Is there any disappointment more crushing than putting together an excruciatingly specific multi-tag search on AO3 and getting exactly one hit, only to discover that it's an anthology piece where each of the tags in your search applies to a different "chapter" and no two of them are ever in the same place at the same time?

System friends, what's the weirdest place you've experienced anti-endo stuff? A server for a certain game we ADORE recently added pk/tupper which, cool. Except they require you fill out a form to be allowed to use them or get the system role. And part of that, apparently, is you have to be a "real" system, as in traumagenic. Cant even support endo systems at all.

And this is like. THE server for the game, the creator's official announcements go there, this isn't a fan-made server. (The game is salyfaec - spelled the game title wrong on purpose bc I don't want issues with regular fans of the game etc.) I'm just. So sick of the mod team there & we only joined it for the SF emotes anyway. Kept announcement pings on bc the creator does merch giveaways & stuff but I hate getting mod announcements about how systems can use PK now but only the right kinds and it's not for roleplay and if you age regress you shouldn't be allowed on Discord til you're not anymore.

It's fine to have that be a rule for the server, as the mods were right that it shouldn't be their responsibility to interact with kids of any kind, even if our Little host is capable of masking & pantomiming being an adult, as an example. Fully fine with that. What I'm not fine with is being told that, based on what they said in their announcement on the matter, if we have a Little in front, or a regressed alter, etc, we shouldn't use Discord at all. Excuse you but if our syskids want to use our private server that only has our partner system in it, or the system server we have for ONLY close friends who actively help care for said kids, that we are breaking Discord TOS.

Bitch my ID says I was born in 1989 regardless of who's fronting & I'm pretty damn sure that's all Discord cares about so fuck you.

Again, this was all the mod team in the server. The game creator is like. Never there outside of the odd relevant announcement or giveaway, I have no issues with said creator. But fuck their mod team tbh.

A year later almost to the day & finally we update. Art has been... Difficult. Nova has been lovely inspiration, however, we love when she is in co-front with just about anyone else.

I have a lot of favorite characters. Last time I did all princesses this time I'm doing all book characters.

I know no one is going to vote for Mirelle but Heavenbreaker was my favorite book this year and I have been rotating her in my mind. Honestly I could've made this all Sara Wolf characters easy.

Yall im rereading Kim Harrison's The Hollows. And i forgot about Al throwing Trent at the godess. Al through a motherfucker at another mother fucker. I forgot about that and busted out laughing when i heard it again.

Protip: Why bother reclaiming it when there's a whole genre of Modern/Urban Fantasy out there to enjoy? Let Harry go and try some other series. A few recommendations:

The Wayward Children by Seanan McGuire: An amazing modern fantasy series about the kids who come back from NeverNeverLand or Wonderland or Faerieland or wherever... but desperately want to go back. Absolute favorite, very LGBTQA+ inclusive too!

The Nightside Series by Simon R. Green: A British author who writes about a shadowy alternate reality hidden inside of London. He has some cringeworthy bits here and there, but overall its a fun as hell ride with some great surreality that I wound up borrowing from for my own writing.

The Hollows by Kim Harrison: A modern fantasy series about a Witch, a Vampire, and a Pixie who open up a business together as "runners" in near-modern day Cincinnati. It also has one of my favorite antagonists in literature in the demon Algaliarept. Bonus points for me as I grew up in the Cincinnati area and I actually recognize a lot of the stuff in the books.

The October Daye by Seanan McGuire: Another series by Seanen, this one featuring a woman who is half human, half faerie living a dual life among mortal kind and the fair folk. I'm a sucker for anything fae related so I dove right into this series. As much my weakness as cold iron is their's.

The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher: A series about a wizard who acts as a private investigator in Chicago. A neat story, though the writing goes off the rails after about book ten so read further at your own risk. Great start though. (Sadly the author also went a little barmy too.)

The Secret Histories by Simon R Green: A neat series about a secret agent who also has magic powers and armor that makes them invisible by the same author who made the aforementioned Nightside series. Exciting, over the top, and campy as a cub scout Jamboree. There's a couple awkward bits though (just skip Casino Infernale.)

Thats all I got for now. Simon R. Green does a few other series that are neat but those are the big ones, and Seanan McGuire does another one too about monster hunters living in New York, but this is a good starting point for any of them.

"controversial" take but I absolutely get angry and uncomfortable every time I see something HP related. it's not the series itself it's just the fact it's literally inseparable from jkr who herself is a massive fucking transphobe/transmisognist and made herself the head of that movement. I get wanting to "reclaim it" but is it worth hurting our trans sisters over a generic wizard series.

I spend a lot of time thinking about books I've read, and my mind always goes back to Harry Potter, and The Hollows...

And I can't help but think that Snape would have made an excellent addition to The Hollows series.

1.) Harry Potter - Luna Lovegood

She’s so special and doesn’t care what others think of her - she just does her thing and is happy about it :3

2.) Supernatural - Dean Winchester

A character who trusts not easily, but when he trusts you, he gives his live to save and protect you - one thing I love about him :)

3.) Doctor Who - Amy Pond

strong-minded, intelligent, but warm-hearted and humorous at the same time. After  “the angels take Manhattan” I was so destroyed..

4.) Black Butler - Undertaker

A villain? A good guy? A little bit of a lunatic? Well - I don’t know exactly how to describe him (apart from the fact that he loves to laugh), but I loved this character ever since he appeared for the first time. He’s just so unpredictable <3

5.) Tolkien - Haldir

I loved this character so much - even though he’s sort of a secondary character, but this fact often makes it even more interesting for me to learn more about someone :)

6.) The Hollows - Algaliarept

Unfortunately I didn’t found a picture that fits 100% my idea of this character, therefore I chose the cover of a part of the Hollows Series (a book series by Kim Harrison). 

