what's with al haitham asking about the wedjat eye at the end there, huh? there was no need for that info to be highlighted to the player; we already know it'll be under the temple of silence's custody. the flavor texts after that seems to be not that relevant......... *glances at the gem on him* ..... has our wild deshret!haitham theories been true all along.... is that also a wedjat eye. or at least part of it. is that why he retains his memories as deshret. or perhaps the memories are imperfect and he has his suspicion about it being a wedjat eye already so that's why he was interested- /is bonked and dragged away

Sooo about the yan! alhaitham having a librarian girlfriend..... I wanna hear your thoughts....
Of The Silence Betwixt Words
ᯓᡣ𐭩 Yandere!Alhaitham x Reader
Cw(s) : Yandere Themes, Intrusive Thoughts, Alhaitham being Alhaitham
「 Words : 1.4k 」 「 Inspired By This Post 」
The relationship between a librarian and a reader is simple, silent and sufficiently detached ; as such, it does not require an extensive amount of cognition to treat it as anything but that.
At least, that's how it is in the beginning — it always is like this in the beginning. The burgeon of something from seemingly nothing, catapulted to such a monumental deal that one is left questioning : when did it begin? What or who sneaked in the seed and how did it nurture itself to bloom into such an unsightly, fascinating thing?
At one stage, fixation tricks the mind into stuffing that void of inquiries with what it parades as the truth — it has always been there, you simply did not notice.
It is natural for Alhaitham to respect the place that houses such a valuable item, he extends it to the person behind the desk as well. Communication is always easy with them, restricted to a few phrases and maintained due-dates to return borrowed tomes. His own house has an impressive collection as well, but the ambiance of a library is just too intricate to replicate within the four walls of his abode.
In Sumeru, physical books are unfairly ignored, one of the many ironies connoted to its claim to ‘wisdom’. The Scribe has never understood nor agreed to the other scholars' faster and apparently more efficient means of requesting the Akasha to answer their dilemmas.
The Akasha is a useful tool in many instances, that, he won't deny. But there is nothing in that machine that begets more machines that can equate to the intellectual stimulation a physical book, the extra minutes consumed by the search of that book and the librarian that never seems to let him win can provide.
The expanse of the House of Daena directly connects to the load of responsibilities its assigned keeper has to shoulder. Making sure students return the books on time, keeping an eye out for anyone who may want to get silly while annotating the tomes and the periodical shushing of rowdy study groups.
There's the occasional scholar too airy with pride to bend that seeks to challenge your knowledge as well. Unfortunately for them and fortunately for the House of Daena's reputation, you're just the correct person to put them in their places.
It's difficult to decide which one the Scribe wants to commend first : your seemingly monstrous memory or the way you can cite it all without stuttering. Alhaitham was pleased with the fact that most people thought twice before interacting with him, but the way you challenged him and emerged victorious revealed to be quite a hassle on his mind.
“Incorrect. Truly ancient petrified trees usually grow to around one or two miles in height. Check page 19, paragraph 3 of the ninth edition of ‘A Comprehensive Guide to Dragonspine Ruins’ (Kreideprinz et al., XXXX)”
That is not an interaction one can just forget. Intrigued and encouraged with a competitiveness that does not usually make itself apparent, Alhaitham decides to test the extent of your... ‘talent’. The Scribe prefers being frank — he was impressed. So much so, that it overpowered whatever bruise was inflicted on his ego.
More and more of these debates ensued, much to his bewilderment. The man who would never stay for an extra minute in his office after work hours, willingly spends time debating with the librarian of the House of Daena. Most of the time you end up winning in them. The Scribe doesn't even process the reason that he has let you win deliberately a few times was because he found the smile that followed it... pleasant.
Then, bringing a rude end to his little guilty pleasure, the news of your expertise spreads. Scholars from all Darshans come to you to check the accuracy of the rumors during the precious free-time he's been the sole occupant of until that moment. Because of your exposure to many new personalities, it appears as though his had dulled in your eyes.
He gets it, one would naturally be more drawn towards a splatter of color than the monochrome wall it decorates. The same wall also has to make sure the bricks don't fall off from their places. So, he decides to leave you to your devices.
...Except, that plan screeches to a halt when he sits down to sift through applications, his treacherous mind conjures phantoms of your smile directed to people not him, which grips onto his heart and squeezes.
