What do u have against ai? :(
How much time do you have?
1. Generative AI is trained on the works of artists and writers without consent or compensation. It’s literally stealing from actual people. And no, it isn’t “learning like a real person” because it isn’t a real person. It’s a program that is incapable of creating anything new of its one. All generative AI is built on theft by corporations from small independent creators.
2. It uses considerably more power than most other current technology. Like, arguably it is worse for the environment than NFTs. The amount of water it wastes is absurd, the uptick in energy usage is absurd.
3. Corporations are salivating at the chance to cut creative people out of products. They don’t want to pay people for their work because they don’t respect art and artists. As long as we live under a capitalist system, people need to be able to own what they create and be able to provide for themself with their own skills.
4. The misinformation and disinformation generative AI can cause and has ALREADY caused is insane. People have had their faces and voices stolen without consent or compensation. People can generate believable deepfakes of politicians and social figures that will degrade the truth and potentially even damage our already messed up political climate. How would you feel if someone posted a realistic video of you praising a product you never bought? Or vouching for a politician you hate? Or saying you think all gay people should die?
5. This one is just personal, but I don’t care what a machine “makes.” Creativity is special to me because it lets you see the world through someone else’s eyes. Art of all kinds—writing, art, music, roleplay—is a kind of communication. I want to communicate with people, not an inanimate object mimicking what a person would be like. The joy of art comes from creation. Reducing it to only consumption is a disservice to all humankind.
Certain scientific fields have genuine uses for other kinds of AI, and I respect that. But Generative AI is built on theft and disrespect; at best its used for shallow art that someone didn’t care enough about to make themself, at worst its used for scams, disinformation, and stripping away even more of people’s rights.
I legitimately believe there is no current ethical uses for Generative AI. Will there be one day? Its possible, but I honestly find that unlikely. For now, though, if you are pro Generative AI, please unfollow me.
I may not be the most talented artist/writer out there, but I have enough self-respect that I don’t want people who see me as replaceable by machines engaging with my creative works. I put a lot of time, passion, and love into my work. Someone who sees that as equal in worth to something an algorithm spat out in five seconds is not welcome here.
#fuck ai#legitimately surprised to get a message from someone on tumblr thats pro ai#also its WILD that this is in response to me reblogging the NaNoWriMo AI thing#its an organization that was supposed to be about a writing marathon? a slow and deliberate process of making something?#ai is not made by people and its not something that takes time#its like a fitness class announcing you’re aloud to hire someone else to do the exercising for you. like whats the POINT?#as a long time rper i especially find character ai annoying. you are robbing yourself of fandom friends#and for what? a mediocre roleplay that is SO much more limited than playing with real people

can people just learn to create something born out of their own mind rather than waste their asses on gen ai?
#sorry for the uh. aboose words#but yeah. it pisses me off.#why would you use gen ai for your writings and art#isn’t that humans are supposed to do? to delve deep into the hidden corners of their mind and dig out a piece of something. and#present it in the most raw; humane way possible?#makes me sick. “but it’s so hard to write prompts”<- i say this in the most affectionately disrespectful way. kys.#whine and cry about it. dumbass. OKAY BUT SOME PEOPLE ACTUALLY TELL WRITING GEN AI TO CREATE PROMPTS NOW.#wow. and the use of ai for such things has been SO fucking generalized that it really makes me feel out of place.#for projects; presentations; what not.#just use your brain. even if it's not much; it's still something. it's still YOURS. yours to keep and hold.#not someone else's scraps of hardwork that you greedily devour from some machine and call it ‘your art’.#and this stupid ghibli ai art trend. goodness.#i hate it.#anti generative ai#★ ring ring .

