Swordmaster-focused doodles

While drawing these, it kinda dawned on me how funny the Spearmaster's/older Piripu's hair situation is. He starts off having shorter hair than Mufo, but the time you'd call him the Spearmaster his hair is the same length as her's but with quadruple the volume. He has the opposite of a hair loss problem. He's gonna go chinchilla-core with the dust baths he'd be taking to prevent mold from growing in his hair.

there's a sense of foreignness, a haunting awareness of the immigrant and third culture experience, that's everywhere in mitski's music. it's the awareness that moving changes you; that where you are is who you are. it's in 'brand new city', with its dream of becoming a new person by moving to a new place. it's in 'texas reznikoff', the love song of someone who's never found even just one continent to settle down on: "but i've been anywhere, and it's not what i want, i want to be still with you". it's in 'your best american girl' - obviously. it's in the story behind 'nobody', going back to malaysia where she'd lived as a child and finding that she might as well be an alien - perhaps from the "planet of love" - and certainly had no home where she was. it's in dying on a plane in 'last words of a shooting star', a soul passing by with no grave on earth to return to. it's in the sound of a train pulling away in 'happy', echoed again in 'buffalo replaced': love always leaves by literally going somewhere else. it's in "the city where you're from" in 'blue diner' because every old friend and lover has their (physical) place in her life. it's in the americana, the liberty bell, cowboys, laurel hell, buffalo - and the lines in japanese in 'first love / late spring'. it's in the love that has "traveled very far" in 'star'. it's being the "king of all the land" while belonging to no part of it in 'i love me after you'. and this is ultimately how i interpret 'the land is inhospitable and so are we': it's an autobiogeography. the land may have no place for us, but it defines us anyway. after all, where you are is who you are.

god that "Life of the Spider" snippet is SO raw

I couldn't perfectly make out the lyrics (and don't want to listen too many times before the album comes out) but it sounded something like "how do I think I even have the right to exist when I look this hideous"

and it just absolutely breaks my fucking heart. Halsey talked a bit in the SheMD podcast about how losing so much weight and the way her face changed made her feel so ugly.

and I know we all know that beauty isn't everything, and that Halsey has SO much more to offer the world than just their looks

but the same time: do people whisper 'bout you on the train like me, saying that you shouldn't waste your pretty face like me? now I'm looking pretty in a hotel bar. face so made up, living on a screen. all alone out in Saint Tropez, lookin' as fine as a damn Monet. I spent years becoming cool and in a single second you can make a decade of my efforts disappear.

Halsey isn't dumb. She knows she's beautiful. She knows that while she is a very talented songwriter and artist, this is a brutal and shallow industry, and that her looks gave her access at a time when the world may not have otherwise valued what she had to say.

but what happens when Ashley can't be Halsey? what happens when Ashley is too sick to be that larger-than-life figure on stage and on screen? when they don't look like themselves anymore, let alone like a shimmering ethereal pop queen?

at some point, the conclusion Ashley came to was "I don't deserve to exist."

Any thoughts on the latest dm rumor about HS4 being a proper break up album. I know, massive grain of salt and we've had plenty of album rumors thus far that haven't eventuated but if this one's true will it make you think a certain way?

…..anon we were supposed to get this album at the end of March, end of April, end of May, end of June, end of July and now probably some time in Q4.

We don’t even know if Harry has a record deal currently, considering his first record deal with Columbia was Very Publicly 3 albums - he’s now released 3 albums - and we haven’t gotten any reports of him signing any new deals with Columbia (or anyone) since.
