyes shut. You eventually felt the sharp sting of the cool air stop. The deep woosh in your ears had silenced, but it took a moment for your head to stop spinning.
Peter’s arm around your waist relaxed slightly to a lazy drape. Carefully, your feet felt the solid ground beneath but your arms remained locked around Peter. The swirling feeling in your head subsided, your mind settled slowly to allow your body to find its balance. You carefully opened your eyes, finding you and Peter atop a tall building with a familiar skyline.
“Is this your apartment building?” You asked slowly, taking in the new angle of the familiar view.
“Yeah..” He said gently, as if he was admiring the view as well. “I didn’t really want to do anything tonight… I just wanted to be with you.”
“Y’know, last time I was here with you, I threw you off the roof… I didn’t get to actually take in the view.”
“I forgot about that.” He laughed gently.
“I never said sorry for that, by the way.” You said awkwardly.
What you didn’t see was that Peter was admiring the view, only he wasn’t looking at the skyline. Peter’s eyes were trained on you, feeling as if he was seeing you for the first time. Peter was dumbstruck. How could you become even more beautiful?
Maybe it was the wind blown look of your hair. The pink tint of your cheeks and nose due to the wind burn. Maybe it was the wide, soft look in your eyes. The adoring smile you offered. Maybe it was the way you clung to his body even though you were completely safe. He felt your hands release themselves, one of them slid from across his shoulders to hang lazily against his chest. The ghost of your hand left a tingling warmth across his skin under his suit. Even though there was no skin to skin contact, he had missed your touch more than he had realized.
“I love you.” He said so quietly he barely heard his own voice.
“I love you too, Peter.” You replied, turning under his arm to face him. You took a small step to the side so you could stand in front of him fully. You slid the hand from his chest back up to his shoulder and up his neck. “Can I kiss you?”
“I was hoping you’d ask.” He tilted his head with his words, his signature move when he was a little cocky. He leaned in slightly before pulling back quickly and removing his mask. “Almost forgot.”
You paused for a millisecond, recognizing something incredible. You didn’t shy away from the kiss with his mask on. Yes, it would’ve been strange to kiss his mask and not him. But you didn’t think of it as kissing Spiderman. Your mind registered it as Peter with a mask on.
It was just Peter with a mask on.
You smiled widely from your revelation, leaning into his lips eagerly. Your hands easily slid up his neck, the feeling suit disappearing under your exposed fingertips and fading into his warm, soft skin. You felt the tousled texture of his hair, the slightly damp mess of curls that your digits were so used to being tangled in.
When you pulled away for a breath, you noted the dopey smile on your boyfriend’s face. You tilted your head back to let out an honest laugh, the realest laugh you had released since you had learned your boyfriend’s secret.
“This is amazing, Pete.” You said gently, your fingers dancing small circles on the nape of his neck. “I can’t believe you get to do this every night. I can see why you never answer me after eleven.” You joked.
“You’re in a good mood tonight.” He offered a small, content smile as he spoke. “So I guess Spiderman isn’t all that bad, is he?”
“Well, Spiderman did just try to kill me…” You teased, tilting your head side to side as if mulling over the thought, to which he scoffed in response. “But the guy under the mask is actually pretty great.”
“Y’know, if you want, I’m sure Mr. Stark would give you an internship like mine.”
“I don’t know about all that yet.” You shut down the thought almost immediately. “But I don’t think it’ll be as hard for me to see you and Spiderman as the same person anymore.”
“That’s all I wanted.” He sighed in relief.
“I owe you an apology, Peter.” You admitted with a heavy sigh. “It’s the least you deserve.”
“No, you-” He tried.
“Let me say this. Please.” You tried, offering Peter a pleading look. He nodded slightly, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to your shoulder. “I reacted out of fear, out of anger and- and pain. And I know that’s not an excuse, but I didn’t know how to cope with everything. The entirety of my world had flipped in the matter of minutes. Less than one hour changed my family dynamic and my dynamic with you. You are a huge part of my life, and if I lost you - especially over something so temporary - over feelings so blown out of proportions. I don’t think I’d be able to forgive myself. I couldn’t even sleep last night when you left. And then you weren’t at school and I- I thought it was my fault. I thought I chased you away and I had lost you.”
You felt a gentle thumb drag across your cheek and you realized you had begun to cry. Silent, warm tears had started to fall slowly down your face, and the sight was almost enough to move Peter to tears of his own. He offered you a sad, understanding smile. You leaned into his touch, your eyes closing to let your mind root yourself in that moment.
He knew it was hard for you to admit everything you were saying. He knew you were never the most open of books, not even with him. You told him everything - almost everything. And now, here you were, with the New York skyline setting the scene behind you. The constant sounds of the city’s streets filling the silence between your words, the heavy movements of your chest as you tried to maintain your semblance of calm. Peter felt a warm feeling in the pit of his stomach, a tingling feeling. Almost like butterflies.
It felt like the first date all over again.
“Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that I absolutely adore you. And I want you in my life, no matter what you’re wearing.” You laughed nervously. “I love you, Peter Parker. And I need you.”
“You need me?” He teased lightly, wiggling his eyebrows in suggestion.
“I need you, Peter.” You nodded with a smile. “And I need you as Spiderman, too.”
Peter threw his head back with a wide grin. He let out a dramatically long sigh of relief before he faced you again. “I’m so glad you said that.”
“How long are we going to be out tonight?” You asked. The adrenaline of swinging with Peter was draining from your system and you could feel your body inching towards a crash. The lack of sleep from the night before probably wasn’t helping your case.
“You wanna come in?” He offered, leading you to the side of the building that would eventually lead to Peter’s window. “I know you’re tired.”
You nodded tiredly, mumbling how you’d have to explain it to your mom in the morning. Peter hopped over the ledge so he could offer you his hand and help you climb the fire escapes. He stayed in front of you, walking down sideways so he could keep any eye on you. His hand was locked around yours as you two treaded the metal steps that would eventually take you to his bedroom.

A Halloween Special (WinterSpider AU)
Summary: It's Halloween at the Avengers Tower, and the team plans a very special group costume. Peter is thrilled and can't wait for the event. Bucky, however, is decidedly not participating in the costume. Peter comes up with a plan to get his boyfriend to dress up in a costume and go to Tony's Halloween party.
Pairing: Peter Parker x Bucky Barnes
Word Count: 5.0k
Warnings: None really...lots of fluff... an excessive amount of smirking and blushing...
A/N: Here’s my self-indulgent Peter x Bucky Halloween fanfiction in July lol. It’s been up on my AO3 (@lynnnieee) for about a week now but I thought I might post it here as well! Thanks for reading!!!
Also, here’s a gif that has nothing to do with the story just brighten your day😊😊
Tumblr media
Peter is more excited about this year's Halloween than he has been about any other in years. Usually, Ned came over, Aunt May ordered pizza, and they'd binge Halloween horror movie classics all night until they finally crashed on the couch in the early hours of the morning. Even last year, when Peter turned 18 and moved into the Avenger's tower, everyone decided not to do anything special. Most of them were just arriving home from a mission cleaning up some of the remnants of Thanos' visit to Earth and were too exhausted to carry out any sort of plans. But this year, things have been calm for more than a month now, the longest period of time in a while, and Steve had managed to convince Tony to throw a party in the tower on one of the multipurpose floors.
And for Peter, this Halloween only kept getting better and better. All of the Avengers planning on attending the party made a deal to dress up in costumes of each other. When Natasha had jokingly teased Sam with the idea, Peter was instantly excited. Though some were more reluctant than others, Peter and Clint managed to get everyone on board. Well, almost everyone, that is.
Bucky had sat back on the couch, drinking coffee from one of Tony's oversized mugs, watching his boyfriend and Clint try to rally the team together into a group costume. He had a smug look plastered on his face the entire time until Peter turned to him and Bucky realized he was expected to "join in on the fun" as well.
"No."
Peter frowned, "But Buck,-"
"No."
"It'll be fun-"
"No."
"Maybe you'll get somebody with a really cool suit, like Thor-"
Sam chuckled, "Or maybe you'll get an outfit like Nat's."
Peter bit his lip, imagining Bucky in a skin-tight, all-leather pantsuit, "Even better," His eyes gleamed bashfully.
Bucky smirked when Tony cringed from his spot behind Peter and muttered, "Eww."
Peter walked over to Bucky and plopped down in his lap, wrapping his arms around the man's neck. Bucky set his mug down on the side table so he could rest his metal hand on the small of Peter's back as Peter gave him the puppy dog eyes he knows Bucky has a hard time resisting. "Please, for me?"
Bucky smiled and brought his other hand to cup Peter's cheek, a small blush forming on the boy's cheeks. Bucky leaned in and pressed a quick kiss to Peter's lips, but then pulled away and still said: "Not a chance."
Peter pouted, "You're so mean to me," Causing a small laugh from the group.
Bucky chuckled and wrapped his arms around Peter's waist. "Come find me after the party, and I promise I'll buy all the Halloween candy I can find so that we still have our own after-party of watching horror movies all night."
Peter's cheeks turned even redder, knowing that Bucky's idea of an after-party will definitely include more than just candy and movies. He dramatically sighs but can't help the grin on his face, "Okay, fine."
"Good." Peter turns back around to face the group, who was in the midst of discussing the best way to go about deciding who gets to be who, when Bucky placed a soft kiss to the back of his neck. Peter doesn't think he could ever get sick of this, even when Bucky is being stubborn.
But Peter thinks that Bucky must've forgotten one thing, he can be equally as stubborn as the solider when he wants to be. So by the next morning, Peter had come up with a plan he believes to be pretty foolproof. The rest of the gang decided to draw names from a hat to determine who'll they'll come dressed as, but Peter requested his name be taken out of the drawing because, as he told Tony and Steve, he has a fantastic idea that he guarantees will get Bucky to cave on Halloween. He tells them not to mention anything to Bucky and refuses to disclose the details of his plan, saying it will just have to be a surprise.
Steve had smirked at him, telling Peter that he's hasn't seen Bucky in a Halloween costume since they were six years old, so if Peter needs anything at all, just let him know and he'll be happy to be of any assistance. Peter didn't realize Captain America could be so mischievous, but he liked it.
So today, on Halloween, Peter is fully ready to enact his plan, hopefully causing Bucky to laugh and come to the Avengers' party in a costume. The secret costume he picked out for Bucky is tucked away in the corner of the closet in Peter's room where he knows Bucky won't find it. He managed to put both of their outfits together for a pretty cheap price as they already had most of what he needed. Although Peter knows Mr. Stark has told him dozens of times to just ask if he needs money for anything, especially now that he's living in the tower, he always declines. It doesn't feel right to mooch money off of his mentor when he's already living in the luxurious Manhattan tower free of charge.
Peter's just about to pull his own costume for the night out of the closet when Bucky pokes his head in, knocking twice on the door. Peter looks up at him with a bright smile as Bucky walks in. "You getting ready for the party?" The man asks, shutting the door behind him.
"Mhm," Peter hums, pulling the bag out of the closet but leaving handles tied shut, "But you can't see my costume yet."
"And why's that, doll?" Bucky teases, sitting down on Peter's bed.
Peter sits down beside him, tossing his legs over Bucky's lap, "Because it's a surprise, so you have to wait just like everyone else." He responds playfully, knowing Bucky's already aware of that because he's asked Peter only about a thousand times over the past few weeks.
Bucky chuckles, shaking his head, "I still couldn't believe it when Stevie told me you decided not to take part in the name drawing when the whole thing was your crazy idea."
Peter smiles, "Hey, it was Clint's idea too!" Bucky laughs again, tucking his hand under the collar of Peter's shirt on the back of his boy's neck, running his fingers through the ends of his curly, brown hair. Peter leans his head back against the cool metal on his neck, his eyes falling shut for a moment as he makes a small purring sound that always brings a soft smile to Bucky's face. "And anyway, I know you're going to like my new costume a lot better." Peter opens his eyes, a troublesome glint reflecting in them, "But I made sure to stay in line with the theme!"
Bucky raises an eyebrow lightheartedly, "And you're really not gonna tell me?"
"Nope," Peter shuffles off of his bed and gently pulls Bucky up at the same time, "And you gotta go so I can change cause the party starts in less than half an hour."
