Though Lovers Be Lost - Alternate Ending
The gnawing feeling followed Alistair through the rest of the morning. After James left he tried to go back to bed, but he just couldn't shut his mind off enough to fall back to sleep. So instead, he cleaned the kitchen, took a shower and decided to head into the shop early.
Sitting in the back of his cab, he stared out the window with tried itchy eyes, no idea how he was meant to focus on work while worrying about his damn idiot boyfriend. Perhaps he should have simply used a dart on the man. Regretfully, there wasn't an amnesia dart strong enough to wipe away the ridiculous vendetta he had against Harry.
Of course, Alistair knew it wasn't really about Harry. It never had been. It had always been about James' own insecurities. Deep down, he believed he wasn't good enough. That he was only there because Lee Unwin died. And it was all made worse by the guilt and shame he'd been carrying since that fateful day in 1997.
I should have done it. I should have thrown myself on that grenade. James had said one dark night after a rough mission he'd barely survived, as he sat in Alistair's living room, an half empty bottle of tequila in front of him. But I didn't react quick enough. Lee did. Lee saw it, just like he would have seen the trip wire.
Their relationship had started that night.
Alistair had often wondered if Lee's death haunted James because he'd felt more than friendship for the man. He'd never asked, hadn't wanted to know, in all honesty, but he couldn't think of another explanation for why he was still so angry.
"Sir?" His drivers voice pulled him from his thoughts.
"Thank you Jacob." He muttered, shoving open the cab door.
The shop wasn't due to open for another few hours, but Alistair was buzzed in and he made his down to the bullet train that would take him to Camelot. The journey while quicker than driving, it still left him time to think and worry.
Pulling out his phone, he typed a message. Have you arrived?
He let out a shaky sigh when he didn't instantly get a reply and swallowed thickly against his racing heart. He couldn't even lie to himself and say it was because he was underground, because Kingsman phones were made to avoid that particular issue.
He tapped his foot anxiously against the floor of the train and typed again.
Can you just tell me your safe
But still no reply. His grip tightened on his phone, if James was in the middle of a rescue or fleeing he obvious would be able to take five seconds to text back.
But he also wouldn't be able to text back if he were dead.
By the time the bullet began to slow, Alistair had made up his mind to go visit Merlin and demand he find James.
Alistair's eyes widened when the doors opened to reveal his idiot boyfriend.
"What's got you lookin' so worried?"
"Why didn't you answer my texts." Alistair all but yelled, his voice echoing off the walls.
James has the good sense to look guilty, "I figured you were on your way her so why bother."
"Why bother?" He growled, clenching his fists at his side. "I'd hit you if I didn't love you so much."
James smiled and took a step forward, pulling Alistair into a hug, "I love you too. And I'm sorry." He added quietly before leaning in to kiss him.
With a satisfied hum, Alistair pulled back, "Your forgiven, but we should stop for Merlin makes us clean out the kennels again.
James smiled, "It'll be worth it." He muttered, leaning it again.
It was another couple of minutes before they finally separated, and it occurred to Alistair to ask, "What about your rescue mission?"
"I decided to heed your warning. I gave all my information to Merlin instead. He said he'd look into it."
With a long relieved exhale, Alistair nodded, "Good. Thank you."

Spencer and Alistair for "Your hair keeps falling into your eyes..."
Spencer leans in the doorway of the choir room, trying his best not to draw attention; he's barely breathed in the last five minutes. He doesn't want to distract Alistair who has been contentedly strumming away on his guitar by himself, humming softly under his breath.
His hair falls into his face, and he absentmindedly pushes it behind his ear for the tenth time. A smile twitches across Spencer's face, and he can't help himself as he says, "Now I see why you wear the beanie."
Alistair lifts his head, his eyes widening momentarily in surprise, then softening with the rest of his face as he smiles and furrows his brows inquiringly. Spencer steps into the room.
"Your hair keeps falling into your eyes," he says.
"Oh, yeah." Alistair chuckles, then tilts his head as if about to question how he knows that. He doesn't, though. He just pats the seat beside him before running a hand through his hair. "Yeah, the beanie usually keeps it back but it's way too hot today. And I've lost my last hairtie, so..."
Spencer drops into the chair beside him. "See, this is why I shave mine. Much easier to maintain." He then rolls up his sleeve and pulls a hairtie off of his wrist, to Alistair's puzzelment. "I've got a little sister who thinks she's Rapunzel. If I don't keep hold of a few, our mum's going to end up turning her into a mini-me."
Alistair chuckles again and turns slightly when Spencer motions him to do so. He gently begins pulling his hair back. He's met with not nearly as much complaining as he gets from his sister.
"What were you playing just now?" he asks softly as he scrapes his hair up a bit higher before securing it with the tie.
"Just something I've been writing. It's not quite done yet."
"Can I hear it anyway?"
Alistair turns back, hair now out of his face. His eyes dart over Spencer, who raises his eyebrows hopefully and says, "Boyfriend privileges?"
"You've played that card at least three times this week already." Then he rolls his eyes and pulls a notebook out of his lap. "Fine. Take these. It's supposed to be a duet."

the lovely @lastlightinternet tagged me in ye olde six song soundtrack for my ocs, presumably to cause me lasting psychic damage but unbeknownst to them i'm the Sound of my ocs Guy. so anyway they picked some guys and i made some soundtracks. i was really unwell about this. some of them escaped containment and got seven songs, even. i even annotated the playlists. enjoy.
i'm not tagging anyone specific but if you see this and you want to have a crack consider yourself tagged by me c: i linked all the songs on youtube but everything is available on spotify as well if thats more ur speed.