Rejected, rejected, rejected — he tosses every file and application to the trash without blinking once that day. Only when he's done that, does the haze recede and he's staring at the floors in profound confusion. The abruptness of that reaction stuns him so much that he rushes to the Bimarstan for a thorough check-up, the doctor's repeated reassurance that he's fine and healthy does nothing to quell the waves of thoughts spiraling in his head.
Thanks to that, he knows now there is nothing wrong with him physically, but something has definitely happened to his mental wiring and the impact of that change leaves the wellbeing of his physical state to question as well.
Break down, look for the cause, reorganize and form a branch of conclusions — that is the pattern Alhaitham has always followed when presented with a problem. A tiny part of him entices him to jump to more reckless means ; no need to think, just drag them away from the commotion and grovel at their feet so that they'll spare attention to your pathetic existence ! But the greater part of his conscious mind, fueled by rationale, is, understandably appalled by these thoughts. In the end, he circles back to his traditional methods.
Alhaitham has always been cautious, so he quickly crosses out the prospect of confiding with someone else about these urges he's been having. He'd usually consult a book for help, but Sumeru housed no records even alluding to his condition. It's only during a stroll through the Grand Bazaar, a passing glance to the act played upon the center stage, does he finally gain a clue.
“Scrambled thoughts, erratic heartbeats and restless state of being? These could be the prelude to a greater illness! Or, a far, far gigantic sickness may have grasped your soul — love.”
Those were the words that managed to sneak in through the confines of his earpieces, rooting him to his place in the midst of the crowd. At that point, he had been exasperated. Of all things, that is what describes his predicament best? A lead is still a lead though, so he conducts further research on the matter and to no one's surprise, the more he digs, the more it makes sense.
The Sages always advise against vain pursuits involving emotions, it's clear more than ever to Alhaitham exactly why. He doesn't outright reject the notion though, research on this field is scarce in the Nation of Scholars. The available ones only scratch the surface ; there is an ocean beneath the thin ice and the itch of unraveling those depths appears to be too insistent to ignore.
But the centerpiece of his experiment was still missing, prancing around carelessly. If only he could somehow, in some way, at an auspicious moment manage to steal you away from the barrier of that desk — he halts his thoughts with a deep inhale. Surely there are more efficient approaches, he only needs to think.
He's heard that gifts and flowers can soften hearts, perhaps that should be his next course of action. His paycheck is more than enough to cover the expenses for a few continuous months and while he's at it, why not buy that incense capable of dulling people's senses which just so happens to work best with flowers? When you're off-guard he could easily — no, no, no, this isn't working.
In fact, regardless of how many other ways he comes up with, it always circles back to his initial thought. It would be so easy for him as well, certainly less time-consuming than whatever gift-giving and compliment showering the Inazuman light novels are preaching. He's stealthy enough to evade the Matra and his status could tie lose ends. Yes, the advantages of this route outweigh the set-backs in comparison to everything else.
So he refreshes his mind, there is a connection between everything ; it's common knowledge that the librarian of House of Daena will personally rescue overdue books. That record hasn't yet been broken, regardless of whether they had to traverse to the deepest part of the rainforest or some abstruse corner of the desert — the weakest link identified.
He will run countless simulations in his mind, calculating the time and possible day you'll come knocking at his door ; by then, the causal factors will be dealt with.
And everything else will resolve itself.

My mind is full of rigger and ropes extraordinaire and also master of lazy sex Alhaitham who, depending on the day, will walk up to you when his libido is extremely high will walk right up to you and say “are you feeling ropes tonight dear? Work was tiring and I need to release some stress” followed by the morning after of “dont wanna move but still wanna be inside you,” and will fuck you in whatever cuddling position y’all ended up in. I think he’s super clingy when he’s tired and on that sex high

9:35 ⎯ alhaitham
you wake up to the sun shining across your face. you hear birds chirping and if you focus hard enough you could hear the ocean's waves calmly flowing into port ormos. you also wake up to a certain someone's bare chest.
alhaitham sleeps on his back while you curl up into his side. the way you manage your way into the crook of his bicep practically became routine at this point. his arm lays wrapped around your waist, a firm grasp, but not too tight.
