French help needed

I’m almost done with English subtitles for The Chess Player, but there are a handful of lines I’m still having trouble with. I am working from the recent French DVD’s French subtitles, but don’t understand more than a few words of French myself, so I could use the help of someone fluent in both French and English to help me understand what some of the lines mean (we’re talking under 20 WTFy lines of dialogue, not a huge amount). The file is in .srt format (which can be opened in Notepad) and is synced to the rip we have up on here (but it might also be viewable with a DVD on a computer, depending what kind of player you have).

So if you can lend a hand proofreading the subs, do drop me an ask and let me know!

I've seen some folks reblogging old posts from here on @veidtveidtveidt , seemingly just for the gifs, but those often have the link to the old masterpost that no longer works (because Tumblr thinks anything with S*ndsp*ce links is spam). So there's no point in reblogging them because people will just be frustrated by a b0rked link! And I haven't got the time to go back and replace the link on every post, either, so I hope you understand.

If you just want Connie gifs to reblog (which I presume was the whole idea), I suggest you head over to my fannish blog, @aikainkauna , for as many Veidt gifs as you can hope for. I've tagged all of my posts meticulously by film and by actor, so you should be able to find what you're looking for--those exact same gifs at that. Every time I've announced the upload of a film on the masterpost, I've used a gif I've posted on aikainkauna first. So those are much better an option to reblog, rather than a post with text that's now become meaningless.

Edit: if you're new to Tumblr and don't know how to look around for a specific tag on someone's blog, just type this in the address field of your browser:

This is not so much a comment about David and John as it is about Ten and the Master. Deep in my gut, the way RJD wrote them left plenty of room for speculation about the nature of their relationship, and Moffat followed suit. They were bros. But how deep that love went does make the mind reel.

Many thanks @filmforfancy for tagging me! This was such an enjoyable and a rather difficult task to do. I was surprised how many comedy movies found on the list. Finally, here are six films that I could watch any time.

I was talking about that MGS porn with @aikainkauna and she only knows MGS from the shit I post on here and was surprised as I was that it was a straight porno, but more because she didn’t think there were enough MGS women to make it work (like that Avengers porn where they had to add other female superheroes so it wouldn’t just be Natasha getting gangbanged) and now I’m MAD.

Not at aikainkauna, mind you, at MGSV.

Because that’s the only MGS where that’s true! I mean, I don’t know much about women in MG and MG2:SS, other than Gustava, though a Snake/Gustava/Gray Fox sandwich sounds like a good idea. But as for the main series there’s always plenty of women.

MGS? We’ve got Meryl, Sniper Wolf, Mei Ling, and Naomi. MGS2? Fortune, Olga, E.E., and Rosemary. MGS3? The Boss, Eva, and Para-medic. MGS4? Well, to be honest, I still haven’t played MGS4, so I can’t really give my opinion on the BB Squad, but they sure are there, all right. Also Mei Ling, Rosemary, Naomi, and Meryl all return because MGS4 is basically subtitled “We’re Putting The Band Back Together”. And Peace Walker has Strangelove, Paz, Cecile, and Amanda, which is frankly a greater number of important female MSF characters than than there are important male MSF characters, and Kaz even comments on it. Also Eva’s phone-in cameo and The Boss’s possible AI soul.

MGSV has Quiet, and I love Quiet, don’t get me wrong, but who else? Well, a hallucination of Paz, a recording of Strangelove, and the possible AI remnant of The Boss. So, one woman and 3 ghost cameos. That’s pathetic.