RIVA AMELL -
1. an event that defines their past: knock me down - youngblood hawke [circle. enough said.] 2. how they see themself: i was born, i have lived, i will surely die - young guns 3. how others see them: don't stop me now - queen 4. their closest dynamic: see you in a bit (i still care) - teen jesus and the jean teasers [in the context of origins i think many of his closest relationships are in a state of change and he is at a point of disillusionment with them & struggles to accept that he can be hurt by the actions of people he loved and trusted and still hold that love for them. many such cases for him, mostly people he knew in the circle.] be that as it may - herizen (the get down soundtrack) [the natural conclusion to the aforementioned arc. to me] 5. fight scene music: if u seek amy - britney spears 6. closing credits: blackbiird - beyoncé ft tanner adell, brittney spencer, tiera kennedy & reyna roberts
EIRA MAHARIEL -
1. an event that defines their past: o death - amy van roekel & jeff grace (until dawn official soundtrack) 2. how they see themself: labour in vain - mac the knife [she is depressed and angry but she has a job to do so she can't really care about all that rn. but she does <3] 3. how others see them: smile - wolf alice 4. their closest dynamic: physical - dua lipa [the way this absolutely does not fit on this playlist but it is The eira x alistair ride or die dynamic mental amv song to me. personally. also kind of doubles as a fight song to me because the play on physical (boinking) and Physical (beating the shit outta somebody with ur boyfie) is fun. to me.] 5. fight scene music: raise hell - dorothy 6. closing credits: i hope you dance - lee ann womack
BRONSON COUSLAND -
1. an event that defines their past: second chance - shinedown [there are not a lot of songs about your whole family being murdered by a trusted family friend. so mostly for the twins i did this based on their mental state Before That.] 2. how they see themself: broadfields - young guns 3. how others see them: i won't back down - tom petty 4. their closest dynamic: he ain't heavy (he's my brother) - the hollies [bronson is more shaped by bryant than the other way around so he gets this one. everything he does in origins is for the good of his brother. even some of the more bonkers things. he is not coping] because the night - patti smith [i had So many bronson/zevran songs in mind. ultimately this one made the cut because the Sound of it just works for the emotions they evoke. guys who remember the will to live together.] 5. fight scene music: gimme! gimme! gimme! (a man after midnight) - abba 6. closing credits: a beautiful life - dorothy
BRYANT COUSLAND -
1. an event that defines their past: caught up - chapel [this one stumped me for the longest time because So so much the cousland murder drives his whole character arc but uh. this sums up where he was Right before that pretty well!] 2. how they see themself: landslide - the chicks 3. how others see them: changes - david bowie 4. their closest dynamic: romeo and juliet - dire straits ["hey i know ur husband just died and also we had a screaming affair breakup like 10 months ago right before i was presumed dead but is now a good time to talk about getting married" is basically the same thing as "you and me babe, how 'bout it?" right? anyway bryant x anora song.] 5. fight scene music: holding out for a hero - jennifer saunders (shrek soundtrack) 6. closing credits: that's life - t-pain (live from the sun rose)
KATARI ADAAR -
1. an event that defines their past: rest in peace - dorothy [again there are not many songs that encapsulate the exact circumstances of her background and i refused to put a six60 song on this playlist so this works well enough <3] 2. how they see themself: missile - dorothy i like it heavy - halestorm [at this point i was just like there are So many dorothy songs in this lineup. i should throw something else in there. so i did. but i couldn't get rid of the other one it works too good] 3. how others see them: we will rock you - in this moment ft lzzy hale, marina brink & taylor momsen 4. their closest dynamic: black sheep - dorothy [inside her mercenary company that i invented from scratch are her chosen siblings so. this song is about them and their dynamic <3] 5. fight scene music: enter sandman - rina sawayama [this was so hard for her because so many of the songs on this playlist could double as fight scene songs. so for the last two i just picked songs that Sonically vibe since the lyrical heavy lifting was done earlier LOL] 6. closing credits: poison - starbenders
SYRACUSE TREVELYAN -
1. an event that defines their past: fuyu no hanashi - given (given soundtrack) [contextually this song is about grieving/moving on from a dead lover but without knowing the full nuances of the language it's vague enough that it COULD work about a dead sibling. see the vision] 2. how they see themself: towers (on my way) - young guns 3. how others see them: now come on now (mell hall remix) - KYE ft mell hall 4. their closest dynamic: if i fall you're going down with me - the chicks [again. many such bull x syracuse songs vying for the title but this one is just So funny and exactly how syracuse approaches that relationship. if he's experiencing love for the first time so are you. bitch.] 5. fight scene music: 365 - charli xcx 6. closing credits: this hell - rina sawayama

I am always safe with you...
For the amazing @simplybombshell and @onemoreparadise , inspired by their works (X) (X)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Cambridge, Massachusetts lived the Thompson-Spencer family.
They were a family who lived quietly and happily, enjoying every moment together.
This home consisted of a male couple, Jonathan Spencer and his husband, Alistair Thompson, and their adopted son, Elliott.
Jonathan worked as a quantitative analyst in a high-technology company in Boston. Efficient and competent, he was considered one of the best people in the company.
Meanwhile, Alistair was an American studies teacher at Harvard University. Recognised for his broad general knowledge and his pedagogy, his students and colleagues appreciated him.
In addition to teaching, he has written articles in academic journals and participated in conferences.
As for Elliott, who was a thirteen years old boy, he studied at the Boston Latin Academy.
He was a sweet boy, dreamy and very bright.
All three shared a close bond and enjoyed their lives together.
But today, Elliott would have liked to be somewhere other than in front of his blank paper. He had only his English essay to do, but he was not inspired.
The boy was annoyed: he had to hand in this essay at the next English class, which was in five days.
The subject didn't seem complicated, though. It was entitled: Feeling Safe.
It was a short subject but not an easy one to tackle.
Elliott felt discouraged: this bloody exercise was wasting his time!
"Elliott! Let's eat!" called his father.
The young boy got up and went downstairs to join his parents.
He sat down at the table and began to eat as his father Alistair asked him:
"So, have you finished your lessons?"
"Almost: I've still got an English essay to do."
"An essay? And what is the subject?" asked Jonathan.
"Feeling safe."
The two men looked at each other, quite surprised.
"Now, that's an interesting topic. There's a lot to say about it. And have you made any progress on your essay?" inquired Jonathan.
"No, that's just it: I can't find the right words."
"Why didn't you come to us for help earlier? I could have given you a hand," replied Alistair.
"I know, but I know you, Dad: you would do my whole paper. And my teacher would suspect something..."