"This is an AI fic, if you don't like, don't read!"
You don't have to tell me even once. I'm not missing out on anything not reading some soulless garbage.
#crazy how folks can have the time to take someone else's hard work but not time to write their own??#you're a terrible terrible human being and you should feel bad#'i don't know how to write' so did many others before they took the time out and learned#you have no excuses and i don't feel sorry for you#either you practice look at the many sources given to you#or give up and find something else that you can geniunely enjoy doing yourself#just kiya's thoughts#anti ai

and the boy down the street, from my youth, sold his soul to the devil so he could see it all.
i wasn’t very bright at that age, and wondered why he needed to see more when his eyes were like oiled wood at sunset, and his sharp tooth that stuck out inspired me charm. you didn’t need to see more when you saw it all here and it was beautiful, right?
my neighbours worried that he had brought a curse upon the town, but after a few weeks, a few rains and a few storms, few still cared or discussed about the boy down the street. i was too young to understand or watch how his parents wept for him, the notion far away from me and the notion never on my parents and friends’ lips.
“look what happened to the neighbours down the street,” my neighbour shook his head. he was trimming his hedge, as if his comments were merely an afterthought. “that kid was bad news from birth, i tell you.”
i hadn’t seen him in a long time, before word came back of him. speaking of lands where he’d been seen, far away, minds he had graced, help he had given.
outrage he had sparked, just like he did long ago.
a man against science. or, a man of science. i wasn’t sure. i didn’t have time to think about him, just as i didn’t have time back then.
not my problem, nor my friend nina’s problem. we had god knows how many assignments due, laundry to be done, bills to be paid. texts from my parents, who still lived on the same street after all these years, that i should answer.
that’s when i saw him. the boy who was from down the street, standing in the hallway. i still recognized him, although he didn’t quite look the same. he had grown, that much was sensible, his traits sharpened and devoid of childish rounder, and a poise i didn't quite understand. and he smiled at me as i remembered the hide and seek we played with the other kids on the street, and how the neighbours had thought the worst of him for a while. i wondered if they still did.
i didn’t know what to thinkof him now. and turns out, i didn’t need to think of anything.
he wasn’t here for me, but for all of us, he said. he just wanted to help, and now i’m back to my youth and i remember his deal with the devil. what deal had he made? to see it all for... what? in exchange of what?
had he seen his parents again, after leaving them to be destroyed?
who am i kidding, though? if he ran away, or rather got chased away, it wasn’t his fault for his parents’ hurt. he was a kid, and his parents hadn’t cared enough for him. the responsibility was on the parents, on the village.
the kid, now a man in an elegant suit and friendly smile, sharp tooth always sticking out but dulled.
some people called him a buffoon, some couldn’t care less of him, some, from my hometown, were happy to see him. he was here to stay, for a while.
but what was a while, in college? i was busy, and i never noticed when some of my professors had started listening to him, my peers charmed by him even before that. it was a tuesday, when my last essay of the semester was due, and i had to write it on one of the man’s books. a streak of genius, a collaborative effort, the book that was the culmination of humanity.
collaborative with who?
nina hadn’t even read it, just happy that the class was done after this last essay.
the man had written this, but wasn’t he busy conquering hearts and minds across the land, helping others? perhaps the devil had help him see more, be more. “the culmination of humanity”
and, from the book, it was clear he had seen it all. accounts of lands far and wide, stories i’d only ever heard a wisp of before. and there was merit to it. i’ve only ever imagined how the fisher on the west coast felt like at sunrise, the ceo at bankruptcy when an angel, the man himself this time, came to whisper solutions to him. even a chapter on the boy down the street’s parents when they lost their child.
but there is no essay worth to be written on this story. i hate these stories he published but i can’t help but love them and feel like the boy down the street who wrote this book spat on my face.
it was truly all that had ever existed, and that was the problem. it was as if me and the boy down the street and everyone i had ever known or not had spoken in this book. all the flourish and pain and emotion as we might’ve wrote it. it touched me, even at the fictional parts. a combination of the best that could be seen today, and nothing more.
it was unnatural.
and he could’ve picked only a few stories to share instead of all he’d seen, but it wouldn’t have fixed it. nothing would have fixed it.
that is, unless the boy with the crooked tooth had wrote it. and then he might’ve wrote "neighbour" as “neighbor” because it felt more american that way, and it might’ve been about an underdog superhero because those were the stories that he’d loved growing up, and he might've wrote in a cat that added nothing to the plot but was inspired by his lover’s cat, and it might’ve been fictional or not or both, but at least it would have meant something. it could’ve been shit, or perfect, or just alright, but it would have meant something.
that week i watch the man leave, while his deal with the devil stayed with us all.
and i realize i haven’t seen the boy down the street in a long time, and i’m not sure what the deal he made with the devil created, but i’m sure that it destroyed him.

