Listening to a pretty damn new (like account started uploading only this year) true crime / “disturbing media” YouTube channel and feeling insane for thinking they sound exactly like, and have a similar-ish editing style, to Rob Gavagan (who I’m also learning was apparently a creep)

Someone once told me in the comments that they can’t draw because it always turns out like crap.
Boi, have you seen my blog??? Look how often my artstyle changes every couple months, sometimes it’s inconsistent but there is improvement. And again, it’s only a couple of months difference, so it’s often jarring for some if you know where you’re looking!
Not to mention of the unfinished doodles and sketches y’all don’t get to see posted publicly. It’s also sort of one of the reason why I don’t post often cuz I feel like my art isn’t good enough, other than being lazy or irl stuff
So if you think your drawings are like crap now when you only just started, OF COURSE it’s going to look like that, mate! You just started!
But if you think your drawings still look like crap after years of drawing, question yourself how much actual effort you put into that drawing:
Did you look at references? Either it posing or inspo?
Follow art tutorials! In today’s modern use of internet, you can find free art lessons online
Take the time to sit down and practice what you have learned? Even doodling and unfinished sketches help a lot if you’re short on time! I’m literally an example of this lol
I fear that this user will think that artists are gatekeepers and end up using AI, but seriously isn’t the case and it shouldn’t be.
And it has to be said, please don’t compare your art with others, we all started from somewhere. Don’t expect yourself to reach the same skill level as someone who has years of practice or had the resources to learn art early on.
Art, as everyone knows the quote by now, is subjective, but it only just comes down to how much you’re willing to practice on!
- CJ the Opossum
Sorry for the rant, was just reminded of the user’s comment when looking at my old doodles. So here is a little bonus if you stayed and read. If not, at least something worthwhile

The thing about generative AI is that the technology is super useful for recognizing patterns and has been used by scientists for things like detecting cancer cells and other amazing breakthroughs in science. However this technology is smart, yes, but only when it comes to recognizing patterns. In reality, what it can't fully comprehend is creative works due to the widely different patterns in each work. For example, artists who draw realism still have vastly different styles. Another example outside of style being lighting. It can recognize that pieces use lighting but because it varies so much with each piece, it doesn't fully understand how to apply it. The same applies to writing and other creative practices, they're all too different.
TLRD; Instead of developing new technology or expanding in existing technology to be assistants to creatives (including developing affordable technology for disabled creatives to use) these companies are forcing scientific technology to recognize patterns in something it can't. They're too lazy to sit down and actually teach AI the nuances behind creativity, so they scrape as much data as they can to force it to create something passable.
basically lol

I’m in undergrad but I keep hearing and seeing people talking about using chatgpt for their schoolwork and it makes me want to rip my hair out lol. Like even the “radical” anti-chatgpt ones are like “Oh yea it’s only good for outlines I’d never use it for my actual essay.” You’re using it for OUTLINES????? That’s the easy part!! I can’t wait to get to grad school and hopefully be surrounded by people who actually want to be there 😭😭😭
Not to sound COMPLETELY like a grumpy old codger (although lbr, I am), but I think this whole AI craze is the obvious result of an education system that prizes "teaching for the test" as the most important thing, wherein there are Obvious Correct Answers that if you select them, pass the standardized test and etc etc mean you are now Educated. So if there's a machine that can theoretically pick the correct answers for you by recombining existing data without the hard part of going through and individually assessing and compiling it yourself, Win!
... but of course, that's not the way it works at all, because AI is shown to create misleading, nonsensical, or flat-out dangerously incorrect information in every field it's applied to, and the errors are spotted as soon as an actual human subject expert takes the time to read it closely. Not to go completely KIDS THESE DAYS ARE JUST LAZY AND DONT WANT TO WORK, since finding a clever way to cheat on your schoolwork is one of those human instincts likewise old as time and has evolved according to tools, technology, and educational philosophy just like everything else, but I think there's an especial fear of Being Wrong that drives the recourse to AI (and this is likewise a result of an educational system that only prioritizes passing standardized tests as the sole measure of competence). It's hard to sort through competing sources and form a judgment and write it up in a comprehensive way, and if you do it wrong, you might get a Bad Grade! (The irony being, of course, that AI will *not* get you a good grade and will be marked even lower if your teachers catch it, which they will, whether by recognizing that it's nonsense or running it through a software platform like Turnitin, which is adding AI detection tools to its usual plagiarism checkers.)
