A revamp of my old persona from when I was a kid. This character is extremely personal to me- as the original persona was used when I was at the lowest point of my life. He's been revamped to match my current feelings and tastes.
Akrasiel, Archangel of Vengeance and Redemption. After escaping captivity from a Demon Lord, he has been reborn anew.

Vox here, to... future Vox I guess? Or whichever group got fed up with my games and finally offed me. Heh, good luck getting anything if it's the latter. Trust me... I'm not just good at finding secrets. Keeping them is a pretty valuable skill in my line of work. Although, I suppose if you figured out any and all important files are stored up here, you've already figured out one. Anyways, I finally, finally got a bit more information on this whole war, enough to finish that overview for new sinners Vel’s been nagging me to make. Honestly, it was pure luck. The old-timey prick was out of commission today, so a certain archangel had to come to our little meeting. Sure, Alastor’s much more enjoyable company than that stick in the mud, but I get a hell of a lot more information from Micheal. Well, considering the fact that I get nothing from Alastor, literally anybody would give me more, but the point still stands.
Really, it’s remarkable how much you can find out from a few, well-aimed questions. Yeah, Micheal doesn’t answer half of them, but his silence speaks loud enough. Add in the fact that he physically can’t lie, and my literal job is collecting and selling information, well…
From what I gathered, the war did in fact start because of a few angels who seceded from Heaven, like the rumors say. Something about missing the ‘creative spark’ Lucifer had given it, I don’t know. I really need to organize the information I have on the archangels at some point. Or get more. I know basically nothing. Fuck you, Micheal.
But the fallen angels- we call them Ars Goetia now- somehow managed to convince the hellborn and the sinners who were down there at the time to start a war with Heaven. Ugh, seriously, whichever of my ancestors thought that was a good idea, I really hope their death was torturous. This war is… well, saying it’s a nightmare is an understatement. It makes literal Hell look like a playground.
In any case, the war started, and Micheal took his armies to stop it before it got out of control. Yeah, he did a great job at that. Well, they did good in the beginning, but, towards the end of the war, for some reason, the portals in between Heaven and Hell got cut off. Back then, apparently, only one of the archangels knew how to make portals, and he got incapacitated temporarily somehow. I think his name is Akrasiel or something? Tsk, I really do need to get more information on Archangels. Fuck, Micheal’s a secretive bitch. Anything else, and I can find it out in a snap, but bring up his brothers, and he might as well be a brick wall.
Essentially, they got cut off from Heaven, and stuck down here. From what I gathered from the King for the low, low price of the angels’ battle plans for the next month, His Majesty and his son found Micheal a week or two afterwards, barely alive, even with his immortality, with all of his soldiers dead around him. Nobody knows who killed them, and Lucifer refused to say how they died. But, they took Micheal back to the palace, and, well… that’s where the stories don’t line up.
Lucifer claims that that night, Micheal assassinated Ramon, the Prince. He wasn’t lying as far as I can tell, and trust me when I say I can tell when he lies. Also… corpses are pretty solid evidence. But… assassination isn’t Micheal’s style, and, like I said, a lot can be gathered from his silence when he’s asked a question. Scars, injuries that never healed, shredded wings… he went through something, and it was bad. I can’t tell which story is the truth, and honestly? I don’t want to know. Knowing things is my whole job, but… I’m pretty sure I won’t like the answer either way.
No matter what happened, the war got so much worse. Demons who had stayed out of the fight joined the war in outrage, and Micheal’s immortality was the only thing that helped him survive. On the other hand, the angels were furious at the slaughter of their entire army, and they doubled down. The Exorcists, a new group of angels specialized to kill as many demons as possible, were created, while Micheal left Heaven in a self-inflicted exile, with quite a few angels and even some demons following him. And, hey, that’s where we get our original three sides of the war. Or, as I like to call them, the original three e’s, because they all have different goals.
Eliminate. The demons, who want to eliminate all the angels.
Exorcize. The angels, who want to exorcize all the demons.
