I wanna talk about Agatha All Along for a minute-- no spoilers. It's been my new fave these days, to the point I'm ravenous for new episodes as soon as I finish one. I've been examining why I enjoy it so much, and I've come up with a couple of things.

It's female led. So often in any media, but marvel specifically in this case, the women are overlooked in terms of screentime and character development. But here we have a roster of strong female characters with distinct personalities and motivations and backstories that are compelling and engaging. I actively want to learn more about them, and when I'm watching them I am wholly engrossing in who they are.

It's largely a standalone. Sure, it spawned from Wandavision, but honestly I don't remember much of it and don't find myself needing to in order to follow what's happening and understanding the plot. Marvel has largely gone stale for me in the sense that I recently haven't seen anything that hasn't needed 10 movies worth of previous story in order to understand. Having something this self-contained is a breath of fresh air.

It's queer. I think we have Disney's official first queer character on screen, and we also have whatever is going on with Agatha and Rio. Love love love it. It feels natural, unforced, and genuine. Less a performance of queerness and instead a simple act of just being queer and loving who you love. Even beyond marvel, that feels rare in and of itself.

Honestly, I can't recommend it enough. If you've been on the fence thus far, or have been holding off because it's yet another Marvel property.... it's worth it, trust me. I was hesitant, but the risk in watching it paid off a hundred fold. I am so into this show guys.

aaauughhhh GOD this song is perhaps the most incredible vibe i found this year, i think. won't be everybody's cup of tea but it's definitely mine. simultaneously so utterly haunting but a stone cold powerful sound, and so many violently emotive lyrics that it's nearly impossible to pick just one section. shipwrecks, feral creatures, religious references, consensual intimacy as violence, the holofernes line.. just like... damn

i also want to make this super clear:

the comic i'm working on for this is awtdy au related (though you could read it as general), but it utilises only the final lyrics about the god-child and the overall frightening/ominous vibe. it doesn't use any of the other lyrics that are more explicit or about relationships at all.

i would not really say that the rest of the song suits the au, i just enjoy the sound of it!

both adonis and arashi have white (pure) 5* mv outfits and black (impure) SCR outfits in their center song events. both the Mystic Fragrance song and the Love & Beast drama involve opposing natures / dual personalities symbolized by these white and black outfits — adonis’ character grapples with the innocent inogari and the beast, and mystic fragrance has odile and odette, the white and black swans. both songs are departures from their units’ usual themes — forbidden rain is all about restraint and loving someone so much that you sacrifice this love to keep them safe (more akin to Knights’ themes of knighthood and self-sacrifice), while mystic fragrance is all about casting off the fake layers of yourself, giving into desire, and living as your truest self, even if it’s “selfish” or “impure” (more akin to UNDEAD’s usual songs). both adonis and arashi are transgender. in this essay i will—