"Alright, alright, I'm going," Bucky raises his hands in mock surrender with a smirk playing on his lips.
"You sure you don't want to come with us?" Peter asks yet again.
Bucky smiles, then leans over and pecks Peter on the forehead, "I'll see you out there, doll." Peter flushes at the soft touch and resists the urge to pull Bucky back and keep him here a little bit longer. Peter shoots the man one last grin before shutting the door behind him.
Although he is absolutely not going to partake in the costume swap, Bucky is a little excited to see everyone dressed up as each other. He wanders into the living room, planning on watching TV while waiting for everyone to meet up in their costumes, but mostly so he can laugh at whoever has to dress up in Nat's combat suit.
Not even five minutes after sitting down, he sees Sam coming walking into the common room from the small hall leading to the few bedrooms on this floor. "Even in a random draw, I'm still a damn bird," Sam says, throwing a bow over his shoulder on top of the arrow quiver.
Bucky snorts, eyeing Sam in Clint's Hawkeye uniform. He's dressed in all black, except for the underneath his vest, where a dark blue shirt with one short sleeve and one long sleeve sits with its collar popped. A quiver of arrows is hooked across the middle of his chest with a leather strap lacing over the bulletproof vest. But the bow and arrows aren't the only weapons Sam wears, though, as a gun is holstered on his left thigh and a knife is attached to his right boot. Sam completed the outfit with a black cuff on his right wrist, black combat boots, and a wristbow fastened to his left wrist.
Before Bucky can even say anything, another voice carries in from the hallway, "Woah, you look awesome!" Clint rushes into the room, "Right down to the details," He points to the knife on Sam's boot, "Great job, man! Now we'll just have to see if you can use that thing as well as I can." He nods to the wristbow.
Sam snickers, "I can't wait to see Steve's face when he gets a look at you." Bucky honestly could not agree more. Clint arrived in a full spandex Captain America suit, the colors notably much brighter and costume-like than Steve's battle suit. Clint obviously put muscle padding under the sleeves on his biceps and one of Steve's cowls adorns his head, as well as a tall pair of black combat boots, but the standout of the outfit is undoubtedly the blazing shield on his arm.
"Is that actually Steve's shield?" Bucky asks, looking at the reflective metal shield resting on Clint's right arm.
"You bet it is," Clint smirks, "I'm not one to half-ass it on Halloween!"
Bucky laughs harder as Sam raises an eyebrow, "Does he know you have that?"
Clint's smirk turns sheepish, "I may have asked Tony to get it for me as a favor." Sam rolls his eyes but chuckles nonetheless.
"Somebody say my name?" Tony opens the door from the main hallway, marching into the room in what Bucky automatically knows will take the cake for the most extra costume of the bunch.
Clint's eyes go wide, "Oh. My. God." Tony recreated The Falcon suit down to a T, even some slight smudges of dark dust and dirt litter knees and boots to resemble wear. Tony put on a maroon and gray military-grade suit identical to Sam's, a weapons' belts with a holster on one side and an array of knives on the other, slick metal boots with knee pads clicked onto the shoe rims, and automated gloves with red accents and tech lining the cuffs to control the wings. His eyes are covered by sleek goggles with red lenses and a gray strap.
Sam approaches Tony slowly, his eyes continuously flicking over the suit as if looking for any sign of flaw, "Do the wings work?" He eyes the red and gray harness resting over Tony's shoulders.
"Please, what do you think?" Tony smirks, pressing a button on one of the wrist cuffs. In a split second, maroon and silver wings shoot out from the pack on Tony's back, which begins emitting three soft, red lights. "I know your wingspan can go up to 50 feet at full stretch, but I figured a twelve-foot wingspan was good enough for a party."
"This is incredible, man," Sam slowly shakes his head, "How long did it take you?"
Tony shrugs, "Not long, Peter helped when I had to be in meetings."
"As much as I hate to say it, I'm impressed," Bucky says to Tony, although he usually hates to stroke the man's ego.
Tony's self-satisfied expression only grows, "Thanks, I know," He stares at Bucky's plain black henley and jeans, "Still not coming to the party?"
"Well, I can't now, how am I supposed to beat that?" Bucky says as if he had any plans to go in the first place, gesturing to Tony's extremely high tech costume.
Tony rolls his eyes but smiles, "Oh, I ran into someone pacing in the hall that I think definitely has this and everyone else beat." He turns his head to the door, "C'mon Capsicle, I think it's your turn to come in now!"
Bucky raises an eyebrow when Steve calls out from behind the hall doors, "No, thanks, I'm good out here!"
"Don't be shy, Steve, you look fantastic!" Tony yells back, his amused grin never slipping.
Steve groans loudly enough to be heard in the common room, but he pushes the door open anyway. "You know, I knew there was a chance of this, but I guess I thought my one out of six odds were good enough," He mutters, and, well... Bucky can't help the chortle that immediately leaves his mouth.
Clint doubles over, laughing so hard Bucky thinks he might cry, "This is the best thing I've ever seen in my whole entire life!" Steve growls slightly, but his face showers with embarrassment.
Sam pats Steve on the shoulder. "Don't worry, you look great, man!" He says, though clearly holding back cackles of his own.
Steve's face goes even redder, if that's possible, as he stands in front of half of his team in a one-piece, tightfitting, black leather pantsuit. The outfit is fitted with two belts, one around his waist for various weapons, and the other around his middle with a small red hourglass buckle pulling the suit even snugger than it already was. The top is unzipped down past his pecs, only inches above the hourglass. Black, fingerless gloves and tall combat boots (Bucky never noticed until now how many of them wear those) put the finishing touches on his costume.
Bucky tries to control his laughter, "How did you- Where did you-... Stevie?"
"Tony helped me out a little bit," Steve replies, still avoiding eye contact with everything but the floor.
"Did you end up figuring out who everyone drew?" Sam knowingly asks Tony.
Tony shrugs, "What can I say, there was a high demand and I'm the only supplier you all know, apparently. And not quite everyone, Nat and Thor both kept theirs very close to their chests, though I know they each have to one of the only two remaining on my list of unknowns." Tony suddenly rolls his eyes, "And don't even get me started on Peter. Since he's come up with his costume idea he won't spare a single detail except that it's still 'on our theme'. It's incredibly irritating." Bucky only smirks to himself, all the more intrigued at what or who his boy is going to show up dressed as.
"Yeah, I'm sure-" Steve starts to say, but stops when he gets a good look at Clint, "Wait, is that my shield?"
Clint puts the shield behind his back sheepishly, "Uh... no."
Steve gives Tony a stern look that is met with a one-shoulder raise from the inventor, "I owed him a small favor, now we're even."
Steve sighs and shakes his head, trying to keep back his grin, "I expect it to be returned without a scratch, Barton."
"Aye, aye, captain," Clint salutes him. Heels clicking echo out of the main hallway into the room and Clint's smirk widens, "And here she comes, ladies and gentleman."
"Well, hello boys," Natasha dryly smiles as she enters the room dressed completely in metallic red and gold.
"Natasha!" Tony blanches, "What have you done to my glorious armor! While you look undeniably stunning, that does not do my infamous technology any justice!"
Steve and Bucky roll their eyes dismissively at Tony's over-eccentric outburst, while Natasha's lip twitches in a way suggesting that this was the exact reaction she was aiming for. Her rendition of the Iron Man suit was powerfully feminine and she somehow manages to exude the same intimidation she always does while wearing a one-piece, bright, metallic, vinyl outfit. Her costume includes red knee-high, high-heel boots with golden tights pulled on underneath and matching red, metallic shorts layered on top of those. The shiny red top matching the boots has a high-neck collar and long sleeves, but with a slit over her chest emphasizing the shoulder pads to provide some of the bulk of Tony's armor. She pulled on gold, fingerless gloves and let her ginger hair fall down over her shoulders, a gold headband tied around her forehead.
"Your suit was a little bulky for me," Natasha smiles innocently, "I had to improvise."
"You look fantastic, Nat," Clint cheers from the kitchen as he grabs a bag of chips from the basket on the counter.
Natasha cracks and her smile turns genuine toward her best friend before she looks over the rest of the team and her lips titter, "Well, Steve, I think you pull off my suit even better than I do." Steve's cheeks enflame once more, inciting another laugh out of Bucky.
The door flings open again beside the group. Thor marches into the room completely covered in green body paint. "It looks as though everyone has outdone themselves tonight!"
"That's got to be some kind of fate that the most overly bulked out person here gets to be the Hulk, right?" Sam points out. Thor's costume is relatively simple and straight to the point. Aside from a pair of purple shorts with ripped bottoms, he painted his entire body in shamrock green paint.
"I hope you used actual body paint and not some kind of crap from an art store, Point Break." Tony grimaces.
Thor beams at Natasha, "Ah, yes, I had some help picking out the right kind of thing from tonight's Woman of Iron."
"Yeah, well, didn't want you turning green for a week."
"Yeah cause that wouldn't have been epic." Clint scoffs and mutters sarcastically, earning himself a glare from Natasha. She puts her hands on her hips and he slouches down in his seat, finishing off the bag of chips in his hand to keep his mouth closed.
"Am I the last to get here?" Everyone turns to see Bruce dressed in a replica of Thor's Asgardian armor with a long red cape flowing down his back and a foam Mjolnir in his left hand.
"Bruce!" Thor quickly stalks over to the scientist.
"Nope, we're still waiting on the kid too," Tony cuts in.
"This is sensational! We have switched roles!" Thor pats Bruce's shoulder a few times while asking, "How did you get my clothing so realistic looking?"
"Oh, um," Bruce nods his head towards Tony, "I had some help."
Sam shakes his head as Tony gives a shit-eating grin, "Like I said, supply and demand, folks, the making of a billionaire."
Bruce raises an eyebrow, "Did I miss something?"
"Of Tony's egotistical rambling?" Bucky snarks, "Consider yourself lucky."
Bruce ignores him, instead opting to ask Tony, "Did you end up getting anything out of Peter about his costume fro the night?"
Tony playfully pouts, "No, kid's keeping his lips sealed tight on this one."
Bruce chuckles and Steve smiles, "I guess you're due to find out any minute now then."
Speaking of Peter, Bucky glances back at the hallway leading to his bedroom door, looking for any sign of the boy. "Hey kid, you almost ready?" Tony calls out, "Heavy metal over here is getting anxious for your arrival." Bucky rolls his eyes to himself at the nickname, but tries to school his face, not wanting to show the slight truth to the inventor's statement.
Peter hollers back, "Yeah, just a second, Mr. Stark!" The door slams and then a thud is heard from Peter's direction along with a shout of, "I'm okay!" Bucky can't force down the smile that creeps onto his face as he catches a glimpse of Peter running down the hall towards the team. When Peter comes into his full view, Bucky freezes, taking in exactly what it is he's looking at.
Peter stands in front of him in an all too familiar outfit. The navy bulletproof vest, the dark long-sleeve shirt hiding underneath it, the brown pants with various sized pockets on the sides, the belt of empty knife holders around the boy's waist, the empty gun holster strapped to his thigh, the black lace-up boots, leather gloves, and not to mention the black mask currently unclasped and hanging off his boy's left ear. The shirt gives Peter sweater paws and the pants are so baggy around his legs that Bucky knows he must have pulled them from Bucky's closet. Heat rolls under Bucky's skin all through his body as he stares at Peter in front of him dressed like a smaller, cuter, and less-violent Winter Soldier.
Peter bites his lip, a soft flush rising onto his cheeks. Most of the team is smiling at him, while Tony's draw is dropped open a bit and Bucky just stares at him. "I couldn't quite solve how to do the metal arm justice but I figured this would be good enough," Peter gestures to the small red star patch sewn on into the left shirt sleeve.
Tony loses his stunned expression and lets out a loud guffaw, "I don't know why I'm surprised, seriously. I had a lot of ideas of what you might come dressed as, including the horrific possibility of a sexy Spider-Man, but admittedly this was not one of them." Peter's a little happy to have been able to shock Tony, honestly.
"Well, I think you did an excellent job, Peter," Steve says from across the room, looking knowingly between Bucky and the spiderling.
"Thank you," Peter cracks a small smile when he looks at Steve's costume and tries to hold his giggles in, "Wow, that's... quite the outfit, Captain."