"Eli is right, Alistair: when a subject raises your interest, you cannot help disserting on it as you do with your teaching sessions at university!" chuckled Mr Spencer.
"What can I say? This is professional deformation." smirked his husband before turning to Elliott.
"To answer your question, Eli, let me give you some advice: ask yourself how you feel safe. What makes you believe that nothing can happen to you? Is there anything that comforts you when you feel low? Think about it, and you might find the answer!"
Elliott nodded, his neurons already starting to find ideas for his essay.
"I'll do that. Who knows: it will inspire me?"
"In the meantime, finish your plate: it'll get cold!"
The meal continued in good spirits, and then Elliott returned to his room and wrote down all the ideas that came to mind on paper.
Then, he went to sleep: he would work on this essay tomorrow!
⏰⏰⏰
The next day.
Like yesterday, Elliott sat in front of his desk, ready to write his essay. This time, the young boy knew what to write.
And as he began to write the first lines of his essay, the young boy felt the inspiration coming to him. The more he wrote, the better he felt about his work: he was sure to get a good grade.
When he finished his assignment, the teenager reread his work to ensure he wrote everything correctly and had not missed any spelling mistakes.
Satisfied, he carefully placed his paper in a plastic bag and put it in his bag before tackling his maths exercises.
The teenager looked forward to showing his work to his parents when he received the grade.
Meanwhile, Alistair and Jonathan were in the living room, working: the quantitative analyst wrote a report on his computer while the teacher corrected papers.
Jonathan looked up from his screen and asked his husband:
"Do you have a lot of work to do?"
The teacher sighed:
"Don't mention it! I've got fifty essays to correct on the Gothic novel in Britain and France in 19th century, and I can't see the end of it! I would finish correcting these by Friday, so I don't have to work at the weekend."
Alistair asked:
"What about you? Are you managing to write that report?"
"Yes, but it's a bit tedious. At least once I've done it, I'll be free for the weekend!"
He added with a smile:
"Which gives me an idea..."
"You and your creativity! What do you have planned?" chuckled Alistair.
"Nothing extravagant..."
Jonathan put his arm around his husband's shoulders.
"I was thinking, Friday night, we could order food and have a movie night. A little night with just the three of us. What do you think?"
"It sounds tempting, and it's been a while since we've done anything together," Alistair agreed, resting his head on his partner's shoulder.
The analyst added:
"Besides, it's been a long time since we didn't spend quality time with Elliott. I don't want our son to feel cast away !"
"Eli is a cunning boy: he knows we all have a lot of work. He will love your idea: I can feel it!"
Little did the two men know that Elliott had a surprise planned for Friday night. And he hoped they would like it.
⛅⛅⛅⛅⛅⛅
On Friday, late afternoon.
As he pushed open the door to his house, Elliott had a smile on his face: it was finally the weekend! But it wasn't just the prospect of rest that put the young boy in a good mood: so far, his surprise went just as he had planned.
His enthusiasm didn't escape his fathers.
"Hi, sweetie. How was your day?" asked Alistair.
"It was good, but I wanted to go home."
"Tell me about it!"
"And did you get any grades? Any homework?" requested Jonathan.
"Yes. Remember my Feeling Safe essay? I got the grade today!"
"Ah yes, that famous essay! Verdict?"
Elliott's smile widened.
"I got an A+."
"You did? Well done, my little writer!" the analyst smiled, kissing his son on the forehead.
"This is something to celebrate. What should we order for dinner? Italian or Indian? Unless you want Chinese food?" suggested the teacher.
"Pizza!" the teenager exclaimed, making his parents laugh.
"Go for the pizza !" smiled Alistair as he dialled the local pizzeria to order the menu.
Thirty minutes later, their order arrived, and the family prepared to eat their dinner when Elliott asked:
"Before we eat, do you want to read my essay ?"
"Well, why not? Let's see what you did !"
Elliott picked up his essay and handed it to his parents, who saw the A+ mark written in bright red.
They read the comment from the teacher:
Excellent work, with personal and moving elements. Keep up the good work!
"Well, well: being complimented by Mr Cooper is an achievement!" smirked Jonathan.
"I am the only student in my class to get an A+ on this homework!"
"That is a double achievement !" whistled Alistair.
The two men started to read the essay.
Feeling Safe by Elliott Spencer-Thompson.
"Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person; having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but to pour them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then, with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away."
"How cute! He quotes an author, just like his dad !" joked Jonathan.
"Stop teasing me and continue to read !" replied Alistair with a smile.
"Your wish is my command, darling !" replied his husband as he pursued the reading.
In this quote, George Eliot expressed one of the main goals in men's life: feeling safe.
We feel safe when we come home, especially when our loved ones surround us.
This need for safety, whether physical or psychological, is a distant echo of the survival instinct of our prehistoric ancestors. You can't survive for long if you don't find people to count on.
We seek shelter from what might harm us since our first days.
Our innocence makes us believe that nothing can happen to us because we have not yet experienced the disillusionment and cruelty of the world.
I thought I would always be safe because my biological parents were there for me.
I didn't try to understand when my mother asked me to play a game: to close my eyes and count to thirty. My father promised me a surprise if I did it.
I obeyed, and I got my surprise: the surprise of not seeing my parents anymore.
From then on, all my certainties collapsed: not all adults protect you. Sometimes they abandon you.
It is a hard lesson to learn for a four-year-old boy.
It took me a long time to relearn how to feel that sensation of being loved.
Today I can say that I feel safe.
No doubt people will ask me: what does it mean to me to feel safe?
For me, feeling safe is many things at the same time.
I feel safe when my dad Jonathan said he loves me.
I feel safe because my dad Alistair watches over me when I am sick.
I feel safe because they take me in their arms when I'm upset or sad.
I feel safe because when I cried at night, remembering the awful day my biological parents left me alone in a crowd, they rushed to my side, promising to always be there for me.
I feel safe because they teach me so many things. It can go from the behaviour in society to my cultural knowledge.
I feel safe because they taught me to trust and tell them everything.
I feel safe because they helped to become a good man.
I don't forget I have friends I trust and love, but nothing is more important than my parents.
I know some people disapprove that two men could raise a child.
We might not share genes, but we share a love, respect and trust bond.
