I think people who talk about F1 Academy being a regressive way of segregating racing based on gender are really missing the point of it all. One of the biggest roadblocks for young drivers trying to find sponsors and public support is purely name recognition. If nobody knows who you are, how will you make it up that ladder? Prema, for example, is excellent at advertising its drivers via social media, which gives them a fanbase and drives up "demand" for them. It's thus more profitable for sponsors and teams to pick up those drivers. F1 Academy is doing the exact same thing but specifically for female drivers. Because of F1 Academy, these women are more well-known than the majority of F3 drivers despite competing at what is technically a lower level. And that makes them more appealing to teams so that they can move up in categories! F1 Academy is all about visibility for these young women, and almost anything else is extra.

mishanks mafia au where shanks is the don of the gol family and and mihawk is a hitman hired by the government (it's a conspiracy!) to kill shanks.
when mihawk shows up, shanks puts up a great fight, and even tho shanks loses (he's on the ground with hawk's blade at his throat!), mihawk decides shanks is way funner than the government and doesn't kill him after all. mihawk intends for this to be the end, with exception for perhaps more fights in the future, but shanks has already fallen on love and starts trying his damndest to get mihawk to work for the gols.
mihawk always refuses, but when the government puts out a hit on mihawk because he broke contract, mihawk finds himself thoroughly protected by the gol family anyways. shanks, however, doesn't save mihawk fast enough to spare the hitman some torture so, in retaliation, shanks brings down the entire government and exposes the conspiracy while he's at it, with the finale being a grand announcement that mihawk is his, actually, back the fuck off and don't try this again.
by the end, mihawk still doesn't work for the gols, but if he marries into the family, well. "there's still a difference, red." (shanks whines about this daily.)
#mishanks#akataka#rei rambles#the competing families are the other emperors btw#and shanks is grooming luff to take over the gol family territory but luffy has designs to take the whole city like gol d roger once did#zoro is one of luffy's friends that hangs around the family compound. he sees mihawk enter the premisis during the initial hit#and goes to kill mihawk before mihawk gets to shanks's rooms but mihawk takes him out quickly and efficiently.#zoro kind of imprints on him from there and decides he wants to beat mihawk one day.#he decides one day after shanks clearly survives the hit that he'd be okay asking mihawk for mentorship and this becomes another#aspect of shanks's bargain to get mihawk to work for the gols lol.#i also think it'd be funny if the next time zoro sees mihawk after getting his ass beat that first time#it's to see hawk getting unceremoniusly dragged out of a car trunk bound and gagged and looking supremely annoyed#and shanks bounds out of the compound happily to ask mihawk to work for him and mihawk kills the driver and his two goons without a word#and instead of being mad shanks laughs and he's like 'dont worry hawky i just hired krieg and his guys go drive you bc i know theyre dirty!#i was gonna have them killed anyways ☺️ look at u practically working for us anyways! 🥰🥰'#and mihawk straight up punches shanks in the face for this lol he's so annoyed. he's still got duct tape over his mouth.#shanks has hearts in his eyes. zoro didn't even see mihawk move and those guys were already dead! he DEFINITELY needs this guy's mentorship.#i digress

red bull: daniel’s bad habits from mclaren are fixed, he did well in the sim, and his tire test was so good that we immediately knew he was ready to be in a car.
alpha tauri & yuki: daniel’s feedback on the car has been instrumental, and he performed so well in difficult race conditions even though he didn’t have any upgrades and had some bad luck.
rando twitter user who doesn’t have the data, didn’t know liam lawson’s name three weeks ago, and constantly insults the way red bull quickly drops drivers who don’t perform: they’re only letting him drive for pr even though he’s a washed up failure.

Like…if you’re so secure in your decision why do you need to keep explaining it? If you’re so sure this was the right thing to do…what does it matter what anyone thinks? If you’re confident this is going to work couldn’t you just let the results speak for themselves? Could it maybe be that you’re not so sure this is going to work hmmm? And maybe you need to get ahead of it and make sure people think this was the best of bad options?

Here, i just want to share this scripts from those episodes WE'RE robbed.
Like, shut up Draxum, who are You to Say what a witch can ride.
I love the subtle hilarity of Donnie giving Leo a driving test. Which has absolutely no point to it, but Donnie agreed to do it and actually seems to be taking it seriously. (this entire premise seems to hearken back to Leo driving the Shellraiser in 2012 because "he's the only one who can be trusted not to run into things for fun," when Rise Leo is the exact person who would do that)
And it totally tracks that Leo's an inexplicably a great parallel parker. Though I do object because Leo is obviously gay, and it's a well-known fact that gays cannot drive.
This is also a good example of the writers subtly informing the audience of the passage of time. Donnie and Leo were canonically fourteen at the beginning of Rise, and by explicitly stating Leo is old enough for a license it tells the audience that Leo and Donnie turned sixteen off-screen.
Which is kind of bullshit from Mikey's perspective. Donnie built the tank pretty early on in the show, when he was likely still fourteen, Raph was fifteen at the start of the show, and they're both seen operating the tank right away. Mikey's literally older than Donnie was when he started driving. I get why he's mad!