We obviously see this mindset on social media, where Being Wrong can get you dogpiled and/or excluded from your peer groups, so it's even more important in the minds of anxious undergrads that they aren't Wrong. But yeah, AI produces nonsense, it is an open waste of your tuition dollars that are supposed to help you develop these independent college-level analytical and critical thinking skills that are very different from just checking exam boxes, and relying on it is not going to help anyone build those skills in the long term (and is frankly a big reason that we're in this mess with an entire generation being raised with zero critical thinking skills at the exact moment it's more crucial than ever that they have them). I am mildly hopeful that the AI craze will go bust just like crypto as soon as the main platforms either run out of startup funding or get sued into oblivion for plagiarism, but frankly, not soon enough, there will be some replacement for it, and that doesn't mean we will stop having to deal with fake news and fake information generated by a machine and/or people who can't be arsed to actually learn the skills and abilities they are paying good money to acquire. Which doesn't make sense to me, but hey.
So: Yes. This. I feel you and you have my deepest sympathies. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to sit on the porch in my quilt-draped rocking chair and shout at kids to get off my lawn.

GET TO KNOW YOUR MUTUALS
Tagged by: Thank you @desertfangs for tagging me! ❤️
What’s the origin of your username?: I have no reason for it, really. Other than that  I wanted to pick a Finnish username and thought this was funny. It’s just a platypus pun! 😆 Platypus in Finnish is “vesinokkaeläin”, which translates to “water beak animal”. I changed the first word to “tuli” so it now means “fire beak animal”.  :DD
OTP(s) + ship name:  Oh no…I love many ships and don’t really dislike any, so.
Marius ships?? Marius/Daniel, Marius/Armand, Marius/Lestat, Marius/Armand/Daniel, Marius/Armand/Lestat. Also...Armand/Daniel, Lestat/David, Lestat/David/Louis, uhhhh of course Lestat/Louis and Lestat/Armand, Armand/Louis, Lestat/Louis/Armand…..hmm Jesse/Mael, Mael/Marius….etc.
I almost never use the ship names, who knows what they all are! xD
Favorite color: Red & dark green
Song stuck in your head: Miina by Vilma Jää (I’ve really been loving her lately, it’s Finnish ethno pop)
Weirdest habit/trait: Hmm, I don’t know, having little dance parties by myself in elevators? But how am I to know if other people also do this? 😆
Hobbies: Tabletop role-playing games, board games, video games, reading, and hey, I’ve been drawing for almost six months now! Having a hobby where I get to create something has definitely been so good for me!
If you work, what’s your profession?: University administration. Doesn’t have anything to do with my degree but I don’t want to search for new jobs right now…
If you could have any job you wish, what would it be?:  When I was a child I wanted to be a person whose job would be only to pet animals all day. I think I’d still like that.
Something you’re good at: Hmm, at least I’m NOT good at thinking of anything when someone asks. 😂 I’m an ok baker!
Something you hate: AI art…
Something you collect: Books, dice, Moomin mugs (I didn’t buy a single one myself, they just are a very common gift lol)
Something you forget: Always forget my food or drinks in my friend’s fridges.
What’s your love language?: I’m not very familiar with this theory…how would I choose just one. So I won't!
Favorite movie/show:  I’m bad at picking favorites…Most recently I’ve been watching Severance & Twin Peaks, and I’m loving them! Hmm, I also like Fargo, Black Sails, Hannibal, Community, Over the Garden Wall, True Detective, Arcane, Haunting of the Hill House, Midnight Mass & Dropout shows like Game Changer. Some anime, and other things I’m 100% certainly forgetting now!!
I don’t know about a fave movie either…I like The Lord of the Rings movies, Robert Egger’s movies, Ghibli animation, Interstellar, Hereditary,  Star Wars, Alien, Labyrinth….many other things…xD
Favorite food: Let’s say avocado pasta or grilled mushrooms stuffed with cheese
Favorite animal: Seals! And puffins!
What were you like as a child?: I think I was a pretty outgoing kid that got along well with everybody, but then I got social anxiety :D
Favorite subject at school: Psychology, literature, English as a foreign language
Least favorite subject: Physics and chemistry
What’s your best character trait?: I can be depended on to help & really like helping people! Let me carry your stuff when you’re moving, I demand it!!! 😂
What’s your worst character trait?: Procrastination….nowadays it’s just hard for me to do anything unless I have a deadline set by someone else. Bottling my feelings and worries instead of expressing them, even when I know it would be better for me to talk about them.
