Favorite OC (Solus Ve’tra/Solly Vetra - Star Wars)

At the end of the day it’s Solus. I feel terrible picking a favorite baby but it’s her. Throughout all of my fandom shifts and hyperfixations my brain returns to her. Even when I intentionally ignored that Star Wars existed (because of the fandom) I still thought about her story. Each time I return to writing her it’s like coming home, ya know? She’s my Smartass, (former) Jedi and Political Terrorist that wanted a quiet life. The Ancestors, the Force, and the Galaxy just had different plans. Because she's an advisor and guide and teacher and so much more. She’s a proud mother, devoutly religious, and so many other things I never thought I’d write positively about and yet here she is.

Newest OC (Ca’tra Skirata - Star Wars)

Cat’ra is the eighteen-ish month old daughter of my OC, Jazari Naaji, and her husband Mereel Skirata. Imagine an adorable little girl with a head full of the wildest, poofiest dark curls and a bright smile. Outwardly, she comes across as a little developmentally delayed because she doesn’t try to speak and barely makes babbling sounds. It’s mostly due to being Force Sensitive and not needing words to communicate how she feels. She toddles after big brother, Grim, so he slows down or carries her. But, she’s a really confident child that’s happy with any of her many, many relatives. One of her cutest habits is “demanding” someone read whatever they’re reading to her. It’s mostly poking or pointing at what has her attention. Sometimes she does the actions with a little head tilt to mean, “Explain?” because she’s so curious.

Oldest OC (Solus Ve’tra/Solly Vetra - Star Wars)

This one is Solus again because I remember the year I made her: 2017. Watching her evolution has been a delightful, if at times frustrating, experience. When I first came up with her character she was drastically different. She was a Padawan from the Mandalore Sector who stayed with the Jedi Order until Order 66. She loathed Pre Vizsla and his ideals leading to them clashing several times throughout. Maybe once she hooked up with Bo-Katan Kryze but her literal endgame ship was Ahsoka Tano/Boba Fett/Herself. Next to none of this is true anymore! She marries Pre and Bo-Katan, joins Death Watching because they’re established and actually fighting to save Mandalore, and demands everyone that isn’t Mandalorian (true outsiders and “Mandalorians” who don’t fit her liberal definition) to stay out of the sector’s affairs. She will spill blood without batting an eye to have this demand met. She’s neutral when interacting with Ahsoka and Boba but inwardly she’s just like, “Wow, you wanna recreate the Order than damned you. And you wanna ignore your heritage but wear out armor. Then again, your father was kind of a failure.”

Meanest OC (Lumi Kirrin - Star Wars)

It is 110% Lumi. I love her to death but she’s intimidating, blunt, and a self-professed Stone Cold Bitch. Her nicer statements are of the “I’m not really a sugarcoater” to her unfiltered opinions that have made people cry. There’s no trying to play it off as humor or sarcasm. Nope. She says it with her whole chest. There’s things like, “Here comes the nosiest bitch in the Order. Wonder what she’s gonna wanna snitch about now?” but she’s just saying that to Kamelia’s face like she isn’t there. Coming on to her has like a 98% failure rate; depending on what you say changes the response. If you mention her physical beauty she will verbally tear you apart. Needless to say, no one sends her as a part of a diplomatic envoy nor does she have to handle politicians. She doesn’t kiss ass. There’s improvements and character growth but at her core she’s Mean.

Softest OC (Alijah Kastor - Star Wars)

She’s one of my softest darlings. Her default state is being this cheerful person that wants everyone to feel valued and included. She wants to help for the sake of helping. Between her personality and empathic abilities, she’s an excellent medic. Think of her as the “Hey, my friend asked for no pickles,” person even if she’s also an actually introverted, anxious mess. She treats waiters, jaintors, and droids of all sorts with the same respect and courtesy she gives to like senators. When she pictured a life after The Clone Wars it was gentle. She would be married to Grey, they’d live on a green planet with a garden, and they could finally rest.