you lift your head, propping yourself up on your hand. you are rarely the one who wakes up early. usually, it's alhaitham who rises before you, getting the chance to do things such as make coffee for you or cook a simple breakfast. you think about doing those things, but there is also another opportunity you cannot miss out on.
when alhaitham sleeps, he looks so carefree. his eyes are closed in a peaceful manner, his brows aren't furrowed like when he is awake, and his lips are placed in a gentle pout. he looks adorable.
you couldn't resist tracing your finger over his facial features. your index finger dragged along the slope of his nose, his cheekbones, under his eyes. your thumb caressed the spot underneath his eyebrow (which was the top of his eyelid), the bottom of his lips, and the apple of his cheeks.
normally, he was the one who got to do this to you. you knew that he spent at least ten minutes just admiring you before getting out of bed. and every time before he left, he'd press a loving kiss on the corner of your eyelid.
but this time, you're the one who gets to admire him. you're the one who gets to trace all his features, study him even though you already know all of him, etch his very being into your brain.
and if you plant a kiss on the corner of his lips? well, he doesn't have to know that. and when one kiss develops into two; another planted on his jaw. two gradually turned into four, which then turned into six, and at this point you've stopped counting. alhaitham was just too easy to kiss; too easy to love.
alhaitham started stirring from his sleep ever since the first kiss. he knew you: he knew what your lips felt like on his skin, he knew that you've left the warmth of his arm, and he knew that you were awake right now. but even so, he chose to stay "asleep."
alhaitham chose to break his act when you were about to move towards his lips. right when you were about to press a kiss to his cheek, he moved his head so you could give him a chaste peck on his lips. he smiled, satisfied that he got what he wanted.
you, on the other hand, felt flustered. "alhaitham? did i wake you up?"
alhaitham yawned, one hand covering his mouth while the other secured his grasp on your waist, "i was already awake," he replied nonchalantly.
you raise an eyebrow at that. how long was he awake? hopefully not when you traced his face. "for how long?" you ask, removing your head from your palm and returning to your previous position on alhaitham's bicep.
"probably second kiss," alhaitham hid his smile as he buried his head into your neck. but you could tell he was smiling either way: you heard it in his voice. after all, you knew him as well as he knew you.
you huffed, "why didn't you say anything?"
"and disrupt you while you were perfectly content?" alhaitham sarcastically answered, "i would never impede with your happiness."
"shut up," you say, sheepish and slightly exasperated with his tone, then let your head fall into his chest.
alhaitham only laughs in response. his laugh his small, light, and airy. you're one of the very few people that get to hear it. "if it consoles you, i had a dream about you last night."
this gets your attention, your head rising up to look at his turquoise eyes, "really? pray tell."
alhaitham looked up at the ceiling as a way to pretend as if he was in deep thought, "well, you were there. but you were a fish. and you had a hat. then you were swallowed by a bigger fish, who took your hat. and then you were swallowed by the big fish, who had the hat before everyone else fought him for it," alhaitham explained with a straight face.
"wow," you deadpanned, "not helping your case, bud," alhaitham frowned at the nickname. something so cruel, so early. you continued, "looks like your subconscious isn't very fond of me. want to tell me anything?"
alhaitham shrugged, "you're very easy to hate." he knows it's the complete opposite. loving you has to be the most easiest thing alhaitham has ever done. it's easy to memorize you: your favorite things, your routine, your body, your mind; loving you was like an accomplishment.
you mock-gasp, swatting him away from you, "i see how it is then. you were in my dream too, if you wanted to know. except, you were a toad. a very ugly one. and dehya was there. so was candace. kaveh too. oh! and i can't forget the general mahamatra," you added cyno in to tease alhaitham. truthfully, instead of cyno, your coworker that owed you a cup of coffee appeared in the dream.
"you guys were all animals, and there was a long drought, so you all banded up to confront the rain god for rain. then, when you went to the rain god's temple, you guys planned a sneak attack and won a battle. and then you got rain," if you thought alhaitham's dream was complicated, alhaitham was absolutely dumbfounded by yours.
alhaitham pulled you closer into him, hands caressing the sides of your body, "my dream was definitely better. mostly because it had only you in it, and not the general mahamatra. or kaveh," your boyfriend lightly scoffed at the mention of the two men. you could only shake your head.