If you could travel in time, who would you like to meet: Because of social anxiety, it would be a horror for me to meet any celebrities or famous people. I’d just go meet myself in the past and we’d both be equally awkward. 🤝
Tagging: I'm not sure at all who's already been tagged but I'm bravely tagging some people that maybe have not been? No pressure! @wretcheddoll @littleshopofflorrors @ladyvampir3 @half-as-big-as-life @bunnnster and everybody who wants to do it 😄

I dont think people can tell as well as they think they can whether art or writing was generated with ai. I think it's confirmation bias where things that are obviously ai are bad and unconvincing so the other stuff flies under their radar. or they assume ai has a specific style or flaws they can identify which results in actual artists being targeted because their art or writing "looks ai".
I totally think that is sometimes true too!! I have seen a lot of hay made about "if it uses the word 'delve' it's AI-generated" which makes me laugh because I feel like that is such a standard word to use. Especially by those of us who work in corporate 😒😒😒 lol.
Unfortunately I think it can be hard to pin down at times exactly as you say; AI-generated content is not necessarily always going to be "bad"; it's basically one humungous stat model which means all it is is a statistically likely configuration of words/image fragments etc. That's why it can sound generic at times but generic or common as we know does not mean "bad". And that's why sometimes even human-created art or writing gets labeled as "AI-generated" when it's just like, visually/textually familiar somehow!!
I also think much of what "passes" so to speak is stuff that is AI-generated but has been post-processed a little to hide visual or textual cues that are commonly associated with LLM-authored content. And those are, to me, almost impossible to detect since they have seen the touch of a human hand (however light). I wonder if we will ever be able to detect those cases beyond just like, a vibe.
Idk!! It's such a complex question tbh and so interesting to discuss. I wish I had more answers, but pretty much nobody does in a space as new as this.

Feel free to completely ignore this if you've already answered it or something but!! I was wondering what your process is for developing AUs? Specifically for something like Bad Masters where you have this compelling world building and then fold into it complex relationships and dynamics and tropes etc etc I just loveeeee it and wanna pick your brain. thank you have a good day
i'm so glad you enjoy my AUs so much! honestly, I have a lot of experience writing original stories, so writing AUs feels very natural to me. when it comes to fanfic, i treat the characters like lab rats that i'm plopping into a new environment just to observe how they respond to said new environment.
i really like the planning stage of writing. i love going on my little dog walks, listening to the story playlists I've made, and thinking my little thoughts. it's so satisfying when an idea comes together in my head and inspires me to the point that i want to start writing RIGHT AWAY (which is probably why i have so many ongoing fics... new ideas steal my attention, rip)
i'm also not above admitting that i get tons of inspiration from other forms of media. i watch a LOT of movies and tv shows, play videogames, and read things that get my creative juices bubbling. hell, i watched a movie TRAILER that got me thinking new AU thoughts. I read the first chapter of a book, liked the setting, and immediately wrote 40k words of a fic set in a similar setting with a plot that's completely unrelated to the book that inspired me. (i think? i never continued reading after that first chapter so who knows what it's actually about lol i read 5 pages about a snowy mountain lodge and ran away with it)
For Bad Masters specifically, I think i was in the middle of a Futurama rewatch while writing, so i decided to make it futuristic. Bender and his robo puppy in Fry's dead dog episode probably inspired Amaya, though I def took her a complete different direction than my initial plans.
since my stories are more character focused, i try not to get too bogged down with the setting. i don't want to get stuck over explaining everything that makes the setting different from regular reality. and i know readers don't want to waste time READING a long explanation about the world. i also hate writing description, which limits me when it comes to establishing a unique setting. so i try to instead naturally include enough small details to give the reader an impression of what the world is like in a very normal, natural way, as if there's nothing strange and different about it.
instead of flat out explaining the state of things, i just plop some stuff in there every once in a while for readers to either care about or not. the People's Revolution of 2036 is mentioned but not gone into detail about because it's not important to the story. it's a thing that happened a few hundred years ago, no biggie. sure, it catapulted the world into what it is now, with the death of billionaires (at least domestically) and definitive action FINALLY taken to reverse climate change, but it's not important to Daichi and Suga falling in love, so we're not dwelling on that.
i didn't want the future setting to be TOO much, requiring way more effort to describe and explain things. so yeah, a lot is the same. they've got AI service animals, a light pollution curfew, safety fields around balconies, machines that give users the ability to feel things remotely, and street cleaning robots to sweep up all the extra pollen from new green corridors created to protect against climate change. but they also still use personal cell phones, the fashion cycle has come full circle and brought things we wear today back into fashion (though i do believe hoodies and sweatpants will never truly go out of fashion), and people have to deal with targeted advertisements, just now using more advanced emotion detection AI to better sell you shit you don't need.