Most Aloof/Standoffish OC (Fe Cataegis - Final Fantasy XV)

Even before she knew she was a Messenger of the Astral Shiva she carried herself with this aura of “Do Not Approach.” She knows how to be friendly, play the political game, etc. but her personal default is neutrality a solid ninety percent of the time. As a combat medic, she knows how to work in teams and work well. It’s also not a stretch to call her a skilled leader. However, she also is just as comfortable and competent when left to work alone. When she worked with the Galahdian Resistance she was a medic, yes, but also a sniper. A lot of people get the feeling that she doesn’t need them and it is very true. The fact being Shiva’s Messenger gives her an unprecedented access to Ice Magic also means her actual physical being sometimes has ice cold air rolling off of her. When a room’s temperature drops at her displeasure there’s a chance it’s also literal.

Dumbest (Affectionate) ) OC (Jai Ve’ra - Star Wars)

This man is a well-known figure within the True Mandalorian community and honestly outside of it as well. He has served as a chief advisor, diplomat, spymaster, and assassin for several Manda’lors. Getting people to like him is as easy as breathing. This man is also a certified, intergalactic dumpster fire. Like, when Jango was making his list of people to have in the Cuy’val Dar he knew Jai would agree as a friend but also because he likely fucked his life up enough to want to hide for an unknown amount of years. And he was right! Javi’s ability to fuck up romantic and familial relationships should be as legendary as his inability to operate a jetpack or fly without a droid’s assistance. This is because his default when he doesn’t know what to do is use the Spymaster Skills. Turns out people don’t like being excluded from decisions involving them. THEN THIS MOTHERFUCKER WILL, AT TIMES, FLEE THE CONSEQUENCES OF HIS ACTION AS IF THEY WILL JUST GO AWAY.

A prime example is how he rejoined the True Mandalorians/House Fett during the Great Clan Wars. He realized he hated his New Mandalorian wife and his daughter wasn’t worth the effort to save her. However, his granddaughter deserved a chance at life and to experience a Mandalore worth growing up in. Which is to say he kidnapped his hour old granddaughter from Kalevala and booked it to his clan’s ancestral stronghold on Krownest. This also bright him back into the arms of his ex-boyfriend turned eventual partner and co-parent. He never once thought about divorcing this woman and disowning his daughter in simple fashion. No. He just went with the impulse of “Solus deserves better.” and acted.

Smartest OC (Veronica “Nico” Bright - Resident Evil Canon Universe)

What counts as intelligent is honestly a very subjective thing but overall I think it’s Nico. She’s not someone who is The Absolute Best in a way that confines her to certain niches. Instead, she’s someone with a huge variety of skills that cover many diverse areas. There’s her primary job of journalist and photography with the subsets of skills to make her super fucking good at it. However, she’s got knowledge of computers, virology, phytobiology, etc. She’s capable of conducting herself as a chameleon that fits in anywhere including keen observation skills. She speaks multiple languages with many of them being self-taught. In fact, her ability to teach herself turns her into a special kind of dangerous but she can and will learn then implement things mid-mission. That being said, she's also not too proud to ask for help or attend classes when she needs it. Finally, her ability to see unique patterns and creative thinking means she’s solving problems in ways next to now one else would have thought of.

For example, if she wanted to track down Albert Wesker she straight up would not have bothered looking for signs of him. He’s too smart to leave tracks that have a direct load to himself. So, she’d focus on key characteristics of him (Intelligent, Massive Ego, etc.) then look for the negative space someone like him could create. If he’s got an ego then he’d want to engineer his own virus instead of picking up samples off of the black market. Enough digging gets her to the failed presentation of Spencer, Marcus, and Bailey about their virus that revives dead cells. Well where did they get ideas? That turns to reading Natural History Conspectus by Henry Travis. The stories of the Ndipaya and their magical flower could have truth. It’s also not difficult to find that Travis’ brother owned the Travis Company. It was rebranded as Tricell and has a pharmaceutical branch. The West African Branch has a new leader that’s barely older than herself. It’s possible she had help and raw biohazardous materials wouldn’t be difficult to hide in the logs at all. They’re also operating in/near the Kijuju Region like where Travis mentioned the flowers. Focusing on Excella is how to potentially find good intel on Wesker or at least a middle man worth checking out.

