WIP INTRO | BITE THE HAND
Tumblr media
BITE THE HAND: A FAMILY TRAGEDY
Genre: Erotic Horror, Gothic, Dystopian Fiction, Extreme Horror
Status: Drafting
Setting: The Bunker, an underground community of the last remaining human beings. Think neoclassical architecture, a lot of plush velvet and ionic columns. On top of it is the Viewing Room, a glass dome with a lounge inside; it’s the last place in the world where people can see the sun.
Summary:
Eleanor Bohannon-Lennox, daughter of the President of the Bunker, has a problem: her Father is a politically illiterate moron. He has just made the most destabilising decision of his entire career, and now the Bunker is developing a system of politics that he won’t be able to control. Instead of seeing the collapse of society as she knows it as a disaster, Eleanor sees it as an opportunity. She’s smarter than her father, better than him, and with some political savvy, bad morals, a subtle amount of violence, and some extreme blackmail, she’ll be able to rise to the top. Maybe, she’ll finally be able to see the sun, after being denied it so long.
Her twin brother, Alexander ‘Sasha’ Bohannon-Lennox, doesn’t have a problem. He’s at the peak, used as a PR piece for his father - he’s in the lap of power, and he wants for nothing. At least, that’s what he’s pretty sure is his life. There’ve been whispers, about guns, and about executions, and about people starving; he doesn’t believe them, of course. His Father would never let things get so bad.
Still, people seem to be hungry. The rich don’t like being denied their luxuries, when they’ve gotten used to it. Starvation is a killer. Deprivation is a killer. After a long enough time, even your friends start looking like meals.
Themes: Cannibalism | Family | Fascism and Capitalism | Economic Class | Genderqueerness | Femininity as an Imposition | Consumption | Monstrousness | Abuse | Cycles of Violence |
Inspiration:
Ada, Or Ardor, Vladimir Nabokov (1959)
Flowers In the Attic, V.C Andrews (1979)
Salo, or 120 Days of Sodom, Pier Paolo Pasolini (1975)
Game of Thrones, George R.R. Martin (1996 -)
Venus in Furs, Leopold von Sacher-Masoch (1870)
Hannibal, Bryan Fuller (2013-2015)
The Menu, Mark Mylod (2022)
Raw, Julia Ducornou (2016)
Climax, Gaspar Noe (2018)
Dinner and Diatribes, Hozier (2019)
Succession, Jesse Armstrong (2018-2023)
Characters:
Eleanor Bohannon-Lennox: The Daughter and the Successor
Louis Palance: The Daughter’s Husband and burden
Alexander Bohannon-Lennox: The Son and the Plaything
Claudia Pelletier: The Cook and the Secretary
The Vice President
William Bohannon-Lennox: The President and the Father
Content Warnings: Rape, incest, cannibalism, abuse, eating disorders. This is, in part, an extreme horror novel.

A goodbye
After almost 12 (!) years, it’s time for me to say goodbye to this blog. It will not be deleted though.
Here’s a (pretty rough and I’m sure not full) list of skaters featured here. They’re listed in alphabetical order by the first name (so “Ashley Wagner” is under “A” and not “W”). I know it’s not the correct way to do this thing but it was easier for me. Also, if you can’t find someone, try searching within the blog or just general Tumblr search.
Thank you for the company and bye!

Ophelia's Investiture!
Tumblr media
Royals and nobles from across the empire gathered this morning at St. Alexander's Cathedral for the investiture of Crown Princess Ophelia. It wasn't so long ago that we remember the investiture of our Tsarina Ekaterina, as the first ever female to be crowned heir ahead of her brothers. The ceremony is an old one, and solidifies the position of the heir in the eyes of the Creator and the Imperial Church, as the One True Heir to the throne of the empire.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Top to bottom, left to right: Queen Genevieve and King Jacques Pelletier of Brindleton, King Ivan and Queen Anastasia De La Cru of Oasis Springs, Queen Mother Kona and Chief Lilah Mahoe of the Sulani Independent Islands, Queen Claire and King Caleb Norton of Willow Creek, Prince Ygor Ivanov, The Honourable Miss Yue Dias, Encarna Dias and Princess Maria Dias, Duchesses of Hartwards, Prince Yuri Ivanov.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Top to bottom, left to right: Queen Adriana, Prince Alfonso, Crown Prince Cesare and Princess Misha Colona of Newcrest, Princess Lucrezia, Princess Emilia, Princess Adriana and Princess Francesca Colona, Prince Nickolai and Baylee Ivanov, Duke and Duchess of Arnsey, Princess Yelena and Jacob Riordan, Duke and Duchess of Grandwood, Malcolm and Corinne Milner, Marquess and Marchioness Torendi, and Simon and Viola Milner, Earl and Countess Alto.
Tumblr media
The ceremony began with the members of the Imperial Family standing on the dias, Tsarina Ekaterina wearing the crown of the monarch, and Prince Matthew and The Dowager Tsarina Nadia wearing the crowns off the monarch's consort.
Tumblr media
Then, Crown Princess Ophelia entered, wearing not only the traditional tiara of the Heir Apparent, but also, the exact same gown her mother wore all those years ago at her own investiture.
Tumblr media
The Crown Princess sheds the robe and kneels before her mother, reciting the pledge to devote herself, life and limb, to the crown and the empire, until the end of her days.
Tumblr media
From there, she ascends the dias where the Tsarina exchanges the tiara of the heir apparent for the Crown of the Imperial Heir, overseen by the Archbishop of the Imperial Church.
Tumblr media
The Family takes their seats on the thrones as the Archbishop declares-

