If skipping your meds for a day or two doesn't give you horrible side effects or withdrawal, you can skip them and THEN take psychedelics, so that the antidepressants don't interfere
That's what I do, I skip my SNRI(thought it is short-lived) and my antipsychotics the day of and everything is Gucci
last month i tried skipping my mirtazapine for THREE days before doing LSD and even then it only did like. more than nothing but less than three hits of weed. it was so fucking tragic 😩
if i knew exactly how long i'd have to be off it i might try again, but i don't wanna like, go five days without meds, arrange my whole weekend to make time, etc, and have it still not work... it's hard to eat off of my meds so that's a lot of effort for something that still might not work. like you'd think five days would be enough but i also thought three days would be enough!
#and i know it wasn't the acid's fault bc we tested it And it worked perfectly well for my wives#smfh#it's kinda funny tho bc like#i also can't do shrooms without anti-nausea meds bc otherwise i'll throw up within literally a minute of taking even the tiniest amount#my body is REALLY good at protecting me from poison#drugs#drugs mention#kids don't try drugs unless you're 100% sure what it is and what it does#and you're in a safe environment around safe people with sober help available#personally i only do drugs if they're safer / less addictive than alcohol#and only to have more fun when i'm already having fun. NOT to feel better when i'm sad or anxious#it's good to have some concrete rules for yourself#okay that's my PSA have a good day everyone

#mind im not *not* an alcoholic now but i no longer feel the need to almost kill myself with it every single night#progress!#and barring my need for alcohol and the fact that i Have to have a nicotine fix on weekdays#my drug use is moreso to feel good now than to survive. which is very nice and freeing.#i do still wish i had fucking oxy though. i am very upset about the lack of that in my life#but idk anyone who could sell me shit that i . trust. bc my only option is one of my roommates#who. like. drug tested positive for opiates and meth after having not done either of those. in a while#so i dont know that iwant to buy anything he has really#personal

So after almost 9 years of being a non-drinker (you could say sober because I had my whole John Mulaney ‘I used to drink but then I drank too much and had to stop’ moment but people get weird about it) I feel like I’m mentally stable and capable enough to handle alcohol in a non fucked up/horrible way. Three main problems so far:
1. People who have never had to stop drinking for any reason. Some are chill and With It and others do not get the gravitas of what I’m doing and what it means. so I’m like haha yeah just trying to get back into it after yknow almost a decade. and bitches want to buy me multiple shots because they think it’s like I’ve emerged from hibernation and can now have fun with no hangups
2. People who are sober reading me the riot act. You want to drink again now? Do you need help? Here’s my number just in case. You know, this woman I was in AA with thought she could handle it and two months later she was driving drunk with her kids in the backseat. Also the feeling of ‘you’ve let me/us/yourself down’ is omnipresent.
3. ALCOHOL TASTES REAL BAD. I got some hard cider (6.3%) at the farmers market literally just for the glass bottle so I could repurpose it for coldbrew, poured some over ice in my gay little French glass, spat it into the sink. Gross! Bad! Gross and bad! Tastes like fucking vinegar!! Why do I even bother with this shit? Time for coldbrew.
Bonus: it is is so expensive to drink holy fuck. In this economy? Pass
#alcohol#shout out to my friend Carl for testing the limits of Wellbutrin’s effectiveness when taking every drug known to man/horse#Egg talks

never been happier to not be Gen Z than seeing some girl who looked like 19 on the train platform today stressing out about not being able to find her vape
#I know I'm Old but I don't understand ~vape culture~#sitting in a car with a manager at the new job and he was smoking a vape and playing his music off SoundCloud...#and one college kid said to the other ''you look like the kind of guy who always has a Juul on you'' and he was so hurt...#and my *FIRST* day the shift lead asked me what strain of weed was my favorite to vape#and I know out here weed is like alcohol and maybe I'm like 1800s repressed after getting clean but felt like maybe. just maybe.#we shouldn't be asking our employees about substance use within hours of meeting outside of a drug test (which... I have opinions anyway)#but it's an 80s themed place so I was like ''what did you just say to me?'' and someone reminded her that we're in 1986