And enlighten. Micheal and his followers, who want it to stop. Or, well, wanted. I’m pretty sure that, nowadays, Micheal’s much more obsessed with revenge, which… yeah, I’m not touching that mess if you paid me. Trust me, people have tried. No.
Two hundred something years ago, the King and Queen had another kid, Charlie. Sweet kid, too sweet, really, for somebody who was born in the middle of a war. She started her whole thing. ‘Enrichen’ as I call it. She basically took over Micheal’s original role as peacekeeper, but… with a lot less sway with the angels, and just… people in general. It’s… not going well to say the least. Seriously, a hotel? Outside of Temptation? Yeah... that's going to work.
Oh, and of course there are the Overlords. Ugh, them. They’re just idiots who just want to ‘endure’ the fight, hoping that it will end soon. No? It’s been going on for centuries? You should try to enjoy the limited time you have. Well, that’s what we say, and it’s the motto of Gluttony. Or, at least, what was Gluttony.
Temptation. The best place in Heaven or Hell for any soul looking for a good time. I’m pretty damn proud of it too. It’s… well, amazing doesn’t do it justice. Whatever you want, whenever you want, however you want it, it’s there. All seven deadly sins are shown pretty clearly here, and it’s the closest thing anybody- angel or demon- will get to a true Heaven while this fight is on.
And, well, if it’s easier for me to learn everything there is to learn here, that’s my business, isn’t it?

~*~ (Hello there if you made it down here! This is the first thing I'm posting for an AU I came up with, called the Eternal War AU because I am bad at naming things lol. Lore will be explained either in posts like this where Vox is making audio/text files and oneshots. I may try drawing ref sheets at some point for the major characters/affiliations, but that's a big if. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this, and, if you are interested, feel free to ask questions!) Vita’s Fall
The story of how Vita became a Fury; the general of the first layer of hell. Written as a short story to explain the motivations of one of my Dungeons and Dragons villains, who the party encountered on an unsavoury trip to hell.
~~~
I savoured my last night with Audra.
The way her arms wrapped around me, as we laid in our bed curled up under the sheets, was the warmest I ever felt. I drew circles with my finger over her large scar on her chest, just over her heart. Our chests heaved as we both tried to catch our breaths.
“We could stay in bed forever. Forget about the battle, and fuck until we are shrivelled and old and turn to dust,” I said, as I lazily kissed her shoulder.
“Even a lifetime in bed with you would never be enough,” she said. She stretched her legs as she wrapped her arms around me tighter.
Audra was the most beautiful woman. Her beige skin shimmered with an iridescent glow in the low light from the candles around us. The light reflected a soft, dewy sweat on her skin, and a glimmering lustre that betrayed her celestial heritage.
I lifted my head to stare into her eyes. Her eyes were as bright as amber, and she looked radiant. I could have stared at her forever.
There were the muffled sounds of revelry from the tavern below.
“I am serious, what if we escaped? We could sneak out of here, tonight, and go anywhere we wanted while they dance and drink and party,” I said.
Audra reached a hand to stroke the side of my face, moving a few pieces of hair behind my ear. She laughed softly.
“You know that would not work. Raguel would find us sooner than we could get to the next town,” she said, but I burrowed my face into her neck.
“Fuck the celestials, and fuck their war. We have served our time. I do not see why they need us still,” I said, and Audra shook her head.
“We vowed to help, Vita. We will be home soon,” she said, “can we just enjoy tonight?”
I wanted to scream at her, to make her understand what I meant, but I knew it was futile. Audra was wickedly loyal; to me, and to Raguel. She had been fighting demons and devils for him long before they met, and even longer than when Vita took her own vow to help him. She was one of the first aasimar knights, the Akrasiels, and she would never turn on him.
Instead, I kissed her hand that cupped my face.
“Of course. But only one more battle. Then you’ll follow me to Harringfield, and we will start that farm we have always planned,” I said.
“Of course, Vita. I promise.”