I don't want any other family than the two men who gave me their last names and added me to their lives.
That's why I am eager to come home after school because, every time I cross the threshold of my house, I immediately feel better.
And it started when I hear their voices saying "Welcome Home".
I hope when I become an adult, I will provide the family I will create the same feeling of safety and love my parents provided me.
To conclude, I would say that feeling safe is an incredible luck I am grateful to have, thanks to my parents. Because with them, I will always feel safe.
Elliott began worrying when he saw tears shining in his fathers' eyes.
"Are you okay?"
Jonathan hastened to answer, wiping his eyes:
"Yes, yes, I'm fine. It's a lot of emotions all at once!"
"How did you write all this?" asked Alistair.
The teenager shrugged, a little embarrassed.
"When I told you I was struggling with this essay, you suggested I ask myself what made me feel safe. I thought about it, and I knew the answer."
Elliott smiled shyly.
"I remembered the day when the social worker told me people wanted to adopt me. I was so scared! Then, I saw you, and something inside me told me I could go with you. I will always be grateful to give a new start!"
"Come here, you !" exclaimed Alistair, who hugged his son, joined by Jonathan.
The family of three enjoyed the hug before parting.
Alistair ran a hand through his son's hair.
"Your essay proved that we did our job as your parents. It is the least we can do for you."
"You changed our lives forever and in the best way. With you, we are a family," added Jonathan as he kissed his son.
"Something we waited for a long time," nodded the teacher as he wiped his tears.
Alistair glanced at the pizzas.
"Oh my! The pizza must be cold now!"
"Because you cried on it!" joked his husband.
"You cried too!"
Elliott laughed at his parents' banter.
It was these moments that makes him feel good, like sharing a relaxing evening with his two dads.
These moments make him feel safe and loved.
Thanks for reading the story !
I hope you enjoyed it!
Feel free to request !
Take care of you! 😘😊😊🥰

Though Lovers Be Lost - Part 2
He shouldn't have let Alistair's concerns bother him, this was his chance. Finally he'd show everyone that he was just as good an agent as Harry. That he wasn't just there by default. Then perhaps the whispers, the snide remarks and judging looks would all stop.
Of course, Ali insisted it was all in his head. That no one saw him as unworthy of his place, but he didn't see the way Harry looked at him. With all that…regret.
Yeah, well Harry only had himself to blame, didn't he. If he'd done his job properly, then Lee would have survived.
But if Lee hasn't sacrificed himself to save them all, would he be Lancelot now? James didn't know, and that was the worst part.
All through training, he and Lee had been rivals, but also friends. Unlike the other recruits, Lee Unwin had been a genuinely decent man. From the moment they'd shaken hands, James had liked him, but also envied him. He was so confident, friendly, and handsome.
And he had far better motivation to succeed. Needing to prove he wasn't the useless sod his family believed him to be, paled in comparison to Lee wanting to provide a better life for his wife and small child.
So, yes, deep down, James knew who would be sitting at that table had Harry fucking Hart done his bloody job.
Pulling up to the shop, James stepped out of the cab and jogged up the marble steps. The place was dark, still hours away from opening, but he knew it wasn't empty. He pressed the buzzer and waited. A second later the latch disconnected and he strolled inside.
"Good morning, Sir" The young security guard greeted with surprise. It was barely morning, if they were both honest. Dawn was still hours away, but James was on a deadline.
"William." James nodded with as bright a smile as he could manage at 3am and headed for the armoury.
As he stepped into the large room hidden behind one of the fitting room walls, he replayed his conversation with Alistair. The tired desperate way he'd pleaded for him not to leave.
I have a bad feeling about this.
James' stomach twisted and a shiver went through him, as he reached for a weapon. The thing was, Ali had never been wrong. He had an almost sixth sense for trouble. He'd teased him countless times about it. His own personal Peter Parker, James had joked every time the man saved their lives.
So listen to him now.

WIP Wednesday
Thank you @martsonmars @facewithoutheart and @urban-sith for the tags.
This time, I’m doing something different than a new snippet of Paradiso and I’d cry a river just for you. Welcome to the WIP Wednesday Hospital Ward. This is inspired by @facewithoutheart’s WIP Wednesday Graveyard, where she laid her WIPs that she will not finish to rest. I really, really liked that idea, but I quickly realised that I have the intent of finishing my WIPs and I will finish them. That’s a threat. To me.
(Besides, I don’t look back to my abandoned fics. Oops. Not even a funeral!)
So instead of a graveyard, I welcome you to the (long-stay) hospital ward where my 10 patients will be waiting for me until I can tend to their needs.
Please mask up, wash your hands, and leave your names at the visitors’ list @quizasvivamos @coffeegleek @captain-aralias @redheadgleek @dragoneggo @crissmastrees-and-candyklaines @esperantoauthor and other possible visitors!
Get ready, it’s a big hospital ward. I have... a lot of WIPs.
Patient no. 1 is a fic that I started writing before the release of AWTWB, so before we knew that Baz isn’t immortal. In this AU, Simon dies during his showdown with The Mage and Baz lives on on his own. (EDIT: I should maybe add that Simon’s still in this fic as a Visitor! Baz lives his immortal life, living for the moments that he gets to see Simon, which happen every 20 years.)
I almost did not go to the funeral.
In the end, I decided to go there to support Bunce. I wonder if I will ever forget the image of her screaming and clinging to Simon’s lifeless body. I don’t think I ever will.
It was short and, well, sweet. It was a private funeral. The entire World of Mages could mourn their Chosen One, the Greatest Mage who sacrificed himself to defeat the Humdrum.
We mourned Simon.
Patient no. 2 is a fix-it that I started recently after watching the glee episode A Wedding. Long story short, the Klaine and Brittana wedding is stupid, my boys and girls deserve better.
“But... But what?” Kurt asks, desperate to make some sense out of this situation.
“But... not like this,” Blaine squeezes Kurt’s hands. Kurt blinks, and he looks shocked, so Blaine starts to feel the panic rise. They just got back together and now he’s messing it up all over again.