OC I’d Be Friends With (Jazari Naaji)

She’s a wonderful, gifted slicer that’s a former Jedi Knight and current Mandalorian. Yeah, she can look intimidating with the undercut, black lipstick, and dark eyeliner (and frankly is at times) but she’s mostly just really sweet. She’s the friend who brings you food when you’re hungover or sick, runs errands together as bonding, is ready to shank a bitch, etc. Plus she gives The Best Hugs. She’s got the same “full of so much light flowers grow toward her” energy as Alijah but isn’t as let’s go clubbing, partying, etc. as Alijah can be.

5x08 reaction

I’m not going to do a play by play reaction post to 5x08 because I hated it so much and rewatching it would be a chore (and this is the first time I’ve said that about any Riverdale episode).  So I’m just going by memory of the one (1) time I’ve viewed it.  

For context - I’m not a long time Barchie shipper. I didn’t really get myself deep into this sector of the fandom until 4x15 or so.  I’ve always been pro-whatever makes for good story telling. I liked bughead in S1 and early S2 and by the beginning of S3 I was bored with them.  I thought varchie had good chemistry in S1 and then couldn’t stand them in S2 on onward because of Veronica allowing the toxic relationship between Hiram/Archie.  I went through a big jeronica phase and really wish the show had gone there with them.  I’ve always wanted the show to explore barchie, even from S1 when I liked bughead.  I only mention this because I want to make the point that I really don’t watch this show through a “shipper” lens. I (usually) genuinely love the show, I love the Archie Comics characters, and I’m not just watching for ships.  

That being said.........

I don’t want Betty going back to Archie after he chose V over her AGAIN.  7 years later!!!! WHAT!!! And she’s still married? I don’t care that she’s “getting a divorce”, she literally just decided that IMMEDIATELY before their reunion scene.  

Telling Veronica he was “devastated” when he found out she was married.... WHAT?? WHEN?? They did not portray this in the show at all.

How could varchie shippers possibly be happy with this rushed reconciliation? Exes to lovers after *checks notes* 3 episodes? This is supposed to be an epic love story? And the way KJ delivered those lines... he was not into it.  

The way Archie was talking to Jackson about Betty? Like he was disappointed it wasn’t just a booty call? WHO IS THIS MAN!!! I DON’T KNOW HIM

This rushed Kangs storyline that started and ended in this one episode and they expect me to care?? And the way Kevin was acting, when he’s agreed to this commitment to two other people that includes raising a baby together, and then he’s all the sudden going to break up with Fangs without considering anyone else (TONI???)

The jughead alien storyline is so tired... I’m good with them exploring his drinking problem (and I hope they do address that in a meaningful way) but can we not with this “close encounters” bs, enough is enough. 

Tabitha is way too good for him and I really hope they don’t use her to “save” jughead and then he just goes back to Betty.  Gross.  I would also love to see her interacting with characters other than Jughead.  Tabitha deserves better.   

AND CHONI!!!! Toni was my favourite in this episode and the most in character.  Cheryl was... awful? Trying to manipulate Toni by promising a celebration party for her and then turning it all around into drama in an attempt to break up Kangs and get Toni back? When she could have just talked to her in the first place, since Toni had made it clear previously that she wanted to get back together.  Toni was right to call her out on her bullsh*t.

Anyway.  To clarify.  I’m not just mad that barchie ended things and varchie got together. I expected that to happen. It’s THE WAY IT HAPPENED!!! There are ways this could have been done without completely throwing Archie under the bus.  Without making Veronica somehow look both like a manipulator and a doormat at the same time.  These characters all deserve so much better than these writers.

