It's April!

Y'know, it's strange; at this point, I've drawn a fair amount of Rise fanart. But I haven't ever actually drawn April yet! And that needed to change.

thunderbolts fandom only existing for like... four days and already having so much absurd and annoying shipping discourse is just another side-effect of this enshittification of fandom that's been happening since *check notes* voltron and the pandemic imo.

but one of the most annoying recent fandom trends is forcing characters into this nuclear family dynamic and the way it's made shipping discourse unbearable. "alexei's the dad, bob yelena and ava are the big siblings and bob is the little brother," on paper, is a harmless headcanon. the problem is the weaponization of these family headcanons to fuel ship wars.

bob and yelena have a deep bond in thunderbolts. you can interpret it as a sibling dynamic. you can also interpret it as romantic or queerplatonic or literally whatever you want. the problem is the same people who call bob yelena's "little brother" are simultaneously saying that any romantic interpretation of their characters is "incestuous weirdo behavior."

like, can we not?

and while boblena is the ship that's taking the most heat right now, i've been seeing hostility towards any variation of any thunderbolts ships. john/ava, john/bob, bucky/alexei, bob/void (which, lmfao, is SUCH a typical ship to me that people getting up in arms about it just proves we've let too many normies into fandom spaces). even yelena/kate is catching strays right now. and it doesn't have to be this way.

again, can we not? just say you're not into any of the ships and move on with your life.

these are not siblings. these are grown adults who grew to care about each other after experiencing traumatic events. "found family" trope has gotten so out of control it genuinely makes fandom less fun.

so, Amity Parkers fit in in gotham.

plus the city is so rich in ectoplasm it's almost like at home! in fact they probably only need their ecto-sups because it's so cursed.

the fear toxin works like caffeine for liminals. they found out accidentally while Wes was mid-rant and forgot his gas-mask like a dumbass he is.

Wes being Wes figured out the Bats identity in the first month since moving but he learned his lesson, kept his mouth shut and corkboard hidden safely in the realms having joined the Team Phantom a while ago.

Val visits some of her friends here sometimes, with the suit being part of her body now she's basically halfa-adjacent (she has suspicions she's one major near death experience away from actually becoming one) and she's getting major "Fuck-off it's my haunt" vibes from Crime Alley. maybe Red Hood's a ghost? not gonna check now.

Paulina is having emotions about Nightwing's ass and no one wants to hear them, curse liminal ability of ghost-speak.

all things considered? life is well. tho it might be a matter of time before the bats start getting annoying.

What if a batfam w a neglected! Dress up reader?

BEAR WITH ME OKAY, What if Neglected! Reader being this uninteresting, boring and overshadowed Wayne child for the majority of their life. Their either ignored, brushed off or totally looked down upon *cough* Damian *cough*

Then suddenly they wake up then BOOM suddenly they see in front of them 【 Welcome to Bonnie's Dress up Dreamland 】 and reader is like looking at it like "wtf? Who's Bonnie?" and was suddenly thrown into PK and Dress up battles all through out their day and even worse? It gave them side quests to complete or else they die (lmao)

Like imagine, neglected! reader outfit battling it out in a dark alley, clearly crushing their enemies w their styling capability (infinity Nikki style) and to the outside perspective it's them talking and suddenly the gang leader dropped to the floor.

Reader: 【PK Victory】 .. *leaves after defeating the latest outfit battle they randomly triggered for the seventh time today*

Jason, observing from the shadows as the gangster that was threatening reader randomly drops to the ground: ????

chaotic academia: keeps commonplace books, stacks of books everywhere, either books you probably never heard of or popular YA, bad handwritting, has a chewed off pencil or a gel pen, drinks juice or energy drinks, will paraphase authors for comedic effect, too tired to dress up, but still tries.