"i was only in there for a short second. before i was, y'know, eaten," you nudged his chest, only for alhaitham to rest his head atop of yours. but then you perked up, "hey. are you jealous of my subconscious? is it cause i dreamed of other people?" you smirked.
"why would you say that?" alhaitham peered down at you.
"well, you did get a little sullen at the mentions of cyno and kaveh," you pointed out, even poking a finger into his chest, separating you from him.
alhaitham only trailed his fingers underneath your shirt, creating shapes on your skin as he leaned in closer to you, "i'm not jealous," he pouted, "i did only dream of you though. proves i'm loyal."
you sigh. he was jealous of your subconscious. oh well. maybe that will teach his subconscious to not dream about your demise, "oh, yet i still died in your dream, so maybe not so much," you mocked, smile brimming your lips, "maybe our dreams are connected. me dreaming about other people probably reflected on your negligence to keep me alive," you teased.
"okay," alhaitham pressed his forehead up against yours, "i did not fail to keep you alive. that was all the circle of life."
"tomato, tomayto. i'm leaving," you only make your way to the edge of the bed before alhaitham pulls you back into him. your back lands into his chest with a 'thump!'
"wait. i'm sorry for my subconscious wanting to kill you. from now on i'll only think of you. as long as you stay in bed with me," alhaitham whispered into your skin, right next to your earlobe.
you let out a small laugh, "you pouting right now, haitham?" you turn to face him, brushing some small hairs out of his face.
"no. will you stay in bed with me?" he presses a kiss onto your jaw and interlocks your fingers underneath the blanket. how could you say no?
"hm. i don't know," you tease, looking around the room to delay your answer, "do i want to stay in bed with an ugly toad?"
alhaitham's fingers poke you in the side, making you squirm, "maybe i should've stayed with cyno. doubt he would've dreamt about my death."
"well, you're in bed with me. not the general mahamatra," alhaitham made sure to hold you close, as if your little dream would make you escape from his hold. yeah, no way would he ever let that happen. not when he loves you more than anything else, regardless of what his subconscious was trying to tell him. you are a routine he would never get rid of. you are a light he would never let die out. you are a fish he would always look after.
"yeah, i suppose," you wrap your arms around alhaitham's torso and rest your head on the pillow next to his, "hopefully i made the right decision," you nestle closer into alhaitham's warmth, body instantly relaxing in his proximity.
when alhaitham kisses the crown of your head without saying anything, you know that you did.
can anyone tell me if it's alhaitham or al-haitham? idk which one is correct so if any of y'all would like to inform me that'd be very much appreciated! ty!!

Hate at first sight - Alhaitham Requested by @isekyaaa
Contains suggestive lines for the sake of a joke
“Tighnari, You know anyone who could translate this?” She brought over the book to him. It was an old book she found while cleaning up her grandpa’s house. A book in a foreign language that her grandpa had forgotten over the years leaving its contents unknown to his family. “It’s supposed to be an heirloom.”
Tighnari looked over the book she had handed to him. A language that was unrecognizable to him but recognizable in that he had seen one of his friends reading a book in what looked to be a similar language. “I know a guy. If you're free tonight you might have a chance to get it translated or at least be pointed in the right direction.”
“Why tonight?"
“Cyno made a new deck again. Your translator should be there.”
“I forgot you have game nights with the General Mahamatra. I shouldn't take up too much of your time. Well as long as this translater of yours is good at their job.”
“He is. Just know he can be a little blunt. Though little may be an understatement. And with Kaveh there, don't be surprised if you see some sort of argument.”
“You're friends must be a lively bunch. Wait Kaveh is the one with blonde hair right? He was the one who was here two weeks ago?” She asked making sure her memory was correct.
“He was. Why?”
“He gave me advice on what rug I should pick. He didn't even see where it would go and gave me perfect advice. I really would like to thank him. My living room actually feels like a separate room even though it's an open floor plan.”
“I'm sure he'll appreciate it.”
-
It was nice to say hello to Cyno even though she didn’t know that super well. Most of her knowledge came from Tighnari mentioning him. But that and the fact she didn’t talk to him much meant that she really didn’t know him. It was entertaining to hear a few of his jokes though. The juxtaposition of the wordplay with how stoic his delivery was may have been the only reason she enjoyed them though.
