Ok ok hear me out: it could end in tragedy,, AND have a happy ending. The attempt(s) on Machete’s life force him to flee, he doesn’t even have the chance to find Vasco. Cue gay longing for at least a few years while Machete despairs over the loss of his love, his life, his status. He and Vasco only reunite (again) in their later years. Their relationship is forever flavored with loss and loneliness, but that only means they savor every moment that much more

I also I would like to see them as old men. Vasco would be so droopy :)

All your Jacob and Bruce posts are making me feral. Do you think Bruce ever fears he's being like Jacob to the kids? Specially to Tim, I think, that came to him at such a low violent point.

Dude. I have such a vision.

Tim Drake is stubbornness embodied. Bruce learns that very quick, because he doesn’t spare the comfort of a choice. He’s there. He’ll be there. Even if Bruce doesn’t want to acknowledge he is.

But it’s so hard. It’s so hard, when Tim prattles about a genius strategy, eyes bright and sharp and everything brilliant, and Bruce has to bite into tongue. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t stop praising him.

It’s so hard when Tim takes a bad fall and Bruce instinctively reaches for the Wonder Woman bandages in his belt. He needs to get rid of those. He hands Tim a first aid kit instead.

Everyone Bruce meets has a contingency plan.

His is Jacob.

Jacob, who’s called for damage control when he feels like slipping. It’s a dangerous thing when Jacob Kane is impressed by you.

Bruce kneels by his uncle’s side, like he did with Martha, when he was a baby, made of softer, better things, and he reeks of grief.

“Two jobs for soldiers in this world,” his uncle says, with his own brand of softness. “Kill and die. They all know it. You have to deal.”

“He wasn’t a soldier,” Bruce’s voice is made of broken glass and bleeding tragedy, “he was my baby. And I couldn’t save him. I couldn’t save him then,” a shuddering breath. “And I can’t save him at all.”

His room, which no one is allowed into, no one aside from his uncle, now, is dead quiet.

Bruce’s voice breaking, trembling, like the words physically collapse when he whispers them, “I should’ve left him there, “ he sobs. “I should’ve left them alone.”

Jacob doesn’t say anything to that. He does pour Bruce a glass cherry Smirnoff. His mother’s favorite.

Bruce doesn’t drink. He drowns the entire cup when Jacob tells him to, thought.

“You should’ve had dogs.”

tw: somewhat flippant conversation about death

Steve returns from a long run one Saturday afternoon to a loud kind of pandemonium in the kitchen.

Hazel is crying, which in and of itself isn’t exactly odd, and Moe and Robbie seem to be trying to tandem-argue between themselves and soothe their younger sister.

Steve looks at Eddie for any kind of clarity. Unfortunately, Eddie seems just as baffled as Steve feels.

“What the hell is going on?” he finally asks.

“Well,” Robbie starts, “Hazel realized that she’s gonna be the last one of us to die.”

Sweet Jesus, Steve thought, because why don’t they get upset about normal shit like shoes or whatever?

“And she’s sad because she’ll go to all our funerals and none of us will be at hers,” Robbie finishes.

Yep, Steve hates that. He hates that so much.

“Hey, I had a solution,” Moe argues, “All three of us can just die at the same time. That’s fair, right?”

Hazel manages a nod.

“Nope,” Steve shook his head, “We���re not talking about this. Let’s move on please.”

For a few blissful moments, the kitchen is quiet aside from Hazel’s occasional sniffles.

When the silence stretches a little too long, Robbie opens her mouth.

“So which one of you is gonna die first and skip out on all the funerals?” she asks, because she’s an instigating monster just like Eddie.

“That’s so rude,” Moe comments as she slings an arm over Hazel’s shoulders and swipes at her tears with the pad of her thumb. She waits a beat and then she adds, “Bet it’ll be Dad.”

“Hey!” Ed protested, sounding like he was actually offended, “Why me?”

“Pop’s, like, way healthier than you.”

“Says who?”

“Says Pop goes on runs and you were all winded getting the mail.”

used to daydream about fairytale reconciliations after pretty much every platonic or romantic fallout i ever had, but sometimes it’s healthier to just accept that someone will never own up bc they don’t think you’re worth the trouble. anyone who truly cares would move mountains just to make sure that they communicate w you if they truly want to rectify the situation. but sometimes it’s their ego getting in the way, sometimes they have a narrative of you in their head they’re determined not to break, and sometimes they just don’t care enough about you to even consider it. they don’t have respect for the friendship or relationship in its posthumous state bc it was nothing to them, or at the very least it doesn’t eclipse their pride or their desire to appear correct in a situation or just outright the need to be done w the situation rather than be a good person. still guilty of this but i’ve been getting better at just nipping the delusion in the bud and just being okay w accepting that someone truly does not care. until they prove they do that is the assumption i go w every time. and it is saving me a lot of heartache

You can make a joke out of it, but it's actually very sweet and thoughtful, Jojo 💖. You're sending messages to Gabby when you've just played a game because her friends and family are in the U.S. and time zones make it difficult for them to do so.

I still can't get over the fact that jayce crying happened after he hallucinated Mel morphing into Viktor, not before like it was shown in the episode. He has no tear stain in the sequence where he looks at them and doesn't look shaken despite apparently crying just before (we know that bc he's literally holding himself the same way). So it makes way more sense in that order narratively.

And it breaks my heart so much. During the whole scene he just keeps having auditory hallucinations about his mistakes and things that went wrong (through Mel, Heimerdinger and himself) and what brings him to tears is seeing Viktor. This is the only moment Jayce is showed "thinking" about him. We don't hear him or see another hallucination. So many regrets and he's there, down that pit, alone, probably thinking he's gonna die. And Viktor is what makes him break into tears. The first and only time we actually see Jayce cry.
