“Y/N, honey, come meet your new friends!”
You rushed down the stairs at your mom’s call - at eight, you were always excited by the idea of new friends. She’d also called Naeun down, but lately, your sister had been acting like doing anything your parents asked her would cost her her life.
There in your living room were four unfamiliar faces, but your parents were smiling warmly, so you weren’t too nervous. Instinctively, you found your mother’s side and she rested her hand on your head, bending down to talk to you.
“Y/N, these are the Lees, they’ve just moved to the neighborhood.”
“Hi,” you greeted shyly, and were met with four hi’s in return.
“Heeseung and Seeun here started going to the same school as you,” she informs, nodding her head towards the young boy and girl. Now that she said it, the boy looked really familiar. You thought you recognized him from school that day - his glasses were definitely memorable. “And Seeun is the exact same age as you!” Your face lit up at that, and her expression mirrored yours as her lips curled into a smile. “Why don’t you show her your room?”
“Sure! Come on,” you said, holding out your hand for Seeun to take. She looked back at her parents who were nodding vigorously at her to follow you. You just played for half-an-hour, and Heeseung joined you quickly, saying he was bored with the adults downstairs. He didn’t talk much, instead found some of your toys to play with in his own corner.
When the Lees left, you were thinking two things: one, you couldn’t wait to tell Chaeyeong about Seeun, and two, that boy with the big glasses was really, really cute.
-
Now
“Seeun, why the hell didn’t you tell us that your brother is a mega-hottie now?!”
This is what your friend Chaeyeong whisper-screams in lieu of a greeting as she barges in Seeun’s room, plopping down on her bed like it was her own. It might as well have been, considering how long the three of you had known each other.
“If you ever refer to my brother as a mega-hottie again, I’m terminating this friendship,” Seeun replies, not bothering to look up from the bead bracelet she was currently making.
“Oh please, just because you’re his sister doesn’t mean you haven’t noticed how attractive he’s gotten,” Chaeyeong insists, but it just makes Seeun scrunch her nose in disgust.
“Chaeyeong, please stop making it so obvious you’re an only child,” Seeun sighs. You let out a giggle at your friends’ conversation as you search for another color that could go well with the pink beads you’d chosen for your own bracelet.
Stealthily, Chaeyeong leaves her spot on the bed and sneaks up to you. “Y/N!” she exclaims suddenly, wrapping her arms around your shoulders in a sneak-attack hug that makes you yelp. It makes you drop your half-finished bracelet, the beads falling all over the carpeted floor around you. You look up at Chaeyeong with a pout, but she just smiles at you and starts picking up the beads, gathering the tiny pink jewels in the palm of her hand.
“Y/N, you’re with me on this one, aren’t you?”
You ignore Seeun’s side-eye and give in to Chaeyeong’s encouraging expression. “I guess he does look very…” you pause to carefully consider your word choice. “Different,” you settle on.
“Different? That’s it? Y/N, you should really consider getting some glasses, seeing how you’re so blind to hot boys.” Cue a loud groan, Seeun’s courtesy. You just giggle again, slightly shaking your head at Chaeyeong’s antics. She rolled her eyes, disappointed that you didn’t back her up, but she drops the subject and switches to Seeun’s upcoming birthday party. Something great about being generally quiet? People don’t question it when you don’t partake much in a conversation. You listen and laugh as your friends bicker, but your mind is on something else.
Or rather, it’s on someone else.
Because Chaeyeong is absolutely right - Seeun’s brother has glowed up so much during his time away at university that you had a double-take when he opened the door for you earlier.
The sentence this is so unfair plays over and over in your head.
You’d heard of the freshman fifteen, of college first-years being so stressed over grades and having so little time that their diet consisted of instant ramen, quick cafeteria lunches, and an ungodly amount of coffee. And alcohol, on Friday nights, of course. After seeing how freshman year treated your older sister, you were dreading going to college, imagining it to be the complete opposite of what TV and movies had shown you.
So how the hell had Lee Heeseung gone from high school loser to campus hearthrob in the span of a mere nine months? (After some thinking, you realized that, well, if a woman can create a whole human being in nine months, maybe a regular guy can undergo great physical and mental change in that time, too.)
In September, when you’d last seen him, he wore the same glasses he had for all of high school - those slightly crooked ones that made his eyes look even bigger than they already were. He always had to push them back up his nose but he never bothered to get them fixed, even though all they needed was for the arms to be tightened. You remember his tic-like habit of readjusting his glasses, a habit so strong that he did it even when he wasn’t wearing them. Maybe they bothered him so much that he decided to get rid of them once and for all, you guess.
Indeed, when he greeted you at his front door earlier (even after years of knowing Seeun and her family and no matter how much they reassure you that it’s okay, you’re unable to come in without knocking first, like Chaeyeong does), he wasn’t wearing his thick lenses you’d grown fond of. His eyes didn’t look unfocused like they usually would without glasses, so you assumed he’d switched to contact lenses - you knew it wasn’t Lasik surgery, because Seeun was always complaining that her parents wouldn’t pay for her or her brother to receive it.
But it wasn’t just the glasses, of course not. There was an ease and confidence about him that he didn’t have before - no awkward giggles, no darting eyes, no weirdly positioned limbs. He held the door open for you and kept his eyes on you as you walked in, saying it was nice to see you again and asking if you were happy to be done with high school. You already weren’t expecting Heeseung to open the door in Seeun’s stead, so him actually looking at you while he spoke instead of mumbling a few words in your general direction and scratching the back of his neck rendered you completely flustered, cheeks heating up embarrassingly quickly.
His hair was different: it used to sit there atop Heeseung’s head, unsure what to do with itself, but now it was purposefully cut and slightly pushed back. When he turned his head, you saw something shiny dangling from his left ear.
Heeseung had a piercing. Shy, nervous, fidgety electronics club president Heeseung had a goddamn piercing, and it looked amazing.
And then he laughed. He actually had the audacity to laugh, and then ruffle your hair. You could’ve died right then and there. “You’re still just as cute as before,” he mused, beaming down at you. Then he walked away towards the living room, saying Seeun was in her room upstairs. As if nothing happened. As if you weren’t on the verge of combusting, your saving grace being your friend’s voice calling out your name. You ran up the stairs, wanting to get as far away from Heeseung and his smile and his voice and his touch as possible. You busied yourself with the pearls and the small bracelet-making station Seeun had organized, trying not to think about the vein that ran down his forearm or about how his shoulders looked wider than before. And you’d managed to do that, until Chaeyeong brought him up.
It wasn’t unfair because he’d grown mysteriously hot - it was unfair because to you, Heeseung had always been the cutest boy around, but now other people had surely noticed too, Chaeyeong amongst them. Now, you were just one of the many girls that had a crush on Heeseung, even if yours dated back to the first time you’d met him when the Lees moved into the neighborhood.
Their parents had been delighted that two girls of their daughter’s age - eight, to be precise - lived on their street. You were delighted that the cute boy you’d seen at school that day was her big brother, just one year older. Chaeyeong and you gladly welcomed Seeun into your friendship and you had each other’s back through the awkward phases of your early teenage years and the stressful times as high school seniors getting ready for college. You shared everything - clothes, jewelry, homework answers, gossip, tears, laughter. Secrets.
You liked to think there wasn’t a thing you didn’t know about them, but you couldn’t say the opposite was true - there was a secret you had to keep from them. A secret that grew bigger and bigger as time passed, but that you needed to keep locked in.
You had the biggest crush known to mankind on your best friend’s brother. It was either keep quiet or tell both of your friends; you trusted Chaeyeong, but you didn’t want her to carry that burden. You had no idea what Seeun’s reaction would be if you admitted you liked her brother, but you didn’t want to risk it. Every best friend’s brother (or brother’s best friend) romance you’d read had told you that the former was always against and deeply disgusted by the idea of their friend dating the latter. The last thing you wanted to do was make things weird, so you said nothing and suffered in silence, as one does. And so, for years, Heeseung was your little secret.
But not anymore, apparently. And it felt unfair. You didn’t have much of a chance to begin with, but now, getting with Heeseung was inimaginable. You’d just have to continue pining from far away, just as you’d gotten used to.

Four years ago
Your heart pounded as you made your way to the bus stop, steps heavy and head full of thoughts. Even though your older sister told you there’s nothing to worry about, you couldn’t help it. You were used to walking to school, not taking the bus. After three years of seeing the same people roaming the hallways, it was nerve-wracking to arrive at a place where most faces would be completely unfamiliar. You didn’t know what your teachers would be like, you were scared your classes would be a hundred times harder than before, you heard the cafeteria food was really bad. In short, you were absolutely dreading high school. And today was your first day.
The only thing that calmed you down was knowing that in a few minutes, you’d be with Seeun and Chaeyeong, and just seeing them would make you feel instantly better. You were meeting at the bus stop.
But when you reached it, neither of your friends were there. You shouldn’t have been surprised, since you’d come ten minutes early, but you couldn’t help but feel slightly disappointed. That is, until you recognized someone else.
“Heeseung?” you called out before you could stop yourself. The boy snapped his head in your direction, and his eyes widened at the sight of you. Simple things like that made your heart burst with adoration for him.
“Oh, h-hi, Y/N.” He smiled the shy smile you loved so much and looked back at his feet, holding on tightly to the straps of his backpack. You stood next to him, close enough to have a conversation if he wanted to but not so close that it’d be weird.
Heeseung was the only person you felt awkward around. Even though you were on the quieter side and strangers weren’t your favorite people per se, being around people you didn’t know well wasn’t your definition of torture like it seemed to be for Heeseung and other kids from your school. But Heeseung’s awkwardness was contagious, and your crush on him didn’t help your ease of mind - so you imitated his posture, swaying back and forth on your feet as you held onto your backpack straps just to have something to hold onto. You smiled at the ground, not wanting to make him uncomfortable by looking at him, but that meant you missed the growing blush on his cheeks.
“So,” he started, “nervous?” He glanced quickly, just once, at you. You were so surprised at his breaking the silence, used to a quiet Heeseung, that you forgot to answer, simply staring at him. His panicked expression and mumblings were what jolted you out of your daze. “I-I mean, you know, cause it’s your first day and everything, and I was really nervous last year- I am today, too, actually- so I thought maybe, you know, you’re nervous too, but maybe you’re not, I don’t-”
He said all of this so quickly, you started laughing, slightly bending over. He let out a chuckle too, but as you continued laughing, a pout started to form on his lips. “What’s so funny…” you heard him grumble as he kicked a non-existent pebble.
“Sorry,” you said, regaining your breath. “I’m sorry, Heeseung.” The sound of his name made him glance at you again. You wished you could kiss the pout off his lips. “I was nervous, actually. But I feel better now.”
A quick smile appeared on his lips, but he willed it away. “I’m glad my embarrassment made you feel better,” he sighed.
You gently kicked his shoe with yours to make him look at you. “No, it’s because you made me laugh. I needed it. Thanks,” you corrected with a smile. Heeseung may have made you feel awkward, but the easiness with which he always got flustered made you love to tease him slightly.
His smile widened as he looked away once more, the blush having spread to his whole face by then. “Whatever,” he murmured. There was no time to say anything else because Seeun called out your name, practically skipping towards you.
She gave you an excited hug as a greeting before turning towards her brother with a glare, punching him hard on the bicep, making him wince in pain and reach his hand to cover his arm where she hit him. “Thanks for waiting for me, loser.”
“You were gonna make us late!” he whined, rubbing his arm.
“Yeah, ‘cause I obviously missed the bus,” she tutted.
You watched the siblings with an amused smile, used to the exact same kind of banter at home. Your sister, who was in her last year of high school, had decided not to drive you for some reason only an older sister could make up and pretend was reasonable. Your parents had tried to convince her, but you didn’t mind taking the bus with your friends, so they didn’t push it, just glad they could somehow keep the both of you happy.
Heeseung didn’t say anything in return. Your eyes met for a moment, and his frown relaxed into a smile when he caught your expression. It lasted a second but it was enough to make your stomach twist. Seeun, oblivious, grabbed your arm and started telling you about all the things she was excited about for today. You were worried Chaeyeong wasn’t going to make it, but her footsteps were loud as she ran, reaching you just as the bus stopped in front of you. Heeseung took what you soon found out was his usual spot at the front of the bus while your friends dragged you towards the back of it. You tried not to let your thoughts drift towards the boy with the messy black hair and crooked glasses, but his shy smile replayed in your mind all day. For a year, you’d gotten used to not going to the same school as him - you didn’t know how you’d survive seeing him at least five days a week once again.
-
Now
You were really determined to not let Heeseung’s newfound confidence sway you, physically shaking your head every time a thought of him popped in your head (useless) and racking your brain for reasons you shouldn’t like him (not many of those). There was just one teeny, tiny problem.
He was making it impossible to pine for him at a distance.
It seemed like everywhere you went, he was there. Maybe that was due to the fact that your most frequently visited place was literally his house, but still. It was frustrating. You didn’t need to be met with his stupid smile whenever he opened the door for you, you didn’t need to catch him cutely napping - how was that even possible?! - in the living room, a random sitcom still playing on the TV, you didn’t need to hear his laughter when his friends were over, and you definitely did not need to see him half-naked as he came out of the bathroom, hair wet from the shower and sticking to his forehead, towel wrapped low around his hips and his abs fully on display. Because of course, you had to be in the hallway, heading to the kitchen to get a glass of water, at the exact same time as him.
You almost start to resent the fact that Seeun had the comfiest bedroom out of the three of you, as well as the most snack-filled house, which was why you had decided years ago to hang out there the most. Especially during school breaks, you were there almost every day, so you were bound to see Heeseung a lot. But for some reason, that didn’t seem to be enough, and over the course of June, you also ran into him while shoe-shopping with your mom, then another time as you entered the public library just when he left it, and another when your friends and his had decided to get ice cream at the same time. It was like you couldn’t escape him.
The worst part? Every time he saw you, while you simultaneously wanted to run away from him and into his arms, his damnedly handsome face broke into a stupidly beautiful smile that looked far too genuine for your heart. “Y/N! Funny seeing you here!”
No, Heeseung, not funny.
You didn’t want to be that girl whose brain cells stopped working whenever she encountered an attractive male specimen, but that was apparently who you were meant to be, because all words left you when you saw Heeseung. Although you’d been somewhat flustered around him in the past, he was always much more so than you, which reassured you and gave you enough confidence to actually talk to him. But now that he had realized how handsome he was and was clearly using that newfound knowledge against you (or so you thought), you were unable to string a coherent sentence when his shiny eyes bore into yours.
You think he might’ve sensed your awkwardness, because he never lingered, never made useless small talk, just asked about your favorite ice cream flavor or the book he’d checked out, patted your head, then was on his way.
There were so many butterflies in your stomach, you were scared it might fly away.
One afternoon in the middle of July, you and your friends come back from the city pool completely exhausted after playing around for hours in the water. All bundled up and close together, you try to nap on Seeun’s bed. Keyword try, because even though your friends’ soft snores quickly start to fill the silence of the room, you can’t seem to fall asleep, no matter how heavy your eyes feel.
Quietly, you get out of bed and head downstairs to the kitchen, hoping a cold glass of water will help sleep come to you like it usually does. You shouldn’t be surprised to see Heeseung in the dining room/kitchen area, busy with a puzzle, the pieces of which he’s spread out all over the table, but your heart still does a flip. He must be really engrossed in it, because he doesn’t notice your presence in the room until you fill a glass with ice, the sudden sound making his head snap up at you. You hate that his face breaks into a grin as soon as he sees you.
“Oh, hey, Y/N! What are you doing?”
“Just getting some water,” you explain, raising your glass with a small smile. Your whole body tells you to run away, back to Seeun’s bedroom, but something in your gut tells you to stay, to get closer to Heeseung. So you do. “What about you?” you ask, slowly making your way towards the table and peering at the puzzle in progress.
“Just whipping up some brownies,” he retorts with a devilish smirk, big eyes looking up at you.
You fight back a smile in vain. “Shut up,” you mumble, but take a seat next to him anyway. He seems slightly taken aback by the sudden proximity, and you are too, but you keep your gaze focused on the puzzle in front of you so that you can’t think too much about how close you’re sitting, and how your knees could touch if you angled them just so.
For a small while you sit in silence, watching as he puts pieces together and even finding a couple of your own. It’s a one-thousand piece jigsaw that he’s clearly only just started, but Heeseung doesn’t seem fazed by that. You like seeing how his eyebrows slightly furrow when he’s searching for a particular piece, and the pleased smirk that graces his lips when he finds it. You break the silence after a few minutes.
“So you still like puzzles, then?” you ask, voice low. You’ve always been told you speak quietly - even too quietly sometimes, but you can’t always help it. Especially in situations like this, when it’s silent around you anyways, you don’t see the point of raising your voice. When Heeseung replies, he speaks at the same volume as you, and there’s something comforting about it, about speaking quietly in such a spacious and sunlit room - the words you share are for you two, and you two only.
“Yep, ever since that day.” He glances quickly at you and smiles at the piece in his hand, and it’s like getting a glimpse of the Heeseung you had known all those years. Your heart warms at the sight.
“That day?”
This makes him look properly at you, his eyes darting back and forth between yours as if searching for something there. Your heart is now on fire. “Don’t you remember?”
You tilt your head in response and he turns his attention back to the puzzle. “It was at this table, too. I think your grandparents- your grandma, I think? Anyway, someone had gotten you a puzzle for your birthday.”
You ‘ah’ in realization. “Of course!”
Two years ago
“Y/N, I’m sorry, I don’t think I can do this, it’s so complicated,” Seeun pouted apologetically, looking at you sadly. “We’ve been here like an hour and we’ve barely gotten anywhere.”
Chaeyeong, head on the table, groaned in agreement. You followed your friend’s gaze to the puzzle in front of you - she was right, you hadn’t made much progress. But you liked it. The picture was pretty and you’d like to see it completed, but more than that, you liked finding the right piece, figuring out strategies.
You hummed, mirroring Seeun’s pout. Chaeyeong snapped her head back up to look at you. You’d think she hadn’t slept in days, but that was just bored Chaeyeong. You loved your friend and her over-dramatic antics. “Can we just take a break?” she asked, tone like you’d kidnapped and forced her to do this.
“You guys go ahead.” You smiled. “I like it, I can just continue this for a while and you guys do whatever you want.” The three of you spent so much time together that you didn’t need to be doing an activity together to be happy - being in each other’s general vicinity was enough to be considered a hang-out.
“You sure?” Seeun asked.
“Yeah, ‘course.” You chuckled at the obvious relief on your friend’s faces. “Just don’t watch the next Extraordinary You episode without me, okay?”
They both gasped and clutched their hearts like you’d accused them of murder. “How could you even think that, Y/N?!” Chaeyeong exclaimed.
“We would never!” Seeun added.
You shook your head at your friends’ antics, laughing as you waved them off. “Just go, already.”
“Yes, ma’am!” And with that, they were off, running up the stairs to Seeun’s bedroom.
You were only on your own for around ten minutes - the front door opened and closed, and the quiet shuffle of shoes being taken off and replaced with slippers let you know Heeseung had just come home. Seeun always made a show of being exhausted after school, groaning as she threw her backpack to the ground, while Mr and Mrs Lee always announced their arrival with a sometimes cheery, sometimes tired ‘I’m home!’. But Heeseung, quiet as always, simply set his backpack next to the stairs, slipped into his slippers and made his way to the kitchen, fond of a quick snack after school. Even Chaeyeong made herself more known when she entered the Lee household.
Every day except for Fridays, he came home two hours later than his sister because of either magic or electronics club (yes, magic club. It was cute, okay?!). You always looked forward to the monthly meeting of the book club you were in, partly because it meant you could take the bus back with Heeseung afterwards. Even if the ride was usually mainly silent, just sitting next to him was enough for your heart to do all sorts of tricks worthy of an Olympic gymnast.
“Oh, hey, Y/N,” he greeted softly, probably surprised at seeing you alone at the dinner table.
“Hi, Heeseung. How was the electronics club?” You wanted to make conversation, but you winced immediately at your words - was it normal for you to know what club he had on what days?
But Heeseung seemed to pay it no mind, just smiling shyly, a blush already creeping on his cheeks. “It was nice, thanks.” He opened the fridge, taking out a carton of milk. “Do you want a glass?” When you didn’t respond immediately, he was quick to add, “Of milk? O-or orange juice? Or I can make some tea, if you want-”
His hands were already busy with preparing whatever drink he thought you might want. You held back a chuckle and smiled as you answered, “Milk is fine, thanks.”
His blush spread all the way down his neck and you turned your attention back to the puzzle so he wouldn’t see your grin. “Right, milk. Milk,” he stammered, then got two glasses out of the cupboard.
You loved moments like these with Heeseung - flustered, light-hearted, slightly awkward, moments that made you want to giggle out of nerves and delight. Basically every moment with him was like this, so it’d be more accurate to say you loved every moment with him.
“I didn’t know you liked puzzles,” he said, an upward tilt to his voice, as he set your glass next to you and took a seat across from you. He peered down at the pieces spread out in front of you, fixed his glasses on his nose, and took a big gulp of milk.
“I didn’t either,” you said with a chuckle, and stammered out an explanation when he looked up at you questioningly. “My, um, my grandma gave this to me for my birthday last month. She’s got a lot of grandkids, you know, and I think she might’ve mixed up my other cousin who likes puzzles and me…” Heeseung nods slowly, the corners of his lips tugging up in amusement. “But I don’t mind it,” you add, “I’m having fun, actually. Seeun and Chaeyeong are of a different mind, though. It’s a bit hard doing it on my own but I like it anyway.”
“I can help you,” he suddenly blurted out, and he looked just as surprised at his words as you were. “If you want.”
You smiled at him, and Heeseung and you actually looked at each other, actually held eye contact for three seconds, until you felt your face burn and had to look away. “Sure, yeah, that’d be nice.”
Although it took some time to finish the puzzle - putting 500 pieces together was a lot trickier than you thought it’d be - Heeseung and you managed to do it, high fiving celebratorily after almost two hours of hard work.
Now
“I just had a lot of fun that day.” Heeseung shrugs. “Plus, I already liked things like Legos and Rubik’s cubes, so it made sense I’d like puzzles, too.”
You nod in response, watching as he twirls a puzzle piece between his thumb and middle finger. “It’s funny that my grandma’s mistake is what made you discover your love for puzzles.”
Heeseung chuckles along with you, and you’re relieved the atmosphere is somewhat lighter than before until he looks straight into your eyes, locking your gaze in his own, and a breath gets trapped in your throat. “I’m glad she did that, otherwise we wouldn’t be here right now.”
You’re still staring at him, dumbfounded, mouth agape, when he looks away with a smirk and turns his attention back to the puzzle, analyzing it seriously as if nothing happened. You come back to your senses after a few seconds, clearing your throat before imitating Heeseung and trying to focus on the puzzle once again. But that’s hard to do when your hands brush ever-so-slightly every time you fumble around the pile for a particular piece, or every time he hits your knee with his, inadvertently or to tease you, you’re not sure.
The first thing to do when starting a puzzle is looking for all the side pieces to build the frame. When Heeseung spots one in the pile next to you, he leans in to grab it, and he’s suddenly close enough for you to get a whiff of his cologne that had faded over the day. You think he’ll just take the piece and sit back in his seat, but instead, he turns his head towards you, and that’s when you realize just how close you are. Close enough that it wouldn’t be hard to close the gap and have your lips on his - just as the thought hits you, his eyes drift down to your parted lips. Is he thinking the same thing?
You take a sharp breath in, eyes fixed on Heeseung, mind racing with thoughts and assumptions of what might be going through his head right now. But your brain goes haywire when a smirk blooms on his lips, clearly enjoying your reaction. His gaze finds your eyes once more and he raises the piece between the two of you, in the small space that separates you. “Got it,” he says quietly, voice lower than usual. It makes your insides melt. He could be very well talking about you - he’s got you absolutely wrapped around his finger, and he seems to know it.
He turns back to the puzzle, smirk still on his lips, and you’re so embarrassed and confused that your flight instinct kicks in. The screech of your chair as you push it back and stand up makes Heeseung look up at you again, his smirk having dissolved in surprise and - disappointment?
No time to ponder, you need to get. out. of. here.
“Right, well, that was fun, haha,” you breathe out, actually saying the word ‘haha’ and wanting to run away even more thereafter. “I should probably head back to the girls, now.” You’re already backing up and walking away when Heeseung calls out your name, but you just turn around and rush back upstairs, yelling out a small “bye, Heeseung!” on your way.
You’re already back in Seeun’s bedroom when Heeseung shakes his head at your sudden disappearance, an amused smile playing on his lips. “Cute,” he says under his breath.
-
To minimize any chances of running into Heeseung, over the next two weeks, you ask Chaeyeong and Seeun if you could hang out at your house more often, using the excuse that you want to spend as much time as possible there before leaving off to college. They don’t question it too much - next year, they’ll be able to come back fairly regularly to their parent’s houses, since the college they’re going to is less than an hour-long car ride away, but you’ll be further away, too far to come back home often.
It just so happens to be the university Heeseung is studying at, but you don’t need to worry about that right now. They had one of the best English Lit programs in your area and you’d been wanting to go there for all of your high school years - you used to think of Heeseung’s going there as a pro, but right now, it felt more like a con.
You manage to only run into him twice over the course of those two weeks, and both times, just in passing. But now it’s the night of Seeun’s birthday party and it’s impossible to pretend he isn’t there even when you’re in a crowded room together. Heeseung and Seeun’s parents have lended their house for their kids to have a party there, using it as an opportunity to have a date night, and Heeseung and his friends have graciously provided a big portion of the alcohol, saying it was their birthday gift.
You aren’t the biggest fan of alcohol, so you opt for the fruitier, lighter drinks, but still, two hours after the party starts, you can already feel your head start to spin, your voice is louder, everything makes you laugh. When a friend from school tells you they’re playing seven minutes in heaven in the hallway upstairs, you think that's the funniest thing you’ve ever heard and immediately agree to join.
The sight of Heeseung sitting in the circle, already looking at you with a lopsided smile, almost sobers you up completely.
You’d tried to avoid him as best as you could, but it was like you couldn’t escape him - maybe that was due to the fact that the heart of the party was kept to the kitchen and the living room, just a few people sitting on the stairs at the entrance to get away from the noise, but still, it annoyed you to no end that you had to keep seeing him everywhere. Maybe that was also what made the alcohol easier to down.
At some point, you were in the kitchen, doing a shot of God-knows-what with girls from school. You heard his voice before you saw him, and it made you roll your eyes but also your heart skip a beat. “Didn’t know you were such a drinker, Y/N.” You could hear the smirk in his voice, and when his face came into view, you wanted to slap it away. Or kiss it away, maybe.
“I’m not, I’m just trying to have fun,” you retorted, eyebrows slightly furrowed as you poured yourself another shot. I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas started playing in the next room and the girls shrieked before rushing to the made-up dancefloor. You wanted to join them, but something kept your feet firmly planted at the kitchen counter.
Before you could bring the shot glass to your lips, however, Heeseung stole it from you and downed it himself. “Hey!” you protested, but it was done, and he was scrunching his nose at the bitter taste, shaking his head. You wished he could stop being attractive for one damn second.
“You don’t need that to have fun.”
He placed his forearms on the kitchen counter and leaned on them, forcing him to look up at you. You had no idea what the hell he meant by that, nor did you want to try and figure it out - all you knew was that you couldn’t stay there with him when he looked at you so intently, cheeks flushed from the alcohol, hair perfectly disheveled and biceps apparent even under his t-shirt sleeves.
“You’re right, I don’t,” you made yourself say, and spun on your heels to join your friends on the dancefloor.
And a few drinks later, here you are, sitting in a circle on the hallway floor, Heeseung right in front of you, leaning back on his palms and looking down at you with that same stupid smirk once again.
The game goes as such: one person spins the bottle twice, and the people it lands on have to go to a bedroom closet for seven minutes (timed carefully by Jake, Heeseung’s friend who is taking this game very seriously) to do whatever they want, while the others occupy themselves with other games. When the seven minutes are up, the doors burst open, and you have to leave the closet.
And because it wouldn’t be any fun otherwise, after a few rounds, the bottle points straight at you, then straight at Heeseung, and before you know it, everyone except for Seeun is cheering, and Heeseung is holding out his hand for you to take, and you do, and he raises you up, and together, you head to his closet, as per the rules of this stupid middle-school game you should never have agreed to play in the first place. You can barely Seeun’s voice as she shouts, “Y/N, I trust you!”, which just makes Chaeyeong burst into laughter and whoop louder for you. You’d also barely registered Heeseung’s friends clapping each other’s backs, smiling like they were in on something.
The sound of the closet door shutting is what snaps you out of your daze. You hadn’t even realized Heeseung had kept your hand in his until he released it, leaning his back against one wall of the closet, facing you. All three bedrooms in the Lees’ house had built-in walk-in closets which meant you weren’t sandwiched between Heeseung and his clothes, but still, you wished you could put more distance between your two bodies - one step closer, and you were done for.
It wasn’t just Heeseung’s presence in the narrow space - it was his scent filling your nostrils, the combined smell of the cologne he was wearing, of the fabric softener on his clothes, and an unfamiliar scent you somehow recognized as unique to Heeseung, his skin, his hair, smells you’d wanted to discover for years but never got close enough to. Well, now you did. And it was intoxicating - you wanted more, wanted to bury your face in the crook of his neck and inhale. You wanted to know what his reaction would be, if he’d let you, if he’d push you away.
All those thoughts were running wild in your head. You didn’t know what to do with yourself. Your stomach was in messy knots, your hands were sweaty and you had no idea where to place them, your eyes wouldn’t stop darting around the dark room. Everywhere but Heeseung. You could feel his eyes on you, but you were too nervous to meet them.
Your breathing must’ve gotten loud enough for him to hear, because all of a sudden, you feel his hand take yours, and he’s stood up from his position against the wall, his body too close to yours for your heart to handle. His thumb rubs what he must think are comforting semi-circles on the back of your hand, but the touch just destroys any capability of thinking straight you had left.
“Y/N,” he calls out, and the sound of his voice makes your eyes close shut. You cannot give in. You had seen Seeun’s disgusted expression when you and Heeseung were picked for the game - if just the idea of you and her brother kissing repulses her, what would she say if she knew it actually happened, or if you started dating? You may have the biggest crush ever on Heeseung, but no one was worth losing your friendship with Seeun.
“Calm down,” he says, and you wish you could be as steady as his voice. “There’s no reason to be nervous.”
This makes you scoff. “You touching me is not helping my nervousness.” The words are out before you can stop them, and in the darkness of the room, you have to concentrate to make out the tilt of Heeseung’s head. You don’t need to see it to know he’s smiling, the satisfied smirk that has been gracing his features for the past month and a half.
“Yeah? Why is that?”
You take your hand out of Heeseung’s and cross your arms over your chest. “You know why,” you say, not intending your voice to come out as weak as it does.
Heeseung takes another step closer to you, and the only ray of light that comes through the panels of the closet door hits his face, making it visible for you to see. “I do, but I want you to tell me.” Another step, making you back up until you hit the wall behind you.
You call out his name shakily. His lips are right in front of you at this point, and you can’t not look at them.
He places a hand delicately on your waist, as if not wanting to scare you off. “Yeah?” He’s so close now that you can feel his breath fanning on your lips.
“We shouldn’t do this,” you say, and finally, your voice is strong like you want it to - but Heeseung isn’t deterred by it.
“Do what?” he asks, pretending to be stupid. “We haven’t done anything. Not yet.” He adds the last part in a whisper, his eyes drifting down to your lips, and you can feel your resolve crumbling piece by piece, the opposite of completing a puzzle.
“You know what I’m talking about,” you whisper back, voice almost pleading with him. Stop this before it’s too late, you want to tell him, but for some reason, at this point, you’re more scared of nothing happening than something happening.
“I do, but I want you to tell me,” he repeats, and you can’t help but let out a chuckle. Laughing helps relieve the tension, but it’s back as quickly as it left when his hold on your waist gets tighter, bringing you closer to him. Your hands that had fallen to your side come up to grab the sides of his t-shirt, gathering the fabric in your fists. There’s no going back now, you can tell - you wait for Heeseung to make a move, both dreading it and craving the relief that will come with it.
Heeseung’s free hand comes up to your face, and he traces your jawline with a knuckle before taking your chin in two of his fingers, gently raising it so that your face is angled up towards him. His touch makes your skin burn and takes away your ability to breathe properly.
“We shouldn’t do this,” you repeat, voice barely audible, a weak and half-hearted attempt at stopping this now that you still can.
“No, we shouldn’t,” he agrees, and before you can say or do anything else, Heeseung presses his lips to yours, finally, finally.
His lips are just as soft as you’d expected them to be, and the kiss is light, slow, careful. You’re grateful for it, because you’re not a very experienced kisser - if Heeseung had plunged his tongue directly into your mouth, you wouldn’t have known what to do. It’s almost like he knows this, like he’s giving you time to figure it out, to get used to it. His hand snakes its way to the small of your back, pressing you closer to him, while the other cups your cheek with his palm. You, on the other hand, have completely forgotten about your hands, only able to focus on where your lips meet.
It’s easy to fall into Heeseung’s rhythm, to let him take control of the kiss. But maybe it’s too easy, because soon enough, you start to want more - as amazing as this is right now, a slow kiss like this is not enough to have dissolved the tension in your body. You remember your hands and inch them up to his hair, your fingers finding purchase there and slightly pulling as you open your mouth just a bit wider, hoping Heeseung will get the message.
For a second, you think you’ve got it all wrong - Heeseung pulls back an inch, peering down at you. You’re both breathing heavily, and you’re scared you might have gone too far. But then, he murmurs a small fuck under his breath, and just like that, his lips are back on yours, your back is pressed against the wall again, his body encaging your smaller one. The kiss now is nothing like it was seconds ago - it’s turned hungry, hot, messy. You love it.
You had no idea you would want to kiss Heeseung like this, but now that you were doing it, you couldn’t get enough. The intensity with which he held you, the feel of his tongue against yours, the small groans that escaped his lips every time you pulled on his hair, it was all making you more drunk than the alcohol had.
You swear you haven’t even been kissing for two minutes, but then, all of a sudden, the doors are snapped open, and light pours in the closet, and Heeseung’s lips aren’t on yours anymore. You hadn’t heard the timer go off, too engrossed in Heeseung to pay anything else any mind. When you turn your head, Chaeyeong and Jake are staring at you and Heeseung, mouths wide open and eyes darting back and forth between the two of you.
“Oh. My. God,” Chaeyeong says, while Jake starts laughing. A shy smile appears on Heeseung’s lips, even plumper and pinker than usual from your kiss. His hair is a mess, and you’re sure you don’t look too different. He scratches the back of his neck, and you can’t believe this sheepish boy is the same that was kissing you roughly not a minute ago.
“Chaeyeong,” you cry out, voice already pleading as you take a step out of the closet and take both of her hands in yours. “Seeun can’t know about this.” She raises her eyebrows in surprise but nods her head in agreement, and you’ve never been so thankful for your friend as now.
“Would she really mind?” Jake asks, looking at you, then at his friend. You turn to look at Heeseung behind you, who purses his lips.
“I’m not sure, but I have a feeling she would… She’s always told me she didn't want me hanging out with her friends,” Heeseung says, and you and Chaeyeong exchange a look; this was news to both of you.
You have no further time to discuss it, however, because Seeun’s voice calling out your name and Heeseung’s make all four of you widen your eyes. Chaeyeong fixes your clothes and hair as best as she can, then smiles at you reassuringly and nods, prompting you to imitate her. She ushers Heeseung into his bathroom and tells him to “freshen up or whatever,” and you, Jake and Chaeyeong leave the room just as Seeun reaches the door.
“Where’s Heeseung?” she asks, not a trace of suspicion in her voice, peering behind you into her brother’s dark room.
“Just needed the toilet,” Jake answers quickly, and that seems to convince her.
She turns to you, an amused expression on her face. “Hope that wasn’t too awkward.”
You’re so surprised at your friend’s quickness to assume that nothing could happen between you and her brother, as if the idea was truly unfathomable to her, but you figure it’s for the best. You all head back into the party, Heeseung appearing some five minutes later. He scans the room for you, and when you make eye contact from across the crowded living room, he smiles, his shy, genuine smile that you’d fallen in love with all those years ago.
You already miss him, you realize, his lips, his touch, his scent. That’s how you know that you’re in deep, deep shit.