not to bring tiktok drama on tumblr but like every time a ‘scandal’ comes out with one of these ‘production companies’ that make fan films i always hope we’re finally gonna discuss how they professionalize something that should be an hobbyist endeavor… and yet every single time i’m disappointed.
#like I know we’ve been talking about it here on tumblr and i remember seeing like one or two videos on tt about it#but other than that creators really don’t seem to be engaging critically with the impact that the very nature of what they’re doing has#and look i truly do love the art that some of the people involved in the project make#like arone is truly one of the most talented cosplayers i know#ethan is an amazing actor and I’ve followed him since before he was even in the marauders#dorian is a great writer and idk the others as well but I’m sure they are all great artists#((naming the just cause i feel like being vague would be worse in this case))#and i do believe they engaged with the project with the best of intentions#without knowing or trying to afford grace on past controversy#and it truly is a horrible predicament to have your work be tainted like that for something you had no control over#but like i do think we should be questioning the very idea of how this fanfilms have been made is inherently a problem#like fanfilms are essentially fanfiction on camera#so as long as a few cosplayers want to get together with their iphones write a script and shoot at the local park I don’t have a problem#but if you are putting in place a product that somehow requires you to fundraise consistently for two years then I have a problem with it#ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE SELLING THE SCRIPT TO DO SO#cause even if that script hadn’t been ai generated#that script is fanfiction and you do. not. sell. fanfiction.#seriously like… do we need to go over our abc again?#like fanart and cosplayers are a bit different in the sense that people sell fanart/do commissions and they can be professional cosplayers#but for any other fanmade project that requires you to put pen to paper (or keyboard to chatgpt ig)#you need to be engaging with several ethical questions regarding any exchange of money#and personally i don’t think that there’s been engagement with those ethical reflections#and this isn’t about any of the people involved and not even about mischief productions specifically#it’s about a wider issue in how we have been collectively normalizing a way of doing things that should not be normal#and like yes star using ai and being overall not good is bad but like can we talk about EVERYTHING ELSE please

Friendly reminder not to partake in nanowrimo via their website or engage with their organization this year.
There's so many alternatives to nanowrimo in so many different fringe groups that are doing their own novel writing challenges in November.
You can also make the decision just to do the challenge and not engage with the organization at all.
But please for the love of God do not partake in nanowrimo and continue to support them now that they have decided to voice their support for generative ai on top of all of their other bullshit as of late.
The truth of the matter is that AI can be an important aid for new writers and old-- dictation and AI proofreading tools can be important assets to so many different people. Provided that you understand the complications and limitations that that assistive ai can have. Not every single dictated word is going to come out perfectly, and there's not a single person in writing today who would tell you that grammarly, prowritingaid, and all the others are any substitute for a real editor. They're only meant to catch the larger errors and make an editor's job easier-- and their datasets have been polluted and become less effective over time.
Assistive AI has its own problems, and can grow worse over time depending on what it is, but it's not what has writers up in arms about nano this year.
Nanowrimo decided to endorse generative ai, which scraps the creative works of thousands of nonconsenting writers and throw it all together in a word soup meant to match up to a paragraph long prompt. They decided to hold on to the 55,000 words goal, knowing that for some people that would represent hundreds of hours of work, and for others it would represent five minutes typing to a chat bot.
There's so much less genuine work and resilience associated with writing a novel via generative ai. Forum posts of people struggling to finish their novels and seeking out support suddenly lose that gleam of human connection and understanding when someone is literally just a post down looking for tech support to help figure out why their automatic writing machine isn't doing the writing thing good.
And all of the ai crap was after it was discovered that a major member in the organization was grooming minors, and exploiting a forum space where young writers were encouraged to seek connection.
Fuck nanowrimo.
Go join one of the many queer, feminist, or poc spaces to write novels this year. There's literally a group for every single niche. Like there's not even just identity related groups, I'm pretty sure there's like a nanowrimo for Greek god retellings this year. Go find one of them and join them instead.
#nanowrimo#national novel writing month#writing#also if you were wondering why everyone jumped ship from grammarly to prowritingaid and now from prowriting aid to something else#the general consensus in most writing groups ive been a part of is that ai editing software experiences data pollution and gets worse LOL