Laila I hard agree with your tags RE: Italiano leaving. I’ve seen people joke that Danny must have fucked his girlfriend or something but I don’t think it’s anything personal (in that way)
If I had to guess I’d say it was something big, maybe business/money related. I kind of hoped Daniel just realized what a shit trainer Michael was (I can rant on his bs practices all day, but he pushes some unsustainable and sometimes outright dangerous ideas like extensive fasting, etc. etc. which have always rubbed me the wrong way). BUT I think in reality Daniel hasn’t really acknowledged/processed how NOT OKAY that whole McLaren stint was for him. He still talks to Zak, all the McLaren mechanics, friendly with Lando and Oscar, so if it was just “Michael let him down and wasn’t putting his best interests first in McLaren” I think Danny would have just let it go.
One thing he’s not stupid about though, is his money/business (and also, what a lot of people don’t acknowledge, his privacy). We don’t really hear a lot about Danny post-season. So I feel maybe the fall out had to do with Italiano going on podcast after podcast talking about Daniel and then also (presumably) raking in money for it. Again, all allegedly completely-just-going-from-my-own-vibes, Michael Italiano do not sue me
I do think there was a catalyst that led to their break-up sometime after the last race last year, because if I remember correctly, Jack (Doohan) had mentioned that Michael would be training him for F2 while still working with Daniel during his year off. But then, this never happened and MI ended up going to AT. All I'm saying is, whether something happened or someone sat Daniel down and talked to him about it, Daniel on his own would never have realised how harmful whatever MI preached was. And i think whatever it was, really hit Daniel hard because every time he's talked about coming back this year, whether it's the lone wolf comment or other things, he's constantly talked about how he's approaching training differently and how he's realised prioritising his recovery and rest is important.
Regarding your comment about whether Michael wasn't putting Daniel's interests first at Mclaren, I think a lot of people got the same impression, especially if you go by his comments on his Pitstop appearance this year. The way he framed it kind of implied that he was annoyed at Daniel's decision to take a year off and there was the implication that this derailed his own career and aspirations, which fair enough.
But coming to whether it could have been money/business-related, I feel like this is more like it. You do get the impression he was more in it for the money and the fame. Forget the part about dming girls and the cheating allegations, but the side-hustle part of it?? With the F1 season getting more and more hectic and trainers like Brad and Angela leaving because they can't keep up with the strain and time demand of the new calendar, how can you have the time to dedicate to other private clients? To me, it just means you're not really giving your 100% to the driver you are meant to support. Then, there was the mask debacle thing in 2020, his whole 'merch' collection and the way he continued to make money off his posts of Yuki this year.
And then the privacy thing - I know just because Daniel looks like such an open guy that people don't realise how private he is. Even during the whole mclaren debacle, not one person from his side ran their mouth in the press when you constantly have the family or friends of other drivers making snide comments or liking posts they shouldn't. And then, there's mr. Italiano making appearances in dodgy podcasts and obviously whatever he says, people are bound to take it as him meaning it about daniel because that's who they associate him with. And then the whole leaking of his private medical info, coming after the one and sole sighted interaction of theirs must have come as such a betrayal to Daniel

*thinks about my blorbos so hard I explode* I'm unable to recover from the snitch brothers post with adam michael and diego so I have a new saw au idea
It's one of those coming of age teen high school movies except the three of them are the main characters and the Big Plot is that they're all desperately trying to avoid people that are trying to hire them to spy on people but they're accidentally roping themselves into something so ridiculously complicated that everyone involved has no idea what's what. The Big Idea? People are trying to prove john kramer (who is lawrence and Mark and amanda and logan's adoptive dad) is a serial killer
Tapp giving Adam money to go spy on Lawrence? Uh oh, he hates that guy and won't go anywhere near him!!(He's secretly dating Lawrence)
Matthews trying to get Michael to go spy on this group of kids? Sorry, man, he's got a date!! (He doesn't)
Cecelia trying to rope Diego into her schemes? Can't, he's taking his driver's test!! (Couldn't drive if his life depended on it)
So then it becomes a plot to 1) Hide Adam and Larry's secret relationship from Tapp 2) Somehow get Michael a date 3) Get Diego his driver's license!!!!
B plot 1) Adam goes through so many convoluted plots to get Tapp off Larry's back, including locking himself and his bf in a bathroom, pretending to poison himself with a cigarette, making up a story about Lawrence's secret girlfriend (Zepp, somehow, gets involved)
B plot 2) Michael goes through a list of every person he knows in the school to try and find one person that a) Doesn't know Eric b) will not accidentally date him for real, and eventually settles on unnamed janitor (someone had the galaxy brained take to name him Issac so that's what I'm going with) so Michael asks him out and, spoiler alert, they end up genuinely liking each other
B plot 3) A series of Diego diligently studying every textbook on driving that exists, but no textbook can save him from the real hurdle: anxiety behind the wheel. He just can't do it. Climax of this B plot comes when the three get into some hijinks that require them to quickly speed off in a car, and Diego... Does it. Flawlessly. (Ends up passing out at the realization that he drove a moving vehicle)
A plot gets resolved when John rigs a Billy puppet to tricycle in detailed plans for all the scary things he makes (it's literally just a silly exercise in what he can make. Also all the traps do in fact work but the way they do irl) idk I'm eepy
Anyways Lionsgate give me 3 billion dollars to make this movie
