Andrew. Going on a bit of a Google spree. Talking to Dan. Talking to Bee. Engraving the full encyclopedic knowledge of Curly Hair Care into his mind.

Andrew. Smoking a cigarette. Staring into the distance. Facing this feeling of want that this auburn idiot keeps dredging up. Proposing the idea to Neil.

Neil. Who has never given a single solitary fuck nor wayward damn about the state of his hair in a positive light ever in his life.

Neil. Who reveles in Andrew's touch and attention always. Cherishes and hoards every offering of it. Who sees the haunting of want and is honored to bear witness.

Followed by several thousand words of Fluff chronicling the progress of Andrew tending to Neil's hair (cus Mister 'bandana gets it out of my eyes' Josten certainly won't) and Neil's hair getting oh so soft and oh so shiny and oh so run-your-fingers-through-them-as-you-kiss-me-on-our-roof-able.

Bonus points for post graduation Andreil separation where Neil has to tend to his hair on his own (and fails) leading to Andrew chastising him for ruining all his hard work (and thus creating the perfect excuse for more visits - Andrew has to fix such blasphemous errors, obviously)

Bonus bonus points for a final scene post Separate Pro Teams, first day moved in together in their new apartment, Andrew telling Neil to get settled cus the idiot left him such a mess to clean up and what the fuck did he do all that hard work for if Neil was just gonna fuck it up anyway goddamnit and Neil does get settled, smile wide and fond and content and eyes closing to the feeling of Andrew running gentle fingers through his hair, assessing, reacquainted, reverent, and finally finally Andreil feels once more at home-

Hiiii yes anon I do!! They're most likely referring to the three new bonus chapters that came with the Rainbow Crate special edition. Each chapter is written from a different character's POV (Wymack, Betsy and Aaron) and they each give a lot of insight into scenes and moments that Neil wasn't there to directly witness.

These chapters are exclusive to this edition, but I believe there are free scanned versions you can find online, though I can't seem to find the link to the one I last saw floating around.

this part was honestly so surprising for me because i always assumed aaron has already seen andrew’s scars after the drake scene but apparently not 💔 i wonder how will he react once he finds out…

aftg is eating up my brain so badly, I have a constant stream of ideas and I’m shit at actually writing them but I need to get them out of my system bc it’s suffocating, so:

• an au where king and sir turn out to be shapeshifters so andreil magically acquire two spoiled kids

• andreil saying to each other ‘IU’ instead of ‘I hate you’ or ‘I love you’ or anything else. they use it in every kind of situation bc it’s the testament of how much they feel about each other and that’s more important to them than anything else. they’re fighting? IU (I hate you, I’m scared for you, I’m scared of how much power you have over me, I still want you to stay) they’re having sex? IU (I trust you, I love you, I’m going to take care of you, I’ll make you feel good) they’re breaking down? IU (I’ve got you, I’m here, I’m going to stay, I’m going to help best I can)

• a fic where neil dies in baltimore and we see the aftermath told from his perspective as a ghost: introspection, character study, cannibalism, polaroids, inspired by strangers by ethel cain:

• neil taking great pleasure in buying andrew expensive things and seeing him use them, not out of possessiveness but bc he truly just wants andrew to be happy and taken care of. and andrew learning to accept those gifts bc neil never wants anything in return, not even gratitude

• neil getting drugged at eden’s by some stranger and proceeding to glue himself to andrew’s side. the next day andrew is frustrated by that show of trust and he asks how neil could know that it wasn’t him doing the drugging. to which neil replies that he didn’t know that, but he knew that andrew wouldn’t drug him or let anyone touch him without a good reason. so it was okay, he just needed to trust andrew’s judgement and stick by him. and then andrew realising just how much faith neil has in him and having a breakdown about it

• after neil’s bad days, andrew spoons neil and keeps his hand wrapped around neil’s throat while they’re sleeping. it makes neil feel safe and grounded and makes andrew drunk on trust and control (bonus scene: foxes witnessing this one day and completely failing at understanding their dynamic)

• neil getting into a habit of spitting after his time at the nest bc riko used to spit into his mouth and make him swallow it as a power play. whenever neil remembers it the thought of any spit in his mouth, even his own, makes him sick. so he spits

• whenever aaron is on the edge of relapsing instead of telling anyone he just trails after andrew 24/7 bc he knows his brother won’t let him destroy his life

• tlou au where andrew is traveling the world in search of his twin brother and he’s hired to transport neil somewhere. meanwhile, they fall in love with each other and they find out andrew was supposed to deliver neil into his father’s hands (andrew promised neil safety and he refuses to break his promise so this becomes the first job andrew ever failed)

• andreil breaking up and neil desperately trying to prove to himself that he can move on so he takes the page from andrew’s books and starts sleeping around, but he only succeeds in hurting himself and feeling miserable (they get back in the end bc I need them to be happy)

• OH MY GOD HORNY KANDREIL CLASSICAL MUSIC AU!! kevin (and neil?) playing violin and drew being freakishly good at playing every instrument he ever touches but especially the piano. kev giving a performance and andreil sitting in the first row, neil getting a hard on bc kevin looks so good in his suit, with slightly greying hair combed back and passion burning in his eyes. andrew discretely edging him on, palming neil’s dick through the fancy suit’s material and keeping eye contact with kevin the whole time

AND SO MUCH MORE AAAAAA. this is insufferable, I’m writing fics in my head to fall asleep and then I’m waking up literally quoting aftg (genuinely happened last week, I felt like a lunatic) and then I’m going to uni and I spend every lecture thinking about how I can use my degree to better write about those stupid murderous college athletes. what kind of crack did you put in this series, nora?????

what are you fav types of fics to read? fluff?hurt/comfort?smut?sickfics?aus?

