also im so sick of the acne like its so annoying and its such bullshit bc im not on t anymoreee i havent been for months so can we wrap it up I know my hormones r all over the place bc i was on and off t so willynilly for a while but now i have been off t for like. literally a year atp i think. so we should be settled and that means acne you may leave
#i didnt even have acne during my like. first puberty. granted i started t when i was 16 (january 28th 2021 if you were curiousssss.#it was such a niiiiiiice dayyyyy and i had on my favorite skirt and i was so happy abt starting t and then my granny suddenly died. which#obv sad but like tactically it was very helpful on her part bc now ill always remember the day i started t.#but ya. and then i was on and off it A TON mainly for like. insurance reasons and then like me being shitty at taking medication#consistently. iam happy with the changes but i also feel like i like. well yk i wanna go back on it eventually. but i have had some changes#my voice is def deeper than it would be i have my shitty tstache i think my face looks more masc Mostly bc everybody spontaneously started#telling me i look like my dad. and other changes but were in polite company. so im not going to talk about my penis. KJBFSIUBFEJB but ya.#but the fucking acne likee. i didnt have any during my first puberty aside from like. id occasionally get ONE smack dab between my eyebrows#or on the tip of my nose. very rarely id get both at the same time#but now my cheeks r like the fucking mountains. and i donot like ittt bc idk why. ik acne is genetic and theres nothing bad abt having acne#i jsut dont understand why i do and i am insecure abt it . i apologize .#idk. maybe my facewash is actually hurting bc recently my nose hass been feeling a bit dry after using it#i also dont shower enough. ik acne is genetic and not a cleanliness thing necessarily but i do need to shower more thats just a thing abt m#doing a silly little jig I struggle with hygiene bc im mentally ill. you know. basically IDKKK#i only wash my face once a day (on good days . when i do my morning and night routines)#and then in the mornings i just do water. yk... i only use the actual wash at night. but idkkkkk#+ i probably do have acne scars. i cant tell bc of The acne but i am The picker .. sigh . its ok. im working on achieving neutrality with#all of that so my tactic is to be like I will have acne scars bc i picked at my face. and i try not to attach anything else to that#statement i just try to be like well this because that. and im working on that for everything like. yk. I always get weird abt talking abt#it esp nowadays bc my brain gets mad at me for 'failing' it (tbc its a good thing i failed it) but yk. it helps with the that stuff ...

My Personal Goal Progress and Steps to Achieving Them: Part 1, Reading
Hello there. For today’s article, I decided to talk about what my personal goals are and how I plan to go about reaching them.
I’ve realised that I’ve made a lot of content on creating goals, but I haven’t shown how it works for me with real life examples. Maybe showing this little insight in my life will help you manage your own goals better.
My Goals for 2022-end
* Read 6 books
* Lose 5 inches off my lower waist
* Get rid of acne scars
* 20 Medium articles by the end of the year
* Go back to playing tennis
* Be able to read the language I’m studying fluently
Reading 6 Books
I chose six books because I’d rather read six books diligently and properly than read 10 books in a rush. I’ve chosen works that I’ll actually enjoy.
Reading List:
1. The Art of Seduction
2. What They Don’t Teach You at Harvard Business school
3. Power of pussy
4. Ho tactics
5. Why Men Love Bitches
6. Lean start up
7. Zero to one
8. How to sell anything to anybody
9. The Sweet Spot- how to accomplish more by doing less
10. The 10x Rule
I like a mix of psychology, relationships, business, finance and personal growth.
I have a kindle which allows me to carry all my books wherever I like, and fits perfectly in one of my mini Coach purses.
Often, when I read something and find something interesting, I’ll take a picture and send it to a friend or my mom so that we can talk more about it. I’ve noticed that really encourages me to read more.
Sometimes, especially in financial and business books, some concepts can be a bit more challenging to understand. If I can’t put the book down and explain it to an imaginary person in the room, I take it as I haven’t understood the concept properly yet.
I often highlight paragraphs that I find interesting and can refer back to while writing articles. It gives me more content, another great factor to read.
So how do you start?
- start with something as small as 5 pages. I think that’s very doable.
- I don’t think timing your reading is a good idea because the timer will break your flow of reading. I think the number of pages/ chapters makes more sense.
- Mark things that you find interesting. If you have no one to share things to, send them over to me! It doesn’t matter if we don’t know each other.
- If you used to read a lot as a child and stopped as you grew older, I noticed that reading the things you read as a child could help you get back on track. I loved books as a kid. I struggled finding the time to read in high school but got back to it in college because I began with my favourite subject- fiction. I read a couple of Enid Blyton books again, cover to cover, to “warm up.” That gave me confidence that I haven’t lost interest in reading, I just need to warm up and expand more.