NEVER DIE. NEVER WIN. ETERNALS.
What’s the point of an eternal battle?
For millions of years, one hundred Eternals have roamed the Earth, secret protectors of humanity. Without them, we’d be smears between the teeth of the demon-like Deviants. Their war has waged for all time, echoing in our myths and nightmares.
But today, Eternals face something new: change. Can they – or anyone on Earth – survive their discovery?
From the thought provoking minds of Kieron Gillen (The Wicked + The Divine, Uncanny X-Men, Thor) and Esad Ribić (Secret Wars, King Thor) comes a new vision of the classic Marvel mythology!

As names of the victims of jihad who died on September 11, 2001 were read out on Wednesday morning in New York, it occurred to me that a crucial aspect of remembering the tragedy was missing.
There was no mention of the evil that struck us that day and has continued to hit us wherever liberal secular democracy exists, be it on 7/7 in London or 26/11 in Mumbai, or for that matter Kabul, Bali, Madrid, Paris, Damascus, and right here in Ottawa and Toronto.
If aliens were to drop by to watch the ceremony, they would get the impression that we were not commemorating the anniversary of an attack, but some catastrophic natural disaster such as the 1883 eruption of the Krakatoa volcano in Indonesia or the 1775 Lisbon earthquake.
It seems that from the centre-right to the centre-left, no one in the West dares to utter the ideology that nurtures our enemies, let alone develop a determination to defeat them.
Some have tried to eradicate the malaria of jihadi terrorism by shooting down individual mosquitoes, but as anyone who has fought that disease knows, one can only defeat malaria by draining the swamps. Invasions of Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan to eliminate Al Qaeda, the Taliban and the Islamic State have all failed because the "war against terror" became a profitable venture for America's military-industrial complex.
Pakistan, the country that nurtured the mastermind of 9/11, Khaled Sheikh Muhammad, and hosted Al-Qaeda head Osama bin Laden, escaped all scrutiny as its wily diplomats ran circles of deceit around Western governments while corrupt jihadi generals profited immensely and still do. In the meantime, our allies in India and Afghanistan suffer as they are used as laboratories where dozens of jihadi groups practice holy war, which is then exported from Mindanao in The Philippines, to California on the Pacific and Nigeria and Somalia in between.
Canadian newspapers too had little to say on the 9/11 anniversary, notwithstanding our own recent skirmishes with jihadis. At times we have even rewarded them, then allowed 'former' jihadis to 'deradicalize' them. Both must be laughing at us.
I scoured the New York Times story on the 9/11 anniversary for words like 'Al Qaeda', 'Bin Laden', 'jihad', 'Taliban', 'Khaled Sheikh Muhammad' and even 'Arab' or 'Saudi,' but found no mention. It seemed the liberal media dares not to mention the enemy for fear it may be labelled 'racist' and 'Islamophobic'.
While the West is in disarray with Trump, Boris Johnson and Macron fulfilling the role of the Three Stooges on the world stage, Islamists keep up a barrage of propaganda positioning the Muslim community as victims of what they see as essentially hostile Western society.
Even as Canadians prepare to vote in the 2019 October elections, not a single political party has raised the issue of how it will tackle the rise of Islamist terrorism worldwide. Not one. There was a time when a prime minister had the courage to name 'Islamism' as a worldwide threat, but not his successor in Sussex Drive nor the man who leads his party.
And while they were reading the names in New York of the women and men who perished as victims of jihad on 9/11, no one in Canada cared for our Canadian brothers and sisters who died that day. As a courtesy to the voiceless, here are the names of the forgotten 27:
Michael Arczynski Garnet Bailey Ken Basnicki David Barkway Jane Beatty Cynthia Connolly Joseph Collison Frank Joseph Doyle Arron Dack Albert Elmarry Michael Egan Christine Egan Meredith Ewart Alexander Filipov Peter Feidelberg Ralph Gerhardt LeRoy Homer Mark Ludvigsen Stuart Lee Bernard Mascarenhas Colin McArthur Michael Pelletier Donald Robson Ruffino Santos Vladimir Tomasevic Chantal Vincelli Debbie Williams
Their blood is on the hands of those who engineered 9/11. Until they are defeated, we should not rest.

