OK seriously what is wrong with the teens in the youtube chat going "I'm a minor 😭" "I'm only 15" at the more out there jokes.
When I was a teenager, we revelled in a watching rude stuff. Half of it was made for us and the stuff that wasn't was fun to watch because we weren't meant to. (And some of it was way less acceptable than what you get now...) What's all this "I'm a little innocent baby" shit?
#shoot from the hip#i should learn not to look at the chat tbh...#sorry if this sounds super angry...I'm not#I'm just baffled#like maybe they're trying to play into a joke based on the guys being a bit cagey about kids being at their shows?#but it comes across strangely#if you're a teenager you can cope with adult jokes even if you find them a bit more shocking then the average adult

So here's what's been nagging at me recently: It's offhandedly mentioned in season 1 that Skye is a high school dropout. Does she ever like. Get her GED? At any point in her life?? Does it happen offscreen or something? Or did this government institution/gang of fugitives hire (and eventually temporarily give the position of director of the entire agency to) someone without a high school diploma. Yeah SHIELD is fictional, but you still need a diploma to work for the government.
Also that's another thing. Does SHIELD pay her?? In season 1 it's a recognized branch of the government, so they definitely pay their employees at that point, but I doubt she has a bank account. I don't think she even has a social security number. I'm pretty sure she's not even an American citizen.
#edit: yes she would've had a SSN when she was a kid. I'm talking about as an adult. yknow. after she completely erased her identity.#THIS IS A JOKE. I'M NOT BEING SERIOUS#they just pay her in stacks of cash#sideplot in seasons 2 and 3 of Daisy studying for her GED in the background#my mom and I thought of a whole plotline wherein she goes back to high school#but it's shot like Kevin Can F Himself#as in the high school segments are shot like a sitcom but the rest of the show is all dark and gritty#she gets frustrated and slams her locker and the entire school blows up#at one point Ward shows up as a substitute teacher. he's wearing a fake mustache#Daisy tag#og fandom post tag#agents of shield#daisy johnson

modern family is all fun and games until you get to the scenes where you burst into tears because the once-vaguely homophobic dad now refers to his son's husband as family, and also the academically gifted daughter realizes that her dorky, clumsy dad was always really proud of her and just never surprised because he just assumed she could do anything, and also the eldest daughter who eloped comes crawling back to her parents' room and whispers that she still wants her parents to be present for her wedding, and also the anxious queer lawyer character admits that he was terrified that his husband would just leave him alone with their baby daughter, and also that the once-vaguely grouchy dad looks at his stepson and tells him that what makes a family is who sticks around, not who you're blood-related to and anyways what was i saying
#caroline talks#modern family#god. . .. the way i really do love this sitcom. like have all the jokes aged well? ehhh not really#there are some jokes that land pretty badly now but i still do love this show so much and i'm so sad i'm on the final season#it's like. oh yeah. family is complicated! it's rough!#but everyone can change and grow. people can become better. it won't be perfect and it'll suck sometimes#but everyone is trying their goddamn best.#i will say though i burst into tears at hayley coming to claire and phil and going '. . . i was going to elope but i realized#that i really wanted you guys there :('#and god also how i love gloria and jay and claire and phil and mitch and cam's relationships#and like i love the kids but the adult relationships make me cry the hardest#because it's like. when claire explodes on phil bc 'YOU NEVER TAKE MY ADVICE YOU'RE ALWAYS FOLLOWING SOMEONE ELSE'S!!!'#and phil goes up to claire and presents her with this photo album and goes '. . . honey i'm ALWAYS following your advice.'#and when i think about mitch freaking out bc he thinks he might have had another kid and he thinks cam might ditch him for it#and cam is just like '. . .. mitchell i love you.' and is just like. we'll deal with this together.#and it's just like!!! ough!!! ough!!!