While Kaveh acted as if he had known her for their entire lives. He was warm and welcoming. But also the moment she thanked him it was like he became a second sun in the room. He was extremely giving, offering to give her home interior design advice any time. It was evident in his face and how he spoke how much he appreciated the thanks even if it was just over what shape of rug to get.
It was enjoyable to be around all three of them. Though as nice as their company was it wasn't the reason she Had followed Tighnari along to his game night With his friends at the tavern. She still had a book in her bag that needed to be translated and there was no translator in sight.
“Tighinari, are you sure your translator is supposed to be here?”
“I’m sure he’ll show.”
“Translator?” Kaveh asked before his smile evaporated away. “You’re here for Al Haitham?”
“That’s a first,” Cyno commented.
“Well, now my translator has a name. But yes.” She pulled the book out of her bag. “My grandpa said it’s a family heirloom but no one in my family can even read it. Tighnari said that he’d be able to translate it for me.”
“At a horrible cost though. You couldn't have just sent her in the direction of the Akademiya?” Kaveh asked, being quite dramatic about the situation.
“I'd rather have someone that Tighnari trusts than some I don't know who. The book is an heirloom after all.”
“It will be fine,” Tighnari reassured, he pointed at the door. “Even then, he’s here.”
Al Haitham made his way over to their table. He sat down at the table already looking annoyed at who knows what.
Tighnari was kinda enough to briefly explain the situation to him along with a basic introduction. Even though Al Haitham had agreed to translate he looked as if Y/N's simple request was asking too much. Maybe a frown was just permanently etched into his face.
Al Haitham held the book looking over the cover. “To count the ways.” He translated the cover before flipping through the pages. His eyes widen skimming through the contents. He looked over at Y/N who looked brimming with excitement to learn what was in the book. “This is just erotica.”
Cyno slowly placed the cards in his hands on the table now fully paying attention to what was unfolding in front of him. Kaveh choked on his wine only for Tighnari to pat his back as he coughed.
Y/N’s face dropped. “It's a heirloom. It’s been in my family longer than my grandpa has been alive. It can’t be. You must be mistranslating it.” She reasoned.
“Your heirloom is in an old form of a Fontaine language. A language I’ve been reading since I was 17. Do you want me to translate it aloud for you?” His words were an insult and a challenge to her.
“If you know it so well then could you give me a real translation.”
Al Haitham rolled his eyes opening the book back up. “Her eyes widen at the sight of his toned chest. In a frantic haze of want she quickly moved to help remove his belt excited to see the sight of his-”
Y/N snatched the book from his hands. Her face was warm with embarrassment. “It was nice talking with you three but I have to go.” She politely excused herself from others before turning to face Al Haitham. “You could drown in a ditch for all I care.”

How i personally think genshin men would show affection..! if you have any requests for characters, animes or prompts you wanna see, send them in~!
this is probably really out of character but like☹️
Diluc
- probability not the biggest fan of pda (physical display of affection)
- despite how rough and intimidating he may look, he’s very gentle, especially when it comes to you.
- prefers front hugs, he likes the feeling of having your arms surround him with warmth <3
- hand kisses. this man would absolutely give you hand kisses. if you have a mole/freckle on ur hand or wrist, he’ll specifically kiss it <33
- peaceful walks throughout the area, listening to the sound of nature
- definitely cute dinner dates too though
The weekends were always your favorite. You could temporarily leave all your responsibilities behind, and have fun.
Sometimes fun would include going to Mondstadt to mingle with the people there, sometimes it was going out to explore around Wolvendom. Today, fun was helping your husband make dinner.
It was your idea to have you both make dinner. You planned out what you wanted to have and everything.
It was a nice way to bond.
You would both sit there chopping vegetables, heating the pot, and talking about everything and anything.
Al-Haitham
- he is definitely a busy man, but somehow he always manages to make time for you.
- always doing small things for you in public (e.g. holding doors open, carrying your things) without even thinking twice about it
- it may take him awhile to get used to physical touch though
- when he does, his favorite de-stresser would probably be cuddling with you. being able to let his whole body relax as he slumps on top of you, finally letting himself ease down.
- i feel like he would also read his books aloud for you if you asked too.