a/n: Baji might be a liiiittle ooc, but I like the idea of exploring that he is a 14y/o boy with emotions and he is allowed to feel them:(
Before! › here! › after!
⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯✦
The door slammed open with an aggressive thud, announcing the pair of delinquents had made it home safely.
“Finally! You’re too slow!” The mother of the house, Ryoko, yelled in greeting.
“Whatever.”
Everyone had froze at the unexpected reply, spoken with such depth and looked away, aiming straight for the kitchen to bring in his half of the groceries.
Ryoko almost blew her lid, but before she could scold Keisuke for the unnecessary attitude he gave her, Chifuyu signaled exaggeratedly for her to let it go.
Finding this unusual, Ryoko rose a brow, and grumbled about him being a brat under her breath. You, friend and tutor to Keisuke, seated on a floor pillow that you’d taken a particular fondness towards, also grew an expression of concern when the mood became awkward.
Chifuyu had accidentally set off a landmine before they entered the apartment, that of which being the reason for their tardy.
He gave a sympathetic smile, before following Keisuke into the kitchen to drop off the groceries.
“Keii~ bring me a cold beer when you get in here!” Mama Baji hollered across the room to reach him. “Fine,” he grunted in reply, but seemed to have cooled off from whatever was bothering him.
Definitely hearing the first syllable of your name being called, and suddenly shut down, you perked up suspiciously.
Keisuke always asked if you wanted sometime from the kitchen before making his way to the tv.
He’d ask like it was natural to get you both something.
Why had Keisuke stopped himself from asking?
Was it because Chifuyu was also home?
It hadn’t deterred him from asking the past few weeks, since your first meeting of the blond delinquent.
Sure, if you’d really wanted something, it wouldn’t have been out of the ordinary for you to shout for him either, but it was the principle. He specifically didn’t ask you.
He’s in a prickly mood, you reasoned, looking down trying to hide your disappointment. But it did have something to do with you, right? The reason he was being harsh?
There was only person he was actively ignoring in the room, though.
Keisuke, true to his word, he’s thumped harshly into the living room, handing a visibly cold beer to the only adult in the house. Fiddling with your fingers, you tried to hide your overthinking with being focused on cleaning your cuticles. You couldn’t notice how he was also purposefully avoiding looking in your direction.
But Chifuyu did.
Reminiscing in memories made only half an hour ago, Chifuyu glared at the black haired boy.
﴾❀﴿
Conversation on the way home from grocery shopping made its way to Chifuyu asking,
“Is there a reason why you’re keeping a secret about your relationship with y/n?”
“She isn’t my girlfriend, moron. Wasn’t hiding nothin,” he’d replied with his usual vigor. “Had I known you’d be so annoying about it I probably would have.”
“Wait, you and Y/n aren’t dating?”
“Y/n ain’t that kinda girl, dumbass.” Baji glared down at him, but Chifuyu knew him by now—-he could see how he was trying to hide the smidge of hurt the question brought.
“She’s too good to get wrapped up in Toman.” Baji soon evened out his voice, pained thoughts seeming to have been recalled.
“She’s already been through enough. The closer she is to me, the more danger she’s in. I can’t stomach the thought.”
“But you like her, right?” Chifuyu asked longer.
“Doesn’t matter if I do or not,” Baji sighed, irritation growing. “It’s for her own damn good.”
Both went a little quiet on the walk home.
“But seriously, she’s, like, too good to let pass by, yaknow?”
Chifuyu meant it as more encouragement, that he should just go for it. However, Baji obviously took it much, much differently. That was apparent on his facial expression of mild shock. As though instead, Baji had heard Chifuyu say, “so, she’s perfect girlfriend material and available, who’d pass that up?”
Keisuke didn’t typically overthink things, hell, he didn’t think a good part of his life. But at that moment, overwhelmed with the stress of the situation, he’d imagined Chifuyu, courting you easily with his good looks and shojo manga knowledge.
Chifuyu was a good guy, about the best Baji could hope for someone like you.
Baji was an idiot, who hurt those around him. Shinichiro and Kazutora were enough.
If he hurt you too…
Well… at least you can cling to Chifuyu.
Baji’s expression vague and void. He knew it would be better to support you instead. Yet, why did the thought make his blood boil? Why does it feel like he just got a cold bucket or water poured over him?
Unfamiliar to it all, all Baji could reply with was,
“… Go for it.
You’d probably be better for her anyway.”
﴾❀﴿
Chifuyu groaned at his friend’s stupidity. Fine, he reasoned. If Baji’s going to be a brat about his feelings, he’s going to have to force it out of him.
He thought to start small… “Y/nnchann~ I brought you some juice, and I got these new chips, wanna try some?” Chifuyu gleamed, two glasses of juice and a bag of chips under his arm.
Keisuke glared at his beaming friend.
Did he seriously not have the decency to wait a day before he started flirting with you ?
You blinked wide eyes, a little taken aback at the thoughtful gesture. “O-oh!! Thank you!” You’d accepted the juice with a genuinely kind smile.
Thats right. You were kind. You were gentle, and caring. Keisuke knew all of these things the same exact day he met you, and solidified the day you cried when saving the injured kitten you were cuddling up next to now. Chifuyu was thoughtful, outwardly enthusiastic, and loyal. Chifuyu knew how to make you smile. Keisuke attempted to keep his cool, thinking these thoughts on repeat.
Chifuyu sat next to you, though the space was purposely left open, Keisuke reminded himself. “Wasn’t sure if I should get chicken and waffles, or pickle flavor, but Baji hit me and said I shouldn’t have got either!” Chifuyu complained, opening the bag of something unfamiliar. “He said these were good though, so I got them!”
“Really?~ I’ve never seen these before.” You grinned, instinctively looking to give a teasing glance to your friend, only to feel your heart squeeze when he continued to actively ignore you.
He really is being a brat! Everyone in the room thought.
Chifuyu huffed. Fine. Be a brat.
“Neither had I. Here, try one.” Chifuyu offered, holding a chip out to you. You went to grab it, but he pulled back with a teasing grin, “ahh,” he sounded, mouth wipe. You laughed, and followed his motion to try the new chip.
It was best to try and pretend everything was normal, so as to not upset the balance of the room even more, after all. “Mm!! It’s like a yakisoba kind of flavor!” You mused all starry eyed at Chifuyu.
Baji’s side glance betrayed him, as he angrily realized how cute you were, again.
“Right? Makes me want the real thing though.” He smiled and looked over at Baji’s mother. “Can I make one?” Ryoko shrugged. “Go for it, there’s two left.”
In reply, Chifuyu stood up and went to make the dried noodles. Baji perked up, he’d be damned if he didn’t admit he too was craving his favorite food. “Let’s split it, ‘kay, Y/nnchin?”
Baji almost gasped at how outright betrayed he was. Meaning to yell out against Chifuyu, instead, he gave a empty glare, distracting himself with the TV again. Ryoko quietly rose her eyebrows and took a sip of her beer, ‘ohhh boy~’
Your stomach betrayed you before you could deny the offer, lunch was forever ago and with the taste of Yakisoba literally on your tongue, you couldn’t lie. “Sure!”
Watching the two of you sharing noodles was actually almost his breaking point. Sharing noodles was Chifuyu and his thing, and cause you never noticed things like ‘indirect kissing’, Chifuyu excitedly fed you with his own chopsticks every other bite, instead of the half and half he usually would.
·:*¨༺✮༻¨*:·
Baji’s sour attitude kept itself up the rest of the night, but never outwardly made comments about it. Chifuyu was entertaining you and Ryoko just fine on his own, flirting a little here, playing innocent there.
If it came down to genuine flirting for his own game, Chifuyu would be a mess of nerves, but pretending to flirt was so much easier, simply going through the motions.
Though it did help that his actual crush on you made the task a little easier. Your smile only made him the more excited, and the way you quipped back like how you would with Baji made him feel all the more special.
You made him feel special, by treating him the same as you would Baji, and not like his subordinate.
“Well, it is pretty late, yaknow? Probably best if I started on my way home!” You faked a yawn, at the measly hour of 9pm. “Whaaaaa, but I like when you stay late on weekends~” Ryoko hiccuped in protest, earning an affectionate hug from the you. “Sorry Ryoko, but I have more work than usual I need to get to.” You politely excused yourself, quickly gathering what little you’d brought with you back from school.
“Pooo~ well, Kei, get your shoes on.” Ryoko yawned,
“I’m too tired, Chifuyu, mind taking her?” Baji interrupted his mother with what looked to be an attempt of a casual excuse.
Ryoko nearly knocked him up side the head for talking back, but too quick to the punch, Chifuyu gave a solid, “Sure.”
It wasn’t like him to say no, but that quickly, and while looking Baji in the eye like that? Like he’d got him to admit defeat. Oh, he did Not like that look. He wanted to raise his voice. What’s up your ass, trying to pick a fight? He’d glared, very clearly.
But again, like he had all night, he shrugged. “Thaaaanks.” And with that he closed the door to his bedroom. The silence was loud as the three of them stood in shock.
Had no one known Baji, it would have seemed like an innocent encounter. But this was not, like Baji.
You swallowed thickly, certain now that you was the thorn in his side. “Ah, don’t worry bout it Chi! It’s not a far walk, so I’ll make it just fine!” You forced out a laugh, pacing toward the door within seconds. Before he could object and follow you out, the door was already gently shut.
Chifuyu and Ryoko remained dumbfounded. What the hell happened?
“W-wait! Damnit.. “ sending a quick glance over his shoulder to the only closed door in the apartment, he was tempted to yell out ‘The hell’s your problem?’ , but Chifuyu already knew that it was himself that was the problem.
Without another word, Chifuyu clumsily thew on his shoes, and ran out the door, slamming in reply.
Ryoko let out a heavy, audible sigh, one that Keisuke knew all too well. He could hear her loud and clear, he was still stuck to the back of his door after all.
Keisuke groaned, sliding down the door. Slowly the footsteps he’s heard his whole life began getting louder, until a thump landed outside his door, and an equal force was against the door. She’d say with Kei like this many, many times before now.
“What happened?”
She asked, no anger.
Shifting his gaze from the window to his hands, he’d almost rubbed them raw fidgeting with them.
“… it’s none of your business.” He whispered, unable to fake any malice against his own mother. Not when he was too exhausted and confused.
“It’s only a matter of time before someone came along, yaknow.” Ryoko signaled. Kei scowled, looking another direction yet again. “Whats that mean?”
“It means,” Ryoko reiterated back to him. “If you’re serious about staying by that girl’s side, you’re going to have to be honest eventually.”
“Honest?… How am I supposed to do that? She’d be a target! It’s not like I can always protect her, if something happened—!” Keisuke didn’t realize how loud he’d been until his room started echoing back at him. Why was he getting so emotional? How come his eyes were burning, crying? Jesus, how pathetic. He couldn’t handle it anymore.
Giving into the feeling he felt himself finally let the tears run on their own. “She…. She deserves better than a punk without a future...” He squeaked out, his clutched hands squeezing harder, his head falling onto them. His sniffles could be heard by the older women.
She’d known that something like this was bound to happen. He may have been sincere, but he was still a fool after all.
“Don’t be stupid Kei,” Ryoko sighed, opening the door unexpectedly. Keisuke tensed up immediately, frozen in place. “You are good.” She smiled, crouching to hold her son.
“I should know, I raised you after all.” She laughed. “I don’t know what happened exactly, but this isn’t how Baji’s handle things, is it?”
Keisuke scoffed quietly, rolling his eyes, yet, he felt a little better. “This is different.” He grumbled.
“Is it? Hmmm…” she’d hummed, trying to think of the genius idea she always had in these moments. “Well, what kind of team in Toman? One to be embarrassed of? Feared? Why are you feared? Because you’re strong. The difference is that when one of Your guys gets hurt…”
She left her sentence to draw, knowing exactly how he was thinking, now.
Keisuke left it in the air for seconds before he sighed. “We come after you with everything we’ve got.”
The apartment grew quiet, til Ryoko broke it again. “Y/n has a good heart. She’ll understand how you boys get along. Don’t underestimate her too quickly.”
“But what if…” he whispered, the thoughts of your cold husk—
“Kei.” Ryoko metaphorically slapped him out of his head. “If you break that poor girl’s heart cause you’re scared, fine. At least apologize to her.”
“But really, Kei, be honest with her. I know you’re strong enough to protect her. If not you, than who?”
After a few seconds of consideration, Keisuke seemed to make up his mind. “Geez, lecturing me like I’m a damn kid,” he’s sighed, giving a weak smile, tears gone.
“Hey, it’s my job.” His mother shrugged, standing to her full height, and yawned. “Now, make sure she gets home safe. If you catch her in time, apologize, understood?” She’d ordered, a knowing nod following her reply. Gifting a rare quick hug to his mother, he made it to the front door in only a few quick paces.