It's not a utopia, but it's not dystopian either. there's good and bad, just like in our time right now. it makes it easier for me to write, but also easier to read and absorb.
and i feel like simplicity is really important when establishing an AU. you can't overwhelm the reader. i remember once trying to read a book back when i was a teenager and the first few pages were nothing but description of the setting. to the tiniest details like the types of plants that grow in the area and how they're used to make salves/etc. Despite being a voracious reader, finishing a book every few days, those few pages felt like hundreds. it was too much. i was so bored. i never finished the book.
there's this urge to explain EVERYTHING when you start an AU with what you feel is a super interesting setting/scenario. and as someone who has a problem over explaining already, it's like pulling off my fingernails trying to keep it casual and subtle. but it's super vital to learn patience and the art of revealing things gradually, as the story progresses. and the strength to eliminate excess information that just doesn't fit. like, i have a whole backstory thought up about Daichi's ancestor, Sawamura Kanae, who took control of Japan during the People's Revolution of 2036, but it probably won't make it into the story itself because it's not important, and would feel totally unnecessary and random to just stuff in there.
When it comes to writing AUs, know and understand your AU more than you actually intend to share. that way you can write little throwaway lines or references in ways that make the setting feel fleshed out without wasting time explaining every little unimportant detail. it's okay for your reader to wonder about stuff. it's okay if they don't know everything. if they come to your inbox and ask, hey, you got some fun little bonus information for them, but didn't have to sacrifice the flow of the story to give it.
remind the reader about the universe through small details. for Bad Masters, when things start to feel too mundane, I toss in mention of a robot or some other futuristic technology. it's simple. low effort. readers are smart, and they have their own imaginations that will fill in the blanks far better than your excessive description ever could.
i may not be very good at cutting out unnecessary dialogue, but i AM a master at leaving out unnecessary description. sometimes to my detriment, lmao
in the end though, have fun with it! i have so much fun coming up with AUs. I love fleshing out a world and coming up with rules. if you ain't havin fun, you aint doin it right!
ok idk if this is actually helpful, but there you go! don't worry about doing it well, just do it and have a blast while you do. writing is fun, from the planning to the sharing stage and don't ever forget it! if it stops being fun, you need to take a break. don't suffer for your art. make art to ease your suffering 😉🖤🌈

Kouri’s year in review, a thing I’ve always done and definitely didn’t make up out of nowhere in an attempt to do an autopsy of how I watched so much fucking TV this year and didn’t end up with a new hyperfixation despite my best efforts.
All ratings are based solely on my personal opinion of these shows, I'm not a licensed critic and I don't even play one on TV. Shows listed in no particular order. Shows with an asterisk have a canon LGBT character, two asterisks indicate an onscreen, confirmed, reciprocal LGBT relationship. These are not shows that necessarily came out in 2024, only shows I watched (or tried to watch) in 2024.
tl;dr favorite show I watched this year: The Double, favorite BL pairing this year: Ruan Lanzhu/Ling Jiushu from The Spirealm, favorite character of the year: Ai Di from Kiseki: Dear to Me, shows I felt an urge to create fanfic for: somehow zero. Send help.
Reset - C-drama - a show I watched on a whim after seeing it referenced, like, once, somewhere on tumblr. Time loop bus explosion! Actually quite good. I’m not normally a huge fan of time loops but this one was very well done and more of a murder mystery that they were solving as the murders took place. Interesting characters (the cat apostle owns my whole heart even if I don’t remember his name) and fairly well paced. The leads were cute together. 8/10.
*Ready Set Love - Thai Drama - dystopian fic where there are hardly any men in the world and women compete to marry them on a live dating show. Really interesting concept but fell a little flat when it came to exploring the implications of said concept. Likable characters and fun to watch. 7/10.
**Love Sea - Thai Drama - two guys meet on an island and fuck about it. //sigh// I’m sorry but this show was just. Bad. FortPeat’s chemistry carried this whole thing and made it watchable but that doesn’t make up for the fact that it was poorly written, poorly paced, had inconsistent characterization, and the villain honestly made no sense. Is he a diabolical sociopath or is he just a fucking loser? He cannot be both. 4/10 and at least two of those points are awarded to Fort and Peat for just being so much fun to watch.
The Double - c-drama - this was hands down the best show I watched this year. Imperial era political intrigue thriller plus romance. Interesting characters and amazing chemistry from the two leads. Great villains. Probably my only complaint about this show (beyond the last 10 minutes pulling a weird ending out of nowhere) was how obsessed it was with facial close-ups. I mean, I get it, they were trying to do something there, but it felt so weird to me haha. Anyway 8.5/10.