Congrats bestie!
💚 for academic rivals to lovers
Thank you! <3 <3 <3
Okay, I'll name the characters Y and W and use they/them pronouns for both because it's gender neutral (feel free to replace them with any other names/pronouns in your head as you read). Enjoy!
Y
I can't believe this is happening. It feels like every hope I've ever had has been trampled and crushed to a pulp. Every bit of sun in the sky is shrouded by dark, dark clouds. Every cell in my body-
"Oy! Stop that!" V says, smacking me on the arm.
"Hey! What was that for?" I say, rubbing my arm, he (V) works out way too much.
"I know you're dramatising everything in your head. It's not that big a deal, W just got half a mark more than you," he says narrowing his eyes at me, already knowing how I'll react.
"It's not just half a mark. It's half a mark! And it's more! It doesn't matter by how much!" I'm indignant, V just doesn't get it. He isn't that focused on academics and he doesn't have an academic nemesis like I do!
He just sighs. I know he's annoyed, this is our daily, sometimes even hourly ritual.
"And you want to know what the worst part is?!"
"I don't, but I'm sure you'll tell me."
I ignore that and continue, "They got that extra half mark by arguing with the teacher, and when I tried to do the same, the teacher told me that she can't just give extra marks to everyone! How is that fair?!" I'm a little out of breath, and I know my eyes are wide and my cheeks are flushed.
"Okay, come on, I can barely deal with this on a full stomach, so I certainly can't with it on an empty one. Let's go for lunch," he says wrapping one hand around my wrist so we don't get lost in the crowd and tugging me to lunch.
***
We have physics next and they're in it. They who must not be named, oh screw that, it's W. We've been arch-nemeses from 1st grade. It all began when they finished a colouring activity before me, turned to me and stuck their tongue out at me. Oh, to lose would have been one thing but the humiliation of being made fun of for it, and to add insult to injury the teacher displayed their colouring sheet on the wall and not mine. Granted theirs was way neater, but it's the principle of the matter.
They take a seat right at the front as usual. And I take mine adjacent to them but far enough that they can't sabotage me. As the teacher drones on and writes derivations on the board, my mind drifts and lands on W, as usual. Soon my eyes have followed.
How can they just sit there with their perfect braids and soulful deep brown eyes- it's just infuriating! I memorise all their features as if there'll be a test on it soon (it'll probably be useful in some way). Brown skin, lightened acne marks, heart shaped scar near their forehead, sharp eyebrows, big nose, wide mouth for evil smiles (Y, their smiles are not evil, the V in my head says). Even this is unfair, they're just sit there paying attention to class and they look so- ugh!
I quickly switch my attention back to the teacher. For all I know this could be a scheme to distract me. The rational part of me says that this is how they look everyday, but the rest of me insists that they probably just look this striking to distract me.
I feel their eyes on me so I quickly turn to look at them. They stare deeply into my eyes (I'm drowning in them, this is definitely a distraction tactic). Then they offer me a smile, a small goading smile and look back at the teacher. I'd almost say they were blushing because their neck looks red, but I know they're not. They're just pleased that they distracted me even more. Gah, pay attention!
***
It's Chemistry class now and we're paired together, as always. I have to sit next to them to make sure they don't cheat or anything. So, of course, we get paired together (this job fills me with a deep sense of satisfaction).
They smile at me. "Hey." I know this sounds innocent to you, but this is their plan. They've been trying it on me all year long. They're trying to get me to trust them and then bam, they'll stab me in the back. I'm not stupid enough to fall for that.
"Hey," I respond, neutrally. It's better for me not to reveal that I've realised their scheme. It'll give me the upper hand eventually.
"Do you know what we're supposed to do in this experiment?" they ask. Ha! They thought they could stump me with that? Just by pretending to look confused and question whether I know the experiment? Well, I studied it thoroughly yesterday and I know not to fall for their tricks, so I explain it to them. They nod and smile again (when will they stop with this act? But I guess it's better that they don't know I know and keep doing it. Yeah it's better they continue all that smiling and twirling their hair).
We complete the experiment easily. See, this is another reason I have to be paired with them. If not, they might try to sabotage me. But now, they won't because it'll affect their own grade in the process.
***
I have a break period, so I go to the library and sit in one of my favourite nooks with a book. Suddenly there's a shadow above me.
"Hmm?" I look up.
"May I sit with you?" It's W. Their navy blazer and slacks look perfectly pressed and smooth.
"Okay." I guess this'll be good. I can figure out what they're studying from and if they do any extra reading.
We read in silence for a while. From time to time I check that they're not too ahead of me and I feel them checking out the same thing for me.
Then we both turn to look at the other at the same time. I freeze for a moment, caught in that deep brown gaze. Their lips look glossy (that's irrelevant). They lean forward and quickly smack a kiss onto my cheek.
I'm so dazed that they get the time to quickly gather their bag and run off.
"Hey! Wait!" I run after them, once I've regained my senses. I want them to...explain what that was, no I just...I want....more. More of...that. I blush bright red and run faster.

RIP Flower child Beards. That's Time To Trim.
Male around the globe are actually helping make a straightforward yet strong statement in an effort to finish brutality versus youngsters. That's possibly not astonishing to anyone, yet exactly what is stunning is just how promptly guys could become based on normal dosages of sensual graphics. A study at the College from Utah reveal that human beings not only possess VNOs but that this was actually a network whereby androstadienone as well as estratetraenol had an effect on men and women. On a daily basis I regularly love exactly what Rachel Bilson carries. I feel like our company're kind of comparable as far as style goes. If required, Flatiron the loosened edges of your hair for a hassle-free coating as well as moisture along with sparkle spray (like Garnier Fructis Design Sleek & Luster 5-in-1 Product Spray). To read through various other articles in the set feel free to hit the labels: Best Men's Skin Maintain Flaky Facial Skin Best Men's Anti-aging Skin Treatment Products I have created countless of articles on effective ways to manage adolescent acne in boys. In 2013 Kate began her well-liked fashion, lifestyle and personal design blog where she mentions on fashion trend, trends, beauty, way of living in addition to featuring candid personality job interviews. Formed by Adam Scotland, Alex Synamatix, and Jamie Szulc The Daily Street is properly created being one of the leading fashion trend blogging sites for men. I preferred something more away from my hair and I wanted very easy designs that failed to take lengthy however that maintained my hair from my face so I can take care of the regular catastrophes of possessing pair of tiny babies in the house. Type slab foreign languages have existed since the 1980s, however the regimentation as well as implementation from CSS in 1996 strengthened this being one of the go-to languages for web development. A lot of males can locate that they are sensitive to higher street brands of antiperspirant or antiperspirant, suffering reddish, scratchy, irritated or stinging underarms. The establishment was enhanced in or even trademark blossomy design, along with our attractive pink packaging the pay attention to show. I highly recommend that all men schedule a skin screening process session with their local area skin specialist to dismiss any deadly or wary lesions and after that plan a standard appointment to establish a skin layer care program that works with their skin layer type. I clearly recollect picking up a medical diary regarding a year earlier as well as being actually thus enthusiastic to review the write-up that claimed it had a hair-loss answer for guys. As a result of their oilier skin layer and no-fuss method to pet grooming, men also tend to seek fast-absorbing gel or lotion formulas instead of creams. The approach I took in guide originates from exactly what I discovered after trying other topics below and also observing which subject matters and also designs possessed the largest effect on people. Acquire off the boys: Take your laid-back, cozy pieces as well as design them in an unique way that makes you certainly not merely appear great, yet believe really good. So I more or less want to shop along with Annette, the blog writer behind Gal from Type Her appeals are actually feminine as well as sophisticated with a little side, and also I adore her internet site. Concerning Blogging site - Introduced in 2009, The Daily Road weblog is actually a fashion trend weblog tailored to males which like all traits streetwear. A Leading London-based Guy's Design website founded in 2008, devoted to commemorating and revealing males's type. Men often relate to find me with issues regarding a red or even ruddy skin, sun damage, facial vessels as well as acne or even acne scarring. hi, thank you for expressing your concerns! i’m sorry that i could not find a picture that wasn’t of freckles for the header; i did have the same hang-ups about not wanting to use freckles (although they are a form of hyperpigmentation and an indicator of sun damage, you’ll note i never once mentioned freckle removal in the post; i love my freckles, and i know most people do too). unfortunately i’m limited to the free stock images that my graphics website (canva) offers; i don’t make any money out of this blog despite the university essay-level effort i put into posts, so i can’t afford to use paid graphic software.
secondly, if you cared to look through my blog, you would be aware that i’m 100% pro-skin positivity; i have acne myself, and acne scars, so i’m acutely aware of all the complicated nature of trying to be self-accepting while also wanting to feel beautiful. i believe that, ultimately, beauty can’t be defined by any standards. however, just as you must support those who are confident in themselves and love their scars, you cannot throw people who don’t like them and are insecure due to them under the bus. we cannot ask of anyone to bear the judgement of others and to ignore their own wishes for the sake of being some poster child for body positivity. yes, gradually mindsets will change and we’ll stop seeing acne as something shameful and ugly, but for now please respect the fact that some people just want some reprieve from their situation and it’s not your place to judge them for it.
i’m a cosmetic formulator, but i’ll be the first to admit skincare culture and beauty standards are part of a toxic mindset that is running rampant at present. that is why i started this blog: to offer scientific evidence for people to use for the simple purpose of feeling good about themselves. if you love your scars, your spots and acne, i’m truly happy and proud of you, but for anyone who doesn’t, i offer understanding and knowledge, so that they’re not misled by false advertising and dangerous marketing tactics that prey on our insecurities.
i want to empower us to make our own choices when it comes to beauty — and that involves respecting the desire to change, to conform or to rebel. we all have the same goal: to feel good in our skin. that is why i share my experience, my hours of research and years of study, and my own journey in dealing with self-acceptance and skin insecurities, so please, next time, spare me your rudeness and bitterness; i never once attacked anyone in the original post. if it does not apply to you, simply move on, and just go love yourself, please.