Do you think Banjo is the type of person who hides his problems behind a clown mask?
The guy acts like a bit of comedy relief, but I think he's the kind of person to face his problems head-on. I don't think he uses humor as a coping mechanism. We never see him do that for himself. He's just a loud guy
Look at how he first appears to Midoriya
He's loud, and it steals Midoriya's attention. But he's calling him out on why he's messing up
But as a character's debut, the first things he does are:
Call out Midoriya for trying to do things alone, when Yoichi's first message to him was that he wasn't
Tell him that if he can compose himself, things typically work out
Understands Midoriya's side of things, and tells him he knows (like lacking a mouth)
And once he says those two previous things, he exhales, and his eyes show their pupils properly
The parting advice he gives Midoriya is a reiteration of the second point: It's okay to be mad. What's important is controlling your heart.
Blackwhip is a Quirk that responds to the holder's emotions. Like other Quirks, but Blackwhip goes out of control when the user isn't able to get a grip on themselves
Banjo used his Quirk effectively. He'd have to live that advice to pass it on to Midoriya, back when Abilities were starting to become normal, but Japan was still wrecked. And we know that Quirks are influenced by, and influence, the holder's personality.
Banjo would have to be able to be honest with himself, understand his emotions, and has the maturity to say it's okay to be mad. Just control it.
When he said that for the first time, it actually surprised me. Everyone in fiction or reality says "Don't be mad", but a character on his debut and says it's okay to be that. I never heard anyone say that controlling your emotions and outputting them in a healthy manner is what matters. People just say not to he negative or annoying, because it's inconvenient; but Banjo went past that.
And when he fades, he tells Midoriya he's got this. He reminds him that they're all behind him.
Whenever he speaks, he doesn't make the receiver feel bad, or speak down to them. He understands them, and gives the next step in a familiar, friendly way.
On his debut, he told Midoriya to control his heart, and to remember he wasn't alone. Here, he tells him he should try understanding their Quirks better.
He's actually got a mature way of seeing things. He's an adult, and being the holder between Shinomori and En, he wouldn't be able to deal with either of them if he wasn't mature about himself. Shinomori probably wouldn't choose someone who can't be honest with himself upfront, after spending almost half his life for OFA. And En is young, prone to panic, and a guy who acts like his problems aren't there or funny wouldn't help that.
I can visualize Banjo sitting at a small fire with Shinomori, having an honest, calm talk about life (until Shinomori says the wrong thing and Banjo yells something about it). But not Banjo trying to push his problems down with a hearty laugh, and Shinomori being okay with that.
When Midoriya used his Quirk for the first time, Banjo did get loud at the start, but he did lecture him in a way that was kinda teacher-mentor-ish.
I actually like the way Banjo talks about his observances. He's got the demeanor of a good teacher, he's clear, and direct. He's light-hearted about serious things, but doesn't diminish them. He just approaches it in a way that you aren't feeling the pressure, and can feel like it's possible.
He seems to have this habit of being loud to get people's attention, and simmers down once he has it. He's never indirect or leaving the addressed to figure out the answer on their own, he gives it outright.
When Midoriya used Blackwhip for the first time, Banjo was all "You got it all wrong!" and then explained things. Since he felt himself fading, he could've been talking louder to compensate himself past the daze he felt. To make sure he was talking, heard, and to keep himself awake
When the first Three made the void silent because Kudo and Bruce didn't want to help, Banjo broke it with what Midoriya should do next
When Shinomori got yoinked, the first thing Banjo did was report it in a panic to Midoriya. This just tells Midoriya he really has to be careful now, because OFA can really be stolen. Even if Banjo just panics and doesn't say that aloud
Every time Banjo is facing some kind of problem, he doesn't let others panic too hard. He's not pressuring about problems, and steps back to let Midoriya figure things out.
When Midoriya was running himself into the ground, Banjo was one of the vestiges that didn't show up to tell him to rest. He already understood how Midoriya saw things, and was doing them his own way
Rather than trying to be a clown, I think Banjo is just a friendly person. He's honest with others and with himself, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to utilize Blackwhip right, or be the holder between a sagey hermit and young, scared adult.
#i got this ask and i know how i perceive and feel about banjo but dont know how to put it into words#but i dont think hes someone who only jokes around or uses humor as a coping mechanism#consider the times he lived too. even all mights flashback shows that when he was alive himself japan was still in ruins#banjo lived during that time and before all might#OH. HES LIKE A DAD#hes mature light-hearted but he can sit you down and talk to you about life. then he could go “nice talk” and you dont walk away feeling#like crap#does that make sense? i think this post is another example of word vomit thats kinda cohesive but really not#he still has his inner kid but knows how to approach things like an adult that has people who need him to help them#bnha#mha#boku no hero academia#my hero academia#banjo daigoro#YET AGAIN I GO OFFTRACK YAY ME.#i think the last paragraph is the proper answer to the ask without me running through all these hoops#but i dont talk about banjo as much as the other vestiges so im keeping the word vomit#spoilers#bnha spoilers#mha spoilers#i dont think this is what anon asked for really#answer is the last paragraph i guess. it's all over the place