- if you like studying, school, or like the same subject as he does, you both will definitely just have study dates, or debates.
- please hear me out on the debates though… like you guys both have different perspectives and debate it out.
- will definitely pull you in by the waist when he hugs you.
At the end of a traitorous long day of being hounded with paperwork, the higher ups, colleagues… the scribe comes home. He may look normal, but you can tell he’s tired from the way his eyes droop, and his posture is slightly slouched.
He pulls you in by your waist to give you a hug, slumping his body weight on you. He tucks his head into ur neck and sits there for a bit as he inhales your smell.
It smells like home, it gives him comfort.
Once you finally get him to change out of his everyday clothes, and lay down, it’s almost as if his whole body deflates once he hits the mattress.
You softly smile at the state of the scribe, whose head is always held high, with a stoic look. Now, he’s just a normal man, who has come home from work, and wants to rest.
You lay down by him, pulling him into you to cradle him almost. Running your hands through his hair as his breaths eventually become level, his body gets heavy, and he falls asleep.

al haitham. do i like him? not particularly. do i want to bully him? absolutely.
am I alone in the fact that i want al haitham to be reluctantly infatuated with me? i want this man to harbor a secret crush that his pride won’t let him disclose. always keeping me at arms length and grumbling about how annoying and needy i am. he’d use every opportunity to give me a hard time, like a school kid being mean to his crush. but UNLIKE my infatuation with diluc, i’d just bully him about it.
i’m too loud and upbeat? maybe go back to reading your book. you’re annoyed at the fact i’m not concerned with being logical and by the books? it’s called creativity, and all good academics should have a healthy relationship with the arts, mr. scribe.
he’d be so miffed. which makes him even more pissed when he keeps feeling an aching in his gut and his pants growing oh-so tight at the thought of me, against all logic.
someone else feels this way right? please respond so we can revel in his frustrated horniness together

Kaveh of Kshahrewar Darshan, the brilliant architect, always wears his heart on his sleeve.
always acting out of the good of his heart, of his conscience, putting everyone else before him, his ideals before basic necessities, heart on his sleeve, cards on the table– an open book and an enigma at the same time; many knows of the sufferings he goes through deep inside.
a genius, an artisan spirit and a good man above all, Kaveh's priorities always lie to a fault. to the point of burning down, perishing into nothing but dust, a moth to a flame, and him, to his ideals, to good deeds, to those he calls friends, those he wants to fit into, those he wants to believe in the good of–
such a sentimental character as he, even if his heart burned from upside down, he would cast it all away, were it to result in your happiness, even at the cost of your love becoming someone else's.
he would actively reside in the shadows if it meant for your smile to last longer, people's happiness to burn brighter– he would help pave that road himself, in fact, even as much as to be the wingman, break down the boulders and place down the carefully crafted stones; creating the most beautiful road of them all, one he had to crawl and slither for, not minding the cuts and scratches he had obtained along the way.
burning down in the process to keep the lantern lit, to maintain the flame bright and fit; the sun burns bright at the cost of kshahrewar's light.

⚘ ‹ note › i'm back from the hell that is uni (sorry for being v ia my priorities are all over the place) with another alhaitham fic to commemorate his arrival in the next update <3 good luck to everyone who will be wishing for him!!
Today will be a good day – this was something you’ve been trying to tell yourself lately as your final thesis defense for the current academic quarter scheduled by the Herbad assigned to your field of study was drawing near. Not only were you plagued with one major academic deadline, but you were also required to participate in a paired final debate for a school event with a guy named Alhaitham that made you question your sanity.
Most of your days were spent inside the House of Daena double-checking if your references were dependable, so with each question asked of you would be answered with brevity and a certainty that your responses would leave no room for further questioning. You weren’t the type of person who would break under the interrogation of your own research. You’ve dedicated time to understand it, cultivated methodologies to achieve near-perfect results. Although your classmates might repeatedly say you were doing too much already as one of the leading students in the Akademiya, you simply would not settle for less, especially when the final deliberation of grades was just around the corner.
It doesn’t help that competition among your peers is as toxic as an unmonitored game of TCG. If you were to simply not go above and beyond, you would hardly be able to hold a prestigious position reserved for Vahumana scholars and have the academic freedom to pursue your own research without having to consider the ethics involved (not that you would do something illegal).