Annon-Guy: What are you personal thoughts on Nu-13 and Lambda-11 In terms of gameplay and personality? You can talk about their character designs too id you want too.

Okay, I need to first summarize what I know of Nu and Lambda at the moment before I give my personal thoughts. A lot of shorthanding and maybe some errors may be involved so plz forgive me.

Nu-13 and Lambda-11 are both Prime Field Devices, artificial humans made for the purpose of exploring the boundary. Specifically, they are Murakumo Units: PFD’s outfitted with the Nox Nyctores Lux Sanctus: Murakumo as full-on weapons.

When Ragna’s siblings were captured, because of Saya’s innate gift with seithr, she was used as the basis for creating all of these Units. There are usually referred to as “clones” which means everyone treats them as either the same as Saya or also sisters, leading to a lot of incest jokes and rants in the fandom. More on this later but I feel like it has to be brought up.

we first meet Nu-13 as the final boss of the first game Calamity Trigger, where we learn that this is technically the 3rd time she and Ragna have met, since before this Ragna was blowing up NOL branches and cauldrons to stop more Murakumo Units from being made, as they are all just fake copies of his sister who was tortured for their creation.

Nu-13 has a full-on yandere crush on Ragna due to 2 factors I believe, 1. she is constantly viewing him through the lens of the fragment of Saya’s soul saying “Ragna is the big brother who loves me”, and 2. Ragna killing her again and again. This causes her to see Ragna killing her as loving her. Not helping is her being made in the Boundary which completely fucks up your mental state when near it.

At the end of almost every ending in CT, Nu defeats Ragna, skewering them both on her sword, they fall into the Cauldron and travel back in time 100 years to become the Black Beast that ravaged the world in the Dark War, creating a time loop. As when a Murakumo does an imperfect fusion with an Azure Grimoire (or at least a piece of the Azure) it becomes a Black Beast, with a perfect fusion resulting in a Kusanagi: the God Slayer (which is what Noel becomes and what the villains were trying to do to take down Amaterasu (the god of Blazblue world). Fitting as a Murakumo, with the Kusanagi being a super version of it, has a Nox capable of resisting Phenomenon Intervention, which is the Mater Unit’s main Power. So when they say God Slayer they do not mean gods in general they mean a SPECIFIC god. Just need to say that).

Anyways, Nu kills Ragna every now and again for like 725 loops before Noel steps in during the true ending and manages to grab Ragna before he and Nu fall into the Cauldron.

In Continuum Shift, the second game taking place right/ a week after the first game, Nu’s body is recovered from the bottom of the Cauldron (yes those things apparently have a bottom they aren’t just portals) by Sector Seven and Kokonoe proceeds to ake Nu’s soul and put it in the body of another Murakumo Unit, Lambda-11 to use as a puppet and fight for her. Her weapons are made of titanium alloy instead of Hihi'irokane (the mythical Japanese metal which is also in the Susano’o Unit and is also the name of a Soul cutting sword in Blazblue), and she is outfitted with an IDEA Engine, an improved version of the Artificial Causality Phenomenon Weapons: a scientific counterpart to the Nox Nyctores using Atomic Power rather than souls.

Lambda’s memories are still in there and she recalls the torture she had to endure by all the scientists creating her, which I assume all Murakumos underwent including Nu, so Kokonoe has to erase her memories to make her an effective tool, even if she regrets it.

They don't really explain where the soul starts and the mind/memories begin and vice versa though, this is another thing I will tackle later.