Steve's face reddens into a blush matching Peter's. "It's already eight o'clock, I guess we should head on down to the party," Steve says to the group.
"Probably a good idea," Natasha shoots Peter a sly smile. She nudges Tony towards and pushes him towards the door when he tries to stay to see what's going to happen considering Bucky is still frozen in his spot.
"Just because you're me for the night doesn't mean you get to be the boss now," Tony mutters as the team exits the common room, Clint sending Bucky a suggestive look on his way out, but the soldier barely even registers it.
As the door slams closed, Peter looks back at Bucky with a shy smile. He anxiously begins to the wind his fingers through the dog tags around his neck - the only thing Peter was wearing that was not a part of his costume. Bucky had gifted him the tags for their one year anniversary, and he hasn't taken them off since. The sound of the metal clinking together snaps Bucky out of his Peter-daze and he instantly makes his way toward his boy.
Once he's mere inches away from Peter, he allows his eyes drag up and down the boy's body again, struggling to hold back his urge to drag Peter back to his bedroom as he ogles him. Bucky definitely has a thing for Peter in his clothes, and he knows Peter knows it too if Bucky's constant stream of missing shirts and jackets is any indication, but he never thought he would be this enticed at the sight of Peter in his combat uniform.
"So, what do ya think?" Peter says quietly, peering up at Bucky through his eyelashes with a kittenish smile.
Bucky shakes his head, unable to push back pleased smirk any longer, "I think I know exactly what you're doing." His hands fall to Peter's upper arms, moving slowly up and down.
"And what am I doing?" Peter steps even closer, their shoes bumping together, as he leans up on his toes to nudge his face closer to Bucky's, pressing a soft kiss on the man's jawbone.
"Peter," Bucky's voice drops warningly, only sparking more excitement in Peter. "I'm not going to the party." Bucky's hands trail down Peter's forearms to the tips of his fingers and rest on his hips.
Peter cuts him off with another kiss, this one beneath Bucky's chin, "Who said anything about the party? I'm just showing you my costume before I leave," A kiss below his ear, "I spent a while putting it together," Another low on Bucky's neck, "and I wanted you to be able to get a glimpse of it before I show it off to everyone else at the party." A kiss gently on his collarbone.
The sensical part of Bucky knows Peter is toying with him, but apparently his body didn't get the memo as he clenches his teeth, struggling to resist giving in, "I think everyone's really gonna like it," Peter stares at him with his big, innocent doe eyes, whispering, "don't you like me like this?"
A growl escapes Bucky's throat and he presses his thumbs into Peter's hipbone, but as he tries to move the final inch to press his lips to Peter's, the boy moves his head away. "Sorry," Peter grins coyly, "I should be getting to that party now. Don't want to be late."
He tries to step away, but Bucky's grip tightens on his hips, just above the empty weapons holster. "You really are a little menace, aren't you?" Bucky puts a hand under Peter's jaw, his fingers trailing over the boy's cheek.
"You really gonna make me go to the party alone?" Peter whimpers gently as Bucky moves his leg in between Peter's thighs.
Bucky huffs a sigh, and places a kiss on the top of Peter's head, "I can't believe I'm saying this..."
"But...?" Peter beams at him.
"We're going to leave early," Bucky tries to sound serious, but the ecstatic look taking over Peter's expression overpowers him.
"Deal!" Peter jumps up to press his lips to Bucky's before he whispers a soft, "Thank you."
Bucky just nods in defeat, "Alright, let's go."
Peter frowns, grabbing onto Bucky's hand before he can walk away, "You can't go to the party without a costume, Bucky."
"Afraid I don't have a costume, doll." Peter grins mischievously and Bucky stops, "You got me a costume, didn't you?"
Peter laughs and nods, pulling the man towards his room. "It's actually what triggered my costume idea too! I promise it's simple!"
Bucky chuckles as he watches Peter pull a plastic bag out of his closet, "I considered getting a suit fit for you, but no matter how perfect I know you would look, I also knew you never, ever wear it in front of other people, so I tried to do something basic instead."
Bucky raises an eyebrow but his silent question is immediately answered when Peter pulls out a hanger holding a long sleeve blue Henley shirt underneath a sleeveless, red zip-up hoodie with a black spider decal in the middle. "You can just wear blue jeans with it and your army boots, the red ones, to match." Peter hurries to say, "Oh, and one more thing," He leans over to pulls the last object out of the bag and hands it Bucky. "I don't use that one much anymore. It's the one from the first Spider-Man suit Mr. Stark made for me."
Bucky glances from the mask in his hand to Peter's hopeful face in front of him. For some reason, this party obviously means a lot to Peter, so he sighs, resigning himself to endless teasing from Steve and Sam for the next hundred years, "Only because I love you so damn much."
Peter bites his lip, "Really? You'll wear it?"
Bucky smiles teasingly, "What? Me giving in wasn't a part of your master plan? What tricks were you planning on using next?" Bucky wraps his arm around Peter's waist, laying their foreheads on each other, "Cause I'll bet I'd be open to more persuasion."
Peter flushes beet red but still grins softly at Bucky, "Of course it was part of my plan, but I wasn't- I just wasn't actually sure that you would do it in the end. I know Halloween isn't your thing and although I really, really wanted you to go I'd never make you do something you definitely did not want to do in the end, because you had to do that for too long and I love you too, and-" Bucky cuts off Peter's flustered rambles with a small kiss to the boy's lips.
Peter is still the color of tomato when Bucky pulls away, "There isn't anything in this world that I wouldn't do for you, doll." He smirks at Peter's outfit once more, "Especially when you're all dressed up for me."
"Bucky," Peter whines, dropping his head into his soldier's chest. Bucky laughs and Peter feels the rumbling on his temple.
"C'mon, let's get me all ready for the party." Bucky pulls back, "Sooner we go the sooner we can come back here, eat a shit ton of candy, and maybe," Bucky nods toward the mask, "we can put some of this webbing to good use." Peter bites back a moan and slowly hands Bucky the costume, trying not to fumble under the lustful gaze from Bucky that he's grown so in love with.
>>><<<
"Steve!" Sam says, pointing to the elevator that just let off.
Steves glances over only to find Bucky entering the room, all dressed up in a makeshift Spider-Man costume, with Peter at his side pulling him over towards Tony and Pepper. Steve chuckles and turns to Natasha, "Bucky in a costume at a Halloween party, I can't believe the kid actually managed to do it."
"I'm not surprised," Her lip quirks up, "He always goes soft when it comes to Peter."
Steve clinks his glass against Sam's and Natasha's in agreement as he watches Bucky stare at Peter's rambling with fond, loving eyes.

Shut Up and Punch Me
Peter Parker x Fem! Reader Warnings: some bullying (name calling), which is never cool lol Request: Girl going to school with Peter Parker, and having abilities of your own. You two are recruited for opposite teams and having to fight each-other. He is very intrigued by your fighting techniques, and when you get back to school he realizes it was you he fought. Thank you!!
A/N: I used Y/s/n to mean your superhero name, as well as the usual Y/n for your name.
Midtown High School was just like any other high school. You learned stuff, drowned in homework, and experienced occasional typical high school drama. There was one anomaly that set Midtown High apart from all others (except for Xavier’s of course). Two superheroes hid among the student body: you, for one, and Spider Man. You happened to see him sneak into the building in his suit once, but you hadn’t seen who was under the mask. Not yet, anyway, and it was driving you insane. You weren’t used to being caught off guard.
When you first started patrolling NYC, you didn’t expect to run into him nearly as frequently as you did, and you certainly didn’t expect to run into him during your most important battle yet. Of course, he was always interrupting your bad-ass bad guy takedowns, but now your super cool, super critical-to-your-superhero-career, super dangerous team battle too? This had to be some sort of joke. The guy was entertaining at times, but lately everything he did rubbed you the wrong way.
Just a week earlier, you had been stopping crimes with the friendly neighborhood Spider Man, and now you were fighting alongside Captain America, The Falcon, Scarlet Witch, The Winter Soldier, and Hawkeye to face Iron Man and his equally powerful superhero lineup. You had been instructed by Captain America to stick with him and only engage in battle if absolutely necessary, but for some reason, as soon as you saw the red and blue spandex-clad teen hero, you went for it. Wasn’t there such a thing as turf or something? If there was, the arachnid was definitely all up in yours. You tackled him to the ground, only to be greeted with the same idiotic remarks as usual.
“Y/s/n, fancy seeing you here. It’s almost like we planned it, I-I mean I didn’t plan it, but we run into each other so often, fighting and stuff, you know, it would almost seem like-” you cut him off.
“Oh I know. It’s beginning to get on my nerves, web-head.” You replied rather pointedly, pinning his arms to the ground while straddling him. The position you were in was no doubt suggestive, but you were too pissed to care.
“Is it really? Oh I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-”
   “Spidey-boy?” You whispered.
   “Y-yeah?”
“Shut up and punch me,” you continued, voice low. With that, you pushed yourself up and off of the utterly confused teenage hero, taking a defensive stance.
“Wait, what?” Spider Man replied, getting up and scratching his head.
“Spidey, you are always getting on my nerves,” you say as you throw a punch aimed for his jaw. He barely manages to dodge it, as he throws his hands up in a defensive attempt.
“What was that for?” He asked, taken aback, as he sprung up.
“That was for you interrupting every. single. one. of my takedowns,” emphasizing each word with another punch. “Also, for every witty line that escapes your mouth, and for being a superhero in the same freaking school as me,” you paused for breath. “Oh, and in case you didn’t notice, we’re kinda on opposite teams.”
“Wait wait wait. Hold on,” he paused, bewildered.  “How do you know we go to the same school? I wasn’t even sure that we were the same age! You’re always so quiet when we fight and kinda angry, I guess, and I-”
“You’re doing it again.” You cut him off.
“Y/n?” You stopped advancing on Spider Man as Steve spoke through your earpiece.
“Steve? What’s wrong?” You immediately responded while you tried to locate him in battle.
“In case you forgot, I told you to not engage unless absolutely necessary, and we need your help. Now.”
“Sorry Captain!” You quickly apologized, already beginning to run to his location.
“Nice to see you, Y/s/n,” Steve teased.
“Sorry, I thought you’d be able to handle yourselves,” you replied with a smirk. Just as you were about to spring back into action alongside your team, your ever-present interrupter swung down to stop right in front of you.
“Hold on! You can’t just try to attack me, say we go to the same school, and run off!” Spider Man exclaimed, clearly exasperated.
“Seriously, how old are you guys? Like twelve?” Hawkeye chuckled.
“Y/S/N, get your middle school boyfriend outta here,” The Falcon joined in.
“Spidey,” you said, ignoring them while advancing on Spider Man, “I can run off when I want, and I did. Problem?”
   “Yeah!”
   “Then do something about it.”
“Tony, why’d we recruit him and not her? I like her,” said Black Widow.
“Fine! I will!” Spider Man then webbed your hands together.
“Finally,” you said, rolling your eyes, as you swing your now connected fists into Spidey’s side. With the distraction of you and your frenemy’s verbal battle now dissolved, the fight truly broke out between both teams.
Spider Man let out a groan, and as you managed to hit him already, you weren’t going to go easy on him. As much as the thought of fighting someone you knew from school might have pained you, you had to remain focused since Spidey was on the opposite team. Spider Man noticed you were lost in thought, and he decided to take advantage and webbed your ankles together. You looked down, trying to escape from the webbing that was binding your hands and legs, but your struggle made you fall forward, crashing into Spider Man and falling on top of him. (Insert flirty pun here lmao). Your face flushed slightly, but you quicly refocused and headbutted Spider Man before rolling off of him and onto your side. Squirming around quickly, your body bent so you could reach your tied hands into the pouch attached to your belt wrapped around your waist. You pulled out a knife, flipping it around to cut the webbing off of your ankles and then your wrists. Getting back up from the ground, you noticed Spidey had recovered from your  headbutt.
The two of you continued to fight, the battle between you was fairly even. You groaned out of frustration, this was becoming pointless. As much as you hated admitting it, Spider Man had the same skill level as you. The two of you were just tiring each other out - and that’s when shit hit the fan.