“With little goats, and a garden, and no one to bother us.”
My kisses trailed from her hand, to her shoulder, and slowly travelled down her chest.
“It sounds like a dream,” she moaned.
The rest of the night was a blur, filled with love and admiration.
After everything that happened, I wished that I had fought with her that night.
__________________________
The knights stood at the crest of the hill, lined up beside each other in a perfect arrangement. Shoulder to shoulder, close to a hundred aasimar soldiers dressed in bright golden armour emblazoned with Raguel’s sigil across our fronts stared at the empty valley before us. At any moment, I expected to sight the enemy over the grassy horizon. Everything, at this stage, was too calm.
I stared ahead at the troops, a few rows before me, at the brown tresses gently peeking out of Audra’s armour. While the rest of us were dressed in golden armour of a similar make and type, Audra had a large red fringe through her helmet. Our commander.
“We stand at the precipice of battle. We expect today to be hard, but no more challenging than anything we have faced before. We will prevail over these devilish foes, today and forever,” she said, as her voice boomed across the troops. Each of us stood silent and still as she spoke.
“We are the Akrasiels; the first offence of Raguel, and his right hand. All us here today make up his soldiers. We will defeat the devils that cross into these lands today in his name, and show the devilish princes the might of the celestials.”
The crowd roared.
“Raguel tells me it is only the devils we face today, without their generals. We are not to encounter any of the Furies. It is Raguel’s light that shines on our backs, and lights the battlefield,” she yelled, and lifted a hand to the sky. It appeared as though she willed the clouds themselves parted, and we all felt the sun begin to beat down on our backs, “with the full might of Raguel, we will strike them down!”
We all roared again. The sound of the cheering made your blood run. As we all stood there roaring into the sky, for a moment it felt like we could achieve the impossible.
And it was impossible, if there was a Fury around. Without them, it would be a challenging, but regular mission.
The yelling roused the group, and we awaited the first sign of danger.
It followed soon after.
We spotted the first flying form break above the horizon. Its screech pierced through our war cry, and we watched as the horizon became blotted with ferocious flying devils.
I felt my heart race as we all took our positions. It never became easier, staring down the hordes of devils that poured out during these attacks. But together, under Audra’s command, we could do it. I dared to cast one last look at Audra’s back as we poised to leave.
One more battle, I thought, repeating the promise we had made.
The army at the base of the valley stood ready to receive the approaching band of creatures. They prepared their archers and aimed to strike.
As the devils approached, Audra lifted her arm.
“Wings!” She said, and we all summoned our ethereal wings from our backs in a dazzling radiant display. Audra’s were beautiful; a bright orange and gold, extending grandly from her back. I felt mine extend from behind me, also, in the same amber orange.
As the devils continued to approach, the archers let out their first volleys and many of the flyers fell into the ground, some falling directly upon their own infantry below. But as more were killed, even more simply took their place. They approached still with a violent, chaotic ferocity that did not slow for fear of death or harm. Nothing would deter them from their flight path.
More volleys of arrows were shot into the horde, but they continued flooding into the valley. As they came closer, Audra held her hand high until they breached the hills immediately before us, and she brought her hand down to the ground, flexing her wings.
“For Raguel!” She said, as we all sprung into the sky.
As quickly as we took flight, we met the devils in the sky. One by one, each of us raised our swords and began our bloody skirmish.
I looked at the first devil I swung at. It had red, leathery skin and a devious smile, with long, sharp teeth all ground into sharp points. It cackled even as my sword sliced through its neck, and its hands scrabbled to grab me as it plummeted to the ground.
As soon as that one fell, another took its place, and I continued slicing. The creatures grabbed at me and tried to bring me down, but I wielded by sword and kept them at bay.
We all did. All around, the Akrasiels fought as hard as they could. The reverberations of their holy swords sung out like a choir as they struck at their foes, thinning the devil horde before them.
Blood splattered onto my face through the gaps in my helmet, and my body ached as I continued swinging my sword at the creatures before us. One tried to scratch at my wings, but their hands went straight through, and I took the opportunity to strike them down as that looked on in confusion.