*Dead Boy Detectives - American - exactly what it says on the label; dead boys are detectives. This was a fun little show. Great characters and interesting mysteries. I’m really sad it won’t get a season two even though I completely understand and support why. What the fuck was up with that guy in the whale? Was he God? 7.5/10.
Oh No! Here Comes Trouble - Taiwanese drama - teenager with survivor’s guilt gets supernatural powers and wishes they would leave him alone. A fun romp. I really liked the fact that he wasn’t dealing with ‘ghosts’ but with supernatural manifestations of people’s obsessive emotions. It put an interesting spin on the genre. Would love a season two of this one. 8/10.
The Spirealm - c-drama - Video game that kills people who play it! Very gay even though it’s not allowed to be explicitly gay. Loved the first half. Each world was interesting, the characters were super fun. It started to lose me when main characters started dying off and then really unraveled at the end. I still literally have no idea what happened in the last episode LOL. First 26 episodes get 8.5/10, remainder gets 5/10. Make of that what you will.
**Kiseki: Dear to Me - Taiwanese drama - You know what, I’m not sure how to summarize this show because it couldn’t decide if it wanted to be a rom-com or a drama/thriller and so in the end, did not do a great job being either. Good characters but what even was happening? And by ‘good characters’ I mainly mean ‘Ai Di, a terrible little feral gremlin, is hilariously awesome, and everyone else was just kind of there’. 6/10 plus a point just for Ai Di comes out to 7/10.
**Only Friends - Thai drama - a group of college friends are messy bitches for 12 episodes. If you enjoy characters being messy bitches, you will like this show! I have to be honest, I watched it for FirstKhao and disliked both the other major pairings (and honestly, only Khao could have made Ray a tolerable character, in a lesser actor’s hands I would have hated him too). The abridged version which is basically just their characters gets about a 7/10 from me. Everything else is 3/10.
Mysterious Lotus Casebook - c-drama - unhinged trio wanders the jianghu solving crimes. Oh man, I really wanted to love this show. I wanted it to be my new hyperfixation. And I did enjoy it very much, particularly Fang Duobing, who’s my blorbo. But I couldn’t make heads or tails out of a lot of the mysteries, and most of them were ‘solved’ just by Li Lianhua explaining a bunch of stuff the audience couldn’t have known. It was a well-put-together show but for some reason it just didn’t grab me. 8/10.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians - American - I forgot that I had watched this so uhhhhh make of that what you will. To be fair, I’m probably not the target audience. It was cute but I don’t have much else to say about it. 6/10 but again, not the target audience.
Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead - Anime - man with terrible job wakes up in the zombie apocalypse and decides to live life to the fullest until he gets zombified. Cute and surprisingly emotional at points despite being kind of silly on the face of it. Will definitely watch season 2. 8/10
SHOWS I DID NOT FINISH
The Good Detective - K-drama - I was enjoying it but realized it was going to piss me off if [spoiler] happened so I spoiled myself and stopped watching. Sorry but I don’t vibe with shows that revolve around preventing a certain unjust event but then have that unjust event happen. Major bummer.
**Meet You at the Blossom - Thai/Chinese drama - couldn’t get past episode 4. The two main characters were just really obnoxious in my personal opinion. I love a himbo but found JXB to be less ‘himbo’ and more ‘purposefully oblivious because that let him get what he wanted’ which typically made life difficult for everyone around him. The other character whose name I don’t remember was like, what if tsundere managed to be uninteresting.
**PitBabe - Thai drama - Affectionately, what the fuck was this show. I can handle weirdness, but this show was just . . . kind of fucking stupid lmao. Could not finish and from what I’ve seen about the show since, I’m glad I quit when I did.