As soon as Ant Man grew to the size of a formidable skyscraper, Cap yelled for you to leave the airport. Knowing this fight had evolved past your ability level, and with Steve’s heads up, you managed to escape before anyone even noticed you were gone. It sucked to have bailed early, but you knew your parents would ground you forever if you weren’t home in time for school tomorrow.
Despite the fresh bruises, and having been involved in the biggest superhero fight of the century just the day before, Peter made his way to his first period class. He couldn’t help but wonder as he wandered the familiar halls if you were at school too, and if you were wondering who he was. Of course you wouldn’t be, he thought to himself, as just the day before you had seemed extremely annoyed with him. He shook his head to clear his thoughts as he ran a hand through his hair. That was when he noticed Y/N, standing in the hallway trying to defend her friend. He didn’t really know Y/N well, but he shared some classes with her and thought she was a cool person, and also super pretty. She and the aforementioned friend were just minding their own business at a locker, but Y/N’s friend was being relentlessly taunted by one of the queen bees. Peter was just about to jump in when Y/N finally snapped.
“Look, I can insult my best friend, but if you do it again,” you stepped closer to the girl, “You’re going down.”
“Do you remember when I asked you for your opinion? No? I don’t either,” the girl said and pushed you out of the way.
“Do you really want your ass handed to you in front of this many people?” You asked and gestured to the crowd gathered around the two, hoping to watch the drama unfold.
“Like you could hurt anyone more than your friend’s face does on the daily.” Following that last remark, you put your hands on either side of the girl’s face and headbutted her.
“You should learn to use your head more often; there’s got to be something in there other than air,” you stated, as she lay on the ground clutching her head. You turned to your friend, “Come on, let’s get to class.”
As you walked away, Peter couldn’t help but recall the similarities between the headbutting of that girl and the one he received from Y/S/N yesterday. Y/S/N had said that they went to the same school, but what are the chances it was actually Y/N? Only one way to find out.
“Hey, Y/N!” You turned around at the sound of your name, only to come face to face with Peter Parker. He was some totally adorable super genius that you hadn’t really ever gotten around to speaking to.
   “What’s up, Peter?”
“I was just thinking, that that was, ya know, pretty cool of you.”
“Thanks,” you smiled, and maybe even blushed a little.
   “Some would even say heroic.”
“Oh I doubt that,” you smirked. Little did he know.
“So do you headbutt people often?”
“I wouldn’t say so,” you paused, as you narrowed your eyes, “What are you getting at, Parker?” Now it was his turn to smirk.
“I dunno. Maybe you should shut up and punch me?” He had the biggest shit-eating grin on his face.
“You’re freaking Spider Man?!” You whisper-yelled in the busy hallway. He simply shrugged, his face still adorned with that smile, as he backed away and began to disappear in the crowd.
“Hey! Parker! You can’t just say that and run off!”
“I can run off when I want. Problem?”

Itsreallylaterightnow Master List
AO3 Page: https://archiveofourown.org/users/itsreallylaterightnow/pseuds/itsreallylaterightnow
Order: Newest to Oldest
19. Love, Michelle
Peter Parker and Michelle Jones have been friends since meeting at Midtown. Their relationship has had many up's and down's, the universe seemingly cursing them to never cross paths no matter how desperately the two want each other.
Or
The Love, Rosie AU that I didn't know I needed until I saw @seek-rest post about it
18. Irreplaceable You
Then she learned that she didn’t have to worry about that anymore. Because her story was going to end. She didn’t need to worry about what she was going to wear next, or her payments, or her assignments. It didn’t matter anymore because she was going to die. And she never knew that she was living her life for the next moment until she realized that the only moment, she was waiting for was her death. But the one thing that she would always worry about, was Peter Parker.
or
The Irreplaceable You AU that took over my life and is going to make me cry a whole lot
17. There's No Shelter From the Storm
With the Accords having fallen to pieces, Secretary Ross will do anything to take out enhanced individuals. Even if that means paying scientists to create a biological weapon carried by non-enhanced individuals that only effects those with mutated genes. Tony pulls Peter out of school, quarantining him into the tower, but how hard is it going to be to keep a teenaged ball of energy from getting himself infected?
or
Peter Parker is really bad at quarantining himself when there are still people that need Spider-Man's help and Secretary Ross sucks.
Author's Note: This is a fic obviously inspired by the crazy events happening outside our doors, but this fic is in no way meant to be insensitive to those affected. Stay home, stay safe. My prayers are with those infected, families who have loved ones infected, those who are quarantined with abusive families, first responders, medical professionals, and those who have lost jobs.
16. To Look Down Upon You is Enough For Me
“A wise man told me once that fathers weren’t always born to you. That-that sometimes the best fathers are the ones that step up to the plate when no one else is there. I didn’t truly know what having a father was like. But now I know what having a father should be. And I’ll miss him every day.”
-
Peter went on the mission thinking that he and Mr. Stark would be back in time for him to apologize to Michelle about being late for supper again.
He never would have imagined the outcome that happened, or how much it would affect who he was as a father.
15. Now All Our Memories (They're Haunted)
“I want to stay.” Peter stated indignantly, ignoring the blood that dripped from his nose, a waterfall of pain and dread. His head pounded like a river breaking on the shore over and over and over again. He could feel it. The energy that was racing through his bloodstream. His mind was a supernova. Flashes of lights and stars and images of things he had never seen – things he could never understand. Time warping around his consciousness, bending his thoughts into an everlasting loop. He felt the world at his finger-tips and he wanted it to go away. Like a black hole coming to wrap around him as he tried to claw his way back to the surface. Peter took a ground shattering breath – the earth’s plate shifting every time he inhaled. “I was going to be with you… forever.”
14. Let's Just Order Take Out From Now On?
Peter always knew that May's cooking was bad... he just never expected to almost die from it
or
Peter gets botulinum poisoning and stress ensues
13. Nothing is As it Has Been (and I Miss Your Face Like Hell)
Pete is grieving. And he just needed to say goodbye. Needed the chance to say goodbye. When he gets the oppurtunity, of course he won't pass it up.
or
The author is grieving and just really needed to live vicariously through a fic so she wrote this.
12. 5 Times Tony Got Peter Out + the One Time He Couldn't
Tony is always there for Peter. Always. But God, it can be exhausting when the kid has the worst self-preservation skills in the world. But, that's why he has Tony.
or
5 times Tony got Peter out + the one time he couldn't
11. My Bones Have Found A Place (To Lie Down & Sleep)
Prompt from Irondad-Fic-Recs on Tumblr: Prompt: So I just saw little women and I’m just thinking about the scene where one of the sisters dies. Like the older sister Jo, fall asleep by her bedside only to wake up to see her younger sister is gone. So how about peter and tony in this situation. Tony dozes off by Peter’s bedside while he’s hurt or sick and wakes up to find he passed away while was sleeping
:(
Why you got to hurt me like this? What if it’s like an IW AU where people die, and the body is left behind after Thanos snapped? and Peter clings on to life long enough to get back to earth and the compound where they hook him up to machines to try to save him (his heart is failing or something idk) but then that happens.
so basically that, just check it out.
10. It's Just Medicine
Peter has an old injury that flares up once in a while, he thought for certain that he would be able to keep it a secret from Tony, until it flares in the middle of them testing out a new suit.
or
Tony Stark is a worried dad, and hates to see when Peter is in pain.
9. So Leave Me In The Cold (Wait Until The Snow Covers Me Up)
Peter has been missing for three weeks. Tony just needs to get his kid back. Just needs to hold him again.
Whatever it takes.
Or
Another rescue fic because we could always use some protective Irondad
8. Run Into My Arms Again (walk with me into the light) - Febuwhump
Tragedy strikes Peter Parker’s life again. He wasn’t ready for it, and he knows that he will never be the same, but after four months of college, he is beginning to think that he will learn to be whole again. He has his family; May and Happy, and the support of the Starks to help bring him happiness again.
Then, the unthinkable happens. When Peter finds himself in the clutches of someone that wants nothing but to see Tony Stark burn to the ground, how will he find the strength to hold on until help arrives? And will he be able to protect his newfound family in the process?
7. Sometimes I Feel Like I'm Being Pulled in So Many Directions
Peter knows he did poorly on his final, and he feels bad enough. Then May finds out. Peter doesn't know how to handle all the pressure of being a normal high-school teenager on top of trying to balance the responsibility that comes with being spider-man.
Thank fully he has Tony Stark and May Parker to keep him in check- and comfort the stressed teen along the way.
6. When I Was Older
Peter Parker never thought that something like this would be a problem, he always imagined with the spider-bite came a sort of overall health and wellness... well besides being shot at constantly. So when this terrible illness bites down on him suddenly, how will it effect the few days he has left?
or
Peter Parker contracts an illness that he has never heard of then learns that it has no known cure... will he lose his mind before getting the chance to say goodbye to the ones he loves?
5. Whumptober 2019
spooky season=whumpy season! Here is whumptober 2019 from the prompts I created on my Tumblr itsreallylaterightnow! Please enjoy!
WARNING: this is whumpy stuff- so violence, graphic violence is to be expected. There will be blood and injuries and sadness, but it should mostly have a happy ending to each chapter!
4. Diamond of the Day
Peter couldn't let Mr. Stark die. He wouldn't let him die. He had lost Ben, he wouldn't stand by and not do anything.
Or
The Avengers Endgame/Merlin crossover that no one asked for and made me sad
3. Saturn
Penny Parker lost May a year ago, and as she is coping with what happened, her life just seems to be one trial at a time. Within seconds her life changes forever. Will the knowledge that she still has a family, not by blood but by love, be enough to get her through the challenges that come her way?
or
Penny lives in the tower with the Avengers, but Ross has a plan for revenge. He knows that Tony would never show fear or pain, but in order to hurt Tony Stark, you hurt what he cares about. (I suck at summaries I'm so sorry)
2. Tumblr Drabble/One Shots
Archives from my tumblr - itsreallylaterightnow
Remember that I take requests over there! If it’s irondad whump/fluff odds of me accepting it are like... %100!!! Love you all!
Enjoy the fluffy whumpy goodness :)
1. Use Somebody
Peter Parker lives the average life... school, being an intern to the biggest company like-ever and fighting criminals while wearing spandex. Who knew that being close to Tony Stark would hold such deadly consequences

Is this Happiness
Tony Stark/ Peter Parker.
Part 1
( Spiderman kidnaps Tony to get the avengers to stop trying to capture him. Only then, Peter realizes how bad avengers treat Tony and vows to take care of Tony Stark, Earth's best defender and his childhood crush and hero better. This is Tony and Peter helping each other and finding the happiness they deserve.)
Tony wakes to being bound by some strange rope like substance which is soft at the same time. His head is covered in a black cloth bag of some sort and his legs were tied to the chair with the same substance. The last he remembers is fighting some bots. The now pardoned Rouge avengers had called him to the fight. They had promptly blamed him for the bots even though he would never make anything soo mindless. He had made better bots when he was 17 years old and drunk of his head colllege student.
He didn't know who had kidnapped him or how. Just as he was trying to get out of the rope or figure out a way to reach Friday, the bag covering his head was yanked off. The light was too bright, squinting his eyes he could see someone dressed in red and blue, some sort of spandex or pajamas. Oh, now he remembered, it was Spiderman, the guy Shield had been trying to 'recruit', or thats what the other avengers said anyway. They had been trying unsuccessfully to capture him for a while now. But he didn't get why this guy decided to kidnap him. Tony wasn't even part of avengers anymore, just their wallet and fire power.
"So, Mr. Stark i thought it was time, we had a little talk. Seeing how you avengers are soo eager to get me and all."
Ahh,so another problem he was gonna get blamed for that he had no control over. This day was just getting better and better. " listen here Spiderman, I'm gonna be honest. I have no hand in what the avengers do, so you might want to take your grievances to the other spandex clad hero or maybe your arachnid sibling."
Somehow Tony could see the disbelief on the guy's face though his mask. That was cool. Maybe Tony could do that to his suit too. Then he could show how unimpressed he was with the rogues without having to leave the safety of his suit. Yay, this was something he will be looking into.
"Look, i don't know how else to spell it out for you. I don't control the avengers. I m only tech, money and public face for them when things go wrong. Kinda like a sugar daddy who gets no sugar and all the contempt." Saying it out loud hurt quite a bit but Tony always knew this to be true,so he had to say it if it would get him out of this.