He is uncommonly clever, if one can judge from his face, and full of energy.
Jonathan: *uncommonly clever*
Jonathan: *reacted to Dracula revealing he has no reflection and then terribly trying to hide that by yeeting the only mirror in the castle with "But how am I going to shave now"*
yes I know I'm being unfair
After reading his account of it I was prepared to meet a good specimen of manhood
I'm an adult
However, after a while I came away; my friend is just a little too sane at present to make it safe to probe him too deep with questions. He might begin to think, and then—!
I feel like moments of lucidity would be the best time to ask questions, but then, I'm clearly an idiot because I never would have come up with such brilliant plans as "let my patient escape on purpose instead of treating him"
can you imagine if Jonathan had to track all this stuff down with today's shipping companies? Imagine trying to get any information out of FedEx. Then again, if Drac had used FedEx he'd never have received half of his boxes and they'd just be like "yeah we don't know where they went sorry" and only after he specifically called to ask because they wouldn't bother to reach out and tell them
Yes, I've had a bitter experience
Of course they had heard Lucy speak of me, and it seemed that Dr. Van Helsing, too, has been quite "blowing my trumpet," as Mr. Morris expressed it.
I adore how everyone who meets Mina immediately falls in love and never stops talking about it, great stuff
I never thought at the time how strange it all was
yeah, dealing with vampires puts everything into perspective that way
It seemed but poor comfort to so brave and unselfish a soul, and impulsively I bent over and kissed him.
you know, if Dracula hadn't come and ruined everything, these people could have had the greatest orgy ever, just saying
She looked so appealing and so pretty that I could not refuse her, and there was no possible reason why I should
I mean there was the time Renfield stabbed you
His method of tidying was peculiar: he simply swallowed all the flies and spiders in the boxes before I could stop him. It was quite evident that he feared, or was jealous of, some interference.
Seward why are you so judgmental
"You're not the girl the doctor wanted to marry, are you? You can't be, you know, for she's dead."
wait can every patient hear Seward doing his phonograph
He replied to her with as much courtesy and respect as he had shown contempt to me
Maybe that's because she doesn't treat him like a science experiment
after to-night she must not have to do with this so terrible affair
*prolonged furious screaming*
Listen. LISTEN. I know that Van Helsing's own wife went mad and I'm sure all of his not-telling-anyone-anything bullshit is in an attempt to keep them safe from the same fate but like
a) No
b) Mina is the only reason we've made as much progress as we have
c) Are you sure your wife didn't just go insane from listening to you speak endlessly, sir
that was mean of me. but still.
However, 'the milk that is spilt cries not out afterwards,' as you say.
oh my head
he can command all the meaner things: the rat, and the owl, and the bat—the moth, and the fox, and the wolf
Wait.
Wait wait wait.
Dracula can control MOTHS?
DRACULA/MOTHMAN CROSSOVER WHEN
Van Helsing just sitting around listing all the ways Dracula kicks ass feels very Gaston to me
They learned his secrets in the Scholomance
WIZARD SCHOOL WITH HEADMASTER SATAN
Whilst they were talking Mr. Morris was looking steadily at the window, and he now got up quietly, and went out of the room.
Quincey greatness incoming in 3, 2, 1 -
Here we were interrupted in a very startling way. Outside the house came the sound of a pistol-shot; the glass of the window was shattered with a bullet, which, ricochetting from the top of the embrasure, struck the far wall of the room. I am afraid I am at heart a coward, for I shrieked out. The men all jumped to their feet; Lord Godalming flew over to the window and threw up the sash. As he did so we heard Mr. Morris's voice without:—
"Sorry! I fear I have alarmed you. I shall come in and tell you about it." A minute later he came in and said:—
"It was an idiotic thing of me to do, and I ask your pardon, Mrs. Harker, most sincerely; I fear I must have frightened you terribly. But the fact is that whilst the Professor was talking there came a big bat and sat on the window-sill. I have got such a horror of the damned brutes from recent events that I cannot stand them, and I went out to have a shot, as I have been doing of late of evenings, whenever I have seen one. You used to laugh at me for it then, Art."
"Did you hit it?" asked Dr. Van Helsing.
"I don't know; I fancy not, for it flew away into the wood." Without saying any more he took his seat, and the Professor began to resume his statement
Quincey is the best character in all of fiction, I do not take debate

Encantober 2023 Day 13: Fear
The Madrigal triplets were each other’s biggest supporters in all of their moments. When they were happy or sad, they had each other’s backs. Their bond grew stronger after their gift ceremony, with adjusting to their gifts being more difficult than they would realize. But with each other by their side, their gifts would be a little bit easier to manage.
In spite of this, there were still some times that they would hide some things from each other. Just because they lived in the same house, shared the same birthday, and even shared the same womb, did not mean that there were still some things that they did not feel comfortable talking about with each other.
Alma walked through the Encanto with her triplets after picking up Pepa and Bruno from their speech session when the girls noticed Bruno trembling a little bit. The triplets just turned ten a couple weeks prior, so they would have thought they would share more things with each other than they used to. However, Bruno stayed silent their entire walk back home. He did not want to say a word to his sisters.
“Brunito, are you okay?” Julieta asked after tapping his shoulder.
“Si, I’m fine, Juli,” Bruno replied.
Julieta shrugged and they stayed quiet for the rest of the walk. Alma had to finish making dinner since she had to turn off the stove before picking them up so she did not burn the house down. Once they got home, Bruno ran up to his room before Alma went into the kitchen. Julieta and Pepa noticed how fast Bruno dashed to his room and followed him.
Julieta knocked on Bruno’s door to see if he was at least nearby, but Casita opened his door slightly, leaving Julieta and Pepa to traverse their brother’s room to find him. He was not in his bed, so the girls had to go through the sand to find him. They would eventually find him after falling to the first floor and seeing him through a pile of sand.
“Bruno? How are you doing?” Pepa asked.
Bruno jumped before noticing his sisters behind him. “I already told Julieta on our walk back home, I’m fine. What makes you think I’m not fine?”
“We noticed you trembling during the entire walk back and we wanted to know if there was something that was bothering you,” Julieta explained.
Bruno relaxed himself and got up from his sand pile to walk to his sisters. “Okay, I’ll tell you, but before I do, do you mind if we sit in a circle over here? I would rather talk if we sit together, just like we used to.”
Julieta and Pepa agreed and sat in the sand with Bruno in a circle. Once they got themselves situated, Bruno started in his explanation.
“Okay, so, Pepa, remember during our speech session a few hours ago when Dr. Martinez was talking about how the future will sometimes be scary?”
“Si, I remember when she was talking about that.”
“Well, when she mentioned that, I felt a little bit… tense. I mean, I know that I can see the future, but that doesn't mean I can’t be scared of it.”
“What makes you so scared about the future?” Julieta asked.
“Just, the fact that we were going to be getting older and how we were going to have to make more adult decisions and leave our childhoods behind.”
Julieta and Pepa leaned over to hug their brother once he said that. They could not believe that he wanted to hide that from them.
“Why were you scared to tell us that?” Pepa asked.
“Because I thought it would be too much for you to handle. The conversation was already too much for me to handle.”
“Brunito, you know that even if we can’t handle something, we will never judge you for anything you say,” Julieta explained.
“Besides, you know we can handle anything you might talk to us about, even if it sounds difficult,” Pepa added.
The triplets hugged each other once more before letting go of each other. One thing that the triplets loved the most about having serious talks with each other was the fact that they got to give each other a group hug afterwards.
“Think about it this way, Bruno, the future may be scary, but there are also a lot of great things to look forward to too,” Julieta mentioned.
“Yeah, like the fact that we will have more freedom,” said Pepa.
“Or the fact that we will be more in control of our gifts.”
“Or even getting married and having kids? Like being with other people that will love us no matter what and for the rest of our lives?” Bruno asked.
“Exactly; there are lots of things to look forward to in the future,” Julieta reminded.
The triplets hugged again before Alma called into Bruno’s door. “Mijos! Dinner is ready! I know you might have a bit of a walk, so I’ll make sure it’s still hot.”
The triplets split from their hug once they heard their mother call for them for dinner. They got up from their circle to begin making their travel out of the tedious mountains of Bruno’s room.
“By the way, Bruno, gracias for coming to us and telling us what you were so scared of. That alone was very brave of you,” said Pepa.
“De nada, hermana; I promise I will tell you anything that’s bothering me from now on.”
The triplets made their way out of Bruno’s room after the tension that was the talk they had ended. Bruno has been tense the entire time he, Julieta, and Pepa were talking about what was making him feel scared. But when the talk was over, everything that was tensing him up was released. Knowing that his sisters had his back was enough to relax him.

Do you have any traumatic memories that you remember from being a autistic child in school?
sorry this took so long to respond to. had it in my drafts while trying to dive into the depths of my brain to pull out specific examples so I can reply with more than just "all the bullying, teasing, harssment, misunderstandings, being forced to talk when I couldn't, adults being unhelpful and punishing me for being bullied, fake friends abusing/manipulating me, and more, was all traumatizing." fished out as many specific memories as i can....
then the tumblr app crashed and I lost everything as soon as I finished writing all the details!!! 5 hours of work gone without warning. so had to do it again 😭😭😭😭 but with less details this time because i'm TIRED and cant be bothered or remember everything I typed the first time. i'm not fixing grammar and typos this time either 😭 I wrote a proper essay last time. this time just thought chaos.
disclaimer: i'm writing this to the best of my memory. memory is bad and fuzzy and plagued with dissociation so some things might be remembered a little wrong, a bit exaggerated, or missing some pieces. I tried my best!
also, some things might be just general bullying and not specifically because i'm autistic, but I attribute all bullying to being autistic, and all experiences are enhanced by being autistic, both good and bad. plus not able to speak, ask for help, advocate for yourself, and getting ignored or punished by every adult for being a victim is probably a direct result of being autistic and seen as top different to be treated correctly.
3rd grade (age 8) had a teacher that was funny and liked making students laugh. used me as butt of her joke once day, mocking and making fun of me for not being able to talk. whole class copied her. my once favorite teacher suddenly betrayed me. sent me into a meltdown where I lost control of muscles and fell off chair to the ground and sobbed under my desk. teacher told me to stop because it's just a funny joke. sent me to the principal because I didn't stop crying.
I think 7th grade (age 12) my teacher made it his personal mission to make me talk to him. all the kids told him I dont talk but he still wasted so much time trying to make me do it. he decided I was being rude and offensive to him specifically and took it way too personally that I didn't talk to him. once day he started keeping me in the class from lunch break. trying to force me to talk to him and saying I can't go until I speak to him. sat way too close and tried to force me to make eye contact. I tried to write on a paper and he didn't even read it. he just ripped it and said I will use my words. finally he gave up and let me go to lunch. but lunch ended and I had to go back to class as soon as I got to the cafeteria so I got no food that day. don't remember how many times ge did it but ot was more than once
always got sat next to girl who absolutely hated me. made rude comments every chance she got. would glare at me in the most evil way constantly like she wanted to rip my face off. don't know what her problem was or what she wanted but made me extremely uncomfortable. look at her from corner of my eye and she was doing it even when I ws ignorkng her. if I looked towards her she'd do it even more intensely and say a rude comment. didn't know what her problem was. she seemed to hate me so much. she creeped me out. teachers for some reason always sat me next to either her or the loudest most annoying kids and other bullies. they didn't care if it made school harder for me. also teachers always made us change seats every month and that was too much for my autistic brain that hates changes. I didn't get a choice. was very hard to deal with.
in kindergarten (about age 5) i had the best seat. I was in the corner away from most of the kids, only one kid was in front of me at my table, and I sat next to a support pole that helped me block out some sensory input by blocking some of the room lights and half the classroom. some girl one day decided she wanted my seat and threw a fit. the teacher asked me if I wanted to move and I said NO. I kept saying no. I refused. when I got up and came back the teacher was moving my stuff and the girl was in my seat! I was moved to the table with the loudest and most hyper annoying kids. seated in the middle of the table so I was surrounded by them. I was so unhappy and overstimulated but the teacher didn't care. the other girl got what she wanted but I couldn't get what I needed.
many many times when making new friends, their other friends would pull them away, shove me to the ground, and tell them they're not allowed to talk to me. but my "friend" still said i'm their friend, yet didn't tell their friends to back off. they never fought against it. but when away from their friends woukd tell me we are friends and want to talk to me and play with me. so got mixed signals of being told by my new friend to follow, but getting yelled at by their friends and pushed away. they would tell teachers on me that I was following and stalking them and i'd get screamed at. was so confused because i'm told to make friends by teachers but then told to stop making friends.....???
2nd grade (age 7) one example of last one. teacher lectured me about needing to talk to kids and make friends. teacher asked one girl to let me be her friend. she let me eat lunch with her. tried to get me to play at recess with her and her friends but they didn't let me. she apologized but said we are still friends but cant play together. didn't defend me or leave her friends to play with me. still tried to be her friend though. later that week her best friend came back after being sick for a few days. the best friend was upset about me and told her friend to stop talking to me. so she told me we can't be friends anymore but I still tried. so they started lying saying shes going to a different school next year. (which was like 10 months away?) I didn't give up so they told teacher. teacher yelled at me. was confused because teacher said week before to make friends with her and now saying can't be friends with her! because she's moving away and womt be here nect year. why was everyone else allowed to be friends with her until then except me? except this girl stayed at that school for the next 6 years. she never left. years later she reached out to me again saying we were very good friends the whole time through school....but this is the only memory I have of her...????? she ignored me after that. we weren't good friends at all.
many times kids convinced me to do bad things with them in order to be their friend. naive and lonely self did it. it didn't make them be my friends. it just got me in trouble but they get away with it and we're never punished like I was! one example: crawling under bathroom stalls and locking all the doors then crawling back out. some even told on me and denied they did anything.
1st grade (age 6) we were just learning to dead but sometimes were allowed to follow along in a text book the teacher read to us. once I missed the page number and looked at the kid next to me but couldn't see the have number because his arm blocked it. do I tried to flip through the pages quietly to find the page. the teacher stopped reading, yelled at me for "playing around" and took the book saying I can't have a book anymore. I put my head down in tears and she yelled at me to look at her the whole time. after that if we were allowed to have the books and I got one she always took it away from me.....I couldn't explain my situation because I couldn't talk
3rd grade (age 8) had a substitute teacher one day. she was very mean and strict and grumpy. seemed like she hated children. made everyone read from text book one by one going in order. at my turn kids said I don't read and they always skip me but she said I have to. spent way too long yelling at me to read and lecturing me and said we won't move on until I read and if not then everyone gets punished so kids started yelling at me to just read. I finally managed to but could only get out a whisper. whole class was very silent and sub stopped harassing me. as soon as I finished she's like "well if you aren't going to read then we will skip you" ignoring the fact I read and she even listened???? I was confused. other kids were confused. she told kid after me to read and he started the next paragraph but she stopped him and told him to read mine. he said I already did but she said do it again anyway. I struggled painfully to speak and read out loud and fought with my dyslexia all for nothing!!!
don't remember when this was but I was pretty young so between 5-7 probably. in gym class we had to line up alphabetical order then were split in half and had to line up at the walls on either side for attendance and for the teacher to explain what we were doing and stuff like that. I was at the end of my line. the kid next to me was very annoying and nasty and loved to harass me. he'd get in my face, scoot as close to me as he could, poke me and breathe on me and touch me and say weird things. I wasn't able to talk so couldn't ask for help. i'd scoot away little at a time and try to ignore the kid but he only got worse. when I scooted too far away out of my line, the teacher yelled at me. not him. only me. he lied once that I made him scoot down the wall put of line so he never got in trouble every time after. only I did. the teacher never cared the kid was bothering and harassing me and didn't even hide that he was doing it. only I got yelled at for being harassed by this little menace
3rd grade again, in art class we have a clay ceramics day. we had to make turtles. art was my favorite class and only thing I was good at. only time kids complimented me. my turtle came out perfect. I was so proud. teacher wanted us to go show her when we finished so she could make sure we did it right and mark a grade for it. while waiting on line a kid came up and said my turtle was really good. I smiled at him as a thank you and then he intentionally slapped it out of my hands and onto the floor flat as a pancake. I was shocked and stared at it. no one noticed him do it and thought I dropped it. I panic scraped it off the floor and tried to fix it but I couldn't. there was no time to start over. the teacher came up to me and asked to see it....told me I did it wrong and didn't follow directions and gave a bad grade.....😭😭😭 but I wasn't able to tell her what happened!
i think it was the same kid as above. for a while after snack time every day when i'd try to throw my trash away, he sat in front of the trashcan and would wait until I threw away my trash to get up and get in my face or shove me and act like I ran into him or was in his place and he'd yell at me stuff like "go away freak! dont touch me!" I was confused why I wasn't sowed to throw my trash away and started storing it under my desk and waited until later.....
being forced to perform in the school play and basically begging many times to be able to work behind the scenes and help out with things, but being disliked so much that I was forced to perform on the stage under bright hot lights and wear heavy itchy costume and even had to wear makeup that irritated my skin. had to stand on stage and move around and kept feeling hot and nauseous but wasn't allowed to sit or take a break. had to remember all the directions and be able to pay attention to what everyone else was doing to be know the queue to do my job. had to do this for audience watching and didn't want t be perceived. the stage was small and all 60 kids had to be on the stage at once at some points. I kept getting yelled at and laughed at for not saying the lines I was given or not speaking loud enough if I wa able to whisper something out, until they finally gave it to another person and made me a background filler. it didn't make sense to me why I was singled out when the other 2 quiet and awkward (and obviously autistic) kids were allowed to be the stage helpers. I guess I was autistic-ing the wrong way? there was a girl who also didnt talk ever and people often compared me to her but she wasn't forced on stage or harassed to talk all the time. don't know why it was only me.
freshman year high school (age 14) I thought I made a friend. a girl in my class kept talking to me and didn't seem to care that I didn't answer back most of the time. everyone bullied her and thought she was weird and I felt bad because i'm treated the same way so I was nice to her despite her being a bit odd and trying to convince me to do bad things with her (drinking, drugs, smoking, partying). at the end if the school year we even skipper the last peprally together because we hate how loud they are. I tried to help her out and be friendly. I let her ramble for an hour straight about her favorite manga I knew nothing about. I thought we were friends, but she didnt give me a way to keep in touch over sunmer. summer went by and the next school year started. I saw her in the hall and said hi! how was your summer? and she ignored me. figured she didn't hear. went up beside her and waved and said hi again. she turned towards me and screamed as loud as she could GET AWAY FROM ME. whole hallway stopped and got quiet. everyone stared at me like I hurt her. she and her friends walked away quickly and everyone asked what I did to her. I still to this day don't have an answer to that....never spoke to her again. ignored her existence after that.
from kindergarten to 8th grade I had a total of 4 "friends" but 2 of them were actually abusive bullies. 1 was an absolute demon. very manipulative, abusive, gaslighting, lying, etc. she got the other one to join in and harass and torment me too by threatening their friendship if she didnt join in. they would torture me then would be nice the next day and apologize or act like nothing happened. a lot of stuff happend out of school and I can't remember what happened where so I won't get into soecifics becuase it was like 10 years of this and its too much and the memory has been eroded by time and dissociation, but it was a whole mess at all times with these two, but especially worse of the two. could never win and she always tried to make my life miserable in any way she could but then would pull me back in by being the nicest person ever and repeat the cycle. the other one copied her and did the same thing, but not as intense. I cried st school most days because of them. no one cared though. they never got in trouble for anything. one started a fist fight with me once. another time she clawed my arms and face up with her long sharp nails that she admitted to growing out specifically to attack me with. I fought back both times. I got in trouble for it. she got away with her lies. everyone insisted she was so sweet and innocent and perfect and I was the problem, but she was a demon who ruined my childhood. I had no other choices but befriend some if my bullies because every adult in my life lectired and screamed at me to make friends at school, when i'm in a class of 40-50 of the same kids for 10 years straight and they all hate, avoid, and/and bully me.
the other friend I had stopped being my friend because of my horrible bully friend. I befriended a mod who had no friends and wasn't liked because at first I felt bad for him. then I realized he reminded me of my cousin who just moved away. this cousin was like my twin brother and the best friend I ever had to this day. I decided this kid was his replacement.  a few years go by and he suddenly stops talking to me and starts ignoring me. I figured it's because he's now popular and has friends. found out years later from a girl from my class that everyone knew I "had a crush on him" except me lmao. my bully friend told him and the whole class I guess I "liked" him and he didn't like it so started avoiding me. I lost my cousin replacement because that girl was jealous because SHE was the one that liked him! growing up autistic AND aroace in this situation was a confusing revelation......
I think freshman year (age 14) I had the flu really bad. I get more sick than the average person for some reason. parents forced me to go to school sick. felt so bad I had to put my head down for it to be bearable. the teacher who was lecturing hated that and kept yelling at me to stop "sleeping" but I was too sick to sleep. gave up after a while and kept my head down and ignored him. he came over and slammed my desk and it was loud and hurt. he and the other teacher in the room escorted me out to the hall. they accused me of being on drugs and tried to get me to admit to it. I kept denying so they took me to the counselor. for the next couple hours I was interrogated and not believed. they asked what "drugs" I took and I assumed they meant medicine for my flu since it was obvious I was sick with how mamy tissues i used and my constant coughing/asthma attacks but they didn't notice I guess and that wasn't good enough and kept trying to play the good guys who wanted to help if I admit to taking illegal drugs and tried to make me confess. after letting me "think about it" for an hour and I still denied when they came back they called my mom and told her to come in to tall about my drug use and she came in and told them i'm sick and took me home.
one year in high school when I had to ride the bus home from school, i'd sit in the front to try avoiding the loud chaos in the back and middle. buses were nightmares for my autism after a day of school being a nightmare. I wanted to sit alone so i put my bag and feet up on the seat. some gross creepy kid decided he wanted to sit with me to harass me. he would throw my stuff on another seat or the floor and grab my legs and move them either to the floor or put them in his lap. i'd try to scoot away from him but was always pressed against the window. he'd get as close to me as he could, put his arm around me, touch me without consent, and even tried to kiss my face. i'd push him and kick him and he didn't give up. I looked at the bus driver with pleading eyes of "help me" while pushing this freak away and driver just laughed. this went on for a while before the kid finally got bored and gave up. the driver happened to be my grandpa's best friend so he had the audacity to be offended I wouldn't talk to him. why would I talk to someone that wouldn't help me get that weirdo off me 🙄
freshman year (age 14) I had a study hall. one day some big creepy guy decided to sit next to me. me moved my stuff off the chair and desk without asking. I just wanted to do homework and take a nap. he insited on talking to me. told me he was 19, 20 in a few months and is still in high school because he was held back 2 years. I tried to ignore him but he wouldn't leave me alone. he insisted on asking me questions. normal ones at first. like name, age, favorite class, favorite color. I decided to answer a few to see if he'd leave since ignoring didn't work. after a few answers he took put a notebook and pen and started writing down my answers. that made me super uncomfortable. so I stopped answering. his questions got more personal like siblings and their names? where do I live/address? phone number? and he'd try to guess my answers and observe my face to see if he was right and make up his own answers for me. because I refused to give anything more. his questions got more invasive. he asked if I have my "v card" but I was confused. he eventually said it means am I a virgin. that made me extremely uncomfortable. he continues, asks bra size. asks what kind of underwear I wear. when I didn't answer that he said he'd just figure it out himself and stuck his disgusting hand up my skirt! I got up immediately and tried to get my sruff so I could sit somewhere else but the teacher yelled at me to sit down. dropped my stuff and went to try to tell the teacher. he told me ignore the guy and go sit back down. asked if I can go to the bathroom and he said no. so I was stuck with that creep. the teacher supervising tbe study hall was also tbe same one yelling at me for "sleeping" in his class and accusing me of using drugs because I was very sick.
(I had 21 befroe the app crashed so i'm missing a couple stories but cannot remember which ones 😭 I hate the tumblr app. it's so broken)
that's all I can remember for now. digging these up was exhausting and took way too long. Hopefully this is what you wanted anon!
I know to neurotypicals and maybe even ND allistics, possibly other autistic people as well, most of these might seem dumb and not trauma worthy at all. but when you are struggling with no help or support at all, don't know what's going on ever, can't speak to advocate for yourself, aren't ever believed or listened to when you try, etc. all these things piling up daily, one after another, becomes an ongoing trauma experience that causes life-long cptsd 😭

