I really hate where I see fandom going with AI.

I don't want to see AI-generated writing or art, period. But it's going to get harder and harder to tell as AI improves.

Which also means that newer writers/artists who write "too good" or "too weird" will be under immediate suspicion. Which means some genuine creators will feel frozen out.

It just paints a dire picture of fandom.

I get all the hype around old money Agatha and younger, bartender-adjacent Rio but like...

Agatha was, in canon, originally from poverty: she came from Salem, which was a poor, fledgling colony, and raised Nicky while traveling with just the clothes on their backs and a goat, for some reason. She's self made as hell.

And Rio probably has a shit ton of money hoarded somewhere, and is far older and has much more wisdom, if not book knowledge, than Agatha.

what if all rio is trying to do is tell agatha that it hurt her too. what is rio is desperate to share this sadness with the only other person who could understand. what if rio is angry, FUMING at agatha for being so selfish in thinking that rio could never feel remorse. that agatha just abandoned her for years, potentially centuries, convinced that she was the only one to be upset, to have had her entire world turned upside down.

agatha is a selfish person and the road is testing her ability to be selfless. what if her biggest test is accepting that someone else could share that pain with her. that she never had to make rio a villain in her mind, and she never had to become one herself.

they will have their fight, they will get ugly, but at the crux of it all, when they both take a second the breathe, rio whispers “he was my son too” through her rage. maybe it is a scream. maybe a cry.

by blaming rio, and running from rio, agatha took away rio’s right to mourn; to be a mother to that child. rio will have to spend the rest of eternity thinking of it unless she acts now. she needs to resolve the only thing in her existence that has ever made her feel alive, so she can truly experience the one thing she never thought she was able to: death.