The guy seemed to hink for sometime before he answered, "Mr. Stark, i don't know how much i believe you. You are the best fighter among the avengers, thats why i brought you here, so we could talk and get this resolved. I'm the friendly neighborhood Spiderman, Mr. Stark. I wouldn't hurt you"
"Yay, you have a funny way of being friendly", Tony grumbled.
Again Tony could see the the guy becoming awkward and uncomfortable through his mask. He had no idea how that was possible. And his web like rope wasn't having any give. It was neither cutting into Tony nor it was loosening. Tony really really wanted to study it. And like the guy had said he was friendly neighborhood Spiderman. He doesn't harm anyone, so
"Hei, tell you what, you get me out of these ropes, let me study your suit and web and ill have a talk with the avengers and shield and try to get you immunity. How does that sound, huh?"
The guy backed a little bit, posture becoming defensive, " Why do you want to study my suit and web? "
"Well, you know me, I'm Tony Stark. Ofcourse i wanna study this engineering marvel. I have seen your webs holding more than 10 tons and still have enough flexibility and give for you to swing around, its really brilliant, spidey"
" uh, wow, You just complimented my invention. I mean you, Tony Stark, genius inventor, scientist of the century, Iron man just complimented me....yeah, this is awesome. Thank you soo much Mr. Stark. Big fan. Love your work" The guy was practically gushing at this point, bumbling on his feet like an excited puppy.
Tony couldn't help grinning. Wow this was the best kidnapping till date. It was soo long since he had someone genuinely happy and enthusiastic about his inventions.
"So what do you say spidey?, wanna let out your hero. I promise ill try help you out with the avengers."
The guy seemed to deflate on the spot. " I'm so sorry Mr. Stark. I can't do that. I really need the avengers to back off. I have tried talking to them. But they don't listen and thats why i thought if i made someone listen, this could be resolved. But, i can't let you go, now. "
" So whats the plan here. Kill me and make me an example of what would happen if they dont let you be? "
" Of course not Mr. Stark. I would never hurt anyone. I'm just going to keep you here, till they stop coming after me. But Mr. Stark you have to believe me, i will not hurt you Mr. Stark. I swear."
When Tony pointedly rocked his chair using the web binds, the kid resured Tony, " Are they hurting you Mr. Stark, they are supposed to be soft so they don't cut into skin. But, I'll even take them off if you promise not to leave. "
It was cute how the guy was so naive and also how much he cared for Tony's comfort. More than how much his teammates seemed to do. Tony was gripped by the memory of bleeding out in Siberia left to die by his so called teammate. Tony shook his head, took a deep breath.
" okay spidey, i promise to not leave. Get me out of these and get me some water if you have. "
The kid immediately got him out of the binds with some dissolvent. He had to study that too.
The guy gave him some water from a back pack which was lying on the floor of some, Tony took a good look around, floor of some abandoned warehouse. Orignal.
After drinking his fill of water, Tony looked at he guy. " So what are we doing, spidey, i hope you have a plan?"
" I already told you Mr. Stark. I just have to make the avengers listen to me. Now that i have you they will have to listen. We just wait."
Tony let out a self-deprecating laugh nad said " Yeah, real solid plan there spidey. Except you seemed to have forgotten an important part. They don't care about me. So yeah, not gonna work"
" But, you.....you are Iron man, sir and you are a hero and their friend Mr. Stark. Of course they would care about you" The guy said it like Tony was just a child with self-esteem issues, like he was preplexed by the very idea of someone not caring about Tony Stark.
Tony almost wished that were true. " Whatever. I'm telling you as it is. You can believe me or not"
Tony was just realizing how much his whole body hurt from the battle and then getting knocked out has given him a killer headache. He knew without his suit he wasn't going to be able to fight a super powered guy. Moreover he seemed sweet enough. Tony was gonna sleep and hope all of this resolves itself tomorrow. By then the guy would have realized it was futile to try use Tony as a bargaining chip and hopefully would let him leave. Or maybe Tony will try buying his way out of this. Yay he will do that tomorrow.
He dragged the chair he had been tied to, to a corner and sat leaning on a wall. His eyes were getting heavy. He was even strangely feeling safe with spidey around. Weird. Maybe he was just too drugged up. He slowly lost himself to sleep feeling someone sit near him, softly running hands through his hair.

No Promises Ch2
Pairing: Michelle Jones/Peter Parker, Felicia Hardy/Michelle Jones (one-night stand), Michelle Jones/Harry Osborn (unhappily married)
(warning: this story contains angst and extramarital affairs.)
Inspired by Izmeny (TV Mini-Series 2015)
Read on AO3
Michelle has heard enough lies to tell them apart from the truths.
For example, many people would say that they believe marriage is the epitome of romance. That people get married because they’re oh-so in love.
Which she knows is not always the case, to say the least. She herself can attest to that.
She didn’t marry her husband because of love. In fact, she doesn’t think she has ever loved anyone.
She said yes when Harry proposed to her because she wanted a family.
And he did give her one. He’d even given up his own family to make that happen.
He was willing to do anything for her, so she thought she’d be a fool to not take advantage of that and let the opportunity slip away.
She would have felt guilty about her impure motive if the “I love you” that he said to her in his proposal didn’t turn out to be another blatant lie.
Michelle knows next to nothing of love, but she’s pretty sure that if you love someone, you’d at least care about them.
He never asks how her day went, whether she’s hungry or not, or what book she’s reading.
She has never once orgasmed during sex with her husband.
But she doesn’t mind all that much about his indifference. She’s incapable of loving and caring so why should she want those things from anyone, anyway?
Besides, she’s got Peter, who knows how to make her scream using his tongue only. Peter’s enough to make up for what she doesn’t get from Harry, to keep her sexually satiated.
And that’s exactly why she has once again found herself waiting for him in his empty apartment.
She’s been breaking her own rule quite a lot lately—probably has something to do with Harry’s increasing rate of absence from home.
She made the rule of not staying outside overnight because she’s afraid that Harry wouldn’t even care to ask where she had been. She figures that won’t matter if he’s not even at home to begin with.
It’s almost midnight. Peter’s still out there somewhere patrolling. It’s been three hours since their last text exchange.
The little grey bubble on the left side of the screen of her phone reads:
I’ll be back soon
So far, she can’t tell whether it’s a lie or not. Three hours isn’t long at all by Peter’s standards.
She puts down her phone after checking it for the sixth time tonight, then huddles under the blanket on the couch in front of the huge flat screen that’s glowing eerily with blue light in the dark living room.
She has already watched a whole bunch of murder documentaries in the past few hours, so she turns on the news just to switch things up a bit.
Nothing particularly interesting appears on the news. Not that she’s looking for a certain superhero who dons a red full-body spandex suit swinging between the buildings and saving people, no.
She just wants something—or someone—that can keep her mind busy so she doesn’t start contemplating how stagnant her life has been.
So she waits.
For one hour.
Then two hours.
And three hours have passed, but Peter’s still nowhere to be found.
You alright?
The message she sent an hour ago is still unread.
Her intense glare can burn holes through her phone if she were able to channel her irritation into actual laser beams.
The calming and relaxing effects of the apartment have faded by now. She’s getting crankier by the second and her desire to get laid is almost completely replaced by her desire to get a restful sleep.
If she’s not getting any tonight, then she might as well go home and sleep in her own bed, alone.
Because her motive for coming back to this apartment well after her job of interior designing was done is pure.
She doesn’t come to Peter again and again because she’s always worried that he might hurt himself fighting some supervillain. She didn’t learn how to stitch up a wound nicely just because of that one time he came back all bloody and it really scared her. She’s not trying to be a haven of peace for him or secretly hoping he’d trust her enough to confide in her.
All she wants from him is sex, and nothing more.
She wants to believe that these are all the truths. Because the alternative is that she loves other people more than they’ll ever love her, and that feeling really, really sucks.
§
The engine is rumbling and the headlights are on. Her car is all set and ready to take her home.
But Michelle’s been sitting behind the wheel for a good ten minutes, her body unmoving yet her mind unsettled. Every part of her body is buzzing with an unknown fear for an unanticipated future.
Somehow, it feels like the universe is trying to warn her against a storm that’s coming after her.
She’s afraid to make a move, but she doesn’t want to go back to where she was, either.
She’s drowned in her own thoughts until a sudden, loud bump startles her, followed by her car door being forcefully opened and an unfamiliar figure sliding into the passenger seat.
“What the-!? Get out of my car!” Michelle shouts at the person while discreetly reaching for the pepper spray she has in her bag.
That person turns to look straight into her face. Half of their face is covered in a mask and she can barely see in the dark, but she manages to make out the shape of their red lips twisting into a smirk.
“You mind if I borrow your car for a day or two? It’s kind of an emergency.” The woman’s voice is husky and breathy, sort of like a combination of whispering and panting.
“Actually I do mind,” Michelle’s voice is trembling due to the surging adrenaline, “and don’t make me say this again: get out.”
Her assertive statement is still hanging in the air when the woman’s arm moves at a surprising speed and agility, aiming at her airway.
Luckily, Michelle has seen that coming. She blocks the attack before locking the woman’s arm with one hand and pointing the spray at her face with the other.
The skills she learned from Peter does have some use, it seems.
The aggressor appears to be impressed, musingly laughed at herself.
Meanwhile, Michelle registers a scent of blood and she notices the black full-body suit that the woman’s wearing is torn at her thigh. A dribble of dark red liquid is slowly oozing from the wound.
Michelle winces at the sight. It reminds her of that time Peter came back in such bad shape that she was petrified for a good while.
“You’re bleeding. I think you should go to the ER.” Michelle says in a rather calm manner.
“No!” The woman hisses while putting pressure on her wound with her free hand.
Michelle sees how hard she’s trying to hide the discomfort from her expressionless yet ashen face and the droplets of sweat strolling down her forehead.
Then MJ says something that surprises the stranger as well as herself.
“Tell me where you want to go and I’ll drive you there.”
The woman’s whole body jolts as they look into each other’s eyes.
“How do I know if I can trust you?” The woman frowns.
MJ chuckles self-mockingly.
That’s one of the questions that she asks herself every now and then.
“Well, if you can’t trust me then my answer’s not gonna be very helpful, is it?”
The woman wars with herself until the sound of the siren can be heard from a distance. She then starts giving directions without further delay.
MJ drives her through the dark streets, mind blanking out and shivers crawling along her spine.
Driving a stranger who’s very possibly on the run to an unknown destination is dangerously thrilling.
And maybe that’s why she’s willingly doing this. Maybe that’s what she’s been longing for—the thrill.
That must be why she enjoys having sex with Peter so much. It gives her the strongest kind of thrill.
To MJ’s surprise, the woman leads them to an upscale apartment complex instead of some sketchy discarded warehouse that she imagined criminals would use as their evil lair. Given that the building has an intricately designed entrance upon entering the underground car park, she supposes the building does offer a great level of security and privacy a criminal needs.
The woman is hesitant when MJ gets off the car and offers to help her out.
But there’s something so confident and convincing about the way MJ carries herself that enables her to have her way almost all the time, including this time.
MJ supports her by her waist until they’re inside the woman’s apartment. She escapes MJ’s grasp and launches herself onto the U-shaped sectional sofa, then proceeds to fumble inside the drawer of the coffee table.
Being an interior designer herself, MJ’s interest is piqued more by the tasteful arrangement of the apartment’s living room than whatever the woman’s doing.
Her attention drifts away and she starts examining, analyzing and comparing the style with her own work. It’s more contemporary and polished compares to the industrial style of Peter’s apartment, but the artworks scattered around the space are raw and feral—reflecting the owner’s personality, she guesses.
“I don’t sleep with people on a first date, so this is your cue to leave. And don’t even think about paybacks, I don’t have cash.”
The woman’s flirty joke intrudes on her thoughts, bringing her attention back.
“I don’t want your money,” MJ says coolly.
“Then what do you want?” She sounds more defensive than earlier.
What do I want? Why am I even here?
MJ doesn’t know the answers. The only thing she’s certain is that this isn’t how the night was supposed to go.
Somehow her life always takes unexpected turns and leads her further astray.
MJ shrugs, “Nothing.” From her, at least.