He’s a demon who is doomed to live in “the Ever-After” (sort of an other reality), who comes in contact with Rachel Morgan, a witch. Later on he teaches her demon magic and eventually has a amicable connection with her. 

7.) Naruto - Kakashi Hatake

He’s, apart from Jiraiya, my favourite character of this show - loves to read, has a difficult past - the perfect man ;D 

8.) Moonlight - Mick St. John

I started watching this show before the whole “Vampire-Hype”, in which so many Vampire/werewolf-series were created, started and I loved it. 

There are a few things I don’t like about him (for instance that he’s so determined to hate what he is - a Vampire), but just as many things I love about this character (for example his protective instincts and the attitude to do everything he can for his loved ones)

9.) Sherlock - Mrs. Hudson

Do I need to say more about why I love this character so much? *pointing to the gif below* :D

10.) Dance of the Vampires (Musical) - Count Krolock

I like many Musicals (Hamilton, Elisabeth, Cats, Lestate,etc.), but this was the very first one I listened to when I was a kid and I loved it straightaway. 

Count Krolock is a very old Vampire who lives in his Castle somewhere in Romania (I think?) who sort of falls in love with a young woman named Sarah (yeah, I know - such a cliche xD ). It’s not clear how he became a Vampire, but he wasn’t very happy about it at the beginning (he accidentally killed his first love). I think one of the facts that fascinates me is, that he knows that his way of (un)living is wrong, but at the same time he is aware that he will live forever, so he is resigned to it and eventually tries to fit in this new century somehow. 

Well, that’s it - I had a lot of fun doing this ^^

-Couple of emotes for Al as a thank you for all the ass-busting he did to get us through the majority of 2022. These are pretty old now, but still decent!

-Also a 3/4 body piece we did REALLY fast for him back in like... December I think? Mainly to replace an image on his TH profile that had painful memory associations.

-Items for Al's TH page/inventory: His trademark smoked lens glasses; a book to represent his massive fuckin' library; a crystal vial - a nod to a specific plot point in The Hollows series.

The Hollows Quiz

pinched from @msxjoo - Major Spoilers because I ramble/elaborate

1. The first character I fell in love with: Ivy. Practically from the first moment she sauntered onto the page. It was cemented with THE GIFT OF A FULL KITCHEN HFJAHGUSDHU. The remodel was obviously tailored to whatever a witch would need. I was floored.

2. The character I never expected to love as much I do now: Algaliarept aka. Al/Gally - he had so much development and growth. The poor soul lived such a long time. He did his best to keep his head above water in that shitty situation for hundreds of years. --Runner up-- Rachel herself! I started the first book on a recommendation of a friend of mine. Rachel was written very believably with flaws and all - so I didn’t full out love her immediately (just like a real person, shock). So I kept reading to see where it went. 

3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Trent - Yes he is powerful, described as very handsome, and obviously Rachel eventually ends up doing a few things to “bring her down to his level” as far as dirt. What I could never forgive was his actions during the search for the Focus. That could not be written off as “trying to protect my species”. He had other ways to go about the situation. He was lazy and did WHAT WAS COMFORTABLE. Since that was his comfort zone was very telling. 

4. The character I love that everyone else hates: I... don’t think I really have one of those? Do people actually hate Newt? That boggles the mind. I don’t really like Pierce. Do other people like Pierce? I guess that counts ja?  He flies off the handle too quickly. I know in a lot of situations it’s ACT NOW but not 24/7 bruh chill and analyze the situation. Nothing is black and white.

5. The character I used to love but don’t any longer: I liked Trent as a character before the obvious turn/shoe-horning into Rachel’s love interest. There was mystery because of his connection with Rachel. There was his power, how he played The Game. I do wish they could have brokered peace and worked together without getting ~Involved~. A lot of people answered “Nick” but I never liked the guy much from the get-go. So many red flags early on. The only good thing that came from him was granting Rachel’s tie to Al - though it was a PITA at first.

6. The character I would totally smooch: ...Oh just one?? Bah.  Gally first, Kisten, Ivy - heck if the setting was right I’d cuddle up with Newt if she was amicable. I’d give Jenks a big ol’ smooch too because that precious baby needs all of the ego stroking to stay in one piece. And Lee because he was smart enough to drop past shit and work together when there was a throw down. I respect that. While we’re talking Respectable you can add David to the list. I have a soft spot for weres. This one’s no exception.

7. The character I’d want to be like: Kisten. He had the knowledge and will to navigate a lot of shit and still keep a good head on his shoulders and heart in his chest despite everything carving and grooming him to be otherwise.

8. The character I’d slap: Nick I would do MORE than slap. The simple end he had was not good enough for my soul.  I’d slap Pierce and Ceri for their final, unnecessary stunt. I think how pointless/unneeded it was is was makes me upset about it the most.  I often wonder if Harrison truly felt that is what would happen or if it was a convenient way to tie up the loose ends of those characters being present. Honestly there’s many characters I could put here. I’m protective.

9. A pairing that I love: In my gut I knew it wouldn’t happen but I was rooting whole heartedly for Rachel/Kisten/Ivy trio. Kisten gave her his heart and helped her open her mind, to begin to really look at and process her feelings for Ivy. Obviously I really love Kisten/Rachel as well. They were so wonderful together.

10. A pairing that I despise: There’s a lot of unsavory pairings possible but my most hated?  The one I despise all else above others? With anything connected to it?  Piscary / Ivy or Kisten ; that abusive motherfucker. Unfortunately both of those are cannon.