She sends out Lambda in the second game to do things, she like Tager for the most part just acts as Kokonoe’s proxy, until the climax of the true ending where Ragna is fighting Terumi at the top of the NOL branch. Just as Terumi is about to kill Ragna, Lambda takes a lethal blow for Ragna, and in her final moments, Nu’s soul comes to the surface and is glad she got to see Ragna again, him having recently gone through the character development of not seeing Murakumos as things but as people after interacting with Noel. As she dies and fades into sparkles, weird for a science thing, she grants Ragna her Idea Engine, giving him the power boost he needs to defeat Terumi and later save Noel who was smelted into the Kusanagi.

Now in the third game, because Ragna and Nu have a Life Link, which means one cannot die permanently without the other being killed in a short time frame, Nu is now able to come back as she couldn’t before with Kokonoe shoving her soul into Lambda. She mostly just acts as the villains' combat android until she copies Noel’s power to summon the Master Unit (as both are Saya fragments and also fragments of The Origin, the first PFD who made contact with the Master Unit and sort of.....became it?). Then in the climax, the villains summon Take-Mikazuchi, a giant titan satellite laser thing, and make Nu the core of it. Once the body is destroyed Ragna goes inside to deal with Nu. She proceeds with her usual shtick of telling Ragna they will “become one” and to kill her and all that, saying the backstory of pretty much every Murakumo about how she was made to be a weapon and how she was tortured and shit, this is also her saying Noel’s backstory since Noel ‘Observed” Nu as her which is SORT of true since they are both Saya but not really, it’s confusing as hell. But, basically, she is saying the shared Murakumo Backstory and Ragna sees this as her cries to be saved, while Nu, who only sees her and Ragna’s relationship as a mutually sadomasochistic one, goes bonkers and tries to kill Ragna, not out of yandere lust, but actual anger and hatred. Ragna wins and brings her out of Take-Mikazuchi, where Izanami takes control of her and makes her stab Ragna and he goes berserk and loses control of the Azure Grimoire.

the fourth game Central Fiction is a mess so I know the least here but from what I recall:

Nu is now growing to be her own person, she is less robotic but that means Yandere Ragna mode is on all the time. She is going around absorbing Nox Nyctores to get power so she can kill Ragna and do the merge. Near the climax, she is fighting Jubei and when she almost kills Tsubaki, Hakumen steps in and wrecks her shit. (In a previous time loop Tsubaki was killed by Nu b/c Noel didn’t exist and wasn’t Jin’s secretary instead of Tsubaki, so she went after Jin in the first game who was going after Ragna, she got caught in the crossfire, with Nu’s yandere mind hating any female in the same room as Ragna, and dies. Jin then falls into the cauldron after Ragna and Nu to become Hakumen during the Dark War. More time loop BS).

Meanwhile due to the Embryo, BS plot device, Lambda just.....comes back to life. Even though her soul was technically never a part of the story as it was NU’S soul in the body during CS. Anyways she is basically “good Nu” she is fighting the villains through sheer Power of Love and just wants to see Rgana again, she is pretty unimportant in the overall scheme of things.

After the world is remade Noel and Lambda move into the rebuilt church where Ragna and the siblings grew up and became nuns, looking after the comatose Nu who is kind of a vegetable with her sole reason for existing, Ragna, now no longer existing and all memory of him being erased.

Okay so after that lengthy summary, here are my thoughts.

1. the sister thing.

In spite of them being “clones” of Ragna’s little sister Saya, that hasn't stopped a shit load of ship teasing with the Murakumos by both the writers and the fandom.

Part of me thinks it’s because they go too far in the “They are their own unique people, they aren’t just fake copies of Saya” to which the fans mostly agree, but that just means while they aren’t Saya they are still related/connected to her. It isn't like Ragna can only have ONE sister.

Also, the reveal of Izanami being Saya at the end of CS also factors into this.

My only way to do mental gymnastics around this is saying that by “clone” they just mean copy/looks like her and has the same abilities, but genetically they are different.

I mean, we have no idea how Murakumos....work. They can't have any mechanical bits because we see them get zapped in-game and they have no metal, Noel CERTAINLY would've known she wasn't human if she didn't grow like a normal human or eat, sleep, produce waste, etc.