Some succeeded in tearing large gashes into my armour, but I was unharmed. Only a few additional scars to add to the arsenal.
The battle was long, but I finally saw no more devils emerging from the horizon. We were left with what remained of their armies, and we were winning.
I saw a few of our Akrasiels upon the ground, crumpled in a pile of blood and limbs. I mourned those I’d stood beside, recognising their faces below their helmets, but they were all surrounded by piles upon piles of devils around them.
I looked ahead, and saw Audra flying through the sky, gracefully dispatching the devils around her. As she had fought, feathers manifested on her ethereal wings that were now covered in blood, and they shone brighter than any of ours. She looked every part the general I knew her as, and Raguel had recognised it. He issued real wings only to his most loyal followers.
The rest of the battle was gruelling, fighting through most of what remained. I sliced at the last one I saw around me, and brought myself to the ground to try and catch my breath. Audra landed not far from me, and she flicked her sword to her side, shaking a large amount of blood from her blade.
“My love, we’ve done it,” she said, as the other Akrasiels roamed in circles above us, slowly dispatching what devils remained.
“I always believed in you,” I said, trying desperately to catch my breath. My chest burned, and my arms felt like lead, but I smiled at her.
“Soon we will be together, on that farm, living the life we dreamed for each other,” she said.
Even with the pain and exhaustion of battle, I felt elated.
Our life was ahead of us, the life we planned together. Free from the war between angels and devils, and free from anyone but us. I planned to mourn, and to rest, in the days to come, but with their success within reach, I could barely contain my happiness.
It was the Fury’s screech that drained me of that joy.
Tyria, the Silent Screamer.
She emerged from just behind Audra as we both scrambled into position. Her ashen grey feathered wings flew effortlessly toward us, as her black hair blotted out the light as she charged ahead, raising her blood red blade to her side.
Akrasiels, defeat the Fury, we heard in our minds. Raguel spoke his orders with a cadence no one could confuse for someone else, as it rang with a brilliance that was impossible to replicate by anyone who was not an angel. I felt the sun blaring down on our backs.
“Listen to the voice of our angel, Akrasiels. To battle!” Audra yelled, as she spread her wings and took to the sky to meet the enemy.
Tyria screeched again. I heard the awful sound reverberate in my skull, as I watched the air itself around her mouth ripple with the sound.
A dozen other Akrasiels converged on the Fury, but Tyria struck a few down before Audra reached her. The sound of their swords clashing rung out across the battlefield.
Akrasiels, do not falter. Remove this Fury, Raguel said, as the remainder of the Akrasiels hesitated to proceed.
“Fight, Akrasiels; hear his voice and fight,” she said, pushing Tyria backward as more swarmed on the Fury.
“Audra, this is a massacre, we need to flee,” I yelled, as Audra backed up. I saw the sweat gathered on her forehead. Even as we spoke, a few more of the Akrasiels were defeated.
But Audra refused to acknowledge me. Instead, she yelled again, “For Raguel!”
More people rushed to their deaths, and the Fury cut them down one by one. Audra took a deep breath and lifted her sword to prepare to engage again.
She refused to flee.
I knew she would, but I had to try.
I picked up my blade and rushed ahead of her, but she kept her pace with me.
“Vita, I have this,” she said through gritted teeth, as we approached Tyria.
“We are getting out of here, Audra,” I said, and we continued. We took to either side of the Fury, striking out with our blades.
Tyria parried Audra, as she struck my sword with her black steel gauntlet. I watched as the sword glanced away, and I tried to strike again. She reached out with a heavy armoured foot before my sword could reach her, and I was thrust back onto the ground. I tried to swing myself back up, but I was too late.
I watched as Audra pulled her sword back to strike at Tyria again, and she swiped at her faster than she had at any point previously.
Akrasiels, defeat the Fury, Raguel said again, as I watched Tyria’s blood red blade slice through Audra’s neck. Her head sunk through the air until it met the ground, where it thumped into the mud not far from my feet.