The Importance of Drug and Alcohol Testing in Hiring: Safeguarding Workplace Success
The hiring process is vital for companies to ensure they bring in employees who will contribute positively to their business. Drug and alcohol tests have become essential, helping employers maintain a safe, productive, and responsible work environment. By screening candidates for substance abuse, companies can reduce workplace accidents, improve employee performance, and foster a culture of reliability and trust.
The Importance of Drug and Alcohol Tests in hiring cannot be overstated. They play a key role in building a safer, more reliable, and high-performing workforce. Employers across various industries recognize that such tests help prevent potential workplace hazards, improve team morale, and promote a positive organizational culture.
Promoting Workplace Safety
One of the primary reasons companies conduct pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is to ensure a safe work environment. Employees under the influence of drugs or alcohol can pose a severe risk, especially in industries where heavy machinery, driving, or detailed technical work is involved. Testing candidates for substance abuse can reduce the chances of accidents, making the workplace safer for everyone.
Enhancing Productivity
Substance abuse is often linked to absenteeism, poor performance, and low productivity. When companies hire individuals who are sober and free from substance dependencies, they ensure that these employees are more likely to remain focused and effective on the job. This level of productivity benefits not only the business’s bottom line but also the morale of co-workers who rely on consistency and reliability from team members.
Reducing Employer Liability
Employers have a legal obligation to provide a safe work environment, and hiring individuals with substance abuse issues could lead to workplace incidents, increasing the company’s liability. Drug and alcohol testing helps minimize these risks by filtering out potential hires who may have substance abuse issues, thereby reducing the chances of workplace accidents and the associated legal repercussions.
Maintaining Company Reputation
Employing individuals with a history of substance abuse can sometimes lead to behaviors that could tarnish a company’s reputation. Whether it's customer-facing interactions or incidents that could become public, hiring individuals who are free from drug or alcohol dependencies helps maintain a positive company image, which is crucial for customer trust and long-term business growth.
Improving Employee Retention
Hiring the right employees from the start can improve retention rates, as individuals without drug or alcohol dependencies are often more reliable and committed to their roles. This approach builds a stable workforce and reduces turnover costs, as hiring and training new employees can be expensive and time-consuming.
Conclusion
Drug and alcohol tests are crucial to the hiring process, as they help ensure safety, productivity, and a positive work environment. By implementing a comprehensive testing policy, businesses can protect themselves from potential risks, improve workplace morale, and enhance employee satisfaction. Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is more than just a box to check; it’s an investment in a productive and sustainable workplace. For reliable and efficient testing services, National Diagnostics Lab provides comprehensive solutions to meet your company’s screening needs, supporting a safe and healthy workforce.
FAQ's

Which Substances Are Typically Tested?
Most tests screen for common substances such as marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, and alcohol. Each company may have its list based on the nature of its work and workplace policies.

