Japanese Food Cravings
More people are becoming familiar with the unique culinary culture of Japan as the cuisine spreads throughout the country. People are lining up to get their hands on tempura, ramen, sushi rolls and other Japanese dishes. I'm taking a break and ordering takeout in the interim, but home cooks like myself are busily preparing their way through replicating some of their favorite Japanese dishes at home.
I ordered the following:
Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura Agedashi Tofu
Philladelphia Roll Salmon Skin Roll California Roll
"If I were trapped in one city and had to eat one nation's cuisine for the rest of my life, I would not mind eating Japanese. I adore Japanese food. I love it." - Anthony Bourdain

[ID: 3 flatlay photos of soba and agedashi tofu with tsuyu sauce.
Cutting board with a block of tofu in a bowl, a jar with sprouting green onions, instant dashi powder, soba noodles, a microplane, and daikon
A bowl of small cubes of fried agedashi tofu in tsuyu sauce, topped with grated daikon and scallions
A jar of ebi fumi furikake, soba noodles in an oval dish, a bowl of agedashi tofu, a bowl of tsuyu sauce, and a spoon and chopsticks laid on a table. End ID]
microplaning daikon is very fun. deep frying agedashi tofu is also very fun.

#BaguioEats: Savoring authentic Japanese delights at Chaya
Hubby and I recently took the fam on a much-deserved break in Baguio, the charming city known for its cool weather, scenic landscapes, and delightful dining experiences. Aside from the sightseeing and the meet-ups with family and friends, the family certainly looked forward to the foodie adventures that the City of Pines has to offer. Fortunately, Hubby’s cousin, who we make a point of meeting…

How to cook agedashi dofu(Deep-fried tofu with soup stock)
Tumblr media
Tofu is a health food by itself, but just frying it and eating it with a refreshing dashi broth makes it a truly delicious dish.☺️ Click here for the recipe. ↓↓↓ https://japa-meshi.blogspot.com/2023/06/how-to-agedashi-dofudeep-fried-tofu.html

Obviously this is about vegan cuisine but one of the other important things (especially for people who want to reduce their meat consumption) is that it's not just a replacement for other proteins (or other proteins for it) but a supplement to them. Fry some soft tofu in bacon grease and you need that much less pork. Same with ma po tofu. Or hot pot. Or bbq skewers.

The past couple of days have been a big game of 'do I feel so tired and sad because of my period, because my depression is being a bitch, or because it's been cloudy and pouring for days now?' It might actually be all three. I ain't gotten shit from my to-do list for the week done at all 😩 On the brighter side, I finally tried making agedashi tofu at home because I've only had it in restaurants and for some reason thought it would be tricky, but it is not and it's so damn good, why doesn't everyone like tofu?