In a rush of panic, he starts rambling. “I love you, so, so much and I do wanna marry you. You know I do. I asked you to marry me and I still want that for us, but our time apart made me realise that it’s okay to take things slow-”
“Blaine.”
Patient no. 3 once got mentioned in a Myosotis sylvatica author’s note, and that’s the last we heard of them. It’s a Kitty x Roderick fic called Drive Darling. Yes, it’s glee. Yes, these are glee characters. No I don’t blame you if you stopped watching before they appeared.
Alistair immediately kisses Spencer when he gets in.
“Only Roderick left!” Madison says happily.
“Oh, we gotta make a group photo for Myron,” Alistair suggests and Kitty still has troubles believing that Alistair is capable of talking. He’s incredibly shy, but Spencer makes him feel comfortable.
“We can do that at Roderick’s place,” Madison suggests, “He has a big garden.”
“You’ve been to Rod’s?” Spencer asks. It’s not a weird question. They barely hang out at Roderick’s place.
“A couple of times, yeah,” Madison answers and Kitty feels a pit in her stomach. She’s jealous. She knows where this feeling is coming from, but she tries to push it away.
Speaking of underrated ships, I’m not going to tell you what fandom patient no. 4 is from. If someone knows, please tell me. I will send puppies.
“Okay, whatever, why did you need to talk to me?”
Luke takes a deep breath. “So, before I met you, I asked Clyde about girls, so he taught me about girls.”
“I heard about that,” Rani waves it away. In fact, Clyde has told her everything, since he thought it was rather amusing that Luke got his first kiss in front of his mum.
“Now, I need you to teach me about boys.”
My longest running WIP is A rip in time, a Doctor Who universe crossover. I hope to have patient no. 5 discharged before the 13th Doctor leaves us.
All four Doctors are in their respective TARDISes and the companions take their time to explore the four space ships.
“I really like the addition of books,” Sarah Jane browses through the bookcases in Twelve’s TARDIS.
“Keep looking, Sarah,” Twelve says.
“For what?” Sarah Jane asks again. All Doctors seem to believe that one of the TARDISes has the key to the way out.
“Just… keep looking,” Twelve doesn’t sound convinced, but what else can they do.
Sarah Jane also sees a bookcase filled with old VHS tapes. She picks one up. “Marco Polo?” she reads out loud, “What do you mean, Marco Polo?”
“Oh, just one of my missing adventures. I call them my missing episodes,” Twelve says nonchalantly, while he’s reading the TARDIS’s scanner. He apologises to his ship before banging his fist against the monitor. “Come on, old girl, help me out.”
Patient no. 6 is a Zimbits Instagram influencer fic with a strong Lardo and Jack friendship.
“Cool. So, can I borrow that? I’ll buy you a beer.”
“I don’t drink,” Jack says and he holds the camera closer to this body.
Larissa notices and she raises an eyebrow. “You don’t want me to borrow it, do you?”
Jack slowly shakes his head. This woman, Larissa, has no idea what she’s asking of him. She doesn’t know what this camera stands for. She doesn’t know how this camera and Jack’s love for photography have brought light into his life after years of darkness.
She doesn’t know that this camera replaced his hockey stick.
I woefully admit that I forgot that patient no. 7 existed but I was going through my general Glee fic Word document and I came across Met hoeveel letters spel je dat, which is the unofficial second version of my abandoned Amsterdam die mooie stad, which has been a fic idea that’s been in my head since 2013 or something. Now that I’m writing Klaine in the Netherlands, I laughed when I found this. This patient has been on this ward for a long, long time.
“Stel Je Voor Draken,” Koen says, “It’s a small Amsterdam-based band. They’re really good. They mostly sing covers, but recently, they started playing some original songs.”
“Stel Je Voor Draken?” Kurt asks, “That name sounds ridiculous!”
“I know! That’s why they are so amazing,” Koen says excitedly, “Come on, Kurt. You’ve gotten better at understanding Dutch. What do you think Stel Je Voor Draken stands for?”
“Draken… dragons,” Kurt starts translating, but it’s difficult. He knows that je or jij means you. “Dragons… you… what do stel and voor mean? Stel… for. Dragons for you?”
“I’m gonna make it easier for you. What is voorstellen? There are two options. The first one is ‘introducing’, but the second one…” Koen trails off, waiting for Kurt to continue.
“See in front of you,” Kurt tries, “Im-Imagine. Imagine dragons?”
“Exactly!” Koen makes a small twirl with his bike, which is probably not a safe thing to do in the middle of the street. “It is an Imagine Dragons cover band.”
I’m riding the Dutch train for patient no. 8, but this isn’t a story that only takes place in the Netherlands. It’s a glee x Sense8 crossover that takes place in New York, San Juan, Jacksonville, Dublin, Amsterdam, Cebu City, Ljubljana and Melbourne. I don’t think I am ever going to fully write this fic. Maybe I’ll just post random snippets without it being a cohesive story, but I did publish an introduction to the Sensates here.
Artie sighs and he turns around and he sees that he’s stopped right in front of a body of water. That shouldn’t be here.
“You were about to dive right into the canal,” Puck says, “I had to stop you. Welcome to Amsterdam.”
Puck is right. Artie’s seen photos of Amsterdam, so this is definitely it. It’s dark outside and the air is chilly. They’re no longer in Melbourne.
“Am I contact high?” he asks Puck.
“I’m sober,” Puck tells him, “At least, I am now.”
“But… this is Amsterdam? This is really Amsterdam?”
Puck grins when he sees the excited look on Artie’s face. No one understands what just happened, but if he’s really in Amsterdam, then that is pretty amazing.
“Amsterdam, die mooie stad…”
“... met hoeveel letters spel je dat?” Artie finishes.
“You speak Dutch?” Puck asks in amazement.
“No.”
Puck pats Artie’s shoulder. “What the fuck is going on?”
“I don’t know,” Artie answers. Then, embarrassed, he asks: “But, uh, can you wheel me to the Red Lights District?”
Puck laughs loudly. “Tour de la Hoer, here we come!”
Truly, both don’t understand what just happened, but they can think about that later. This might not even be real, so Artie decides to enjoy it for as long as it lasts.
Patient no. 9 has been here for a while. It’s a Zimbits timetravel fanfic.