“Then leave already.” The woman stands up and tries to shove her out the door, but stumbles in pain.
The way she’s limping reminds her of someone. MJ lurches forward to catch her out of instinct.
“Are you okay? Here, let me take a look at that.” MJ speaks softly.
“I’m fine. I can take care of myself.” The woman groaned, annoyed.
Still, she doesn’t push MJ away. MJ sits next to her on the sofa after helping her this time and takes a better look at the wound.
The cut isn’t too deep. She knows how to clean up the wound and close it with stitches.
“I can help.” MJ nods at her wound.
The woman’s frown deepens. She’s genuinely confused by MJ’s actions.
“Why are you helping a stranger?”
Why would anyone volunteer to help a stranger? MJ wonders that, too.
Is she trying to be a better person? Perhaps she’ll deserve better if she’s more like a certain friendly neighborhood superhero? Maybe, just maybe, for once in her life she wants to know what it feels like to be wanted and needed?
MJ doesn’t know the answer, so she only repeats:
“Let me help you.”
MJ’s persuasive eyes strike again. The assertive yet vulnerable quality of her tone makes it hard to resist her pleas.
She can make people fall under her spell easily, if she wants to.
Despite how defiant the woman has been, she does not prove that statement wrong.
She lets MJ clean up the dried blood, sterilize the adjacent area and suture the wound closed.
MJ’s maneuvers are skillful and precise, but her touches are gentle and careful, making the woman shivers involuntarily.
The treatment is completed, and that’s where MJ’s help is supposed to end.
But she doesn’t want to go back to that empty home just yet.
The woman’s about to remove her legs off of MJ’s thighs, but MJ holds her in place.
“You need help to get the spandex off?”
The woman arches her brow.
“You’re not seriously trying to get into my pants, are you?”
MJ stares at her. The woman’s face goes pinker the longer she holds her gaze.
It arouses her for some reason; she remembers how Peter gets easily flustered every time she teases him.
She was upset that her night didn’t go accordingly: she didn’t get what she wants from Peter tonight.
But who’s stopping her from having sex with someone else? Harry’s her husband, but he doesn’t care. Peter’s her favorite lay, but they don’t have contractual obligations to obey the monogamy.
“What if I am?”
MJ’s hand wanders around her thigh, carefully avoiding the wound. The woman squirms nervously under her touch, anticipating.
The texture of her spandex differs from Peter’s suit; her muscles are firm, but softer than Peter’s; the pitch of her quiet moans is higher than Peter’s.
But she’s here, and MJ can feel she wants her.
The woman gives in to her teasing, grabbing onto her shoulders and crashing her lips to MJ’s.
MJ kisses her back. Everything feels wrong, but it feels good to be wanted.
And that’s all she wants for now.

Psycho Analysis: Adrian Toomes
Tumblr media
(WARNING! This analysis contains SPOILERS!)
Not content with simply ruining his own life by creating enemies, Tony somehow managed to ruin the life of Peter Parker by creating both enemies he has faced so far. The first of these? Adrian Toomes, AKA Vulture.
Going in you wouldn’t be expecting much from this guy; in the comics, he’s just some crazy, bald geezer in a skintight suit wreaking havoc on the city and generally being a nuisance. In other words, Comic!Vulture kind of sucks. But Movie!Vulture, he demonstrably does not suck. He has an awesome suit salvaged from alien tech from the Battle of New York, he’s a good boss towards his men with one notable exception, and best of all, he’s an actual three-dimensional character who is not just being evil for the sake of the movie having a villain. In a lot of ways, Toomes is actually sympathetic, and almost all of this is owed to his brilliant actor.
Actor: That brilliant actor, by the way, is none other than Batman himself, Michael Keaton. Keaton has always been an excellent actor being able to bring his characters to life, and of course this is no exception; he turns one of Spidey’s most one-dimensional and simplistic foes into one of the MCU’s most engaging villains, with every scene of his completely stealing the show. Hell, Keaton doesn’t even need to speak to kill it with his performance; watch the scene where he’s in the car with Peter, that extended moment where it’s just his face acting as he pieces everything together… Keaton truly is something else.
Motivation/Goals: Toomes was once just a blue collar head of a salvaging company until Tony Stark’s Damage Control edged him out of the business after the Battle of New York. To be able to support his family and let them live comfortably, he turned to crime, stealing tech salvaged from superhero fights and selling it on the black market. What’s interesting to note here is that while it would be easy to write off his self-described motivation as a load of hogwash he tells to deflect blame from himself, he even makes this argument with people he would otherwise need no reason to lie to. It can thus be assumed that, yes, despite his shady methods, he does have a somewhat honorable goal. He’s been compared to other anti-villain criminals like Walter White or noble scoundrels like Robin Hood, and it is certainly an apt comparison on many levels.
Personality: Toomes may very well be one of the nicest, most principled, and most honorable villains in the entire MCU. While he definitely makes it clear how dangerous he is and outright tells Peter he will kill him if he has to, he is still courteous and grateful to Peter, thankful he saved his daughter’s life and expressing it in no uncertain terms that even if he won’t hold back if it comes to it, he really doesn’t want to kill Peter. And, most importantly, when Mac Gargan asks him at the end of the film if he knows Spider-Man’s identity, Toomes lies to protect Peter. He may have been too greedy for his own good in the end, but damn if he wasn’t an honorable man even at his lowest point.
Final Fate: Spider-Man ends up saving his life in the final battle and webs him up so he can be sent to jail, leaving Toomes free to return in any potential sequels.
Best Scene: Without a doubt, the car scene. It’s just such a brilliant moment, perhaps one of the best in all of the MCU if not superhero cinema as a whole. It’s so absolutely tense and uncomfortable you can feel the weight of what’s happening on your shoulders.
Best Quote: At the end of the car ride, Toomes has this to say to Peter: "And don't you ever, ever interfere with my business again, 'Cause if you do, I'll kill you, and everyone that you love. I'll kill you dead. That's what I'll do to protect my family. Pete, you understand?" The perfect capstone to an utterly tense and chilling scene.
Final Thoughts & Score: Toomes is not just an amazing villain; he’s a powerful statement. With custody of Spidey finally being joint between Marvel and Sony, Marvel could easily have utilized one of the more prominent and well-known foes of Spider-Man, such as Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, or Venom. Instead, Homecoming took one of Spider-Man’s most laughable and uninteresting foes, gave him a fresh coat of paint, and threw him out there to show that no, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was not a fluke, they are dead set on giving emotionally compelling and complex, three-dimensional villains to the audience. Toomes really set the bar high in terms of complexity, and while Ragnarok didn’t surpass it in an emotional sense (it’s villains are definitely the good kind of fun), Black Panther managed to, showing Marvel is willing to push its villains to new heights now more than ever. And don’t even get me started on Thanos!
Toomes is easily a 10/10, and is one of the best foes Tony inadvertently created. Seeing as he’s sandwiched between the extremely well-done villains Ego and Killmonger as well as the fun, campy villains Hela and Grandmaster, it’s astounding that Toomes can still find a leg to stand on to stand out in the crowd, but boy does he ever. Even now, with so many great villains added into the MCU, I’d still say Toomes rests in the top 5 or 10 greatest, and that’s so amazing considering this is the cinematic version of someone’s grandpa donning spandex and a feather boa to commit crime. This is the sort of character we’d expect to be Raimi!Venom, and instead we got Raimi!Doc Ock.

Blind Love - Part 1
Summary:  You have bad luck. Superheroes tend to show up where bad luck is.
  Pairing: Peter Parker x reader
Word Count: 1,160
Warnings: Swearing.
Tumblr media
You must have some sort of award for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
At first, it was outside the cute little café near your apartment complex. You had just walked out with a coffee in one hand and trying to put your change in your purse with the other, when a boy not much older than you zoomed past, one hand out to grab your purse as he kept running. You shrieked and dropped your coffee, hot beverage and coins spilling everywhere. You watched in horror, frozen still as he ran away, your little purse clutched in his hand.
My cash! Your mind screamed. Mom's credit card! My school ID!
Before you could even start to think about what you could do, something even crazier followed right after. There was a flash of red and a thud, followed by an oof, and the crook was lying on the ground with thin silver ropes…. webs?....holding him to the ground. The flash of red, which turned out to be a guy in a red and blue costume that clung to his skin, wrenched your purse free from his hand and walked over to you, holding it out.
“Ma'am, this is yours.” You stared at the purse and then at the big, white eyes of the mask. You grabbed it and nodded your head slightly.
“Thank you?” You weren't quite sure what had happened. People were starting to stand and stare. Your face burned hot under the attention.
The guy nodded and bounded away, shooting the same stuff from his hands and disappearing to god-knows-where before you had the chance to say anything else.
Of course, you'd looked him up as soon as you got back home. You found a couple of videos on YouTube of him swinging around. Some CCTV of him beating the crap out of some robbers at an ATM machine. They called him Spider-Man.
You leaned back on the headboard of your bed, staring at a still picture of his masked face.
That wasn't the last you would see of Spiderman, like you had assumed. You saw him less than two weeks later, when two men in black masks walked into the supermarket with small black guns in their hands. You stepped back from the counter in shock as they bounded through, one of them walked behind the counter, the gun pointed to the cashier, who had gone pale and lifted his hands up.
The other moved in front of the counter, shoving you away from it. You stumbled back, falling against a shelf.
The familiar flash of red was the next thing your mind registered, and the guys in a heap next to the shop door was the next.
“Didn't your mother ever teach you how to treat girls?” Spiderman said, and you realized just how young he sounded. He couldn't be much older than you.
The cashier was calling 911, and Spiderman was standing over you then, holding a hand out. You gingerly accepted it.
“Are you okay?”
You nodded. “Thank you.” It sounded more sure this time, though you hardly thought he would remember it. You could have sworn his cheeks twitched behind his mask though.
He disappeared just as quickly as he did last time.
Your life was officially a disaster.
Your cheek twitched in annoyance as a man pressed the barrel of a gun to your temple. The woman in front of you looked terrified, for you most probably. But you just wanted to yawn.
This was probably the third standoff you'd been in since the first one at the supermarket, and at this point, you were just bored. You couldn't understand what kind of game was at play with you being in situations like this so often. If you weren't so calm about the whole thing, you would be paranoid and trying to board yourself up in your house at all times. But you had shit to do and this was getting annoying.
You knew that at any moment, Spiderman would come crashing in and kick ass and carry you out of there, like a knight in shining armor.
Or a knight in shining spandex.
Whoop. There he was.
It spun off just as quickly as the last four times, before you know it, you were pulled from the thug behind you, into hands that were strong and firm, but not as rough. You smiled at the feeling.
Okay, so maybe you had a little crush on ‘Spiderman’. There was no reason anyone else should know about it though. They would think you were crazy, having a crush on someone and not even knowing what they looked like.
That did bother you a bit. But not enough to take away your infatuation. Not enough to make you like him any less.
“I feel weird letting you walk home alone.” The wind howled against your ears as he spoke. It seemed stronger and colder this far above the ground. “What with your tendency to be in dangerous situations at the worst times.”
You huffed out a laugh and shrugged. “Doesn't scare me anymore. I know you'll come along and save the day.”
There was a small silence.
“You really trust me that much?”
Sure, you couldn't see his face, but you could sense his body language. He sat with a little hunch, almost as if trying to fold in on himself so people wouldn't notice him, which meant he felt insecure.
“People don't trust you too often?”
Your enquiry seemed to catch him off guard, and he looked at you. Or so you assumed, since his head turned to you. You couldn't really see where he was looking.
“No, it's not that. It's just- They don't take me seriously, I guess.” He stared at his hands as he spoke.
You shrugged. “I don't blame them. I mean, yeah you're really strong and totally capable of handling trouble on your own. But you're just a kid. I'm not too surprised adults want to keep you out of things. That's what adults always do.”
“How'd you know I was a kid?”
You gave him a look, eyebrows raised. “Have you heard yourself talk?”
He laughed at that. “Fair enough.”
You sat in silence for a bit, looking at the people bustling around below you, their noise seemed far away. Everything was much more peaceful up here. You could understand why he liked it up here so much.
“Can you tell me your name?”
You heard his breath hitch in the quiet, and wondered if you had gotten too personal. He spoke up just as you started to apologize.
