today is: The Written Word Over You by AlibiRooms

it’s a modern cult au, with adora and catra having been separated for four years after adora left the cult because she realized she was gay. catra left eventually too but she has a long way to go after being there longer than adora and still adjusting to the outside world. they left things on a bad note, catra furious with adora for leaving and adora furious with catra for staying, so there’s a lot of healing that needs to be done.

it’s a really compelling read in part because of how adamant the author is about the importance of agency when healing from trauma. adora is very in character and it’s when she’s at her worst (honestly the last few chapters) that we see how much trauma she still hasn’t dealt with. like in canon, it’s less loud than catra’s, but it’s still obvious when she can barely bring herself to believe she’s worthy of love. there’s a heck ton of hurt/comfort and and i’d rec it to anyone with 9 hours that they weren’t planning on wasting for sleep

Coming to terms with your childhood is a lot more difficult when you grew up in an orphanage/cult with very strict ideas about religion. Adora ran away, Catra burned the bridge, and neither of them are sure how to act when they meet again five years later.

College-AU about friendship, found family, and how much five years can really change a person.

We have had to take a pause recently to collect ourselves after the sudden loss of our dear Ross.

He has been with us since the start of our beer journey in 2010 up until the last pints we had with him recently in 2022. He was a boyfriend, our brother in beer, our best friend, and an all around amazing human being.

Ross was with us on our best beer adventures; London, Brussels, Copenhagen, Los Angeles, Austin, Portland, Seattle, Burlington and all the darlings of Vermont. He found us all the best places to drink, eat, and sought out all the best music in our travels. He was a constant in our lives and our circle of friends.

We want to share the joy he brought to our lives with you here, it just took some time to see through the tears.

Thank you for your gifts of friendship and love. We will hold onto them forever.

So, I barely use Tumblr anymore, but I follow the writer of this fic on Twitter and it's the best goddamn fanfic I've ever read and want to try and get more people to check it out, because even know it feels criminally under appreciated in the fandom right now.

It centers around healing and growing from trauma in such a real way that makes me feel feelings. I hope other people also get as much out of it as me, I read it to feel better a lot of the time.