“Jack, calm the hell down. What has happened, has happened, and there is no way to change it. Besides, I wouldn’t change it for the world.” He holds up his left hand.
Jack looks down on his left hand. He will marry this man one day, and all because they met at Samwell.
Maybe that is why his future self doesn’t want Jack to know what is going to happen to him. What if future him remembers it wrongly? What if Jack wakes up in 2009 in four days, and he knows what is going to happen at the draft, and he will change his future?
Maybe his future self is just securing his life with Bitty.
“Oh.”
And lastly, patient no. 10 and I am so sorry to this fic, since my computer tells me that I haven’t opened this document since 2018. It’s once again a glee fanfic and it’s about Asian identity, diversity and intersectionality. Tina, Mike, Blaine and Wes are the main characters. Tina’s story is about being adopted into a white family, Mike’s about moving to America as a young child, Blaine’s about being biracial and Wes’s about being the child of immigrants.
Glee sometimes made their identity the butt of the joke (or they erased it in Blaine’s case) and this is me trying to give the jokes about Asian camp and Asian online forums a place.
There’s so much diversity in the Dalton Asian Union. Wes hates it when people all lump Asia together and basically call it China. Wes grew up in a traditionally Chinese household. His parents moved to America to flee the Cultural Revolution and Mao’s dictatorship when they had the chance. At home, Wes speaks Mandarin with his parents, but English slips in every now and then. Sure, they changed their last names in order to have a better chance of getting a job, but that’s not because they hate being Chinese. No, America is just racist.
In the DAU, there are a lot of students who can relate to that. There are other Chinese students, but also Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, and so on. Just like Wes, they all hate the fact that people immediately assume everyone’s Chinese. Asia isn’t even South East Asia only. There are also Pakistani and Syrian students in the DAU, because that’s Asia!
Outside the DAU, Wes is also part of the Ohio Asian Forum and he has two internet friends. Tina XxGothGirlTayTayxX, who is Korean, and Mike AsianDancer, who is Chinese as well. He’s never met them, but that is the beauty of the internet. He has told them about Blaine and they both agree that Blaine should be able to join the DAU.
Wes has tried telling Blaine that, but Blaine is sure he won’t join.
“I’ll never feel fully at ease, Wes,” he’d said and Wes was angry about that. The DAU is diverse. There are already other Filipino students in the DAU, so why can’t Blaine join?
Or better yet: why do they still give Blaine the feeling he can’t join or that he doesn’t belong? It basically sends a message to white-passing students that they’re not Asian enough.
Wow, that were 10 patients! If you’ve made it to the end, thank you for paying all of them a visit. Feel free to leave flowers.

Undercover Part 1
part 1, part 2
Tumblr media
Overview: the BAU has gone undercover to find a potential unsub who has been drugging, raping and murdering women. It own becomes a potential victim. Having to play her part to catch the bad guy, you go to the party all dressed up and dance with a potential murderer all while pretending he is someone else, Spencer Reid.
TW: drugs, rape (it is mentioned how the unsub rapes his victims. the reader is drugged and the unsub takes advantage of her being drugged and begins to take off her dress), murder, sex, adult themes. if these types of things are triggering for you please don’t read. I’m just a average person who tried their best to not cause people to be upset. If this is problematic I’m sorry I didn’t mean for it to be and will take it down.
Relationship: Spencer Reid x (female)reader
word count: 3,384
Author’s note: so this is my first ever Criminal Minds story. If it garners enough attention I will do more parts (honestly even if it doesn’t I probably will lol) PSA: I have never been under the influence of MDMA and honestly I don’t judge if people who do it consensually and safely (which is harder said then done). this is how I imagine it to be like to be on it. Also I like writing and I like sharing my writing because all of the great fan fics that cause me happiness, if I can cause that reaction just to one person that’s enough for me
You would do anything to save the world. Maybe it was a hero complex, maybe it was some form of glory seeking, or maybe it was the only way you knew how to fill the dark abyss you felt when you did nothing of importance. Being a part of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, helped with that. Being on the team gave you everything you needed, a family and a way to save others. Maybe saying you love your job isn’t the correct way to explain your emotions but you knew no better way. Although you wish a job like this wasn’t necessary and didn’t even exist, it did.
Your team meant the world to you and you would contribute almost in any way to help find an unknown subject. So when Penelope Garcia was able to connect the killings in New York City to some private “rich people” clubs, her and the team created a plan to infiltrate.
The victimology was specific. It was all rich young women ranging from the ages 19-30 who just moved into the city to find themselves.
The profile was an easy one to figure out. He was obviously a troubled young white male who was probably an heir of some sort. He was richer than what most people think is rich. He usually meets the victim at a high society social event. Then he’d take them to a more exclusive social event. After that he would drug them with MDMA, rape and kill them.
It was hard for the BAU to get much out of the enclosed and tight group of New York’s most elite families. So going undercover at an event where the unsub could potentially hunt for prey was what made most sense. Your jobs was to observe the women and men there and try to see if any of you could fish out the unsub.
They had done it in the past but usually they did their best work by watching and observing. So here the team was, their second night in a row all dolled up in fancy cocktail dresses at some art gallery. Tara Lewis and Luke Alves stood around a table pretending to talk to each other as they observed potential victims. Jennifer Jareau, Spencer Reid, and Matt Simmons stood at another end of the room checking for the potential unsub, while your unit chief, Emily Prentiss, and you were pretending to be alone at the event eavesdropping on rich families. You listened to those around you while also scanning the room looking for potential young white men talking to lone young women. “Ten o’clock to the creepy face painting,” you heard Alvez say in your small earpiece. You calmly turned pretending to look at the other art pieces and saw a white male in his mid-thirties walking up to a female. He placed his hand on her low back as he leaned in to talk to her. Emily being the closest nearby out of you two, moved closer acting like she was going for some hors d’oeuvres. “That’s not him. He’s too drunk. I can smell all the alcohol he has consumed. He would need to be smoother than that,” Emily whispered as she took a sip of her glass. That’s how most of the night went. We followed and stared at people who might be the unsub and then filed them out. You felt yourself losing hope. You hated this part of the job. The one that made you feel like the profile was wrong and you all would have to start over, which there was never time to start over. Someone could die. That’s when you felt a hand touch the small of your back, your body tensed up immediately. “Relax,” he whispered in your ear. But you didn’t need to force it, because when you turned to look at the person who touched you, you were met with the face of beauty and your body instantly relaxed. You knew this was a dangerous reaction, as would probably many of Ted Bundy’s victims.