im a computer scientist. i dont usually mess with AI stuff (and my god do i hate that term. its all A and no I. i just call them Models or ML Models. MLM if you will lol) but i have made them before for college classes, and studied them during this slop boom we've had.
youre absolutely right. they are a tool capable of much good, and much evil. like a knife, or hammer. yeah it can be used to stab or smash someone, but it can also be used to cut fruit and bread, or bonk a nail to secure a board. what we have is an epidemic of the former for Models, where people are using it in a bad way to create slop or porn from stolen content and other nonconsenual means. or terrible assistants no one wants.
but ive seen the other side. ive seen Models used for much more impressive things. medical diagnostics, where they can find cancerous growths before any human notices them. defect detection, where they can scan thousands of items and notice manufacturing errors in them and note that theyre unsafe for use/consumption/whatever. even generative Models, like the photoshop tools you mentioned, which gives artists a weird new brush to work with.
once again, the problem is not with the tools themselves, but with the people and corporations using them for profit. they steal what isnt theirs and use it to make a shitty machine that makes bad stuff in massive volumes to turn a quick buck or threaten other people, and they can do it because they have power and authority. and because capitalism is crumbling and this is one of the last straws theyre grasping at.
sorry for the rant. youve touched on something im really passionate about lol. some people dont understand the fullness of this topic and make quick judgements, but thats okay, i love them anyway. i love everyone here. yall deserve to know the full story of AI, and hopefully we've both shed some light on it. always research stuff you arent sure about, and stay curious!
I love when people who Know Things™ add great info to my rants! I'm just an old bitch out here stacking soapboxes, so I deeply appreciate your input! 💜

today on "Ai takes with practically no audience":
I think Beyond Birthday (a major character from Death Note spinoff LN "Death Note: Another Note") is kind of the perfect thematic mirror to Kosane Kiriha (major character from Madoka Magica spinoff LN "Null Magical Girl") when you think about it.
not many people are familiar with both of those things I would think, but I can try to explain this comparison:
(cw: suicide mention + major spoilers for both LNs under the cut)
some obvious key similarities:
starting with the obvious: BB is born with Shinigami Eyes whereas Kosane has Incubator/Kyubey cells in place of her brain. (Which, like. if you are familiar with both DN and PMMM you'd know that Shinigamis and Incubators arguably play comparable roles, and they are both the Mephistopheles archetype.)
NMG (Null Magical Girl) starts by describing itself as the "story of a crime". Another Note/LABB is of course about a spree murder case - and thus, also the "story of a crime".
Specifically, both features a locked-room murder (suicide) where it is eventually revealed that the detective, the victim, and the culprit are one and the same: they're all Kosane and BB respectively.
(For minor points, they're both kinda weirdos [affectionate], there is like doppelganger-related business related to both of them, etc.)
moving onto the thematic aspects:
Thematically, it is very relevant that there are predetermined lifespans that cannot be defied.
In Kosane's case, her story is actually the story of a girl facing unemployment during the Covid19 pandemic, who eventually finds out she will inevitably die "in the locked room of 2021" through suicide, and who is trying again and again and again to save herself from the "locked room murder" where she is the culprit, the investigator and the victim alike. She has failed this again and again, but she is still trying.
In Beyond's case, his "locked room murder (suicide)" is an attempt to kill himself. He has also similarly failed in what he's set up to do, but by not dying instead of dying, unlike Kosane.
Now this depends on how you interpret him of course, but to me, I believe his plan to create his own death into an unsolvable murder is, arguably, also an attempt or experiment to take his own fate into his own hands (i.e. in a sense, to defy fate), as well. Like, his own lifespan is probably the only one he cannot see, so Beyond might want to test out if he alone has free will in a sense.
In that case, he is really a mirror to Kosane in how they both attempt to and fail to defy their fate, etc
....yeah. If that makes any sense lol

As someone who is an avid enjoyer of dc x reader fics, especially batfam content, I have been seeing this one user post about authors in this fandom using AI (you know who you are).
It’s admirable to want to reduce AI use, especially on these platforms where fanfic authors work tirelessly with no pay to entertain us all. The generosity of fanfic authors is unmatched, and they should definitely not be replaced by AI.
With that said, AI is hard to detect. And “signs” such as repeated paragraphs or weird dialogue could be due to a variety of other factors. The author could’ve wrote their fic on another platform and then copy and pasted (I’m guilty of hitting paste twice sometimes too). The author could be a relatively new writer, or someone who is writing for fun and is brave enough to share their story with us despite the imperfections.
These writers are not posting for monetary gain, but simply to share their stories and thoughts about our favourite characters so that we can all be delulu together.
Instead of focusing our energy on trying to root out authors using AI and in the process prematurely accuse them of a crime, let’s take a step back and look at the bigger picture: AI is not a problem because artists are using it. AI is a problem because corporations such as Coca-Cola are using it to replace artists.
The war against AI shouldn’t hurt artists too, it should lift them up and motivate them to keep creating when inspiration strikes, as often as they want.
No tags except the batfam one cause I don’t want to overwhelm the entire fandom lol. Also this was written at 1 am on my phone in the dark so excuse any mistakes.

Two Death Notes. Two visions of justice. One forbidden bond.