“Peter.”
You smiled a bit, not looking at him. “Peter,” you tested out. “I'm Y/N.”
He looked at you then. “Hi Y/N.”
You giggled. “Hi.”
Despite the layer of cloth keeping you from seeing him, you could tell there was a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face.

And You Would Smile (And That Would Be Enough) 5/6
5 times Tony helps pull Peter away from an anxiety built cliff and the 1 time Peter is on his own. (part i, part ii part iii, part iv, part vi)
FF.net I ao3
Peter’s vision was swimming.
He blinked once, twice, three times before the world shifted again and came back into focus.
The teenager was standing in a dark corridor with coppery walls. Or where was the taste in his mouth coming from? His left hand reached out to touch his mouth only to find his skin hitting the cool fabric of his Spider-Man suit. He must be wearing the mask, he realized, and let his hands drop to his side at his find.
If he was in the suit then he must be on a mission. There must be something more important going on than finding out where the coppery taste was coming from.
Peter narrowed his eyes, frantically beating heart settling when his suit complied with the movement. There was always a scarcely audible whirring to be heard when the suit’s eyes moved. It was familiar. Calming. His suit was working so he had to be relatively safe. He was Spider-Man after all and he had a suit with the latest Stark technology.
Some of the fear that had taken up residence in his stomach left his body with his next exhale.
“Hello?” he called out and flinched when his voice echoed through the empty hallway, bouncing off the walls until eventually fading into silence once more. “Someone home?”
His feet started moving, hesitantly at first and then more decisively when nothing bad seemed to happen. The sound of his footsteps lingered in the air, making a weirdly uncomfortable melody that trailed behind him and raced him to go faster, to reach the end of the hall.
Peter knew that he had to reach the end of the hall. There was a soft blue light coming from the door this corridor led to and that light felt important. It was his mission to reach the light that was pulsating at a steady frequency. Somehow, he felt that the light needed his protection.
He had almost reached the door with the light when his enhanced hearing picked up on a painful huff. With the scream the light pulses became more erratic, too, urging him on. The sound sent chills through his entire body and, when his brain registered just why the voice sounded so familiar, it ripped straight through his heart, leaving him feeling raw and helpless.
“Tony?” he called, his wobbly voice echoing from the walls, mocking him in tiny whispers from a million different directions. He strained his ears to pick up on a reply but there was nothing.
He had almost convinced himself that his senses were playing a trick on him when the sound came back, a lot closer and sounding a lot more in pain. The light stuttered slightly before returning to a steady but faster pace.
Without a second thought he ran the last distance until his hand was on the door knob, his last obstacle before reaching the blue light and his mentor. He thrusted the door open with all his might, not caring when the wood splintered and the force took it off its hinges.
There, separated from him through a glass pane, sat Tony. The light of the arc reactor in his chest filling the room with an absurd calm considering how weakly it fluttered just then.
For an unbearable second Peter was afraid it would fade completely.
But Tony was still breathing, although the rales that he picked up on through the pane didn’t sound very encouraging. He ran forward, willing the blue light to keep pulsating and his mentor to look up.
“Tony!” he screamed, fists hitting the glass pane over and over again, yet it wouldn’t budge. Not even a crack in the smooth surface. The refraction of light through the glass looked mockingly beautiful. As if it was any condolence for Peter as long as Tony was still barely breathing. As long as he still looked mostly dead.
“Please, Tony! Look at me,” he cried again, not caring about the tears that slipped out and ran down his cheeks. His hands were busy trying to make it through to his mentor.
Please don’t be dead. Please don’t be dead. Please –
A shudder went through the billionaire’s entire body then and there was nothing he could do but pray for the light to keep glowing and – oh god, his limbs were flailing uncontrollably and his head kept hitting the hard cot until the spasm died done.
Peter screamed. Tony looked up. Their eyes met.
“Tony!” he tried again to get through to the pane, not knowing how much the older man could pick up. His eyes widened and at first Peter was so sure it was in recognition but then he tried to scramble away from him in fear, rattling at the metallic cuffs constraining him to the cot and Peter had to watch in horror when he struggled enough to turn the cot on its side. Tony fell but he didn’t seem to care, fearful eyes still looking up at Peter.
“No! I- It’s me, Tony!” he cried out, pulling off the mask in a swift motion but before his mentor could see his face, his attention was otherwise occupied
Captain America had entered the room, lips curling up in a humorless snarl that made a shiver run down Peter’s spine. He looked positively evil when he turned to look at Peter for the fraction of a second before squatting down next Tony to all but throw the cot back up again.
Tony’s fear was replaced by anger. His eyes were flashing with unadulterated rage in a way Peter had never ever seen and his fists were curling at his sides, struggling to fight free once more.
“I trusted you,” he spit out but Captain America only laughed when Tony coughed up blood and gunk.
Before Captain America could get a word out, Peter was yelling again, doubling the forces of his punches against the glass until – finally – a crack.
“Don’t hurt him,” he kept screaming, “Don’t you fucking touch him. Don’t- Tony!”
Without batting an eye Cap slammed down his shield onto the weakly fluttering light and Peter, still on the other side of the pane, could do nothing but watch and scream and riot when it flickered before going black.
The American superhero was towering over the lifeless form of the man that had become his family and, without so much as looking at Peter, he turned and left Tony behind.
Peter was frozen.
Then he crumbled.
“No!” He cried out over and over again, to no avail. “No, Tony! Tony! Don’t! Noo-“
Suddenly there was a strong grip on his shoulders but he was too far gone. He didn’t want anyone to comfort him. He wanted Tony to be alive. He wanted-
With all his might he struggled against the other person’s hands until he heard a curse.
“Dammit, kid.”
“Tony.”
“Right here, buddy. Go on, open your eyes. Admire the shiner you gave your old man.”
The teenager came back to himself slowly, blinking warily against the bright lights until he could get his eyes to focus on the person in front of him. The air left his lungs in a painful gasp. “Tony.” Before he could grab at the man, he was already sitting down beside him, inviting Peter to curl around his upper body. Which he did without hesitation.
He was still shaking and the image – it had seemed so real, so final.
Tony held him while he cried, his heartbeat steady and not connected to any sort of blueish light. It still had time. So much time.
Tony was really here. He could feel the calloused fingers against the soft skin of his neck and smell the motor oil and his cologne. He could hear his even breathing and the very real taste of his salty tears. And when he blinked, Tony was looking at him with the softest expression he had ever seen, only marred by the deep lines of worry on his face.
“Better?” he asked after a moment and Peter nodded but didn’t make a move to uncurl from the billionaire.
“You wanna talk about it?” The voice didn’t really leave room for him to actually deny. Postpone maybe but not completely deny.
He shrugged instead and settled his cheek more firmly against his mentor’s chest, letting his eyes drop close to the feeling of being secure and both of them being away from harm.
“Saw Cap hurt you,” he mumbled into the soft fabric of Tony’s t-shirt, half hoping the man hadn’t heard him, half hoping for reassurance that the guy clad in the American flag hadn’t really done any harm.
“Oh buddy, you’re having nightmares about that now?” Tony’s voice was soft but sad as his fingers skillfully rubbed the nape of his neck, “I told you it’s going to be fine. I thought me allowing you to tag along would help you relax a little. Maybe it was a bad ide-“
“No,” Peter interrupted him, arms coming up to hold onto his mentor back more tightly, “No, it’s not a bad idea, I promise.”
“Okay,” Tony said reluctantly but didn’t further comment on it, opting to distract him from the lingering horror of his nightmare instead. “You wanna go in there as New York’s favorite vigilante in spandex or like a normal human being?”
Despite himself Peter cracked a smile. It faded the second he remembered the fear in Tony’s eyes in his nightmare. He shuddered. “N-not in the suit,” he said quietly, “If that’s okay?”
The older man paused the massage on his scalp, clearly trying to figure out what was wrong with the suit, but eventually shrugged and resumed what he was doing. “Sure thing, kiddo. I’ll introduce you as my genius intern who’s freaking out about meeting the Avengers for the first time. We might be able to score you an autograph.”
“You suck.” Peter slapped Tony’s chest lightly, his words holding no force. “I’d like going in as Peter Parker,” he yawned, making himself more comfortable in Tony’s hold. He smiled when the other man adjusted his position, clearly not intending to leave Peter alone for now.
“Sleep, kid. Tomorrow’s gonna be a big day for both of us.”
---
I'm sorry! Peter was supposed to meet the rest of the Avengers in this chapter but I couldn't physically bring myself to write the words. I tried like three times but it just wouldn't work. I'm really sorry because I know people were looking forward to that but I would've messed it up and I kind of actually liked the dream sequence so I'm leaving you with this. x

Concerning Peter
Tumblr media
idk, but I listened to the whole Blonde album and some channel Orange  All of this is Peter bt
You love Peter Parker, and he was a not so subtle crush on you, the only problem is that he’s your best friend’s ex.
word count- 1.3k
// Masterlist // part one //part two // part three  // part five // series masterlist
Peter gasped, opening and closing his mouth like a fish out of water. Your confession literally stopped his heart, but it also resurrected him, or maybe that was oxytocin high.
“Y/N, I-”
His phone ringing snapped him out of his trance, he looked down, it was Ned. Probably something to do with Spiderman. He answered it as quickly as he could, not even thinking of the now emotionally vulnerable (yn) sitting across from him. Ned sounded panicked and eager “Robbery on 35th!” and he hung up.
He grabbed all of his stuff and sprang up, about to walk out before he realized that you were still at the table. Confusion and sadness glossing over your already slightly red eyes. He sent you a smile, hoping it didn’t come out looking more pitiful than it did embarrassed. You were the first to break the eye contact, Peter’s heart yearned to see your eyes again. With a sigh, he walked out and once far enough, changed into his Spider-Spandex and whipped through the air to 35th.
“Dude! You’re literally the dumbest person I’ve EVER met!” Ned screamed at him. Peter explained after the robbery that you had confessed your feelings for him, and how he just abandoned you rather than confess himself. Peter sat on a fire escape about 200 feet in the air, letting Ned just lecture him, and Ned did. He ripped him a new one, ever since he started dating Betty Brant, romance has been his thing, a self-claimed love doctor of sorts.
“I know! I know- I just...panicked” he sighed, wondering what you could possibly be thinking. Most likely hating him, getting out your feelings by lying on your bed listening to Frank Ocean or something, most likely some love songs, making his apparent rejection sting even more, you were known to be self-destructive like that.
“You will literally be the reason that (YN) looks back on her high school and becomes sad, even though, statics say, that it should have been some of the best years of her life!” Ned might’ve exaggerated a bit on that last part, but Peter knew he deserved it. Despite being the top student in his class, he was an idiot.
He spent the last two hours thinking about you, successfully distracting him from his usual crime fighting. Thinking it was late and his mind was wondering too much for him to actually put away the creepers of the night, he headed in the direction of his apartment. He settled on his fire escape, taking off his mask as he was opening the window one-handed.
May was standing in his room as he not so skillfully snuck in. Her hands were on her hips, one holding a familiar blue jacket. This only slightly distracted him from the look on her face. His aunt had a look of disappointment on her face, along with hints of concerns and a dash of annoyance. He suddenly went back into everything he had done in the past week, thinking he was in trouble.
“Wanna explain to me why (yn) showed up, almost in tears on the doorstep?” She raised her eyebrow, putting on her “parent face”, she’s been practising as he cowered under her gaze. Peter stood silent, in the middle of his room, the spiderman mask awkwardly hanging in his hand.
“Well, she told me that you left this- when you practically sprinted away from her.” May threw a hoodie at him, he caught the blue fabric easily, still too scared to talk. “I don’t know what you did, but work it out, hear me? You and (yn) are good for each other.” she walked towards Pete’s bedroom door and just as she closed it, she peaked her head in. “Also, tell her that you are like in love with her” Peter’s eyes widen, blood rushing to his cheeks and ears. “C’mon Peter, you’re terrible at keeping secrets”, with that she slammed the door closed and walked down the hall to her bedroom.