The man before you had slicked back short dark hair, bright blue eyes, strong symmetry in his facial features, and strong cheek and jaw bones. He smiled wickedly at you, causing you to intake a sharp breath. It was so sinister but also so beautiful. It wasn’t the most beautiful smile you’d ever seen, no that was reserved for your teammate, best friend, and love of your life (even if he didn’t know it) Spencer Reid. Now, Spencer’s smile was one you could get lost in. You refocused yourself to the beautiful man in front of you. “They say the artist intended for this particular piece to show trauma while he was drinking. His other pieces are other emotions on different drugs,” his deep voice rattled through your ears. You wanted to unwrap yourself from this man’s embrace. How dare he touch you like that without your permission. “Play along,” Luke spoke as he saw a scowl beginning to form on your lips, “he could be the unsub.” You smoothed the scowl into a smile. “It doesn’t look like it depicts trauma,” you responded dumbly. The man before you cocked his head to the side giving you a lopsided smile. “I guess it all depends on how someone experiences trauma,” the smile now wicked, and scarier. A shiver went up your spine. “Are you cold?” He asked, noticing it, while looking you up and down like he could devour you. “No,” your voice came out scratchy as your throat went dry. You cleared it politely. “Just thinking-” “About your own trauma?” He asked. You could hear the fake tone of concern. That snapped you out of your fear. The pictures of all the murdered women that brought the BAU to this case flashed before your eyes. “Maybe,” the smile you plastered on your face was a one you knew he wanted, a sad smile. You were going to play this role like it’s no one's business because you were here to catch a bad guy and if flirting with a creep got you there then so be it. He leaned in closer to your ear, “my name is Alistair Constantine,” you immediately recognized the name. It was on the list of potential unsubs for the profile. His family’s money was old, going back to the revolutionary war. The family seemed to always be updating with the times and never losing that money. You leaned into his other ear and introduced yourself.
Spencer’s hands were clutched at his side as he watched you interact with the Constantine boy. He felt in his gut at this moment, Alastair was the unsub. The way he was looking at you, it was like you were a quest to conquer. Spencer knew he couldn’t just come up, break you two apart and blow the whole investigation but boy did he want to.
Alastair paraded you around the room.  Every now and then he would talk to fellow members of the society. It took everything in you to pretend that you didn’t want to beat his ass right then and there. You were always an imaginative kid growing up so you blocked out the gruesome pictures of the crime scenes and instead pretended this was your life a young New York woman getting special treatment from a handsome man. It was easier to fit the rom-com role then what was actually happening. Alistair stopped in front of a painting that was particularly psychedelic looking with bright pastel colors. “This is my favorite piece by the artist. This was when he was on Ecstasy. Look at the happiness and distorted-ness to the art. It’s amazing,” he gushed. It would have been odd that he picked this particular painting to attach too, but it was a strong tie to the method of his killings. “Humankind cannot bear very much of reality,” you spoke out, breaking Spencer from his thoughts about if they had enough information to convict Alistair for the murders. Alistair looked at you funny, not understanding why you would say that. “T. S. Eliot” you told Alistair while Spencer whispered it at the same time. a ghost of a smile playing on your lips when you heard Spencer’s voice. “It’s what I think of when I look at this art. T. S. Eliot is one of my favorite poets,” you blushed at your admission. It felt like for a second, with having just heard Spencer’s voice, that you were talking to him instead of Alistair. Spencer was now looking straight at you two. His eyes held bewilderment, he has known you for years and you never once mentioned this, and he knew you knew this was something he cared about.
“Indeed,” Alistair yawned.
The next 30 minutes was you telling him how you’d grown up in Boston, Massachusetts, that you had no close relatives anymore, and how when your parents died their life savings all went to you (all of it true), the lie came when it was to talk about why you moved to New York City, what you wanted to do with your life etc. And he ate it up every second. You played the roll of being the lonely damsel in a big city trying to find the answer to life. You were his ideal victim and you knew that he didn’t even question how perfect you were.
The night ended with an invite to the society’s ball tomorrow night, and Prentiss fed your ear a fake address for Alistair to send a car to tomorrow. You ordered an Uber to the address where Emily said they’ll pick you up to not seem suspicious in case Alistair sent someone to follow you. Once at the address the FBI’s SUV pulled up and you got in. It was Spencer who picked you up, which was unusual, as he never liked driving. You climbed onto the passenger seat and saw his knuckles were white from the strength of his grip on the steering wheel. It didn’t take a profiler to know Spencer was mad. “Spencer, are you alright?” You approached with a soft whisper. There was a pause of silence, Spencer calculating if he should be honest. He eventually gave into the truth as he knew that he couldn’t hide it from you. “No,” he growled, the anger in his voice causing you to jump in surprise. “No, I am not okay. That man is a murderer and he was holding you in his arm! You two were practically dancing around the room in there. We have put you in danger and now, now you are his next target, his next victim!” he hit the wheel in anger. You had never seen Spencer this angry before. Most times when Spencer got angry, he got smart and he used his logic to fight but now he sounded emotional. “Spencer,” you raised your voice, “I am not a victim, I’m an agent. I will do what it takes to protect others. Just like you.” In anger Spencer swerved the car to the side and put it in park. “Dammit, You don’t get it,” he yelled and turned towards you. “If he is our unsub, which we both know he is, I’ve run the calculations and the risk is too high for you,” his hands flying everywhere in gestures, “There are too many dependent variables. There isn’t enough for us to control. The probability of you getting hurt or,” he stopped to collect himself, and in a quieter voice said, “or worse, it’s too high. I’ve run the math.” Now that sounded more like the Spencer you knew. A soft smile crept onto your lips, then you quickly neutralized your face, in hopes he wouldn’t see the way his concern for you made you feel. And You couldn’t do that to yourself. You couldn’t let yourself feel happiness when Spencer showed you affection, because it eventually just leads to heart break. Subconsciously, you turned more towards him in your seat, “In your math is there probability that we get this guy and he never gets the opportunity to hurt another woman again?” You asked. Spencer gave you a pained look like he knew where you were going. You countered that look with one that told him to answer the question. He let out a heavy sigh, “yes. There is that possibility.” You smiled at him knowing you won the argument, “That settles it then.”