Little AU part 1/2 (It's the part Seek, Dupe, Figure, and Snare sell weed.)
A young man helped load a box of the green plant into the back of the green jeep as the inky being pulled on a bright yellow hood over her head.
Behind the duo loading up the plant was a taller man, with bandages thrown over his eyes, reading a braille book as he tilted his head over.
'Hal, Andi, Tom, I could hear you, ya know. You three never go without one another, and I could hear your vacuum cleaner noise, Andi.'
'Aw, man.' Said the little girl, who peeped out from the door. The floating ink goober pushed the boy wearing a green and pink T-shirt from out of the hiding spot.
'Screech! You dummy!' The boy said, fixing his ventilator, and it made the vacuum cleaning noise.
The young man sighed. 'Is it about the outside world again? It's dangerous out there, and you three,' the man pointed to the trio of kids, 'did not perfect your human disguises yet. I'd rather we be safe in this hotel than outside. Why don't you go bother Rushlet?'
'But Jason!' The inky child retorted, 'why can Ernie go outside?'
'Tom, we are squeezing time. We need to sell this weed to stoners before any invaders may get in.' The tall man replied, 'we can ask mom. She might let you three kids to human school once you look like humans.'
'Screech, come on.' Said the girl, 'we can go pester Dread.'
'Haltie, Bushy!'
'Tom, I will tear your tendrils.' Ambush glared a dagger into the smaller kid, 'Hey, Hal, do you want to watch frozen in your pocket dimention?'
The girl smiled and dragged the duo away from the greenhouse. 'Figgy, I'm getting Dupe. He's on driving duty. After that, we can go read books in your library.'
The young adult happily smiled at the girl as she melted into a puddle, and within seconds, a very dizzy David came out of the ground with her.
'Serena, you are a bitch.' Dupe said, as the girl gave him a shit eating grin.
'David, Serena, what happened?' An older person appeared from the end of the greenhouse, with a head that was glowing red like blood.
'Dad, Seekling dragged me in her pocket dimension again!' Dupe whined, as the red light tapped his shoulder.
'Dad, it's Dupe's turn to drive.' Serena said, pulling on the hood, 'and good ol' Morty ain't waiting for his weed.'
'How about I drive you kids out, and I go on a grocery run myself. Your mum ran out of pasta and milk.'
'Can I come along?'
'No, Tom!' The red light shouted, 'go prank someone with Jack and Becca, or just help your mother clean and fix up the rooms for the next potential invader.'
The Screech looked at its father and gave him the puppy eyes. But ever since fathering, what, 15 children, he's been immune to that.
'Tom, go help mom, okay, I promise I'll come back with things for everyone. Now go unleash chaos, son.'
The Screech happily left the room as the father led his eldest children to the elevator that was at door 100.
'Human disguises?'
'Check.' Serena said, holding its human skin disguise and shoving it over the Snare's head, covering his inhuman green skin. She then put on a mask that covered her one eye.
'Coins and knobs for general purposes like water and transport?'
'Yup!'
The man gave the teens a signal, and all of them pressed the big, red button at the elevator, taking them to the parking lot.
'Remember, what do we say when a cop shows up at your stall?'
'I invoke the fifth, and we are selling tea.' Said the inky black girl, who had now looked like a normal girl.
'Okay, let's go.' Said the Dad, as his daughter hopped on the green jeep and started the vehicle. The three boys sat at the back as the car started and left the building.
The four teens dropped their father off at a grocery shop as they made their way to the alley.
Within minutes, a young redhead appeared. '3 pounds, under Ms G. Weaselton, I'm distributing to a British school.' The buyer said, a hood covering her face, but not her fiery red hair.
'Here, and keep it a secret.'
'The people that are buying from me get discounts. How much?'
'30 of the bronze coins you carry.'
'Mind I convert it to 1 bronze coin and 1 sliver coin?'
'You have a deal.' Serena told the girl, as she took out a sliver coin and a bronze coin.
David took the coins and handed her the box, which she tied to the end of her broomstick and flew off.
It just went on and on, the girl and her 3 brothers selling the stock within an hour, making a total of 300 dollars and the coins the girl with fiery hair gave them.
'Okay, that's a wrap. 75 percent to the family fund... here's 50 dollars to distribute among the 4 of us and 25 dollars for gas.' Said Jason, smiling at his sister as she put away the 50 dollar bill and put the rest into a bag.
Then, they drove home, had a shower, and went downstairs to have dinner.
Dinner, like every other night, consists of some curry beans, some remaining human flesh from the last invader, and vegetables grown straight from Snare's garden.
That night was not as peaceful as they expected.

💌🧸 Brother's Best Friend
A/N: Got this request a while ago and now I'm wondering why I've never written this trope before bc this was so fun??? Lmk how you liked it! x
genre: optional bias (m) x reader (f), smut, size/strength kink??, choking, dom!bias (it’s kinda playful tho), brother's best friend!au, sneaking around, play fighting, lowkey getting caught but not directly?
words: ~ 4.1 k
disclaimer: I don’t mean for the age gap to be gigantic…I’m talking about anything from 1-2 years maximum tbh!!! Anything else would be weird and I’m not about that! They’re also both obviously consenting adults!
[H/N means 'his (bias) name']
In youreyes, your first meeting had been a disaster. The new spider man movie had been released only days ago, and you were adamant on seeing it. And to your luck, your older brother and his best friend had already made plans to watch it together. As a little sister, you were treated like the baby of the family, and it didn’t matter that you were far from being an infant anymore. So naturally, your brother had been condemned by your parents to bring you along. He declared his distaste in your presence by attempting to ignore you, but you were used to that. Just like you were aware of his bad moods, you knew he could change within minutes and magically turn into the sweetest, most caring big brother you could wish for.
Whatever. You didn’t need his approval to enjoy the trip to the movie theater, you told yourself. Had it not been for his best friend, who you hadn’t seen in ages. H/N and you had never properly spoken before, and the last time you saw him he had been an awkward, prepubescent boy who had appeared at your door to pick up your brother for a playdate. There was no trace of immaturity now. Instead, it was you who had morphed into an awkward, shy mess at the sight of him.
His ‘hello’ had a warm and deep melody to it which swooped you up in his aura so suddenly, you had no time to prepare. Had his smile always been this stupidly charming? Hell, it was so bright, you had to meticulously inspect the ground every time he sent a grin your way. When before you hadn’t felt guilty for being a bother, you now sure did. What impression would you leave, trailing behind the older boys like a lost puppy? What would he take you for? The annoying little sister who didn’t have friends of her own? The mood-killer, who wouldn’t understand any of the boys’ inside jokes? The anti-social, weird girl who was obsessed with fictional men, like people loved to belittle teenage girls with normal interests?
As things turned out, his initial opinion of you was quite the opposite. If only you could have spied into his brain, it would have saved you a landslide of worry. Although your brother took up all of H/N’s attention before the movie started, he noticed you a good amount. To be precise, you blew him away at first sight. Your cute laugh won him over in a matter of seconds and he liked that your merch sweater could have been stolen straight out of his own closet. He didn’t want to feel too smug, but the way you diverted your eyes away from him whenever he looked in your direction only boosted his confidence further.
Your brother might have warned him. Stay away from her. She’s off limits for you. But not a thousand vicious, older brothers could have kept him from trying to get to you. It was up to you, after all, whether you wanted him around or not, and not to your brother. From that day on, H/N didn’t skip out on a chance to see you, even if it meant merely an exchange of a few words, or a simple greeting. And to his luck, you turned out to be equally as enraptured by him.
There was something about the untouchable, the forbidden, that attracted him to you even more. Plus, you were simply too precious to forget about. One morning, you dropped off a beanie at his place, which he had left at your house after meeting with your big brother the previous day. When he had asked if he could drive you to school as a thank you, you happily accepted. You had marked that day as the first day of your new life. First, it was harmless flirting. To be honest, you were under the impression he was merely messing with you. Because you were the cute little sister of his best friend. Because you would turn into an awkward shell of a person who had lost all ability to articulate, and your cheeks would burn as if they were on fire, whenever he charmed you.
But the flirting slowly reached newer levels, and before you knew it you were discussing your sexual fantasies over text messages and giving him bedroom eyes as you opened the front door for him. “H/N’s here!” you would then shout to your big brother. Then you would watch the two boys walk off to your brother’s room, pondering why life had to be this way for you. It wasn’t fair. Siblings were supposed to share, right? Why did you have to wait your turn until after midnight, when no one would notice, to spend time with H/N?
But to H/N, the sneaking around in the middle of the night and the secret messages you sent to each other, it all added to the excitement. Surely, there were days on which he wished he could just break the truth to your brother. The impact it could have on their friendship was enough intimidation for him to refrain, though. Things were better off this way, for now.
Today was no exception to your usual lies. When your brother asked if you would go out with him to do some shopping, you had played the victim and feigned a stomachache. Your parents wouldn’t be home all weekend. You’d have been stupid to waste a perfect opportunity like that. Who knew when you could have H/N in your bed the next time? Normally, you were restricted to his car, or to his bed in the dark of night. Yes, those places had something enticing at first glance. But the backseat of a car was only enjoyable for so many clandestine meetings. So today you notified him of your golden opportunity before your brother had even walked out the door.
The moment H/N texted you that he was outside your home, you opened the front door and dragged him to your room.
“Are you in control today, little one?” he asked, closing the bedroom door after you.
“Why are you asking that?” you replied, not wanting to talk at all but rather do so much more productive things.
“I don’t know…perhaps because you haven’t let me say a word since I came through the door,” he said.
“Right. Maybe I’m planning on tying you up, blindfolding you, and torturing you with ice and wax,” you joked in a casual tone, despite not usually requesting such graphic ideas.
“I don’t know if I’d let you do that,” he grinned with raised eyebrows. “Besides, I know you’d rather be at the receiving end of that. It’s a sweet idea, though. If we had some more time…”
“Think you could get away from me if I tied you up?” you said, but he was towering over you with the calmness of a king who knew he reigned over the situation.
“We both know I’m stronger than you, doll,” he said. You didn’t like it when boys called you weak. But you’d let it slide, knowing he was only joking and would never underestimate you outside of the bedroom. He put his lips right up to yours, so you felt his breath on them. His fingers came up to cup your face, but then slowly inched to your neck. When they closed around your neck, putting the slightest amount of pressure on your skin, you whimpered quietly.
“Need reminding?” he asked. As much pent-up frustration you had, and as much as your stomach was flipping upside down from how badly you needed him, you just had to play with him. You knew it would make for more fun.
“I think- “ you started, with a grin. Then you grabbed him by the front of his shirt and pushed him backwards, until he was stumbling. Although caught off guard, he was quick to pull you along with him as he fell onto your bed. You landed on top of him with a small squeal.
“Go on, let’s see who can throw the other off the bed first,” he teased with a superiority that only spurred you on. Then again, you would always be in the mood for the oldest childhood game you had ever known. Only now it wasn’t your brother, but his best friend you were playing against. It added a layer of excitement, and after only seconds, giggles had overtaken you as you struggled in his grip.
“No tickling is allowed,” you said. He nodded obediently with a smirk that told you he might not abide by your rules.
At first, you had attempted to hold him down by his arms. But your legs tangled, and he pushed his chest up against yours, like he was about to flip you over. Your plan seemed to be working only momentarily. You groaned a little as he grabbed your wrists swiftly and held his stance against your attempt to pull his upper body to the side.
“Cute,” he said. That’s when you realized, he was barely struggling, barely trying, even. While you were giving your most, he smirked like he was watching a kitten trying to fight a lion. It was child’s play to him, keeping you in check. Literally. With an annoying expression of amusement on his face, he let you have the upper hand for a while. Then, as if you had never had an ounce of advantage, he turned it around and pulled you into him. His eyes suggested he might just send you tumbling down onto the floor any moment now. Nonetheless, you weren’t going to give up so easily. Taking your chances, you let go of his arms and moved sideways, so you could have your go at pushing him towards the edge of the mattress.
“I don’t think so,” he said. Suddenly, he bear-hugged your body and rolled you both over. Before you could protest or defend yourself, your arm was dangling off the side of your bed and if you had moved a tiny bit further, you would have slid off the bedsheets and right onto your carpet. It was his turn to straddle you now. As if his actions hadn’t been enough declarations of his strength, he pinned your wrists to the bed above your head and gave you a challenging smirk.
“I was going to let you win, doll. But you weren’t trying hard enough,” he said. “What are you going to do about it?”
What were you going to do? He had you completely immobilized. “Just let it go, then. We get it, you’re super strong and super big and the coolest,” you said.
He seemed to take an instant liking to your declaration. “Say it again. This time minus the eye-rolling, sugar.”
“You’re stronger than me,” you said, trying to avoid the laughter that was threatening to come out. Could he read in your gaze how badly you wanted him to kiss you already? If he could, he wasn’t acting on it. Instead, he bent to the crook of your neck and spoke.
“Does it turn you on that I can overpower you?” his breath fanned your ear and you had to close your eyes to control yourself.
“Yes. Because I trust you,” you answered truthfully. The corner of his lips curled into a cocky grin.
“You know what? I think I’d rather you stay in bed with me instead of throwing you on the floor. There’s so many things we can do up here, isn’t that right, little one?” His lips brushed over your cheek and then over your lips as he spoke. The nickname had always made you weak in the knees and he knew it. When he finally enveloped your lips in a kiss, you swore you could feel an electric spark jump between the two of you. The mellowness of it turned into hunger rapidly, and as soon as his tongue flicked over your bottom lip, you whimpered like you hadn’t seen him in a year.
“Needy, are we?” he asked, running his hand up your sides and underneath your shirt. He could say that again. “Let’s get these off, then.”
The seconds in which you pulled off your clothes and couldn’t hang on his lips and feel his skin on your body should have been considered a form of torture in itself. Then, time always went by so much slower than usually.
When you had both shed off your clothes, he climbed back on top of you. Instead of straddling your hips he was now resting between your legs. There was nothing separating you from him, and it was apparent not only through the body heat that radiated off him. He reached down and whilst peppering kisses on your chest, slid his fingers through your slick arousal that was pooling in your core.
“You’re so wet,” he said in surprise, but couldn’t hide his approval and self-confidence in his voice.
“I know,” you said, rolling your eyes but simultaneously fighting the urge to moan at the smallest of touches he was teasing your with. “I’m so horny. Can’t we skip foreplay?”
“Poor doll,” he said. “I should’ve come over earlier, huh?”
“You know that wasn’t possible,” you said. With a desperate look, you pleaded him silently.
“I wanna taste you,” he said, but your put your hand on his cheek softly.
“Maybe later?” you said. “Please, I need to have you inside of me. Now.”
“You’re extra cute when you’re this needy,” he smiled. “Are there still condoms in your nightstand?”
You nodded and had never moved so fast to open a drawer in your life. Pretending to have any patience left, you waited for him to roll on the rubber.
“I love the way you look at me,” he said. “When you’re waiting for me. Could watch you for hours.”
“God, I hope you won’t. Come here, please?” you replied, making him chuckle. He lined himself up with your core, but then made no inclination to move ahead. His dark eyes and little head tilt told you everything.
“Don’t mess with me anymore,” you whined, reaching for the back of his neck to pull him closer. “Do it. H/N.”
“Beg for it.” His words twisted something in the pit of your stomach. Although you were burning with hunger, you could never say no to him. Then again, you were curious to see what would happen if you did.
“What if I don’t? Don’t you want to fuck me as much as I want it?” you challenged him. Something glinted in his eyes, and you knew you shouldn’t have even brought it up.
“I can always do this,” he said, and you followed his eyes down his body and to where he had wrapped his hand around his cock. Slowly, he jerked himself off, and you weren’t sure he was biting his lip because of the feeling or to discompose you. His small sigh should’ve been caused by you. This wasn’t what you had wanted. His tip was right by your slit. He could’ve pushed his length in so easily, and yet he wasn’t. Debating what to say, you kept your eyes trained on his hard member that looked so delicious in his hands. His deep groans rang in your ears. It didn’t take long for you to cave.
“Fuck. That should be me around you,” you said. “That should be my pussy you’re fucking and not your hands. Please.”
“Isn’t that right?” he said.
“Yes. Please, fuck me. I would feel so much better than your hands, and you know it. Please,” you whined. “I need you right now H/N. Please.”
You added another ‘please’ – for good measure – because the way his tongue darted out and licked his smirking lips could make you say anything if it would get him to fuck you.
“It’s okay, I’ll take care of you,” he said. “Think you can take me?”
“Yes, yes-, I can! Please, fuck me,” you said in a waterfall of words, and he chuckled handsomely.
“Good girl,” he said, running a gentle hand over your head. “If it’s too much you let me know.”
“As always.”
The tip of his cock gently pushed into your core, making you hold your breath as he entered you slowly. It caused you to feel every inch with every second. Your brain felt fuzzy, and you sighed gratefully at the relief.
“Fuck, you’re so perfect,” he moaned. The carefulness in his thrusts paired with his moon eyes at you only remained that way for a few seconds. Then, he straightened up and grabbed your hips to drag you in closer. You moaned helplessly when he almost pulled out completely, so slowly it almost made you crazy, only to slam his length into you until his tip brushed against the deepest spot inside of you. It was an action he repeated over and over, until you were reduced to a puddle of desperate whimpers, and you clasped the bedsheets in your hands tightly.
“You like it this way, little one?” he asked. He was apparently finding enjoyment in your reaction. How you could barely keep your eyes open, and when you did, your eyeballs threatened to roll to the back of your head. How your fingers clenched around the closest plushie, and you cradled it against your chest in bliss.
“Yes- fuck,” you said. “Feels so good.”
Of course, right as you said this, he had to change things up. His thrusts turned lazy and messy as he leaned backwards slightly. With an equally lazy demeanor, his thumb flicked over your clit, rubbing circles on it.
“Let me hear you. Say my name,” he said, and you quietly moaned his name. You adored the way it sounded, voiced like this, with barely more than a breath underneath your soft tone. Now and then, his cock slipped out of you, making you clench around nothing and furthermore had you going completely out of your mind. When he would push himself into your opening again, it felt as if it was the first time he was entering you today. Except you felt it repeatedly, each time as incredible as the previous. Your mouth hung open, rendered speechless except for the little moans and whimpers sounding from your throat. There was a familiar knot beginning to form in your stomach, tying firmer with each passing minute.
As if he could read your mind, he decided then he was done with his sweet torture of teasing you to an orgasm. You couldn’t be mad at him, though, because what he had planned was just as perfect, if not better. His hands wandered to their original place on your sides, and he began to snap his hips into yours at a faster pace. A small cry of surprise left your lips, while he only smirked at you through heavy-lidded eyes. Impulsively, you lifted your legs a little, intensifying the feeling of his member roughly dragging through your velvet walls.
“H/N, I’m so close,” you whimpered.
“Me too,” he replied, not slowing down for a second.
His broad frame towering over your body was a sight you would never get enough of and his gazes at you were hot enough that they could have stopped your heart in its tracks. A few strands of hair stuck to his forehead and there was a thin sheet of sweat on his neck. It all just made him more breathtaking to you. The slight pain from his nails digging into the skin on your waist was staggering, and you could barely wait to see the masterpiece of marks he would leave tonight.
You were a moaning mess, flying on cloud nine and simultaneously overwhelmed by his treatment of you. It clouded your mind at took over your whole body like you were made for him to fuck you. His length filled up your tight hole and he did it with such force that your whole body rocked into your mattress in a steady, fast-paced rhythm. He let go of your waist then and supported himself on his arm by the side of your head. When his other hand went to your neck you shuddered in anticipation.
“You should see yourself with my hand around your throat,” he said. “So pretty, little one.”
“We can do it in front of a mirror sometime- ,” you suggested, but were cut off at the end of the sentence as his fingers tightened on your neck. Instantly, the effect of it hit you. The lack of oxygen made your head swim in a sea of pleasure and the unrelenting desire to come. Through fluttering eyelids, you peeked up at him. The way he licked his lips and then clenched his jaw, the gorgeous shape of his collarbones and shoulders – you sometimes wondered if he was even real. Every so often he loosened his grip on you. When he did, you took gulps of air and then instantly whined for him to choke you again.
“Let go for me,” he said. “Show me your pretty face when I make you come. I’m fucking you well, aren’t I?”
You nodded as well as you could when he was gripping your throat and you couldn’t breathe properly at the moment. It didn’t matter you couldn’t talk. He was probably not expecting you to answer, either way. In a pleasure-induced trance, you closed your eyes and let it happen, like he had asked it from you. Your hazy consciousness barely registered that he was reaching his high with you. Too overcome were you, with your thighs trembling uncontrollably and your back arching off the mattress. He had let go of your neck and was riding out his own orgasm with sloppy thrusts that only sent you into another frenzy and had you whimpering his name softly. When he had finished too, he slowed down and pulled you into a gentle kiss, rubbing his nose against yours sweetly.
“That was amazing,” he said, and with a blissful hum you nodded. Your lips changed into a pout when he rolled off you and got up. You were tired of sending him back home so quickly. As he discarded the condom in the bin, you put on your most enchanting eyes, so he would have no other choice.
“Stay a little longer, please,” you asked. You knew he wanted to, as well. So although he was aware that your brother could return at any moment, he tumbled back into bed with you.
“Just for a little while,” he said. “Mhm…you’re so perfect to cuddle, baby.” His embrace was warm and his scent comforting, as he hummed a lovely melody. The soft touch of his fingers running through your hair lulled you right into a light sleep. You were awoken rather abruptly, and with half a heart attack.
“Hey Y/N, have you seen my charger- “ your brother’s voice suddenly broke through the silence and you wondered if you would have to pack up and leave the country after this sort of embarrassment.
“It’s not what it looks like,” you said, knowing well enough it was the dumbest thing you could have said. But who could blame you? You had only woken up two seconds ago.
“Really?” your brother asked. “Because I hear H/N sneak into our house so often lately, I’m starting to wonder if his parents threw him out.”
His tone was surprisingly calm.
“I’m sorry. I should’ve told you,” H/N said to your brother. “I thought you’d hate me and that we’d be over as friends.”
“I know I told you once to leave Y/N alone. But now…I guess it’s cool. She’s been in a great mood lately, and if that’s thanks to you, I think I can approve of you two. Although I’m not looking forward to being a third wheel, I think I can get used to it if I try hard enough,” your brother said. You couldn’t believe your ears, and involuntarily smiled like a fool. No more hiding. No more secrets.
“I stole your charger. I’m sorry,” you said then, making your brother roll his eyes. “It’s by the sofa in the living room.”
“Great. I needed a reason to leave anyway,” your brother said. “I might approve of you, but this situation is still too awkward. I’ll see you tomorrow, then, H/N?”
“I’ll see you tomorrow,” the boy in your bed said.
“You’ll see me too!” you added as a joke, as your brother already walked away from the door.
“Unfortunately I will!” your brother shouted, with the unnerving tone only a big brother could possibly muster.

