i can totally see and understand why people want jeremy to lash out so bad. i really do. but i just don't think he should. for example, i love renee more than anything, right? but i think you guys just really want another renee. you want the supposedly happy, calm character to be drowned with their own anger and hate (i don't think renee is anymore, she still has healing to do however, and she can't change her past), but i think jeremy is a completely different type of person. he deserves a good breakdown, he deserves fleshing out, but i don't want another andrew (love him, once again) and i don't want another renee. i want jeremy knox.

my prediction is that jerejean will be concrete on the 3rd book, bc it's going to be a slow burn that is so slow and that will burn as hell, there will be a lot of pining because there is no way Jeremy will act upon his feelings when he'll realise them and Jean is too traumatised and knows better to let his temptation take a hold on him.

Predictions / wishlists for tsc2 & 3

1 - We heard Edgar Allan might bring back some graduates to coach for them, so one or more of the napkin-worthy backliners could make an appearance. Our new villain?

2 - Jeremy and Jean’s first kiss is on the back of a motorcycle. Maybe Jean learns to ride so he can show Jeremy PCH at sunset, and is sufficiently exhilarated to get out of his own way…

3 - Jean gets his bear magnet with the red beret replaced by someone… and you can’t prove it won’t be Zane. Gasp in horror if you want but there was a time when all we knew of Jean was that he helped Riko torture Neil. If anyone told me after that scene that he'd end up being our boy I’d have wanted to hit them.

4 - One of the female characters gets to have an issue. KUST KIDDING! The girls are all fine, only the boys get to have issues.

5 - Jeremy and Jean each fuck someone else to try to prove something to themselves. At least one of those is probably (not) Kevin.

6 - We know someone’s getting themselves punched and my money’s on Andrew punching Jean. I think they’d talk things out afterwards, but that would need to happen first.

7 - I can also see Jean punching Jeremy - see earlier point. (Wow this post is getting bloodthirsty.) His mental state is fragile you guys. There will be drama.

8 - Jean gives his first ceramic creation to Renee. It has rainbows on it.

9 - At least one of Jeremy's secrets involves him being a lot less pure than he looks. (Does/did he pay for sex? Why did my mind go there? I just feel there’s such a strong virgin/whore theme to Jean’s story.)

10 - Jean hugs Wymack, resulting in my untimely death.

11 - We find out exactly which aspect of history holds Kevin so enthralled. Yes I want to see how close my hc was, but I also desperately need this insight into his character.

12 - Nora continues to unapologetically portray Thea in a way that doesn’t beg for our sympathy or affection, because she is the goddess we need but don’t deserve.

13 - Jean has way too much fun remorselessly prickteasing Jeremy.

14 - We learn what the fuck dealers do. I mean I’ve seen the description but how does this play out from a tactical perspective? We’re only here for the sport, ma’am.

15 - Jean recites a French quote in a tv interview that translates to ‘The King is dead long live the Queen’. (Yes punks that’s my username)

16 - Someone gets to end Tetsuji. And by someone I mean Wymack.

17 - Jean and Jeremy live happily ever.

Yeah I know... whatever’s coming will be both better and worse than anything we can dream up…

Cat will probably be the first one to notice how much Jean enjoys being given gifts. She'll see the shell she picked up for him, carefully placed on his desk somewhere by Renee's picture.

Then, I imagine Laila will return home from getting bubble tea with a fridge magnet just for Jean.

The two will, of course, clue Jeremy in on this Jean fact, not wanting to leave him out of this small but sweet insight.

Only 20 days left until TGR! Here's all my rambling that I couldn't fit on a bingo:

Jean just found out about Elodie's death, Jeremy lost his relationship with his sister, and Lucas is about to lose his brother. I think sibling relationships are gonna be really important in this book. I also hope we get to meet Cat's sister Vivi when she drops off the motorcycle for Jean

So excited for exy with the Trojans! I hope they actually take some of Jean's advice because he's really good at seeing people's strengths and weaknesses. And I hope they interact with other teams more than the Foxes do. It would help Jean see that the Trojans are actually pretty normal and the Ravens are the weird ones. He still thinks it's the other way around

Jean thinks of Kevin as Riko's Queen or the Court's Queen a few times in TSC. Does he see that title as a symbol of independence like Kevin does, or does he see it as Kevin still having a place in Riko's perfect court?

I'm obsessed with the way Jeremy narrates events without telling us a single one of his emotions. Does he miss having his little sister in the audience when he plays a big game? Did he have feelings for any of those boys who were "exactly the kind of guy [he] was prone to trip himself up over"? Why hasn't he dated anyone before? He loves USC because it feels private and safe, so does he not feel that way at home?

I need to know what Jeremy's family did to him. He calls his mother the devil and dislikes his last name and gets angry just at the mention of his step grandfather. It's such an extreme reaction from a guy who barely says anything negative about anyone

I feel like Jeremy's family issues are gonna be too weird for anyone to predict. But I think his part of the story is going to be less about redeeming himself from past mistakes and more about letting his friends support him instead of acting like he's fine all the time

I think Jean might really struggle with holding back when they play against more violent teams. Would suck if it costs him a spot on the starting lineup, but maybe it would be good for him to see that there aren't any consequences for failing to be the best

I think Neil and Andrew might be too busy with Aaron's trial to go with Kevin to California but Jean thinks of them too often for them to not be relevant at some point, whether now or in book 3

I think Jean saying he learned the hard way not to look at another man too long has something to do with Kevin and the incident his freshman year. It's really weird that Riko only told Kevin half of the truth of what happened

"You cannot save me from what came before, and you help neither of us by trying to dig up those graves. Leave Evermore to me and Dobson... Help me survive what comes next.” I hope his friends listen to him about this. And I hope he starts actually talking to Betsy. He seems like he wants to, he's just worried it won't actually help

The way Jean describes the people he loves is so intense. We got some really lovely thoughts about Kevin and Renee from him in TSC, and I can't wait to see how he'll be when he gets to know Jeremy better. I don't think they'll be able to beat "you are a pipe dream" but I'd be thrilled to be proven wrong

Obsessing again about how Jean eventually reveals some more of the horrors of the Nest and his life to Jeremy, Cat, and Laila. Does he accidentally let slip that he was waterboarded? Maybe they're watching a movie together and there's a waterboarding scene and Jean panics. Does he ever tell the Riko forced him to break his own fingers? How does it come out that he was sold to the Moriyamas? Or does he tell them about Elodie and how she was sold first?

Also side question, what does he tell the FBI when they ask why he went to the Moriyamas when he was 14? Especially since I'm sure it will come to light that Elodie was sold. My hypothesis is that he says that he was remarkably good at exy and his parents arranged with Tetsuji to train him (in a perfectly legal way) and that the expectation was that he would have to pay his parents back when he went pro.

My TGR predictions, pt. 3:

Jean finds a stray cat on campus and smuggles it back to his room to take care of it. He has no idea how to care for a cat, and the cat has no idea what the love of a human feels like. They struggle through it together, but Jean just can’t leave it behind. He’s always been the one left behind, and he can’t stand the idea of leaving this poor, tiny creature behind.

Not like he left Elodie.

He names her Elle. Elle turns out to be a boy cat, everyone calls him Elle anyways.

And I think a thing would be learning hey, you did something that hurt and here’s how to go about apologizing and making it right. How to learn and grow and fuck up but it’s not the end of the world, we don’t hate you and we’re still your friends. We’re in this together.