#SkincareSunday: How to Fade Hyperpigmentation and Acne Scars
Acne can be bad enough by itself, but the ghosts of pimples that stay on our skin for months or years are especially frustrating. Hyperpigmentation can also arise in other circumstances, and some people who are particularly prone to it struggle with finding the best way to even out their skin tone. In this guide, let’s address the questions I get most often about these topics, giving you the tools to understand it and approach it efficiently.
In this post:
What is hyperpigmentation and why does it happen?

To Gravity Falls, From Piedmont: Chapter 24
Summary: It’s a long way until next summer. Until then, Dipper   and Mabel share their daily antics and life problems with their lifelong friends and attentive great-uncles through an endless string of   e-mails. Distance makes the heart grow fonder after all, and there’s no place Dipper and Mabel love more than Gravity Falls.
                                                     Chapter List
To: Grunkle Ford (Highsixer)
From: Dipper Pines (GhostHarasserfan)
Subject:  Natural remedies
Just a curious question for you. Do you know of any natural remedies for acne? I tried the Internet for some answers but I don’t really know where to start. Plus I don’t know who’s trying to mess with me. I could try drugstore products but again, don’t know where to start.
Any input you have would be great. Thanks!
“I’m not going to school tomorrow.”
Mabel, who was sitting on the edge of the white porcelain sink, gave her head a sharp shake. “Sorry. I think I heard you wrong. I could have sworn you said you didn’t want to go to school.”
“I can’t go out in public like this!” cried Dipper, unable to tear his gaze away from the oval-shaped mirror. “Everyone will stare!”
“I think they already stare. You wear a winter hat and we’re in California where the sun almost always shines.”
“When they look at Wendy’s ushanka, it’s with curiosity. But when they catch a load of Mount Everest on my face it’s going to be with disgust!”
On Dipper’s chin, smack in the middle, was a bright red pimple. It stood out against his pale skin and there was a collection of blackheads surrounding it. Dipper poked at the acne gingerly, flinching as it throbbed beneath his touch.
“I think touching it is just going to make it worse,” remarked Mabel.
Dipper hastily lowered his hand. “Ugh, this sucks.” He grabbed a washcloth from the cupboard behind him and soaked it with cold water from the tap. He pressed it against his pimple and slouched against the wall. “I have to make this go away by tomorrow.”
“You’re not the first teenager to have acne, bro,” Mabel pointed out.
“I’m already self-conscious enough, this isn’t helping matters,” said Dipper miserably. “I’m just going to be paranoid that every time someone looks at me all they’ll see is this dumb pimple.”
“Hey, it’ll be fine,” soothed Mabel. “We’ll do what we can to get rid of it. You’re also not the first teenager to worry over acne. It’s the plague of puberty.”
“Definitely not the part I looked forward to,” muttered Dipper. “How come I’m the first one to have to deal with this?”
Mabel grinned. “I got the braces. It’s only fair you get the pimples.”
“Fair point,” conceded Dipper. He dug through his shorts pocket and removed his phone. “I’m going to do some investigating.”
“Is it okay if I take Waddles for a walk?” asked Mabel.
Dipper waved her away. “Oh yeah. I’ll be fine. Just having a fit. I’ll get over it…hopefully.”
Mabel patted him on the shoulder. “Seriously, try not to worry about it. Society’s standards of beauty is way overrated. I’ll be back shortly to see what cure for acne you’ve discovered.”
She skipped out of the bathroom, calling out for her pig. Dipper took her place on the counter, legs kicking idly as he searched through the numerous Internet results for some home remedy solutions.
“Wait, toothpaste? Is that a thing?”
After circulating through her neighbourhood for twenty minutes, Waddles happily trotting by her side and sniffing every single tree and bush as he tended to do, Mabel began the trek for home. Sweat caused her bright pink tank top stick to her body, matching sweater tied securely around her waist. When she was a block away from home her phone started to trill and she fished it from her pocket. She swiped her finger across the screen to accept the incoming video call and beamed when Stan’s face filled with rectangular screen.
“Hey, Grunkle Stan!” she greeted cheerfully.
“Hey, kiddo.” He noticed the blurs of green shrubbery in the background and asked, “Out painting the town red?”
“Nah, just taking Waddles for a walk.”
Stan shook his head in mock-disappointment. “You kids are pretty boring without the supernatural surrounding you.”
“Our secret is out,” joked Mabel. “What sorts of trouble are you causing?”
“Well, I accidentally broke a statue in an abandoned temple, and I guess it was sacred or something, for the locals freaked out. We got chased out of the village, but I managed to smuggle a rare jewel with us, which is the only reason why Ford isn’t giving me the silent treatment.”
“Wow, I was sort of joking, but I really should have known better,” said Mabel in amusement. “Can I see the jewel?”
“Sure. Gimme a sec.”
Mabel reached her front door as Stan started rummaging for the artefact. She stepped into the air-conditioned hallway and unclipped the leash, allowing Waddles to scamper off. She glanced back the screen to see a weird, spiky amber-coloured gem cradled in Stan’s hand.
“Cool!” she exclaimed. “What is it?”
“That’s what we’re trying to figure out. Where’s your brother? He’d probably get a kick out of this.”
“He’s probably in the bathroom, hold on.”
“Whoa, you can’t just burst in on him! There are some things I want to go through life not seeing.”
“No, ew, he’s been trying to get rid of a pimple,” laughed Mabel.
“Ah. The teenage years. How I hated them.”
Mabel discovered the bathroom door open but the lights were off. She turned on her heel and shuffled into the bedroom, where she found Dipper typing away at his computer. “Yo, Dipping-Dots, Grunkle Stan has something to show you!”