It's Mikey's birthday, so I thought why not write something for it. Again, this is a future Mikey, it might not be canon but I really don't care. Oh and gn reader.
I'm trying to do more fics for Tokyo Revengers, I do requests but even if I don't get many that doesn't mean that I won't keep trying to write. The next character I'm writing for is Kazutora.
Tumblr media
Warnings: Smut, alcohol. No minors please.
Word Count: 2,967
You knew what was going to happen, not like it was a problem to you at all. It was Mikey's day, and everyone would make a big deal out of it. Of course, they would. Everyone loved Mikey.
Everyone was planning on heading over to Mikey's place, bringing food and stuff for him. Mikey had lost a lot of important people. Everyone made sure his birthdays were always a big deal.
You didn't mind it. Well, at least, you tried to look like it didn't bother you. It was just that you wanted to show Mikey how much he meant to you, so you were planning on getting him all to yourself so you could treat him.
Mikey's friends were your friends. When he needed someone to talk to, and you weren't there, he would always go to them. It was mainly you and Takemichi who drilled that into his head.
------
These guys, and you, were adults, so there was alcohol. You made sure to drink as small of it as possible. You wanted your mind to remain calm and clear.
It was nice. Everyone talked about the past, laughed about all the memories they remembered.
The mood of the room was great. Everyone was enjoying themselves. It was nice seeing Mikey with a genuine smile on his face.
Of course, the more liquor that was drunk, the more personality everyone had. Takemichi would cry at everything, the crying making him sleep under the kotatsu. Mitsuya appeared normal, and Draken was a little quieter. But Mikey hadn't had the same amount that everyone else had. It looked like he wanted to remember this day and have a clear head, just like you.
You and Mikey had been together for a while. Neither of you had moved in together yet. But whenever he needed you, you would always be there to listen to him. Or come over and cuddle together for as long as he liked.
The way his attitude changed whenever you or his friends appeared, you wanted to give him a reason to keep smiling and laughing. You were close to suggesting that the two of you move in with each other.
You were snapped out of your thoughts by Kazutora's voice. "I something wrong, (Y/N)?" He asks.
"Hmm? No, I'm fine, just lost in thought, I guess," you reply, smiling at him.
Kazutora says nothing and goes back to the conversation everyone else was having.
You could feel Mikey beside you, his arm snaking around yours, pulling you closer. His chin rests on your shoulder.
"I'm so lucky to have you, (Y/N)," Mikey says quietly.
"Are you drunk?" You ask bluntly.
"Shut up. I haven't had that much,"
"Of course you haven't," you say sarcastically. You knew that Mikey hadn't had that much, but you wanted to be playful, so, of course, you teased him about being around it all.
"Why do you have to treat me this way?" Mikey asks playfully, pouting and looking you in the eye.
"You know I don't mean it," you reply, smiling at him.
Mikey hadn't had much of a childhood, well, at least, not in his teenage years. It surprised you when he bought up his past life, Toman and everything that had happened. Mikey always seemed a little depressed, but it made sense when you found out about everything. You got close to him, became an ear for him whenever he needed to vent and rant. Then Mikey needed you in another way, causing him to admit his feeling mid-conversation. Things went from there, and you've been together seven months now.
The two of you didn't go slow. When you needed each other, you were both there. You would stay at each other's places quite often, too. Mikey's comfort blanket was something you never took away from him, so you let him be and became comfortable with it. Day by day, you became closer, and trust between the two of you grew. To everyone else, it was like he was a teenager again.
The night went on, the two of you never really leaving each other's side. Mikey was never this clingy with you, but tonight he was. Everyone's presence was the gift he loved the most.
Your elbow rested on the table, chin resting in the palm of your hand. Mikey was happy, smiling and laughing. It was something you always loved seeing.
"Aww, the way you're looking at Mikey, it's obvious that you love him," Hina says, worming her way closer to you.
You shrugged like Hina had seen right through you. It wasn't something that had embarrassed you as much as it used to. Everyone could see how much you adored Mikey. The way you would look at each other was apparent to anyone.
"I've seen you look at Takemichi the same way, though, Hina," you teased slightly.
Hina giggles a little at your response. They had been together for so long. You admired them for it.
Takemichi wasn't used to drinking this much. Hina was there to switch his drinks to water now and again. Mitsuya would do the same with everyone else, especially if they're acting a little rowdier.
------
It was way past midnight, and everyone had had fun. You watched as everyone left, saying goodnight as everyone did so.
The mess at the kotatsu could wait until later. The time spent around everyone had completed drained you and your energy.
You were tired. Standing up, you stretch your arms above your head, yawning as you did.
Your eyes were closed as you yawned, so you hadn't noticed Mikey getting closer to you, eventually his arms wrapped around your waist and lifting you a little off the floor.
"What's this for?" You ask, wrapping your arms around his neck and your feet touched the floor again.
"For putting up with someone like me," Mikey replies.
"Stop right there, you," your hands cup his face, "it's your birthday, no sappy shit,"
Mikey pouts at you. It looked like he didn't like your response.
You pull Mikey's face closer to yours, peppering his lips with kisses. It was such a sweet and caring series of kisses. You wanted him to be happy. There was no way in hell you'd let him be sad, not on today of all days.
Your hands slowly left Mikey's face and, instead, rested on his shoulder or collarbone.
The more kisses you kept planting on his lips, the more heated the room got.
You were going to show him just how much you loved and adored Mikey. It didn't matter how tired you were. You stuck with your plan.
The problem was that when Mikey wanted something, he made sure to get it.
Naturally, a fight ensued between your tongues. The way they glided over each other was enough to make you want to fall to the floor and just let him take you there and then. But you didn't want to give into him. If it were a fight Mikey wanted, then he'd get it.
"M-Mikey," you moan quietly against his mouth.
Mikey's hands gently cup the sides of your neck, holding you still as he pecks your lips a few times before biting down on your lower lip.
You felt like you were on fire. The hands you placed on Mikey's chest moved to his hands, pulling him over to the couch before kissing him quickly, letting go of his hands and roughly shoving him onto it.
Mikey's dark eyes were darker, and his face flushed red by all the kissing you were doing. He knew what you wanted to do, and he had no intention of stopping you right now.
"You didn't wait all day just to do this, did you?" Mikey asks playfully, his hand sifting through his hair as you lower yourself down in between his legs.
"Maybe," you reply, laying the side of your head on his thigh, your hands working on the button and zip of his jeans. You tugged roughly on the top of his jeans and boxers, and his erection soon was freed from its trap.
The cool air hit Mikey's erection, causing him to hiss and groan at the sudden feeling.
"You gonna make me feel good, pretty girl?"
"Is that what you want from me, Mikey?"
His hands reach your face, tilting you up and planting a soft kiss on your lips.
"I'll let you do whatever you want, just for now, at least,"
Mikey's hands move from your face, and he leans his back against the sofa, patiently waiting for you to make a move.
Then you lay your tongue flat against the head of his dick, sliding it up to its tip, the tip of your tongue played with his slit.
Mikey's grip was mainly on his hair, not yours. The last thing he wanted to do was to ram himself into your mouth.
There was something about you domming him that made Mikey shiver with excitement. Even you putting him in his place was enough to get him erect, but that would also make him want to destroy you right there and then.
The eyes that gazed down at you as you reached his base, slowly licking up his length, were dark, darker than usual. There could be dangerous thoughts lingering behind them. You sat there, a sudden shiver running down your spine from the devilish thoughts running through you.
You used your mouth so well on him, sucking on his head once your tongue reached his head again.
All that Mikey could do was sit there, the feeling of your wet, hot mouth sending him insane. It was almost torturous. Why hadn't you taken him all into your mouth yet? It was making him impatient.
The way Mikey bit his lower lip and let out a low groan, you could tell that he was getting impatient, but you didn't care all that much. You were going to take your time. The next time you do something, if Mikey decided to go all out and be as rough as he wanted to, then that was down to you and your actions right now.
Your lips left a string of kisses from his base up to his tip, smiling once your mouth left Mikey's length.
"You're not getting impatient, are you?" You coyly ask, leaning your chin on Mikey's thigh. Your hand roughly tugged on his dick, squeezing it lightly as you pumped your hands up and down on him.
The eyes that were watching your mouth before now watching your hand.
"Please, just stop fucking teasing me already," Mikey begs, his hand gripping onto the couch tightly, knuckles pale. "I need you, so damn much,"
"Since you asked nicely, I suppose I could give you what you want," you say in a teasing tone.
You wasted no time now. Teasing Mikey went out the window.
Once your mouth slowly came down on him, Mikey held his breath, eyes closed tightly. It didn't matter how many times you had sucked him off. Mikey could never get tired of it.
You wanted to take your time, make him feel as good as he made you felt when he took control.
As much as you wanted to edge him, it wasn't right to do that, not today.
Mikey tried as hard as possible not to buck his hips up. You were making him feel so much, but he desperately needed more from you.
You started bobbing your head faster, the tip of his dick hitting the start of your throat.
"Oh, fuck," Mikey groaned quietly, leaning his head back against the couch, his eyes still closed.
You released him for a few seconds to get some air into your lungs, then get back to doing what you were doing.
Once you got used to the pace and speed, you tried your best breathing through your nose. When you knew you could handle it a little, you would halt your movements on him when his head touched the start of your throat. The need to gag hit you when you stilled for too long, your head moving back up, bobbing on him again.
The noises escaping from Mikey's mouth, even if they were low and breathy, were enough motivation for you to keep going.
"(Y/N)," Mikey groans, his eyes open, staring down at you.
He was close. The way he groaned your name was enough of a hint. You kept your pace, not feeling any need to speed up.
Whenever you glanced up at Mikey's face, all you saw was dark lust filling his eyes. It must've been difficult for him to control himself. His hands still gripped the couch tightly. If he felt like it, he could readily grasp your hair and be as rough with you as he wanted. But once you started, the control you had would be difficult to stop. Plus, you looked angelic to him.
A string of curses leaves Mikey's mouth, a few groans of your name, and he came into your mouth. Without any hesitation, you swallowed, not wanting to waste anything.
You were breathless, your face just as flushed and as pink as Mikey's.
Standing up, Mikey's hand rushed to your waist. The heat in the room spurred your actions as your lips once again found his, picking up where you last left off.
Air hardly hit your lungs, and you were right back into him. The hands that were at your waist rushed to removed both your clothes. It was slow at first, but then the passion hit both of you quickly. Your clothes were off in no time at all.
You were close to being pushed down onto the couch, but you quickly stopped him.
"Let me show you how much I love you before you take control, okay?" You ask, trying not to be forceful but loving.
A soft smile lit up Mikey's face. He understood you, let you do your own thing. Those words were signalling that you hadn't finished. Giving yourself to him was kind of like a birthday present.
One knee at a time moved onto the couch. A hand reaches Mikey's shoulders again as you hover your entrance over the tip of his dick. Slowly you sunk onto him, his length fully engulfed by you.
You let out a breathy moan, moving both your hands to the back of Mikey's head, sifting through his hair as you slowly moved up and down on him.
Both of your eyes stared directly into each other, never wanting to lose their focus. Mikey was far too precious to let go of, and you were too damn incredible for him to want to let go of you, his hands worming their way up to your back, resting lightly on your shoulder blades.
Slowly, your speed increased, your hips desperately trying to slam down onto him. Your movements sent both of you into heaven, making you hotter and needier by the second.
Your moans made it more difficult for Mikey to control himself. Right now, you were the most dangerous thing to him, but you were the one thing he needed the most.
"You're so good to me," Mikey groans, his hands sliding down your back, groping your ass.
"I love you so fucking much," you say before pushing your mouth onto his.
"I know you do, beautiful," Mikey groans between kisses, "I love you too. You feel so fucking good,"
You pull away, leaving Mikey breathless. The hands that were on your ass moved to your thighs, grabbing onto your skin tightly. He was so damn desperate to snap his hips up, wanting to look at your face as your eyes roll to the back of your head.
The feeling of his head hitting your g-spot sent you insane, causing you to try to be a little rougher. Your hands were desperate to cling to his hair.
That constant movement against that spot was enough for your orgasm to creep up, your walls contracting around Mikey as you struggled to move.
"Fuck, (Y/N), I'm close," Mikey groans.
Your eyes were focused on each other again, wanting to watch yourselves as you eventually succumbed to the feeling of your release. Your breathy moans hit Mikey's face as you rushed to your end, hips snapping down onto him.
The feeling of your walls around him made Mikey hiss, his hands trying not to leave scratches on your back.
"Shit," you cry as you came, trying hard not to stop your movements, but it was almost too much. You tried no to be lazy and continued attempting to let Mikey come.
You close your eyes as your hips moved down on him. Mikey bit his lower lip as he came, holding your hips still as he did.
The two of you were tired, not just from what you had just done, but from the little party that had happened.
Both your eye wandered to the scene behind yourselves. It wasn't going to be fun cleaning all this up later.
"Was this supposed to be a gift to me?" Mikey asks playfully, his voice tired.
"Why, wasn't what I got you good enough?" You respond, faking being hurt by him.
He laughs a little at your response. "Do you want to clean this up now or later?"
"I mean, I won't say no if you're insistent,"
"But I don't want to do that now,"
"Then don't. We can do it later,"
"That's if I don't feel like repaying you,"
"Repaying me?" You were playing being clueless, but you knew what Mikey meant. There was hope inside you that he might, at least, have mercy on you and not make it difficult for you to walk for the next few days.