100 years ago today...
Why I collect and post World War I aviation pictures? At the eleventh hour, eleventh day of the eleventh month the cannon fell silent and thus ended four years of unspeakable slaughter, destruction and grief. Yet wars continued across Russia and parts of Europe and the Middle East. And the consequences of that war led to more wars in the same old places even now, a century later. What started as an aesthetic appreciation of the beauty of WWI airplanes, or as a practical reference for modelists because color brings the subject alive overcoming the limitations of black and white photography, also serves another purpose, to keep the past alive and the memory of the brave airmen of all nations who are inmportalized in these portraits of the airplanes they flew, be them the famous ace in a colorful fighter or the anonymous two-seater crew in a non-descript macine. I will quote from my two favourite books on the subject of the First World Aviation, the quotes are focused on fighter aviation and the aces, but serve as epitaph for all the airmen, as a powerful evocation of the spirit of the times The first, a former airman, wrote at the end of his life, in 1956 Rene Chambe, Au temps of carabines The Fighter Aviation, the beautiful Fighter Aviation of other times, is dead, as dead as the sail warships. We will not see again either one or the other. A combat of airplanes like those of 1915 is as relegated to the past as the naval combats of Jean-Bart or Surcouf. Both already belong to a vanished world, to another planet. In those times you could look at the adversary's face and exhibit individual courage. A Jean-Bart, a Surcouf, boarded the enemy ships, fought hand to hand, with saber strokes and pointblank shots, among cries and howls. Today, his descendants sink his adversary in a second, without seeing each other, without saying a word, only exchanging, at a distance of thirty miles, projectiles weighing a ton. A Gilbert, a Navarre, a Pelletier-Doisy shot down their first enemy planes in the course of a veritable aerial melee, shooting at a few meters range. If it had not been for the noise of the engine, they could have address each other historical exchanges of courtesies, such as in Fontenoy, or strings of insults, as in Antiquity. These memories are blurred with each passing day. Soon the time will finally carry them away. Some are already like that shining dust of the wings of the butterflies, is just enough to touch them so that they are volatilized ... Nevertheless, it is necessary to conserve them. Fragile as they are, they belong to the glorious heritage of our Aviation. A few more years and they will disappear. ... The last participants of those combats are disappearing one after the other. Soon there will be no trace of them except in the dusty archives of the Ministries and Historical Services, which nobody will bother to consult. And everything will be over. The ashes of oblivion will cover our glorious cockades. A British historian and veteran of the Second World War, wrote a wonderful book, wich was reviewed as "at times poignant, at others savagely ironic", in wich he dismissed, wrongly in my opinion, air combat as inconsequential, though to be fair his book not only spoke about the aces, but also gave its due to bombing and reconaissance, interestingly he also used the butterfly metaphor. Alexander McKee The Friendless Sky
For this reason, the type of air combat of the First World War has become something apart, a strange interlude introduced in History with the wonderful tones of a butterfly dissected and pinned on the mud of Flanders, so as to stand out even more on the background of that sordid and immense anonymous slaughter ... Young men of eighteen years became heroes overnight, rising through the sky like fleeting comets that left behind only a name and a legend when, too often, unfortunately they fell back to earth. So, why remember? why bother studying WWI aviation beyond idle curiosity? why single out airmen over the millions that died in the trenches? The Great War was an absolute tragedy and the suicide of the European civilization, it achieved nothing other than planting the seeds for another even more devastating and cruel world war, and scores of other conflicts that still rage today. Why the airmen should not be covered by the "ashes of oblivion"? Because they deserve it. They might not have suffered as much as those enduring the agony of the trenches, but the sacrifice of airmen in terms of wounded and killed, of all nations, is comparable to the infantry casualty rates. The difference, is that no matter what country and cause they fought for, the aviators of all nations where on the whole volunteers. They stepped forward and went above and beyond the call of duty. So all of them, from the most glorious aces to the anonymous two-seater observer that fell under their guns deserve our respect. Loathe the war, revere the memory of those that served. So beyond idle curiosity and the enjoyment of pretty paintings, I wish that this collection of aviation art over all these years serves as a homage to those men of all nations to took to the skies, and too often fell back to earth. __________________ "Who art thou that judgest another man's servant"?