Dipper turned his head, eyes widening at the sight of his great-uncle on Mabel’s phone. “Wait, not when I have junk on my face!” he yelped, jumping up and accidentally tripping over the chair leg, crashing to the floor.
Mabel jogged over and peeked down at her brother, who groaned and shoved his chair to the side, the wheels making tracks in the carpet. She squinted. “Is that toothpaste?”
“Toothpaste is supposed to go in your mouth, not on your face,” quipped Stan.
Dipper flushed and stood, the bright blue glob of mint-scented toothpaste covering his pimple. “It’s a home remedy,” he defended. “The general consensus online seems to be that it works. I thought I’d give it a shot.”
“You try popping it?”
“I am not popping this thing,” exclaimed Dipper. “That’s disgusting. Besides, I’m trying to reduce my chances of leaving a scar.”
“Too bad I’m not there. I was the ruler of popping pimples.”
Mabel pulled a face. “Super gross, yet not surprising.”
“What was it you wanted to show me?” asked Dipper.
Stan showed Dipper his discovery and the thirteen-year-old fawned over it for a moment. On Stan’s end of the video call there was the sound of footsteps falling on wood and Ford’s voice spoke, “Stanley, I’ve told you not to play with the gem. There won’t be much to study if you break it.”
“I’m showin’ it to the runts, Poindexter.”
Ford squeezed next to Stan on the screen and smiled. “Hello, kids.” His gaze landed on the patch of blue on Dipper’s face and he asked in bemusement,
“What’s on your chin, Dipper?”
“Toothpaste,” he answered, cheeks flushing slightly. “Beneath the toothpaste is a pimple that may or may not consume my face at a later date.”
“He was hoping you might have a solution for him,” said Mabel. “This was his attempt while he waited.”
“Did you contact me?” asked Ford, brow furrowing. He patted his pocket, quickly realizing that his phone was not where it usually was. “Blast. I must have forgotten it here when I went out in port. I’m sorry, my boy.”
“Hypocrite,” scoffed Stan. “You’re always on me about bringing my phone everywhere.”
“That’s because you forget yours ten times more than me,” returned Ford. Placing his attention back on Dipper, he said carefully, “I’m not sure if toothpaste is the best remedy for acne.”
Dipper groaned. “I thought it sounded really weird.”
“No, no, it’s certainly a tactic that people use,” assured Ford. “But the ingredients in toothpaste will dry out your skin, which could sometimes make it worse. In my youth I tended to use a honey and cinnamon mask. It’s not necessarily proven that it works, but I certainly saw improvements. Raw honey has more medicinal benefits than commercial honey.”
“There’s about a thousand and one health shops in California, so that shouldn’t be a problem,” said Mabel cheerfully.
“Did you ever try and experiment with acne solutions?” asked Dipper curiously.
“I did. Once.”
“Ended horribly,” said Stan with a cackle. “His entire face broke out into hives and boils. It lasted for almost two months. It was disgusting.”
Ford glared. “Though I could have cracked the perfect acne treatment skin cream, I decided that perhaps such an endeavour would be best left for professional dermatologists. There are drugstore creams and masks you can use, but it will most likely require trial and error to find one that works best for you.”
“I guess I could do that,” said Dipper, rubbing the back of his neck. “I’ll start with the honey things for now. I really want to bring this pimple down before school tomorrow.”
“Kid, you’re not the first to have a bright red spot in the center of your face,” said Stan.
Mabel threw her hands in the air. “That’s what I said!”
“I know, I know. I just…feel self-conscious, and we all know I have enough of that.”
“I’m afraid nothing of puberty is fun. It’s okay if acne makes you feel uncomfortable—it’s natural, and I guarantee majority of teens go through it every day,” reassured Ford. “But you don’t have to be ashamed of it. As cliché as it is, your appearance is only a small part of who you are—”
“—it’s what’s on the inside that’s most important,” finished Dipper with a sincere smile.
“And if anyone wants to give you crap for some dumb zit, they’re the ones with real insecurities,” added Stan. “Just deck ‘em.”
“Er…I think I’ll save that as a last resort,” said Dipper with a slight smile. “I’ll just ignore them and keep my head high.”
“Stanley, you could learn a thing or two from him,” chided Ford.
“Shut up, Poindexter.”
Dipper laughed. “I’m gonna wash this junk off of my face and find some cinnamon. Thanks.”
“Anytime my boy.”
“You’ll keep us updated on what you find with the gem?”
“Of course,” agreed Ford. “Granting that Stan doesn’t break it.”
“Keep up the attitude and I’ll do it just to spite you,” countered Stan.
They said their goodbyes and Mabel disconnected the video call. “I’ll go milk a bee for some honey.”
Dipper squinted at her. “You are joking, right?”
Mabel rolled her eyes. “Glad to know you think so highly of me.” She leaned forwards and gingerly poked the blob of toothpaste, where not a single blue chip came off. “It hardened, bro.”
“Ah, shoot!”

Hey!
So the honey and cinnamon mask brought down the redness, but the pimple was still noticeable. Thankfully I’m a whiz with makeup. Should have just done this from the beginning!
Much love,
Mabel

Dipper Pines: Thanks for letting me know ahead of time that you were doing this…
Mabel Pines: Aw, come on, you’re not the only guy to ever wear makeup. Robbie is awesome with eyeliner.
Dipper Pines: That does not comfort me.
Grunkle Stan: Wow, can’t even see it. How much gunk did you use?
Mabel Pines: Just a few layers of foundation and concealer.
Grunkle Ford: This technique would have saved me a lot of grief with my more appalling acne episodes.
Grunkle Stan: You’re lucky to have a sister like you do, kiddo.
Dipper Pines: Yeah, definitely. But I think it’s only fair that she sends you a picture of herself.
Grunkle Ford: Why’s that?
Dipper Pines: The makeup job she performed on herself is miraculous. She woke up this morning with a huge zit in the middle of her nose. Hers is way worse than mine.
Mabel Pines: …I would say it’s unbecoming to boast, but if you ever end up getting braces I will be laughing all the way to the orthodontist.

