i dont cry a lot but i do not remember the last time i did not cry on my birthday...there's just something so unexplainable about it that just makes me cry every single year

At least not yet #She did start doing the dishes unprompted and continues to do so (mostly out of fear). I don’t mean to complain all the time but always in the back of my mind I’m mourning the years I lost to covid and poor mental health. Like I just want to be 19 again and actually live that age, I want to know what it would be like to be 20 and able to hang out with friends instead of stuck at home staring at a computer screen. Now I’m 22 and those “formative young adult years” where you’re still basically in that teenage-y phase of being in between being a kid and a ‘proper adult’, where you experience and learn about being an adult for the first time is coming to an end for me…except I missed that phase entirely. Like there was so much that could’ve happened if those were normal years. I found a lot of comfort and solace in being young, I don’t know what I’ll make of myself once that’s gone

and a secret ramble about Knell's character... 100% there's some kind of crypt baby spirit tether to the Necropolis going on, but I mean. U have to give a child an earnest chance at a life outside of The Dead Place. So. EARLY childhood like baby to 6yrs old, raised by mourn watchers. Then raised by some adjacent Nevarran foster care system in the city proper. Unfortunately she's agoraphobic (spirit tether anxiety) and transgender (makes the agoraphobia worse) and does terribly in school and struggles to get along with kids in her peer group. puberty is a lightning strike of dread and revulsion and fear so she BEGS to start novice training after giving life outside her absolute best shot from 6-14yrs. Estrogen and warrior training saved her. Has a huge meltdown rock bottom moment after the war of the banners and being told to travel for a while, but then finds that the world is not as hostile a place as she remembered as a child. Knowing herself and her role in the necropolis keeps her anchored, and she's able to adapt her thinking and her skills to a broader philosophy. Still very off putting and awkward to some, but she's incredibly compassionate and always looks for the most direct route through. abhors pettiness. KEEN knowledge of anatomy, fantastic field medic in a pinch, can relocate joints without hesitating, notices when a loved one is concealing an injury. Mr volkarin "I believe there's nothing so attractive as someone who's found themselves" OKAYY OKAY FINE. she wants to gnaw on him. GO MY SCARAB

Another neglectful fam concept because why not..

Reader being some minor god, deemed mostly unimportant by the rest of their pantheon. They're more of a nuisance really, always following everyone around like a shadow.

Nothing can ever deter them for long, even if they go off to sulk after being yelled at, they're right back to it after a few moons have passed. So bothersome...

It all building up into an explosive fight, the earth itself trembling at the argument above the clouds.

Our godly reader trying to desperately plead their case, unable to control their form so they're constantly shifting between being a powerful diety and a hurt child..

Either cast away from the palace or reader themselves choosing to finally leave. No matter the case, they're gone.

Their divine family being happy at first, relieved.

You know how when kore was stolen, demeter was going to let eternal winter settle over the land and kill the mortals?

Everything is so... dull. It starts small at first, dismissable. Less people are creating, but humans are such fickle beings anyway, it's a coincidence. No matter that certain deities are getting less and less offerings, or that prayers are dwindling, or that people are calling out to reader only to receive no answer

There's not an undeniable absence making the gods' hearts ache, they aren't wrong for their decisions. They do not regret.