Walking up the stairs to the library, you made your way to your favorite spot in the room: the table near the shelves containing books for Haravatat students. You smiled as you saw your seat was unoccupied, placing the books you’ve borrowed the week prior and the scrolls containing your notes on the empty table.
Today you were unsurprisingly earlier than your habitual schedule. Then again, given that there were only four weeks left until the defense, you wanted not to waste any time dawdling in the comfort of your bed. Being painstakingly neutral with that time limit made you restless. You were glad most of your classmates opted to finalize their work a week prior to the deadline, as you have most of the library all to yourself.
Well, and to the gray-haired man who just walked in, eyeing you distastefully.
You raised an eyebrow and opened your scrolls as he approached your table. Skimming through the unmarked references you needed to check, you took out the books necessary for examination, and was about to get started when an irritated sigh made you turn away.
You looked at the man, tilting your head to the side. “Can I help you with something?”
He pursed his lips, frowning. “You’re in my seat.”
Glancing around the room, you replied, eyebrows furrowing, “There are plenty of empty seats nearby.”
“Yes, and you’re in my favorite one.” He replied like this was public information.
A dazed look of bewilderment crossed your face, and you schooled it into impassiveness, uncertain of your next approach. “You don’t own this library.”
He rolled his eyes as if you were being unreasonable. “Obviously.” He replied, pulling out the seat opposite to yours and placed his scrolls and books with a huff.
Narrowing your eyes, you glanced at your scrolls and pressed a hand to your temples.
Today is going to be a good day.
Remarkably, everything was going well between you and the man. You kept to your side of the table, and he did the same. His gaze was intent on his work, and you found his undoubtedly unpleasant presence to be tolerable than you expected. The sound of rustling parchment from the occasional shift of position and the turning page of a book filled the air between you two, and you felt a sense of relief from the interaction you had with him earlier did not escalate to further unpleasantries.
All good things must come to an end, though, as you surreptitiously eyed the books, he had with him.
“You’re from Haravatat, aren’t you?” You asked as he glanced at you and nodded. “What’s your research all about?”
“Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to disclose that at my own discretion,” he muttered, and you clenched your jaw.
“I can assure you that I’m not someone who would stoop so low and steal the subject of someone’s thesis.” You grumbled, discomfited by the fact that he could just accuse someone of such a thing so blatantly. How rude.
Leaning back, he pursed his lips in thought, then sighed. “I’m defining how the approach of Haravatat and Vahumana on the study of history has its consequential influence on the interpretation of the universal rules and various ruins.” He answered, raising a brow expectantly. “I’m certain you’re well-acquainted with this argument, seeing as your school is part of my study.”
You shifted in your seat at his scrutiny of your presence, contemplative. “How did you know I’m from Vahumana?”
“You are Y/N, aren’t you?” He cleared his throat and rested his chin on his hand. “Part of the Akademiya’s Top 10? You’re practically famous.”
A flush crept across your cheeks and he avoided your gaze. “That’s not relevant. Those records are purposefully concealed to the public for confidentiality, unless there are exceptions.”
He leaned away from the table, suddenly resuming his work. “Yes, I’m aware of that.”
“So?”
“So what?”
You sighed heavily. “How do you know me?”
“I hardly think that information is valuable. After all, the Akasha Terminal exists, and I’m clearly wearing one right now.”
Touché.
Grimacing, you turned on your Akasha Terminal. You didn’t really like using it because it often provided you with headaches in the morning, but you felt foolish for not trying to know who this person was while he knew all about you. Apparently, even from the moment he saw you. Despite your negative sentiments towards the technology, you accepted the fact that you might be plagued by a migraine tomorrow for a solitary question.
Your vision swam as the words appeared in front of your eyes, and your mouth went dry as the man’s face emerged beside it.
“You’re Alhaitham?”
“Congratulations.”
“How is that possible? My Herbad said you were the most pleasant student he’s ever had to work with, and I’m supposed to–” your mouth fell open. “Oh, god.”
“Ten points to Vahumana.” Alhaitham mumbled, stealing a furtive glance at your flustered appearance. He looked away again, clearing his throat. “Would you want to discuss the terms of our partnership for the debate, or do you need a day to compose yourself?”