A Wooden Chest
Today I pulled open my chest of drawers and, while staring at its contents, wondered why I suddenly felt an emptiness aching inside of me. I don’t like these clothes. At what point did I stop buying clothes that I like? It’s nauseating to realise there’s been a shift in your subconscious without any knowledge of it, to feel as though a stranger has taken occupancy in your mind and assumed control against your will. My clothes have gradually drowned and are suffocating at the bottom of this drawer as these shrunken, bland forms sit on top of them. ‘Christ’ I think, ‘this is miserable’. And I’m filled with this shame of knowing I’ve gradually deserted myself in pursuit of a goal that’s never been realised, that’s given me absolutely nothing in return. I’ve become consumed only by the drive for others to admire me, and I've shrunken myself down in the process. I stare at these flimsy pieces of cotton and think about how awful they look lying limp on their own. They’re simply props, not items themselves. Their sole purpose is to stretch for the exhibition of a body, and without it, they’re half the size. If that body returns nothing of value, then these clothes have no purpose at all. They certainly don’t keep me warm, and it’s those moments of biting cold that I feel the sharpest humiliation of all. It sparks a resentment towards myself that I have never felt towards anyone else. How much of my life have I spent making myself uncomfortable for some vague goal of pleasing others that rarely ever happens? Even when they’re pleased, it’s purely their gain and none of mine.
I feel I must be beautiful so that the deficits of my mind won’t seem so abrasive, to paint over the splinters out of politeness. To give it up feels like an act of grave danger. It’s what has seemed to protect me until now so I must uphold it forever to be safe, and yet I never feel truly safe because the person these people are polite to is not me. I know I would be treated differently if I stopped trying so hard, and that’s what’s terrifying—the constant fear of revealing myself and watching the disappointment in their faces. My version of ‘I won’t wear makeup today’ is still wearing makeup, just hiding the most obvious imperfections. My acne hasn’t even been particularly bad as I’ve grown older, and I think my natural face is still passably pretty. But no matter what, I carry this belief that if an acquaintance saw me with my acne unconcealed, then they would immediately find me disgusting. They would come nowhere near me; I’d be too repulsive to even risk a glance. It feels like too much of a reveal of my human self—that I have real flesh prone to eruption and scarring. When I’m nervous, I have to make my appearance as different from my natural self as possible, almost as an illusion tactic to distract the onlooker. I wear long, brightly coloured nails so that I might believe I’m someone else when I look down. I paint myself as a doll and wear clothes that create a fictional character. That way, I can convince myself that any negative judgement is simply criticism of that fake persona and not an attack on the trembling soul inside of me.
I don’t know. I don’t know if I will ever give up on chasing beauty, always believing it will offer me something. Truthfully, all it ever gives you is politeness; it doesn’t give you anything deeper than that. I don’t know how long it will take for my life to be stable enough that I can comfortably lower these defences and not feel the loss will have some devastating impact. All I know right now is that it’s so upsetting to be an adult looking at photos of yourself as a child (though it certainly didn’t feel that way at the time) wearing full makeup as an adult would, as if it’s normal. It’s so humiliating being that insecure, looking foolish because of the fact you’re so insecure, no matter how much effort you take to combat it. To this day, people sometimes say things like, ‘Why are you so dressed up for such a small thing? No one’s bothered what you look like’ and the remark feels so cutting because deep down, I know I don’t do it for my appearance; I do it to make up for everything else about me. It’s a kind of apology, a way to prove I really am trying. I’m trying desperately to make myself palatable to you.