ohhh fuck thats a good question. i think this will sound hilariously like my entire posting history but i love either a good long (40k +) fic, bonus if chaptered, about characters either getting together or working through a specific part of their relationship (and especially if it's about learning how to deal with intimacy and building trust in the sexual sense, though i also love the idea of a fic about characters exploring kink and the kink scene in general)

or a short-ish oneshot exploring an abstract of a character's (or characters) life in one or several little moments. and yeah i'm still human so my favorite trope is hurt/comfort

for aftg specifically i love pros era fics and i especially do so love reading people's exy ocs interacting with the cast of aftg, i also love reading pre-canon stuff like fics that look into wymack and kayleigh or kevin's childhood or neil's time on the run, and i love love love aus of existing media LOL my most indulgent (and most favored) wip right now is a tgcf au for kandreil

AFTG Enemies To Lovers

One of my favorite romance tropes and boy did we REALLY start in the trenches with Andriel. Like I wasn't sure how this ship was going to sail even though I knew it was supposed to Lol

SPOILERS FOR ALL 3 BOOKS IN THIS POST. Skip if you don't want them!!

We really went from like literally NOT liking to trusting each other even a little bit. Fantasizing about violence lol

To liking each other like ALOT ALOT, their first kiss 🥺 no the art is not actually of their first kiss scene but a different one, I know. Lol

Bonus for the found family trope that makes me cry and is one of my favorite parts of this book and is my ultimate trope for a reason lol

Plus the fact that there is legitimately a Canon team cuddle pile in one of their living rooms. Yes, I just finished my reread of the series. Yes, I'm overly emotional about it all right now. Yes, I'll post about something else soon, promise. It's a bookdom day for me.

I meant to sleep but couldn't stop thinking about this so here we go. ANDREW MINYARD:

1. Theres a lot under the surface (and under this break)

"How a man who viewed the world with such studied disconnect could kiss like this, Neil didn't know, but he wasn't going to complain." (TKM)

One day I'll share my essay on surface ppl versus depth ppl but just know Andrew is a depth person.

2. He knows Neil.

Neil asking Andrew how he can stand him after everything:

Neil reached for him, unwilling to let him leave without a real answer.

"No," Andrew said, and Neil's hand froze a breath from Andrew's arm. (TKM)

Maybe also indicative of his understanding of other ppl in general. Analyzes them, never forgets anything. Pretty much always knows what to expect. Neil is the only one who ever really manages to surprise him. But in this moment he knows what Neil will do, and he uses that to demonstrate his point.

Not the most important thing in this scene, which shows how Neil knows and respects Andrew's boundaries. Among other things. But still.

3. He's a self sacrificing asshole who sees things in black and white. Especially his own commitments and what it means to protect someone. Neil explaining to Aaron why Andrew killed Tilda:

"Why he—what? That isn't the same. He didn't do that for me."

"He told me he did," Neil said. "I didn't even have to ask him. He warned her to stop hitting you and she wouldn't. He had no choice but to get rid of her. ...

"Except I lied," Neil said, getting to his feet. "Unlike you, he's not angry that you interfered. I just said that because I needed you to understand." (TRK)

Andrew doesn't get angry, he gets even lol.

4. Bonus. He doesnt get angry, except when he does.... at how much he cares about Neil.

hotel scene:

"I'm sorry," Nathaniel said.

...

"Say it again and I will kill you." (TKM)

Like, is he bluffing? Is he serious? I don't think he'd hurt Neil (death threats are old hat at this pt) but I think it does make him absolutely livid that Neil would put himself in harm's way. Angry at Neil for being a martyr and making him worry, but angry at himself for worrying in the first place. Neil made him renege on his deal, which Andrew never does, but even after that Andrew still cares about him. And then Neil goes and gets himself kidnapped. How! Dare! He!!!!! And how dare Andrew for still wanting to protect this stupid little rabbit. Love him

yeahhhh i will say that aftg is an AMAZING series and i highly recommend it, but be warned that it is indeed VERY heavy. i've read each of the books at least three times each and i STILL have to stop mid-scene sometimes and just. sit there for a moment. and recollect myself before plunging back in because it's That Heavy. don't get me wrong, the books are great!! but they WILL fuck you up

(trigger warnings include stuff like: drug use, tons of violence, murder, homophobia/homophobic slurs, self-harm, psychological and physical abuse, so so SO much trauma for pretty much every character (especially if you read the bonus content because some of the characters' backstories get WAY darker than you'd know by just reading the books), a non-graphic but onscreen rape scene, and disturbingly graphic torture scenes, among a million other things)

the characters are amazing and the plot is wonderfully intense and these books have some of the best found family moments i've ever read and it's just all around an INCREDIBLE series,,,, but please do not go into these books lightly!! know your limits!! take care of yourselves babes!!

Favorite character:  neil unfortunately

Sexiest character:  miss dan wilds if you are free... 

Second favorite character:  robin cross

Least favorite character:  nicky.  at least how he’s written in canon. i think he’s literally just a gay stereotype for most of the first and second book and i found that incredibly frustrating.  that said i adore him and have debated adding him here just so i could do him justice

The character I’m most like:  jeremy knox 100% so-cal himbo energy

Favorite pairing:  is it boring to say neil/andrew?

Least favorite pairing:  i’m not a fan of how thea/kevin was portrayed in canon or just i general how thea was written as the only canon women of color in the entire series. feels bad. 

Favorite moment:  i think about the scene when neil hitch hikes home from columbia a lot, 

Rating out of 10:  10 out of 10 i adore them but definitely not for everyone and really fucking heavy.  also there are some things in it that are very... early 2000s that do not hold up well and probably weren’t great then either.