Mina Caldwell, a lawyer burdened by guilt and driven by a need to make the world safer, stumbles upon a black notebook with the power to kill. With Cain, a cryptic Shinigami, at her side, she begins delivering her own justice-silent, calculated, and precise. But whispers of another name-Kira-begin to shake her resolve.
Kira, the shadowy figure she believes to wield the same power, is both a terror and a fascination to Mina. As she watches Kira's influence grow, her path may become tangled in his, forcing her to question whether she's fighting the same battle-or creating a new one.
Two notebooks. Two killers. One Detective, One game of justice that none can afford to lose.
"The world isn't wide enough."

Hi there! Just passing by to ramble about how much I love your take on Gavin since he's also my favorite non-playable character in the game.
(Connor is my fave playable character ((predictable, ig?)) and I know [read it somewhere in your post, at least] you're not very fond of him, and that's okay.)
I know Gavin may not be everyone's favorite, but I just love how you see him differently regardless of what people say. I'm always relieved to read all your posts about him because it makes me feel like I'm crazy for even liking him while others are very against him.
I think some people are just conditioned to hate him instantaneously for being antagonistic towards Connor and Hank. And I think he has a good reason for it too. He's not a saint and I guess it's fine to like a character who's a bit cocky and with a lot of flaws.
But you had to admit that despite how seemingly shallow he is in the game, he does show a bit of his character upon extensive scrutiny and that's the beauty of what you're doing. I'll be reading (quietly) more of your opinions about this lovable jerk and I'll be loving every bit of it. ❤️❤️❤️
Hi :)
I'm glad to hear that. The toxicity/vitriol towards Gav has always made me concerned for humanity. It proves that so many ppl are incapable of thinking logically instead of emotionally. Where are their empathy? Likes/dislikes are subjective, but to say he's "nothing but a bad guy" and/or "has no redeemable qualities" are such brain-dead takes.
Despite his unpleasant attitude, Gav has every right to be canonically concerned about androids, and he has every right to believe they're not alive. It's logical. The guy doesn't have the insider knowledge that we, as players, do. Gav's not a psychic.
I love the gameplay of Con -- the detective aspect -- as well as his journey... but his awkward + overtly positive + doormat personality type annoys the shit out of me, lol. I'm Team Gavin Reed™ in disliking Con. Kudos to you for having enough intelligence to put aside your love for him and recognize that Gav has a point.
These are the reasons I've seen ppl hate Gav for:
some are too blinded by their love for Con and/or Hank (as you say)
some are narcissistic enough to feel entitled to their personal favorite characters having more fandom content (...and thus they take it out on fandom favorites)
some feel envious that Gav has the charisma to get away with being a dick (...and they aren't capable of doing the same bc they don't have charisma)
some try to take some BS moral high ground (...and fail)
some see parts of themselves in Gav and thus desperately try to convince others that, "I'm not like him!" (...and funnily enough, every Gav hater I've interacted with has proven themselves to be worse ppl than he is -- so yeah, they're not like him, they're worse)
some ppl are envious that Gav is better/more beloved than them and/or their favorite characters
some ppl hate white ppl (racists)
some ppl hate men (sexists/misandrists)
some ppl ignore the lead writer's statement that "the game is about androids and not race" so they can make it a modern-day political issue, and get brownie points saying stuff like "androids are real-life POCs meaning anyone who dislikes them is racist," bc they can't separate fiction from reality (...and thus they have the brain-dead take that Gav is "racist." I don't like AI such as ChatGPT taking jobs. Does that make me a racist, too?)
some ppl claim to hate Gav just bc it's popular (pack mentality)
some ppl just wanna create drama
some ppl are so starved for attention that they claim to hate him "just bc"
some ppl lack empathy (...and thus they don't understand what losing a job you love is like -- especially to someone who was just programmed to be better than you -- when you worked your ass off for decades getting said job)
some ppl didn't pay attention (...and thus they don't know that Gav had every right to step in both in The Interrogation and Last Chance, Connor bc Con was literally breaking the law)
some ppl see the world as black and white meaning they only think in extremes (...and are incapable of seeing the greys/finding balance)
some ppl are specifically looking to get triggered and thus bring up completely unrelated topics like "misogyny" bc god forbid you like Gav and not North even when they're completely different ppl (...and it's hypocritical that they protect North for hating humans, while at the same time, cursing Gav out for hating androids -- I don't go around with the false claim that, "you're sexist/misandrist for liking North and not Gav" bc I'm not an idiot)
That hatred is all based on emotions instead of rational thought.