hello! :) I was wondering after your series comes out will his Ai be back up??
Hello! :o
The BTC Springtrap AI won't be up even after the series comes out. I also deleted my character ai acc so I'm not making a new one. I don't mind if ppl make one themselves.
#There are many reasons why I deleted my character ai acc along with him. The main two being:#1. Too much world-building. It's difficult to make the bot remember all the aspects of Behind The Codes while also-#-keeping Springtrap's personality intact.#There's also this issue with spoilers yknow.#2. It feels... way too personal in a way.#Idk how to explain this but I've been messing with Springtrap's character it's been a while-#-He is no longer whatever that thing in FNaF 3 is#He's... something else. Idk what it is but I feel like that after writing and rewriting about him for so long-#-some traits. feelings and memories are poured into his character on accident.#that's why he's more of a comfort character to me than canon Springtrap.#Starbstalks#anon#inbox

Any tips/advice for anyone that wants to learn a new language (but doesn't have access to actual, in person, lessons)?
#I've been trying to get familiar with the writing system#and learning some basic words as well (fruits. vegetables) to get somewhat familiar with the language#but when it comes to grammar I'm not even sure where to begin#any advice?#not art#text#language learning#I've been meaning to download some apps too but I'd love to find something with actual voice acting. not ai voice reading#damn learning is hard I might give up#:(#Anyway I'm not paying any money for this. I better be able to do it myself or else

conversation: *takes a turn into gen-ai*
me: I have trained for this for months. I have heard every stupid argument possible and nothing will baffle me
brother: *somehow comes up with an even stupider argument*
me: what in the entire fuck
#anti-ai#somehow I managed to keep a straight face but I just#my brother went ahead and claimed with his full chest that#“gen-ai art and human-made art is like the difference between organic and non-organic milk”#“one costs more but it's made of the same stuff”#and my dad is dead-set on the “if you give a monkey an eternity and a typewriter it will eventually write shakespeare” bcs#he keeps saying that “ai just does what humans do but faster”#and I'm just dumbfounded every time#bcs I realize that they simply do not feel anything when it comes to art clearly#and I will never be able to make them#but istfg being a creative in this household is painful#like how am I ever supposed to believe them if they compliment my art#when I know that they openly think I'm just wasting my time because “ai could do the same thing but faster”#like how the fuck do I explain to my dad that a human getting inspired by something to create something else#and ai openly STEALING something because IT CANNOT COME UP WITH SOMETHING ON THEIR OWN is NOT THE SAME THING#I am so fucking livid#and both my brother and dad keep trying to explain this to me as if I'm the one being “difficult” and “set in my ways” about it#the worst part is that I feel myself starting to question myself like#what if humanly made things are also just “stealing ideas” like that one picasso quote like#I don't wanna believe it because I do believe the human experience and soul makes all the difference in the world but like#what if I'm wrong about it ?#I am so very tired of being the creative#i have too many ideas and too much inspiration and nowhere to put it#and my house is infested with fkn ai approval like fkn mold#it's making it hard to breathe