To me, Murakumos seem to be like software/computer programs given physical form via seithr. More like the Valentines in Guilty Gear, “robots” made up of information.

Plus, the story only ever points out the sibling connection with Ragna and Noel, and that’s in the LAST game and until then she’s just a stranger to him, with Lambda and Nu NEVER being treated the same.

And before anyone goes “BUT THE SCIENTIFIC DEFINITION OF CONE MEANS ‘HUR DE DUR, SAME DNA’ AND THEY USE THE WORD CLONE TO DESCRIBE THEM IN CANON! MEH!”, that could just be an over-simplification as to what they are, and I feel like a lot of series just rely on an oversimplification of terms. Like how Black Holes mostly work in fiction is NOT how they work IRL.

Now, does this mean I would’ve wanted Ragna to get with Noel or Lambda or Nu? Fuck no. I can appreciate cute little one-shots that have nothing to do with canon, but in terms of looking this train wreck of a story and trying to fix it they have other issues that make me not want to ship them.

I might go into why I wouldn't want Ragna x Noel in another post later, but I’ll stay on topic with Nu and Lambda.

Both are kind of boring

Lambda is basically Nu with less personality and is just a plot device for the most part.

As for Nu, even if you redeem her and keep her loving Ragna qualities without the yandere murder, it is still boring. because all her interests are Ragna she has nothing else going for her. Outside of the most generic romance shit what can you see Nu doing with him? it’s a bit upsetting because Nu seems like the type of person who’d have Ragna’s back and punch Jin in the dick if he insults or threatens Ragna, which is something I would LOVE in an S.O. for Ragna.  But without her own interests and character, she is just......boring. And yeah you could theorize that she gains an interest outside of Ragna post-redemption but that is too broad of a statement that I can’t really do anything with it.

So frankly, even IF we ignore the sister thing or do weird mental gymnastics about it, Ragna/Nu and Lambda would just be BORING as they are in canon outside of the most generic BS.

2. The connection between Nu and Lambda

Really Lambda was just made to keep Nu’s gameplay in while killing her in canon, that is a dumb excuse.

Some people like to see Lambda s Nu but redeemed temporarily but then come to CP and it’s like none of the Lambda stuff mattered. You’d think that at least Ragna would use Lambda’s death as an ace for his argument on using the Azure Grimoire as when he wasn't able to use it he got his shit kicked in and someone had to DIE for him because of that. But NOPE.

Then she is revived for bullshit fanservice reasons in CP Extend and is barely a thing in Story Mode

A while ago I made a post showing 3 ways they could've gotten rid of Nu that would’ve made good character moments. I will be focusing on number 3 here: Have Nu and Lambda be the same person.

Instead of Lambda being brought back via Embryo Bullshit, have Nu and Lambda be a split personality deal. Like Nu is the CS Mu to Lambda’s Noel. Say during Ragna’s Arcade mode or Nu’s Arcade mode Nu slightly hesitates when about to kill Ragna, reality flickers a bit revealing Lambda’s color scheme on Nu, showing that Lambda is within her. Nu’s soul spending time in Lambda has given her an alternate identity.

This doesn't just have to affect just Ragna, maybe Lambda remembers that Kokonoe mind-wiped her and tried to make her into a puppet thus making her no better than the villains.

During the climax, instead of Nu’s yandere rage, we have that mixed in with Lambda’s hysterical cries begging for death due to the torture of Nu’s memories. Both side tr and kill Ragna out of rage or trying to force him to kill them in self-defense. Ragna, of course, doesn’t and saves them, thus allowing Nu-Lambda to be brought back to Kokonoe and redeemed.

Maybe her hair is a mix of Nu and Lambda’s making it a Platinum Blonde (making it a mixture of Nu’s white hair and Lambda’s blonde hair), and the tanner skin complexion and red eyes further separate her from Noel.