"He's a dick!" So is Hank, North, and Con can be. "They have good reasons for it!" So has Gav. These ppl are in no position to decide who's 'the most' affected/traumatized, etc. bc we all react differently. Some are more distraught by their pet dying than a parent. That doesn't make their pain any less real.
Disliking him is fine, but don't give BS moral reasons for doing so. Sometimes we just don't vibe with a person/character and that's perfectly fine. Not vibing with someone, however, isn't hatred. It's apathy. Ppl who are just "meh" about him and don't spout BS excuses are valid.

For medicine (cancer detection), I'm not sure ai was ever meant to be "this is cancer and this is not" but more like "hey, these cells look suspicious, you should take a closer look at this case". It's not supposed to do our jobs, only to help us. There's a lot of things that computers will never be better at than humans.
When it comes to photoshop, I don't necessarily think that the ai tools that help you remove background or whatever (I don't use it, I don't like adobe either) are the bad guys here. These are just tools and people will be using them more and more, there's probably no way of stopping that. I don't have any data on that but I'd guess that they don't train their models in real time like chat gpt does, so it probably uses less resources (again, no data on that, only a wild guess, don't quote me on that, lol). The true evil is the way adobe does it with the fine print, stealing people's projects and generally their policies. You reblogged posts about it today so you know what I mean.
got it about medicine! thank you.
i'm gonna be honest, i don't know how much the current version of photoshop relies on AI. i have the 2018 version that is pirated and not updated. and something tells me that removing background is easier now. and if AI allows you to do it without manually going through the file selecting pixels so you can see what you're planning to remove, then damn, do i not like it. but removing background is one thing, it's whatever, just a step to reach the final goal. AI creating a background out of fucking nowhere is something i have a problem with. and expanding it. like, it's not a designer doing their job by creating the background, it's AI. and that begs the question, why is the actual designer even there? because i also can press a few buttons, and i'm not a designer, and i'm not asking to be paid as one. it's pretty much cheating. which i also don't have a problem with in certain fields (school, lmao), but not when it comes to creating something you're getting paid for good money usually, or creating because you love it. it just cancels the point of creation.
there's a possibility of Adobe training its AI on the "work in progress". if they have access to it now, they can do whatever they want without people knowing. and they also can say whatever they want to "ease" concerns. the public will never know unless someone sues Adobe, again, and they will have to disclose their practices. not to mention that this can probably be fabricated as well.

Will both Ben and BEN survive SCP Foundation world?
I’d say they both have a decent shot of surviving it, yeah!
I don’t know a lot about the SCP universe/lore (though I really want to cause I think it’s cool as hell!!!!!! It’s just. A lot. To get into and idk where to start lol), so I’m not sure how stringent/observant the organization is when it comes to purely digital entities like the BEN AI and all of his creations.
I know I said it already in my headcanons list but I’ll say it here too, BEN/Ben created pretty much every other digital Creepypasta in my universe. Sonic.exe, Smile.jpeg, Godzilla NES, if it comes from technology, the Bens are behind it. So I think the SCP foundation will have a field day sub-classifying every instance of BEN/Ben’s creations, lmao.
With that said, I think because of how many creations BEN has, plus the fact it’s never in one place for long, has its consciousness split up into many parts of the internet (you won’t believe how many people try and fail to play hero and lock it behind a firewall or trap it in a flash drive), and is just generally really smart when it comes to evading detection, BEN would be labeled as Keter (I think? Whichever label means “this shit cannot be contained” in SCP lingo) because it’s nigh impossible to observe/study it.
Ben however, might fare a little worse. I mean, the guy has a physical body and physical location. Sure, they can also travel through electronics, but not nearly as efficiently as the BEN AI he created. Physically, they’re the weakest in the manor. Bro can’t lift weights or do any feats of strength, they’re limited only to what they can do with their supernatural abilities and their ability to manipulate others into taking their own lives. For as much of an eloquent smooth talker that he is, Ben would have to make sure he’s well hidden from the foundation’s radar at all times, not just for his sake, but for everyone else’s. The last thing anyone wants or needs is a bunch of government ages showing up to cage them in a lab. In a universe where both Creepypasta and SCP exist together, Ben’s job would be the most important considering how easy it is to find someone on the internet these days.
SCP doesn’t exist in my HC universe per se, but I think this is exactly how it would go if this crossover was canon in my universe.
(I am also currently developing/have been developing for awhile my own sort of SCP organization, so expect that to show up eventually. Maybe. I gotta work out so many kinks first.)