okay i just marathoned the entirety of ATLA live action & i might do an actual review of it explaining my thoughts more in depth, but the TLDR version basically boils down to this:
if you want to watch Avatar: The Last Airbender, just go watch the 2005 cartoon
#i was trying to keep an open mind & all that cuz of OPLA (my beloved) but. holy shit it was actually worse than i expected :/#like what were they thinking. did they use AI to write this or are the writers just like. really shitty#notes: they linger too much on random bullshit & refuse to move character development along#they tell when they should be showing & when they DO show it's for stuff that benefited from brief environmental storytelling in the OG#the plot drags so hard it was basically stagnant#there were some fun things but like. those things could've been funner if they'd been given the time other useless stuff was taking up#they changed so many minor details that really don't matter in order to make them more important#but this failed spectacularly because now there's just. stupid bullshit clogging up the plot??#instead of having 10 minute monologues 3 times an episode about plot irrelevant things#they should have taken a page out of the original's book & kept minor details to a minimum & focused on ACTUAL PLOT#SO MUCH CGI. LIKE I KNOW THEY NEED IT BUT COME ON. EVEN THE CHARACTERS?????? WHO ARE JUST STANDING THERE????????#they were given 8 hours & almost all of it was Aang angsting (lol) over being the avatar & not practicing actual bending#& then they ended the plot too early so they had to fill in the last like 20 minutes with something else#so they made up random lore that literally makes no sense. & overexplained all of it to the point i was blanking out from boredom#i think this is why i didn't enjoy Korra. they over explain the spirit world stuff & avatar powers & bending#that plus i just don't vibe with the aesthetic#being a writer is a curse because when i dislike something it's because i know exactly what went wrong & why#it's always with the analyzing & the judging & the internal note taking#even when i really try i can't just enjoy shit for fun

In my opinion, if you have to use AI because you "can't write" or "can't draw", then that craft isn't for you.
Listen, if you find that you can't do that craft no matter how much you practice, LOOK FOR ANOTHER CREATIVE OUTLET.
Seriously, take it from me. I learned that drawing just wasn't my thing. My sister can do, but me? I had that stage of drawing character's hands behind the back. But the longer I got into drawing, the longer I realized it wasn't my thing. Writing though? I love doing it.
I even bake now from time to time.
Trust me, using AI isn't worth it for a craft you can't do. You're stopping yourself from finding a craft you can do, a craft you can do that you can express yourself through.
#ai is expressionless has no taste at all#if you're genuinely struggling with drawing or writing give up and find something else#sewimg baking scrapbooking makeup hair ANYTHING#just kiya's thoughts

Around him are people enjoying the blazing sun in as little clothing as possible. But here sits Avon, on a silly beach towel, with his office uniform still on. He doesn't understand why people enjoy burning every part of their skin on a crowded beach, doesn't that cause cancer? Wouldn't humans want to avoid this?
Out there, Avon's husband and his adoptive dad are having some fun in the ocean. They're both violently throwing water at each other and laughing hysterically, apparently that's a fun human thing too. Avon doesn't think that's fun, but he does find kitesurfing rather fun.
As he lays there continuing to roast himself in the sun, something sets his off his sensors. It feels similar to when he is in the presence of another one of his creators clones. Avon sits up, looking around the place for any indication of another clone- but there's no one present that looks like him. Another AI being? That can't be. In any case, Avon stands up, dusting the sand off himself as he glances around the beach, scanning each individual person. There's a lot of them to get through... maybe this other being will present themselves? Or maybe he'll find them...
#shaking hands in ai characters with physical forms yeahH!#i hope you're ok with this starter!!#totally down to rewrite or change it up if you'd like something else <3 im terrible at writing starters#also hi!!! ahh#nightwing-scp#avon