I wailed.
Audra’s body quickly fell soon after.
Raguel’s sunlight felt cold as I watched Audra’s eyes, with none of its normal light behind it.
I tried to lift myself up, but I couldn’t. I just dragged my knees across the ground and cradled Audra’s head in my hands.
I heard Tyria laugh, as a few more Akrasiels were struck from the sky.
Akrasiel, do my bidding, Raguel ordered, but I knew that this order was only to me.
The remaining Akrasiels stood ready to engage Tyria, but I knew that they were no match for the Fury.
Raguel, the all-seeing, knew this too.
He knew the Fury was here, yet he did not tell us that she was coming. He did not want to warn us. He wanted to send us to our deaths like good little soldiers, in the hopes that we might be successful.
I heard Tyria’s wings flutter as she brought herself to the ground. The remaining Akrasiels circled, staring in horror down at Audra’s body on the ground.
Tyria brought her sword to my neck. I felt the cold steel prick at my skin, and a small droplet of blood ran up her blade.
“Speak your last words, Akrasiel,” Tyria said. With the way her chest heaved, she was trying to catch her breath.
Do not disobey me, Akrasiel, Raguel’s voice rung in my head, fight the Fury.
“My name is Vita,” I whispered, as I gently placed Audra’s head back on the ground.
Tyria scoffed.
“Just do it,” I said. I straightened my back, sitting up as tall and composed as I could.
Tyria considered it for a moment.
“What a pity. Your friend died for a coward,” she said, but she held the blade at my neck. She pressed it closer, until blood ran from it, and back up the blade.
The Sword of Vengeance. Unable to be sheathed until it has had its fill of blood. And it was only partly full.
“You are right. Audra did die for a coward,” I said. Tyria looked confused, but she held her blade still.
The same coward that shone their cold light on us now, who did not deign to complete his own work. Instead, he sent an entire battalion of trained, elite soldiers to their deaths for nothing.
He sent Audra to her death for nothing.
He tried to send me to my death for nothing.
“His name is Raguel. That is the coward she died for,” I said, and Tyria laughed. She pulled her blade from my throat and stepped back. The remaining Akrasiels were few now, but they circled around us.
I picked up my blade beside me.
“There, now come and die a hero,” she said, issuing me challenge.
And I was ready for it.
I cast one last look at Audra before I stood.
If I die now, I’ll be with you again, I thought. I considered the swirling array of Akrasiels remaining. If I was successful, then no more of my comrades would need to die.
And the fight began. I charged at Tyria, and she easily parried my blade. She sliced at my leg, and I only managed to turn the blade away after it already had cut through my skin, and I struck again.
We continued, meeting blade with blade. The red sword Tyria held felt like a magnet, meeting my sword every time that I struck at her, and I was getting tired.
She lunged at me, and this time, the blade ran me through. It came through my side, and I felt blood pool in my throat. I tried to move, but it was futile. Tyria moved in close.
“You had no chance, Akrasiel,” she said, as she went to pull the blade out. I kept a hold of my blade, and threw myself back. I felt my mind swim as my side ached, but the adrenaline made me continue. I swung my sword at her, but I was weak and Tyria easily stepped back away from my blade.
I continued to swipe at Tyria, but my strength was failing and I saw the corner of my eyes continue to darken. With what strength I had left, I barrelled into her, tipping her just far enough back. I swiped out with my blade toward her leg and managed to slice at her thigh, in a tiny gap in her armour.
Tyria lost her footing, and stepped back to try to balance herself, but instead fell further onto the ground. It was the first time she had fumbled, and I had to take advantage of that.
Akrasiel, end her, Raguel said. She felt rage bubble within her, and considered disobeying.
Another voice sounded in her head, deeper than Raguel’s. It made her body shudder as I heard it.
Vita, end her, it said. Even with the blade in my side, slowly seeping the blood from my body, I felt it came from there. The blade spoke to me, and me as a person.