With everyone back in the small conference room at the police station, the conversation began about what to do tomorrow. No one was pleased that one of their own is now the target but there was truth that the situation was now more in the BAU’s control than before. Everyone also believed in you. They knew the risk and that scared them but also you are a Special Advisory Agent for a reason. Relief did not fill you but neither did dread, when you thought of the plan. You were doing the right thing. It didn’t matter if you were going to put yourself in danger.
Spencer kept pressing the heel of his hands into his eyes. Something that happened when he started to get headaches and you could guess this headache was caused by stress. As the rest of the team started packing up, you stared at your best friend hurting over the stress you were causing. You took a seat next to Spencer. He was still wearing his suit from the party. “We are going to be okay tomorrow,” you comforted him. He looked up at you, “I’m not worried about all of us, I’m worried about you,” he confessed. Once again, you knew these words shouldn’t have an effect on you like they did, but it did and this time there was something that felt hidden behind those words, something more. “I trust you not to let anything happen to me,” You countered and placed your hand on his forearm to comfort him. You looked in his eyes and tried to let him know that there is more than just trust there.
The day of the ball, you got ready in the police station bathroom. It wasn’t exactly how you imagined to be getting ready for your first ball in New York City. You’d rather be wearing this gown for other reasons than going undercover to catch a murderer rapist. The Givenchy dress Garcia picked out was gorgeous (as you instructed her to get a designer to fit in the crowd and you would float the bill). It was a long evening dress in blue and green with a gradient-effect. The top had long puffed sleeves, deep V-neckline, and waist accentuated with smooth lamé and long flared skirt. You put your hair up in a loose low bun. The makeup you did was a smooth eye with long flair eyeliner. You put a heavy amount of glow highlighter on your cheek bones and collar bones to accentuate the deep v cut the dress.
You felt ridiculous walking out of the bathroom into the police station wearing your dress. But the way Spencer looked at you was something powerful and intoxicating, making you forget your embarrassment. You strode up to him. A small smile played on your lips looking up at him. You saw him also smiling at you “You’re almost as tall as me,” he blurted out. You let out a small laugh, “‘I guess that’s what heels will do,” you smiled looking down at your feet. Spencer felt ridiculous that’s what he said. He should have told you how amazing you looked or how your beauty felt like the sun- always pulling him in and having his thoughts orbit around you. But he wasn’t good with voicing his feelings (especially in a room with his colleagues).
“We are going to have Officer Melinda Jackson drive you over to the apartment, And stake out the car. She’ll be on the radio the whole time till you are in range with us. We will be at the Capitale when you get there.” Emily disclosed as she strapped on a microphone and earpiece.
You stepped out of the car with your head held high even though your anxiety was on another level. “i’m here,” you whispered. “We are here too,” Tara responded. Everyone disclosed where each one was to you. The venue was massive and beautiful. The ceiling was tall with ornate decorations. The lighting was a bright orangish glow. As you examined the room, checking each point of your team, you also saw Alistair. He was at the bar with what looked like to be a group of his friends. Spencer not too far behind them. You walked towards Alistair but kept your eyes on Spencer. He took your breath away dressed in a tux and his hair slicked back like he used to when he was younger. It felt like your heart was lit on fire just by looking at him all dressed up. He was staring at you intensely. It wasn’t that the world stopped the moment your eyes met his, but it was more like everything else just didn’t matter. You knew you’d have to look away soon to not give away anything but you took him in for just one more second. “You look amazing,” you heard a voice next to you say. You turned to see the ever good looking Alistair. He wore a navy 3 piece suite with a large Gucci tag on the sleeve, and a large Gucci flower pinned on his chest. You gave him a soft smile and returned his compliment. “I want to introduce you to my family. Their approval means everything,” he offered you his arm. You took it tentatively,  Spencer watched him lead you away, and he pondered on Alistair’s odd statement about family approval.
Alistair’s family was everything you’d expect. They were proper and pompous. However they liked you, a lot. You fell right into the role you had to play. You stood there laughing and engaged in the conversation with his mom and cousin.
“Shall we dance?” Alistair asked, giving you his hand, as your conversation with his sister came to an end. You nodded and let him take you to the dance floor.
He spun you out and brought you back in close to start the dancing. You gave him a bright smile at his eccentric action. You closed your eyes and let your mind pretend it was Spencer holding you. You followed his lead as he twirled you both around the dance floor. “Stop dancing, we can’t see you,” Spencer frantically said into your ear piece. You snapped your eyes open. Taking in that you were on a secluded corner of the dance floor by an exit door. “You are special. My family, They like you” Alistair said with a sense of manic to it. “you aren’t like the others,” he admitted. His voice sounded different. It was sinister with a tinge of adoration. He pulled you close, so close that his fingers dug into your hand and back. You felt like your brain was freezing up in fear. How many times had you been in fear inducing situations and why did your brain pick now to not work. “you’re hurting me,” you groaned trying to pull yourself away. “Where are you” JJ yelled but then you felt mist hit you, and your mind begin to make things fuzzy, “the left corner, the spray…in the flower,” you breathed out, hoping the team could hear you. You heard a rattle of commands to your co-workers from Emily. Then it went black.
Spencer rushed through the crowd to find you but by the time he got to the corner you told him you were at, you were gone. “She’s not here,” Spencer panicked into the ear piece. “I just saw a black Tesla leave, license plate delta, alpha, hotel nine, one, two ” Luke informed them. “Call and ask them to run it”, Rossi said urgently. “on it,” Luke replied. “JJ and Reid, go talk to the mom and sister, Tara and Matt split up and talk to his friends and the other family members. They have to know where they are,” Emily demanded