Today was not a good day. Today was not a good day at all.
Clasping your hands together, you straightened in your seat, taking note of Alhaitham’s inconspicuous way of hiding his unease at the thought of being your partner. You couldn’t blame him. You also would have preferred to meet with your partner professionally than whatever both of you did.
To be fair, you weren’t the one spouting claims for probable theft.
“Let’s strike a deal, then.” You declared, gathering your composure, and Alhaitham finally looked at you, appearing relieved. “We work on our sources for the debate and practice for the next two weeks, and then we’ll leave each other alone once we’ve won. You won’t ever see me again unless certain circumstances arise.”
He pondered for a moment before nodding slowly. “Yes, and I want my chair.”
“No, I get to keep the chair, and you’ll get to have the seat you’re on right now,” he crossed his arms, about to retort. “But we get to keep this whole table. Well, at least for as long as we cross paths unintentionally.”
“You do realize that is highly improbable considering that we go to different schools.”
“Yes, I do.”
“You don’t own this library.” He echoed your words at you, and you see the quick upturn of his lips.
You hid a smile of your own, forcing your face to remain stoic. “Obviously.”
For a moment, you wondered if he’ll reject you as his face scrunched up, but then he nodded. “I agree to the terms of your deal.” Standing up, he reached his hand out. “I hope we can work together professionally.”
You highly doubted that. You shook his hand, and it enveloped your whole hand. “I hope so, too.”
The sound of more people coming inside the House of Daena made you glance at the entrance, and Alhaitham followed your gaze. He gathered his scrolls and books. “That’s my cue.” He said, and you watched him disappear from your sight.

Ok but the fact that Al Haitham is a lingiustics major in canon is something I will never accept.
To me he will forever be a physics major and or a civic engineer that works with Kaveh and constaly fights with him about how impossible certain aspects of his building are. It's just the truth.
#he has the vibes of a physics major#probably the autism#but honesly a lot of physics majors have a bit of the tism... like honestly i have had some insane physics teacher#in any case yes that is his job in my head what do you mean he's a linguistics major? that's for visibly gay people lmao what are you doing#there as a gay man who looks vaguely straight? tryna signal that you're gay for a certain someone? Uh? Al Haitham you better answer...#autism impact#al haitham#kaveh#kavetham#textpost

Me, during Al Haitham’s world quest: *Sigh*. I miss my wife, Al Haitham. I miss her a lot.
Al Haitham: *Laughs*
Me, going back to the Tanit camp halfway through his quest to stand next to Jeht and pretend that I’m her girlfriend now: I’ll be back.
#jeht#Jeht playable when#Jeht hangout event when#Like#Yes I am unhealthily attached to a character who will never even be playable what about it#Yes I skipped out of Al Haitham's quest in order to go vibe with Jeht what about it#Anyways I finished the Dirge World Quest#Didn't like it as much as Golden Slumber#I'm pissed off about Azariq being a traitor like damn Jeht can't have anything nice#And yeah it's really funny knowing ahead of time that Mother Babel has already betrayed us but they're still like#'Oh no she's good and Azariq was the traitor we promise' I SAW THE TABLETS SHE FUCKED OVER NOT ONLY US BUT JEBRAEL#AKA THE ONLY GENSHIN MAN WHO CAN CANONICALLY BE CALLED A DILF#but Jeht being 100% a lesbian and generally just having good development is incredible#Also I'm fucking pissed off that Liloupar exists#Why are you racist? Why are you straight up pro-slavery? Why do you exist? Why can't you just be BenBen?#I'm gonna speedrun this exploration so that I never have to see its fugly ass again#Imagine being somehow worse than Tirzad aka the WORST NPC UNTIL YOU SHOWED UP#At least Tirzad would probably be like 'Yeah slavery is bad wtf'#He's the king of microaggressions but at least he would be anti-slavery#Unlike SOMEBODY#WHO IS PRESENT FOR SOME REASON BEYOND MY COMPREHENSION#Anyways#I'm gonna go back to writing Jeht x Reader fanfic because I love her so much

Listen carefully kids. Don't "build pity". Don't pull for a 4* when you're close to pity. I'm AR 60 at this point so like I literally don't care anymore but well, if you want a specific 5* DONT MAKE MY MISTAKES.