Beast Wars Cheetor
#once again this is with the understanding that he is an adult#his actual age and how they mature to begin with is pretty hard to nail down in the show#i debated with myself for a long time whether or not to put him up here or not#but my rationale is that 1. hes canonically older than Tigatron blackarachnia airazor or anyone else who came from a protoform in the show#and 2. he has a job that trusts him with deadly weaponry which presumes hed be mature enough to use it correctly#so while rattrap does joke about hom being a kid a lot i think thats more rattrap being an asshole bc he's young and acts immature#my guess is hes around 18-19 and hasnt started taking things seriously yet#if your interpretation is different that is 100% valid. its muddy water and either reading is plausible#all i ask is everyone be respectful 👌#maccadam#poll#transformers#smash or pass#bw#beast wars#cheetor

i finally got the time to watch love is better the second time around and im not at all shocked that im obsessed with the adult second chance at love jbl - have you met me.
but it also needs to be known that shiraishi is my beloved, the actor plays this role so perfectly and i want my bitchy sad gay to find true love
#love is better the second time around#also i adore the mains a whole fucking lot#iwagawa is the perfect mix of pathetic and desperate veiled in cocky and sophisticated#and miyata’s character is just a gem like the way he has transformed from his younger self is so refreshing to see#like this is a kid that was so pure and sweet and open and when he believed that all got trampled on he didn’t let it go to the extreme of#becoming hard and emotionless instead he really has just matured into an adult that actually cares for and values himself#like that hurt made him feel worthless but now he knows he isn’t worthless#like he internalised it through the way he protects himself from others but he does it both to not feel that hurt again but also bc he#thinks well of himself and i just adore the fact we get to see a timid kid grow into someone with self-respect it’s so cool and refreshing#and even when it comes at his detriment bc he won’t let himself believe iwagawa is being honest or that he’s ever been - that it’s all just#a joke or teasing or whatever it’s not frustrating bc you both get where it comes from but also feel like you can support him pushing him#away bc he does it for himself and for the person he’s become#so like… to watch a show where you’re both deeply rooting for the couple but also support when they push each other away… idk how they did#it but they did. the premise is simple and the show is simple but every moment and interaction is electric and thrilling and that’s the kind#of show i love. one that can convey how seemingly interactions are full of tension and stakes for these people. it’s so hard to convey that#but this show nails it and i just can’t get enough now.

i do always have new year's eve plans every year like i always leave my apartment. but. before you recalibrate your internal conception of me. let me just say. the plans are to play board games with a middle-aged couple and their daughter. and sometimes we bake or sew. it's really fun and they feed me well and that's exactly what i'm looking for.
#this year they had TWO daughters AND a son-in-law AND two grandchildren AND a dog. and me <3#it was hoppin#i will be kind of surprised if i don't contract a respiratory tract illness. fingers crossed but my hopes aren't high#the 2yo was really pleased to make my acquaintance and apparently i had a very calming effect on him. that's the vibe i am bringing#to your nye party: toddlers find me soothing#then after the kids went to bed i did a reading of the gift of the magi for two of the adults#and i discovered i don't think i had ever actually read that story before???? i'd just read a children's book retelling of it i think#which is insane because i consider that the quintessential story to which i compare all other stories#but now i have read it. and let me just say: i'm a fan#anyway invite me to your parties i will calm your toddlers and read you stories and make jokes and eat your cookies <3#you are welcome <3#my posts#they also have a really good view of downtown and this year there was a drone show in the square??? like instead of fireworks#but we were seeing it all from an angle so we had fun guessing what the images were supposed to be#my favorites: a guillotine! (it was an outline of our state with i think maybe a heart or rose where our city is)#and: a llama with wheels‚ like if you had a centaur but instead of man and horse it was llama and bicycle!! (it was just a bicycle)