3. Story roles

The first two games are fine for the most part but I have some ideas for the last two.

For the 3rd game, an idea I had was instead of Nu being the one to summon the Master Unit via stealing Noel’s power, have Amane do something important in this game instead of having him chase Carl.

he is said the be the “Uzume” like the god who stripped and made Amaterasu come out of the cave after her sibling fallout with Susano’o. Simply have Amane be the “herald of Amaterasu”, possibly being a being similar to Terumi, a spirit of a god unit. maybe not AS powerful as the Sankishin, but just under. This means that Nine’s Hino Kagutsuchi would fall under this category as well. Or maybe he simply has a story connection with Noel in accepting the part of her connection to the Origin and the Azure or something.

To go off of the shipping thing above, maybe to at least use the Saya soul thing, she is struggling with her feelings towards Ragna because how much of these feelings are her own, and how many are born from an isolated sibling’s misplaced love? This is probably something a villain taunts her about

I kind of theorize that Saya’s fear of other people instilled in her during the siblings’ days as lab rats and Ragna protecting her made her develop an unhealthy sister crush on him, this, of course, isn't helped by the Origin (who she is based on) wanting Ragan to be her knight in shining armor.

Again, more on this later possibly.

Anyways, so Lambda can get her own feelings in order and prove that she isn’t just a copy of Saya or Noel, she tries to make her own identity. maybe cutting off that large Murakumo ponytail in the process, b.c that’s an Asian culture thing about cutting hair to symbolize the beginning of a new stage in her life. Maybe after forgiving Kokonoe, she joins Sector Seven not as a field agent like Tager, but as Kokonoe’s new assistant and friend, showing that she isn't going to be used as a tool or a weapon.

I still need to get on with drawing Lambda in a lab coat styled after her Murakumo cloak.

As for at least Nu’s connection with Ragna. It is weird because I generally either hate or have enormous contempt for almost everyone Ragna has interacted with for the pettiest reasons. For Nu, while she is crazy towards Ragna and tries to kill him, it's due to her own psychosis and insanity, which is partially Ragna’s fault. Everyone else who gives Ragna shit is either a villain (in which case it’s fine because it is a VILLAIN, which Nu sort of counts as), or an arrogant asshole who KNOWS what they are doing for the lols. So I SORT OF give Nu a semi-pass. But like I stated above I can’t see what she would be if she were redeemed, so I do feel like if she wasn't going to be used as a way to bring Lambda back, she should've been killed.

 The point is, the Murakumos have a lot of potential for smaller things but they are incredibly mishandled in a lot of ways too, including showing up where they really shouldn't a lot of times. Shipping is okay so long as you are capable of doing mental gymnastics to ignore the sister shit, and don’t look at a whole lot of other issues.

These are just my thoughts and maybe I didn’t explain things enough, or I did it weirdly, or I have some different opinions, IDK. This series gives me a lot of feelings

Fandom ask thing: Godzilla

Whew boy, I’ve beenputting this off for too long…

Let’s be real here: thisone HAD to be asked eventually. XD Since my Godzilla knowledge stems prettydeep, I’m going to do something akin to the Pokemon Ask where I’ll havemultiple answers per sector. So… Let’s begin!

Favorite Male Character

THE MATTHEW BRODERICKCHARAC– XD Nah, I’m just pulling legs here. Though truth be told, I think I’mgoing to emphasize more of the humans / aliens here as opposed to the monsters,if only because I feel like there are some very strong characters littered throughoutthe franchise that I feel need / deserve more recognition. But for anyone curious about the monsters, just know that Iabsolutely love all monsters from the Godzilla series and the greater Tohouniverse.