Peter sighed and plopped on his bed, taking off the suit in the process. Everyone else seemed to notice his feelings for you expect for you. And now, sitting on his bed, the blanket only have on him and too lazy to actually put on real pyjamas (besides the random sweatpants on his floor), he realized something. Maybe you did, but didn’t act on them because of Tris! Or maybe you thought that him liking you back was too good to be true, or some other excuse that Peter conceived… and now he was in actually experiencing those teen dramas that he shamefully binged watched during the summer and weekends, something that only his aunt knew, as she watched them with him. The two of them started on the oldest Degrassi, something that he knew you loved. Actually, looking around Peter’s room, he realized that everything reminded him of you. The photos, Star Wars posters, random little do-dads that you have given to him over the years.
Of course, he could fix this, he was Spiderman. He was everyone’s favorite neighborhood Spiderman. This gave him a burst of confidence, he would talk to you tomorrow, confess to you in a dramatic fashion that will surely make it up to you. It works in movies, right? Peter pushed the realization that you were an actual human being, not scripted and would most likely react badly to his late-blooming confession of love to the back of his head, he kept living his fantasy that it would turn out great. You would forgive Peter and get together, go to MIT together and you’d work for Stark Industries with him and get married and- Peter fell asleep.
It definitely, wasn't like the movies- at all.  Peter woke up earlier than usual, feeling anxious as ever. I mean, who wouldn’t? He decided that some small crime fighting would help his anxieties concerning you. He grabbed a pop tart from the kitchen and dressed in his super suit. He left a note for May, knowing she would freak if she didn’t know where Peter was that morning. Climbing out slowly, he glanced around the city, a wide grin overcoming his face. He slipped on his mask and shoot the web- swinging into the rising sun.
Peter noted that it was kinda slow, and it now being almost 11, his stomach urged him to find some early lunch. He listened. Not even bothering to take off his whole suit, he climbed back into his apartment, May greeting him from the couch, watching some random game show. He mindlessly opened the fridge and grabbed the first thing that seems appetizing, that being some leftover pizza from two days ago. He ate it in silence, the slightly awkward, yet calming tension easing over the apartment. May looked like she wanted to say something, but she kept her mouth shut, leaving Peter to his thoughts, which were all about you. He turned down the hallway into his room, grabbing some clothes for the day and heading to shower.
The rest of the time spent at his apartment and to your apartment was a blur, one minute he was drying his hair, the next walking to your door. He knocked, hoping that the black Chevy that famously belonged to your dad, wasn’t your dad’s. The door cracked, Peter was still holding onto the hope that it was you.
Hoping would prove to be unuseful. As the door opened all the way, and view of the inside of your apartment blocked by your father, who did not look happy.

aut neca aut necare: I
Peter Parker x Fem!Reader
*Please don’t plagiarize my work, thank you :3*
Summary:  Spidey believes in her, although he was his doubts about her intentions. If she’d known those doubts would be her downfall she’d have acted better.
Warnings: Cursing, implied bullying, but this is actually pretty fluffy. For now.
Words: 1,908
Prologue                                                          Next Chapter
Kimberly wasn’t the only looming threat to you anymore. I mean, she’s up there. You thought. She’s like in the top five. Maybe three. Your fingers tingled with energy all the time now, as if any movement too sudden would trigger a chain reaction. It already happened a few times; you would let go and something in the room would fly into a wall and shatter. That was only at your apartment thought; your mother was yet to see these new abilities, thank god. So far, you’d gotten through most of school without an accident. It didn’t help that Kimberly was in half your classes, eyes boring into the back of your head.
“You okay?” Peter asked softly, poking your arm. Your head snapped at the sound of his voice, another thing you hadn’t learned to control: the odd but pleasant fluttering in your chest when he spoke. A feeling that, by the way, someone shouldn’t be having for her best friend. Despite your face heating up, you convinced yourself it was nothing. Maybe I’m getting sick. Mum did forget to stop by the drug store. She probably didn't go on purpose, just ‘cause we had that fight...
“Yeah. Just tired.”
“Cool, cool.” Peter mumbled, somewhat awkward. He glanced sideways at you from his book. “You can talk to me, y’know? The whole lab accident made you, uh, quiet.”
“I’m fine, Peter.”
“I know.” He defended, earning a glare from the librarian. “I’m only reminding you that we’ve been best friends for six-”
“Seven.”
“Seven years now.” He finished, closing his book. “If you don’t tell me all your secrets then I’m- I’m just plain hurt, (Name).”
He feigned pain and you flicked his cheek, chuckling under your breath. “Okay you cocky asshole, I got it. Nothing’s wrong, ‘m fine.”
You felt Kimberly’s eyes on you once again, even without looking back. They felt like lasers on the back of your head, slowly burying into your skull. The bell rang and you hopped up, grabbing your pre-packed backpack and tapping your foot as Peter got his.
“See you tomorrow Peter!”
You burst through the school’s back door, already excited for later tonight. Sure, your “super-suit” was handmade and obviously stitched together, but it let you wander the streets of Queens at night without being detected.
“Spidey!” You shouted joyfully, dangling your legs over the side of the building. The Bug Boy landed beside you gracefully, probably showing off his skill. He was already a two years into being Spiderman, and had figured out all the possible secrets in his new suit.
“Hey.” Spidey said, trying and failing to casually lean against some support railing. His elbow slipped and he stumbled, managing to catch himself before a faceplant. You laughed loudly, slightly muffled by your mask. Spidey’s eyes widened with embarrassment, making you laugh even harder. The only non-perfected part of his suit were the eyes; they were comical and expressive, hardly fitting his new “darker, more mature” look.
“Are you sure you’re a trained super?” You ask as he plops down beside you.
“Pshh! Shut up.”
He’s pouting playfully under his mask, you can tell. “Aren’t you gonna teach me something today?”
“Oh yeah! Right. How’s your flying?”
You turned away to look at the skyline, the sun barely peeking from behind skyscrapers. Of course the smokestacks in the distance were less than ideal, but they, along with the smog they created, were a black outline against a fiery sunset. You could feel Spidey’s lenses focus on you, and you wondered why he bothered to look at you when the sky was this beautiful. “I...haven’t really tried it since last time?”
“Wh- Sunshine, you said you’d practice!”
You lifted the bottom of your mask and stuck out your tongue. “Don’t call me sunshine!”
“Alright Sunshine. Wanna go practice?”
“Oh fuck you.”
Spidey giggled, already standing on the ledge. “How very hurtful. C’mon, show me your progress.”
You looked down over the ledge, the dumpster at the bottom looking more and more disgusting by the second. Spidey gave you a thumbs up. Rolling your eyes, you pushed yourself off the ledge.
Oh.
Oh god.
Oh no-
Time slowed down as you fell, the wind rushing through your open fingers. Your eyes watered, but you kept going. Spiderman sat anxiously at the top of the building, waiting to swing down and catch you when you screamed the codeword for stop. Despite the wind pushing against your chest, you managed to breathe in and concentrate as the asphalt grew closer and closer. You were less than two stories away from the ground and then-
Your body dissolved into dark blue smoke. Spidey whooped once and threw himself off the ledge, swinging after you. You traveled in a sort of billowing smoke, not really a cloud but not mist. The smoke flew low over the ground, out of the alley and onto a road and- Headlights emerged out of nowhere. You veered up to avoid a truck, momentarily transforming back to human form mid-air, two stories over the bustling road. You began to drop, flailing your limbs like a trapped bug, trying to get back into smoke form.
“Spidey!” You screamed, preparing to be flattened by the ground and then run over by a car. A web stuck to your back, yanking you up like a bungee jumper. One arm hooked around your waist and pulled you to a nearby fire escape.
“You okay?” Spidey asked frantically, patting you down for wounds. You wrinkled your nose inside your mask, still breathing heavily from the fall. Sometimes Spiderman sounded suspiciously like Peter. The way he said things, his funny accent, the little stutter he had all reminded you of Peter. But Spidey obviously wanted his identity a secret, and you did yours.
“Perfect.” You wheezed out. “A bit winded.”
“That was great though!” He exclaimed. “You were flying! It doesn’t obey any laws of science but that is the coolest shit I’ve ever seen!”
You clung to the railing of the fire escape, red paint chips sticking to your sweaty palms. “I looked like a Death Eater back there!”
One of Spidey’s eyes got wider while the other squinted, meaning he was raising an eyebrow at you. Cheeky shit. “You looked like a blue cloud.”
“Oi! Don’t ruin my fun.”
The truck you almost ran into was backing up into oncoming traffic, having driven out of its lane to avoid hitting you. The driver, along with people from several other cars, were cursing loudly at each other, almost completely forgetting the weird girl who fell from the sky. Ah, New York. What a magical place. You were about to suggest another go when several black vans drove past the building, all of them following a sleek sports car. Spiderman and you shared a look and nodded. You were about to jump from the fire escape when he put an arm forward to stop you.
“Maybe I should carry you.” He suggested, smirking playfully under his mask.
“I can’t have you carry me every time Spidey!” You whined. He slipped an arm around your waist again.
“Only until you get a hold of your powers Sunshine.” He said, already swinging off the fire escape and onto the streets. He swung after the vans, the streets becoming narrower and dirtier as they sped into the beacy area of Brooklyn. You realized before him that the vans were heading towards the docks, and that they were probably carrying some sort of cargo.
Spiderman landed on a storage container and let you down, both of you crouching down to see men in dark clothing get out of the vans. They opened the back of their vans, beginning to unload crates and odd shapes wrapped in sheets.
“What d’you think they’re handling?” Spidey whispered, his eyes glued to the men. You shrugged, watching them walk with the heavy objects across the dock and to a good container boat.
“You dealt with somethin’ like this before, right?” You whispered back. “With Adrian Toomes? Looks like they’re doing the same thing.”
“Hopefully not.”
The built-in phone inside his suit rang, and Spiderman mumbled a sorry to you before accepting the call with a simple voice command, which was incredibly cool. You heard the distant chatter of a woman. Spiderman nodded a couple times and ended the call.
“Shit, sorry,” He apologized, aiming his wrist at the storage container the two of your were hiding on.  “Gotta go. I- I’ll stick a tracker on this thing so we don’t get lost t’morrow.”
“No, I’ll do that.” You said. “D’you have the more easily tracked devices Tony Stark gave you?”
“You- shouldn’t have that…” He said uncertainly.
“I’m not going to die if you give me on of your gadgets, Spidey. Cough it up.”
“What do you need it for?” He asked suspiciously, narrowing his eyes at you.
“I’m going to stay back and set it up on this container.” You lied easily, not having to think twice. “It takes time, right? Not as simple as your old trackers.”
He typed something into his wrist and a little mechanical spider hopped onto your hand, crawling around in small circles. “Alright… Be careful. Don’t hurt yourself! Don’t die!”
You rolled your eyes. “Bye Spandex.”
He jokingly flipped you off and climbed off the container, silently swinging back to the city. You poked the little spider in your hand, watching it scurry around, waiting for directions. “C’mon little guy. Let’s get you in position.”
You double tapped the spider’s abdomen and it froze, a little holographic projection being played from its eight eyes. Ducking down lower, you began to type out directions to the reactive machine, selecting the camera, GPS and heat/chemical sensitivity options. You double tapped the bug again and it sprung back to life, jumping off your palm and running to the men unloading cargo. Sliding a finger over the silver cuff on your wrist, you were able to see a hologram from the spider’s point of view, as well as several maps and body temperature signals.
“Perfect.” You whispered gleefully as the spider crawled up a man’s pant leg. A piece of loose rusted metal skidded away when your foot hit it, creating a loud metal ‘clunk’.
“Who’s out there?” One of the men called out, walking closer to your container. He carried a gun in hand, his finger pressuring the trigger. You tried to crawl off the back of the container but the man scaled it in an instant, noticing you as you jumped onto another stack of crates.
“Someone’s been watching!” was all you needed to know before you started to sprint, leaping from crate to shipping container to, finally, the ground. The man from before fired a shot at the ground, narrowly missing your feet. Come on! You urged yourself. Now would be a great time for me not to fail at smoke form! You dodged another shot which hit an old boxcar train only inches away. For a few seconds your fear was replaced by anger; these men were firing bullets at a kid. Then of course, you remembered that your suit masked everything, including your age. You felt your body become light as it took smoke form, flying higher into the city.
The men shouted threats into the night sky, and a single camera flash went off before you disappeared behind an office building.