                                             ( YOON DANBI, 27 )
Name: Yoon Danbi Date of Birth: 1990/11/06 Occupation: Model
SPARKNOTES:
only child of a retired fashion photographer and retired model; loathes her mother, but loves her father
selfish, narcissistic, vain, superficial; a daddy’s girl; very lonely, and is totally aware that all she has going for her is her looks
biggest fear is not being pretty and/or popular anymore, and being forgotten; acts out partly for the attention, and partly as defence to avoid being hurt first
mother is the worst influence on her, and constantly pushed/pushes her own ideals onto her daughter; very stage mom-y, and likes to control her daughter’s every move
starts modelling towards the end of high school, just like her mother; doesn’t even consider college an option
fell in love towards the end of high school with a boy who was probably the epitome of ordinary; had nothing to do with the industry and cared very little for danbi’s tactics; her romance with said boy was the only slice of normalcy she’s ever gotten in her life
mother forced her to leave him, under the guise that the boy was unsuited for the kind of life she was living
results in major heartbreak, and the development of apathy and detachment from the world around her as her career starts to pick up
chain smokes, spends her money frivolously, sleeps around, fears hates commitment; gets a nose job because she hates that it’s the same as her mother’s
gains popularity and fame as the years progress; she’s aware that most of it stems from her parents’ already existing statuses, and strives to step out of her mother’s shadow to create a name for herself
FREEFORM:
PRIDE.
“she’s beautiful. what’s her name?”
“danbi.”
her face makes it to page seven of the tabloids, even before she’s learned how to talk. it’s only right that the first born daughter of the national icon, kim shinhye, is shown to the world. surely she’ll be following in her mother’s footsteps, what with those eyes and lips she’s inherited.
her father has albums full of her photos before she’s even able to stand on her own two feet. eyes wide with childish curiosity stare up at camera lenses. mirrors are the most fascinating objects on the planet. a tube of mother’s red lipstick is held tight in a chubby fist.
GLUTTONY.
“danbi, don’t eat that.”
she doesn’t understand why taking the cookie the maid’s daughter just offered her is such a crime, but it’s pulled from her fingers before the crumbs have even hit the kitchen counter. her mother clicks her tongue. disapproval. danbi hangs her head low with shame.
“you’ll ruin your appetite, sweetheart.”
she doesn’t tell anyone about how she hasn’t eaten a thing since eleven.
dinner is clothed in embarrassment, food almost completely untouched. she picks at a loose thread on the napkin draped across her lap, listens wordlessly as her mother talks about sumin from ballet.
“she had the most beautiful form, darling. perfectly toned legs and arms. her mother tells me her diet is almost completely meat free now. amazing, honestly. and she’s a year younger than our danbi.”
“now, now. let’s not forget that our danbi is top of the class. our daughter is probably the most beautiful student at the academy.”
“well, yes. of course she is, darling.”
danbi tries to ignore the way her mother’s words seem like nothing but an afterthought.
SLOTH.
“sangmin-ah. grab that book for me, will you?”
she’s mastered her smile by the time her senior year of high school has come around, somewhere between flirtatious and cheeky. she hears words whispered in the halls, but barely hears them over the sound of shoes hitting the linoleum floor, frantic, as admirers strive to catch up to her, to catch a glimpse of the way her hips swing with every step.
her desk is surrounded by a ring of eighteen year old boys with acne-scarred cheeks and crooked teeth. none of them take her fancy, but she’s long learned how to pretend they do.
“taejoonie… this is too hard. can you help me? pretty please?”
how could the guy resist when she swivelled around to look at the boy behind her, lower lip jutted out, the hem of her skirt sitting too high up her thigh to comply to standard uniform regulations?
(the girls in her class sneer in her direction, roll their eyes, and scoff. they’re just jealous.)
high school teaches you a lot; that much is true. but she’s not concerned about long division and photosynthesis, not when she knows that what’s important is knowing how high to hike up her skirt, and how much gloss should be applied to her lips to have heads turning and eyes doing double takes. there are some brief twinges of satisfaction, knowing some of her teachers are part of her crew of admirers.
her classmates do all her work for her, leaving nothing but the task of writing her name at the top of page to claim it as her own. grades don’t matter. social status matters.
LUST.
danbi falls in love once, and only once.
it’s every bit as intense as she’d anticipated it to be. he sees right through her bullshit, is completely unfazed by her sharp tongue and flirty eyes. in fact, he’s really not phased by anything, and it’s disgusting cliché, the way she pines for the one boy who doesn’t give a rat’s ass about anything she does.
it’s a wonder why he even reciprocated in the first place.
they’re young, they’re messy, and the entire nine months is a culmination of more emotion than she’s ever experienced thus far. it’s tangled sheets, amusement parks, greasy fast food, and dancing in the rain. it’s linked fingers, chapped lips, half-lidded eyes, and quiet whispers in dark rooms.
she’s never felt more free and alive.
ENVY.
“more, danbi. tilt your head more.”
her mother shows her the ropes, and directs every single move of hers in front of the camera. college applications are a distant thought, barely even considered, but no one bats an eye. it would be more surprising, really, for her to not follow in her mother’s footsteps the way the country expects her to.
she’s barely made it out of high school before she’s being whisked away from one set to the other. she’s no stranger to all the clothes and jewellery, but everything is happening so fast. people are running past her from every direction, pulling her hair, tugging at her arms and legs, angling her head, and calling out directions like drill sergeants.
a stylist almost pokes her eye out, fixing her eyeliner, when she’s sat down for an interview, her mother hovering off to the side to monitor.
what’s it like, being the daughter of a world-renowned photographer and a top class model?
she tries to smile, biting back a wince, because whoever is brushing her hair is pulling too hard.
“it’s the best thing ever. i love it. couldn’t have asked for a better family,” she says; she casts a glance over to her mother, waiting for approval on her answer. she already knows what she’ll say on the ride back home: don’t sound so juvenile next time, please. try to sound like an adult. no one wants to talk to a model who sounds like a fifteen year old. next question.
were pushed to be a model? did you want to be one yourself?
she knows this question, expects this question, and she knows how to answer this.
“no, of course not. i’ve always admired my mother — and my father. even if they weren’t my parents, their work ethic would’ve been enough to make me strive to be just like them. i don’t know if i can be half as successful as my mother wa— is, because i’m not as beautiful and talented as she is, but i’ll definitely try my best to live up to everyone’s expectations.”
her stomach churns with contempt at the way the lies just spill from her lips as easy as her breaths.
“my daughter is too humble,” she hears her mother cut in, laughter ringing throughout the room, sending a chill down her spine. she knows that laugh. an assistant is about to walk their way with a tray of snacks. he turns on his heels immediately at the look her mother gives him. “danbi is beautiful. she is my daughter, after all.”
she’s quick to zone out when the interview shifts from herself to her mother. she really shouldn’t be jealous of the way she easily roll answers off her tongue, but she can’t help but feel that stab of envy at the way her mother is so at ease during the talk. it comes with years of experience, of course, but it’s still frustrating to know that she can’t even lie comfortably.
WRATH.
“danbi. get rid of him.”
“what?”
“you heard me. get rid of him. he’s worthless, and plain. a little pathetic, actually, if you ask me. certainly not fit to be dating my daughter.”
“what the fuck? no way!”
“don’t speak to me like that. i’m your mother. and you will do as i say. i let you do as you please before, but you’re growing up now. you’re making a name for yourself, a reputation. you are the daughter of the best fashion photographer in the nation and the greatest model to ever walk the runway in this country. you will not be running around galavanting with some boring boy who is ill-suited for a life of fame and fortune. your face is plastered all over magazines; your face will not be plastered all over the covers of tabloids because of some boy. not if i can help it.”
her favourite colour is purple, but all she sees now is red.
“i hate you. you… you witch. i don’t have to listen to you.”
“it doesn’t matter what you think of me. but you are getting rid of him. or would you rather i do something about him, hmm?”
it’s scary, the way her mother barely flinches when she throws a glass vase at the wall, rips the covers of magazines strewn across the coffee table off, watches both their faces be torn in half.
“ihateyouihateyouihateyouihateyou!”
“tell the maids to clean this up when you’re done.”
GREED.
sunglasses that cover half her face shield her from the bright flashing lights. everyone wants her to look their way, but… whatever. she’s great from every angle.
danbi! danbi! how was paris fashion week?
“spectacular.”
danbi! danbi! those photos of you with those italian models…
red lips part to expose pearly white teeth.
danbi! have you heard abou—
“nope.” the clicking of stiletto heels on the airport floor almost drown out the sound of multiple camera shutters going off, guards roughly shoving away eager camera men.
danbi! would you say you’re doing better than your mother did when she was your age?
her laughter is sharp, loud, almost mocking. it sounds eerily like her mother’s, but she won’t comment on that.
“definitely.”

