Hello again studyblr! I have been away from blogging for a while, but I am back for the start of the new school year. A lot has changed this year since I am now in high school.

For those who are new to my studyblr, my name is Auryn, but I go by Aura. I turned 14 this year, and I am now in 9th grade.

I am homeschooled and have been since 1st grade.

I have an older brother, who starts his first year at university next week. He will be studying Biochemistry and Economics. It will be strange without him here. We play video games together. I hope we will still play online while he is away.

I train in ballet, and I am in level 7 of an adapted RAD curriculum.

I've taken piano lessons since I was 5.

I love history and historical fiction literature. My two favorite subjects in school are Literature and History.

I am studying Spanish, French, and Chinese. Spanish is for school while French and Chinese are extracurricular because my mom teaches French Literature and my dad is fluent in Mandarin and Spanish.

I am a Senior Girl Scout as of this year. I have been in Girl Scouts since Kindergarten, so I started as a Daisy. I am part of a local homeschool troop that is multilevel. I earned both the Bronze and Silver Awards and will start working on my Gold Award soon.

Tried to make some graphics notes. I got bored so I started researching into what I can do for my Gold Crest award. I have some ideas but need to finalise soon.

Think I’m gonna start ‘From blood and Ash’ tomorrow. I have had the book for a bit but I think I’m finally in the right vibe mood now.

What is the weather like where you live in autumn?

Unstable. I live in the UK and some days it’s calm and others it is raining heavily. There’s even been flooding in some parts of the country due to the rain. Today was cold but a manageable kind of cold so lucky me I guess.

The 2018-19 School Year

What Went Well:

I got straight A's and kept my 4.0 GPA

I ended the year with all my grades being 100s or over 100s with the exception of one class

I got reelected to the student council

I won three academic awards

I was able to stay motivated and avoid burn out for like 80% of the school year

I picked a career and a college major

I have a list of colleges I am interested in

I took the PSAT and scored in the 94th percentile on my first attempt

I went to a Youth in Government conference

I served as president on student council and raised $1,000 for my class

I volunteered as a math tutor for 10 hours

I started building a resume

I have a solid and detailed high school plan to get into my dream college

Today was a fun day. I volunteered again at the library, and I am now at eight volunteer hours for the semester. My goal is 20 hours, and I think I am on track.

Speaking of which, we had the Gold Award training yesterday, so I can officially start working on ideas for my Gold Award. I can't truly start it until I complete at least one Senior Journey since I earned the Silver Award, but coming up with some ideas never hurt. I have four years to finish it, but I would like to finish it by my first year of Ambassadors. I think I have a timeline for everything!

Also, side reminder to those who may come across my blog, yes I am very intellectually mature for my age, but I am only fourteen. Please do not send me random messages about things that are not appropriate such as solicitations. I will report you, and my father is an attorney and has many legal friends across the country and internationally. To everyone else who sends me nice messages and likes to talk about study things, hobbies, interests, and books, you all are great! I love the studyblr community!

Tasks Completed:

Geometry - Learned about the SSS and SAS Congruence Theorems + practice + honors work

Lit and Comp II - Reviewed units 4-6 vocabulary + created an outline for my short stories compare/contrast essay

Spanish 2 - Reviewed vocabulary + listened to a story in Spanish

Bible I - Read Exodus 9-10

World History - Researched and answered questions about Islam

Biology with Lab - Completed the homeostasis and cell transport test + watched a video on the inner life of a cell

Foundations - Read more on dependability + took a quiz on Read Theory + went through steps 9-12 of the steps of research

Practice - Practiced assigned pieces for 30 minutes and worked on memorization

Khan Academy - Completed Unit 2: Lesson 8 of World History + completed Unit 3: Lesson 4 of High School Biology + completed Unit 3: Lesson 5 of High School Geometry

Duolingo - Completed at least one lesson each in Spanish, French, and Chinese