Robyn
Rowaelin Month, Day Ten
Tumblr media
A/N: I'd planned on posting them in order, but you get what you get. Idk when the other prompts will come tbf. I hope soon. Anyway, I managed to write over 6k words today and I'm pretty fucking proud.
This is just fluff over fluff, so yep enjoy!!
Word count: 3,047
Rowan was unbelievably late as he sped through the streets of Orynth.
So late that the school had called not only him, but also the front desk of the place where he worked when he hadn't answered the call on his personal phone. Sorscha, his assistant, had entered his office with an embarrassed smile on her lips, as if she didn't want to tell him that he had forgotten for the umpteenth time to pick up his daughter from school.
Lorcan had joined him, for some strange reason, but Rowan had stopped bothering when it came to his best friend. He'd been trying to figure out how he reasoned for years and had come to the conclusion that there was no logical sense in the actions of the man sitting next to him, who was currently singing at the top of his lungs to one of the songs on the Frozen CD - which much to the chagrin of both of them, had gotten stuck in his car radio months before, forcing them into hours of torture.
He would never deny that the songs were all quite catchy, but after the sixteenth time Rowan had had to listen to Let It Go at maximum volume, his positive opinion of the film had begun to waver.
As they pulled into the school parking lot, Rowan noticed with deep regret that the only cars still there were those of the teachers and school staff.
They both got out of the car, Rowan walking quickly towards the entrance while Lorcan dragged behind him.
He greeted the caretakers sitting at the entrance, who returned a big smile. A smile that grew even wider when his large, imposing friend entered a few moments later. He stopped to talk to the old ladies and Rowan walked down the corridor he knew led to Robyn's classroom.
He could hear muffled voices from inside the teachers' room on the left and the one he knew belonged to Miss Galathynius coming from the right. He looked out over the classroom, spotting the two people sitting at a desk.
As soon as his daughter saw him, her eyes widened and a huge smile flashed across her face.
No words. No "hello, daddy!" or "I missed you!" from the little girl.
Her teacher turned as she leapt out of her chair and ran towards him, hugging his legs and looking up at him. Rowan smiled at her in turn, running a hand over her hair that was shot in every direction.
"Hello, little bird," he murmured to her. The child's smile widened even more if that was possible.
The woman a few feet away from them pulled herself upright, crossing her arms over her chest and offering a sincere smile to the child, who hid behind his thighs.
Rowan was about to tell her that Robyn was shy with everyone like this, ready to defend his daughter's behaviour as he was used to doing in front of every adult, but he was beaten to the punch.
"It's good to see you, Mr Whitethorn," she said, extending a hand. Rowan shook it without hesitation. "Actually, I just wanted to write you a letter regarding Robyn," she continued, never taking her eyes off the little girl. "Nothing serious," she hastened to reassure him when Rowan grimaced, "quite the contrary. Robyn is remarkably good. One of the best in the class, though I shouldn't offer that information so bluntly."
Miss Galathynius winked at him, but he couldn't process what he'd just been told.
"Sorry, could you-"
The little hands clamped around his trousers tightened a fraction more and Rowan looked down, trying to figure out what was bothering his daughter, but then something happened that he hadn't even dared to dream about in recent times.
"You're here!"
The little girl broke off and ran away from him in less than the blink of an eye.
Rowan turned just in time to see Lorcan grab Robyn in mid-air, spinning her around as he brought her to his chest and showered her with kisses. The loud, incessant laughter that erupted from her seemed too much coming from that fragile little body, but he never tired of hearing it.
"Why hello baby!" said Lorcan laughing in turn, starting to tickle her until she begun to rebel and he was forced to let her slide to the floor. Robyn was still laughing at the top of her lungs and nearly fell to the ground as she squealed left and right, letting herself be pushed around by the closest thing to an uncle she had ever had.
When Rowan turned back to the woman, she was wide-eyed and her lips slightly parted as she watched the massive man dressed completely in black and the menacing face turn into a completely different person the second he had seen Robyn.
He chuckled, "I know, it's not every day you get to see a little girl be so comfortable with a brute like that."
Lorcan, who was listening to everything, looked him straight in the eye and without stopping smiling and playing with the little girl, mouthed to him to fuck off.
"Well, yeah. You caught me a little off guard." she confessed, still shocked to hear how Robyn was having a full conversation with Lorcan. They couldn't hear anything of what she was actually saying, but even just the fact she was talking to someone seemed to have Aelin unsettled.
She returned her attention to Rowan and let out a breath that sounded more like a giggle, "I've never heard her laugh before."
He nodded, blushing a little at the teacher's surprised but relieved tone.
"I'm sure the dean warned you about the problem she has," he said in a low voice. He grimaced at her poor choice of words, "I mean, not problem, but the difficulty she finds in interacting with people she doesn't know."
Liar, he told himself. Robyn hadn't spoken to anyone but him and Lorcan since the day Lyria had died. It wasn't a difficulty, but a response to the trauma that prevented her from speaking to anyone who wasn't part of her immediate family.
"I know, I know. We've been looking for solutions together." she informed him. "I give her a white board every morning. Come on, I'll show you." she turned to the desk they were sitting at earlier and raised the magnetic board, on which a few words were scribbled on. "I'll write here what she might need. Yes. No. I need to go to the bathroom. I'm thirsty. I'm hungry." she read, listing the various options. Rowan gaped. "We've only just started going over the alphabet for a second time, so she can't really read or write yet, as I imagine you know, but the little drawings next to each sentence help her."
She continued talking, but he couldn't quite follow.
The woman in front of him - aside from being breathtakingly beautiful - had done as much as she could to help her child with communication.
"Mr. Whitethorn-"
"Rowan. Please, call me Rowan." he said, clearing his throat once he realized how hoarse it sounded to his ears. Lorcan walked up to them at that point, still holding Robyn in his arms and positioned himself next to him, letting their shoulders touch in a comforting way.
"Call me Aelin, then," she smiled at them both. Then she made a small grimace, turning to Rowan, "I wanted to ask if it bothered you, that I sought a solution like that. Maybe I put her in distress, embarrassed her. I'm sorry if I gave you the impression that I wanted to solve this on my own. I really wanted to discuss it with you, with your husband too, to avoid misunderstandings. Maybe we could arrange a meeting."
He was about to tell her that she had given him the exact opposite of annoyance, that he had been more than pleased that she had helped Robyn this way, when her words finally registered.
Lorcan, beside him, had opened his mouth wide and his lips were slowly bending into a mischievous smile.
Rowan furrowed his brow, "I'm sorry, what?"
Aelin's smile seemed to falter. "A meeting? With you? To talk about how to handle the situation," then she shifted her gaze to Lorcan, "You're more than welcome to join as well. I didn't know Robyn had two dads, I apologise for assuming Robyn had a mum and dad. That was very rude of me-"
"I love this," Lorcan whispered, laughing in shock. He turned to Rowan with eyes that sparkled with amusement, "I would definitely be the top."
Rowan looked at him with an expression of complete shock on his face, "What the fuck are you talking about?"
Robyn gasped, opening her eyes wide and bringing a hand to her mouth, pointing then to Rowan's.
"Yeah, sorry, love. I shouldn't have said the bad word." he apologised, giving her a quick kiss on the forehead. He turned back to Miss Galathynius, "I'm sorry to have to disappoint you, but we're not married."
"No need to lie, sweetie. I'm sure Aelin," he gave her a knowing look, "doesn't mind at all about our relationship status."
Aelin nodded, "Well, yes. That doesn't change anything. Mr..." she turned to Lorcan, searching for a name.
"Salvaterre."
"Mr. Salvaterre can still attend. The fact that you are not yet married is no reason why you cannot both be present at the meeting. You don't have to worry, we are a very tolerant school and if anyone bothers you, you can come directly to me."
A sound of sheer glee escaped Lorcan.
Aelin continued, "I mean it. I was pleased to see both of you today. I was also pleased to see Robyn smiling so much." she concluded, looking the little one in the face.
Rowan took a deep breath, bracing himself, "No, I meant, we're not a couple. We're not gay. He's her uncle."
The woman's blonde eyebrows shot up and a second later she turned almost as red as the dress Robyn was wearing as Lorcan shook his head muttering something very much like 'you're no fun', which made Robyn giggle.
"Why did you even get off the car?" he asked him exasperated.
Lorcan shrugged, "Because I missed my little bean, you monster." he replied, clutching Robyn to his chest. The little girl clutched Lorcan's shirt in her chubby little hands and Rowan huffed, shaking his head.
Aelin brought her hands to her face, leaning against the desk behind her. She shook her head, her face still hidden, "Oh, god. I'm so sorry."
Lorcan let out a dry laugh, "Don't worry about it. It was fun while it lasted." then he turned to Rowan again, who was still trying to recover from the idea of being involved in a relationship with his friend, "You're really no fun."
"Yeah, no fun dad." repeated Robyn.
Silence fell over the class. Rowan looked at her with wide eyes and blinked once, twice. Robyn was staring at him with a sweet scowl that mimicked so much that of the man who was still holding her, but Rowan couldn't get over the fact that his daughter had spoken while Aelin was still beside them.
He was about to talk, noticing how Robyn had started squirming in Lorcan's arms, when there was a knock at the door.
They both turned, Aelin peering over Rowan's shoulder, and saw the figure of a petite girl with black hair and eyes standing in the doorway, watching them with her head slightly bent to the side. She had a tag on her t-shirt that was too colourful to belong to someone who didn't work in a school with children, so he guessed she was a teacher herself. Besides, Rowan felt like he'd seen her elsewhere. Probably every day when he picked Robyn up from school, he said to himself.
"I know you're not supposed to eavesdrop but I stopped by earlier and heard you were a couple of dads," she said by way of introduction. "I just wanted to reassure you that the school is an extremely safe place. I'm the one who did most of the interviews with the parents," that's where they had met then, "and one of the questions that is asked is just about the tolerance of the people who will be attending the school."
Aelin watched her, remaining silent the whole time and putting on an amused smile, nodded, "That's what I was telling them. How tolerant the school is. They make such a cute couple, don't you think, Elide?"
Rowan turned to her, arching an eyebrow, silently asking her what she was doing. The woman, as if she could truly understand what he was trying to convey to her, nodded her head towards Lorcan, who Rowan only then noticed was standing weirdly, his eyes fixed on the woman in the doorway.
He grinned, deciding to take his revenge right away. "Oh, yes. Thank you so much for the reassurance," Rowan began to play along as well. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Lorcan turn towards him, dropping Robyn to the floor, who made a disapproving noise at being dumped so suddenly. "We are happy to know that this school is a safe place for our daughter. And for us."
Elide offered him a blinding smile, "Good. I'm happy to hear that you are pleased so far. And I am happy that Aelin is the one who is taking your daughter's class. She's the best one here."
Rowan didn't know her yet, but he knew the thing Elide had just said could only be true.
"Well," she said again, giving them an apologetic smile, "I really must go now, but if you need anything, you can find all my contact details on the website. Have a nice day!"
Aelin and Rowan said their goodbyes, thanking her. Lorcan took a while to recover, but when he realised he was staring into empty space he ran towards the door, almost stepping on little Robyn, who was moved by Aelin.
"We are very much not gay, miss!" he shouted into the hallway. Aelin, now beside him and with a hand on Robyn's shoulder, cackled. With Lorcan's infinite luck, someone walked by just then and gave him a stern look. "Oh, shut up ma'am. I'm an ally. The best ally."
Rowan shook his head as Lorcan launched himself in pursuit of the poor teacher and burst out laughing when he heard him shout, "I'm not homophobic! I'm willing to suck someone's cock if I have to prove it to you!"
Aelin opened her mouth wide before bursting out laughing in turn.
Robyn, seeing both adults so happy, giggled too and Rowan bent down to pick her up. The little girl laid her full head of white-light hair on his shoulder and closed her eyes.
She was tired and Rowan really needed to get her home to sleep.
He glanced at Aelin and reduced his lips to a thin line, "I'm sorry about the commotion, I'll try not to bring him into the building again. Even if it means tying him to the seat."
The soft laugh she gave made something tighten in his chest. He frowned.
Aelin didn't seem to notice the effect she had on him, "Don't worry, Elide is crazy about fools like him. If he says the right things, we might start seeing each other outside of school too."
Rowan nodded, now too caught up in the thought of having to take Robyn home to focus on anything else.
They agreed on when to hold the parent-teacher meeting and then he grabbed Robyn's backpack, walking towards the exit.
He was thoughtless as he reached into his pocket for his keys and balanced everything else - including the girl - on his other arm, but when Robyn's hand brushed his cheek, he looked down and his eyes met their twins. Green against green.
"What is it?"
The little girl's voice never stopped making him smile. Each time was like the first time she had said dada.
"I really like her."
Rowan frowned, "Who?"
"Miss Aelin." she whispered, almost as if she was afraid they might hear her.
He smiled at her, "Yeah? You like her?"
"She's nice to me."
Rowan had to put her down as he opened the door and let her get into the back seats by herself.
"I'm glad she's treating you well, love," he let her know, buckling her in.
He hoped she'd tell him more about her new teacher, but like any kid her age, the topic of conversation couldn't last for more than four lines apiece, "Where's Uncle Lorcan?"
Rowan snorted, "No idea, little bird."
Robyn nodded, "Elide is pretty too."
And as if those words had summoned him, Lorcan appeared beside the car, making them both scream. He entered the car in a heartbeat and turned to his daughter, who was still settling into the seat. "Do you know Miss Lochan?"
But before she could answer him, Rowan had entered the car in turn and smacked the back of his head, which made the Robyn giggle, "You're not using my daughter as your wingman. Now stop it and buckle up."
Lorcan gave him a gentle push, before doing as he was told and for once he was happy he'd convinced him to do something.
Or at least, Rowan thought he had convinced him.
"What if I left you a note to deliver to Miss Lochan, Rob? Would you be up for it?"
Rowan knew, even without looking at her, that she was nodding emphatically.
Keeping his eyes on the road, he murmured, "Could you stop calling my daughter Rob, please? You'll give her an existential crisis."
Lorcan clicked his tongue against his palate, "Rowan, I'm not giving her a damn thing. We live in this new world, okay? Your daughter could be called Simon and still be a beautiful princess. Grow up and educate yourself before you talk shit."
"Aaaah!" shouted Robyn, "Bad word!"
Rowan sighed and shook his head, but still he was smiling.
This was his life. Had been for the past two years.
And he wouldn't change it for the world.

snake | myg
pairing(s): yoongi x reader
summary: Your parents have no qualms on doing whatever they can to climb the social ladder. That includes assigning you a betrothed you've never met, an offering to the crown prince. You, the one the gossipers whisper under their breath... the Snake Princess.
warnings: implied parental emotional and physical abuse; language; non-idol!AU - prince!Yoongi x aristocrat!reader, ft overprotective (but secretly soft), tattooed, little brother!JK; based on this
“I don’t care what our father said, you’re not marrying him!”
You scratched your ear, partly shielding it from the loud voice of your brother.
“He’s an asshole!”
“You don’t know him?” you offered, affixing your earring, somewhat annoyed. The yellow gold wasn’t quite your style. Your parents liked such gaudy, ugly things.
Both in fashion and tradition, unfortunately.
“Do you?” your brother shot back, throwing himself up from your bed where he was yelling at the ceiling about nothing he could change. It was a favorite past time of his, along with following you around like a talkative shadow.
“No, that’s why I’m meeting him today,” you replied dryly. You switched to the other ear, adding the dragon-shaped ear cuff above the gold earring. Your parents hated it when you added such aggressive accessories – they’re not womanly, they would say – but if you were going to be betrothed to some guy on the sole basis that they had ambitions and he was the man who so happened to be the next-in-line for the throne, you weren’t going to lie about what kind of woman you were.
“Aren’t you pissed?”
You shrugged. “Is it so bad?”
“Yes!”
You sighed and flickered your eyes to the mirror, seeing Jeon Jungkook’s furious expression, long black hair tied back with lingering strands framing his high cheekbones, his black and gold robes wild, poorly tied and revealing half of his tanned, toned chest. His dark brown eyes flashed, pressing his cherry-painted lips together, jawline sharp and defiant. That’s how Jungkook always looked, messy, undone, borderline furious.
Everyone called him the Reckless Prince.
You just called him little brother.
“Noona…”
“Hmm?”
You saw him frown and you looked away, running a hand through your hair, browsing your hair accessories. You used to have an aide to help you at one point, but you told your parents to get rid of them, preferring to get ready by yourself. And besides, Jungkook liked to burst in and interrupt you with his relentless tirades about how unfair your arranged marriage was. There was no point in having hired help when you could coerce your brother into doing things as you put up with him.
“Can I brush your hair?”
“You have arms and hands, so you’re physically capable, yes.”
You heard him click his tongue in annoyance and smirked, shifting your eyes to the mirror. He was behind you now, face no longer visible. It didn’t matter. You already knew his cross expression quite well. He snatched the ornate comb from your vanity, the black snake head clearly visible on the side of his right wrist, inked near his thumb. Your parents scolded and beat him for getting it, but Jungkook could care less, breaking the wooden paddle with ease, right out of your mother’s hand.
You hadn’t said anything.
The rumors called you the Snake Princess.
Quick-witted, sharp, vicious. Not to your face though, because that was just foolishness. It wouldn’t be only your wrath they would be evoking.
Jungkook ran the comb through your hair, gently separating the strands, careful not to pull too hard. He was better than any aide anyway. They merely yanked and pulled you into their standard of beauty, ignoring your opinions or input, always citing that it was important to not look like a peasant, important to always look above your status, using your beauty to save face.
Saving face.
You hated those words.
“What if he’s a horrible person?” your brother asked quietly, tucking the strands away from your eyes only for them to slip back stubbornly.
“Then he’s a horrible person,” you replied, applying your makeup. “And you’ll probably do something about it.”
Jungkook made a noise between an aggravated bear and an injured tiger.
“If he so much as puts one fingertip on you, I’ll kill him.”
You snorted. “I’d hate to tell you what marriage entails, Jungkook.”
The comb in your hair paused.
His anger subsided, just like that.
“You’re really going to do it?” he asked softly. “Really, really?”
You heard the pain in Jungkook’s voice.
You recalled when you received the news many years ago, silent fury as your parents gave you away, turning you into a transaction to raise their own reputation and status. Your reaction was nothing to your little brother’s, him running to your room and crying in your arms, distraught and upset that you were leaving him, declaring he hated your parents, everyone, and everything.
“You’re supposed to protect me,” Jungkook had sobbed, already too big for you to hold like this but you did anyway, patting his head and wiping his tears with your sleeve. “You’re supposed to be here, with me, forever and always.”
He had taken your hand, tucking his fingers in yours, pressing your pinkies together.
“You promised me.”
And you had, from the very beginning, the shy kid always following after you and making you speak for him, your parents yelling and scolding him to be a man, but you defending him, taking the slaps meant for him, sneaking him sweets when he was hiding his tears, telling him it was okay to cry and that noona would stay here and listen to his worries, no matter if it was as stupid as a butterfly flying away or the teacher once again reprimanding him for his poor scores.
The amount of pressure they put on him just because he was the son was immense.
“I wanna play,” he had cried softly. “I don’t have to study anymore.”
“You want to be stupid?” you had teased, patting his head. “What if I had my lessons with you? I can make that happen.”
“R-Really?”
So, you made it happen, telling your parents and tutors that it would be better for him to be exposed to more complex concepts earlier rather than later and watching someone learn would improve his own scores. You made yourself a better student for his benefit and he, in turn, followed obediently, doing what you did, always overjoyed to hear your praise.
You and your snake tongue could made anything happen for him.
“This servant is bothering me.”
You found some questionable information on that servant and they resigned rather quickly.
“I don’t like the girl our father introduced me to.”
Suddenly said girl was no longer interested in Jungkook. For… reasons.
“I wish I could go on vacation, even for a couple days.”
That one got you both beaten for your three-day adventure to the sea, mostly because you had to run away from your duties to do it. But it was worth it to see the smile on Jungkook’s face.
Then Jungkook became a teenager.
You might have taught him that rules were for old people, for the generation too uptight.
He wanted to do a whole lot of things and you made it happen. Getting him out of those sticky situations was a bit tough, but nothing unmanageable. And now Jungkook was a young adult who did not care about anyone’s opinion other than yours, getting tattooed and spending all of his time with his friends, lackadaisical and free, your parents giving up and calling him a disgrace, relying on your marriage to restore the reputation they valued so much, the face they themselves ruined with their own poor decisions, taking out their frustrations on you and Jungkook, sometimes without warning.
You stayed home, playing good daughter so Jungkook could be the bad son.
Ah, maybe it was your fault he was the Reckless Prince.
You turned, looking up at him now from the corner of your eye, up his loose robes and exposed collarbone, up the line of his jaw that was similar to yours, his lips not quite as full, his round brown orbs that were actually much more innocent and purer than he liked to admit, similar to your eye shape.
But not the same.
Because your eyes were sharper, cold-blooded, predatory.
Even with Jungkook, there was no mistaking the power behind your gaze.
“Do you think just because I’m married to some man that he can control my life?” you said with a sly smile, your lips painted lush red. “I’ll come visit you whenever I want. You can come whenever you want. You can live with me if you want.”
You turned back, sweeping your hair and twisting it in place, deftly and quickly pinning it back, leaving some strands loose and messy that your parents would highly disapprove of, but why did that matter? If this man was to be your husband, then he would see you completely undone at one point, so he should get used to it.
Your parents wouldn’t approve of the black and dark green combination you had chosen either, but that’s why you learned how to sew to dress yourself as you liked. You have to be a lady. You were a lady. Just your version of a lady and not theirs. They tried to gatekeep you by saying that the pink and yellow fabrics were all they could afford. They had a tendency to underestimate your craftiness.
No obstacle was too high for the Snake Princess to slither over.
“Really?” Jungkook asked as you stood up, smoothly adjusting the tie at your waist.
You chuckled at him as he began to follow you out of your bedroom.
“If that’s what you want, I’ll do it for you.”
-
“You brought your brother.”
“I don’t bring him anywhere. He comes and goes as he pleases.”
Jungkook was sitting behind you, arms crossed, glaring at the dark-haired man sitting in front of you. You had mildly fixed his appearance before entering only from him to push up his sleeves so he could reveal the entire snake tattoo wrapped around his arm, a black snake surrounded by thorned vines.
“Hmm.”
This man had requested to meet you first, alone, without the parents. Untraditional, but as long as his father agreed to the request, it was done. Your father had no say in the matter, although he did protest rather loudly and uncouthly.
You had poured the tea for your future husband and you.
Neither of you were drinking it.
The man before you had a piercing gaze, cloud-white skin, shapely lips. Somehow, he surprised you by being dressed in black and gold as well, although he was much neater than Jungkook, black hair tied back in a the usual, curated traditional style.
“I intend in marrying you, you know.”
He had a deep, rough voice, reminding you of dead leaves and winter.
“Is that not the point of this meeting?” was your dry response.
A dark eyebrow lifted.
Jungkook clicked his tongue dismissively.
Those shapely lips curved into a slow smirk.
“I thought I wouldn’t like you,” the dark-haired man mused, reaching over to the teacup and pulling it to him. “I was fully prepared to refuse this proposal and put your family more in the dirt than your brother has already put them into.”
“You bas–” Jungkook hissed, but you held up a hand, cutting him off.
You kept your eyes on those dark brown orbs, cat-like and predatory. He took a deep inhale of the aroma of the tea, letting out a satisfied, smokey sigh.
“I thought you would be like the others. Prim, proper, begging for me to take your hand.”
You raised an eyebrow. “What do I need to beg for? You either will or you won’t. It has nothing to do with me.”
A dark chuckle. “Indeed.”
He took a long sip of the tea, savoring it. You watched him swallow, his Adam’s apple bobbing, tongue flickering out to lick his lips. Slowly lowering his head, scrutinizing gaze on you. He made you wait for his words.
“And besides, snakes can’t kneel, can they, Snake Princess?” he purred.
“Don’t you dare call her that!”
“No, they cannot,” you replied calmly, ignoring Jungkook’s outburst, staring into the eyes of the man who was going to decide whether or not you were going to be his wife.
“They can’t pray either.”
The dark-haired man tilted his head, intrigued.
“I have no need for gods to be able to live the life I want, Min Yoongi,” you said quietly, venomous edge to your voice. “The ties you put on me cannot restrain me from living as frivolously or ambitiously as I like.”
Min Yoongi, the man who would decide whether you would live an honorable or disgraceful life, the man who was next-in-line, the crown prince. You were meant to be his, but, unlike you, he was free to refuse. Unlike you, he had nothing to lose. Unlike you, he could destroy your life in a heartbeat with a simple no.
“You believe that?” Yoongi questioned, daring you.
You didn’t back down, small serpentine smile on your lips.
“I do not need to believe when I know.”
Silence.
Then Yoongi’s shoulders shook, raspy laughing bubbling from his throat, smirk on his lips.
“You want me to refuse. You want to ruin your parents’ lives.”
You didn’t say anything, your smile fading.
“Ah, but the problem is, I really do like you, Snake Princess,” Yoongi hummed. “You sharp tongue and you even sharper mind. A simpler man would have been tricked by you.” He tapped his long fingers against the table, keeping his feline poise directed at you. “I did not want some placid, useless little thing but a real woman, someone who isn’t afraid to say what she thinks. Why have a trophy when you can have a weapon?”
He placed his chin on the back of his other hand, clicking his tongue thoughtfully.
“What shall we do then? You absolutely must be my wife.”
“You–” Jungkook hissed, rising up behind you, glaring at Yoongi over your shoulder. “You know she doesn’t want to marry you and yet you’re going to do it anyway?”
The dark-haired man raised an eyebrow. “She doesn’t want to marry me because she wants her parents to pay for using her so carelessly to further their status. However,” he added with a sweep of his hand on the table, palm upward towards you. “Has she actually said she has no interest in me as a person? During this entire meeting, has she declared that I, the crown prince, am not to her liking?”
Yoongi gave Jungkook a sharp look.
“Do you think she would hide her disdain for me if she had some?”
Silence.
“N… Noona?”
“Yes, Jungkook?”
“You don’t like him at all… right?”
Silence.
You let out a deep breath, slow and controlled.
“Hmm, you are very intuitive.”
Yoongi grinned. “You know we would be a good match, you and I. Here,” he murmured, pointing to the table. “On the throne.” Pointing outside, indicating the land. His cat-like eyes locked with your snake-like gaze, lips forming his next words slowly and deliberately.
“In bed.”
Your eyes trailed from those glittering dark eyes to his pleased smirk. Not a malicious expression somehow. An exciting one. You fully expected to be walking into this room to tear down an arrogant, gaudy man with grandiose self-centeredness.
Instead, it was Min Yoongi.
He ticked his chin to Jungkook, now right next you instead of behind you, clutching your arm tightly.
“Do you want him to be with you? That could be arranged. I can make that happen.”
You really thought you would hate Min Yoongi and yet it seemed as if you were being drawn closer and closer to him. You pursed your lips, not ready to give up yet. He continued.
“And, of course, there’s no reason for your parents to enjoy luxuries that they didn’t earn, is there?”
You narrowed your eyes at him. Yoongi smiled, calm with an underlying slyness.
“That would reflect on you if you treated your in-laws poorly,” you responded coolly.
Yoongi shrugged. “And so? I still have you.” He tilted his head. “Why take a wife if you’re not prepared to do anything for her?” He nodded to himself, tapping his fingertips on the table once more. “Whatever you want, I can make it happen. Be it your brother tagging along, your parents’ lives in ruins…”
Yoongi’s eyes found yours and there was a kindness, already knowing your and him were meant to be.
You weren’t so sure.
And yet.
His next words made you fall in love.
“If that’s what you want, I’ll do it for you.”

