Late Late Eurosong tomorrow.
"Go Tobann" by Ailsha is a massive fan favourite, and yeah right that song damn is, but I have a feeling that if chosen, then it might just not do as well as it sets out to. The song's production is noisy, with a lot of processing or overfiltering not making me understand what's going on very well; I mean yeah it's epic and all that but there's just too much happening all at once, in a song that's 2:24 minutes.
I would like to not have it fail because of trying something different than usual (a la Germany last year), but I don't have my hopes up 100% high.
I'd be still not minding it winning the Irish NF. My favourite is "Let Me Be the Fire" by Isabella Kearney, but I stand for Ireland trying.

My personal fave tonight was Bambie Thug but probably only because I usually need a bit more time to really get into songs as busy as Go Tobann. This is obv their best choice, even if it ends up somewhere low at least it's something different
Signing off now, see you and the results tomorrow. Sayonara!

Can't wait to see if Ireland chooses the boy band or one of their other candidates
I'm hoping for Go Tobann cause I'd love to have a song submitted with a slight bit of Irish (even if it's satirical)
(nothing against the boy group they're just manufactured by someone known from making boy band groups)
Edit: Go Tobann didn't win but doomsday blues is also pretty good

Bambie Thug won Ireland's NF!! It was my 2nd and honestly one of the best of that absolute mediocre bunch but I'm actually really pleased that they won! Listened to it again and with a good staging I definitely can see Ireland qualifying, it's so much better than what they usually send. Great job Ireland!!

Ireland have voted, and Bambie Thug will be going to Eurovision with Doomsday Blue! Such a great choice – I preferred Go Tobann just based off Studio Cuts but Bambie completely sold me live. I loved the staging and aesthetic, the drama of it all! I also think Bambie Thug sounded good as a vocalist – even though the sound mixing didn’t do anyone any favours tonight – and their stage presence was fanstastic, I could see them eating up the larger Eurovision stage easily. I don’t know what the International Jury was on, but I’m glad that Ireland’s public and jury agreed on this winner. I must say I thought the National Jury vote was absolutely spot on – I would have ranked it the exact same way after all the live performances.
I have no idea what this does for Ireland’s chances at Eurovision in terms of results. I could equally see Doomsday Blue connecting with a captivating, intriguing performance or being very offputting for an average voter – but in the end, I think Ireland should be super proud to send this one. It's a really interesting, unique entry.
#eurovision#esc2024#nf winner#ireland#honestly by the end I think I still liked Go Tobann and Doomsday Blue equally personally#I saw a lot of people disappointed by Go Tobann's performance but I didn't feel that way?#I wasn't expecting perfect vocals and I thought the energy was there#the staging might have been a bit literal but hey you've got three minutes might as well spell out the message#Ailsha did what I expected but Bambie exceeded my expectations which is why I was feeling them slightly more when it game to the vote#but both were great and I'm so glad one of them won!

Let's talk for a second about Bambie Thug though? Like I'm so happy they're here? And in the final even?
I mean, last year, could any of us imagine that Ireland would take such a big risk? Trying something new and sending something a little more artsy, a little more gothic, a trans nonbinary witchy pop icon who can be your angel or your devil? Someone who is so proudly themselves, who is not afraid to play around, who pushes boundaries, and does all of that with the biggest, kindest heart?
They really went above and beyond, Bambie did so much with so little. The Irish broadcaster should see this as an opportunity to revamp the way they see Eurovision and stop being stuck in the 90s - Bambie is the kind of thing Eurovision is looking for now. Ailsha (who came in second place in the selection) is the kind of thing Eurovision is looking for now. More of this! We want more of this!
And oh, seeing Bambie start crying after they qualified, bless their heart. They deserve this. They deserve all the love coming to them. I hope they continue to have the best time, and that the final is just as kind to them!
And honestly if the universe decides to be funny it would be hilarious if they win. Like, awesome hilarious. There are actually so many people I'd love to see winning this year it's the best. Anyway.
CROWN THE WITCH!!!

I NEED Go Tobann to win Eurosong you don't understand. It's celtic rock hyperpop that's mainly in gaeilge, about losing Irish vocabulary and only being able to say very basic things, which is a really interesting message when you consider the context of the irish language being endangered. it's sooo different from anything Ireland has sent before, and would be something new in Eurovision. It's following in the steps of cha cha cha. Of course the live singing and staging will make a big impact but I really hope Ailsha performs well and it goes to eurovision. Genuinely I think this song could finally get Ireland back in the final.

Anyone else watching Eurosong today?
I don't get the hype around Bambie and Ailsha at all and I'm super interested in how such a noisy song as Go Tobann is going to be performed live. Other than that, I have nothing else to do anyways...