What If Acne Wasn’t a Flaw? 5 Women Skip Coverup and Talk Skin
http://fashion-trendin.com/what-if-acne-wasnt-a-flaw-5-women-skip-coverup-and-talk-skin/
What If Acne Wasn’t a Flaw? 5 Women Skip Coverup and Talk Skin
There are all sorts of acne: stress-related-and-stressful acne, hormone-rage-induced acne, puberty-sucks acne, bad-timing-single-painful-pimple acne; the kind you see a dermatologist for, the kind you don’t. For a few years, I had the type of acne that was so “bad” that occasionally strangers — entirely unsolicited — would call it out. It was always empathetic, to offer a solution, a nudge to see a doctor. “They have medicine for that, you know.”
I knew. I’d tried it all since middle school: washes, creams, pills. The goal was always the same: to “get it under control,” as though acne were my four-year-old child, hopped up on sugar, running around naked in the supermarket while I ignored the problem. But you can’t ignore acne when it’s on your face. It’s on your face.
What I wish I’d been able to understand during the years my skin made me want to exist outside of it is that acne is neither a death sentence nor a mark of character. It isn’t bad or ugly. It just is. I wish I’d felt like I could leave the house without makeup and still look acceptable. I wish I knew it wasn’t someone else’s job to determine whether it was “acceptable.” I also wish I knew there was nothing deceitful about wearing makeup. I wish I knew it was fine to feel and act as though my acne were an intrusion — that these red things were not welcome. I wish I also knew it was fine to pretend the one above my lip made me something of a ’90s supermodel. Mostly, I wish I knew it was normal, whatever that means.
Because acne’s not a secret, nor is it a flaw, we cast five women who experience breakouts for a bling-y, over-bejeweled glamour-shot of a shoot, sans coverup. The goal was manifold: to speak to women about their various skin relationships, to show others that they’re not the only ones with pimples and scars and insecurities, to create an atmosphere where they feel beautiful and celebrate that beauty, and to get as many shiny, pretty things on their persons as possible for the sake of a magpie’s indulgence.
Their opinions of their skin ranges, and those ranges depend on the day. Some wear makeup daily, some not at all. Some were uncomfortable, some were in their element. Some were mid-breakout, some were healing. The common theme among them? The confidence to say: “This is who I am.”
I’ve had acne since I was 13. I always assumed it would go away, but it didn’t, so I started to cover it up. Then I got used to it. Now, I don’t mind walking around outside without makeup on because I see other people like me.
I tried Accutane, but it was horrible. It boosted my migraines to another level. It made my skin another level of dryness. And it made me feel so weak. It worked on my pimples — they went away (scars stayed), but then when I stopped it, the pimples came back.
When blogging, people will comment: “Your skin is flawless. Your skin is perfect. What do you do?” I used to get that question a lot, but I want to let them know that is not my skin — that is makeup. I use foundation. I don’t want people to think something I’m not, so I comment back and tell them it’s makeup. When I go “live,” I do so with a bare face to let people know it’s okay.
You only show your “best” face [while blogging], not your worst. I wear makeup because it’s part of the full [look] these days and to avoid questions (“Are you okay? Are you sick?”) or to avoid pressure. Some people will treat you differently if you don’t wear makeup. Like you’re dirty. I’ve gotten hateful comments on my Snapchat when I post without makeup about how I should cover up. But I’m like, “Guys, you don’t understand: I’m fine with it.”

My skin was fine during my teens but then kind of exploded during the middle of my freshman year of college. It cleared up by the time I was in my mid-20s due to a combination of hormonal birth control and topical prescriptions, and for about five or six years, I had pretty clear skin.
My priorities have shifted a bit (which means no more hormonal birth control or topical prescriptions), so the acne has come back. When I feel extra-focused on it, I try to look at the big picture and think: Okay, what will people remember about me when I’m old and gray? Probably not that I had hormonal acne on my chin. They’ll remember more important qualities — hopefully my best qualities. That perspective helps. In the lead-up to my wedding this last fall, however, I tried every cleanser/toner/mask/spot treatment available to try to clear up the spots.
I don’t love having acne at 31, but I recognize it as temporary. I also think it’s fine to have acne, and it’s fine to be really annoyed by it. Both are true for me. I don’t feel pressure to cover it, and as a whole, I’ve started to look at makeup as a fun accessory, rather than something I need to cover my so-called “flaws.” I don’t feel like I need to hide my acne. And that feels like a good place to be.

I got my first pimple in middle school. I hid it with a Band-Aid and told everyone that I’d scratched my face. When puberty really hit and one pimple became a face full of acne, I switched tactics. Now, I usually wear coverup and foundation as a base layer. I don’t wear makeup every day, but I cover up my acne to look more presentable and professional. A cat eye and a bit of mascara are enhancements; attempting to hide an irritated cystic pimple staring out from between my eyebrows like a third eye is a necessity. Everyone has that thing they do to fulfill the “look good, feel good” mantra. Some people need their nails to look nice to feel confident. I have to hide my acne.
It’s funny how the phrase “inhabiting someone else’s skin” means to play a character. In this case, the skin I’m in is my own, but not the version of it that I usually broadcast to the world. It was uncomfortable for me to come here today and not wear makeup. I was self-conscious about not being in control of the image and the way my acne appears. I wish I didn’t care, but I also wish I had perfect skin.
I think my insecurity about my skin stems from the fact that acne is a flaw that people assume is indicative of your emotional state and lifestyle. It’s so revealing. Some people can hide their stress. Mine is played out all over my face. People assume I’m not drinking enough water, eating right… Everyone thinks they’re a skincare expert.
Focusing on things that were beautiful about me [rather than my skin] helped boost my confidence when I was younger. I danced ballet, so I would focus on how strong I was. My advice to my younger self: Don’t touch your face. Let the pimples do what they do, leave them alone. Don’t try to cover everything up because that always ends up making it worse. Just do enough to make yourself feel more secure. Know that your skin is not what people are focusing on, and if it is, then those are not the kind of people you should interact with. There are so many more important things to worry about.

Whenever people ask what kind of skin I have, I say, “shitty.” Then I laugh and say, “combination.” I got acne when I was 17. I always cover it up. I work hard on my skin and nothing changes.
Taking the subway here this morning for the shoot with no makeup on, I felt like everyone was looking at me. I could feel any semblance of self-esteem go down the toilet.
This shoot brought my self-esteem back up. I felt beautiful. The clothes and the jewelry helped…and the attention. [Laughs]
I wish I could tell anyone with acne that it’s not disgusting. It’s just you being a human. We are living in a time where flaws are more readily accepted or aren’t considered flaws at all. We don’t have to stress so much to try and be perfect.

My skin started to settle down after I turned 25, 26, but I’ve always had acne issues. I might have been the first girl in my class with acne. I was 14, maybe. The first time I was ever really concerned with it was around 16. I stopped looking in the mirror to avoid what popped up.
After that, I totally accepted it. Not kidding. I’d wear red lipstick but not concealer. My friends who were concerned with their skin would ask, “How can you walk around like that?” It wasn’t part of my identity. I’d have 10 pimples and my friend would have one. She’d freak out and I’d be fine. Everyone deals with things differently.
I saw a girl on the train once with acne, and I could tell she was uncomfortable. She wasn’t making eye contact with anyone. I wish I could tell her that no one is judging her because of her pimples.