hate when i see a youtube video that's like 'analyzing why [thing] is bad!' and you watch the video and they just say nothing for twenty minutes
#random thoughts#watched a video on why a specific character was poor representation for survivors of assault#and it was such a nothing burger of a video#'this character is bad because children might see them and think their behavior is okay' okay?#i learned how to block out memories from finn adventure time but that doesn't mean memory suppression shouldn't be addressed in media#plus hazbin hotel. i'm talking about angel dust btw if that wasn't blaringly obvious. is an adult cartoon. for adults#adult cartoons shouldn't have to restrict their subject matter because kids could see it#and angel dust being a male queer SA victim using hypersexuality as a coping mechanism could be good!#and the fact he hits on other people despite it making them uncomfortable isn't exactly a problem a la his character?#it could be a control thing. i used to do something similar (pushing other people's boundaries and complaining when they pushed back)#because it made me feel some kind of control over my life#it could start off as a really shitty joke and then grow into 'oh god is that why he does that??'#but anyway their second main point was that the songs were bad? and that poison being an upbeat song makes it bad#like despite listing many other songs which are upbeat with heavy lyrics. but somehow poison is the exception because it's a cartoon?#like again that could be a character thing. angel dust using obfuscation as a coping mechanism to distract himself from his shitty life.#。・゚゚・the lyrics are upbeat to distract you from how dead i feel inside・゚゚・。#and their reading of the second song seemed really mean-spirited?#like as 'everyone has problems so you're not special because you're a whiny baby' rather than 'you're not as alone as you think you are'#and like if op wanted to just complain about a show they watched then yeah go off i do that all the time#but don't parade it as character analysis???#and they say 'oh reading it as a feelgood you're not alone message doesn't work because these characters' struggles are not equal'#but like. sometimes rape needs to feel like it's not some special trauma. it's not unique and you're not uniquely fucked up for it#two characters' traumas don't need to be directly comparable for them to bond!!!#and im not like. defending hazbin hotel btw. never seen it not going to see it no thanks#i'm just complaining about a mediocre youtube video that i'm going to forget about in a week#god i hate that brand of youtube video. where they just complain about things without going into depth about why they're bad#especially if their complaints are shallow and don't have to do with like. the actual structure of a character or story#like it's so easy to say 'this character is bad because theyre a predatory stereotype' but like. go into some depth at least#i think i hate these videos so much because they're fueled purely by hate. no love for the source material or even a desire to learn#or a love for storytelling even

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012
It has been so, so long since I've watched this show. I grew up with it as a kid; I remember being traumatized by the rat king. As a kid, I don't think I watched all five seasons, but I did watch a good deal of it with my siblings. Well, my youngest sibling started watching it for the first time, and eventually my other sister and I decided, well, why not?
We very quickly became invested. It brought a sense of nostalgia. Not only that, but we could appreciate the characters more than we did before. We could relate to a specific one. For me, it's Leo. Even better... I have three younger siblings. It's almost strange how my siblings and I "match" the personalities of each turtle, and in proper oldest to youngest order, too. Obviously, the personalities aren't a complete match. Additionally, the genders are different. I have one brother and two sisters.
Still, Leo has many "oldest traits" that I could feel on a personal level. I can't even count the amount of times my sister and I pointed at the screen and laughed "that's so you!" or one of our other siblings.
The sibling banter is absolutely top notch. It's savage (as it should be) and creative. My siblings and I are very close, so we know what proper sibling banter should look like. Despite the banter, I really appreciate the show including a loving bond between the turtles. They would do anything for each other. When their sibling is badly hurt, their cries are so raw it physically hurts to hear. They lash out or protect.
The plot, while occasionally cliche and predictable, is interesting and action-packed. The turtles don't win every battle, of course, and they suffer through so much. The finale for each season is gut-wrenching every single time.
We're not going to talk about the romance. *gags*
Oh, I have my opinion on the romance, too.
There's just something about 2000s or 2010s shows (animated shows included) that really capture your attention.
This is a kid's show, but the producers didn't shy away from gritty, traumatizing details.
Honestly, if you're super bored and like action-packed shows, even if they're animated, you should seriously check it out.

I think hazbin hotel is part of a common trend recently where things call themselves “adult” to mean like saying bad words but still have the themes of and are structured like children’s shows
#like even 90s edginess still usually seemed like it was trying to be aimed at adults#this and stuff like gen v is identically structured to children’s media except with swears and penis#even the ‘jokes’ are structured like kids shows#ALSO unrelated to the point here but the depiction of addiction is so out of touch it’s unbelievable#child’s understanding of like drugs and sex work as a concept#warlock wartalks#honestly I would respect it a lot more if it was just a kids show#you’d barely have to change anything

