Patron was the reason Vincenzo changed for the better.

In his youth, he was a casanova, seducing women left and right but never commiting. In his words "saying no to a lady and making her upset was the worst thing a man could do". Casual and the type not to take things seriously, floating around whenever and wherever he desired. Not the most responsible guy as well.

After his friend (Patron's dad) married (which was a surprise for Vincenzo) and asked him to be his son's godfather, he hesitantly agreed... but the guy fell in love with the little guy and promised to become a role-model he could look up to <3

Darrell swears revenge and amasses a fortune around the world through shady means

He means to destroy/buy out Ophelia's father's business enterprises because "It's not about what I can gain, but what he can lose."

The Patron finds out his intentions

So it's like Heathcliff meeting Lord Henry Wotton essentially 👀 and they fall in love

Darrell intends to marry Ophelia to get to her father. She develops feelings for him along the line.