How To Accidentally Transition To Clean(er) Beauty
I never thought I'd see the day, but last fall I started hating all my beauty products. Seriously, all of them-without exception. I hated my standbys that made it through stories and seasons with me; I hated my custom-made, blood-infused cream that costs $1400; I hated everything new delivered to my attention at Glossier HQ. Everything sucked and smelled like marketing and threatened to break me out and give me a rash. It was truly a dark time.
My general product fatigue-and my growing distrust of ingredient lists I couldn't easily parse-drove me somewhere I never thought I'd find myself: the world of natural and organic beauty. I say never because all the detox-driven, "no-nasties" lingo is really for the birds. As you probably already know, natural claims can pass unregulated by any actual agency. So the same way marketing makes the industry go 'round, scare tactics might make the natural enclave within it grow. Maybe you're skeptical. That's OK, I'm skeptical too. But in a moment of desperation, I was drawn to the clean beauty community's focus on ingredients I recognized and routines that felt right. And guess what? I found some products I really, really liked. I'm as shocked as anybody.
So here I am, all of a sudden a "natural beauty lover." Or at least a natural-leaning beauty lover because it's hard to be a beauty editor and not try a little of everything. One disclaimer I feel compelled to share: The following list is a bit cost-prohibitive. And for that, I'm sorry. But I'll say this-the past few months were just my first foray into this brave new world that happens to be pretty expensive at the moment. I'm compelled to say that this is the wave of the future for a lot of companies in terms of formulating products. All of which is to say, they're going to get more and more affordable as the market opens up. For now, follow the ingredients to your price point. And tell me what you're using in the comments.
Cleanser: Aurelia Probiotic Skincare Miracle Cleanser
My relationship with the Aurelia Probiotic Skincare Miracle Cleanser isn't just a rebound from what I was using before–it's the love-at-first sight kind of thing that makes you forget every other boyfriend you've ever had. I knew from the first time I messaged the creamy formula into my skin that this was for me-just on feel. But the real results come after you rinse. No redness. Like, I'm talking no redness-from the rosacea on my cheeks, to cystic zits that pop up around my eyebrows. It's not the most natural or most organic product on this list, but it's free of a whole hell of a lot: parabens, mineral oils, silicones, sulphates, propylene glycol, phthalates, GMO, PEGs, and that's not all. Also, they sell it at Shen Beauty, which tells me it's pretty darn good.
Toner: Susanne Kaufmann's Tonic Clarifying
Toner isn't something that's ever permanently worked its way into my routine. I've dabbled in rosewater after cleansing, but that's sort of a weak excuse for a balancing step. Turns out, all I needed was plant alcohols like the ones in Susanne Kaufmann's Tonic Clarifying. Her emphasis on the worts (master wort, rib wort, St. John's wort...) do wonders for skin texture, resulting in a complexion that's calm, cool, and collected.
Oil: True Botanicals Clear Oil
For moisturizing, I highly recommend you reach for an oil instead of a cream. In fact, I haven't used a traditional moisturizer since mid-November, and my skin is the happiest it's been in a year. I apologize if I am beginning to sound like a broken record on this, but True Botanicals Clear Oil is my no. 1. It's one of those kind of confusing balancing oils that I was afraid to use for a while, but don't be scared. Here's all you need to know: It's an oil, so yes it's going to moisturize you really well. But it's also antibacterial (killing acne germs before they start) and anti-inflammatory (reducing the appearance of acne once it's already happening). Of course, if acne isn't your problem, the Renew Oil is also wonderful. Guys, I really love this brand. So much.
Serums: Kristina Holey + Marie Veronique & Drunk Elephant C-Firma
Jane Larkworthy was right-the Kristina Holey + Marie Veronique collection of serums (that's Intensive Repair, Barrier Restore, and Soothing B3) really can't be beat. They're a 1-2-3 punch targetting inflammation and its side effects (that's acne, aging, and various types of dermatitis). Instead of treating just one thing, the best way to describe the results is to say 'perfectly soothed and dewy skin.' Meant to be used as a system, I've taken to mixing together at least two of them at any given time: Intensive Repair and Soothing B3 when I'm breaking out, adding in Barrier Restore when I'm healing.
In the morning, I sporadically add Drunk Elephant's most popular C-Firma Day Serum under oil and SPF. Sure, it smells like hot dog water, but I see no better improvement to skin tone and clarity than when I'm using it. Suffer for your art.
Spot Treatment: Amanda Lacey Miracle Tonic
I almost screwed this one up. It is not, as I assumed, an all-over exfoliating toner. Don't do that unless you have Teflon skin. Instead, dip a Q-tip in the beautiful glass jar and swipe selectively on parts of your face that could use a little encouragement. For me, that's a few hormonal acne spots and some stubborn scar tissue near my eyebrow sprouts. After one use, I was pleasantly surprised that everything seemed calmer and less inflated. And with the Q-tip dip trick, this thing is going to last me forever.
SPF: Susanne Kaufmann Sun Cream Cell Protection
We've been over this. Susanne Kaufmann slays the game. Read more here.
Weekly Add-Ons: The Beauty Chef Probiotic Skin Refiner & May Lindstrom The Honey Mud
Important advice for up-and-coming beauty lovers: Don't over exfoliate and don't over-mask. You can have too much of a good thing, and it's tempting to try and fix finnicky skin with more products. Resist the urge and pull back for a moment. I've limited myself to a once-per-week at-home facial that's only two steps-an exfoliating toner and a deeply cleansing plus hydrating mask. Step 1 is The Beauty Chef's Probiotic Skin Refiner, which is made from the runoff from their probiotic supplement powder that's a cult favorite. That's pretty cool in my opinion. Step 2 is an oldie but a goodie: May Lindstrom's The Honey Mud. A rare mud mask that doesn't suck the living soul out of your dermis while you were just trying to tend to a few stubborn clogged pores. I don't know how May formulates the best of the best every time, but she does and I'd trust her with my life.
Shampoo & Conditioner: San Ceuticals Nourishing Line
Turns out, finding a natural-leaning shampoo and conditioner pair is tough. Both Ilona Hamer and Kate Jones recommended this New Zealand-based line to me and I'm really digging it. The shampoo is just what it needs to be-a shampoo, nothing more, nothing less. But the Nourishing Hair Hydratant Ultra melts into hair unlike most other conditioners that just sit on top. It feels like a shame to wash it out (sometimes I don't), but when you do, it leaves hair moisturized but not gummy.
A Magic Hair Styling Cocktail: Reverie Ever Oil + Milk
The lovely people at Whittemore House Salon tipped me off to this mixture-I'd been using Milk as a lightweight hydrator on ends for years. But add Ever Oil to it and it feels like you're feeding your hair continuously from shower to shower. The oil adds a little grit to Milk, a gel-serum that can feel weak in the face of thicker, coarser hair.
Body: Tammy Fender Très Rose Body Oil
Boy do I love a luxurious body oil. It makes me feel like a queen-and it's also more worth it because I can't remember the last time I finished one. With Tammy's version, the pump is everything. But the light scent is nice in that it's not overwhelming. And the hydration is serious. Never moisturize your body with anything but oil. If I leave you with one thing after all of this, let it be that.