“Fuck you, Raguel,” I said.
I grasped Tyria’s sword, pulled it back out. I felt the wound close as the blade left, leaving behind only a bubble of blood on the surface that knitted her skin together. I swung that sword, now glowing in a blindingly red light as I struck at Tyria’s chest. I watched as her blood pooled in the air and travelled back up the blade, and I struck again. It hit her side, carving through her from hip to shoulder. My body burned with the strike, but the euphoria was electric.
As soon as the blade ripped through Tyria’s body, I felt each of the other wounds within my body begin to heal. Excess blood began mingling with my hands and travelled in trails up my arms to where I was hurt. My muscles no longer ached, instead they felt invigorated.
The remaining Akrasiels looked down upon me in confusion. A few sheathed their blades, but many of them instead held their own tighter.
I could not imagine what I looked like to them.
I went to speak, until I felt something happen to my back. I crumbled as feathers and then wings started sprouting from my back, ripping through my flesh like fresh wounds. Ashen grey feathers grew from my skin, until they made up large wings on my back.
I screamed out in excruciating pain. It felt more painful than anything I had ever experienced before. I fell to the ground, barely missing Tyria’s bisected body as I yelled.
The blade in my hand, now sated and full of blood, manifested a sheath around it. I saw red tendrils of magic swirl around the blade, and I finally realised what I had done. I had challenged a Fury, and won.
But this felt wrong. The light from Raguel that barrelled down on me did not feel warm or cold, instead it stung where it met my bare skin.
I heard the retreat of a few of the troops above me, but others rushed down at me.
“Excuse me, excuse me,” a small voice said beside me as someone tugged at my pants legs.
I looked down, and saw a tiny imp reaching its hands out to me. It held a golden amulet in its hand that it pressed. The amulet swirled with magic, and the imp directed it to the ground beneath us.
“Sorry mistress Fury, we’ll be home soon,” he said, as we tumbled into a portal that ripped through the ground beneath our feet. I stumbled into the darkness, and felt my body pulled through the rift to wherever we were heading.
It closed behind us as quickly as it had opened, and I managed to catch the faces of those knights who charged at me. The pain and anger on their face was burned into my memory.
I was now the enemy.
Even now, as I stood in the halls of the Black Citadel, I knew the Akrasiels and Raguel were behind me. They were only a distant memory now, after eighteen years in Hell.
In the main hall, my two Fury sisters bickered amongst each other.
“While I’m busy fighting the hoards of the Abyss, you’re resting on your laurels waiting for the Realms to open itself,” Yhannym said. They stood covered head to toe in blue-black blood, their blonde hair and black armour splattered with it. The same sword I held, the Sword of Vengeance, stood at their side.
“I do not do all the work myself, sister. When you realise you can leave the grunt work to others, you will have more time to do more,” Erleska said, as she sat in her chair. Her bright red hair tumbled down her back, and her blackened armour was spotless.
I approached, reaching for an apple on the table as Yhannym looked ready to throw a punch.
“Good morning, Vita,” Erleska said, and Yhannym relaxed as I entered, taking a few morsels of food from the table. I nodded in their direction and they returned the gesture.
As we all settled into our seats, Erleska addressed us both.
“We need to make our next plans, sisters.”
Wysteria: Can cook but they're very bland, easy to digest, and light meals with minimal spices. Food like bread, porridge, vegetable soup and stews are her go to.
Akrasiel: Best cook of the guild. If a hearty meal is what you want, a hearty meal you shall get. This man loves his meats, the juicier the better. I see him having been the one to cook the most in his fellowship. One of the few times, he appears more calm as he's focusing hard-core to make it tasty.
Faeranduil: This man has never cooked anything in his life, bless him. However, if you ask him to help, he'll do it gladly with varying degrees of success. Just happy to be included.
Daryill: Doesn't need to eat, and tbh, can't taste much. You can give her a recipe, and she'll follow it to the T. It tastes good more often than not.
