ADHD-tiny anchors
Hello! I am delighted you have landed at A Plank In Reason Broke, a metaphor that serves as one frame I use to make sense of my diagnosis.
I was diagnosed a few years ago but am only now consciously considering how I position myself in relation to this aspect of my identity and when/if/how I negotiate it or decide to (not) disclose it with others.
My aim here is micro-disclosure. I will share the tiny alongside snippets of poetry. I hope they get you thinking about your own anchors and how, when, and with whom you share them.
Note: A Plank In Reason Broke references a line in Emily Dickinson’s #304 poem, I Felt a Funeral in My Brain.

New Studyblr Network (maybe)
So I’ve been thinking about creating a network of disabled studyblrs. I haven’t come up with a name for the group yet, but it would likely be something straightforward (like disabledstudyblrnetwork). Although I’d have to work out all the details, I would probably create a separate account for this network so that I could follow members directly and keep better track of everything.
So far, these are the ideas I’ve had for the network:
There would be two requirements to be in the network: be a studyblr (sideblogs count) and have a disability.
Gatekeeping will not be allowed: anyone who identifies as disabled (including if you are neurodivergent or do not have a formal diagnosis) will be welcome.
Members might be required to follow the network’s blog and/or to reblog an introduction post about the network (I understand this is typical of studyblr networks, but am not sure if I would implement that or not)
The network would track a tag that members could use to have their work seen by other members and the network account. All posts made with that tag, if they were studyblr-related, would be reblogged by the account.
A directory of members would be kept somewhere on the blog.
If enough people were interested, group chats could be arranged by age, disability, interests, or in virtually any other way. These could be hosted on whichever platform was most convenient.
Because I’ll be on semi-hiatus for the next month or so, the network would probably be created by the second week of August, at which point it would start accepting members. Until this point, I’d love to hear any suggestions that prospective members or anyone else might have.
If you’d be interested in joining this network, please reblog this post or message me to let me know. Below, I’ve tagged every disabled/neurodivergent studyblr I could think of. I hope that’s all right.
@adhdacademia @adhdphysicist @adhd-physics-studyblr @adhdstudy @adhdstudying @celestudials @cloudedstudies @estudierprouvaire @erinstudyblr @exu-lan-sis @finally-a-realistic-studyblr @journalsandbooks @julistudiess @marieevestudies @myastudies @neurodivergentstudent @ravenclaw-inspo @relatablestudies @ru-us-autistic-studyblr @skatergirl-studies @spooky-studies @stimsandjournals @studyadhd @studyblrforbeginners @studyblrwithadhd @whilemirandastudies
tl;dr: I’m thinking about making a studyblr network for people with disabilities. If you’d be interested in joining, please let me know (and feel free to give me any suggestions you might have for the network). If there is interest, you can expect the network to be created in early- to mid-August.