5 Steps to Develop a Clear Drug Testing Program for Workplaces
Creating a safe, productive workplace is essential, especially as drug and alcohol misuse costs Australian society $172 billion annually. These issues lead to unsafe work conditions, reduced productivity, accidents, theft, staff turnover, and increased WorkCover premiums. To address these challenges, employers must develop an effective drug testing program to ensure the well-being of employees. Here’s a guide on five essential steps to establish a successful drug testing program in Australian workplaces.
1. Understand Legal Obligations and Responsibilities
Employers must comply with Australia’s Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act), which mandates that workplaces maintain safe environments. This includes implementing measures to prevent drug and alcohol-related incidents.
Key legal considerations include:
Duty of Care: Employers must take reasonable steps to protect workers from drug and alcohol risks.
Privacy Laws: Policies should protect employees' privacy, particularly regarding test results.
Discrimination: Drug testing must be applied uniformly to prevent discrimination.
Understanding these legal responsibilities ensures that the program is both effective and compliant with Australian laws.
2. Conduct a Workplace Assessment
Every workplace is unique, requiring a customized approach to drug testing. A workplace assessment helps identify specific risks and tailor the program to meet those needs.
Key steps for assessment:
Identify High-Risk Areas: Pinpoint roles and locations prone to drug or alcohol risks.
Consult Stakeholders: Engage employees, supervisors, and unions to gather feedback and foster cooperation.
Review Incident Records: Analyze past incidents to assess the impact of substance abuse in the workplace.
This data-driven approach ensures that the drug testing program addresses your organisation’s particular challenges.
3. Develop a Comprehensive Program
A well-structured program outlines its objectives, scope, procedures, and consequences.
Key elements to include:
Objective: Define the program’s purpose, focusing on safety and employee health.
Scope: Specify who will participate, including employees, contractors, and visitors.
Testing Types: Use appropriate test kits, such as urine, saliva, or alcohol breath tests.
Procedures: Outline when and how tests will be conducted.
Confidentiality: Ensure that all results remain private.
Consequences: Establish clear penalties for violations and offer support for employees struggling with substance use.
A clear program promotes consistency and fairness across the organisation.
4. Provide Training and Education
Training ensures that employees understand the program’s purpose and their roles in maintaining a drug-free workplace.
Training components:
Program Awareness: Educate employees on policies and their responsibilities.
Supervisor Training: Teach managers to recognize substance abuse and follow testing protocols.
Support Programs: Inform employees about available support for substance issues, fostering a compassionate approach.
LaneWorkSafe offers e-learning modules and on-site training to help businesses effectively communicate their drug testing policies.
5. Implement and Continuously Improve
Effective implementation involves monitoring and refining the program over time.
Steps for successful implementation:
Pilot Testing: Begin with a trial phase to gather feedback and make adjustments.
Regular Monitoring: Track the program’s effectiveness through audits and employee feedback.
Program Review: Periodically update the program to reflect new laws and workplace dynamics.
LaneWorkSafe supports workplaces through expert consulting, on-site testing services, and a wide range of testing kits, including urine, saliva, and alcohol testing kits.
Conclusion
Developing a clear drug testing program is essential for ensuring a safe and productive work environment. Employers can achieve this by:
Understanding legal obligations.
Conducting thorough workplace assessments.
Developing a comprehensive program.
Providing adequate training and education.
Implementing the program with continuous monitoring and improvement.

These topics were elaborately discussed in SAPAA 2024 and expert’s opinions were exchanged and ASC also had given demonstrations in their booth in the conference.
One of the biggest concerns of ASC is How to get the Certification for Drug and Alcohol Program Professionals and also why it is necessary and who is eligible for the certification. ASC concentrates on the industry challenges like existing legal issues in drug testing. There are many rules and laws governing drug testing like FCRA and Adverse effect law which states that the employees consent should be got before drug testing and also in case of positive result the employee should be informed about the report and why he is denied the job. Also focus was given to Creating Effective Policy for Employee Wellness Programs which should be made known to all the employees before hiring. Another problem is the quality and method of different types of sample collection for drug testing which checks the purity of the sample and if the specimen is adulterated or diluted. The most common challenge faced by the industry is the safety of the concern due to the increasing number of drug addicted people. This is due to the fact that accidents might happen and damage human life and property of the company.
American Screening Corp’s Vision for the Future
American Screening Corporation and Ron Kilgarlin works towards finding innovative solution for drug testing and incorporating modern technology and recent trends in medical diagnosis and treatment. This is effectively brought about by continuous interaction with experts and professionals to modify the current practice. Discussing about the existing difficulties and challenges in drug testing and getting suggestions on improving the testing help in future development and solutions. Also ASC believes in giving importance to the feedback and opinions of the customers and updating the design and technology of the drug testing kits and medical accessories.
Artificial Intelligence Technology offers a great solution for reducing the problems in drug testing and rehabilitation. Depending on this technology one is assured that the safety and security of the concern and work place is well taken care of. Also employee wellness program can be initiated and implemented using Artificial Intelligence where Chatbots take up the responsibility of detecting those who are under drug addiction, planning the strategy for rehabilitating them, working out the treatment plan, monitoring the medical appointments and round the clock supervision of the patients.
Conclusion
American Screening Corporation is consistently focussing on updating the design and efficiency of drug testing kits and specimen cups.