While a lot ofrightful praise goes to Dr. Serizawa from the 1954 classic Gojira for his complexity and torn humanity of what’s right (a la,keep the Oxygen Destroyer a secret or use it to kill Godzilla), I’d actuallylike to point to his quote-unquote “counterpart” from 1984′s The Return of Godzilla, Dr. Hayashida.He’s a man who went into the scientific field to exact his revenge on Godzilla,only to mature over the course of 30 years and let it go. Honestly, the dudehas complexity, and it’s a nice subversion to the whole “obsessiverevenge” trope. There’s wisdom and mystique to Hayashida that I don’t think hasbeen recaptured, and part of that can be attributed to the late YosukeNatsuki’s performance. Stellar work.

Likewise, for thealiens, a ton of rightful praise goes to the Xilien Controller from Invasion of Astro-Monster (or, Godzilla vs. Monster Zero). I think inmany ways, if he didn’t blatantly state that they were using magnetic waves andif humanity didn’t have the ability to pull a new weapon out of its arse, hewould have conquered Earth. While it’s still obvious he’s the villain, there’sa certain calculative, methodical cunningness to his personality (at least forbeing a 1960s Sci-Fi alien from a script that was written on the fly) that I thoroughlyenjoy each time I watch Astro-Monster. 

Favorite Female Character

Personal favorite ofthe G-series’ ladies goes to the Xilien agent Miss Namikawa from Astro-Monster.She’s a stellar femme fatale who, in many respects, helps save the world at theend of the day. Being played by the beautiful Kumi Mizuno really helps, haha.

Additionally, KatsuraMafune is another great addition to the Godzilla series. While the executionwasn’t perfect, I do enjoy the melodrama of Terrorof Mechagodzilla, and Katsura’s arc was easily one of the highlights.

Least Favorite Character

Out of these… Myleast favorite I’m sadly giving to the Kilaaks. Granted, I think the Nebulansare also kinda on the low-ranking scale for me, but the Kilaaks are a biggerdisappointment to me because they felt like carbon copies of the Xiliens. Andunlike the Nebulans, the Kilaaks don’t have any new monsters! Well, there’s theFire Dragon, but that’s only a Kilaak UFO. Ghidorah reaaaaaally could’ve used the help there! Now that’s not to say I absolutely loathe themor despise them; but then comes the issue that they’re too bland to even beangry about. XD

Favorite Ship

Glenn and Namikawa,easily. ;) Even if the screentime for their relationship is sparse, you do geta feeling from those two, especially when Namikawa’s killed. Glenn’s reactionis damn well genuine and leads toprobably one of my favorite lines from the movie. An alternative, if I had togive any, would be Miki and Godzilla. :P

Favorite Friendship

JET JAGUAR IS EVERYONE’SBEST FRIEND SHUT UP.

Okay, whew… Stillstrictly speaking humans, this one is generally harder for me to pin down whatmy favorite friendship would be. If I had to go off the top of my head, thesibling relationship between Shindo and Naoko in Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster is a lot of fun. Dare I say, Ithink the good guys from Ebirah, Horrorof the Deep (or, Godzilla vs. the SeaMonster) are a treat to watch interact. Same could be said for theprotagonists of Godzilla vs.SpaceGodzilla, even if the movie is rough on the edges.

Katagiri’s death, nodoubt. Being the personal target to the King of the Monsters himself? You knowyou’ve done goofed. It’s even worse in the manga adaptation.

It’s hard for me toimmediately recall a moment with the human characters that made me flee gleefuland excited… Though a moment that immediately comes to mind is Yuko’s speechfrom Mothra vs. Godzilla (the ’64 film).Ya’ll should know what I’m talking about.

Saddest Moment

OH LORDIE, SEEING MIKISAD MAKES ME SAD. ;_; I also have to point out Akane Yashiro (even if she��sjust a bit angsty) and Sara Yuhara from GodzillaAgainst Mechagodzilla are incredibly depressing, especially Sara. She losther mother, with only a little plant serving as her last connection, and shewonders why she couldn’t be brought back with the same technology used forKiryu. Katsura’s suicide and Namikawa’s execution are also heavy hitters.