Sugar Daddy turned sour
Request: Hi!!!! read all of ur works its all amazing cant believe ur new.. can i request for a yan sugar daddy taehyung x reader x yan sugar daddy jungkook. they found out that that y/n have 2 sugar daddies and they lost their sanity(as if they even have that)...Thank u and YOU GOOD,KEEP GOING💜💞💞💞💞😘😁
A/N: I don't know how to post a reply to a personal message yet because I am new and Tumblr deficient 😅 But I hope you like the scenario ^-^ thanks for the request 💜
Here for Part 2
Summary: Juggling two guys and getting everything you want from them has always been easy for you, and Taehyung and Jungkook are no exception. Or so you thought.
Trigger warnings: Mentions of non-con, assault, cheating, violence.
Yandere! Taehyung
Yandere! Jungkook
Sunday.  Taehyungs day.
You open your webcam, checking your eyeliner quickly in the startup view as you wait for the Tae to pick up on the other side. He pops up quickly a beaming smile filling his face.
“Y/n! Baby, I’ve missed you.” He’s radiant. As happy and as bubbly he always is.
You go along listening to him excitedly run through his past few days, telling you everything in excruciating detail as he jumps from one half-finished thought to another. He may be an adult but he certainly has a young soul. The whole while you feign attention, your fingers continually fidgeting with the diamond necklace or the matching bracelet he had sent you a few weeks back.
“How was your weekend?”  He finally gets around to asking.
“Not so good. I always have to work so much," You complain, batting your eyes at the camera.
“You could always quit and come live with me.” He jokes-but not really. It’s a topic he has raised 3 times already.  And you have the same answer ready as always.
“Daddy, you know I’m a strong and independent woman. I could never let someone else pay for me.” You pout, running your tongue over your lower lip while pushing your chest up a little to draw attention.  “It’s just my rent is so expensive. I feel like I work just to pay the bills.”
In truth, your rent is already being covered by someone else.  But he doesn’t need to know that.
While you continue to run through the fabricated details of your weekend, Taehyung is distracted, looking down at his phone.  You know what's happening. It’s like a game. And you’re winning. Your banking app sends a notification, letting you know that K. Taehyung has just sent you a payment.
You open it up. Yep. That's rent for the month.  Or more, money for that new TV you wanted.
“Oh! Daddy, noo.” You whine down the camera. “You can’t.  I am okay. Really. Please don’t spend your money on me.” You frown if only to stop the smile that is fighting to fill your face.
“I want to baby. I have the money, and I just want you to be happy. Don’t stress about bills okay. I’m here.”
Sometimes, it’s almost too easy.
“Okay Daddy, if you insist.”
Tuesday.  Jungkooks day.
With Jungkook it’s a much more straightforward transaction.  He has said he wants to pay for you and he hates the back and forth pretences.  He just wants you to say thank you, smile pretty, and give him all your attention.
“Do you need anything more for the week?” He asks through the camera.
“No Daddy, you take such good care of me. Thank you.” You smile.
“You still have the weekend of the 14th off?” He raises his eyebrows suggestively.  Off-screen you quickly scan through your calendar.
14th, 15th and 16th: Jk weekend.
Hmm, that came up quicker than you expected. You try to keep your booty calls with them as far apart as possible.
“Of course, I’m so excited! I haven’t seen you in weeks.” You say, it been less than 100% truthful.
“Months.” He corrects with a surreptitious undertone.
“Where are we staying this time?”
You always insist to stay in hotels. Because ‘your apartment feels too busy and mundane, and you want the time you spend with him to be magical and undistracted’. Honestly, you just don’t want him, either of them, in your personal space. You purposefully chose boys who live a few hours away.  It’s hard enough to keep them separated in your everyday life with them being far away. It could only get messy for them to know where you live and how to reach you in person.
You’ve certainly gotten smart at this. Arranging the two men into different days of the week, scheduling them into your calendar to keep them apart and unaware of the other. Both had specifically said very early on that they do not want to share you with anyone else.  And that you were all theirs. And while both of them seemed to trust you, you knew their reactions would be unpleasant, to say the least, if they found out about the other.
Sugar Daddies can be so possessive.
But while both these men are very handsome, money is better and more reliable than boys. And if they are stupid enough to spend it all on you, why should you care.
The week passes quickly and it’s the 14th.  Once more you find yourself in the lobby of a 5-star hotel. Jungkook arrived in town early and sent you a message with the room number.
Time to actually work for your money.
You knock on the door only to find it slightly open.  Entering there is a trail of rose petals lining the floor leading into the suite. All the lights are dimmed with a warmth of candlelight filling the room. This is so typically Jungkook. Pulling out all the stops to try to impress.
Dropping your bag at the entrance, you close the door behind you and explore inwards.
“Daddy?” You call out in a singsong voice. Your heels clack on the tiled floor as you round the corner into the living room. Jungkook is sitting on the lounge, one leg crossed over the other, arms rested up over the back. You smile at seeing him. You always seem to forget just how stunning he is in person.
“Which one of us are you referring to?” A deep voice startles you from behind. You jolt, spinning to see Taehyung standing behind you leaning against the wall.
Holy fuck.
Your mind starts to jumble through what is happening. Thinking about what it was that might have given you away. Evaluating how much they may know. And planning your next move.
Damn it.  You doubt you’ll be able to smooth talk your way out of this with Jungkook. He’s too direct and absolute. So you’ll just have to accept that that relationship is over. However, you might be able to salvage this situation with Taehyung if you play your cards right. Being defensive should do the trick.
“What is this?” You snap, keeping focused on Taehyung. “This is such a violation of my privacy! You keep smothering me Taehyung! See this is why I tried to find someone else to hang out with.” You stomp your foot. He would always wrap around your finger so quickly with the little girl act.
“Ha!” He blurts out a short laugh in contradiction to how you expected him to react. “Wow. No, go on. I want to see where this is going.”
“Do you think we only just found out about each other?” Jungkook pipes up, coming from the couch.
You sigh. You had almost saved enough for a holiday to the Maldives too. But they seem to know too much. Fine. You can burn both relationships. They were starting to get too clingy anyway.  “Whatever.” You roll your eyes. You got all you could from them. Time to move on to the next.
As you shrug them off, Taehyung steps into the path of the front door.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Both he and Jungkook start to close in tighter. There is a cold tone to his words. Something far too close to a threat for your comfort. Even in heels, both men naturally stand taller than you which usually wouldn’t bother you. But with an unsteadiness to your footing and a very short dress on, in a dark room with two men you have used and spurned, you are feeling even more vulnerable than you feel you should.
“Move.” You order.
A smirk on his lips, Taehyung lifts his hand up and backhands you, knocking you back a few stumbled steps. You gasp, your hand clinging to your cheek, eyes wide in shock. He starts forward, Jungkook intervening, standing between the two of you.
You can not believe he just hit you! He has never done anything like that before.
“No, don’t do that.” He stops Taehyung as he starts to swing again.  Shaking all over, you’re relieved that one of them is seeing sense.  You take the outstretched hand of Jungkook, lip trembling from the burn on your cheek. He draws you closer and you wrap into him for protection. In the same motion, his free hand swings down punching you in the stomach, doubling you over, dropping you to the floor. “If you hit her head, she might get spaced out. I want her to feel this.”
His words send a chill down your spine. This can not be happening.
“Are you crazy!” You gape, trying to speak while gulping down air. Your head is dizzy, your lungs burning.  Kicking off your heels for better movement, you climb back up to your feet not wanting to engage either man. Eyes focused you look past Taehyung to the door, storming forward. “I’m leaving. We’ll forget all of this, okay.” You bargain through short, panicked breath.
Taehyungs large hand slams you into the wall, pressing his palm against your shoulder. He follows Jungkooks lead, pounding his fist into your gut. And then again. And again.  His hold removes letting you free and you plummet to the ground, crying within broken huffs while cradling your battered torso.
“You’re right. That is better.” He laughs at Jungkook.
“Stop!” You beg, unable to raise your voice above a soft yelp.
“What's wrong baby? You wanted two men. Now you have them.” Taehyungs bright smile returns to his face. This time with an entirely different meaning than it had ever had until it shifts into a straight, harsh look that you have never seen from him. “Didn't you always say you wished there was some way you could repay me?”
“You said that to me too.” Jungkook joins his side, both hovering above you, trapping you between them, the wall, and the floor.
Leaning down Jungkooks hand follows you as you squirm away from him. His fingers wrapped around your throat and lift you up, keeping you against the wall. He takes advantage of you being stuck, leaning into you pressing his lips to yours as you resist as much as you can.
“Baby, you’re going to pay us back for every dollar we spent on you.” He snarls.
Taehyung turns your face to him, also forcing a kiss on you. “Don’t worry, Y/n, you’ll see that we know how to share.”

♡ scenario: meeting dick's ex girlfriend and it going awkwardly well
♡ characters: jason todd ( red hood ) x fem! reader
♡ note: not checked for grammar or spelling mistakes / i'm sorry but have yall seen that comparison of Jason Todd from Titans to the comics that the DC Titans twit made? bc every time i look at it, it takes me out. my twitter groupchat have slaughtering it all night :').
Tumblr media
you in Dick's apartment, fiddling with a few of his weapons as he sternly told you to put it down before you hurt yourself. you, clearly not bothering to listen, continued to fiddle with the batarang as it managed to hit you on the nose. in between Dick's laugh, he wheezed out an 'I told you so'.
"fuck off, when are we going to your dad's place?" you asked, "I want to get back home before we get back to our apartments later than we already are," you mumbled, getting up and grabbing your keys.
Dick ushered you out the door, murmuring that he'd buy you a coffee on the way to Gotham as compensation for helping his family out. you were Dick's ex girlfriend and although the two of you ended on friendly terms, you managed to know his families secret and thus, you decided to help Dick out with his hero work in Bludhaven.
the two of you had realized a while into the relationship that neither of you were really into each other romantically. it felt a bit forced with the kisses and dates and a part of you saw the way Dick felt about his ex still. you weren't mad at the way he felt about Barbara but you could tell that he still had feelings for her and you didn't want him to deny his true feelings for her anymore.
both of you hopped into your car and made your way over to his father's place. you had met Bruce a while back when you were dating Dick and by extension, you had met Dick's younger brother Damian. he was still a bit of a prick to you every time you met him but Dick had told you that Damian was just that way with everyone. you had a few interactions with Duke and Cassie from time to time but it was only when they stopped by. the only two you had yet to meet were Dick's two younger brothers, Tim and Jason.
you had heard stories about them it wasn't anything too crazy. all you knew was that Tim was a bit on the shyer side and Jason was the one with the crazy backstory. they hadn't told you everything about Jason but you did know that Jason was dead at one point and managed to come back. how? you didn't know and frankly, you didn't want to know. knowing that this world was filled with superheroes from out of this world and held supernatural abilities was enough for you.
by the time you arrived to Bruce's place, you had Dick take in your back pack as you sipped away on the Starbucks he had bought for you. Dick entered through the batcave, waving a hello to everyone as you saw Damian and gave the little gremlin a smirk before chasing him for a hug.
"get away from me you peasant," Damian screamed, grabbing his blade and pointing it at you. you laughed, sitting down on his chair, "aww, and to think I thought you'd be happy to see me!" you giggled, taking your laptop out of your bag with a few other things.
you noticed that there was another person in the room that you hadn't familiarized yourself with and got up, "hi, I'm ( your name ), Dick's work partner," you said, stretching your hand out for him, "and the pain in my ass." you rolled your eyes as the man chuckled, "I'm Jason," he replied. his voice alone made the hair on your arms raise in goosebumps as you found his voice extremely attractive, "pleasure," you responded, trying not to sound nervous.
Dick wasn't the smartest of all brothers, clearly but it didn't exactly take an idiot to see the way you immediately acted around Jason. he noticed the way you pulled yourself back a bit as Jason stood up to give you a proper hello. when he first met you, you were instantly the confident person you always were but this time, you were pulling yourself back a bit.
"so, how did you meet Dick?" Jason asked. you laughed, "we're partners at work and I even dated the asshole for a while," Dick whipped his head around as you heard Damian hollering from laughter, "I'm right here!" he exclaimed. you rolled your playfully, "please, I heard the way you talk about me to Barbara," you pressed, making Dick slump down in his seat in shame.
Jason laughed at the way you managed to make Dick fall back. he had never seen someone do that to him before and frankly, he kind of liked the way you poked at Dick a bit. everyone knew he was the easiest target to mess with but it seemed as though you were professional at it, just like Damian was.
"so, who are the ones on patrol tonight?" Bruce asked, getting up. Damian and Dick raised their hands as they all looked to Jason, "you're still hurt from your previous run in so you will be sitting this one out Master Jason," Alfred spoke up. you saw the way Jason wanted to argue but Alfred gave him the 'you better not try it' look.
"you can stay with her," Dick offered, slipping into his suit, "she's helping out with communication tonight since Tim is off doing work with the Titans." you gave Jason a wave of encouragement as he agreed, not as excited as you thought he'd be. you shrugged it off, waving everyone off with a 'be careful' lecture.
the batcave went silent as Alfred had offered to bring the both of you coffee for the long night. you were sitting across from Jason, your legs crossed as you slipped in your headphone into one ear to make sure you could hear what Damian, Dick, and Bruce were saying clearly. you cracked your neck, trying to make it unstiff as you gave the three of them their coordinates of where they were to meet if they all separated....which was the first thing they did.
"so, why did you and Dick break up?" Jason asked suddenly. you lifted your head up, "oh, we just realized we were better off as friends," you replied, "everything felt kind of forced and a bit weird so we figured it was best to just be friends before it got any weirder."
Jason nodded, smiling underneath his stoic face. he knew he wanted to make a move on you but realized it was a slimey thing to do so quick. he hadn't known the real reason to the break up but figured since you were still friends with Dick, it clearly meant that there were no hard feelings, especially when Dick was trying his time again with Barbara.
the two of you remained silent, sipping away on water and coffee. a few yawns crossed your face as you tried to keep yourself awake. this wasn't the first time Dick had you doing this but you hadn't went strictly from work to Dick's place and didn't get the chance to take a nap before leaving. Jason saw the way you were fighting off your sleep and chuckled.
"tired?" he asked. you nodded slowly, "long day and an even longer day tomorrow," you replied. you saw your phone ping up with text messages as you let out a groan of annoyance, "something wrong?" Jason asked, seeing the way messages came in left and right.
you flipped the phone over, "it's dumb. some guy I was seeing hasn't stopped messaging me ever since I gave him my number and even when I told him I wasn't interested, he still kept going," you confessed, wanting nothing more than to chuck your phone against the wall to make it stop.
Jason thought for a moment. he could play this one of two ways. one: trying to give you mature, adult advice or two: being the petty teenager he used to once be. "wanna try to get him back?" he asked, quickly checking the communicators and cameras to make sure everything was still okay. you nodded your head a bit slowly, not knowing what he was hinting at.
Jason grabbed your phone, quickly taking a photo before writing a few thing down and sending it. your eyes widened, seeing what he wrote out.
"might wanna stop texting the girl who has no interest in you."
you gave Jason a look as he laughed, "what?" he asked, going back to the cameras and communicators. after a while, you got a message that they were heading back to the cave as others took their place. you clapped in tired happiness as you shut the computers down and put every thing into your bad so you and Dick could head out as quickly as possible.
"leaving already?" Jason poked playfully. you smiled, "I have work in the morning and I doubt you'd want to spend anymore time with me," you joked back. Jason grabbed your phone again, this time putting his number into your phone before shooting himself a message.
"you couldn't even wait a day?" Dick said as he got out of the batmobile. you shrugged playfully, "what can I say? your brother is hot," you responded, waving your phone with his number in it. Jason choked on his spit as Damian gagged, "gross, keep that shit to yourself," Damian yelled, slamming the door of the batcave as he made his way to his room.
you gave Jason a wink goodbye before getting into Dick's car.
"see ya soon sweetheart."

Hey, Kiss Me? (Don't Mind If I Do)
Fandom: Resident Evil 8: Village
Pairing: Daniela Dimitrescu x Reader (Gender Neutral)
Rating: G
Summary: Daniela is used to being the flirty one, blowing kisses and making a pass at anyone who caught her attention. It just never occurred to her that the tables could turn on her.
Notes: [slams fists on the table] LET ME FLIRT WITH THE CUTE VAMPIRE GIRL. If RE8 had a dating sim spin-off in some alternate universe where Capcom REALLY wanted to capitalize on the game's success, one of my runs would definitely involve romancing the youngest Dimitrescu. For anyone else who feels me on this, this is for you too. I also tried writing this in 2nd person POV for a change. Hope it still turned out alright, it's my first time writing this way. Enjoy!
----------
You had been working for the Duke for quite a while now. He took you in in your time of need and had been made an apprentice of sorts in the art of trading and bargaining.
You've met your fair share of oddities while settled in the village and running errands, including but not limited to: A man who can control metal and electricity on a whim, a talking doll who lives under a waterfall, and the numerous wolf-man hybrids that lurked around the vicinity. They were what most may consider crass company -- at least, that was what the Lady of the castle would say.
Lady Alcina Dimitrescu was a frequent customer and a business partner of the Duke's, helping her in the sale of her vintage "wine" to intrigued buyers. This also meant that the two of you were frequent visitors to the castle on the other side of the village proper -- a vast estate that was entirely too large for just four women to occupy (even if one of those women happened to be nine feet tall).
Miss Bela was always the more polite and civil of Dimitrescu's daughters, offering a simple greeting whenever you would come by. When it was appropriate, she was always at her mother's side and paying attention to how meetings between the older adults would proceed, like a student eager to learn from the best. You figured that, as the oldest sibling, she might take over the business someday. You weren't sure exactly how that would happen, given what you knew of the family, but you really shouldn't prod anyway. At least, not now.
Miss Cassandra was more closed off, so to speak. It always seemed like she would barely acknowledge your presence in the castle, talking only when it was necessary and immediately leaving the room once she was allowed to. However, you would feel a prickling in the back of their neck when she wasn't around, like you were being watched from the background -- prey at the mercy of their predator. But every time you turned around, there would be no one there, not even a sound to indicate escape. A part of you thought you might have been pulled into some unwitting game, wondering what would happen if you did catch the perpetrator in the act. You weren't sure you really wanted to find out.
Then, there was Miss Daniela, whose attention seemed to lie in... other prospects. Like Bela, she offered warm greetings whenever you would stop by the property. Unlike her sisters though, who never really bothered with the Duke's apprentice, she always tried to entertain herself with your company. You had a friendly enough rapport with her that you could relax in her presence as well, so it was nice. You figured it was mostly because they rarely ever got outside company, and since the sisters stay in the castle a lot of the time, she always welcomed you with enthusiasm. And a smile. And a wink. And some passing remark about how nicely you dressed that day and that you must have been trying to impress her.
"I could just eat you right up," she would say with a giggle and a playful growl.
You've never been too sure what to make of her -- she always seemed to have her head in the clouds, only coming back down at the behest of her mother or when her sisters were persistent enough. You also never knew how to respond to her flirting apart from flustered silence, which only seemed to spur her on even more. It was like she was just trying to get a reaction from you, making a game of it. It was far different from the one her older sister seemed to be keen on playing, but a game nonetheless -- how far could she push your buttons and make you implode from embarrassment?
Honestly, it seemed to be working.
You had been well-socialized thanks to your training under the Duke, and of course the man himself was charming and likeable so a part of you liked to think it may have rubbed off as he raised you. But that was when it came to formalities and negotiations -- maybe banter, if you could really push it. You've thought about responding earnestly, but flirting was another ball game all on its own, one that you don't really play on purpose, and you frequently found yourself floundering at the face of it. Especially when that face was as pretty as Daniela's.
It wasn't like you thought she liked you that way or anything -- you genuinely thought she said all those things for fun, to amuse herself with how hot you got or how you would sheepishly shrink in on yourself. But you weren't going to deny that she was cute and that you may have just a small crush on her. Just maybe. Not that you would ever admit that out loud.
----------
One winter day, the Duke entrusted you with meeting with Lady Dimitrescu on your own. She was informed of his absence beforehand -- something about attending to Lord Heisenberg's business -- and so you were left to take care of updates. In the meantime, you kept yourself busy in the guest area, perusing the dusty books in shelves that definitely needed some cleaning. It seemed like the castle could never have enough help.
As soon as you were left alone, with only your notepad and thoughts to keep you company, you felt the hairs at the back of your neck stand. You slowly looked to the side, eyes trained on a dark corner of the room. The light from the fireplace didn't quite reach that spot, making it quite the hiding place. Was something (or someone) moving from there? Are your eyes playing paranoid tricks on you? Was it Miss Cassandra playing her one-sided game again? Perhaps... you shouldn't interfere then.
You turned your attention back to the book shelf, looking high above you, wanting to take a closer look at the selection. You dragged a stool and a few stacked cushions to the shelves and slipped your shoes off, praying to whoever was out there that Lady Dimitrescu wouldn't find you like this. Oh, the scolding I'd get from Duke about manners -- you'd never hear the end of it. Stepping carefully onto the plush surface -- a few feet from the ground -- and finding your balance, you start to pick something out that had an interesting title.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you, Y/N," a voice echoed in the room, catching you off guard.
You jumped in surprise and lost your footing, falling backward as the cushions slipped from under you. Oh yeah, this was gonna hurt! But before you could make contact with the hardwood floor, a hand reached out and grabbed you by the waist, catching you in a rather precarious position.
"You could've hurt that cute little ass of yours," the voice cooed. Daniela seemed to have materialized from out of nowhere, wearing a mischievous grin and holding onto you as she practically hovered over you. Oh god, she was so close, you don't know where your body heat ended and hers started.
"Miss Daniela," you greeted, finally finding your voice. "Um, thanks for the save."
She pulled you up to standing on the stool and raised an eyebrow at you, smirking amusedly, "And what exactly were you doing so high up in the shelves? Aren't you supposed to be waiting here like a good little one?"
"I was just... looking at the books," you replied softly, "And falling for you, I suppose," you added as a joke, chuckling as you shook off your nerves from earlier. You were a little surprised she didn't start off with that line honestly, given how easy--
Daniela's smirk dropped at your response, eyes widening as she stiffened. Uh oh... did you say something wrong?
She blinked at you, mouth hanging open slightly as if she was trying to find the words. It looked like she gave up though, just looking away and stepping off the stool. Were you imagining that her cheeks just turned pink?
"Mother's waiting for you at the meeting room," was all she said before quickly making her exit.
It took a while before the wheels in your head started turning again.
----------
The next time you came to the castle with the Duke, it was a warm day in spring. On these occasions, sometimes Lady Dimitrescu would be more open to a different venue of meeting than inside the castle -- "for a change of scenery," as she would say. The two of you met her and her daughters at the main garden at the back of the property, the sun shining generously on all forms of life.
When Daniela spotted you, she seemed almost caught unaware, but she quickly regained composure, throwing a smirk and wink your way -- her usual greeting. You couldn't help but duck down shyly, but nonetheless waved and smiled back.
The older adults took their business elsewhere, leaving you alone with the daughters at the lobby; well, more like a daughter, since Cassandra had already left before you can say another word and Bela had excused herself soon after. It was normal for you to be in the company of the redhead at this point. Not that she seemed to mind.
"Been a while since you've been back here. Betcha missed me, huh?" Daniela said, a charming smile curled on her lips. She stood next to you, seeming intent on leading you on a little walk around. Hey, you'd take any excuse to spend time with her.
You laughed softly, "Quite, Miss Daniela."
"You're still sticking to those formalities, Y/N? Come on, you can drop the 'Miss'." She sidled up closer to you, nudging your side. "You can even skip 'Daniela' altogether and just call me yours."
You unconsciously covered your mouth as you glanced her way -- she was being more straightforward than usual. You don't know if you were just trying to hide the blood rushing to your cheeks or trying to stop yourself from smiling too widely, but seeing the smug look on the other's face, you knew she succeeded yet again in flustering you.
"What's wrong? Did summer come early? You're looking kinda warm," she teased, bending down slightly to your face level. "Then again, you are hot enough for the both of us." Damn, she was too good at this. "You'd give the sun a run for its money, honey."
You took a few moments to collect yourself, standing up straighter and clearing your throat. Your eyes looked up to meet hers, showing a half-smile as you spoke with as smooth of a delivery as you can muster, "I'd always thought you would be the sun's rival, given how easily you brighten up my day."
Daniela nearly tripped when she took another step, only managing to catch herself on a nearby bench.
"Are you--"
"I'm fine! I'm fine, just, uh... stubbed my toe on something. Stupid rock."
There were no rocks on the path you two were walking -- unless one counted the flat rock ground. (It didn't.)
The rest of the day carried on as it normally would -- Daniela distracting you from the uneasy feeling of being watched from a proper walk with her usual demeanor, batting her eyelashes and telling you how she simply must teach you to dance some time. "Maybe then you'll learn to loosen up around me." But in return, you would sometimes reply with your own quips -- "Well I wouldn't be opposed to being closer to you, Miss Daniela." You weren't about to question where this newfound confidence came from; you may as well own it, right?
It was only after that visit, replaying the day in your head like you wanted to remember it for as long as you could, that a realization came to you -- the way her cheeks tinged pink and averted her gaze, how she was rendered speechless whenever you replied in the same way that was usually expected of her...
She's not used to being flirted back to.
Her self-esteem allowed her to accept most straightforward compliments with grace, so flattery did not faze her in the slightest -- but when it came to using disarming words? When charm and wit were used right back at her?
She floundered almost as much as you did.
Suddenly, you weren't just a prop in the game anymore -- you knew how to play it now. You knew uttering such sweet (and occasionally cheesy) phrases could make the youngest Dimitrescu blush harder than a maiden being courted. And by god, did she look adorable when she did.
You kind of understood why she did all that now -- watching someone get flustered and knowing you were the cause of it was fun. It was weirdly thrilling seeing her react like that, but then again you might be confusing that feeling with different kind of fluttering in your chest whenever you were alone with Daniela. Who knows?
One thought lingered at the back of your mind though: How long would it take before one of you broke and asked the other on a real date?
.
.
.
(Cassandra materialized behind Daniela as you bade her farewell for the day. She had been observing the two of you interact for a while, monitoring the redhead's "progress". She knocked her sister out of her faraway thoughts with a smack to the head. "So are you gonna admit you like them yet?"
Daniela seemed almost offended at the insinuation, "I would nev-- I mean how dare-- I don't like-- they're just-- I--"
The brunette only raised an eyebrow.
"They're..." She thought back to you, that cute little smile you wore whenever she tried to flirt with you, and how you suddenly rose to the challenge of using her own tactics against her earlier. It was kind of hot. "Okay, I guess. They're okay. They're fine." Quite fine. "That's all I'm gonna say."
"Suuuure...")

