Plot twist! We are adopting! ❤️

About a month ago, we decided to end all our fertility treatment. It just wasn’t for us anymore. But the ache of wanting to grow our family was still very much there. We prayed about it & that’s when we decided to open our hearts to adoption. Over the next few weeks, we started to research & dive into the adoption process & it all started to make sense. Our struggles with secondary infertility brought us to where we feel like we needed to be. God has truly blessed us & although each of our miscarriages have hurt us tremendously, we see that they have been crucial for us to get to this moment and find our true purpose which we feel like is growing our family through adoption. We have soooo much love to give and Addy will be an absolute AMAZING sister—big OR little!

We’re announcing our plans to adopt early because we will be doing a lot of fundraising over the next 6 months, specifically through my Etsy shop, so that we have all the funds ready to go by January & can start the long & unpredictable but totally worth it process of adopting! And y’all know I can’t keep a secret & love to share so I’m bringing everyone along the ride with us! 😌 Excitedly anxious, but feeling so so much relief with putting our trying to conceive journey behind us & moving on with finding our missing puzzle piece through adoption. I plan on writing a more in depth blog about our decision to adopt as there was a lot that went into it, but that will be saved for another time! And will of course update as the process moves alone until we find our forever child!

Today I got an unexpected package. I open it and its a whole @patternbeauty collection. Unfortunately, there was no card attached. However, this fit the M.O. of one special person. Everyone this is my Big Sister Katrina sporting her luxurious crown. She is the absolute best! She loves sending correspondence and gifts. She has done this ever since her days in the army. I remember my Mom reading me the beautiful letters and post cards she would send from her travels. This started when I was in the 3rd grade and has continuedinto my adulthood. She has been nothing less than amazing to me my entire life. I wouldn't change a thing about her. Well...maybe one thing. She acts like shes my Mom sometime lol.. Family is such a fascinating concept. I'm lucky enough to have a pretty awesome biological family, but as a single adult I feel equally lucky to have an amazing "family by choice" - people in my life who are not related to me biologically but who have made me a loved and cherished part of their lives and their children's. Our Adoption Story Rob and I met though a sports social club he had organized, Rob approached me and made me feel comfortable right away, it was the first time I ever went to this type of event, which was a social party for baseball fans. After getting to know each other, we found many common interests such as being being sports fans, having similar musical tastes, and being involved in community betterment. We started dating and after a couple of years, Rob proposed to me on Valentine's Day when he surprised me by placing the engagement ring in the flower arrangement he had brought for me. We soon after got married outdoors under a gazebo in #statenisland at a beautiful country club on a gorgeous summer afternoon. A few years later we brought our house in #statenislandny which is located near a beach community. Rob and I have traveled to Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Florida, South Carolina, Washington, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Niagara Falls, Hamptons, Boston, and our home away from home Atlantic City which we usually try to go a couple of times a year, while we are not big time gamblers, we enjoy the beach, boardwalk and the fun atmosphere it always provides. We live in a lovely home in quiet neighborhood, we try to keep our home clean and in good shape, right now, what is missing from our lives is a beautiful young life to raise with strong family values Rob and I were given from our parents. We now begins our adoption journey with hope someday of finding our child. 10 months later we are still looking for the missing #puzzlepiece. I'm not particularly celebrity-minded, so I can't say I usually get book recommendations from celebrity sources. And I honestly don't even remember where I saw the interview in which @kristenanniebell said that "Quackenstein Hatches a Family" (2010) was her kids' favourite book. But boy am I glad that I paid attention this once! I was already a fan of author Sudipta Bardhan-Quallen, and combined with the hilarious illustrations of Brian T. Jones, her story of a cantankerous duck who goes looking to adopt himself some family, suffers a temporary setback when parenthood is not exactly what he expects, and then comes to embrace that unexpected wonder of chosen family, is about as wonderful a storybook as I've ever enjoyed.