JoJo Siwa doesn’t deserve all the hate (and homophobia) she’s getting for her style and music; but she does deserve scrutiny for defending Colleen Ballinger and being both active and complicit in abuse that happened on her TV show. Like the girl has been under the public eye in unhealthy environments all her life; cut her some slack — not too much; she’s still a responsible adult — but if you’re going to dogpile her, then at least dogpile her for the right reasons. Jesus Fucking Christ.
#jojo siwa#discourse#Her comment sections are VILE#I actually don’t hate her songs. They’re basically early-2000s new old stock and I like early 2000s music#Is she trying too hard to look like an “adult?” Yes. But that’s understandable.#What isn’t understandable is screaming at children for no fucking reason#and JoJo not helping at all when a girl was hemorrhaging out her belly button#when JoJo’s mother told the girl to “put a pad on it”#I don’t care how afraid you are of your parents; you END that shit the second you see it#I was raised in a cult and I actively sabotaged my parents’ preaching work on multiple occasions#I didn’t know if I’d get kicked out if they found out I did that; the only reason I still have a relationship with them#is because they never found out about my later sabotage#Dad preached to a waitress dangling a cure for her sons’ disorder in front of her nose as incentive to join and gave her literature#So I went to the restaurant with him and insisted I pay for the tip.#I gave her eight dollars and a sticky note with a bunch of keywords about the cult’s abuses to look up#The next time I went there#she said didn’t understand the sticky note and asked me while he was gone what I meant#I hate talking to people especially when I’m under pressure because I trip over my words even when I’m NOT anxious#But her kids’ lives being free of a cult meant more to me than avoiding a momentary discomfort so I gave a quick rundown#She thanked me and heeded my warning basically playing along with me and not saying anything to my dad about it#I was 20; JoJo was about 19 when her show was going on#She had no excuse for allowing her mom to do that.#At the very least she could have said “Oh god I’m so sorry she said that. Please don’t hurt yourself for my show; go to the hospital.”#But no. She didn’t do that. In fact she screamed at children and joked that if they were crying then it was a good show.#Bitch come here and do that in front of me. I double dog dare you. I may only be 5’5” but I fight dirty and I’m angrier than you#Sorry. I guess I do hate her… for THAT specifically.#Like yeah I’ve fucked up with the kids I help and yelled when I didn’t have to but I HATED doing it and tried to do better later#Why someone would SCREAM at kids on purpose for long periods of time for no reason is beyond me

how many times do we need to learn as people that irony and hyperbole can be harmful because 'jokes' aren't easily distinguished from genuine thoughts and feelings until we stop rewarding people for speaking or posting about violence
like even if you're joking/don't actually believe that/think whoever you are insulting is bad/immoral/fictional therefore deserves it - ad hominem attacks always do more harm to the people who share those characteristic then the individual you intend to cause harm to or discredit
#discourse#long post#its genuinely erased so much of my enjoyment of 911blr knowing i have to check accounts or risk seeing bullying/hate#l like its an odd feeling to know that so many people in the same fandom as you actively hold hate or find hate funny against your communit#like tired of people saying others are too sensitive because we dont want to hear or see a person say they want to hurt themself or others#like sorry i put in the work everyday to not let my mental health backslide and to enjoying being alive and accept my queerness#while others seemingly have not#and i know the content i post/share is not all in the same circles as that certain blog and i hate that it still grinds my gears but#its so frustrating to see the cruel glee people have#saying things they would never say to anyone's face irl and only to other blindly devoted/similar bullies#like do these people realise that they are on a razor's edge between 'ironic jokes' and just outright bigotry and threats - like do they#literally the only thing seperating That and conservative bigots is that the bigots are honest about their hatred towards minorities#like a lot of people in the fandom seemingly still need to deal with a lot of intenalised homophobia/racism and just outright hate-#especially regarding queer men and men of colour#because i can not be emphasise enough#It is NOT GOOD OR HEALTHY to be a fully grown adult that actively derives joy from the idea of enacting hate crimes#like you can hate tommy you can want him off the show even want him to die like weird but go off#but its such a next step to unprompted talk about [a character i dislike/hate/dont ship/disrupts my fanon endgame] in derogatory ways -#with rhetoric that straight up is out of terf/rel. right/homophobic/racists bigots and evokes violent hate-crimes......#well i feel sorry for those people cause what a miserable life to spend so much of it unable to enjoy your own life that you target others#anyways I know this is too long but I'm just a very tired man who has studied history and education and working with kids i have seen it -#too many times- harmful words coming from harmful environments or creating harmful actions and thereby perpetuating the cycle of violence#also not super relavent but as Latino Australian i am genuinely appauled at how many people have in their bio they are also Australian-#while actively liking/reblogging and engaging with post that find homophobic violence a funny haha joke - as if activist in our country -#aren't actively trying to dismantle homophobic and transphobic laws regarding issues like conversion therapy#like I know professors that actively got fired for being gay while teaching in religious education context - and its still happening!#so for people to forget so quickly what progress has been made and how much it took and how easy it is to loose - disappointing#(and its the same people who wanna pretend mardi gras is nothing but a party as if 78rs didn't risk their jobs/safety/lives)

I love mlp and the mlp fandom but ya'll are one of the few groups that make "It's a kids show" a valid response to your complaints. You forget who the show was made for.
#“i don't understand why they don't make horrific implications more explicit” it's a kids show#“these horror and/or adult fics are way more realistic than the show why don't they do that” it's a kids show#“um this character is actually insane and (horribly ableist armchair diagnosis) just look at this episode” it's a joke in a kids show#quinn quips

It’s funny how Animaniacs and Rocko’s Modern Life both premiered the same year and had more blatant adult jokes than any other kids shows of that era.