“I’d like to take you to the movies, but they don’t let you bring in your own snacks.”
Closing your work locker, you raise an eyebrow at the familiar six foot, raven haired guy, who smirks down at you as if he just won first prize. In cringe worthy pick up lines? Yeah he can take that medal.
“Are you calling me a snack?” You ask, adjusting the strap of your bag.
“Will you go out with me if I say yes?” Kuroo asks again, wagging his eyebrows at you teasingly, and you immediately know he’s messing with you.
“Not a chance.” Offering him a scathing glare, you spin on your heels and slip out the front door of the shop. When you’d first gotten the job at the small bookshop near your house, you'd have been ecstatic. Although you’d been less ecstatic about your new colleague who you’d never met before in your life, but had been slipping you cheesy and corny pick up lines every day for months.
You didn’t even know that there were that many ways to flirt with someone, but alas, Kuroo proved you wrong every shift. At first, you’d been a flustered bumbling mess trying to come up with a response, but as you caught on to how his hazel eyes glinted with untamed mischief, you’d decided that Kuroo wasn’t your favourite person.
That wasn’t to say that you by any means hated the guy, there was no way you could when he was literally one of the nicest people you’d ever come across in your life. He held doors open for you, and would volunteer to carry the new boxes of stock out back because they were heavy - although you had an inkling that was partly to show off. In the end, Kuroo is sweet, kind, and hilarious. But he thinks that hitting on you every day, and asking you out as a joke is also hilarious.
And it’s hilariously pissing you off.
Because somewhere down along the way, between the angel references and calling you a ‘cute-cumber’ you’d found yourself smiling at the lines. You found yourself anticipating getting to work shifts with him, just to see him and for the chance to witness the familiar rogue smile and the pure giddiness that emits from his very being.
But to him, it was a joke. And that left more than a bad taste in your mouth.
Adjusting your bag once more, you try to slide the store door closed behind you to keep the aircon inside - a stark contrast to the summer heat bearing down on you. Before it can close completely, a hand rolls the glass door to a stop and you find yourself once again looking up into hazel eyes.
“Not finished?” You snipe back, having reached your quota of fake flirting for the day. Kuroo doesn’t flinch at your tone, or maybe he just chooses not to notice judging by the smile that graces his face. Maybe, just maybe you could eventually get over him. It’s not going to go anywhere, if it was going to, he wouldn’t have waited literal months to make a move. So maybe, you can let him go.
“Oh I have plenty more for you princess, but I just thought you might want this first.” In his hand is a copy of the book you’d been reading behind the counter of your shifts. Blinking twice, you realise it’s got similar dog eared pages and a crinkled spine from continuous use - that's your book. Instinctively you peer into your bag on your shoulder, and alas, it's empty. With an empty mind, you take the item from Kuroo’s outstretched hand, and offer him a quick thanks as you try to swallow the emotion in your throat.
“You’re most welcome. Walk home safe, I'll see you tomorrow princess.” Kuroo responds with a rogue wink that has you flushing from head to toe. His knowing grin proves that was the response he was looking for, so you quickly shove the book in your back and practically run from your work - swearing that you can feel his gaze on you the whole way home.
Yeah, there’s no chance you’re going to get over him.
This is cemented on your next night shift. You stand behind the counter, your eyes glancing up from the book you’re reading to the group of teenage girls giggling amongst the young adult isle. Really, it should be an actual law for people to be as quiet in bookstores as they are in libraries.
The door opens once more, and you begin to groan internally at the thought of even more rowdy teenagers coming in, but instead Kuroo slinks through the door in all his six foot two glory. Dressed in his work shirt, some black jeans and his usual sneakers, he looks good and the bastard knows it from the raised eyebrows he shoots you when he catches you looking. You don’t reply, but instead turn back to your book, ignoring him and the gaggling teenagers who suddenly shut up as he walks past them to go to the back room. You can’t blame them as their eyes stay glued to his every movement. Kuroo walks like he was meant to carry the world on his shoulders, but instead spins it like a basketball on one finger. As if the most difficult things for him are effortless. Like a god amongst men. Okay, let's not go that far. If he ever heard that, his ego would asphyxiate everyone from here to the south pole.
“Do you like my shirt?” Kuroo’s question has you turning around before you can stop yourself, but you’re all levels of confused as he holds the hem of his shirt in pinched fingers away from his body. His shirt? It’s his work shirt…
“Uh it’s your work shirt…” You manage to mumble out, brows still furrowed, completely baffled.
“Yeah but its made of a different material.” He points out, moving closer to you, only looking up from his shirt and to you when he’s standing only a few feet away. “Boyfriend material.” His grin is actually blinding, so you’re not sure if you’re squinting from that, or from the way you scrunch up your nose in distaste at his line.
“I hate you.” You grumble, turning away and looking down at your book once more, letting your hair fall over your cheeks to hide the flush splashed brightly across them.
“Hate me? Why must you hurt me so princess?” Kuroo jokes, and you find yourself getting more and more disappointed as he grows quiet and begins to start on his own work for the shift. It’s not until you both notice the gaggling girls practically drooling on the floor at him that you decide you need to take your break.
Closing your book loud enough to startle the group of girls and the guy flicking aimlessly through a volleyball magazine at your side. “I’m going for my ten.” You offer in explanation as you try to move out back. You don’t get to even make it past the counter before there's a warm hand wrapping around your own. Kuroo’s hand completely engulfs yours in the best ways and you can’t help but gape at it as it pulls your walk to a stop.
“Are you alright?” He asks, drawing your eyes reluctantly from your entwined hands to his face, and once you spot genuine concern there, you hesitate with your response. How do you say that no, you’re not okay because would you be if the person that you liked jokingly asked you out on a daily basis for months on repeat? But never meant it?
“Yeah, I'm fine.” Kuroo doesn’t let go just yet, but instead scratches the back of his neck with his other hand nervously.
“You know, if I'm honestly bothering you, please tell me. I don’t ever want to make you uncomfortable y/n,” He offers, shame and hurt flashing brightly in his eyes - and it shocks you stupid for a few seconds. It takes you an added moment that he’s talking about his teasing. Wait, he thinks he’s bothering me? Is he?
“Kuroo, if it was bothering me I would have told you alright?” You say softly, your gaze drifting back to your hand. “I mean sure sometimes it can be a bit much but that's mainly because I'm an idiot.” Not expecting those words, Kuroo’s nerves bleed into a confused frown that has you wanting to reach up and thumb away the line between his pinched brows.
“An idiot? Princess, if what I'm saying is bothering you-”
“It’s not what you’re saying that’s bothering me, it’s the joking.” The second the words leave your mouth, you wish you could reach out, grab them, and shove them back down your throat, because the way Kuroo drops your hand as if it burnt him hurts more than you thought it would.
“Joking?” His tone is utterly perplexed, and this time, you’re the one looking back at him with confusion. A loud laugh barks from his chest and you immediately feel embarrassed for absolutely nothing. Kuroo is laughing so hard and obnoxiously that tears actually crest the corner of his eyes, and at this rate you’re ready to just walk out the door if it means you don’t have to deal with this embarrassment for another second.
“You mean to tell me, that all this time you thought I was joking?” Kuroo gets out between laughs, and you feel your stomach drop at his words. What does he mean did you think he was joking? Was he not?
Your silence is answer enough because he runs a hand through his thick dark hair and leans back on the counter behind him.
“Jesus Christ Y/n!”
“You would laugh at me after you said them!” You defend, pointing an accusing finger in his way. How could you not think he was joking when he’d laugh at you, his whole being the very embodiment of mischief when he would say his lines.
“Because your face would go red and you’d tell me I was an idiot under your breath, because it was cute!” Kuroo rebuts right back, trying once more not to laugh, and you can’t help but groan. You cannot believe that this entire time, he was actually trying to ask you out on a date. Well, you can’t fault his perseverance and tenacity.
“Kuroo,” you grumble, bridging your fingers and pressing them to your forehead in thought, just trying to calm your raging heart at the fact that this is happening.
“Y/n,” he grins right back, and you can feel him closing in on your position before you can even see him. But once you open your eyes again, letting your hands fall from your face, Kuroo’s stunning features are right up close and more beautiful than you’d thought.
“Does this mean that you’ll go out with me when I ask this time?” You really do try for your pride's sake to not flush at his words, but heat still crawls up your neck and Kuroo’s growing smile tells you that your mental attempt to stop it isn’t working.
“Yes, I will.” You say, letting the smile tug at the corners of your mouth.
“Good, I'll remember that for my new line tomorrow.”

When Passion Rules the Game | Part Six
Tumblr media
CW: NSFW, language
Part Five//Part Seven//Masterlist//2634 words
Aelin chuckled. “I hate you.”
Rowan grinned, playfully squeezing her ass. “I hate you more.”
“I can’t even wrap my mind around it, though. You like the Wendlyn Eagles. It’s just incomprehensible.”
Rowan smirked. “You’re far too dramatic for your own good.”
“Someone has to be. The rest of the world is filled with some boring ass people, I tell you, Rowan.”
He laughed. “Having met with Chaol Westfall, I can agree with you there.”
A snort that was far from womanly left Aelin’s mouth. “I still can’t believe you had to work on that project with him all day. I felt so bad.”
“You didn’t,” Rowan protested. “You were laughing every time I looked at you.”
“I can’t deny that.”
They both laughed. But the humor slowly dissolved as Rowan trailed his hand along Aelin’s side. The light touch turned greedy as Aelin leaned into him, aching for a rougher touch.
His hand reached for her breast and squeezed. Aelin scooted closer and reached her hand down below the sheets.
Rowan had her hand in his grasp in an instant. “Be patient, sweetheart.”
“I wish you’d stop saying that,” Aelin muttered.
Rowan smirked. “But you need to learn it.”
“Training me to be a good girl for you, hmm?” Aelin scooted closer, the legs that had been casually intertwined now tangled against each other heatedly. “But don’t you want me to make you feel good?” She gave her best puppy dog eyes.
Rowan leaned in and nipped her lower lip. “If you ask nicely.”
“Please let me touch you,” Aelin rasped, fluttering her eyelashes.
Rowan gave her throat a quick squeeze, Aelin letting out a noise of content as he choked her. Then he let go off her entirely, and Aelin moved her hand farther under the sheet.
Rowan’s cock was half-hard when Aelin wrapped her slender fingers around it. He squeezed his eyes shut as Aelin started pumping her hand. She was thoroughly enjoying the small grunt that left his lips as he tried to hold back a groan.
Rowan thrust his hips into Aelin’s hand. She trailed hot, open-mouthed kisses along his neck as she pumped her hand. His cock hardened in her grip, and Aelin felt heat start to build between her legs.
Just when Aelin twisted her wrist and drew a growl out Rowan, he stopped her by flipping their bodies, pinning Aelin underneath him. He didn’t enjoy being the one squirming at someone else’s touch.
“Rowan,” she pleaded. He moved her arms, pinning her wrists over her head with one hand, and brought the other down between her legs. But Rowan only parted her folds with a finger, stroking gently. Aelin bucked her hips, but he only withdrew his hand.
“Please,” she whined. “Please, please, please.”
Rowan chuckled against her skin, licking a stripe up her neck and readjusting his hips so that Aelin was even more trapped under his body.
He slipped his finger inside her entrance, then pulled it back out immediately. “Beg me. Beg me to fuck you.” He roughly fingered her clit, then pulled his hand away entirely.
Aelin complied. Please was the only word in her vocabulary as she whimpered for Rowan to make her feel good. He finger-fucked her for a few minutes before he decided she was behaving well enough to come. Rowan pressed his thumb against her clit, rubbing circles around the sensitive bud of flesh. It didn’t take much for Aelin to be overcome by a massive wave of pleasure.
And when he fucked her, when he flicked her clit as he slammed into her, she came, not even close to satisfied. He didn’t stop moving not just until he came as well, but until she had a third orgasm. When he finally let up, Aelin dropped into a deep slumber, exhausted from his attentions.
They were back in the bar. Aelin was talking to a man, a man with silver hair and pine-green eyes. She didn’t know his name, but she wanted to.
“I’m new in town,” he said to her, but Aelin wasn’t concerned with the hazy lust clouding his eyes or the way his gaze dropped to her cleavage. She was thinking about how nice he was, how smart and kind and funny. She didn’t want to drag him in the bathroom, she wanted to tell him that she lo—
An obnoxious beeping filled the room, filled Aelin’s head, turned the man into a blur. Aelin snapped awake, scrambling into a sitting position. Her alarm was going off.
She glanced over at Rowan, drowsily rubbing his eyes beside her, still lying down. “You okay, baby?”
Aelin let out a long exhale, trying to recall what her dream had been about. Rowan, maybe?
“Yeah, I’m fine.”
He held her gaze for a moment longer, assessing the sincerity of her statement, then nodded and said, “We should get up. Work’s in an hour.”
Aelin steadied her breathing—what had her dream been?—and expressed her agreement. They climbed out of bed and headed around the house: eating, making coffee, brushing teeth, showering. It had been three months since they’d become friends with benefits, and they had toothbrushes and extra clothing at each other’s homes. It made things much more convenient, not having to wait until the weekend to hook up.
Aelin headed out a few minutes before Rowan, both because arriving at the same time could be suspicious if anyone noticed, and because she had no reason to wait for him. She called a farewell, knowing he had a key to lock her door with. Again, for convenience purposes.
Despite that and the fact that they cuddled often after sex, naked and talking about football teams, their relationship really wasn’t abnormal. They had just become good friends.
Aedion headed into her office only moments after Aelin herself arrived. He looked at her, frowned, and said, “You have a hickey.”
Aelin refused to blush, cursing herself for not even bothering to look in the mirror other than for a quick hair brush and some light lipstick. She merely leaned back in her chair, threaded her fingers in front of her on the desk, and said, “We have an issue with the camera in the main elevator.”
Aedion sighed and took a seat. “We’ll have it fixed by lunchtime. Still playing with your boy toy?”
Aelin rolled her eyes. “Get over yourself, Aedion.”
He snorted. “Me? You’re the one—”
“We are not having this conversation again,” Aelin interrupted. “Especially not here. Go fix the camera.” She tended to be relatively kind to her employees, and merely icy to the ones who pissed her off, but having grown up with Aedion, she tended to have a shorter temper when he was around.
A huff was all she got in reply before Aedion stood. He left, shutting the door gently—they had a silent agreement not to let their petty arguments disturb anyone else—and leaving Aelin alone. She pulled out her phone and swiped to the camera app, then took a look at her neck.
There was a dark bruise on the side, and Aelin breathed a sigh of relief. That would be easy to cover with her hair, unable to do anything less temporary during work. She pulled her blonde locks over that side and made a mental note to keep them there. Good thing she hadn’t passed many people on the way in.
Then she thought back to what had went down when Aedion had first walked in on her and Rowan, oh so long ago.
“What the fuck are you doing, Aelin?”
Aelin tensed. This wasn’t going to be fun.
She glanced over at Rowan, who looked part defensive and part confused. He probably didn’t realize Aedion was her cousin, though he might recognize him vaguely from work.
“You can go, Rowan. I’ll take care of this.”
He hesitated, looking back and forth between the pair. “Are you sure?”
“Yes, I can handle him.”
Aedion snorted at that, but Aelin didn’t dignify him with a glance.
“Okay, but I…” Rowan trailed off.
Right. Aelin was still wearing his shirt.
“Um”—Aelin sent Aedion a smile—“We’ll be right back.” He was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, and he flashed a saccharine grin.
Mentally dying from embarrassment, Aelin grabbed Rowan’s wrist and dragged him down the hallway. Not bothering to say anything to him, she yanked off his shirt, tossed it to him, and opened her drawer.
“So that was… a friend?”
Aelin yanked on some underwear and sweats. She looked in a different drawer for a t-shirt. “My cousin. Aedion. He works security.”
“Ah.” What was different about Rowan’s tone after she said that? What was he thinking?
Aelin turned back around, fully dressed now. Rowan’s gaze was fixed on the wall, rather than watching her as she dressed. Apparently all desire had disappeared, replaced by awkwardness.
“He won’t tell anyone.” Rowan’s eyes snapped to Aelin. “He’s very protective of me, but as annoyed as he’ll undoubtedly be, he won’t say anything.”
Rowan nodded. “Good.”
They didn’t say anything more. Aelin nodded. Rowan nodded, too.
“Well,” Aelin said finally. “See you at work on Monday.”
Rowan laughed lightly. “Yeah, see you.”
They left the bedroom and Rowan walked ahead of Aelin to the door. He gave a tight nod to Aedion, who didn’t return the gesture. Aelin sighed.
Once Rowan was out the door, Aelin smiled brightly. “Take a seat.”
“I’m good here.”
She ignored his tone and plumped onto the couch. “Want anything to eat?”
“What are you doing?”
“That’s none of your business, Aed.”
He frowned. “He works for you.”
“I know what I’m doing,” Aelin snapped.
Aedion pushed off the wall and stalked forward, dropping on the couch next to her. “You’re his boss. He’s probably just trying to get a promotion.”
A scowl crossed Aelin’s features. “You don’t even have any idea what this is,” she hissed.
“Then enlighten me, please.” Aedion’s growing temper matched her own. “Do you love him?”
Aelin scoffed. “Of course not. I just met the man a few weeks ago. Besides, that would be inappropriate.”
“That would be inappropriate,” Aedion repeated incredulously. “And this fucking isn’t?”
She huffed. “Rowan is well aware that this won’t be affecting his career at all, positively or negatively. It stays out of work, okay? There’s no reason to be pestering me about it.”
“It’s wrong, Aelin.”
“It is gods-damn not,” she snapped. “I am an adult, and he is an adult, and if we want to fuck, we will fuck. There’s your laptop. Take it and leave.”
Aedion did no such thing. “You know I only care about you.”
“If you care about me, you will mind your own business.”
Aedion sighed and stood up. “I’ll talk you on Monday. Lunch, remember?”
Aelin wanted to yell at him, her stubborn demeanor making it difficult to lose her anger, but if he was taking the steps to end this argument, she could do the same. “Fine. See you Monday.” Her voice was only slightly less sharp, but the words were enough. Aedion smiled in acknowledgment and left.
So much had changed since then, but Aedion’s attitude toward the pair’s out-of-work activities was not one of them. He glared at Rowan whenever they were in the same room, trying to find something to fault him for, but there never was anything. During their time in the office, Rowan remained respectful and kind, exactly as she’d requested of him all those days ago. He truly was a good man.
Drawing her thoughts away from Rowan, Aelin reached for a pen and got to work.
It was an hour later that Rowan joined her, starting on their major workload for the planning of their newest fundraising activity, as well as the arduous task of budgeting. Having such an involved roll in many of Aelin’s largest tasks, she had a small table designated for him against the wall, if ever they needed more space. Other thank that, he just used the opposite side of Aelin’s own desk.
Neither of them mentioned this morning, as was usual.
It may have been Aelin’s overactive imagination, but Rowan seemed distant today. Distracted about something or other. He brushed her off when Aelin asked if he was okay, and she let him have some space after that.
By the time the end of the workday rolled around, Aelin was exhausted. It was Friday, which meant she’d just spent the past five days pouring her sweat and blood into each project and task. She did work on the weekends, but the little loads she did at home could hardly compare to the stress of the week.
Aelin always worked later than everybody else; she wanted to get as much done as she could, and she made sure her workers, if not herself, had good hours. It was nearly seven-thirty when she filed away the last document.
When she came out of her office to find an empty floor, vacated entirely by Elide and all of the other staff, she was surprised. She wasn’t surprised that all of her workers were gone. That was entirely expected. She was surprised that Rowan was gone.
Not that he was supposed to be here; even though he worked a bit later some days, he usually left before her. But sometimes he waited up for her, in case she was in the mood. Well aware of the fact that they had fucked last night and they didn’t do it every day or anything, Aelin mentally shook herself for being concerned about Rowan’s absence. Still, some of the uneasiness remained.
Rowan had a pretty good position in the company, and as such, he had his own, albeit small, office. Aelin peered in just to be sure he was gone. Only a janitor, Arobynn, was in the office, and she waved at him. He gruffly nodded.
Trying not to reprimand herself out loud and look like a lunatic in front of the janitor, Aelin headed to the elevator. She was bothered that she was so caught up in Rowan that him not being there, even when it was entirely expected, made her lonely. It was just the sex she missed, of course.
Aelin impatiently tapped her pen against the handrail the whole elevator ride down, and when the doors finally opened, she hurried to her car, feeling she needed a nap. And maybe a whiskey.
The weekend passed in a blur. Aelin texted Rowan once, but he hadn’t responded. She hadn’t pestered him after that, knowing full well that he was allowed to have a life and she didn’t want to be desperate and annoy him into coming over. But she couldn’t deny the rapidly growing kernel of excitement resting in the pit of her stomach as Aelin headed to work on Monday.
“Hello, Elide,” Aelin called merrily, waving as she passed her.
Elide just sent a bemused smile to her friend.
Aelin marched toward her office, peering through the windows to find… a man that was not Rowan. Backpedaling because Aelin didn’t want to meet a client unprepared, she stepped away before he could see her. Then she made her way back to Elide.
“Who is that in my office?”
Elide frowned. “I sent you an email about it last night.”
“Last night? The last work I did was yesterday afternoon.”
Elide sighed, as if Aelin should have been checking her email all weekend long. She always had such high expectations. “That’s Nox Owens, the replacement.”
“Replacement for whom?” Aelin asked warily.
Elide blinked. “He didn’t tell you?”
“Who didn’t tell me what?” Aelin crossed her arms.
“We had to find a new coordinations director over the weekend. Mr. Whitethorn tendered his immediate resignation last Friday.”
